ᝰ .ᐟ ꩜ fortress of meropide gets intense cold spells, but everything is bearable when you have a loving man to keep you warm. ⟢ [ f ! reader , sfw . ]
Tumblr media
fall always came with a shift towards colder weather. the leaves began to brown and the sweet tunes of fontaine's songbirds were carried by gentle gales. then winter snuck up ever so unsuspectingly; divination experts and meteorologists alike began to predict snowfall, and the court's streets became bustling with those preparing for the upcoming holidays. you, however, were rarely privy to any of this.
such an infatuation with the lord of meropide meant that you spent a significant portion of your year in the ocean's depths. although you'd initially been terrified of the deep sea and what unknowns lurked there, wriothesley quelled your fears and managed to enlighten you as to the true beauty of life down here. whether it was watching the jellyfish float about or cheering on up and coming fighters in the pankration ring, the man truly managed to make you feel at home all the way down here.
the one thing that you'd never managed to get used to, however, was the damn cold. sure, you'd experienced the same transformation in weather when you were living in the overworld, but such a change was more intense down here. wriothesley was accustomed to it after all of his years in the fortress so it took him a second to realize why you opted to stay bundled up in the warm sheets of the bed that you shared.
"doll, is everything okay?" he asked, looking over at you as he picked out his shirt for the day— it would surprise some how many greyscale button ups he owned.
"mhm," you hummed, not wanting to worry the man before he headed off to deal with the necessary duties for the day. however, once he heard the small sneezes coming from you, he noticed what was most likely going on.
"you cold, baby?" he cooes, finding your small nod adorable. you were buried in the sheets at this point, with only your eyes peeking over the top of your pile of blankets.
wriothesley wasted not a moment in striding back over to you. he lifted the blankets and came directly to you, wrapping his large arms around your figure and pulling you into his broad chest. though many assume those with cryo visions tend to run on the chillier side, wriothesley's size and stature had him radiating a fair amount of heat at all times.
"you're freezing," he comments.
"'s so cold down here... i thought i'd get used to it but... clearly not."
he chuckles softly, walking back towards the bed. he shrugs off his coat and removes his boots before sitting down next to you. "come here, love," he pats his thighs.
you oblige, crawling into his lap. of course, the pile of blankets come with you. wriothesley finds it absolutely adorable. he fawned over you, ensuring that the blankets were positioned to perform at peak efficiency. he did debate running ti the infirmary to see if sigewinne had any hot water bottles that he could borrow, but couldn't bear the thought of leaving you alone for a second.
"bless you, doll," he cooes as you sneeze once again. wriothesley reaches over to his waistcoat, retrieving a small hankerchief from his pocket. to be honest, it was rare that he needed to use it himself, rather keeping the object on him at all times should you ever require it. "why don't you try to sleep, sweetheart? i'm not going anywhere,"
"but what about-" you tried to protest, knowing he most likely has work that he needs to tend to.
however, before you could even finish, he cuts you off in one of the most caring tones that only few were privy to. "you're always my priority, princess. everything else can wait; i guess that's a perk of being the warden," he chuckles softly.
you decide to not protest, curling into wriothesley's lap and resting your head on him. it was quite easy to doze off with the combination of his hand against your hair and the lullaby of his heartbeat.

Hi! I really love the way you color, and I was wondering If you could make a tutorial about it, I of course completely understand if you Can't/don't want to do it thanks in advance If you decided to do it and have a good day/night.
Hello hello! Ooooh, a color tutorial! I've never done one before so I'm not sure if I'll be any good at it haha. But I don't mind sharing my thinking process when it comes to coloring my works. So when it comes to color, I very much have a traditional painter's approach since that's how I learned color in art college. My painting professor never allowed us to use black or white paint, we could only use other colors to create darker colors or new colors altogether. And you're probably thinking, "What the hell? That's insane." And I wouldn't blame you haha. But this approach helped me a lot to not rely on tints (colors mixed with white) and shades (colors mixed with black) when I color. For the most part, I purely thinking about value and hues when I'm coloring.
Finding the right values:
Tumblr media
So for this drawing, I did two different takes (one with direct harsh lighting and one without). The reason why I'm showing this is because when it comes to color it's very important that your values aren't clashing with each other. When I started out, all my coloring felt flat because I was using colors with the same values so there was little to no depth. A lot of people don't realize this but color does have value!
Tumblr media
If we put the primary colors on greyscale, you notice how each color has its own value. Blue tends to be a dark value, red has a mid to dark value , and yellow is a much lighter value. This is why if you ever look at my work, the color I use for shadows lean into blue/purple tones. You can also have warm shadows since red does have a deeper value compared to yellow. But these values are when the primary colors are at the highest saturation. What would happen if we knocked down the saturation levels?
