This morning I went to the grocery store for two things: Puffs (because they have a better designed box than Kleenix) and V8 juice. I had some sniffles and I love V8 juice. I’d also wander the aisles in case I saw something else I needed or wanted.

Everybody was road-ragey. Cart-ragey?

A woman stood between her cart and items she spent way too much time examining. She didn’t give a fuck that no one could get past her. The look on her face was like, “There are two ends of this aisle, go out the other way, dumbass.” A man got impatient and started gently nudging away her cart with his. Her purse was in the baby seat, so she got a little defensive.

An agitated young man pushed his cart while texting, expecting everyone to clear out of his way. It amused me when his cart came nose to nose with my card. I didn’t move and made eye contact with him. When he looked up he glared, waiting for me to fold. I wanted for him. Two Zax. He was in a hurry, I was not. He huffed and puffed, then finally moved around me. If he’d been King, I would have been beheaded before he checked out.

An employee I see all the time was bitchy at some shoppers who got in the way of her shelf stocking.

And so on. People were ornery. Which made me a tiny bit ornery. In turn, I forgot to consult my shopping list. I came home with tortilla chips, bananas, one hard roll, but no Puffs or V8. Now I’m a little more ornery.

You will need to have Tampermonkey installed on your browser of choice, and once that's done, just go to the github link above, and peruse the readme to install. And voila! You have your old dash back!

The authors of XKit Rewritten said during the experiments that at the time, since this was an "experiment" they weren't going to implement anything to revert to the old UI (although who knows if they'll do it now). And the dashboard unfucker has worked beautifully enough for me to where I genuinely couldn't tell if they had ended the experiment or not.

I really feel tremendous grief for friendships that kind of petered away in the face of life's currents. There are people with whom I formed deep, unique, vibrant, life-changing connections, and then we had to go our separate ways and it was too hard to maintain long-distance. There wasn't a fight, it just sort of faded. And I feel like I have more friendships like this than friendships that have endured, so maybe I just have to get used to it. But if grief is all the love we have left over - well, I never did get to finish loving them. I love them, and I miss them, and I probably always will.
