One guy. Er, I mean two, no, no! Four, four completely different guys, no correlation between them, no sir! Started this around same time as this KID one. It should be same style proportion-wise. As I was messing around for fun/on purpose of finding something that more cartoony? simpler in flow? Anyways, the design/style notes/thoughts under the cut, I did put lots of my exhausted braincells into Kaito/KID difference

Overall style inspos: 1) "I need to think of Sonic but like more human-y" 2) Miho Shimogasa (PPGZ/Kaito Joker/BatuSpi Toppa Bashin) 3) PSWG and SPvsW lol kinda, just from my head how I remembered em though

>Cone and Shin: Originally wasn't planning on putting shadows in his eyes, but without em he's straight up "People with blue eyes" meme. Creepy too much. Neat and sharp a bit. Cone is a pain to size correctly. I think I kinda got it right? But maybe he should had been just tad taller? You never know if he's like 95cm or 1m and something Side note, but Cone's shoes really make me think of Sonic's- >Shin and Kaito: Neat and bit sharp vs more laid back and messy. Also more puffy/round on corners? I basically want him to have puffy sleeves/sleeves that got some volume to em because it fits the magician in my eyes. Adds to hands/arm movement Also Shin's eyes of more your blue/dark blue shades, while Kaito's of blue-ish purple That's to say, I imagine/think Shinichi is the one who hunches more, while Kaito is the one who tends to lean back a bit/keep posture mostly straight (if he ain't sleeping in class lol) >Kaito and KID: Kinda pathetic and messy vs your perfect phantom thief. More shadowy/half-closed eyes vs "oh he's bright awake and ready to go stupid go crazy". Some guy vs the charisma itself. That's to say, shadows cover Kid's visible eye most of the time. And he also has that grin...or his mouth hidden at all. His hair appears bit more fluffier and neater, too. I also tried to keep that juxtaposition with Shinichi of "more sharps vs more round" with him as well. Overall, I like the thought of what if Kaito was more loser in canon, as in less people in school liking him, pitying for his family situation, etc, no entirely of course, because it's simply him, but feel it be more fun in contrast with Kid (and Shinichi) Also, for Kid's cape...just didn't felt like drawing it here, you can excuse me, right?

HERE IT IS

this is my definitely completely necessary, i promise, sonic style study!! i spent nine and a half hours on this canvas! aaa! i will master this style if it's the last thing i do!!!

more about my process under the cut!

the purpose of this study was to really get the proportions down as i figure out how sonic characters fit into my style. for this specific study i was mainly looking at the model sheets for the sonic team racing animation. i like the cartoony/sharp style combined with the more modern designs. eye and especially muzzle shapes played an important part in my progress with this.

my process began with looking at the sheets for sonic and shadow specifically-- sonic, because he's the blueprint for the style, and shadow because he's a lot like sonic and also i lov ehim. you can see i took lots of notes and "measurements" at first (on the left) and heavily referenced the poses from the model sheets. i made an effort to avoid relying on tracing at this stage. (and later on, i colored using my best judgement-- no color picking! gotta train your eye for color too!)

there's still so many intricacies that i'm trying to get an eye for, but after this i feel a lot more confident in portraying this style in a way that satisfies me. there's just so much to balance!!

after i felt comfortable with my more scientific approach, i tried getting more expressive, experimenting with different expressions and poses that i thought fit the characters (and injecting some of my headcanons obviously). this was to practice conveying each character's personality and as well as drawing them in ways that weren't completely static, like so much of my art has been lately (character designing kinda leans into that...)

i would have drawn more but i ran out of space and got tired lol. perhaps i'll do a part two, because i want to draw more characters interacting than who i usually gravitate towards. amy and knuckles were a dip into that. (side note, i was kinda shocked at how much easier knuckles was to draw with the right references, and how difficult amy is despite looking similar to sonic and shadow, who i have a lot more experience with. it's her hair...)

anyway, i'm very proud to have completed this, and i feel like it helped me improve so much! i highly recommend style studies if you have the patience for it. you can get the same effect by just drawing the characters a lot, but it feels good to sit down and really dedicate some time and space to it. for me anyway :)

hellooo to my friends who have never drawn a sonic character before but like my twst x sonic au 👋

so ive never been good at tutorials, so don’t expect something detailed here, but i CAN offer some tips! but as a general note, the sonic style doesnt have to look like one way, MANY sonic artists stylize them to fit their own style or what’s comfortable for them! so heres my way of drawing them !