Tumblr media
The values start to become more similar. Since we're not always using the most saturated colors, it's important to understand the values behind the colors you'll use. Once you unlock that, you can pretty much do whatever you want with color haha. That's why I hardly ever use black or white in my digital art when mixing (also I don't mix color with a brush, I just pick from the color wheel which might be insane).
While it's not wrong to use white or black to create darker/lighter colors, color in real life doesn't always act that way. Shadows and highlights can have color. For myself, letting go of white and black has opened a world of color combinations that I didn't think of before taking my first ever traditional painting class. Now, I can freely pick colors and experiment with palettes since I've blocked out what values I need (like the image below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if I'm using blending modes like in the next image, I'm always thinking about making clear value separations. If I can't understand the image in black and white, then I'll have a hard time seeing it in color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when you get very comfortable, you can start placing characters in different color environments and match them (which essentially is the job of a color designer in TV animation).
Tumblr media
The right image is the official color palette for my character which already uses a lot of blue/purple for the shadows. But on the left side, she's in a night-time environment so I leaned even more into the cool colors to the point that the white T-shirt is actually a very very light purple/pink color haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or like this example where the left drawing gives a more sunset/golden hour lighting while the right one is more blue hour/night time lighting. But you can read the colors clearly 'cause the values are clear to begin with. While that wasn't really a tutorial this is pretty much my thought process when I'm coloring my digital works. ^^; I very much do follow an academic approach to color theory but even then I think it's okay to break the rules. As long as you have understanding of colors' value, I think you'll be able to unlock any color style you want! I hope that answered your question and was helpful!

Not to toot my own horn or give advice nobody asked for but let's talk about actually building diverse and memorable characters using mine as an example. I have a very big cast of characters on this blog! And I like to think I can maintain that to a degree by making sure everyone brings something unique to the table.
Every single character has a different belly premise, for one. Some work better than others, some characters have failed because the premise wasn't strong enough. But they all have a unique story with unique motives:
Lemon is a surrogate so she can live on the surface
Lorenzo is a surrogate out of rebellion
Claire is a proud expecting mother
Winnie's body was permanently transformed in a life-or-death situation
Takeshi is being punished for some sort of careless wrongdoing
Ife was given magical powers in exchange for carrying the children of a cosmic beast
I could go on! But you get the picture. Another important distinction to make is with characters themselves. No two characters are too similar, giving enough of a distinction that they can be remembered as fully-formed people.
Lorenzo and Takeshi are both slender men with sour dispositions. However, Lorenzo has the confidence of being incredibly young and a genuine love for getting pregnant. Takeshi is much older and more jaded and generally does not enjoy having a belly
Missy and Suyin are both trans women. However, Missy is very stoic and protective and dresses in vibrant colors. Missy is also much more voluptuous and busty. Suyin is sickly thin and pale and dresses almost exclusively in greyscale. Suyin has also never taken any sort of step to medically transition, vs Missy who has to certain degrees.
Claire and Winnie are both short, overweight women with bubbly dispositions. However, Claire is also a business professional and very serious about the domestic life. Winnie is much more reckless and naive.
Again, I could go on. Its not a quick and easy thing to do by any means, but its important to have things that give depth and make characters unique if you're going to have a big cast. Even if it is just a niche, like Lemon being a shark and Zero being an alien. It gets the job done! There does still need to be a little more depth to have an actual character though.
Its also why I tend to really not like crossing over traits. Why involve Lorenzo in magical pregnancy when Sylvain is right there? Why give Suyin huge tits when most of the cast already has that? In my opinion, most of the appeal is how distinct they are. There's someone for everyone, never a one-size-fits-all for porn fodder. If you want more from one character, there's very likely one that can give you what you want if you're willing to branch out and check out the character list. I also can go on another tangent about demanding representation when i have "not enough" of something but that's a separate rant for another day
I'm not even really sure where I was going with this and what my overall point is! But if someone can get some sort of use out of my rambling that'd be neat :)

i once believed love would be black n' white (but it's golden)
five times mun-yeong wished to see colour in her life and once she did (or the one where mun-yeong can only see the colors in 4K resolution when gang-tae is around her, and without him, life is muted)
a fic for kdrama secret santa 2022; for @rabonghee
read it on ao3 here!
im also very sorry this is late. a combination of sickness, travel and family stuff had left me busy last week. i do hope you enjoy, nonetheless, especially @rabonghee
a happy belated christmas and new year to you and your loved ones!
i’ve been sleeping so long in a twenty-year dark night
1. mun yeong’s never had friends before. the boy with the flower at her gate is the first who’s ever come up to approach her and she’s more confused than anything else. everything around her, the world moves so slowly (dreadfully so) in some stupid 20s monochrome film.
it’s all boring and predictable and even at six, mun yeong knows that life’s not supposed to be like this.
in the books she hides from her mother, read secretly under her covers at night with a soft night light, she knows life can be and have so much more meaning and depth and colour to it than whatever her mother says.
for her few years of life, she’s believed her mother’s every word religiously, hanging on to it as if the word of god herself. her mother is? was? her god, but now, the former believer has committed sacrilege.
free thought has never felt more constraining.
the boy is like a fresh wind of indigo in her imposing house of stark greys and blacks. for her, who’s never seen colour, nor the blinding indigo in a rainbow, he’s her gateway drug.
she wants to pull him to her, magnetised by the beautiful blue hues.
