"Kanata, please! Just stay still for a second!"

"I am sorry, (name)" He murmured, his body flailing around on the couch as if he were an actual fish out of water. "But this is... so boring. Can you take me to the ocean now?"

You sighed, offering him the sweetest smile you could muster as you continued to dap a wet cloth on his forehead. Poor thing, his skin was hot to the touch and the sweat trickling down the back of his neck didn't help to disprove your theory that he was incredibly sick, even if he insisted he wasn't.

"I know honey, I know. I'll take you when you're all better. The ocean isn't going anywhere" You cooed, brushing a damp strand of hair out of his eyes.

"You are cruel, (name)" Kanata huffed, turning on his side and facing his back towards you, a childish behaviour that you couldn't help but let out a tiny laugh at. You'd never seen him act so bratty before. It was cute, in a weird way.

"Cruel? Me? I'm the one taking care of you dummy" You teased, gently poking him in the back. "How about this, if you let me take care of you, then we can take a bath together later. Does that sound good?"

Kanatas head perked up at the offer, a tired smile tugging at his lips. A bath? With you? Who wouldn't want that? He rolled around till he was laying flat on his stomach, looking up at you with those big green eyes of his. God, even when he was sick he still made your heart melt.

"Hm, only if you add bubbles"

You chuckled, reaching out to ruffle his hair. "Of course, anything for you"

Day 12 of self care writing!

December 6th, 2023, Wednesday 9:51 pm In my room with candles burning, an Arizona green tea, and hot cheetos. :)

Gooooood evening, a late one once again but that's alright. I was debating on doing a self care writing tonight but then I decided to after I got off facetime with my besties. Since I'm not going to college, I don't have homework like most of my other friends so my "homework" is this. Except, I actually want to do it. So it isn't really homework. Well, it's mental health/self care homework. ;)

Events of the daaaaay ~

6:30 am - 1:00 pm, I woke up, did some morning yoga, and got dressed/ready for work. Left for work and, well, worked until I got off at 1. I think work was pretty good today, it was sort of a slow day but that gave me plenty of time to start working on my friends' Christmas illustrations I'm making for them! I got two friends' ones done today. One of them is Taylor Swift themed and has the lyric: "I love you to the moon and to Saturn" on it. That lyric is used by us a lot, so it's kind of a thing between us. :) Then, the second one that I finished is The Owl House themed. I copied this photo I found on pinterest/from the show and made my own drawing of it:

Because that friend is the only one out of my friends that has watched The Owl House and we both love it. *OWL HOUSE SPOILER AHEAD* We also act like siblings together so I'm convinced that we are versions of Luz and Hunter in our universe. Since they basically become "chosen siblings," or, well, yeah, I'd say Hunter becomes a Noceda by the end. So of course, I had to incorporate that into a Christmas gift. ;)

1:30 pm - 7:00 pm, after work I grabbed lunch and headed home. Then I kind of just chilled, watching Doctor Who. A bit after, I took a shower and changed into comfy clothes and worked on my illustrations and watched Wizards of Waverly Place until my mom came home from work and we headed to the vet to pick up Charlie; our doggo. He got 'fixed' today, poor thing is probably tired out. When we came back home, I chilled a bit more and ate supper, then headed up to my room to just *ahhhhhhh.* You know?

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, I was on facetime with my besties chatting about when we wanted to get together for Christmas, before some of us leave for the holidays. Which was a much needed facetime. Every time I facetime my friends it always brightens my day in the perfect way. After we got a date set and chatted for a while most everyone got off the call except for me and one of the besties, so we stayed on for quite a while longer and just talked about random things. It was so silly and great, I loved it. :)

My babes, Delilah, from this morning when she was very comfortably sitting and cleaning herself like this on my bed. (she's such a pretty lil' baby tho)

Self care writingggggg ~

Three things that I am proud of myself for today: One, for completing two illustrations for my friends! Even if it wasn't "for me," in a way it sort of was, because I really enjoyed illustrating them. :) Plus, I've been wanting to do more illustrations. Two, for putting in some of my therapy things into actual practice. It was a little difficult but hey, I tried and that's something to be proud of. Three, for trying to get myself out of an iffy mood instead of just letting my moodiness take over. Even if it included watching silly little tik toks that make me laugh, it counts.

