So, this first part is going to be my own personal opinion based off of who I am as a person, and my views may not be shared within the fandom. Now, keeping in mind that this is my interpretation on a character who literally doesn't exist (which is so sad wtf), my version of 'dom!remus' looks more like a very assured, confident guy in bed; he knows what he's doing, he's good at it, and he knows how to get everyone where they're trying to go (i.e., orgasm city, obviously). He takes care of everyone in bed, and (in the case of poly!marauders or poly!wolfstar) he certainly redirects anyone's naughty (bratty) behaviour (read: sirius), but I think he'd also be super communicative and understanding that it's a dance, not a battle which adds to his assuredness and confidence in bed because people feel safe with him - they know that he knows what he's doing and can let go because they trust him with their safety and their pleasure - and he's in bed with his partner's, not his adversaries.

I think you're right...some things definitely change around the full moon. You've probably been asked this before, but do you prefer the sub or dub of Pokémon? If you can't choose, what would you say some of the strengths of each version are instead?

I’d say I’ll usually watch the sub if I have the choice. But I do enjoy the dub too!

I’d say since Japanese isn’t my first language, I’m less picky about performances and line delivery. But I mean, they’ve got a legendary cast and you can feel it. I’m a massive Megumi Hayashibara fan and her performance as Musashi is 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 I’m also currently studying Japanese so I get a lot out of watching it! A huuuge part of why I like the sub tho is the music. Licensing is weird so the dub has their own soundtrack they use for some reason?? And it honestly doesn’t hit the same

However, like I said I DO enjoy the dub. Especially the older series! Not necessarily because of the cast or the performances (i love the old VAs as well as the new ones) but I did like the scriptwriting better. The newer seasons’ writing feels a little more stiff? I’m sure there’s a lot of factors that go into that but some of the jokes in OS they got away with still get me.

Dungeon Meshi Anime Review, Season 2, Episode 14 review

This is technically the second cour of Dungeon Meshi, with a new opening and ending so we've made it to season 2, baby!

Happy Kabru day! I think Trigger did a great job with this so I don't have a lot to talk about.

Spoilers below!

The new OP is really nicely animated and very sweet, but I don't really like it. I think the song isn't as good as the first OP and the visuals just don't really excite or interest me the way the first OP did. It's cute though! I think it would have made a great ending...

The ending is wonderful like before, with more beautiful illustrations. Are these also by Kui? Will we get Kui illustrations for every ending? That would be so fantastic! I like this song better than the new OP song...

What the hell are Fleki and Lycion laughing at in the ending. Just pointing and laughing at a water fountain...

There my darling lad Kabru goes, killing again! Good for him.

Animated very nicely, conveys just how fast and lethal Kabru is against human opponents. I hope that anime onlies are now worrying about Laios and his party! That's what they should be worrying about!

Love that they managed to capture Kui's insanely wonderful fight choreography, Kabru switching targets last second after doing a fake-out, and then stealing one person's sword to use it to kill two other people... He's so slick, and Trigger captured it so well.

Sadly no improvements (extra clarity) was added to any of the talking scenes in this ep that start to explain Kabru and his party's motivations. I didn't expect them to change anything though, so it's still as good as it was in the manga, which is still pretty damn good... But would have been nice to have someone tighten up the dialog and make it flow more like human conversation.

Characters sitting around and talking about stuff that isn't monster biology or cooking is probably Kui's greatest weak points as an author, and I don't blame her at all, but it's the one blind spot she could use a liiiiiiittle extra help with. At least in the first half of the manga. Towards the end she gets way better at it. Practice does that to you!

EDIT: Trigger made Holm eat meat!!! He's a religious vegetarian!!!! Oops.

SO.... english dub issues.

The cast is still generally great and the dub script is generally superior to the Japanese subtitles, though it seems like the Japanese subs might be getting better? Or this episode was unusually bad in English so the Japanese subs seemed better.

Kabru's voice in English...

The thing about Kabru's character is that he changes how he talks and acts depending on who he's talking to. The Japanese version does this relatively well.

It's mostly about the pitch of Kabru's voice and how sweet his tone is. He's trying to make himself sound non-threatening, polite, and friendly. And then when he's not doing that, he sounds more stern and mature, talking in a deeper pitch without being so self-effacing.