first, lets start with something simple, a hedgehog! specifically, i will show you how to draw Riddle since he is one of the easiest (imho) of the designs ive made to draw! to me, the hedgehog is the basis of all characters really, if you know how to draw a hedgehog you can draw other species! i always start off with this general body shape

most male characters will follow this shape, but not all, for the sake of keeping this simple, i wont go into the different shapes. the main shapes that will be your friend while drawing sonic characters will be the circle and cylinders! usually legs and arms are a little longer as well as hands and feet being just a little bigger. these guys (mobians) are small most of them average in height around anything between 3ft to 4ft

this muzzle shape is universal, every species starts from this shape, if they have a beak or a long snout, it will start from this shape! (the nose placement is what will give the illusion of a longer snout) riddle, like sonic, has a mono eye (which basically means it doesnt connect to the muzzle in the center, you can have two eyes just by connecting them to the muzzle)

ive broken down riddles hair/quills into 4 parts, the quills that frame his face are a lot like amys, his back head quills follow a shape similar to shadows, but they arent as long, then are his bangs and the little hairs that form the heart shape

after that just add the clothes to the base body shape and here he is!

fun fact for my non sonic fans: did you know that male mobians aren’t technically allowed to wear pants? canonically they just arent supposed to! i, however, think this rule is DUMB!! so i give them pants

it takes some practice but remember you can stylize them as much as you want!! they dont have to look like the canon style!! just have fun !!

Well, there’s one specific scene for the first question.

I saw this and was like, wait. This alien’s kinda.. hot. And he was making these adorable faces all cuz he was fighting Saitama. Then he dies, after making Saitama use the serious punch for the first time in the story.

They were really something. So naturally i started shipping them. And I naturally went to ao3 to look up borosai and despaired cuz there was only like 40 fics for them at the time. But still, I read them all(and they were all great), and started drawing art for them. Back then, I had no idea that I’d be fixating on them for so long, longer than anything i had a fixation for😂

My favorite thing about this ship is that they’re so different. Almost everything about them is so comically different. Just look at these two.

Just them standing next to each other is visual comedy at its finest.

They have different moralities, personalities, styles, amounts of hair, etc.

Which makes their similarities all the more interesting. They’re both bored to death, because they’re too strong. They both crave that stimulation of being in a fight with their lives at stake. They both feel lonely, because no one understands what it’s like to have this kind of strength. This loneliness is shown more in depth with Saitama, but I think it’s the same with Boros too. When we’re first shown Boros, he’s all stoic and cold with his subordinates, his expression barely changing. But when he meets Saitama, it morphs into excitement. Then as the fight goes on, it turns into an almost childish glee, making him ramble on about his strength, his home planet, until Saitama snaps at him to stfu😂 But who can blame him? After so many years of solitude he finally meets someone who’s on the same page as him.

With their fight, Boros gets what he wanted. The fight he was craving so much. A fight telling him that there’s still something that can surprise him in this Universe. That he wasn’t alone. Which is why even as he was shocked that he had lost, he doesn’t feel angry or bitter about it. Rather, it almost seems like he feels pity for Saitama. Because surely there’s no chance for him to meet someone who is as strong as him. So he calls out Saitama’s name, as his last words, and dies.

All the above is more or less canon, but if we were to veer a bit off course into an au where Boros lived, there’s so much potential for an interesting relationship between them. Imagine the possibilities. He could be like a stronger version of Sonic, challenging Saitama week after week, always getting his ass kicked but coming back for more, a little stronger than last time. And hey, since this is a Borosai au, they could very well fall in love😆

This turned out to be longer than I expected and not exactly on topic but look, I can’t help myself.

The current hc that’s rotating in my brain rn is that they’re madly in love, and is married. And have a child😂

Okay i know this sounds absolutely bonkers but I’ve been hardcore shipping them for too long and them being in a relationship is like a default setting for me when I think about them, so giving them a kid to take care of on top of all that just came naturally. Imagine the utter chaos it would ensue. It’d be peak comedy.

This lil guy. His name is Daan. I love him so much.

1) most of us draw! we know its different with most systems but since our host grew up loving art its kinda a system wide knowledge/hobbie something we just know we gotta do like reading or writing lol does that make sense? (tho some dont enjoy it like others ect ect)

2) it really depends on who our most frequent front of the month is /hj but most the time we wanna say its a collaborative effort! it really just depends on who drew what and if they liked it enough (or was comfortable enough) to share

3) when people remember small things about our headmates >>>>> everything else /vpos hehehehe but yeah! molly and emily love sonic! thats their favorite thing to draw (but molly will really just doodle whatever a headmates asks her to if she's up to it) red really like drawing slapstick doodles tho! we learned odie is a big fan of drawing hair and another headmates like drawing horror/gore (and this one might not count but rj loves drawing the rise boys specifically)

