💒?
I was hoping I’d get this one!! This is going to be super long (and include pictures) so yeah 👍 I haven’t been to a wedding before, and the only time I’ve planned one was for my high school one act last year, so hopefully this isn’t too janky. The photos are just to give a general idea of what I'm talking about ^^ Many don't match completely with what I describe
The Location:
-Camp Campbell itself. No doubt about it. Those mfs are sentimental bitches.
-They would have the ceremony by the lake and the reception in the activities field in one of those massive tents.
-For some reason, I imagine them getting married in November. I wanted a summer wedding but felt like it would have been a bit difficult for them to handle the kids along with all of the arrangements that come with planning a wedding.
-So, I thought it’d be super cute if David and Max had them do some kind of activity that could later be used in the wedding for decoration. So like, have the campers make origami wreaths to be used as certain pieces on tables/origami flowers for the arbor, or maybe a few draw a picture of Max and David to be given as wedding gifts. David thinks it's super adorable, Max likes that it saves them money.
-And they definitely send out the wedding photos to the campers afterward!
Decoration:
-The whole color scheme is dark green, white, and beige with some blue thrown in.
-A lot of the decor is handmade, mostly because they like the kind of homey feeling all the handmade stuff gives the wedding, but also it means they can put the unspent money towards a better honeymoon
-All the flowers were given to them by the flower scouts, who are more than pleased to help out with a wedding. White Peonies and Lisianthus are the flowers of choice for their arbor, and the origami flowers are scattered throughout to give it a pop of color
-The chairs are basic white beach chairs, with the outer ones having small paper flower bouquets the campers made tied to them
-The arbor sits in between the two docks and has petals scattered around it. Some burlap ribbons are probably tied around the dock posts for added decor
Tumblr media
-In the tent, the ceiling is covered in string lights and fake garland
Tumblr media
-Lots of potted plants ^^
-The tables were dragged out from the mess hall and have flower vases and candles lining them (The candles smell like vanilla!)
Tumblr media
-The tables also have a long white tablecloth going down the center with a dark green one on top
-The flower vases are filled with more Peonies and Lisianthus, although they have the added additions of baby breath, boxwood stems, and cornflower
Tumblr media
-Of course, all the tables have the origami wreaths laid out in between vases
Tumblr media
-The plates and cutlery are pretty basic, but the cutlery is wrapped in cloth with some more cornflowers attached!
-There’s a small table for the cake in the upper center of the room, near the dance floor
-A white tarp is laid down for the makeshift dance floor
-There are a few plastic tables pushed together with more tablecloths on top so that guests have an area to put the food they brought down
Attendance:
-Pretty small wedding. It has the OG campers and some of their parents, Campbell and QM, some of the old flower scouts (some of which are now garden mothers), Penelope, maybe the woodscouts, and some other unnamed friends and OCs
-Gwen is David’s best man (woman?). Still haven’t really come up with a concrete headcanon for his family, so she also walks him down the aisle
-Neil is Max’s maid of honor (He won in rock paper scissors against Nikki) and also walks Max down the aisle
-Nikki gets to be the ring bearer, though! I love the idea of her walking down the aisle, Max and David wondering where the rings are, then she whistles, and a massive grey wolf appears with the pillow on its head
-No flower girl yet, but I do like the idea of Gwen eventually having a kiddo of her own, so maybe they would be the flower kid, but I also really like Preston doing it too lol
-Your OC is their groomsman or bridesmaid! :D
-Dolph does a live painting of the reception, which he later gives them as a wedding gift
-Harrison probably does some tricks for entertainment during the night
-A lot of people in attendance help set up everything
-Nurf does a lot of the moving stuff, in addition to wood scouts and Campbell
-The flower scouts help with makeup and hair, in addition to bringing over the flowers
-Dolph, Preston, Nerris, Space Kid, and Ered help create a lot of the decorations
-Some of the members go around to help set tables or lay out chairs or place up the lights
-There are a few things that require actual professional help, but most of the wedding is done by David and Max with everybody else.
Attire:
-David wears a classic black suit, with a green tie and a Lisianthus in his breast pocket. His ring is very simple. A gold band with leaves molded on either side of the certain gem (probably an Emerald)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-For Max, I was a bit more conflicted about his outfit. However, Kiteacups (was that their name? I can’t remember 😭) had this really great drawing of Max in a white and blue Sherwani(?), so I’d go with that. If I can find the picture I’ll add it 👍 His ring is also gold but with a more flower shape gem placement and sapphire as the gem
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-He also has a green and blue bouquet that he holds while walking down the aisle
Tumblr media
-For Neil and Nikki, and any other maids of honor, they have on blue!
-Neil:
Tumblr media
-Nikki:
Tumblr media
-And Gwen and the groomsman are in green!
-Gwen:
Tumblr media
-The guests are in varying shades of beige, green, and blue.
-Lots of gold jewelry. Many women wear flats because of the grassy/sandy terrain, but some of the flower scouts stick it out with heels
Food:
-More or less a potluck, with a bit of catering
-Max definitely caters Indian food there while David has vegetarian options
-Lots of side dishes and drinks are brought in
-Campbell brings over some of his alcohol from his cellar. QM would also attempt but immediately be shot down because lord knows you’d take a sip of his stuff and end up with liver failure
-Their wedding cake is large and three-tiered. It is very simple, with white buttercream, non-toxic flowers, and a little drawing that one of the campers made as the topper
Tumblr media
-Lots of cupcakes too, with the same buttercream and edible white sugar flowers
Tumblr media
-They are vanilla flavor ^^
Songs:
-Country music is playing, thanks to David. He’d probably break out the guitar and force everybody to sing the camp song and sing a love song to Max toward the end of the night
-While David has all the romance and slow songs, Max definitely has all the dance songs playing
-Lots of rap, some indie music, maybe a bit of the 2010s pop songs (I like it, alright.) Overall, just a lot of upbeat, makes you want to dance music
-No DJ, but they do have speakers and Max’s laptop that they play music on. People can go up to it and put a song in the queue
-As for the song they dance to… idk 😭 There are so many options like Never Knew I Needed, Take My Name, La Da Dee, Parachute, When I Said I Do, All of Me, etc. However, I think I’ll have to go with Marry You by Bruno Mars as it was the song one of my fics was based on.
-For the ‘Father-Daughter dance’ Max drags Nikki and Neil onto the dance floor and David does the same to Gwen when it’s his turn. Max enjoys it way more
Honey Moon:
-It’s technically a part of the wedding
-I like to think that they go up to Alaska and rent a VERY nice cabin up in the mountains
Tumblr media
-Lots of skiing, hiking, a bit of fishing, and definitely watching the northern lights
-Just cozy vibes. Fireplace-going, home-cooked meals, cuddling under blankets
Tumblr media
-They stay for about a week or two. Some days they spend the entire day away from the cabin and others they don’t even get out of bed
-Max takes a lot of photos
Other miscellaneous stuff:
-Campbell sets off fireworks (illegally) at the end of the night
-When Max does the bouquet toss, Preston gets it. You better believe there was some pushing and shoving from everybody involved
-QM officiates the wedding
-When Max isn’t super busy, he takes photos on his own camera. He’d do the entire wedding himself if he wasn’t, ya know, the one getting married
-In the future, the campers learn that if they want to get out of an activity, just ask David about his wedding
-The platypus is there. Idk what it does but she’s there
-It goes on until far into the morning
-David is a groomzilla. He wants to make sure everything if perfect for his and Max’s special day. Gwen has to help him calm down a lot
-A lot of the DIY stuff they used they also keep. Probably show their future kid (Jai!) all of it, along with wedding photos and videos
-Neil and Nikki were fighting hard for the MOH spot until Max had to put a stop to it. A game of RPS was decided and Neil won. Nikki is pretty pleased as ring bear though
-QM gives David some ‘fatherly’ advice before the wedding or attempts to. David is a bit confused afterward
-They eventually have their rings turned into necklaces, so they can’t be lost as easily or get caught on something
-Wedding gifts go:
Campbell: Really expensive whiskey
QM: A good luck charm
Gwen: Tickets for a hockey game when they go to Alaska
Neil: A new coffee maker
Nikki: A windchime
Dolph: The live reception painting
Nerris: An enchanted wedding ring box
Preston: Homemade knitted Blanket
Space Kid: Snow globe, but with a wedding inside
Nurf: Wooden welcome sign (hand carved)
Ered: Money
Harrison: Nature pillows
-Too lazy to think of the rest, so probably just a lot more money and house necessities

I’m gonna go on a rant because i’m still so salty about a past hyperfixation that was at its peak almost three ago and of course this is about Camp Camp.  I have no desire to rewatch this series ever.  There’s a lot of problamatic elements in the show (As well as the fandom, like dear christ these are literal ten year olds, you freaks of nature) that make me iffy and I do not care about Max & David enough to care anymore (I swear to god, I love found family but dude the fandom oversaturated Dadvid where there was literally nothing else).  So I have no reason to be salty this much about this but I feel like I need to get this out there.
THE SHOW DID NOT UTILIZE HARRISON ENOUGH.  But not just that, they literally throw away any chance of this boy finding happiness or getting any positive development.  But in that, THEY ALSO FUCKED OVER NERRIS IN THE PROCESS. (warning this post may not be conherant)
I’ll primarily talk about Quest to Sleepy Peak Peak, the Camp Corp arc and then the bullshit that is season 4.
Before Sleepy Peak Peak, the first appearance we got of Nerris and Harrison’s dynamic was in the first episode where Nerris was beating Harrison up with a foam sword and throwing dice at him.  The other time was the time with the Camp Cool Kidz episode where they work together as security, seeming to get along until they fall into a trap and telling him he sucks.
In other episodes though they seem to be on friendlier terms.
Like in Mind Freakers, we see Nerris happily watch Harrison preform magic with no sense of rivalry or in Romeo and Juliet ll we see them sit next to each-other when watching Preston’s play (As well as Nerris happily watching him do magic).  Which comes off as confusing since its only been seen that they hate each other (At least Nerris did at first glance)
Then here comes Quest To Sleepy Peak Peak.