The English version... is struggling a bit with this.

In the other episodes it sounded alright, but in this episode Kabru's voice actor, for whatever reason, seemed to be mumbling/slurring his words, not enunciating, and cutting off and shortening his words, shoulda, woulda, kinda, and talking in a more "relaxed" and informal manner

This isn't inherently a problem, but since nobody else in the anime so far talks like this, what does this style of speaking signify? Why is Kabru talking like this for this entire episode?

Is it because Kabru's from the West? Do all the people in the West talk that way? Will the elves talk like that?

Since they didn't match Zon and Leed's way of speaking to each other I doubt they'll follow through with this...

If it's meant to make Kabru sound "tough", why does Kabru do it the entire episode and not just with the corpse retrievers? Why does he keep talking that way while talking to his friends?

Even if sounding "tough" is what he's trying to accomplish, Kabru wasn't really being tough in those scenes, he was being tricky and conniving... And then with his friends he was being curious and solving a mystery.

It's not the worst performance I've ever heard, but it's a change/addition with no basis in the original version, so as with Leed and Zon, I'm left wondering "why are you doing this? What are you trying to tell us about the characters?"

I'll have to go back and listen to Kabru's earlier appearances to see if he sounds the same in those, but I really don't remember him talking this way before...

ning, obviously. she doesnt yell "SUBMIT!" at every burst for nothing. ning is a nerd, but shes not humanities nerd, she's a spreadsheet nerd. she designed her own version of chess. she's not gonna do 10 pages backstory for roleplay, she's gonna do like. mechanics challenges instead. shes gonna have custom made weirdly specific toys and gear and make u do obstacles test and chuckle at ur struggles. very big on making subs "earn" smth. u have to deserve her strap. otherwise will make her three girlies fuck u and sit there, watching and smoking her pipe. will leave in the middle if not entertained. sometimes gets in the mood to bottom, like with the shit they pulled that one lantern rite with her saying go tell beidou her reward is waiting ;) she's still in charge tho.

yelan, obviously. bondage, obviously. we all saw the trailer. yelan is for ppl who want to feel controlled 24\7. she knows ur whole browser history. she knows if u touched yourself. she will appear in a locked room and punish u for being bad. will walk her subs on a leash in public and humiliate passersby's who dare to object.

neuvi is overcareful and awkward outside of the scene, but during the scene he has the same naturally commanding presence as at the trials. most of the kink doesn't actually do anything for him, bc he doesn't get human taboos. like he has a line about how its normal for vishaps to drink each others blood, his standards for whats provocative\forbidden is waaay different. so he's both very open minded in some sense and harder to communicate with in others. he can sense human emotions, so he's mostly into this for feeling pleasure of a partner. also i hope u love inherent eroticism of the sea

lisa mostly does the soft mommy thing, but she also has very pronounced sadistic streak and is into punishment, esp electroshock. source: her quest, lightning torture ppl emperor palpatine style for being late with books. ok lisa calm down, keep it in the bedroom

yae miko is in local bdsm clubs harassing most inexperienced dogboys into forcefemming bc raiden left her on read for 10 days in a row

the yard x wine about it - it's just the four of them and qt which means good times! this is an essential imo

there are a few eps of fear& that they appear on! specifically rec the ep with nick and aiden and the ep with ludwig and aiden. there are also a few eps with ludwig and slime (not at the same time) if you're interested in those

i've watched aiden on three different interview podcasts all are worth a watch to me: karat interview, across the bar, and good griefed (audio a little scuffed on this one but it's cute)

fucking loved nick's ep of across the bar because his outlook on creativity is super relatable to me. he also did something with safety third that i've been meaning to watch but haven't yet!

VIDEOS AND STREAMS - there's a lot here but i'll try to describe what's what

mogul money ft the yard - this is the full vod, there's also a cut down video. extremely fun watch

two months ago they all played fortnite on lud's stream and it was awesome

both the show matches of the ludwig tarik invitationals are worth watching if you're into valo! the first one is team mogul v otv and they're split up in the second. if the timestamps are broken it's 2h30 in both vods

the rivals 2 tournament is fun! i don't understand shit about fighting games but i love to see the boys play

cdawgva ski vod with lud and aiden from the japan trip! there's also a cut down version of youtube but i found it a fun watch

recency bias alert: they all played in creator dodgeball

the qt and aiden winter cocktail tierlist stream was so good like genuinely a stream of all time to me. ludwig hangs around for parts of it

the yard doing the dougdoug fast food challenge is a MUST WATCH! they celebrate and they suffer what could be more beautiful

otv's fear pong video with them is so fucking good. SO GOOD!