---
he leaves, and she finds herself living in greyscale again.
the things that haunt me in the middle of the night
2. ju ri is kind and loud. mun yeong who would like to be an artist, if she had any talent at it, would paint her a loud and vibrant red; something vermillion or crimson, whatever would describe that prick of a paper cut that first stains it. she could be that crimson, that fresh blood, and she probably is. mun yeong’s eyes are aching and tired, and it filters the world around her, blunting all its edges.
ju ri is fun, but even she, in the predictability of seongjin city and its coastline, remains predictable. in a world of rectangles and squares, both she and mun yeong are the same; she’s loud in her fury where mun yeong is cold and quiet, that is the only difference.
the daughters of seongjin are all born angry, it seems.
that boy, mun yeong wonders, is probably a circle. she’s attracted to all those unlike her: that butterfly for one. does fury run in his blood? she wonders. is he a child of seongjin like her? or is a desperate wanderer, a nomad with no grounds to put down, a home that moves around with their people, like her?
does he want to find a home? or has he found it?
even years later, her mind still wanders to the boy who sharpened her edges to show her the most blinding of colors. something blinding in a gradient of darkness, does he pull others into him like he did for her?
is he a star to guide her or a blackhole waiting to devour her?
---
when she kisses ju ri, she wants to see another dazzling color.
she’s disappointed and leaves.
(it’s what she’s good at, after all. leaving just when the relationship was going to inevitably end; it’s called self-preservation, she has to save herself first before the momentum becomes too much and crashes)
luck of the draw only draws the unlucky
3.
her college boyfriend thinks he’s won. she’s amongst the prettiest women on campus and she knows it: she’s his prize. among the many toys he takes, she’s his one and only trophy. all golden and gilded and glittery surface, hollow and black inside. he plays with her like a toddler with a precious toy; careless and sometimes it hurts.
but she’s used to falling and bumping and bending. trophies don’t break anyway, he can’t break her because he can’t fix her. or replace her.
all bark and bite, that’s how he likes her. says it makes the sex more fun, and she wants to jeer in his face. her contrarian nature is good for him as long as he wants to roleplay, and beyond it, she’s just a bitch.
(of course she knows of the things he says of her behind her back to his friends. he’s an average steady fuck, so she doesn’t want to quite let go yet.)
when she kisses him, she likes to pretend he’s that boy standing at her gates with a flower. she admires the great bit of courage that boy had picked up to come to her haunted house of a home in all his childish innocence and fears. oppa isn’t brave like him. no, like all good women before she had to bait him and reel him in.
college dating teaches many a great deal about fishing. she would be a pro at it, if she could tolerate amputating and gutting that worm (it feels too alive and her breath catches in anxiety). it’s taught her patience (she barely has some; waiting is for the strong and brave of heart, and she’s far too cowardly to face daunting time).
she doesn’t want to. she tries not to. but inevitably, unfortunately, she tires of oppa sooner than he tires of her. it’s easier to let men leave her, and pretend as if they’ve walked away with breaking her heart (it does things for their ego, and later at night, when they sleep with another, the guilt makes for excellent sex).
she could scoff. none of her suitors have broken her heart---they’d have to own it in the first place. you can’t break what’s not your own.
she walks away from the flames and burning embers, as oppa rapidly tries to fan them in vain. she’s not coming back.
it’s a shame she really did like him.
---
she kisses him once again at a party before he graduates. it’s just before he gets piss drunk, and a test for her to see whether any of the remnants of feelings remain.
her heart feels as heavy as steel and yet she’s hollow through and through. within her, her heart is as dense as it is empty, something paradox.
there are so many lines i’ve crossed unforgiven
4. becoming a children’s fiction writer, it’s something she couldn’t even have fathomed in her dreams. she doesn’t think her fiction is for children, even now. it’s based off her own childhood for starters, and that’s appropriate for no child ever. perhaps it is the fantastical elements, the downright grimm-brothers-and-hans-christian-anderson tale that has been her life. like attracts the like, and she’s always thought of life as something a little mystical, unreal even.
something like a long dream she longs to wake up from.
if everyone that was in her life could see her now. they’d laugh. ko mun yeong? a children’s book author? you must be joking. she hates children.
they’d be right too. she hates children---freud says daughters are a reflection of mother. she’d always thought that lunatic had some truth to his words despite his delusional works most of the times. she is her mother, and all she remembers from that woman is coldness and detachment and her child-like nature to constantly want to please the unhappy, un-pleasable woman.