4) oh god yeah and we still struggle with how to deal with that dhdjjdd it really depends on who's wanting to draw at the same time, red and mikey usually just tag team it like molly and louis but if its like donnie and alex they usually wanna draw two separate things and it ends up like the 'this is fine' meme so basically we end up not drawing honestly lol

5) we're bias on this one! cuz we can usually recognize who drew what (sometimes lol) so to us yes? but to everyone else we dont really know ^^; we do know that two of our headmates have extremely different styles tho! but we dont post their art on the blog lmaoo

So for my Rouge's design, it's mostly made of shapes such as hearts, rectangles, ovals, and triangles, as well as some swirly lines ig? Here's some examples:

Another difference between official Rouge's design and my design for her is how fluffy she is. Official Rouge has more of slicked-back hair that curls at the end slightly while mine has much more floof to it:

Also another difference is that I add the little heart eyebrows but that's technically just my art style becausd I draw eyebrows on all Sonic characters lol-

Friendly Four Redesing

Hey guys! Everything is fine? I hope so! Well, today I wanted to share some of my ideas about the Darkwing Duck universe, some universe concepts I made with my dear friend @anniesilveratl2room and also show my version of the amazing (and extremely underexplored...TnT) Negaverse. Don't get me wrong, I love the episode that this alternate reality is presented in and I love the concept, but... I don't know.. That dimension is kind of vague to me. The fact that their opposites are realities is an amazing idea, so much so that I love the concept of Scourge and Moebius from the Sonic comics (Ian Flynn, I love you for making this idea better explored), but my friend and I wanted to work with something different. Here, in OUR version of the Negaverse, it will not be a reality of "opposites", here it will be a "mirror" reality. I know that many people will say that it is "the same thing", but not in our conception. Personality doesn't change here, MORALS and CHOICES change!

That is, a different choice that the characters made would drastically change an event or something else important. Another note: Annie and I considered what we were shown in the 2017 Ducktales and also OUR alternate universe, so in addition to being different from the original series, it will also have necessary changes. That said... Now it's time to show off the designers I made for our universe's Friendly, all credit for redesigning the Fearsome Four from the original reality goes to my friend Annie (praise her please!).

Let's start in order and the first one I want to show you is Nega Bushroot.

This, in fact, was one of the things I most procrastinated to do with Liquidator, not because it was difficult, but because it was VERY SIMPLE! I wanted something in the design that would set him apart from the original but still resemble him, but just changing his hair color wasn't enough for me. So I wanted to give him a more "aggressive" look, with the hair here being more spiky instead of the fluffy one in the original, I put vines with thorns on his arms (which I will LOVE to explain their concept later on) and... I gave him a scarf for his neck because I wanted an extra change (this one I was in doubt about wearing because Nega Dator already had one, but I put one with a different style).

Next member of the Friendly Four: Megavolt. This is one of the ones that I liked playing with the concept the most and you should already know that it was the inspiration... Static Shocker! I just LOVE this drawing, seriously! But then again... I wanted to do something new but leave the essence of the original, so I left details like the battery on the back, the color palette but being inverted and also the electricity theme. This is one of the ones I liked the most and found it fun to do.

Now Quackerjack and, man... This one was difficult to make the costume, again following the concept and such... But the most difficult thing was the details of the costume, I wanted to still give the clown look, but keeping the color palette, so I researched clown clothes on the internet and went by instinct. Maybe I overdid the elements, but I liked the end result.

And lastly (and my favorite Fearsome/Friendly), Liquidator! This one was actually the easiest... But still I procrastinated just because of the painting. Because drawing water is boring and annoying! But in terms of "outfit" design it was simple, I gave him a scarf and gave him bands on his hands (again one that I really want to show how it would look when he changes hands on any weapon). I wanted to give him an aspect of a fighter and give that air of a relaxed person, because I saw a lot of people who would consider the Nega Liquidator version to be "fearful" or someone more "passive", but I prefer to believe that he would not be like that, but that he would be just someone sentimental and who is someone who protects his family both emotionally and physically, but that's a story for another day.

Halloween is right around the corner so I thought I would create a piece for the season. While its not spooky and scary related, I still have my Unity Trio, Eki and Nia dressing up in cosplay for the holiday.

Starting off we have Danny cosplaying Kengo Benimaru from ‘Yo-Kai Watch Y School Heroes’.  I’m still kind of new to the series of ‘Yo-Kai Watch Y School Heroes’ but when I saw Kengo Benimaru, this hero form became one of my favourites (Next to Earth Walker and Shikkokumaru). I felt that he was the best fit for Danny as they both act around the same level of maturity and both use a sword/blade as their weapon of choice. 