This episode is the only one in the series in which it focuses on their dynamic (at least explicitly).  The episode is about Nerris, Harrison, Nikki and Neil playing a game about stopping the “dark forces” within the mountain.  Nerris and Harrison bicker the whole time until the very end where Harrison brings up the possibility that the dark forces were within them the entire time and Nerris goes along with it, and then they try to save the day by putting aside their differences.  Reminder that this is an imaginary game.  Harrison could’ve left at any time, Nerris could’ve just kicked him out and not include him if they really didn’t want him around.  There’s also the fact where Harrison didn’t have to try and make up with Nerris through the game’s storyline.  They don’t hate each-other at all, hell it could be argued they’re on friendly terms and they’re just playful rivals. (who sometimes take it to far)
And from that point foward (Plus even before) they’re seen together and interacting with each other ALL THE TIME.  When they’re not together, its usually with episodes about one of their other dynamics besides each-other.  (Harrison & Neil, Nerris & Ered, Harrison & QuarterMaster, Nerris & Nikki).  I am not joking, there is a full seven minute compilation on youtube of them just being together and interacting (Some of them being the two playing together, talking and of course teasing each other) and in all of them they never came off as if they actively hated each other.
I feel like I should mention The Lake Lilac Summer Dance, where its hinted at Nerris and Harrison wanted to dance together but were to swept up in their rivalry to do anything or in the egg episode where they’re paired up as parents for their egg (Although it went very badly just from them being kids really)  I’m not gonna touch on the Nerrison side of things, this post is primarily about their friendship alone.  You can interpet them however you like, more power to you.  But teaspoon of salt, NERRISON SHIPPERS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRAW OR WRITE NERRIS AND HARRISON.  Half the Nerrison art i’v seen over the past few years has Nerris fucking whitewashed (Lighter skin, straight hair, etc).  The fanfic writers write them as the most cisheteronormative couple ever, even though Nerris is canonically nonbinary.  But then for both the writers and artists, they sexualize them so damn much its gross.  Okay i’m done with that-
But then interactions became sour in the Camp Corp arc for unknown reasons.  Like refusing to talk to each other, Nerris being shown to be annoyed with Harrison just talking. (It is agrued here and there that Harrison mentioning his parents is what annoyed Nerris because they don’t like his parents.  Nerris knows what supportive and loving parents look like and Harrison’s parents are... not that.  But I digress either way)
In the episode where the camp gets shut down, Nikki asks if they’re going to split up.  Even though before they seemed to not want anything to do with the other (Even being enthusiastic about meeting magic kids like them, but also looking a bit betrayed as well that the other would rather be with “real” magic kids),
but when Nikki brings that possibility up they immediatly look to each other worried.  These aren’t just random characters, the show (albeit rather silently mostly) has built their dynamic up until this point, so this is pivotal.
When Max went to pick up Harrison, Harrison mentions that “All we do is pull rabbits out of our hats.  All. Day. Long.” like he was tired of the repititon and everyone being the same.  Of course this applys to Harrison missing the camp as a whole, but this also might be directed towards Nerris specifically because of what the show has built up until now.  He misses having that compititon with Nerris, proving who was “the true magic kid” and somewhat embracing each other’s differences.  But now that everyone was the same and does the same thing, he’s bored without them.
After Harrison, it immediatly cuts to Nerris.  Who looks bored of their mind, even though they were vocally excited about meeting other magic kids like them.  But Nerris is alone and rolling dice on the ground.  They were finally around people like them but Nerris is more unhappy then they were back at camp where Nerris was with a kid who didn’t even study the same magic as them but were constantly lumped together. But at least they were together.
It should be noted that Harrison’s Magic Camp uniform was blue and Nerris’s Magic Camp uniform was red... Just putting that out there.
It then cuts to Nerris boarding the bus after setting their camp on fire, they go up to Harrison.  They share a bitter look at each other and then Harrison happily offers Nerris to sit next to him, then Nerris happily does.  Then all throughout the episode, they’re inseperable.  Ending on them having a water gun fight together with no bitterness towards the other.  Its actually quite beautiful in a way, especially since it was all show not tell.  They kept to their promise that they’ll put aside their differences for the greater good and that’s their friendship.
AND THEN SEASON 4 SHITS ALL OVER THE BEST THING TO COME OUT OF THIS DAMN SHOW.
APPARENTLY NERRIS JUST BULLIES HARRISON NOW AND HARRISON JUST SITS THERE LIKE A WET DOG WITH NONE OF HIS NORMAL COMEBACKS WHEN NERRIS IS TEASING OR ANTAGONIZING HIM.  Like in Sleepy Peak Peak, Harrison doesn’t just stand there and let Nerris make fun of him, like he makes of them too???
Also apparently the whole camp hates Harrison now for no fucking reason even though they’re supposed to be a family and THAT’S WHAT THE CAMP CORP ARC WAS ALL  ABOUT.   Anyway, Nerris just lets the camp bully Harrison for no reason and drive him out on their hike, leading to Harrison hanging with Quartermaster and going on about how much he’s an outcast and how he has no friends whatsoever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NO FRIENDS WHATSOEVER
A part of their dynamic that really shined was the fact they were both outcasts in camp and stuck together even with their differences and disagreements.  BUT NOPE, FUCK THAT, EVEN THOUGH NERRIS CONFIRMS THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE PASSIONATE IN MAGIC AND LARP IT GETS LONELY AND FEELS LIKE NO-ONE UNDERSTANDS THEM, THAT EXCHANGE WAS WITH NIKKI (more understandable) AND THE HITLER JOKE (less understandable). Like don’t get me wrong, it was pretty cute and I love getting more character to Nerris.  BUT Y’KNOW WHERE THAT EXCHANGE SHOULD’VE BEEN IN?!
IN HARRISON’S FUCKING EPISODE ALL ABOUT HIM FEELING LIKE AN OUTCAST.
But since season 4 is to busy making Harrison miserable to flesh out his already existing friendships, they make Nerris this bully and it waters down that confession.  Nerris admitting their lonelyness would’ve been super powerful if it was with Harrison since we’re already familiar with their dynamic and would’ve been character development for both of them since Camp Corp. But nope.
This was longer then I wanted it to be.

chapter 4 - partners in crime
series masterlist
————
you walked into yours and tom’s shared apart, laughing at a comment tom said as he followed behind. it was nice. actually talking to tom. you forgot about all your past with him. it was like he’s never changed. something you think could never happen. but, here you were, laughing at one of tom’s classic sarcastic remarks. which was one of the many reason’s you fell in love with tom.
you see, after you both...broke up, it was terrible. not only did you loose your boyfriend, but your best friend too. you and tom have known each other for years, and of course once you grew older, you started to fall head over heels for each other.
you were the first to fall in love with the holland. you were around 8, while tom was 10. in your head, at that age, you didn’t truly understand what it meant by ‘love’. you thought love was like royalty, based off all the princess films and books you watched. the prince, was always strong. but, most importantly, he will always try and impress the princess. no matter the cost. so, when little old tom was showing off his drawing to you, you froze. tom was your prince. and so you fell in love with him. well, rather the act he put it for you.
however, when you moved into high school, you still didn’t know what ‘love’ truly means. of course, you gained some knowledge on the subject, but you thought all ‘love’ meant was sex and selfies for social media. you thought the idea of love, was to impress other people, not yourself. so, when you and tom had your first kiss (for a whole 10 seconds) you really thought you found your soulmate. or rather the idea of your soulmate
now when you and tom grew up into adults, both of you realised what ‘love’ actually means. it’s not for social media. or your friends. it’s not trying to impress the other person. it’s not intimacy. it’s not the fancy dates, to show the world how much money you’ve got.
true love, is having a shoulder to cry on. a shoulder to vent to, about anything without feeling scared or embarrassed. true love is the person who supports you the most. true love is looking after each other, when they’re too drunk to remember their own name. so, as an adult you finally realise what true love means. and realise how tom has been your true prince, since the start.
but, since you broke up, you felt too upset. too angry to speak to tom. it caused you to fall apart from each other. in a intimate way and a friendly way.
it was easy. moving from being best friends, to a couple. but, since breaking up as a couple, you also broke up as friends. and it hurt you both.
“well, what’s the plan now with the case.” you sighed, pouring you and tom a cup of coffee.
tom laughed, “well since i barged in on them, which will help, trust me, we now know what there exact plan is. without taking it from a computer screen.”
“i’m not going to lie tom,” you spoke, picking up the two steamy cups, and walking over to the table tom was sat on, placing them on the countertop and sitting opposite him, “you could of at least warned me you were going to go, instead of just well...leaving the apartment.”
tom rolled his eyes, playfully, “y/n, i always do stuff on my own remember, so i’m sorry if i forget to tell you that i’m leaving.”
“it could of became 10 times worse!”
“but did it?” tom winked, sipping his coffee, before making a face as it was too hot still.
“touché.” you shrugged. you were only looking out for him.
“so,” tom spoke, breaking the silence, “how have you been?”
“what do you mean?”
“well, i haven’t spoke to you since we you know, so how have you been?”
“oh,” you shrugged, “i’m good. just focusing on work, that’s all what’s happening with me.”
tom laughed, “of course, you’re main priority is work.”
“and that’s a bad thing?”
“no,” tom looked at you, “i didn’t say that, it’s good. you always put other people in front of you, one of the reasons i love you.”
you froze. love. not loved. love. he still loves you?
“i-i mean why i fell in love with you.”
“how are you?” you asked, changing the subject quickly.
“oh erm it’s fine. nothing really exciting going on in my life at the moment. how’s your brother?”
“max is good, he’s getting married next year to amelia.” you replied, blowing on your coffee.
you didn’t mind tom asking about your family. even though, your brother hates tom’s guts after he broke up with you, he will always have a soft spot for tom. they both practically grew up together.