(if children got close to her, maybe they’d realize the same and she’d break them. she keeps away for them and herself).
---
she thinks of that boy at her gates. was he as naive and innocent as her? as the other children? would she have broken him then or now?
she’d hate herself more than she does now, more than she can fathom if she had broken him. she’s fine with everyone in the world hating her, but that small part of her traitorous ten-year-old heart still doesn’t want him to ever hate her. not with how much she likes him. still.
---
“was the witch lonely?” a little girl asks her once. her newest book is out, something about the tale of a witch who gobbled children up who came to her door. a little boy spots her eating a child once, her favorite little boy, and he stops at her gates before running away.
the witch never sees him again.
she blinks, and little pinpricks of tears are at the back of her eyes. she wills them not to fall because she’s helen and if she cries, troy will fall. she’s self-sacrificing.
“no, she was bad. a bad bad person. bad people don’t get lonely. they get their come-uppance and have to live with the guilt of their actions, the weight of it, and the people that leave them.”
she answers it all in one short breath, before smiling and walking away.
---
“people aren’t always bad. they can change.”
not her.
clearing the air, i breathed the smoke
5.
her life has been on auto-pilot. after a certain level of fame, it all started getting a bit too monotonous for her. when the only constant in your life, your only friend is your goddamn publisher, you know it’s getting a little sad.
she has more than she knows how to spend, and this job is more of a hobby, playing adult, than doing something for actual money.
life’s too boring, and she aches for just something different. it’s times like this when she thinks of the boy. how unexpectedly delightful he was. a breath of fresh wind in her cooped-up house, something new, something unexpected.
maybe she just misses him. after all, it’s been twenty years now since she saw him last.
the boy...if she could have one wish, one last wish and demand and plea in her life, she’d like to him see him again maybe.
get entranced. transfixed. enchanted again.
(maybe this what people call burnout? boredom? is this what weber meant when he talked about the bureaucracy and disenchantment with life?)
---
sang in suggests she do charity, philantrophy. some of that corporate csr bullshit she’s not on, but he clearly babbles about day and night.
something about building her image.
as if good deeds now will redeem her and save her now. she’s far too gone to be recovered. it’s the gates of hell for her only.
it’s golden like daylight
and once,
1. spring brings back her love to her. they say love is like the tide of the four seasons, it fades in the cold of winter, but as the warmth of spring blooms in, love returns.
she’s had a very long winter.
twenty some odd years, and the hazy bright golden sun and the pink cherry blossoms around her in a beautiful lovely spring of romance feels dizzying.
that gust of cold northern winds she’d felt from the boy’s arrival years ago, once again bursts in her chest. oxygen fills her lungs, and perhaps she just hasn’t breathed before as well as she does now. greedy little breaths of cold air, and she doesn’t want to return to that recycled, stuffy air.
they say three times is fate.
once, the first. she sees him in spring, walking up to her. pink petals around them. she drops cigarette ash in his cup.
twice, next. she raises a knife, a hand. he catches it, and it, his grasp, his fist tightens. blood flowing. red, red, red. the pink darkens.
it falls onto her hands, her sinner hands, her tight fists. and the mongolian blue mark stains red. (she’s always marked by violence.)
thrice. it’s fate. she’s almost in love. a little bit more and she’ll be there. heart palpitations, sweaty palms, flushed cheeks, and her aching wet cunt. what is love without lust? she hasn’t felt like this before.
(if the boy was here, she’d think he would be just like moon gang tae. moon gang tae. moon gang tae. even the taste of his name on her mouth tastes heady. she feels light-headed and drunk off just this. would she die at the taste of him then?)
they meet in seongjin city. and she knows it’s her boy. that boy. the boy that remains at the gates of her house and her heart.
---
later, months later. when she finally kisses him, she can taste the freezing north wind boreas in her mouth.
it’s burning like the heat of the golden sun.

My DC Cinematic Universe: Superman (Part III)
Tumblr media
Chapter Three: American Gothic
We're gonna start this one by breaking into my idea for my movie, set to introduce a new Superman to a DC Cinematic Universe of my making. James Gunn, who's currently writing his Superman film, has been saying pretty ardently that this won't be an origin movie. And that's wise, in my opinion. We've had two Superman origin films, so why have a third in the docket. I think some of that should apply to the other members of the Trinity (Batman and Wonder Woman), but let's not get to far ahead of ourselves. In fact, I'll just say this: the origin story extent within the Trinity is gonna be on a three-part spectrum. Batman won't get any origin story stuff at all, Wonder Woman will get a LOT of origin story stuff (because I'll be changing some things significantly, compared to the Jenkins film), and Superman...well, he's in the middle. But OK, enough preamble; here's how this is kicking off.