Sailor Moon Thoughts - i know i'm 10yrs late but Crystal's not that bad actually

so i recently got back into sailor moon

grew up on the english dub 90s anime (watch the jpn sub in 9th grade)

had only read the manga once in the past and that was in college; however i just recently bought the first 2 volumes of the collector's edition (just finished V2 actually!)

but this is my first time watching Crystal (mostly bc when it was first coming out there was so much backlash and hate and it made me turn away from it)

now that i've read volumes 1&2 and watched S1 i gotta say...when compared to the manga Crystal's honestly not that bad and i'd say overall pretty faithful

Spoilers for Sailor Moon Crystal!

Usagi and Mamoru

first thing's first! mamoru's age is fixed! fucking yay!

in both the manga and crystal he's a 16yr old 2nd year high school kid! not a 1st year college student dating at 14yr old little girl! he and usagi compliment each other and it really shows in crystal imo

90s-SM fleshes out this couple individually more in the first season and i'm in love with that and they have some really sweet moments and i still ship it ofc i do BUT the age difference got so iffy and squeakable for me when watching again as a grown ass adult!

some of usagi's emotional intelligence is downplayed and she sometimes comes off as even younger than she is and that makes the ship feel uneven and i just keep thinking "there he goes off with his child bride 👋🏽" and it really doesn't help that they animated mamoru looking so much older and acting like a mature 20-something (even tho yes, he's closer to 18 but an 18yr old dating a 14yr old is still so squeakable to me)

the manga is where this ship thrives and it's more believable that they fall for each other especially bc they're on more equal footing but crystal adds in a scene in S1 that i personally love that's when sailor moon and tuxedo mask are fighting zoisite toward the middle of the season (before venus shows up)

i'm massively paraphraseing but in this scene usagi doesn't just tell but shows mamoru through her tears and pained expression that she understands he's deeply lonely and that it hurts her, she doesn't want that for him, she wants to do everything in her power to make sure he never feels that way again

and mamoru tells her that SHE is everything he wants and he doesn't need a magical stone to find out who he is and where he belongs not when she's standing beside him bc her strength and kindness are inspiring and he's not afraid or lonely when around her

"i won't let you be alone anymore" / "seeing your strength makes me so happy" couples are my downfall and this scene cracks me right open

and this is BEFORE they regain their memories i'm fucking dead!

English Dub

i vaguely remember ppl shitting on the English dub of Crystal and yes i watched it in Japanese first but the English dub is actually really great?! especially when compared to the 90's English dub!! i love Usagi's VA and i think all the voices match the characters pretty well

The Transformations and Character Designs

okay so those 3D transformations are bad

the animation is really jarring at first and yeah it's not good i don't like it but after a while you just sort of...idk get used to it and it's not a make-or-break thing imo now did the 90s anime do it better? fuck yeah! but by the end of the season i just felt meh about them and barely cared

The Big One

okay now the big one - the supposed past love between the 4 heavenly kings and the inner planet guardians that wasn't in the manga and definitely not in the 90s version where these guys are handled more interestingly

i think this subby-subplot that's not even really a subplot is stupid and doesn't amount to anything and doesn't actually make a ton of sense if earthlings and...and moonlings being together is forbidden the serenity had to SNEAK AWAY to see her earth prince and it does sort of take away some of the tragedy that is serenity and endymion's doomed love

like i was going "what was the point of that" when the kings all die and the sailor girls are weeping for 2secs before getting back to busniess and i get wanting to expand more on all 8 of these characters, but that's not how you do it - 90s-SM expanded on these characters better because plot points were stretched out and we got to know the characters more slowly over a longer period of time (plus 2 of the kings were lovers! that's cute as hell!!)

basically this whole thing was shoved into the story last minute with very minimal build up barely any conclusion and it's really uninteresting