“that’s sweet. i knew they would always end up together.”
you couldn’t help but cause your heat to clench at his words. that’s what people said about you two. but, of course life happens.
“mum asks about you, you know,” he carried on, “she misses you.”
guilt rose in you at what tom was saying. because tom grew close to your family, you grew close to him. his family was like yours. but, you lost contact in them all since the break up.
“she misses your outings to get coffee.” he added.
you and nikki have always been close, so every two weeks you would go out, just you two, to different cafe’s to eat, drink and talk each other’s ears off. it was super nice and soon became a tradition between the two of you. a tradition, that has stopped.
“same.” you frowned slightly, skimming your finger over the top of the coffee mug, remembering all the laughs you both had. tom sensed how guilty you felt, immediately regretting bringing up each other’s families.
“erm,” he coughed, awkwardly, “have you told carson what’s happened?”
“yeah, i texted him quickly on the way up.” you nodded, hating how awkward it got so quickly. tom nodded back, unsure on how to respond. or if he should respond.
“right, thanks to our new friends, we now have a better chance at getting our score.” keith spoke through the computer to one of the men, finally breaking the awkward silence in the apartment. you smiled slightly at tom, him returning the gesture, before you both got up to go over to the screen.
“isn’t there something else we can get? like a million dollars or something?”
keith laughed, “that’s what all the mob groups go for, but we’re different, yes? we’re going for the best score. and thanks to our fbi friend, we know have more entail, so get to work and sort out another meeting with our new friends, okay?”
“yes sir.” the man replied, walking away before keith left with his bodyguards.
your eyes went wide. fbi friend? who’s working with the red dragons?
“what?” tom whispered, thinking the same as you.
you looked at tom, to lock with his as you both stared at each other.
“is there a mole in the agency?” you mumbled, not believing what you were saying.
tom shook his head, “i don’t know. i don’t know who could do something like this. i-i don’t know who betray us like this.”
“who has access to the fbi database, especially about the red dragons?”
“erm, me, you, carson, harrison, peter-“
“wait, harrison?”
“no, it couldn’t be him. i trust him with my life.”
you looked at him, before turning around to log onto the fbi website. clicking numerous of buttons, you went onto the red dragons recent log ins, to see how harrison was only logged in a few minutes ago. showing tom the computer screen, he shook his head.
“we can’t just believe it’s him, after what a log in? anyone could have done it!”
“tom, i can’t believe it either, but he has worked on the red dragons before, maybe he’s decided to work with them?”
“no, y/n, i can’t believe your judging him based off this!”
“i’m only judging on what is there, tom. harrison has logged in, a few minutes ago which is when we found out about the mole in the first place. a coincidence? i think not!” you screeched.
tom groaned, “i-i can’t belive you. harrison is my best friend. he was yours as well.”
“well, things change.” you growled.
you and tom gave each other a hard stare, before you breathed out heavily, walking away into your room, locking the door behind you. you leaned against the door, sighing loudly.
so much for you and tom being friends again.

“Be good at school, okay?” Nikki tells her twin boys, Sam and Harry. “Behave and listen to your teacher. I’ll pick you up later.”
“Yes, mum.” they say in unison. Nikki smiles and kisses both of their foreheads. She smiles at them and she shakes her head as she sees them running off inside the room where their classes are held. Sam and Harry are starting their first day of school and they’re really excited to meet new people. After all, they only knew their family members and some of their neighbors. They wanted to explore and they wanted to go to the big school where their older brother, Tom, studies.
They were really sad when they were told by Nikki and Dom that they couldn’t attend the big school just yet. They were too young after all. They are currently enrolled at the small school near their house which was just a short drive. Nikki and Dom dropped off the twins first before driving Tom to his school.
-
Sam and Harry take a seat next to each other as they look around. They felt so happy to see new faces and they were excited to talk to other kids. They loved their brother very much, but sometimes they’d get tired of him. You know how children are with their short attention span, so this little escape from Tom was nice.
The teacher comes in a few minutes later and tells everyone to settle down. She introduces herself as Maggie and their first activity is to create their own name tags. Sam and Harry excitedly bring out their new crayons and paper. They even had stickers for decoration!
“I’ll draw robots on my name tag!” Harry tells Sam. Sam nods and says, “Okay! I’ll draw cars on mine like our car!”
Sam and Harry made small talk with the other two people on their table, Lawrence and Katie, and they quickly got along together. To say that teacher Maggie was delighted is an understatement. She was overjoyed to see that all the kids are getting along!
“I drew pretty flowers on mine!” Katie smiles and proudly shows it off to the boys.
“Oooh!”
“Wow!”
“That’s great, Katie!”
Katie thanks them and proceeds to draw more flowers. Lawrence shows his name tag too and he drew Superman... or at least tried to. It was a stick man with a red cape. Regardless, Sam, Harry, and Katie were amazed at his drawing. The twins showed their drawings too.
“Alright kids!” Maggie calls, “It’s snack time! I’ll go around each table to put strings on your name tags so you can wear it, okay?”
“Okay!” all the kids say excitedly as they all take out the snacks that their parents prepared for them. Maggie’s too busy roaming around each table to see someone standing by the door.
“Teacher Maggie, there’s someone at the door.” James, one of the kids, informs her. She turns around and sees a man wearing a business suit with a little girl hiding behind his legs. Maggie thanks James before walking to the door.
“I’m Maggie. How may I help you, sir?” Maggie quietly asks with a small smile. She didn’t want the kids to hear what was going on. Unfortunately, kids are naturally nosy so all of them watched while eating their snacks.
“I’m so sorry she’s late. I had to drive my wife to the hospital, because our driver is on a day off at the moment and no one else could drive her.” the man explains.
“Oh, I hope she’s alright!.” Maggie frowns.
The man smiles, “She’s alright. She’s just about to give birth and I have to leave now so I don’t miss it.”
“Well, congratulations! You may leave her here now. I’ll hand it.” Maggie tells him. He thanks and quickly bids goodbye to his daughter with a kiss on the head before leaving.
“Let’s get you inside, yeah?” Maggie holds the girl’s hand and walks in the room with her. All the kids quickly turn away and pretended that they didn’t watch everything. Of course, Maggie saw it and just shakes her head.
Maggie tells her to sit anywhere she likes and of course, the girl picks the nearest table. The kids at her table immediately give her a warm welcome and she smiles and introduces herself, “Hi, I’m Y/N!”
Maggie tells Y/N what they did and that they’re currently having snacks, “You can create your name tag after snack time, okay?” Y/N nods and eats her snacks with her new friends. Maggie smiles at the sight before continuing where she left off.
“The new girl is pretty.” Katie says nonchalantly. Lawrence just nods, his mouth was full. Sam just shrugs, “I guess. What do you think, Harry?” He turns to his twin who’s already looking at the new girl. Sam waves a hand in front him, “Harry?”
Harry looks at Sam and says, “What did you say?”
“I was asking what you think of the new girl.” Sam repeats. “Katie thinks she’s pretty.”
“I agree with Katie. The new girl has nice hair.” Lawrence beams and this time, it’s Katie’s turn to nod.
“I think she’s alright.” Sam says, “Her clothes seem really fancy, though. What do you think of the new girl, Harry?” Sam asks once more.
“She’s really pretty!” Harry exclaims with a grin. “I like her hair too. It’s so neat and her clothes really are fancy. What does mum call it again? Extensive?”
“No, that’s not it.” Sam shakes his head. “I think it was spensive?”
Lawrence rolls his eyes and giggles, “It’s expensive.”
“There we go!” Harry giggles too. “Her clothes are ex-pen-sive!”
Harry couldn’t stop looking at the new girl for the rest of the day. He’s excited to tell his mum about it!
-
“How was school?” Nikki smiles at them as she helps them into the car.
“It was fun!” Harry shouts.
“Yeah, and we made name tags and we sang songs!” Sam shouts too.
“Okay, okay.” Nikki chuckles. “No need to shout. We’ll pick up Tom from his big school.”
“Yay! We get to see his big school!” Sam cheers.
The three of them talked about random stuff on the way to Tom’s school. When they arrive, the twins are in awe.
“So this is what big school looks like.” Harry mumbles.
Of course, it was still kind of small. But to them, it was a palace. They see Tom running to the car and before they knew it, Tom was in the backseat with them.
“How was school?” Nikki asks her oldest son as she drives back home. Tom’s school was quite far, but at least she had the children to keep her company.
“It was great! Max was there and he said he wants to sleepover again.” Tom smiles. “Is that okay?”
“Yes, but not now.” Nikki chuckles. “Tom, why don’t you ask your brothers how their first day of school went?”
Tom turns to his twin brothers and ask, “How was it?”
“It was fun! We made new friends and we made cool name tags and we sang songs!” Harry boasts.
“Yeah! Then a girl went there late.” Sam mentions. Harry nods, “Yeah and she’s really pretty and she has nice hair and she has... what does she have again, Sam?”
“Ex-pen-sive clothes.” Sam giggles.
“Sounds fancy.” Nikki comments.
“We don’t know her name, though.” Sam shrugs.
“Why?” Tom asks with furrowed eyebrows.
“We didn’t see her name tag.” Harry frowns. “But yeah she was really pretty.”
“HARRY HAS A CRUSH!!” Tom teases. Sam laughs and Harry just pouts, “Mum, make him stop!”
“Tom, stop teasing your brother.” Nikki says as she shakes her head and looks at Tom through the rear view mirror. “Say sorry.”
“I’m sorry, Harry.” Tom says.
“It’s okay.” Harry smiles.
At that time, Harry didn’t know that his eight year old brother was actually right.