Our film is going to take place mostly in Metropolis, from the jump. Because of that, there won't be much or any of the Kent Farm outside of brief scenes. In fact, the first time we see our Kents will be when they come to visit Clark in his Metropolis apartment. He'll have gotten a fairly new apartment, due to an improved status and salary at the Daily Planet, and that'll be an excuse for the Kents to visit their son (whom they're constantly worried about). I'll talk about what happens to the Kents over the course of this theoretical film as we go along, but just know for now that we'll be seeing them interact with Clark for the first time in Metropolis, not Smallville.
Since we're meeting the Kents now, let's talk about them right quick, one at a time, starting with...
Tumblr media
Jonathan Kent: Farmer Until (Inevitable) Death
The Kents go WAY back to the Civil War, and are some of the first settlers of Kansas, according pervious DC Comics lore. Having settled the Smallville farm at least 100 years ago, they're the very definition of the American farmer. Because of this, Jonathan Kent is a dedicated farm-man, and has all the trappings of such. A traditionalist in some ways, and progressive in others, Jonathan believes in truth, justice, and the American way whole-heartedly, and his moral compass is a major influence on Clark's moral compass as an adult. It's pretty safe to say that ever Jonathan Kent is a hero to his adopted son, and I understand why. He was a good and loving father, who only wanted the best for his son, while also being aware that his son was meant for greater things.
But that said...Jonathan's characterization has danced around those points pretty considerably. In my opinion, the core tenets of Jonathan Kent are as follows:
He will do anything for his wife. Jonathan and Martha are one of the most loving and enduring couples in comic books, and their relationship is what Clark (and most other people) see as the ideal middle-aged/elderly couple. Jonathan takes his wedding vows as seriously as his life, and his love for his wife is still deeper than the ocean depths. It's sweet.
He will do anything for his son. Jonathan would be proud of Clark no matter what he did, but the fact that his son is a successful reporter and Superman makes him the proudest father that's ever lived. Only the fear of ruining his son's and Martha's life prevents him from shouting his son's secret from the mountaintops, just so the universe can love his son as much as he does. Oh, and one more thing: Clark is his son. Period.
His moral compass is as lawful good as you can get. You know how I said Clark would and should be aware that morality is in greyscale? Yeah, Jonathan believes in black-and-white, right vs. wrong, full stop. His moral compass is as monochromatic as it gets. Maybe that's him being old-fashioned; maybe it's him being isolated from larger populations...who knows? But to Jonathan Kent, right is right, and wrong is wrong. Period.
He has pretty severe heart problems. ...You'll see.
Tumblr media
While I'd love to go into Jonathan's interesting comic book history, I'll save it for myself. However, if you're curious, my favorite Jonathan Kent story takes place mostly in Adventures of Superman #500 (1993), which happens in the fallout of The Death of Superman story, as well as being the first issue of the Reign of the Supermen story. It's also one of the few comics I physically own, and I treasure the SHIT out of it for various reasons. Anyway, check it out if you're curious! However, the first time you Jonathan in that issue, it hints as a recurring theme of his...and I'll get to that.
OK, so, Jonathan Kent adaptations real quick! Technically, Jonathan first appeared in Superman: The Movie, played by Golden Age superstar Glenn Ford. While he wasn't in the film for very long, the main thing he's remembered for is giving Clark advice about his role on Earth...and then dying of a massive heart attack immediately after that. This prompts a young Clark, eventually, into becoming the hero his dad dreamed he could be.
After this version of the character, DC rebooted its continuity in Crisis on Infinite Earths, bringing the Kents back to life in the universe's present day. Oh, uh...did I forget to mention that the Kents are fucking dead in the original comics? Yeah, we only met them in Superboy comics, which is...another story entirely. Anyway, after this, the Kent also appeared in media again. They were in Superboy and Lois and Clark, but the most famous incarnation of Jonathan Kent came in Smallville.
Tumblr media
John Schneider's Jonathan Kent, to me and many, is THE Jonathan Kent. Still the family-oriented farmer, this Jonathan Kent comes with a few less years, a grudge against the Luthor family, and a massive anger issue. Still the supportive father, and still proud of Clark no matter what, he was a little more soap-opera-y than most versions, since...well, that's what Smallville was, to be honest. Financial issues, marital problems, etc. But still, he was a great father and a good man. So dedicated to his family was he, that he went to save his son from himself while Clark was being taken over by a supplanted Kryptonian version of himself (fucking...FUCKING DO NOT ASK), and made a deal with Jor-El in the process. This deal granted him power equivalent to Clark, because Smallville doesn't make sense. And in the process...it gave him heart problems. Time travel forward to episode 100 of the series and...yeah, Jonathan dies of a heart attack.