Two things that happened today that I don't want to forget: One, how I remembered the feeling of how much love I feel towards musicals and just productions in general. They make me so happy and seem so magical to me. Like, MAGIC. The cast, the writing, the music, the SHOW. Magic. Two, how I felt when I was facetiming my friends and after too. I felt like that was the thing I needed to make my day really great. <3

One thing that I should recognize more: How lovely my life really is. Not necessarily the things that make my life "easier," but the things that just, make my life. The lovely things.

November Gamedev Progress

AHhhhhhh! Another month over!? I have no idea where it went :(

Calander

Changed the total number of Months from 13 to 12, added Seasons which last 3 Months. Seasons have weighted Weather so more Snow in the last one (Winter?), more Rain in the second one! (Spring?). Trying to come up with some other Weather events that wont be too disruptive. It was really foggy a few days ago so now I wanna try and code that X'D

Saving/Loading

This is the big one, what I spent most of this month working on;

I've set up a Save/Load system! I'll slowly give all the different major objects their own part but currently I've got Trees/Grass/Rocks/some system stuff all being recreated correctly in a loaded world!

So in this gif I start a game, save (note the debug come up), quit to title (lacking a title XD), then start a new game; it's a different map! Then I quit again and load the saved world! <3 <3 <3

Got the first batch of Buildings stored! Buildings that Craft Items and those that Convert them all set!

And also Benches and their tops work! This was an extra bit of challenge, since instead of just replacing a Bench with say the Distiller, I update it with a SubType, so I've added a check and a loop to the load code. If it creates a building with a SubType it will do a second go of the Creation code and it gets upgraded to a Distiller!

There's still more to do with the Save system, I've been taking it slow to ensure that I don't mess anything up. Saving the customisation of Buildings that are made out of multiple parts like Houses is gonna be a challenge. I have an idea of how to do it, it's just getting it to work will be a pain.

Also saving the ownership data, say for a Goblin and it's Home/Work, or a Pet and it's Nest. I can't save the object ID between games so I'll have to use the object type and it's coordinates.

LAST MINUTE ADDITION!

Got Buildings Saving their Carpets/Rugs, should be able to store the Wall/Floor colours and Building Part placements (like Beds) the same way! But I am tired, and hungry, so maybe for next months update? :S

Bugs

LOADS of little fixes here and there, such as;

Fixed a bug were Item shadow's were clipping underneath flooring and snow.

Snow and Flooring now use the -bbox_top so they have a lower depth priority, and I added an offset to Item's depth (forgot I had to add it to the bounce code!)

Fixed a bug where Dry Grass wouldn't be recreated when Loading a game.

Fixed a bug where Dry Grass wouldn't spawn on Beaches.

Fixed a bug where loading a game would make fully grown trees sprout a new one each time you loaded.

Fixed Tall Grass not spawning in Swamp Biomes.

Updated the Culling System to properly cull Buildings that are made out of multiple parts, previously it just didn't cull them. Now when the main part gets culled all the other parts get culled into a part list that later gets checked when the master is unculled. Getting this to work with the Save/Load system though is gonna be a PAIN!

Fixed a bug where Houses would move when you saved and loaded :S

Visuals

Set up Flooring to give you a slight visible y offset, so it's like you're actually standing on something higher!

Swapped the offset on Paving for one on Flooring, and adjusted the Depth on JUST Flooring, so now you can stand behind the raised floor! :D

Got Snow set up for working on Roofing, noticed some issues with my Roofing autotiling, so I think I need to remake that from scrap. :(

OK! Scrapped that Roofing because the thinner sections were giving me a massive headache trying to autotile. Made a much simpler one which was about all I could draw without tearing my hear out or the mouse out of the computer.

Might need to adjust the height a bit more, so trees and the statue don't clip through?

Adjusted the offset for drawing roofing, and changed the Create/Destroy selector to more accurately show that you are over roofing, looks better to me.