Along for the Ride
Tumblr media
Figured that I would try my hand at writing. This is just more of an introduction to the scene rather than the character herself, but that will be coming soon enough. Based on The Dirt (2019).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They call New York the city that never sleeps, and as a stranger to the East Coast, I was inclined to deny the cliche when I first moved to the Sunset Strip. Initially it seemed like the Strip never slept, with the blaring neon lights of the bars and clubs. This combined with the music scene draws in the young crowds of those who entertain and those who are entertained. The Strip creates an allure to pull out those chasing dreams, but this allure soon vanishes come Monday to reveal only shadows. New York City remains the city that never sleeps, the Sunset Strip doesn’t sleep on the weekends. Given this, it only makes sense that just about everyone living here is chasing the high of the weekend, and then dragging themselves through the week. I love the weekend nightlife more than anything else, it separates the people I have to endure from the people who I want to be around.
From the moment the clubs open on Friday until last call on Sunday night, which I guess is really early Monday, London gives me a chance to feel alive. As a band, London attracts the best of the Strip and I love every second of it. The high from being on stage is enough to envy every junkie out there. Jack nor coke can give me the same feeling that a dimly lit room, stuffed to the brim with bodies emitting pure heat and rock and roll could. I left Seattle, my mother Deanna and the revolving door of asshole boyfriends in search of this exact feeling. This is where I finally feel at home. However, there was one thing that ruined this high every time, London. Ironic, right?
London and the music worked fucking wonders, but the people in London are dog shit. The tension between myself and the rest of the band mates rivals that of an elastic band strung to the max. We are a ticking time bomb. Our almost daily band practice had finished today around 11:30, that was added on top of an 8 hour day at the Starwood and I felt exhausted. The walk home served as a moment of relaxation. Even though it was Thursday night, there were still people frequenting the bars; But the people were weekday regulars that live to drink, rather than those who drink to add to the experience of being alive. Though it seemed that there was not much life to the Strip, the diner up ahead, “Tiffany’s 24/7 Dine-In”, seemed as lively as it could get. I could hear it before I could see it. From the outside, the sound was somewhat muffled by the layer of glass, but I could make out Slow Ride by Foghat playing. Wasn’t entirely my style of music but it was close enough. As I begin to pass by the window, I glance in to see why it was so loud.
The only person that occupied the entire dining room was a girl, suited in a dress I could only assume was a uniform, buffing the floors. It was not my intention to stop and stare, and I honestly could not decipher what was so intriguing about her, but I am completely stopped in my tracks to take her in. She was shorter than myself, but was not swallowed by the fabric she wore, filling it out in what I might call “all the right places”. The most encapsulating part about her was the lightness with which she moved while controlling a machine that could jolt even the most steady people. She swayed the machine lightly back and forth across the floors, while nodding her head along to the beat. I can slightly make out her voice singing along to the words with ease. Suddenly, she looked up at me out the window and it startled me, I felt caught. Her face turned upwards into a smirk and she jutted out her chin while nodding at me, giving a sign of acknowledgement. For whatever reason, I took this as an invitation to come into the diner. The music struck me with a certain intensity as she yelled, “Sorry about that! Have a seat wherever you like and I’ll turn that down and be with you in just a second!”
Her voice was steady and held a certain feather light feeling, the same as her movements did, and I just wanted to hear it again. I stepped over the cord attached to the buffer and slid into the booth facing the bar, watching her stretch to reach the volume dial on the radio atop a sliding door refrigerator.
She glided around the bar, swiping a menu from a shelf hidden from my vision and smiled up at me, “Welcome to Tiff’s, can I get you something to drink while you have a look at the menu?”
“Would a Jack and Coke be acceptable to serve on a Thursday night?” I asked, not because I needed her opinion on my drinking habit, but because I wanted to keep hearing her voice.
“Are you asking me whether I find the consumption of alcohol on a weekday moral, or if this establishment serves on a Thursday?” she replied, hand on her hip while leaning against the coat rack extending from the booth.
“Humour me with both.” I smirked, relaxing back into the seat having finally found my rhythm with her. The next answer she gave would gauge whether or not I continue to push her buttons.
“Tiff’s, like most other diners, will serve you morning, noon and night any day of the week” she started, “and as for myself, I think booze is far too much fun to contain to the weekend. Only pussies and prudes save drinking for two days of the week” She seemed to mean this despite the humour in her voice, and I was thoroughly pleased with her answer.
“Mija! Watch your language with the customers!” spoke a voice from behind the server’s window. She chuckled a little, before turning to the window and calling out “Carlos, I always gauge my audience!” A shorter tan man popped his head up from behind the window before disappearing again, “I see what you mean. Carry on!” She turned back to me with a smile on her face, “Don’t take offence to that. You’re just not married with kids or above the age of 60, so I’ve lost my filter. Is that a problem?”
“Not at all” I said while shaking my head, and she took that as her cue to start grabbing my drink. Returning, with it in her hand she slid into the booth opposite me and asked, “Anything on the menu caught your eye?” I shook my head again and began to hand her the menu, “Just the drink will be fine for tonight.” She gave an appreciative nod, before leaving to grab the cord for the buffer cord out of the wall.
“Can I put you down for an order of solitude to go with your JC or are you interested in conversation?” She called out from the other side of the diner, but before I had the chance to answer she continued “Cause I can ramble for at least 10 JCs!” Taking a sip, I leaned further into the booth to give her the impression I needed to appreciate the options when I knew exactly what I wanted to say. She continued to wrap up the cord around the buffer, leaving it in its spot and glancing up at me in anticipation of my answer.
“Conversation. But if you become too annoying I’ll put a 5 on the table and take off”  continuing to push her buttons, seeing if she could take it and dish it out.
“Fair enough,” and with that she slid back into the booth.
“Start with your name” she told me rather than asked.
“Why can’t I have yours?” I asked, realising I had not even bothered to glance at her name tag. It read Janis Jade. She caught me reading, “Cause you just read it off my chest but I don’t have that luxury.” Shrugging my shoulders, I said “Nikki Sixx,” I hadn’t seen the smile leave her face since we caught eyes in the window, but it grew wider and I thought she might have recognized me so I prepared for a slew of questions and rambling to follow.
“That’s the sickest fucking name I’ve ever heard, and I know for a god damn fact you picked it out yourself” she glowed as she spoke with an infectious amount of genuine enthusiasm. I nodded, chuckling as I did so.
“Let me guess, you’re named after the infamous Janis Joplin” I smirked as I took a drink. She screwed her eyebrows together, almost offended.
“How old do you think I am Sixx?” she asked, again I shrugged shoulders. “I had my name prior to Miss Joplin’s rise to fame, but my parent’s wore shit eating grins everyday about my name after she started getting big.” I nodded along to her story, somehow knowing I was in for a good conversation.
For the next two hours, we swapped tales and although she did most of the talking, I was glad to sit back and listen. She wasn’t wrong when she said she could talk for at least 10 JCs. Janis was full of life and everything I absolutely wasn’t and I couldn’t help but want to know more. I realized that I needed to be heading out, so I began rummaging in my jacket for my wallet. She saw this, and I stopped for a second as I remembered my earlier comment, “Trust me doll, you’re not annoying me but I should be heading out.” She nodded understandingly, “No worries Sixx, you want me to grab your change?” I shook my head at her, and started getting out of the booth. “Your shift done soon? I can walk you home.”
She smiled, “I’m here until 7am but thank you for the offer.” As I began to walk out, I paused while pushing on the door handle, “I hope to see you around Joplin.” She smiled from where she stood, “Don’t worry Sixx, you will” and gave me a two fingered salute before returning to where the buffing machine had sat for the last two hours. I returned home with a new found appreciation for the little diner on the Strip.

Redraws (and slight redesigns) of my Camp Camp Fan Kids.
Tumblr media
Introducing Mina Goodplay and Christene Nurfington (the daughters of Nurf and Preston, clearly. Parents are divorced hence the different names)
Mina is an eleven year old girl. She’s very girly, very frilly, and is extremely emotionally driven. She’s absolutely best friends with Jasmine (who will be featured later). Mina has a tendency to be very creative with singing, art, acting, and writing. She is signed up for fanfiction writing camp. She’s not very close with her little sister (or Nurf) and actually has a bit of spite towards them, having all but disowned the,. Mina has a short temper as well, much like her father’s.
Christene is a nine year old girl. She’s sweet and a tiny bit shy, I will admit. She loves animals and is signed up for horse riding camp. Christene adores her whole family and is a bit of a daddy’s girl. Christene is very close with most kids at the surrounding summer camps (all the camp campbell kids were practically raised together) and she’s been adopted as an honorary flower scout by Khloe and Anais (will be brought up later). The only person she really doesn’t get along with is her sister, Mina, and that’s mostly Mina’s doing tbh.
Tumblr media
Here we have Miss Cyra Houston. (Daughter of Dolph and Space Kid)
Cyra is a six year old girl. She’s the perfect blend of her parents. She’s energetic and sweet (although sometimes a bit too naive). She has an interest in space (she wants to be like her daddy) and is signed up for life drawing camp, mostly drawing..space related things. She’s absolutely best friends with Isaiah (will be brought up later), who is the only kid around her age. Cyra does feel left out sometimes though. All the kids adore one another but she’s kinda the annoying little sister of the group and most of the others find her embarrassing.
Tumblr media
These are Jasmine, Isaiah, and Clover (Children of Max, Nikki, and Neil)
Jasmine is a thirteen year old girl, the oldest of the current camp campbell kids. She’s clever and witty and a bit sarcastic, taking after her father in that reguard. However Jasmine is also rather girly and as a result is closer friends with Mina goodplay than anybody else. She also happens to have a crush on Gary Miller (he’ll show up later). Jasmine has always been very close with her parents as well and literally fights anyone who talks bad about them. She’s signed up for knitting camp, having learned how to knit at a young age from her father.
Isaiah is, much like his best friend Cyra, a very energetic, kind boy. However while his friend is an artsy type, Isaiah really enjoys the outdoors and is in bug-catching camp, collecting bugs as ‘friends’. He refused to come to camp until this year, being extremely attached to his parents, and they (Max in particular) didn’t have the heart to force him to go. However eventually his sisters and friends convinced him, so while he clings to Cyra, his sisters, and the counselors a lot, Isaiah is managing (and he’s allowed to call his parents every day).