Danny worked pretty hard to get his cosplay to be as accurate as possible although he couldn’t get the skin tone accurate since he didn’t want to use too much face paint for it and that he lacked a way for the dual tails, his small dagger was his idea for compensating for the Reiken Danzetsumaru and he used temporary hair dye on the tips of his hair for the fur colour. 

Next is Mich cosplaying as Blitzo from ‘Helluva Boss’. Yeah, I know ‘Helluva Boss’ can be a bit... Crude but Blitzo and Mich are similar as they both use guns and have some areas of their personalities that are alike. The difference is that Mich is better at communication in terms of his emotions and can take responsibilities for his actions, Blitzo has a bit to work on, but I know my favourite Imp will get there eventually. 

There were some problems with Mich’s cosplay, but he just compensated a lot of it; The style of the jacket had to be altered and the style of the undershirt got in the way, so he went with a normal t-shirt. The face paint took some time, but he mostly focused on the natural markings/birthmarks and the scars since he really wanted to focus on those aspects.

Next is Riya cosplaying as Rosalina from the ‘Mario’ franchise. I did struggle with choosing who Riya would cosplay as but eventually I chose Rosalina since they’re pretty similar in terms of design and, in my headcannon, similar in personality. 

Riya took a lot of time into getting her cosplay accurate despite her shyness of her shoulders showing (Hence why she is blushing a bit), she even got the wand made and slightly styled her hair a bit to better reflect Rosalina. The only she did not include was the crown but that was because she was worried that it would not stay on her head. 

Next is Eki cosplaying as Cosmo from ‘Sonic X’. While I did struggle as well for Eki choice of cosplay, I eventually chose Cosmo from ‘Sonic X’ as I see them both a shy and sweet character who hold a lot of potential that is hidden deep within them. 

The attire of Cosmo is close to Eki’s general style, so it was easy for her to get this pretty accurate. The only thing that was changed was the neck area to be a bit higher, not a drastic change was done. 

Last but not least is Nia cosplaying as Randy Cunningham/The Ninja from ‘Randy Cunningham: 9Th Grade Ninja’. When it came to choosing who Nia was going to cosplay as, it was not hard for me to choose the Ninja known as Randy Cunningham since they are very alike, and I see them becoming good friends if they were to ever meet. 

Nia’s cosplay for the Ninja suit is pretty accurate with some minor changes to the scarf and no inclusion of the hood as it would have made things harder for Nia to see (She has limited vision due to having to wear her eyepatch). She’s sticking to her human form since the Ninja is a human. 

I had fun with drawing this since it allowed me to explore more with my characters and who they are like to other characters that I like.

Some context (ENG)

Thought I’d be a good idea to give some context about the main character of this blog, so…

¿Who is this?

Sonidy is the most boring, tasteless Oc in the world, a freaking recolored Sonic whom doesn’t even have a cool or pretty name.

Nonetheless, I love her dearly and wouldn’t change her for anything. So let me ramble tell you about the process I’ve been through to create her.

She was meant to be used as an avatar for Youtube (which she actually is). Born from the simple train of thought that “Hey, I like Sonic, but I don’t wanna use the existing characters, maybe I can create one myself?”

So after a very short time searching, I found this game, “Furry dollmaker”, which did exactly what I was looking for. As the character design was obviously the same as Sonic character’s style.

It was from Deviantart, and I think after Flash stopped working on browser it’s not possible use it on the site. But you can try it yourself thanks to the wayback machine if you want.

That’s her first design (I just took myself for reference. Hair and eyes color, and the outfit I wore that day, gloves included). It wasn’t the best, but probably many people would think it’s better than lame-ass edits and art theft, right?

Well as you surely noticed, that didn’t remotely crossed my mind.

As I said, the main goal was to make an avatar that I could use on multiple websites. I did a video using this image, but let’s say it wasn’t good, not at all. Even for the standards back then for the specific community I wanted to get in (and if you’re wondering, that video doesn’t exist anymore ‘cause I never uploaded it. I didn’t even render it because I didn’t like how it came out. I still remember how it was, and trust me, it was boring). And the most important fact that made me change my mind about using it was that it seemed so rigid and inexpressive to me. To this day I cannot remember why I cared about that, but yeah that was what it bothered me the most.

So, thinking on a solution, I remembered something.

You see, inside the community I wanted to be part of, there was an even more niche group of creators whom all used Sonic avatars, with different colors and styles.

I should mention that all of this happened when I was like 12-13 years old, so I didn’t knew a lot on how edition tools worked. And after investigating for a bit, I found myself following a tutorial from a user called “Fedesonic” (the user doesn’t exist anymore) that showed how to make you own Sonic character. (Actually, if you know that Sonic paradox’s short, basically that’s what happened), and I learned how to paint over Sonic X’s images.