Seeing the pattern? Well, we haven't gotten to the dumbest example.
Tumblr media
...Fuck you Man of Steel. This stupid-ass movies ruins Jonathan Kent. Played by a piece of cardboard given sentience by the Blue Fairy by accident, AKA Kevin Costner, This version of Jonathan wants to protect his son by sheltering him until the time is juuuuuuuust right for him to come out, like a fucking souffle. A Souperflee, if you goddamn will. Because of this, there is a point in this film when, while talking to his young son, he argues that maybe, just maybe, Clark should've let a SCHOOLBUS FULL OF CHILDREN DROWN, just to keep his secret. Yeah, Jonathan would NEVER suggest that. Absolutely not. And then, to top it all off, the man stops his son from saving him from a FUCKING TORNADO, and dies in a manner so unintentionally funny, it has a Know Your Meme page about it. #stopmyinvincibleson.
Tumblr media
Well. In summary, Jonathan Kent is a farming man with strong morals and an intense devotion to family. And he always dies, or at the very least, almost dies. More of that later. For now, that's basically the summary. Now, let's talk about Mom.
Tumblr media
Martha Kent: More Than a Farmer's Wife
Ever since Crisis on Infinite Earths, Martha Kent has been a part of Clark's life in the past and present. Like Jonathan, she loves her son and her husband endlessly. However, where Jonathan's morality is unbent by the world around her, Martha is traditionally a bit more practical. She's the grounding presence and the heart of the Kent household, as well as pretty much being the traditional stay-at-home mother character. Her core character traits, to me, are as follows:
Martha is a caring mother and wife. 'Nuff said.
...Shit. That actually might be it.
Yeah, unfortunately, Martha both does and doesn't get a lot of attention in the comics. I guess I could just say that Martha is compassionate and caring, for anybody who needs her help. She's taken in most people positively affiliated with the Superman mythos, especially Superboy (Conner Kent) and Krypto the Superdog, for starters. Other than that, though, you can play around with Martha a bit. And that's what the various adaptations have done with her.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, even though Martha's appeared in Superman: The Movie (played by Phyllis Thaxter), and Lois and Clark (played by K Callan), Martha hadn't had a lot of import in the mythos, outside of usually being the person who made Clark's iconic Superman suit. But then, Smallville came along with Annette O'Toole in the role, and this made the character WAY more dynamic. Now from high society Metropolis originally, she became a college-educated working mom, who started the series by managing the financial details of the farm. By the time the series ended, a widowed Martha Kent had been a United States Senator, a leading member of the covert-ops government agency Checkmate, and had remarried Perry White! Martha Kent is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated characters Smallville ever produced. And even though she was able to do ALL of those things, she never dipped into Mary Sue territory. She was just always...honestly, she was just always a good mom.

And honestly, so is MAARTHAAAA...sorry, Diane Lane as the character in the Snyderverse films. Infamous in name specifically, Martha "WHYDIDYOUSAYTHATNAME" Kent remained on the farm, and is an independent woman who loves her son, while recognizing his importance. Not entirely my Martha Kent, but definitely not a bad version of the character. Better than Jonathan, anyway.
With all of that said, Martha is sort-of an open book as these characters go. My version will be the caring mom who grounds Jonathan and Clark in reality, while allowing and inspiring them to reach for the stars. Also, she'll be involved in town matters, taking the politics angle from Smallville a bit more proactively.
And now, with THAT said...
Tumblr media
My Jonathan and Martha Kent
As I said before, in my theoretical film, the Kents won't interact physically with Clark until they get to Metropolis. We'll see the farm itself, possibly while Clark and the Kents are on the phone with each other, talking about their upcoming visit, but the Kents will visit Clark in his new apartment, both alive and well. They'll also serve as a part of Clark's personal journey of discovery in this film, because they represent his earthly origins. See, we'll find out early on that while Clark does know a bit about Krypton and his origins, he's almost entirely in the dark about much of his past. There's no Fortress of Solitude, no communication from the dead, not even the names of his parents. So, a visit from the only parents he knows is welcomed.