Clover is j u s t like her mother. She’s physically active, hyper, energetic, she loves to move and can’t sit still e v e r. Clover also has a very quick temper, though, and will fucking fight you. She’s actually signed up for hand to hand combat camp. She’s very good friends with Hary and Gary Miller (will be mentioned later) and a flower scout, Georgia (Will also be mentioned later)
Tumblr media
Hary and Gary Miller (Kids of Nerris, Harrison, and Ered)
Hary Miller takes after Nerris and Harrison. As in, he actually does take an interest in magic. However he isn’t into the type of magic his parents are. He’s intererested in magic like what he sees in..anime. He’s in anime camp and is just really excited about anime in general. He’s a very agreeable person too and is part of “the cool kids group” as they labeled a friend group consisting of himself, Gary, Clover, and one of the flower scouts, Georgia. Though to be honest none of them are that cool when you think about it.
Gary is interesting. Like his brother he’s into anime and is in anime camp. However he’s a lot more like Ered. You see, Gary grew up on stories about camp campbell from his parents and honorary aunts/uncles and alike. He just kinda misinterpreted his mother’s desire to be cool as something to strive for instead of something embarrassing that she got over (mostly) so Gary is constantly trying to look cool and comes across as a bit obsessed.
Tumblr media
Finally we have our Flower Scouts. Khloe, Anais, and Georgia (the daughters of Sasha, Erin, and Tabii, clearly)
Anais is the leader type. She likes to take charge and always knows what to do. She can be protective and a bit pushy but out of all the kids she really is the most responsible. She and her sister, Khloe, have taken Christene Nurfington in as their honorary fourth sister.
Khloe is eleven years old. She’s always getting into trouble and because of it gets on well with Jasmine and Clover, who are rather mischevious as well. However her closest friends will always be her sisters and Christene.
Georgia is a sweet girl who’ll do anything she’s told to by her friends. She can be a bit..well, a bit dumb sometimes, but she tries her best. She’s part of the “cool kids group” with Clover, Hary, and Gary, and she (along with her sisters) often wind up sneaking over to Camp Campbell to spend time with their friends.

I heard you were looking for some fic prompts and uhh maybe an alternative ending where Avery doesn’t show up and pat asks pen to dance with him
Thanks for this prompt, anon! It took 3 viewings of the new season and 4 days for me to process my feelings about it before I could write my first S3 fic, but this turned out really fun.
Penelope x Schneider, One Day At A Time. Also on AO3.
[italicized portion taken directly from the scene in episode 3.13]
Penelope waved Schneider over to her table, aiming a sad face at him that didn’t quite reach the level of his. “Are you okay?”
He hunched over the table a little. “Oh, no, I’m all kinds of messed up. You?”
“Seeing that father-daughter dance really made me happy, but if one more person tells me, ‘You’ll find someone,’ I’m setting off the sprinklers, and we’re gonna see who has extensions real quick.”
Nudging Schneider with her elbow got him to laugh a little, and she was still smiling as his faded.
He sighed. “I can’t get over Avery. I had a magical angel woman who wanted a future with me, and I screwed it up.”
“Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
“I’m sorry. A wedding probably isn’t the best place for me right now.”
“Well, I’m glad you came. Otherwise, I’d be the only single loser here, so…”
Penelope sipped her drink and offered Schneider her most winning smile, still hoping she could draw him out of his funk. “So, the supermodel. Not even a little spark?”
“No.” He hung his head. “I think I’m over meaningless attraction, Pen. After Avery…I don’t know, what if she was my best chance at a real future with someone?”
“She’s the first person you’ve tried to have an actual relationship with,” Penelope pointed out. “It’s a little soon to decide it’s all over for you.”
She glanced at the dance floor, where the Chicken Dance seemed like it might never end. “But the part where you want more than just a fling? That could be a good thing, Schneider. It’s about time you opened yourself up to dating like an adult–I would hate to see you throw that progress away just because you’re hurting.”
Schneider sighed again. “Eh, well. Enough about me. You’re at Victor’s wedding, that’s gotta be weird.”
“You are not wrong.” Penelope couldn’t help but laugh when she caught her mother stealing the dance floor with her flapping arms, Dr. B flapping along from a distance.
“Then again,” she added, “what isn’t weird lately?”
“Good point.”
The manic music finally died down, gliding into a slow song as couples pulled each other close. Her Mami found a stray man to pair off with, leaving Dr. Berkowitz standing alone before other dancers blocked them from Penelope’s view.
“I am happy for Victor,” she assured Schneider, her smile fading. “But of all the times not to have a date…”
“I hear ya. Sorry about Mateo, by the way. With everything, I don’t think I said that yet.”
“It’s fine.” Penelope shrugged. “He deserved somebody who was a really good fit.”
“So do you.”
Schneider smiled at her. “And in the meantime, how about this wedding’s two single losers cut a rug?”
“Huh?” .
“We shouldn’t be stuck moping here all night.” He stood, reaching for her hand. “Let’s dance, Pen.”
His grin caught her off guard. Rapidly shifting moods worried her these days just as much as seeing Schneider in a funk. His relapse had shaken their friendship, and they were still slowly building it back up again.
But compared to being depressed over Avery, at least at the moment he was smiling. That was reason enough for Penelope to follow him to the dance floor and rest one hand on his shoulder while he kept hold of the other.
“You look really nice,” Schneider said as they began to move.
“Thanks, Schneider. I guess that’s something, at least.”
“What do you mean?”
She caught one of Victor’s cousins watching her and shook her head. “Oh, you know. Everybody here is ready to throw me a pity party. And I’m fine!”
He blinked. “Of course you are, Penelope. You’re rocking at this whole life thing.”
“It’s just so frustrating. I could find someone in a heartbeat. I have absolutely no trouble finding someone.”
“Well, if I know that’s true, and you know that’s true…then why is it bothering you so much?”
Schneider shifted a little closer as they turned in a slow circle, and she closed  her eyes, trying to relax. “I don’t know. It’s just bugging me.”
“Okay.”
He was quiet after that, and she focused on the feel of his hand in hers, the warmth of his fingers pressing into her waist. It was strange, wasn’t it, that they’d never danced together like this before?
Sure, he’d joined her for a couple of dances at Elena’s quinces, mostly because he was too cheerful about it for her to tell him no without feeling like a total jerk. But those had been fast songs, and friendly dances. There was absolutely no touching involved.
And at the school dance they’d both chaperoned, he’d danced with her Mami after he and Nikki broke up, the two of them salsaing whether the music called for it or not. It had made her smile even while her mind was worrying over Max’s words. But because there was Max, it would never have occurred to her to dance with Schneider.
What a difference a year made.
“I’m not sure I can keep a man,” Penelope blurted out, making Schneider’s footsteps falter for a second before he glided her back into a waltz.
“What are you talking about?”
“All those people telling me I’ll find someone someday, I know they don’t know what they’re talking about. I’m really good at finding someone. And they’re all great guys.”
“Yeah, I remember.” Schneider’s face got that slightly starstruck look that returned whenever he thought about Max, and she rolled her eyes.
“So, you know…I can get a man. I’m just not so good at keeping them. No matter how great they are on paper, I can’t make it work. A relationship isn’t everything–it’s not even at the top of my bucket list right now. But it really sucks anyway, not being good at them.”
He stopped dancing, stepping back with her hand still gripped in his. “Hey, hey. Who says you’re not good at relationships?”
Penelope glanced over her shoulder. “Well, Tia Pity over there, for starters. And all the other people who look at me and see a failure just because my marriage didn’t work out.”
“Your marriage ending was not your fault,” Schneider insisted, his voice low among the crowd. “You’re not responsible for Victor’s choices, Penelope. You had kids to think about.”
“And I didn’t fight for Max,” she continued, as though he hadn’t spoken. “I gave Mateo so little of my attention we were barely dating even while we were dating. I know it takes two people to make a relationship work, but I’m not blameless. Those women clicking their tongues sympathetically at me tonight, they have a point. I might never find somebody to spend my life with.”
He shook his head and pulled her close. “Come here.”
Once she was dancing with him again, her face almost resting against his chest, Schneider continued.
“You’re talking to the guy who ruined the only good thing he had going for him,” he said. “I’m officially an expert on being bad at relationships–and I’ve only had one, so you have to admit that’s impressive.”
“Schneider…”
Penelope tipped her head up to look at him, their eyes meeting as the song ended.
He leaned back, letting go of her hand. “Thanks for the dance.”
She stepped forward, closing in on his space again. “Where do you think you’re going? We’re not finished.”
Schneider’s forehead wrinkled to match his confused tone. “We’re not?”
“No, dummy. Who else am I gonna dance with if you leave me stranded here?”
Still bewildered, he let Penelope’s fingers wrap around his, his other hand resting on her hip this time. The new music was slower; they swayed along with it while she bit her bottom lip and chose her next words carefully.
“What you just said about Avery, that’s crap.”
“Penelope–”
“I mean it. You were going through a hard time, harder than you have in years. You don’t have a special talent for ruining relationships just because that one ended. Because in case you hadn’t noticed, this right here? Is a relationship too. Not like you and Avery, but still going strong after years of up and downs. And so are your relationships with my Mami, and Elena and Alex. So stop telling yourself she was the only good thing, okay? It’s not true.”
His hand squeezed hers while she settled against him, deciding the time for formalities was over.
“You’re right,” Schneider murmured. “I’m sorry. You and your family…you guys are the best thing. You always have been. It’s just harder now.”
“What is?”
He was silent for so long, she thought he might not answer the question.
“Hoping,” Schneider finally said, resting his cheek against the top of her head.
“Right.” She nodded, curls tickling his face. “I get that. But, Schneider?”
“Yeah?”
“We were there, through all of it. We’re still here. If it hurts too much to hope yet, maybe try trusting that instead. You have us.”
She smiled against his lapel. “And if we can make it through the worst with you, then there’s totally a woman out there who could too. One just as special as Avery. You’ll find her.”