This was the first recolor I did; I had to simplify the design though. ‘Cause if you haven’t noticed by now, I hadn’t the slightest notion on how to draw. So I wasn’t capable on putting on that many details (plus I would have to do it all with a mouse and I barely understood how to use the program, so at that moment it seemed an impossible task).

With that, I was able to create some silly videos for a while (I think it was like 2 or 3 years) I kept recoloring frames from Sonic X’s show as I mentioned as they provided a variety of poses and expressions. But I have to admit that I sometimes used fanart too, mainly because I was unaware it was a bad thing (I never proclaimed that it was my own art though, I hope that helps a bit).

And so, I spent a couple of years unable to do anything besides daydream about what I wanted. Thinking about it now, maybe it was a good thing. Because without having to rush I could mediate about the story I wanted, to repeat it over and over in my head, fixing plotholes and replacing scenes for others more imaginative and interesting.

Time went on, I planned to make a series (like a story mode) with the characters to try and make them more interesting, I started it and divided it in two parts, and then my pc exploded because I’m life’s favorite joke.

So even if I managed to rescue my archives, I had not a place to work with them and advance my project.

All of it was getting more complex and, do I really need to depend on whatever pose or expression made by someone else miraculously fits on with the scenes? Maybe I will need to heavily edit the image, and what if no one has done something that’s exactly what I have in mind? What the hell I’m supposed to do then?

To my dismay, the answer was obvious. If I wanted my vision to come out exactly as I imagined: I had to learn how to draw.

Now, probably whoever is reading this is thinking “Duh” but it was a crushing revelation for me back then, mind you >:[ I had never been good at drawing nor I had any interest in doing so. Realizing I had to start from the beginning at something I had zero skill for, when many kids that age are already talented or with tons of practice made me feel insecure and jealous to be honest.

But, I knew I was on my own and didn’t really had an option. If I wanted my stupid daydreams come true I would need to do it myself. So I basically forced myself into it.

I couldn’t find the notebook where I had my first attempts to draw, but they were terrible (as one would expect). I remember thinking “Oh it cannot be that different from just drawing Sonic, adding a few extra details and change the color” WRONG, it was torture, and I had to learn much more than that. (Anyway I have an old deviantart account where there’s pretty old drawings if you wanna see).

Long story short, I spent some years learning on paper, I improved the story, got a new pc, and by that moment I already got a liking for drawing so I got the stupid idea to get into animation too, along with more complex designs for the character because “well, I guess I’m allowed to do that now”.

However, Sonidy never changed too much. I tried to give her a new image, I really did, but no matter how many accessories added, how different made the shape, I never liked the results.

So I just let her be, with very subtle modifications. After all, who cares, it’s not a recolor if I drew it all myself, right? >:]

And that’s the dumb origin story, don’t cheer at the same time everyone thank you. This text wall is just to clarify why I have a soft spot for this bunch of ugly pixels.

BUT, even if she was meant to be used as an avatar, eventually got separated from me, developing her own personality and traits, and though she still has similarity with me as a person, she’s her own thing now.

So, I’ll tell you some things about her.

Sonidy

A wolf/hedgehog hybrid (how original) with brown fur and green eyes. Naive, usually joyful (make her angry is very easy though) and a very emotional person in general.

She likes to discover/learn new things, spent time with her friends, going on adventures, and though she’s not exactly evil, she’s a bit mischievous and likes to cause trouble. She doesn’t like the part where she has to take responsibility for it.

In-Lore she actually has a reason to look like Sonic and have a similar name. As she’s one of many fangirls of the blue hedgehog (he’s basically some sort of celebrity, like in the original Sonic universe). She has him as a source of inspiration so she mimics his style.

She is between 12-26 years old. It’s a big gap but it’s not because of indecision or something. More like her story begins when she’s 12 years old and at the most recent point I have planned she’s 26. And as a side note: Her appearance and personality changes depending on which point of the plot she is, but let’s take all of the above as a general description.

In the meantime, she lives in an island along with her cousins. Where all kind of things happen.

And as a last useless fact: Sonidy has two stories/timelines. The canon one (the one I’ve worked the most with original characters and stuff). And the alternative (which actually was the initial concept I had planned for her. Where I rather inserted the characters on Sonic’s world. Basically your typical fanfic). I bring this up because after thinking about it for a while, I decided to try and rescue those concepts of the alternative timeline. And this blog is the only place I feel safer to post it.

Alright. So...

I'm not just another grey fucker with shades. I have things that set me apart from just drawing a representation of anonymity, such as my clothing choice (striped shorts, sports tank top, and boots) and my body type.