But then, while the Kents are in Metropolis, the main villains of the piece strike. These villains, whose names will remain unsaid until later posts, have a weapon that SUperman has never seen before: Kryptonite. And yes, I know that Kryptonite has its own over-usage, but we'll get to that later. But Kryptonite, in this case, is meant to be a symbol of a piece of home that Clark doesn't know about or understand. Somebody else understands it, and has armed out villains with it. After a big climactic fight, Clark's going to be in recovery, cared for by his parents. While in recovery, Martha will give Clark an early homecoming present. They'd found it in his old room recently, and had forgotten about it. Said item is a crystal-laden necklace, which was the only thing he had on him as an infant in the ship. And when the now-adult and injured Clark makes contact with it, the device activates and creates an electronic pulse that rattles the apartment and shuts down all electronics. And detecting a comatose Clark, it also beams a message into his own mind.
And with that...it's time to talk about Krypton. Hoo boy.

I want to be reincarnated as a ladybug in my next life.
Everything is a futile distraction once you get to the root of your life's fundamental issue. I think I've always been a user; I use people, and at the root, they are what is the biggest addiction of them all. I don't fall in love, and I used to think that the feeling was so easy to come by, but after closer inspection, I've barely felt it at all. I'm young, I know that, but this is all I know so far, so my issues feel more extravagant now than maybe in a few years. And if I die now, they'll stay this big. I wish the future were ensured; perhaps it'd be easier not to live with such haste and fear. I feel like I stand out of the crowd (my generation), knowing that my life is short and time will continue with or without me. Regardless of what you may or may not do. Success and happiness are defined by you alone. Life is meaningless, so therefore, you define it, but on the flip side, you can just kill yourself with no regret. I feel like an older woman with this thought process, and I know I'll fall in love once I meet my mirror self. I'd feel less alone because I can speak freely of these ever-consuming thoughts. God, everyone feels so stupid, but what is common sense to them isn't mine. Well, not immediately. Like pouring hot oil down a plastic pipe will only later register to me as bad, but substantial philosophical theories make perfect sense. How could you not see the world in greyscale and as so complicated? How could a God ever exist to you? You're delusional. Not that I don't respect it; I'm jealous of your ignorance and of your peace. Maybe I feel this smart because no one can seem to engage with me in the way I so deeply desire. I need to be enthralled and entertained by someone's mind. When I imagine it, I feel nostalgic for something that has yet to happen or may never happen. Like I've lived it, it's been long buried within my sea of memories, but my heart faintly calls its name. Everyone is so superficial, but can they even help it? Our society thrives upon stupidity, and it's worse once you're aware because there's nothing you can do alone. The most competent people are pessimists; that's why ignorance is pure bliss. What you don't know can't hurt you, can it? All my affection for people feels like a temporary cure for the lack of mental stability I have, a distraction by entering their mind for a change within a conversation or conversing over our days just to try to convince myself I give a fuck about my day-to-day. That this is enough. It's never been enough, so I'll continue to dull down my intelligence til this suffices until I no longer desire depth and heart-binding conversations.

BSD spring '23 season liveblog
The most annoying thing is in some places eps 38-50 are season 3 and are season 4 in others
Ep1 has phenomenal use of color where its greyscale and basically monotone except for a few details, but its done so well that there’s depth and contrast with the grey on grey. The full color showing up from Ranpo’s PoV then is a shock and drives home the different viewpoint. Even the fight choreography of Oda vs Fukuzawa comes across clearly and better done than most full color fights in other shows
Living for this Ranpo serious character focus. The glasses transition as the world shifts into color. I’ve said it once but its so fucking good
Fukuzawa being featured in the flashback arc makes me appreciate him so much more, like I hadn’t paid him as much attention as other secondary characters because he got so little spotlight and seemed to have his shit together
Oh shit, there’s Fyodor Dostoevsky! I was expecting the Port Mafia but not him
What the name of the music that plays post credits ep 3
Thrilled by Poe getting to star in a 2 episode plot, his focus episode was one of the things that made the Guild arc my favorite current day arc
Lmfao Poe being filthy rich and Ranpo having such a bad reaction was hilarious
The mysteries in the show are such fun
Tripping out on Poe’s ability synth wave room 10 hours
Lmao what did Rampo expect, that Mushitaro wouldn’t immediately be killed?
Nikolai’s psycho showman killer routine is super annoying and the episode isn’t even halfway
Love to see the trap build up very obviously with viewer knowledge
Great dark with red color pallets with ep7
Damn the hunting dogs get a cool music intro (they get it twice!)
From the word criminal i expected the Port Mafia to show up, but damn Chuuya has a great entrance
Kunikida is really going through it ever since the tunnels, i love when good writing stresses a character’s ideals hard, so this plotline where things build and build and build has been great.
Kunikida made what looks like a sacrifice play, time to stay up to watch this. He has such plot armor that I can’t believe he’s dead.