“Well, if that’s true, then you’ve got nothing to worry about.”
“Because you’ll be too busy to keep barging in at all hours?” She teased.
“No,” he replied, not joking at all. “Because if there really is someone out there for me, then you’re definitely going to find love again, Penelope. The kind that lasts.”
Schneider’s hands slid to the small of her back as the second song became a third, neither of them moving to end the dance.
“You think so, huh?”
“I know it,” he insisted, his eyes clearing for the first time all night. “It might not be at the top of your list, but it’ll happen. Nobody deserves it more than you.”
Penelope was still trying to figure out what to say to that when Schneider dipped her, grinning before he pulled her back into him and led her into a salsa.
She saw her Mami tango by with Dr. Berkowitz, no more concerned than Schneider about how they stood out from the crowd, and gave in.
It was her ex-husband’s wedding, after all. She knew before she came that she wouldn’t be having a fabulous time. She couldn’t even make his friends and family stop looking at her like she was doomed to die alone.
But no matter what they thought, she wasn’t alone.
Schneider was throwing goofy flourishes into his dance moves, singing off-key along with the music, his hands warm where they gripped her hips.
Maybe they were both bad at relationships. Maybe they would both be single for the next thirty years.
Whatever the future held, Penelope had better things to do than worry about it right then.
She would rather salsa.

an essay on nerrison
an essay
i absolutely love this ship to death if i had one wish granted it would be to make this canon i love them both they are perfect for each other i swear i will write fanfiction for this one day or draw fanart or something because i need to contribute but im not confident enough yet the ship is so pure it will forever sail in my heart and its canon in my mind and its my otp imagine all the cute fluffy scenarios they could get into harrison probably treats her like a goddess or a queen or something idk but just pure perfect ship ok
seriously though the reason i started to ship this (from what i remember cause i have an awful memory) was because of all the interactions they had. the sleepy peak peak episode was cute, even though they never had direct ‘nerrison’. but cmon they literally decided to stop fighting so they can save nikki what a power couple.
also don’t get me started on the lake lilac summer social episode. when the first dancing thingy came on you can see them in the top right corner and they look at each other for a second then theyre like ‘nope’ to which later on you can see them standing on opposite sides of the room with nerris looking salty and harrison being one sad boi. later on in the episode the second dance comes on (the slow dance) and nerris looks at harrison but he’s already walking off. rip
in that one episode where the kids all go off to their own camps (i forget the name of it) and where max tries to get them all back he gets harrison first and nerris second and she had so many seat options on the bus but no next to harrison she goes. and harrison even scoots over so she can sit. yes
in that same episode someone asks ‘weren’t you kids happy in your own camps’ nerris and harrison look at each other with sad/worried expressions on their face which im pretty sure means ‘no i missed you’ and that scene was great.
another episode that i forget the name of they look at each other happily but then they realize ‘wait we’re supposed to hate each other’ and then they look kinda sad after that.
in another episode harrison is doin some magic tricks n all that and nerris is watching but then she turns around and he looks sad.
also. the one where the platypus lays eggs. i know harrison accidentally kills it but they got paired together cmon
if i remember correctly in a season 3 promotional poster they are seen together with nerris having this smug af look on her face while harrison is looking at her and frowning.
at one point in.... season 3 i think? they’re shooting each other with water guns while smiling
overall i think it’s a really good ship with a lot of chemistry and could 100% work. its a cuteness overload and we need more of it and they are soulmates so
KEEP YOUR HOPES HIGH FOR MORE NERRISON IN SEASON 4

McKenzie
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Birthday: April 1st
Camp signed up for: Music Camp
Without a doubt, McKenzie is a troublemaker, but she’s not rude or hateful. She’s not so bad once you get to know her. However, she doesn’t trust a lot of people because of her past experience with friends, so it’s hard for her to open up deeply. She has much more life knowledge and is more mature than any other 12-year-old, and that’s because of how her mother tells her more things than she needs to know at her age, such as how she’s going to manage financially and problems of her own personal stuff. Because of this, it’s even harder for her to open up to anyone at all. McKenzie can be manipulative when she wants to be, which is usually for her own benefits. She’s also very sneaky, which is how she gets away with a lot of things. However, that doesn’t mean she never gets caught in the act. When someone is in need of help, depending on what the person wants or needs, McKenzie will help out, but she never lets anyone go by without paying her in return (or returning the favor). She believes it’s only fair that she gets something after going through so much trouble. She can also be very sassy when need be. Because of her introversion and her somewhat pessimistic view on life, McKenzie finds her escapism in music. She plays her guitar, and occasionally sings (only when no one’s around) when she feels overwhelmed, needs to escape from reality, or just to catch a tune.
Personality traits: Confident (when causing mischief), Realism, Introverted, Aware, Cynical, Sneaky, Quiet (to a degree), Indifferent (to a lot of things, not everything)
Relationships:
- Max: To McKenzie, Max is like the little brother she never had. They’ve gotten into many sorts of trouble, even without Nikki and Neil. Between the two though, Max is usually “the leader” of the group while McKenzie is “the assistant.” However, if there is any opportunity to blackmail him, she almost never passes it up. Other times, she either helps him out, or warn him about what he’s doing, telling him to quit while he’s ahead. While they both share more life knowledge than the other campers, they also share the same views on life. The difference however, is that McKenzie isn’t very aggressive at all about it. These two are closer with each other than all the other campers, even Nikki and Neil.
- Nikki: These two hardly ever interact one on one, but that doesn’t mean they’re not friends. They usually hang out with Max and Neil together, sometimes just Neil. She can get embarrassed over some of the things she does or says, depending on what it is. Nonetheless, McKenzie does care about her and her wellbeing.
- Neil: Similar with Nikki, McKenzie and Neil hardly ever interact one on one, but they do converse from time to time. They both showed great disdain towards the camp upon first sight, but McKenzie was the first to adjust between the two, simply because McKenzie doesn’t hate nature as much as Neil does. Any time McKenzie doesn’t side with Max on his mischiefs (which isn’t very often), she and Neil both call him out, and basically tell him to quit while he’s ahead. While they’re both introverts who depend on their interests to escape from reality, they also care about their friends, and cherish the friendship they have.
***
Here she is everyone! My Camp Camp OC! I hope you all love her as much as I do! And I am open to questions if anyone has any, as long as there’s no hate. You’re all more than welcome to state your opinions too, again, as long as it’s not hate. I will be drawing her pretty often (depending on my mood of course lol), and I already have some made I’ll be sharing eventually. Now there are some things I still need to work on, like her relationships with the counselors and such. Anyways, this is McKenzie!

Camp Campus AU: Part 2
Finally! It’s here, after like a week! This took longer than I thought it would, these characters are really hard to draw but I think I’m pretty satisfied with what I have right now. Since I finished this, that also means I dedicate more time to asks, specifically those that requests drawings! That also means I can focus on drawing comics and stuff revolving around their relationships, which I’m excited. I’m really excited to continue with this project and see it grow, and I’m so glad you’re all here to see it with me! You have no idea how grateful I am for all of the love that you’ve all sent so far! Thank you so much. Anyway, without further ado, here we go!
Tumblr media
Maxwell/Max : Like many of his peers, Max hasn’t changed much since his time at Camp Campbell. Max is still as vulgar as ever and maintains his pessimistic outlook on life. However, many people think its all just an act now to keep up his reputation. Since Camp Campbell, Max’s life has honestly taken a turn for the better. He has a healthier home life, loyal companions, and Mr. Honeynuts. He is generally happier than he was 7 years prior. The only inner conflict Max truly struggles with now are his budding feelings for his best friend and whether or not he wants to jeopardize their friendship. Also Max is often teased for his “baby” hands, they’re really really small.
Tumblr media
Cornelius/Neil : Intelligent, cocky, and overly sarcastic, Neil plays the role of the parent when it comes to handling Nikki and Max. Unlike his friends, Neil was the only one who matured both physically and mentally and feels as if its his job to make sure Nikki and Max don’t wind up killing someone else or themselves. As mentioned before, Neil and Nikki remained close even after each summer brought an end to their Camp Campbell experience. The reason being his dad and Nikki’s mom eloping and combining the families. While Nikki is eager to invite Neil into her life as the older brother she never had, Neil harbors a sort of resentment towards his dad as a result of his parents’ divorce. Although he is glad to spend time with Nikki as well, Neil is still consciously struggling with his parents’ divorce and can’t help but to think that Candy is a homewrecker, even though he had admitted before that his parents’ relationship was awful. Outside of his home life, Neil can be a bit stuck-up and act like a know-it-all at times. He still harbors a deep loathing for Harrison, now mostly because Harrison claims to be a flat-earther. He’s also still incredibly annoyed by Space Kid, although he has no reason to be. Neil also runs a tutoring business at school in order to make a profit, but unfortunately for him (Or maybe fortunately) Tabii’s his only reoccurring customer. Neil is also Erin’s vice president in the Student Council and they seem to make a great team. He also has custom-made glasses because his nose is so fucking big.
Tumblr media
Preston Goodplay : Preston is the stereotypical school thespian. Like at Camp Campbell, he’s outrageous and posses a larger than life attitude. He’s both over-dramatic and overemotional, but refuses to take any form of criticism. Preston is often cast as a main role in any school production and even takes it upon himself to critique his underclassmen in the drama department. Despite coming off as a total wacko, Preston is very talented and each performance that he gives is full of energy. Preston is very particular about his passion and is quick to anger if things don’t go his way. Preston acknowledges his relationship with his of his Camp Campbell peers, but doesn’t really willingly share his interest with any of them because of his fear that they might fuck it all up. However, he and Nikki do bond over some musicals that they both enjoy, although Nikki is usually more interested in the violent parts than the actual plot.
