can we talk about sukuna and rika and why the king and queen of curses having a dispute is also narratively fitting? if sukuna is an heian era sorcerer with an antipathy and disregard of human emotions and the weak's will to live, blind to love and unable to comprehend the value of relationships with others then rika, as his counterpart, works especially well. rika is just a kid, or was just a kid. an innocent young girl who ended up dying tragically and saw herself transform into a vengeful spirit after being cursed by love. not only does she represent the weak (remember when sukuna's slaughter of women and children was implied?), she represents love itself. with her feelings lingering after death, she clinged onto her existence with the sole wish of protecting yuuta. it counteracts so well with sukuna's selfish will to kill time before his final breathe, which he admitted to be his will and motivation.
before i move on to my next idea, which let me preface by saying that it might be a little out there and dives into theory territory, i'm going to contextualise it with some information on the symbolism of "king and queen" that might help understand why this thought may make - at least some - sense.
in alchemy the king usually appears in conjunction with the queen, representing the sun-and-moon duality. in accordance with the theory of sulfur and mercury, which together, after alchemist purification, form the philosopher’s stone (also called the elixir of life, associated with rejuvenation and immortality), usually represented by the crowned hermetic androgyne (the union of the complementary male and female, achieving perfection or completion in the human state). according to jung, the king and queen also signify the spiritual conjunction that takes place when the process of individuation is complete, with the harmonious union of the unconscious and consciousness. jungian psychology has subjected the alchemistic tradition to extensive analysis and views the king less as an image of paternal authority and more as an archetype of higher insight and wisdom.
with that in mind, i think it's easy to understand where i'm headed but i want to add something else. remember jjk 0? geto's plan at the time was to obtain rika so he could use her power and move forward with his plan to annihilate all no-sorcerers. he believed her to be the key to achieve his goal and was willing to risk his own life for it. furthermore, the story is highly based on buddhist concepts and one of the core aspects of jujutsu kaisen is the cycles of suffering the characters are subjected to. in buddhism the goal is to become free of the samsara (continuous cycle of life, death and rebirth), eliminate suffering and achieve nirvana (enlightment). this ties withe the name of the series as kaisen is comprised of the kanji 'kai', meaning cycle, and 'sen', meaning battle, which combined with jujutsu (which means magic/sorcery but contains the word curse) describe the story as an endless battle of curses. and in a sense, the story also repeats itself, between generations and storyline-wise with the events circling back to how it all began. yuuta managed to land a fatal strike on geto once again, but now rika is pointed to be in a direct confrontation with sukuna as the queen of curses. now that i went through all the context needed to understand this, is it possible rika is once again in danger of being taken away? the idea of achieving a state of perfection with the unity between king and queen is quite intriguing. sukuna finally addressing yuuji as a worthy rival because of his unshakable resolve and unbreakable soul, is almost directly implying yuuji to be the one with whom sukuna has his last battle. an ultimate power-up (or the equivalent to), would be veyy cathartic before a final fight where yuuji would have the opportunity to finally go all out and have his well awaited and deserved protagonism (in my eyes, at least).

So apparently we’re getting a new Legendary in Ovenbreak, presumably for this update, and given the theme, they’re probably another sea based one, thus bringing our total sea based Legendaries to 3
I mean, I don’t mind getting a new Legendary, and I’ll probably like this new one when they come out, but do we really need 3 sea Legendaries? Is there not anything else we could do for more Legendaries?

Evil versions of the main cast siblings be like…
Alcryst: My parents had me because if they hadn’t, then their only legacy would’ve been Diamant and that would’ve been a tragedy.
Céline: Wish my brother would hurry up and die so I can inherit the throne. Also tea is gross.
Timerra: Everyone tells me I’m an amazing singer, but I’m honestly too shy to sing in front of a crowd. Also I’m vegan.
Hortensia: I hate it when people call me cute. I just want to be left alone and not draw attention to myself.

24 for Misa?
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of Misa?
Omg good question! I'm not truly even in that many fandoms to draw comparisons between, buttt...
hahaha would it be weird to say LOTR cinematic universe Gollum? (I haven't gotten that far in the books yet)
Let me explain...
-both Misa and Gollum appear partway through the story and then are constantly third-wheeling on the two main boys + whatever immense sexual tension they have going on with each other (plus L/Sam both seem super resentful of Misa/Gollum in a way that's like, sooo do you just not trust them and think they're annoying, or are you ALSO secretly a wee bit jealous that they keep busting in on your alone times with the bestie / jealous that they can relate to the bestie in a different way than YOU can due to their usage of a cursed magical/supernatural item that you don't have the same intimate connection to yourself, maybe?? 😏)
- both are often being a BIT of an immature drama queen at little insults, yet also often offending others without shame
-Both are surprisingly tough and resilient through traumatic events
-both are single-mindedly obsessed with this one thing they can't have in a way that both annoys you as the audience and sometimes makes you feel bad for them at different turns + causes them to make themselves useful for selfish and transparent ulterior motives to the protagonist on their journey
(Hahaha I'm sorry for this dumbass comparison btw, but there's only a small smattering of fandoms I actually feel involved enough in to talk about/choose from)

