the difference in Percy's water healing power in the show vs the movie is actually kind of interesting because while subtle, in the show the water heals his injury and then his blood is washed away, but in the movie you can actually see the water push Percy's blood back inside his body as its healing him... and I cannot believe I'm saying this but I think I like the movie's depiction of this power more because of that???

peter bringing mayday with him to do spider stuff because yeah, he had things to live for before--but now he has a child and he is going to raise this child and be there for her and maybe if she’s there, strapped to his chest, he’ll be more careful. he’ll consider his life almost as precious as hers. maybe bringing mayday to work is a precaution.

"If you love Barbie, this movie is for you. If you hate Barbie. This movie is for you."
I think this line is not just about making sure the movie is for everyone, but it is an acknowledgement of all those girls who saw all the prejudice and hate around girlhood and anything girly and decided to find strenght in forcing themselves to hate that stuff too. All those girls that never wore pink and played football and hated dolls and twilight and boy bands and the idea of motherhood (not saying that girls couldn't just be like this, but I'm talking about the ones who felt a pressure to exhibit certain behaviours to avoid being picked on, or to fit in with others as most girly things have always been ridiculed and mocked) And I think this movie might just be calling them back, to say that it's okay, to find some reconciliation with the childhoods that were forced on them and the childhoods that they were forced out of.
Girls didn't choose to have Barbies forced on them and girls didn't choose to be belittle for liking the only things that they were allowed to have. And I think this movie is trying to be for them.

i dont see enough people talking about how adam, even if he was rescued, wouldve had to sit and watch the body of zepp, the man whos head he bashed in until lawrence stopped him, decompose in front of him.. adams squeamish we know that, he gagged/puked at johns 'body', and freaked out at lawrence sawing his foot off.. and now hes forced to sit here and watch the man whos head is splayed across the floor by his own hands with no distraction

I think the portrayal of Spider-Man 2099 in Across the Spider-Verse is in-character in that aside from like Shattered Dimensions he's always been portrayed as a bit of an asshole who slips into anti-hero territory at times and generally has a "needs of the many over the needs of the few" mindset and given his specific circumstances in the movie it's not unreasonable to think he could take the actions he does. However it does kinda suck that since like 99% of moviegoers had no idea who he was before the movie came out their first impression of him is when he's in an antagonistic role and people think "antagonist" and "villain" are synonyms so now I'm gonna have to listen to people who've never read a comic saying he's a villain or isn't a real Spider-Man for the rest of time or at least until he inevitably changes his mind in the third one.

I'm sorry but I just do not subscribe to the opinion that the hunger games movies were in any way bad or that they "butchered" the characters or themes that suzanne so meticulously and lovingly created, because a) she was always a constant presence in the creation of those movies and the directors/producers were very respectful and mindful of the differences between her books and what they could actually implement in a visual medium that would make sense and propel the story forward in a way that made sense in their interviews, and b) even though the movies definitely don't show all of the thematic nuances of the books, and although they do gloss over/erase a lot of the ways that the games affect katniss and peeta (namely his disability/her loss of hearing), and while the movies are quite preoccupied with the visual aesthetic and streamlining the story for a wider audience, they do still contain the heart and soul of the books and, to me, the creators seemed fiercely protective of suzanne's core vision. also fuck you they're just amazingly well-shot, well-written, and well-acted films, including the mockingjay movies, and i will die on this hill