Tumblr media
Rudolph “Dolph” Houston : Dolph is the youngest of the cast and the only underclassmen in their friend group. Dolph continues to remain in high spirits and prefers to think positively than reflect upon the negative when faced with difficult situations. After High school, Dolph plans on attending a local Art College in order to truly embrace his career as a professional artist. Growing older, Dolph, like any other boy, went through puberty and grew facial hair. However, he ended up accidentally shaving it in an incident at Camp Campbell one summer and it never grew up correctly after that. Although an innocent mistake, the uncanny resemblance to Hitler disgusts Neil and causes him to keep his distance. Ironically being the youngest of the group, Dolph is a good friend with sole senior Ered. Dolph, like Nikki, has a great admiration for Ered and respects for activism. Using his artistic talent, Dolph often agrees to make protest signs for Ered or even help her vandalize the town to get a message across. Overall, Dolph is the same sweet boy he was years ago.
Tumblr media
Neil Armstrong Jr./Space Kid : Space Kid is just as optimistic and upbeat as he was before. However, he’s also gotten a lot smarter. Inspired by his great grandfather, Neil Armstrong, Space Kid decided to take up an internship at NASA and since then has put a lot of focus on his grades. Much to Neil’s annoyance, Space Kid’s GPA is practically the same as his, which is impressive. Although, the constant work has taken a toll on him and has made him absolutely exhausted. His exhaustion explains why he comes to school dressed comfortably in pajama pants (NASA merch of course TM) everyday. But regardless of overworking himself, Space Kid still tries his best to put on a happy face for his colleagues, even if they don’t appreciate it.
Tumblr media
Harrison : Exerting the same confidence and pride as before while still upholding his magical title, Harrison is the school’s sole illusionist. Although now his tricks aren’t seen as that impressive anymore among his peers, Harrison often attends parties and other small events and shows off his miraculous talent. He hopes that one day he’ll be discovered and whisked away to a life of fame and fortune. Harrison is kind to practically everyone he meets, but his rivalries with Neil and Nerris remain very alive. As a way to annoy Neil, Harrison often lies and says that he’s a Flat-Earther with no intention of listening to Neil’s explanation as to why the Earth is round. Harrison also rivals Nerris not only in magical skills, but also in opinions. As a die hard Harry Potter fan, Nerris had solely read the books and reluctantly turned to the films but found them to be distasteful. However, Harrison had never read the books and enjoyed the effects that the movies had, claiming that they’re superior. And by saying this, the two renew their fierce opposition to each other, but no one can stay mad at each other forever. Having a mostly positive attitude, many might not believe that Harrison actually has a secret, one that lies beneath his iconic white gloves. But it’s too soon to know for sure what it is yet.
Tumblr media
Gaylord “Nurf” Nurfington : Nurf ended up growing into a model citizen. After many anger management classes and corrective punishment, Nurf has finally turned his life around in the right direction. He and his mom currently live together and support each other, trying to rewrite their bad decisions from the past. Nurf often participates in volunteer work as well as lead a therapy group. He has also experiemnted more with his own identity and is comfortable admitting that he is in fact Bisexual. Nurf is also Quarterback for the school’s team and is known as one of their best players, alongside Nikki. Even though he is on his way to becoming an ideal person, Nurf still displays some aggressive tendencies and is very overprotective of his friends from Camp Campbell.
Tumblr media
The Wood Scouts (Billy “Snake” Nikssilp/Edward Pikeman/Jermy Fartz/Stephen van Petrol) : The Wood Scouts don’t play a particularly large role in this AU, but they still exist in this universe. Edward’s leader status has deteriorated in the group and has become co-dependent on Jermy and his newfound popularity. Jermy had gotten a major glow-up over the last Summer and is now considered to be the hottest guy attending the school. Because of his popularity, Edward now clings to Jermy in a one-sided friendship and uses his popularity as a way to elevate his own confidence (he wants clouts lmao).Snake and Petrol have both noticed this behavior from Edward and are disgusted by his attachment to Jermy. Edward often neglects his friendship with the two and refuses to associate with them. Snake still has a small crush on Tabii, but understands that she is completely invested in Neil and wants what’s best for her. Petrol plans to enroll in the military after graduation. He also struggles to find shirts that fit him.
Tumblr media
David & Gwen : Here they are! In all of their glory! Unfortunately this time around, David and Gwen don’t play as large of a role in the campers’ lives, but are still actively present in this AU. Summers back, David had fully encouraged Gwen to leave Camp Campbell in search for other job opportunities in the hopes of making her a happier person. With some persuading, she eventually left and the two had little contact with each other since. Since then, David has been running the camp by himself. Now David is the proud father of one. And that one is Max. David had officially adopted Max a few summers ago to help him out of his bad family situation and now lives his life as a proud suburban dad. David then started to rely on Max to help him co-counsel the Camp during the summer, because he though it’d be a great father/son bonding experience and the rest is history. When he’s not a happy-go-lucky camp counselor during the summer, David spends the rest of his time as a Dental Assistant because he loves nothing more than to see people smile. Gwen, however, didn’t find the happiness she thought she would after leaving Camp Campbell. Searching for jobs endlessly, Gwen eventually was hired as a high school guidance counselor but was fired months after because of a incident where she made a student cry hysterically. Gwen was then stripped of her title and sentenced to a secretary position. Although thankful she still has a job, Gwen is as miserable as ever and has to deal with the kids she once knew from Camp Campbell. Most of her time is spent with Max, purely because he’s given a detention every other day, and she couldn’t hate her life more. Hopefully one day Gwen will find the fortune she deserves.

Do Nikki and Max sometimes…hold hands and kiss?
Do they… hehe… hold hands? What a dirty question!
But yes, I belive they hold hands, but kissing is too much for them. Maybe in future, when Nikki stop looking around to see if someone can hear her talking about holding hands!
It doesn’t stop me to draw them kissing one day, though…

Sage, my camp camp OC.
she’s 15 years old, and her birthday is July 31.
she’s in language camp, she’s a polyglot! she knows spanish, english, french, and ASL.
she’s approx 5’0” and is toothpick thin.
she’s very shy, and quiet, but once you get her talking in spanish she can ramble for forever.
she loves the younger campers like dolph and space kid, and can often be found sitting quietly with them as they explain what they are doing to her.
Nerris calls her “big sis” even though there is no relation, mainly because Sage loves to speak Elvish with Nerris.
she shares a tent with Erid, and they are super close. they have a really similar music taste believe it or not, and Sage was raised by her two moms, so they’ve got a decent amount in common.
David and Gwen really appreciate her help when it comes to corralling the campers, since she generally stays out of trouble (unless she’s with Erid, then she can be a bit devious) and you can often find her with Nikki clinging to her back as she tries to figure out whatever it is Max did to quartermaster today.
I really hope you like my OC! more info on her soon to come, and please feel free to draw her!!!

Prompt: Spring / Autumn / Winter Pairing(s): Gwen/David Word Count: 2,440 Summary: Day Four for @gwenvidweek in which they get married the same way they do everything which is to say, untraditionally and without an ounce of grandeur.
David is not ashamed to say that their entire relationship is untraditional to its core.
He’s not clear whether that’s a product of both of them being very much not straight or if it’s just the way their personalities meld but the truth is, David’s happiest with Gwen as they are and he wouldn’t trade it for all the cliche Hollywood romances in the world.
Max had joked, back in the beginning when he’d discovered the shift in their relationship and been around enough to witness how they worked together, that Gwen was his boyfriend. Needless to say, David had taken it as an opportunity to discuss the effects of toxic gender roles which had left Max grumpy but overall noticeably more comfortable in the apartment.
The way he and Gwen operate works for them. For the family they’re making out of an equally untraditional little boy. In all things, they’re equal and so it really comes to no surprise to him or Gwen that neither of them actually proposes.
For as much as Gwen fantasizes about over the top romance, their path to marriage is a simple one. They discuss it. Plans for the future until one day becomes one day soon and casually tossed out suggestions become cemented decisions.
Then suddenly, they have a date and that’s that.
David’s out of school now and it’s letting them live more comfortably but the reality is that they don’t have fantasy dream wedding money. That’s fine. They’ve always been crafty.
There’s no question of where. It’s obvious. The only place truly befitting of their special day is Camp Campbell. And well, it doesn’t hurt that they now technically own the camp. Saves a whole lot of money for other things like feeding the growing number of people in their lives worth sharing this with.
Gwen is immediately insistent that she doesn’t want a wedding dress. Thousands of dollars on some massive, easily stained dress she’ll never have a reason to wear again extends beyond luxury and into stupidity. According to Gwen herself, of course.
David thinks she’ll look beautiful in anything.
Instead, she finds a cocktail dress with a skirt that spills layers of a translucent fabric. It’s a horrible khaki color that reminds David of the jumpers girls in his elementary school were forced into wearing but they’re nothing if not a family of problem solvers.
Gwen spends an afternoon teaching Max how to mix fabric dye in a plastic rope tub they bought to hold drinks for the Summer Social out on the balcony. They take turns prodding at the fabric with a yardstick miraculously fished from the kitchen island until the dress is a beautiful dark forest green.
Involving Max in the process has been important to both of them since the beginning. The wedding is a celebration of their relationship but it’s a celebration of their family too and that extends to Max’s presence in it.
Which is why when Max snidely congratulates Gwen on her now being the owner of a random green dress, Gwen shoves him into the couch and then agrees that it’s missing something that makes it special.
David digs around the sterilite tower he keeps their arts and craft supplies in until he comes across some gold thread Gwen had bought this past summer when Preston decided the costumes for his play were not sufficiently gaudy. He hand sews little golden pine trees around the hem of the skirt in what Gwen claims is overkill but she smiles soft and pretty as she traces the shapes afterwards.
There will never come a day that Gwen’s smile doesn’t fill him with butterflies.
Neither Max nor David own a proper suit. It’s never been a need and clearly the very idea of it offends Max to his core because the thought of having to spend an afternoon in one sends Max into a full-blown meltdown.
“Calm the fuck down. We don’t have the money for suits,” Gwen huffs, placing corn in front of their ridiculous child to husk as this delightful exchange took place in the middle of making dinner. “And you’d look stupid in one anyways.”