I can’t believe she’s going to die and this is never going to happen somebody km
And the fact that since she died he never married anyone and there was never a Queen of Wallachia because he only ever loved Lale and no one would replace her and if she couldn’t be Queen nobody would be

What was the significance of the tomatoes? Falling upon Gabriel's naked arrival?
Are the fruits going to fall?
Is this foreshadowing?
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Are the good old fashioned lover boy and the love of his life going to get their shit together?
Is Aziraphale going to realize he's fallen in love for the first time and this time he knows it's for re-ee-ee-eeeaal?
These are the questions I need answered.
(This was supposed to be a short and silly post, but my thoughts blew up in the tags, so read them if you want a silly fan theory)

what are your thoughts on jane seymour?
well...to tie into another unanswered anon in my inbox, i think there is something fairly nauseating about a woman 'poor you'-ing a man that just judicially murdered his wife, brother-in-law, friends, a court musician. etc, not to mention, you know. marrying him ten days after that fact ('do you THINK she CHOSE the date', no, but, i do think she accepted it, which doesn't suggest much in the way of integrity)
i think that emotional reaction is often regarded as unfair, yk, why do people not have the same animus for henry's wives after jane, for example? they also married someone that renounced, exiled, repudiated, and forbade his first wife from seeing their daughter (whom he bastardized, for good measure) for the remaining five years of her life, arrested, tried, executed his second wife, whose daughter he also bastardized...
and, while that is technically true, none of these women had served as anne's lady-in-waiting (or, for that matter, catherine's also). jane would have at least known, probably beyond a reasonable doubt, in that intimate position, that anne was, at the very least, not guilty of adultery. the last three were told a story, by people of authority and credibility beyond just henry. i am sure jane was also told a story, but the difference is that she probably knew it wasn't true, or at least...not entirely true.
anne served as catherine's, and anne, to some degree, probably believed a story that she could not have really known was true or untrue (that of her marriage to arthur), because she wasn't there. she also probably (conveniently, if you want to be ungenerous) believed what henry believed, on that subject (and we can say the same for jane, at least in relation to the validity, or lack thereof, of anne and henry's marriage...it's more something you get from reading between the lines, but she might have mentioned the rumored percy precontract as far as the 'none consider it lawful' tack, see: 5). anne at the very least, accepted with equanimity, the derogation of her predecessor and stepdaughter, or, according to some reports, pursued them with vigor. add to the mix the arrest, imprisonment, and execution of the former within a week of her betrothal to henry, along with a close family member of the former (seeing as catherine didn't really have any at court besides mary, i guess it would have to be her); and maybe that hypothetical scenario can shed some light on why some have more animus for jane seymour than anne boleyn (being a 'bystander' does not equate with being an 'innocent bystander’, nor does having an unloving husband endow someone with sainthood...depending on the circumstances, inaction can also be damning).
alright, well, that’s off my chest. here’s some more q&a’s that give my opinions on the subject, as i just ran out of spoons:
emotively/ circumstantially
relationship with eldest stepdaughter and (2)
seymour/’aragonese’ faction
relationship with henry and (2)

The older I get (I say as if I'm not in my mid 20s) the more I feel isolated from other queer people my age. And not even in a bad way, its frustrating feeling alien to what is supposed to be my community but I prefer isolation over constantly trying to keep up with whatever the new TV show/ aesthetic/ interest/ joke is.