I also extended the height of the extra bit of Roof drawn on lowest so it connects with Walls, I might change that and instead put it as part of the Wall itself so it's like the wall is taller?

Lighting

I keep messing with them, I think this is better? Did some rework with how darkness works and layered up all lights so there's three levels of brightness from each source.

Hi Cozy!! I’m doing good, how about you? (Also idk how exactly to describe an apple cider donut to you, but it’s like a brown donut, and, in my opinion at least, it’s a good shade of brown, and it had little sugar all over it that makes it crunchy & good. Technically you could get the one that has liquid on it instead of the glaze, but I think the crunchy sugar ones are good for a first experience.) Also, I missed you so much while I was gone!! I hope you’re also doing well!!!

I'm doing really good today as well! (the fact that it's the weekend only adds to my joy hsjjjsjsaksskskd) and on top of that, I've finally found my favorite crochet needle that I'd lost for a while. Not sure how it got mixed up with my clothes, but it did! Been kinda on a happy high ever since.

Day 11

The Deets:

I got off the phone with my dad. He was suggesting what to do for storage, but then he ran out of ideas. My mom said this morning either mail my stuff to her (that would also be expensive) or call Uncle Marc and see if he could help store it.

Update: my mom called my uncle and it turns out he can help. Yay.

I did Excel stuff in class. I was lost at first because I had to spend some of the lecture imputing data while the professor talked about how to create a histogram on Excel. Also a PivotTable. But then after I raised my hand the professor went to me individually to explain what I was supposed to do.

I was going to go to an improv rehearsal, but I figured I was busy and shouldn’t take on more stuff. Then I didn’t end up doing said stuff... Except I am doing laundry...

I also was supposed to go to Ecotherapy, but my Student Wellness appointment for study abroad health assessment took too long. But apparently I am supposed to show my vaccine records to the study abroad advisor? And get a typhoid shot or something. I don’t know if I’ll have time.

Random:

Apparently Duolingo now also has the endless scroll, for Spanish anyway. Interesting, I guess that’s a way to lazily language learn.

The classmate friend that I have talked about in my other logs didn’t go to class for a few days because of transportation issues. He made it today, but we barely talked at all and he was just working on his work independently because he was tired and missed the class work that everyone else got. Not long after I left class he apologized for being quiet and working alone. I think he apologizes a lot. Not just in that particular instance, but in general. So far he’s included “sorry” in a text 11 times this month. I made a table on Excel, and a graph of the days and numbers of “Sorry”s.

Future fUtuRe!:

AHHHHHHH. It is the phrase of the month. I am leaving this Sunday. IAMLEAVINGTHISSUNDAY. That is in four days. AHHHH. I am going to be on a camping trip and I am going to be airport hopping and I am going to a foreign country for a month... I got an assessment from the Student Wellness, and apparently I scored a “moderate” for depression and anxiety. To be fair, the last assessment had me at “severe” for anxiety. Right now the anxiety is ALLLTHISSSTUFFFF

Hang on, I’m sure I ate things other than potato and salad:

Breakfast: Potato rounds

Lunch: Salad and orange juice

Dinner: Chicken leg and wing, mashed potato thing (that may or may not have actually had mashed potato and had a mix of stuff like chickpeas), a banana, cucumber water, kombucha, raspberry chia seed pouch thing

📝- A memory of them getting to know/meeting my muse

(( I literally wrote this from their first meeting but this time I tried mostly to tap into Yuriko’s thought process during it since we both know what happened. I kind of wanted to open up more about what went through her mind back then. I hope this works for you.

And oh my! I can’t even tell you how grateful I’m because of this ask! I loved writing this, even though I’m not sure if the text makes any sense since it’s mostly just Yuriko’s flowing thoughts… but somehow going back to that moment made me feel very nostalgic. Ahhhhhhh!

Yuriko was drawing circles to her notes when she suddenly felt like someone was staring at her. She straightened up, turning her head slightly and gazing at the desk behind her through her bangs. Steel-blue eyes pierced hers as a confident smirk climbed on the lips she instantly noticed. Blinking, she turned back, this time staring at the teacher but her thoughts went whirling, pushing the topic of the ongoing class away from her mind.