0.3/5🌙 (only bc venus dropping a few hints every few episodes was done well enough-ish but it was still stupid in the end and shouldn't have been included the way it was)

Conclusion

even with that though crystal still isn't that bad - overall it's actually pretty good and i love experiencing the manga coming to animated live

the OST is beautiful! and even tho NOTHING tops the 90s theme song that crystal usamamo love theme is fucking gorgeous 😍 in fact all the music in crystal is top teir imo

i do miss the focus on the female friendship tho and kinda wish crystal took some of that 90s-SM female friendship focus BUT 90s-SM just had so much more time to work with and at the end of the day SM is a romance so i understand why the anime adapting the manga more closely focused on the romance more heavily (and that usamamo scene i talked about above is still so. damn. good!)

anyway if you're like me and didn't bother watching crystal bc the hate and backlash when it first came out i say give it a try

it's still cute and still sailor moon and so far it's getting a 4/5🌙

i'll probably do another one of these when i finish S2 (jon and eng) and the volumes it adapted

Time for my honestly time because I have many problems with kylar-

Kylar is a noncommittal poor representation of the yan archetype (and I think a part of that is he can't be a full "I'd do anything for you" yan because it might break the game) but still he has some major flaws that I can't get behind along with my personal bias twords characters that want to force me to be dominant.

Kylars story is actually pretty good and I really like this monster parents thing I think it adds a lot of flavour and makes kylars social behavouir and his quarks believeable in a weird way- of course he has weird shit going on all the time he lives in a mad house. But the underbelly of him actually wanting to care for his parents as if they are just very old or very sick instead of being afraid of them or abandoning them tells me a lot about kylar as a charactor. He's committed to a fault and that is compelling as hell

But kylars need to stalk the pc. Only half hearted attempts at saving the pc. The fight with whitney is pretty lack luster. (Again I think it's because you can't just have a charactor stab another without changing the games makeup.) All and all kylar is a pretty ineffective yandere.

And although you can make that a real charactor thing kylar is a threat pc is suposed to take seriously rather be annoyed by constantly and I think this is a major flaw.

Kylar isn't a threat. He's pathetic. And repetitive. His love is obvouis and over the top and the hysteria berley does anything. Kylar isn't hunting the pc down when theyre kidnapped by a third party or keeping the pc from getting other things done. He's just.... kinda around kinda not? And when he does kidnap the pc his actions are strange. It's a loop of feed-entertain-sex until he has to leave.

If he was amped up more- more committed to making your life hell. More violent. More hysteric. I think I might like kylar more. But for someone who is engrossed by the yandere archetype kylar is like a watered down version of a thing I usually enjoy. And so he falls a little flat for me.

That being said. He's also a sub. And I'm also like a major sub-bottom so it was never going to work out

I noticed on your post of trans girl movies (thank you btw!) that you'd created your own subtitles for Surrender Dorothy and how-- how did you do that? Did you use a certain software? How did you incorporate it into the film file?

I currently create captions but I'm restricted to the company's software so I've never actually added them on my own/to my own files, but I'd love to be able to create subs for myself and others. If you have time, I would hugely hugely appreciate some advice. If not, that's okay, have an awesome day. (I'm off to watch some movies now lol)

Yeah! It was my first time doing it!

I used Subtitle Edit. Which is free and open source. I didn't like it at first, but it actually kinda rocks (I say while having zero points of comparison). It has a semi built in video player and waveform viewer, so you can pretty easily sync things up.

And I didn't REALLY incorporate them into the video file (depending on how you mean it). I'm sure I could have (MKV files are capable of holding non hard coded subtitles), but I just left the subtitles as a separate file. As long as your SRT file has the same file name (other than the extension) as your video file then most video players (like VLC or MPC-HC) will load it up automatically.

Someone had already uploaded a (lower quality) copy of Surrender Dorothy to YouTube too, so I ripped the automatically machine generated subtitles from that to use as a starting point. I'm not sure how much time it saved though. Obviously it misinterpreted a lot of things, but even when the text and timing was technically right it would merge lines together or split them up weirdly. Tho I mean even my version of the subtitles are still jank in places. I might do another pass eventually to fix up a few things.