Speaking of my body type, it's pretty simple to get that down. Just go for wide and tall, but do it in a way that can best be described as 'slenderman in a comedically puffy jacket and pants.'

Liberties can be taken with my human design. I don't mind things like skin tone, how certain features are given or taken, or any of those kinds of details, as long as it has similar anatomy to my normal design. But I will kiss you on the mouth if you give me curly hair in some way.

If you want to draw me in a different style from your own, go for a style inspired by those weird early-to-mid '90s video game mascots that tried to copy off of Sonic's homework (for example: Zool, Aero The Acro-Bat, Rocky Rodent, hell, even Glover depending on how deperate I am in the current moment).

Anyway Sonic Cinematic Universe au where Tails builds Omochao out of a busted up badnik. Omochao is basically exactly the same as usual. He does this becuz one time Rachel was over helping Maddie with styling Knuckles' hair, and Rachel asked Knuckles what he missed from his world, and Knuckles said "hmmm... I think.. I think I miss the chao. They used to live all over my island. I haven't seen one in ages. I hope they're doing alright..." and Rachel didn't know what chao are, ofc, so she asked him to draw one when they took a break. Tails tries to draw one too (and is delighted when he discovers the chao on West Side Island and the chao on Angel Island look different, due to the difference in Flicky morphs and Mobian species living in each zone) and Sonic wants to join in, but he realizes he can't remember chao from his brief time living on Mobius. He's saddened but tries putting on a brave face, and Rachel and Maddie keep talking about how they would love to meet a Chao, so Tails figures if he can't take them to Mobius, he could try bringing a piece of Mobius to them! The badnik wasnt hard to get- just break into some govt databases or hunt around a few scrapyards. Omochao doesn't look Exactly like a chao (he has unusual color patterns and glowing yellow LED eyes) and he isn't quite the same (being metal means he isn't soft, and his little floating ball can't emote like a regular chao) but he's a cool friend. Knuckles is a lil wary of him at first, but I think Omochao grows on him. Eventually.

Yeah, everyone can use gadgets, but most uses them in the same way. Anyone can use Tails' gadgets; which a testament of his skill and courtesy, but they don't use it in the way HE does nor apply it to work in tangent to his other skills. That shows his innovation as an inventor, tactician, and ability to adapt. You get a style that's uniquely him, it just needs to be shown more and better lights. The potential is there, we've seen it before.

(Also, flight; although not completely exclusive to Tails, is not something most Sonic characters can do without aid, a vehicle or being powered up. And you can do a lot of things with that ability, but the most that's BEING done concerning that is just lifting, transporting or throwing his allies. {For as popular and over-the-top animated aerial fights are in media, it's sad that Tails still hasn't really touch that realm yet. At the same time as mentioned before, not a lot of characters fly naturally, much less any being a huge enemy of his}. And don't get me started on his tails, he's prime to be the poster child of what a lot of animals can do with their tails, and then some.)

Well, I hc Knuckles with Sonic often spar and test each other, and with Tails in exchange for learning more about tech, Knuckles tries to draw Tails' line of strength through prescribed warm-ups. Since the fox wants to stronger. (Also because he thinks Sonic's type of training for Tails is less "disciplined". :P) So, I imagine with Amy [in exchange for trying to break him out of his shell more in social events], Knuckles has someone to earnestly share his ancestry [and personal grievances] to without feeling too awkward. Takes a bit on Amy's part to knock his walls down though.

This all sounds really cool, and I wish it was true, but is it? Do we know this for a fact? (genuine question). I do think that there's definitely a lot of potential for Tails when it comes to a fighting style that utilizes various gadgets and I hope to see it in a game (I'm not sure that Battle counts for real), but I also don't see why at least someone like Rouge for example wouldn't be able to utilize them in a similar way. (Of course, everyone's way of doing things is different, *but*)

I think, the issue with Tails's flight (and what prevents him from having cool aerial fights) is that that for gameplay purposes it's limited to just a few seconds. Plus the fact that his propeller is located on his lower back makes everything awkward. Logically he shouldn't have the same range of movement as Rouge or even Charmy. (Both from the species that evolved to be capable of flight so seems about right) Though, it's not necessarily an issue sonce logically he also shouldn't be able to fly in the first place or spindash.

The fact that Lost World canonized him having prehensile tails is so funny... (and not even that actually, more like the fact that he can control individual hairs of his fur) I know it's probably not gonna be brought up ever again, but I'm gonna keep considering it canon because they Did That.

In exchange, huh. It's kind of funny to think of Knuckles and Tails like "fine I'll let you teach me X if you let me teach you Y". Wjdjdjdjdns.