She’s teasing and so he doesn’t call her out on it. They’re both aware how cute Max would be in a full suit. But it’s true that they don’t have the money and regardless, it’s entirely not their style.
The comfort of everyone involved is far more important than what tradition dictates.
Gwen finds them nice button ups in an almost exact match to her dress while hiding from her mother’s insane quest to find her shoes that match her dress but don’t make her taller than David. Like either of them have ever cared about that.
David’s got some cheap, generic black ties from back when he was interviewing with schools. He cuts and hems one down so Max won’t look like he’s playing dress up in his dad’s business attire and then, for the heck of it, he sews matching golden pines into the ties.
Max makes a face when he’s shown their matching accessory but accepts the tie without a snide comment which he takes as the ultimate admission of love.
The day before the big day, Gwen’s mom comes by to steal Max and neither one will tell them what they’re up to. Gwen’s mom just winks when he asks and leads Max away with a hand on the shoulder that the boy seems unbothered by.
David watches them go with unease, sighing when Gwen presses a kiss to his shoulder and smacks him on the hip.
“It’s fine,” she says, moving to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee for this too early weekend morning. “Max is fine with Mom. And she seems to not even realize that he’s the devil so.”
David knows this but it’s not often that Max is away for the day outside of school when David is gone too. Now that he’s not working odd hours, it just doesn’t feel right to not have Max somewhere underfoot in the apartment.
“Mom probably thinks we’re going to have sex,” Gwen mentions offhandedly later in the afternoon when David’s managed to get nothing done but worry.
“Why would she think that?” he asks, blinking when Gwen responds with a small laugh and a cocked eyebrow. “Oh.”
“So dumb. Don’t know why I’m marrying you,” she says full of fondness and pushes him back onto the bed.
Gwen’s mom brings their kid back not a second past five and Max still won’t say what they did, burying his face into David’s leg when David pulls him in for a hug. Gwen asks if they at least had fun and Max shrugs off the question, running off to the bathroom to wash up for dinner.
Max is quiet through dinner and doesn’t complain when David enforces a bedtime even though it’s the weekend.
The next morning, they wake up early and David muses that it doesn’t feel any different than any other day which is to say, he feels lucky and loved.
It takes longer than they plan to get Max out of bed despite how early they all turned in the night before. He seems more withdrawn than usual and David worries that Max has convinced himself of something completely untrue.
The concept isn’t foreign for their family.
Moreover, he’s still half asleep when he comes stumbling out of his room, Mr. Honeynuts tucked under his arm. A less than promising sign. Mr. Honeynuts only leaves Max’s room for camp and when he’s upset about something.
David draws him a bath, worrying his lip with his teeth as Max does not voice his usual pre-bath complaints that he’s not a baby. Crumbling one of Gwen’s less flowery bath bombs into the water, he leaves Max to sleepily soak until breakfast.
“You’re worrying too much,” Gwen tells him, plating up the pancakes she’d been making while David was handling Max. “Max doesn’t handle change well. You know that.”
“But this is a good change,” David argues, looking back at the bathroom door. He loves Gwen. He’s excited that they’re going to be married and he’ll be able to tell people about his wife but…
“Him coming here was a good change too and that still sucked ass for two months. He’s gonna be twelve, David. All major changes are scary, even for Lord Satan himself,” she dismisses.
Max appears a minute later, wrapped tight in a towel and dripping water onto the floor.
“Morning, bud. You with us finally?” David asks.
“David, you asshole. I smell like cinnamon and pine cones,” Max grumbles.
“Then you’ll fit right in at the wedding.” Gwen says, lightly pushing him towards his bedroom. “Go get dressed and you can have this fucked up pancake that’s suppose to look like a bear.” Max scowls and stares up at her with purpose.
“David does it so much better,” he whispers spitefully.
“I’m gonna tell him you think so,” he hears her whisper back, laughing when Max makes a mad dash to escape to his room.
It’s a long drive to Camp Campbell and they’re not even close to the first people there despite living closer than anyone else. Max wastes no time popping out of the car and running to join Nikki and Neil where they’re climbing a tree outside the counselor cabin.
“You look beautiful, honey,” Gwen’s father compliments, helping her out of the car. David beams.
She really, really does. He hadn’t seen the dress on Gwen, their own version of not seeing the bride until the wedding or, well, wedding day at least. She looks maybe not so much like a bride but definitely something out of David’s dreams.
Gwen’s mother tuts at her choice of shoes. Both of them had chosen to go the way of cleaning up their boots for camp, for money and for ease of walking around camp. It was, they decided, much easier to find Max a nice pair of boots than to look for suitable dress shoes for the three of them.
David thinks they both actually look quite nice, their button ups contrasting against new dark denim disappearing into sturdy boots. Maybe not the fanciest but they certainly look like they belong among the dirt paths and towering woods.
Gwen shoots David an easily read look as her mom repositions herself for the hundredth time, heels sinking into the dirt.
Max comes back with Nikki and Neil trailing behind him. He tugs on the sleeve of Gwen’s mom’s blouse and she smiles, patting Max on the head like he swears he hates but he doesn’t voice that fact now.
“Okay,” she agrees though to what, David doesn’t know because no one has said a word. “Max wants to show you what we did yesterday.”
She leads them over to the tents set up for food later in the evening and a table in the middle which sits the prettiest cake David has ever seen. The bottom tier is a vibrant sky blue with a lush icing pine forest circling the bottom. The tiers gradate up into pinks, and oranges, and finally a dark blue with glimmering speckled stars.
David feels emotion well up in his chest, more so when Gwen tugs Max back against her and he allows it, wrapping a hand around one of her arms.
“Max came up with the design,” Gwen’s mom explains. “I never would have considered something like this for a wedding cake but, well, he insisted this is what you’d want.”
“It’s perfect,” David agrees, voice wavering with emotion.
“Gross,” Max grumbles, averting his eyes. “It’s just a cake, David.” The adults all laugh, much to his obvious displeasure and Gwen releases him to make his escape as the rest of their return campers all arrive at the same time.
The ceremony arrives before they know it and it’s perfect in the way that it’s not.
David had ideally wanted a summer wedding but Gwen had vetoed the idea immediately. They were, she pointed out, obviously going to be working and the last thing she wanted was to be married one day and cleaning paint off the Mess Hall walls the next while Nurf tried to glue Space Kid to the ceiling by his helmet.
Now, he’s thrilled they waited. Beyond the reality that planning a wedding during camp just wasn’t feasible, their backdrop is a plethora of beautiful trees in shades of red and orange and golden brown scattered between the pines.
Leaves fall as they say their vows and David sputters when one manages to fall into his mouth. Their guests all burst into laughter, draining him of his nerves. This, like everything else, is a moment uniquely them shared with their closest friends and family.
Max is practically clinging to him instead of standing in his spot right next to David and he rests a reassuring hand on the boys back as he and Gwen are instructed to kiss. He hears Max make a soft noise of disgust and laughs, tugging the boy between them while he makes a show of fighting and clawing his way out of the hug.
“Mom offered to take Max while we’re on our honeymoon,” Gwen mentions when everyone disperses to eat. David offers her a confused glance.
“We’re taking him with us?” he reminds her. They’d planned that from the very beginning. Family vacations were still a little out of their reach. It seemed infinitely unfair for the first one to be without Max, honeymoon or not.
“I know. I told her as much. Wouldn’t be much of a vacation without our little monster. She told me that wasn’t the point of a honeymoon. But it’s the point of our honeymoon, right?” she continues, soothing his worry that Gwen had had a change of heart about the whole thing.
He’s not sure what he would do if he was made to choose between Gwen and Max. Not sure why the rest of the world seems hellbent on making him do so when they were all happy in the compromise that made up their makeshift family.
“I sure do love you, Gwen,” he tells her like it’s brand new information. It feels that way sometimes. Like every day, he discovers love for her like it’s the first time. Bright and overwhelming and good.
She shoots him an amused smile, linking their fingers together.
“Yeah, you’re pretty alright yourself, David,” she teases and she doesn’t echo the words back but David still hears them loud and clear.
That’s their tradition.

more stuff for my au that still has no name but my brain is spewing ideas at me
the class david teaches is pretty chill and david just lets them call him “mr david” because it’s easier for the kids
he’s a pretty calm teacher most of the time and really likes going all out for activities and stuff
he also has many class trips out to the woods so the kids can explore nature and when theyre learning science stuff they can see bugs and animals up close
he also lets them build dens in the woods and each friendship group have their own little den
to calm them down towards the end of the day they go sit outside to read or chill and the kiddos love it
cameron campbell is the deputy head / vice principal and no one really knows what he does so they make up dramatic stories about him (that all turn out to be true yikes)
david knows all of the kids on a semi-personal level and every friday he lets one of the kids show off their activity / skill of their choice to get the group to bond more
he had to place a lot of restrictions in because max came to school with a hand grenade (it was fake) and nurf once brought his collection of knives in (nikki also tried to get the class to survive in the wild for a week but david refused to let her do that)
gwen’s coffee shop is owned by daniel and jen, who are in some shady things gwen doesnt want to know about
(they pay well so it doesnt matter)
the coffee shop has some weird hipster vibe about it thats kind of outdated but i guess thats what makes it hipster??
david owns a dog
im thinking an australian shepherd??
he lives in a small-ish house near the forest and has a cute garden he tends to when he’s not working
gwen on the other hand lives in an apartment and keeps a lot of fake indoor plant because she kills everything she touches
david gets a coffee at 8am and then 4pm, and sometimes when the shop is open later he’ll buy another one
“i just like getting out of the house and walking here. yeah it’s easier to make coffee at home but you dont get the fresh air in your lungs there” - david
“god youre a fucking weirdo. the usual though, right?” - gwen
i might add in the flowerscout trio / woodscout trio into the class too? just for funsies yknow??
anyway im gonna write up a godawful fanfic and draw fanart because i want tired as fuck barista gwen serving a way too happy in the morning david oof