It was a cool project! I'd be into doing it again, but most movies already have professionally made subtitles (that can be easily found on google for pirating) and it's time consuming enough that it'd have to be for something that I really love and rewatch often.

do we think lulu is from the moon. i think this for three reasons. one: when she told superbia she was going to ride him the moon was quite large and prominent in the shot. symbolism. two: when she got her fancy hairdo, she had two little buns that looked like moons. three: “lulu” could come from “luna” the same way it could come from the first syllable of smith’s name. why would she become spanish? don’t worry abt it. also if she’s from there then maybe the “final battle” which obari allegedly said would take place in an unexpected location will indeed be on the moon (pls dont ask for a source on this bc i don’t think i could find it again but it was one of the like. i keep thinking abt the like. pacing of the previous fight scenes being reused in ep9 in such a smart way…………like with smith/lulu v superbia - isami/bravern v cupiridas AND with smith/lulu v knuth - isami/bravern v pessimism/vanitas they kept doing the quick jumps between each of the two fights in a way that made it clear that isami and smith were in conversation even if they were doing completely different shit, and then bringing that completely to the forefront this ep while isami is asking smith why he died and at the same time smith is refusing to die bc of his promise with isami. BLEW MY FUCKIN MIND to see the pattern reused like that, i swear to GOD everyone talks about how fun and hype this show is but it’s so damn GOOD too 😭😭 and then after that the fuckin. symmetrical docking ass cut and then later the gattai which has been held off for SO long bc they are no longer separate conversations. How do I get into THE IDOLM@STER?

...is a very frequent question we idolmaster fans get!

I recently got a message from someone asking me if I could make a post answering this question, and I said I would try. I'm very bad at explaining things, but idolmaster is my biggest special interest, and I am always really happy to try to get people into it.

Before we start, I want to remind you that Idolmaster has no localization. All translations are fanmade. Please remember to support translators. I'll leave as many resources as possible. If you have any translators or sites you'd like me to mention, please let me know.

If you're willing to try and get into it, please open the readmore. I wont only be including Cinderella Girls, I'll try to include every branch.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Cinderella Girls?

Alright, I know I said I wouldn't only be including CG, but this is still a deresute gif blog. I know what most of you are here for.

Cinderella Girls is a huge branch. There's 190 idols. I see some people backing out when they realize this, but I don't think that should discourage you! With that many idols, you're guaranteed to find someone for you. And please, just because you think the voiced girls are more worth your time, please check out the unvoiced ones as well.

Alright, but how do you get into it?

There's a lot of Youtube channels that translate different commus from it. From card lines, to memorial commus, to entire events. Simply search "deresute translation" if you'd like. HNKM_days on Twitter also translates most of the events as they come out.

CG's music is great! there's tons of uploads on soundcloud. My soundcloud playlist has about 200-ish songs. You can find a bunch by just searching "idolmaster".

To find more information on a song, search it up on project-imas.

Project-imas is *the* best idolmaster resource I can think of. It's entirely in English, it has every single song, CD, card — anything you can think of. I use it everyday of my life, which might sound sad but I assure you it isn't. Probably.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Million Live?

Sankyuu ML subs on YouTube does a great job at translating mirishita related content! Another personal note I wanna add is that million live has an amazing discography, and full versions of pretty much every song are on Spotify. Even tho the cast is way smaller than Cinderella Girls, there's still a lot to love about the branch. I dont play Mirishita as much as I do some of the other games, but I still consume lots of content from it and it's a lovely branch I definitely recommend you get into. As of writing this post, Mirishita is celebrating it's 6th anniversary! It's a good time to download the game. Remember, you will need a Japanese VPN or Japanese Apple ID to play it. This goes for every imas mobile game.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER SideM?

Well, this is where we're gonna have to start getting into the thorny dark side of being an idolmaster fan. SideM is a great branch which I absolutely adore, and all of it's producers are so passionate about it, however.. Bandai Namco has never been kind to it.

This year, it was announced that it's only current running game, THE IDOLM@STER SideM Growing Stars, will be ending it's service. This was extremely sudden, and hard for everyone to handle. This means that there will basically be no way to properly produce the idols. SideM won't fully die, with there being lives and such, but producing the idols is such a big part of this franchise. I don't want to make this post gloomy out of nowhere, I swear. It's just a bit touchy for now.