I could totally see Knuckles being more open with Amy compared to anyone else. Honestly I'm adopting this headcanon into my worldview. Amy helping Knuckles understand the surface world and the social norms, while Knuckles teaches her about his culture... it's really nice.

Since I really love @marcusthevisual 's Sonic the human AU and his drawing of Jet- I decided to have a crack at drawing Wave and Storm in somewhat of his style with hints of my own style. With Wave I took influence from a small rough sketch of his (it was just of her face) and then let my creativity do the rest. Some elements of her design I came up with are inspired by my own Sonic OC Coral (who is actually supposed to be Waves childhood bestie that is like a sister to her) such as the chains on her belt, the belt buckle and the devil wing tattoo her arm ( my little cheeky reference to the angle/devil gear in Sonic riders Zero gravity). On the other hand, with Storm's I wanted to make my design completely different and unique- since he had grey toned hair- I wanted to balance it out by giving him beautiful warm dark tanned skin- this also kept him young as well since he's supposed to be 19 years old. On his right arm he has an array of tattoos- mostly patterned ones, on the left a cute little bird one (I dunno but I imagine him just getting it because he thought it was lovely). And for his hair I came up with the idea of multiple braids with the beads in them- they are definitely a fun little element that compliment his personality and overall design. For Me, my fave thing about his design is the braids and beads, they suit him so well.

Also I want to draw Rengar so bad in some kind of Zaunite style of clothing there's only two problems 1) I only know hot to do traditional art and 2) I have zero creativity when it comes to clothing without references, I want to draw him with different hair manestyles different braids, when he just undoes his braids and it's all curly, with his mane down (it must be very soft and with lots of volume) and with a ponytail like in the sentinels event

Really understand the desire to draw but being unable to....have ideas bouncing around for fun things, but then I remember can't really draw too well. My sis is letting me use her old tablet so maybe that might make it less awful (likely better than just mouse), but most of my stuff never leaves my own mind. If it does it usually ends with "Woah, this looks like shit" *Closes without saving*. Clothing also just seems rough, I just give up and go vague whenever I had to lol.

just some random facts of why i chose to do certain things in my designs for my console gijinkas (also some of these might be on their bios but whatever)

nintendo family

gamecube was the first one i designed, i dont remember exactly what triggered it, but i was reminded of when i had tried to design a gamecube gijinka maaany years ago when i was a kid (so i wanted to do it again)

her design is inspired by the gamecube's code name: dolphin (the swimsuit like outfit and the dolphin on the top)

nes's design takes inspo from both the english and japanese versions of the console (aka the famicom)

his zapper on his leg is actually a real gun unlike the real life zapper

snes's design inspo comes from a few different games: mother, mario, and zelda (the stars might be from kirby i dont remember)

64's design inspos are mario and zelda (specifically mario 64 and oot)

wii's main outfit was inspired by the wii's original name revolution

wii and wii u consider themselves twins despite the fact that neither console were made at the same time, i just wanted to make fun of the whole "is the wii u just an add-on to the wii?" type of stuff (theyre androids so its ok we can bend the rules)

most of switch's colors come straight from different joycon pair colors

her eyes are also styled after the joycons as well (which is why theyre lazy)

3ds never wears her glasses bc the whole thing about the 3ds is having no need to wear glasses to see the effect

sega family

most of dreamcast's inspo comes from jet set radio and sonic

his jacket is actually the same one i draw my sonic gijinka in, i thought it'd be cute if they matched

the pocket on his overalls represents the vmu (the chao plush for chao adventure)

saturn's inspo is from NiGHTS as the saturn was well known to not have a main sonic title (it did have some side games tho)

master system's head wings come from fantasy zone  

i think her red comes from alex kidd but i forgor

genesis, like dreamcast, has inspo mostly from sonic

ps3 was an oc i created in high school of my own ps3 alongside another ps3 gijinka based on my friend's (tho i dont consider him a gijinka anymore)

ps1 was chosen to be a girl much for the same reason why i picked 64 to be a guy  (the controllers)

microsoft family + pc

all of them have various levels of an alien theme to them based on the original xbox's very...alien theming

xbox is the only one without earrings

360's eyes are inspired by the red ring of death

he did that to his own clothes, he overheats easily

xsx's hair color comes from one of the xsx's code names: project scarlett

as well as his collar: project lockhart (its a heart with a lock in the middle hehe)

Az's Sonic Self-Insert AU Introduction | Part 1

So in-line with making an MHA masterpost to explain those massive AUs that I've had for a while, I'm making one for my Sonic AU too. Which will be even more complicated because I've had Eternal for over 10 years and have been working with this particular version for about 7.

So without further ado, I shall put it all under the cut! This one's gonna be a LOT longer, because I have way more art on-hand than I did for MHA. Over 10 years worth of it, actually.