🖊 for any milo and/or reiji details they fascinate me ^-^
YES thank u they live in my brain
Let me go on a tangent before I even get to what this ask actually is cause why wouldn’t I- Milo and Reiji are interesting characters to compare to each other, because despite their entwined storylines, I don’t draw a lot of connections between them as they were designed.  Characters that never interact are fun to draw conclusions with because it’s more obscure out-of-universe things:  Julian and Milo are so different but they follow very similar paths and come from very similar places.  Milo and Brooke (actually they do interact but only like, once) both deal with the results of a corrupted worldview that once questioned, can’t be ignored once again.  Reiji and Diana share an inherently wary, bleak outlook on how the world functions as a result of their own experiences.  And characters that do interact but were designed that way are... designed that way.  Julian and Liliana are the same stuff poured into different molds, impossibly similar and impossibly different, and that drives everything about their relationship- they’re foils.  Diana and Julian start at the same place in the same situation, (for different reasons), and end up wildly different people in opposite directions- they are diverging paths evidenced by truth or lies.
But Milo and Reiji aren’t connected by anything inherent or anything unchangeable.  Their meeting in the first place is mostly chance and a little bit of give and take of compassion.  They stick together because the alternative is being alone in a world that’s so much bigger than both of them, so much older, and just a little bit more broken.  Their relationship is a choice in a way that really isn’t the case for a lot of other characters.
And I mean, they do have parallels, but they seem different somehow, because they actually apply in-universe.  They reflect off each other.  They both leave something behind that they wish they could get back: but while Reiji’s was taken from him by circumstance and chance, Milo’s was a culmination of something grown that eventually he had to choose to abandon, though if there was any other way, he would have taken it.  (He tried, before.  It didn’t work.)
But now they’re both missing something, and with it, their place.  Reiji doesn’t know where he belongs and the truth is that he doesn’t belong anywhere.  He can’t return to the one place he did- (it wasn’t a place, but a people.  They’re long gone, even as they live) -and now he searches aimlessly for someplace he can return to.  He doesn’t find one.  Milo loses everything he’s ever known when he walks away, and even as he makes the decision to, it feels like the admission of some crime (it looks that way to them, and he knows it).  He longs for the community he lost, but even if he gets something close to it, it’s wrong, because it isn’t them, and because the reason he left still follows him.
They’re both ghosts wandering a vast expanse of unknown.  There is exploration in it- Milo especially does genuinely love the places he passes through, the people he meets briefly, the idiosyncrasies of each town, city, village.  Reiji less so- he’s only ever known the wandering, so it isn’t as special to him.  He’s always looking for something that will change, but even so, traveling with Milo forces him to see things he wouldn’t otherwise.
The difference between them is that Milo stops being a ghost.  As time goes on, less and less is searching and more and more is exploring.  More is fixed than is broken.  But the opposite is true for Reiji.  As he finds nothing it feels more and more like he is one of very, very few.  That he has found no place to exist because there is no place for him, for those like him.  Reiji is looking for answers in an environment that buried most of them, in a world that hunts the rest.  And it becomes this obsession- a thousand whys.
Why didn’t his flock look for him?  Why did he even survive?  Why is he hunted?  Why did it start and why won’t it change?  Why is the world sitting on the ashes of an older one?  Why are people broken by something they don’t remember?  Why does every place he goes scream that there used to be more?  Why are his people a part of it?  Why are they here?  Why do they occupy a world that is so clearly not made for them?  Why does he not know where they are made for?
Reiji asks a thousand whys and they can all be summarized by one what: What happened?
Milo and Reiji cross incomprehensible distances and in the time that takes, a lot changes.  Milo goes from being a ghost of who he was and who he should be to being alive in a way he wasn’t before, genuine in a way he didn’t allow.  Milo looks for an answer in a different way than Reiji, because he is looking for certainty.  He wants someone to tell him, with no room for error, what is true and what is corrupt.  He wants surety and permanence in a way that just doesn’t exist, and so instead must choose which side he’s on- he must decide what to believe, because nobody can tell him black and white.  With that choice becomes an acknowledgement that the world isn’t as simple as good and evil, and the two can very much coexist, that perfect and unredeemable don’t really exist, not here, anyway.  He’s allowed to just be.  Reiji, though, doesn’t get the opportunity to make that choice, to take that answer.  He isn’t looking for the answer to a moral question or a cosmic should.  He is looking for a reason, which is an order of magnitude more impossible to find.  He looks to the past for why and the nature of time is that he keeps getting further and further from it.  He finds very little, which only makes him look harder, which makes it worse when he finds even less.  He starts down an impossible spiral that he can’t get out of until he finds what he wants, but what he wants just doesn’t exist in the way he needs.
#ask#ocs#this is... incomprehensible#mein gott. i didn't mean to do that. THANK YOU for enabling me but like.. goddamn#i HOPE they fascinate u because you are getting ABSOLUTE BATSHITTERY in response#basically uhhhhh i would like to formally apologize to reiji for making him like this? it wasn't my intent but now hes here#get fucked sketchbook boy#u ask for details i give u the rundown of their overall character arcs in the most vague way possible. good FUCKING luck#im so sorry. have fun?? idk IM having fun anyway. thank u queen for allowing this#they are just.. my little guys who are so incredibly fucked up. i will talk about them SO MUCH and i will be SO INSANE about them#i loveeee comparing characters to each other I love how they're different and the same i love foils and parallels and bullshit and arcs#i like how i started this like 'oh yeah milo and reiji arent actually that parallely' and then proceeded to say the exact opposite#i guess they arent on PURPOSE. the others that are are like that on purpose but these two just ended up that way#they're just guys. little dudes in a uhhhhhhhhhh environment a couple hundredish years post-natural apocalypse. you know. as you do#i have so many fuckin thoughts. probably could go on another tangent but this already turned out longer than i meant it to so i wont do that#i mean IF YOU WANT ME TO. but i shant#feel like a widow in a murder mystery.  '~ive already said too much...'#ya know. whadever man its 1am again. pleace daniel we can't keep doing this