There's a huuuge translation masterdoc for SideM, if any of the units or characters catch your eye from the project-imas wiki page on SideM, I suggest you search for whatever idols intrigue you most in the doc. As well as the doc, you can search up "#sidemTL" on Twitter for more translations not on the doc. There's so much to love about every unit and idol, I swear it's worth your time! Even tho it's current state might steer you away, I think it's important to still appreciate the branch for what it is. Oh hey, SideM's discography is also on streaming services! Please stream Piece Montee and Secret Ornament.

How do I get into THE IDOLMASTER Shiny Colors?

Here's ones that's been gaining traction! Luckily, it's actually a pretty accessible branch to get into, if you're willing to download the English patch. The gameplay might seem complicated and scary at first, but even that has tons of guides. I think a lot of this post is motivated by my emotions on the franchise, and I'm sorry about that, but I really mean it when I say the writing is incredible.

You can play Shinymas on your web browser here. If you search up "Shiny colors English patch" on google, you can download it using the instructions. If you're still hesitant on playing for whatever reason, you can read episodes recorded in the English patch on YouTube. I'm not exaggerating when I say the writing is amazing.

How do I get into the original idolmaster games? (765AS + Dearly Stars)

If you specifically want to get into the console games, there's English roms and translations of routes on Youtube, as well. Dearly Stars is currently in a very weird state, tho. You see, the 765AS girls are all in Million Live, and there's a lot of consolemas games they appear in. But for Dearly Stars, there's only one game. Which is, well, Dearly Stars. And 2/3 of the Dearly Stars just.. havent gotten content since?

I think that it's still a game you should check out, tho! There's not a single bad song in it, and even tho 3 idols might seem like an underwhelming number, they're all brilliant and very lovable. As with a good chunk of consolemas games, there's Dearly Stars translations up on YouTube! A really dedicated RyoP posted them all and I am eternally grateful to them for it.

Alright, phew. I wrote half of this at 11 am and procrastinated for a few hours then wrote more at midnight. Sodo

So, out of all the ghouls Sodo gets the most worked up, doesn’t matter about what; he’s basically on a hair trigger.

Rain and Aether really get him going, especially aether. Sodo really loves the fact that aethers so competitive with him, loves that aether gets all touchy with him.

Aether triggers most of sodos post-show Arousal.

Now, Sodos a switch, definitely more sub leaning. He’s a bratty bottom when he decides he wants to bottom. He doesn’t like to be denied, and he doesn’t care for edging. There’s also a huge difference in denial and boundaries to him.

If you where to tell him to stop or used a safe word he’d immediately stop whatever it is he’s doing. Or if you told him you didn’t want to do something he’d never ask about it again.

But with denial it’s a whole other story, for example; you stop touching him when he’s right on the edge? He doesn’t like that, not at all.

He doesn’t even really need to be edged he can go a long long time and always makes sure his partner for the moment is satisfied.

And the funny thing is he doesn’t even get mad about the edging, he just gets whiny and flushed. And if you do it a second time he starts grinding into any friction he gets.

His tail is also super expressive, and often times feels like it has a mind of its own, what with its curling and twitching. It’ll curl around anything it can comfortably, and it twitches almost like a cats.

He really enjoys being restrained. It’s probably one of his biggest kinks.

And I did say he was a switch, I’m choosing to say that he’s a pretty chill top mostly, very respectful. He knows what every single one of his band mates likes and knows exactly what to do if they ever come to him to fool around,

He likes to bite, to leave marks. He loves to see the aftermath and loves to take care of the bite after.

All in all, 10/10 would recommend<3

Rain

Rain, my boy, he’s chill, he is a switch. He isn’t really top or bottom leaning, he’s kinda middle ground.

He’s a much softer top then aether per say but still rougher then like- Copia or mountain.

He’s very good at commands, like “come here” or “sit down” you feel the need to do it, even if he doesn’t have a super intimidating or booming voice; it’s just very alluring.

He’s VERY well endowed- like scarily so, it’s shocking.

When he bottoms he listens super well, he’s very maneuverable and complacent.