Alright, so I lied. This AU doesn't actually start with Eternal, technically. It starts with my very first Sonicsona from over 10 years ago, Violet.

Yes, this design was an eyesore, but bare with me. She was my original Sonicsona whom I kinda made by mistake, but damn did she open the doors. I used her for a long time, before scrapping her for reasons unknown, and making Eternal.

I later decided to bring her back as just an OC, and she's become a central part to the AU.

^ This is her current design, give or take some clothes.

Now, onto Eternal. He's one of those inserts I've had long enough that he was originally a girl for many years. However, even when referring to these old designs, we're gonna use he/him for my comfort.

Eternal's original design was. An eyesore to say the least. Blue fur, blue eyes, blue clothes... I did not know color theory and I didn't know any color other than BLUE. Ignore the purple character on the left, that was an "anti" form for this Eternal who legit never got used outside of this picture.

Now lucky y'all I actually don't have much more art of this version from back in the day (That's all packed away in a cringe archive), but I do have a few more recent redraws of the design. Because sometimes I get nostalgic for where Eternal started.

After this, it becomes complicated. I cycled designs for Eternal a lot. I could never get him feeling quite right. For a long time I've sought this balance between feeling like he looks like me, whilst also having an appropriately fun Sonic style design, and also feeling like he represents what I want to be; A me who isn't afraid. Also he was shipped with Sonic.

I also just like a shitton of different aesthetics and couldn't PICK ONE. So E went through a Lot of designs. Therefore bare with me and my potentially terrible memory.

I think this is one of the oldest that I still have. There were some others between this and the blue hedgehog one, but do they matter? Not really. This one is where the Eternal we know now really began. This design is in-line with Nyx's original design (My Sly Cooper insert. Well, the first one). Putting this somewhere around 2015.

Then it transitioned into this hedgehog design. I just really love the aesthetic of the hedgehog designs, okay? Lol. And as you can probably notice, I started shipping him with Shadow. This was legit a complete accident, but Shadow has somehow claimed the top spot as my most important F/O to date. Many have come close and perhaps share his tier, but he's still got a very unique spot all his own. This was in 2016, and this is where I designated Eternal to have psychokinesis. Call me unoriginal but it's literally one of my favorite powers ever.

And then I guess I got annoyed with him being entirely dark brown, and did this design. Still actually love the hair on this one.

And then I wanted to be more "original" and not have a hedgehog design, so I tried echidna. It didn't last long because I like my fursonas having ears, I learned. Also yes, he had a hammer weapon that was inspired by Skyrim. It did not fit the Sonic aesthetic. This design and it's outfits actually set up A LOT of Eternal's aesthetic now, though.

I then did this hedgecat design. Which then transitioned back into just being a cat. I did kinda stick with for a little while at that point, at the least. Also props to me in the first pic for actually drawing him holding my phone lol

And then this design came to be. In terms of physical features, this is the design that built a lot of Eternal now. He was a fox/lynx hybrid at this point. And the colors went back to matching Nyx. I used this design quite a lot, and I think this is the design he had when I started cracking down with actually writing the fic.

And then I made him orange. Because I can. And because I got bored with brown. The one issue I had with this design was properly drawing where his orange head ended and his brown/other color hair began. Could never quite get that right.

And then it turned into this design. Which has also become like a cornerstone of E's current design. This was the design in play when I came out and Eternal officially became a he.

And this was the first drawing of him afterwards. I joked to my best friend that I always had trouble drawing boobs and chest fluff, and always thought that one of them needed to go. Turns out it was the chesticles!

And then I got bored with brown again. I missed taking advantage of how colorful Sonic characters are allowed to be. I missed expressing myself via an unusually colored animal. I missed having fun with my designs.

So, to ring in the new year of 2021 (Sort of), I started redesigning him again. The first design made specifically to be a guy.

A lot of fiddling happened. A boy do I mean A Lot. I fussed over colors a ridiculous amount. Because E is ridiculously important to me, and I needed him to feel just right. In the end...

This is where he stands now. I'm in love with this design more than I have ever loved any of his designs before. This is The One and I'm so ridiculously happy with it.

However... There's more to it, because Eternal actually has two versions. Pre-06 retcon, and Post-06 retcon. I just refer to it as Pre- and Post-retcon/reboot. And in Pre-reboot I gave him a slightly different design. I want to represent my transition through him, because his old designs kind of are a timeline of Me.

So I've let pre-retcon E have a design more similar to older ones while still adding new elements to make it still feel like Eternal as he is now.

I'm still ironing out those design details though, and I have reached the 30 image post limit, so this will be part 1 of this masterpost. Part 2 will get into the actual story and whatnot.