This library is huge but I just had to come here for the first thing, the classes won’t start yet and well… It’s not like I’m going to make friends anytime soon. Maybe it’s even better if I stay out of everyone’s way.

Oh, but so many books! And I truly love this atmosphere! The night school is a bit of trouble… Oh my… I’m actually very tired right now. How on earth I’m supposed to keep my eyes open during classes through the night? I mean… If I was reading an interesting book, it wouldn’t be a problem but… eh… homeroom, English classes, math… But I need to pull through everything, I just have to! I can’t fail now…

Where should I start? I don’t have that much time so… maybe I check that back corner first, it looks like there are the most interesting books… Hmmm… Why is it so dim here? Oh, but… Yes, I was correct. These books are truly something. My earlier school didn’t even have these titles! At least that is a good thing… Maybe I can enjoy this school year. I can read these in between schoolwork, no need to distract myself with other matters. Dad will be happy if I only study and read… No trouble this time and no skipping classes. I’m going to succeed…

"Ou-ouch!"

What did just happen? I hit on something... Eh? A person... Such stern and cold eyes... full of... despise?

“Oh my gosh! I… I’m so sorry…”

Oh no… Oh no… Oh no… He looks so angry. I’m going to… Ehhh… my cheeks are burning! Not now! This is bad. Why do I always do something stupid like this?

“Can you not pay attention? What clumsy livestock you are… And you call that a proper apology? I should teach you manners.”

What? How rude he can be? Did he really call me livestock? Nobody uses that kind of language when they speak to others… and I apologized. Why is he so mad at me? Why is the first person I meet in this school such an annoying and scary young man? He is the one who needs to learn some manners!

“What are you even doing in this section? Shouldn’t an average woman like you look for a book in the fairy tale section? These books here are definitely too demanding for you.”

“Umh…” He… I can’t believe it… “I am very sorry… I… I… should have watched… erm… where I was going. But… it isn’t truly your business… what I’m doing here…”

I'm flaring up… So embarrassing! I must leave now! NOW! Immediately!

Why aren’t my legs moving? He is getting closer!

Oh my…! Why is he grinning like that? I must… take a step back. Please, stop! Don’t come so near me!

Ouch! Gosh, I forgot that there was a bookshelf behind me. I… I… now I can’t even go anywhere and he is…

“Please excuse me, Livestock. I am sorry. But I could not understand you. For some reason, you seem to lose your voice. Could you please repeat what you said? I just want to make sure you really said it is none of my business.”

My heart can’t take this! My first night here and I have already drawn the wrong kind of attention. Oh gosh, his eyes! Those eyes… they are so… like ice… I… I… I…

“What is it?”

What is he doing, grabbing my chin like that!?!? HIS FINGERS ARE SO COLD! Why can’t I stop to stare at his eyes? This is bad, so bad…!

“You are not afraid of me, are you?”

I TOTALLY AM! WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM? Why does he treat me like this! He has no right!

Eh? Was that the bell?

“See you, Livestock.”

He… just… left….

Right…? The bell! I must go too! Gosh, this is terrible! I hope I won’t run into him anymore…

A sudden sound made Yuriko snap out of her thoughts. The bell!

The last class had just ended. She started to collect her things hastily, memories still floating through her mind. So many things had changed after the steel-blue eyes had pierced her for the first time. Judging by how they have met, it was so hard to believe where they had ended up.

“Let us go, Yuriko,” the soft voice said as a hand picked up her school bag. When she rose from her chair, cool fingers entwined with hers, and Ruki pulled her with him.

(( I guess this is a good time to mention (just in case someone else is reading this) that Rukiko story is separate from Yuriko’s canon story. That’s why this first meeting is different from what happened in her Dark. I haven’t written Ruki’s lines in this scene because I took them from an RP @ask-ruki-mukami and Yuriko have going on in private, so all credit for those goes to Ruki’s admin.