He also often comes out of papas room reeking of sex, he’s Copias stress relief; being papa’s hard sometimes.

Anyways. Rains really good at oral and loves giving it.

He’s got an oral fixation, loves having fingers shoved into his mouth. Also he drools

So like- my version of ghouls have long tongues with forked tips so yeah-

Anyways, as I was saying; rain drools, he’s super sensitive in places and if those places are stimulated just right his tongue just flops out of his mouth

He’s got really sensitive nipples (I might actually write something for that)

Like really sensitive nipples, you could spend like 15 minutes just toying with em’ and he’d come from that alone

**This is related to the post about dcla gatekeeping telenovelas** In my eyes this whole debacle is mostly about popularity and demand/availability. Even before Violetta/Soy Luna there were a shit ton of teen (non disney tho) telenovelas that were extremely popular on their lands but didn't really pick up outside except a few places + europe, which is a shame for so many reasons, especially because i've seen a fair share of stuff that i think you and a lot of other people of this community would enjoy if they liked violetta/soy luna/bia/go vive tu manera etc but it's not available if you don't understand even slightly one of the neo-latin languages or languages that are kind of indirectly affiliated (mostly because those dubs/subs are the ones that are easier to find). I was also tempted to try and start subbing them in English but it would take an insane amount of time (still thinking about it tho..)

And then Violetta was like an insane phenomenon at the time and I understand why they tried HARD to push it on the american audience even tho they never really cared that much (which is insane to me because Violetta was such a core memory from my childhood) and maybe with Soy Luna they saw how popular it was in general and compared it with how uninterested the english speaking countries were at the times of Violetta and just... gave up with the whole translating thing because it wasn't worth it since it was already doing insanely good?? i guess (but that's just a theory/an opinion)

p.s. (The only disney gatekeeping I can fully conferm tho [in my opinion] is Juacas because I swear to god I cannot find it to save my fucking life in either it's original language or dubbed in my native language (it was released and was also really popular apparently, but at the time i was kind of away from telenovelas) so yeah I still think that sometimes they truly do shit without thinking and just generally suck at preserving international stuff. (i'm shit at explaining myself sorry lol)

No you’re good! D+ also randomly gatekeeps their d+ la shows from the international audience (like S2 of Papás por encargo?? Why not release it everywhere???? We wanna watch it too!). Also I wish they released stuff like Patito Feo… I’ve heard of that show’s existence since I first saw Violetta and it was only released in a handful of countries. Also, Violetta was really marketed EVERYWHERE, and then SL came along and in my country, they dubbed the two first seasons and then never the third and I barely remember it airing on tv, while Violetta was marketed so much you could not miss it. They never aired Bia here at all, and it’s not out on D+ in my country (but when watching it with a vpn they had swedish subtitles available so??? why gatekeep it from us). ALSO, so many countries have their own version of ”as the bell rings” and not a SINGLE VERSION is available on D+, not even the italian version which is the original??

I also have some shows from my country (non-disney) that was popular here, but I wish was known everywhere because they are awesome.

The english dub of Violetta was not popular in the UK. It was popular everywhere else, for people who did not speak spanish but still loved the show, and thus when wanting to show clips from the show they used those clips. Now, I personally don’t like the english dub and they randomly don’t translate stuff correctly at times, but for many kids who did not understand spanish but did understand english, it was useful. Now, most countries had their own dubs too, but when posting about clips online for everyone to see, you rarely used your own language’s dub. You used the english dub, so that you could reach out to a larger audience.

I remember a few years back, I said that I felt like Soy Luna barely was marketed and people were like ”No it has higher ratings than Violetta!!” - and it turned out I simply missed it because as I said, in my country they barely marketed it in comparison to Violetta and since it did not even get an english dub, kids who did not know spanish could not talk ”internationally” about it in the same way, and mostly had to talk about it locally with the people from their own country.

I definitely agree that Violetta was such a phenomenon that they really tried pushing it on americans. ”Come on!! All of latin america and Europe are obsessed!!!! You need to join in on the fun!!” and they were like ”uh no thanks we don’t like dubs and the kids will be bored if it’s subbed”, and that eventually lead to them not even caring to dub SL. The only thing that is sad about that is that we could have gotten british Ámbar.