Really enjoying how many other characters than Danzai and Atsushi get to be in the spotlight this season
Soon as I say that Danzai shows up as a plot twist. His intelligence is very much a plot device, which is why (IMO) fandom Danzai fic falls flat a lot of the time where its “he would not fucking say that/he’s not this much a woobie and is smarter than this”
I've been playing a drinking game for the number of anime eyeglass flashes this season
Yosano gets a PoV episode, and peak example of how this shows can explore darker themes even with a healing ability, and also nail the emotional impact with the camera pan on the medallion and suicide note
Into my drinking game and I’m really noticing and appreciating the little bursts of music for 10-30 seconds
Hmm Hirotsu is the 2nd character where it seems the hunting dogs have got a kill but body isn’t shown to the viewer
Was not expecting Tachihara to be the last Hunting Dogs member. I better rewatch earlier seasons
Glad Mushitaro is alive, he’s a fun character haunted by the death of his best friend
Ango is getting some fun reveals this episode
Wtf is this sky casino, this helicarrier looking thing
“Most terrifying thing is a mediocre man who’s desperate”. Unfortunately true
I thought it was obvious that Sigma and Sky Casino came from the Book, but they’re making sure to spell it out
Wow the Hunting Dogs have to go through fucked up surgeries every month or they’ll die horribly. It explains so much. (Wish I could find more fanworks that are this quality of “the limits these characters will go for their objective” and less shallow fluff)
The good outro music is back again in ep 13
Cliffhanger nooo! This ranks as new best season of BSD really enjoyed the amount of angst this season.
Once again I wish this fandom would stop spam tagging things especially when I want to find secondary character focused works.

2022 Art Summary!!! I'm extremely proud of both how much I've made and how much I've improved this year :D and because I love talking about my work I wanna go through each month under the cut because I didn't put some things on here but I feel they're important
JANUARY
Tumblr media
After two years of it being the same picture, I decided to start the year update my twitter pfp, and I think I'll keep up the tradition this year, because not only has my art style evolved, I'm now over 4 months on T so I want to reflect that. Other than this piece I started work on another late in the month, but wouldn't finish until February.
FEBRUARY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's the big piece. Based on my own fanfiction would your heart know, I had been wanting to draw this scene for a long time. Ahri and Kai'Sa's Runeterra designs take forever to draw and I spent ages on Kai'Sa's expression. Fun fact, for the background, I painted over a Breath of the Wild screenshot for reference, and Link is crouching behind Kai'Sa if you turn her layers off. I like this piece still, and I'm glad I made it, but I like the other piece from this month more. I love drawing characters from games I don't play! I love Yae Miko's design and love making myself suffer with small details, so this happened. I can't remember the exact number but each piece of jewelry is an absurd amount of layers. This piece helped me improve both my hair and metal rendering, plus I just love the colors. ALSO: published the first chapter of my Kahri Proposal fic, the stars align for you and i!
MARCH
Tumblr media
One piece this month, as this time of year is always the worst, both mental health wise and school-wise. Still, I wanted to make art for Kai'Sa's birthday on the 7th. To be honest I don't really like this piece that much, I could sit here and nitpick it but no one wants to read that. People on Twitter liked it though!
APRIL
Tumblr media
I don't think I was as miserable in April but I didn't draw / finish anything (I definitely did stuff for my art classes, but nothing fanart related + I was still writing fic at the time) until the 24th. I did this in one night after the "Hollow Mind" episode of The Owl House. A fantastic episode from a fantastic show. This piece gave me the confidence that I could make simpler yet still really good pieces in less time.
MAY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Evidently, I was much happier in May. Kujou Sara was another "I just think they're neat" piece that turned into me teaching myself how to render hair and skin way better, and about gradient maps. I did the whole piece (minus the mask) in greyscale and then basically just fucked around. I'm still really happy with how it looks. Then I finally drew a kiss I liked. This is another piece I could now sit here and nitpick but generally I still like it, especially the hand. THEN THE RELEASE OF BEL'VETH RUINED MY LIFE. The color story Pinwheel WRECKED me. I drew the "You, and your father" piece the same day it came out. Not only did this teach me more about expressions and ESPECIALLY environment lighting, the author of the story liked it on Twitter!!!! I was already obsessed, but Pinwheel threw me into the depths of brainrot regarding Kassadin and his family (Kassfam). Due to a distinct lack of canon material, I have a boat load of headcanons that I won't get into here, but the family portrait is set in K/DA-verse when Kai'Sa is two years old, not long before her mother dies. TL;DR the Void won't leave this family alone and I'm obsessed with them. Then, a piece that was in my head for a really long time, I couldn't stop thinking about how Kai'Sa was only ten years old in Runeterra when she falls into the Void. I adore this piece, wish it got more attention on Twitter but oh well haha ALSO: published the second chapter of the stars align for you and i!
JUNE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My birthday month!!! The first piece was a gift to myself, and I love it so so so so much. It's so cute. I love them. I'm so proud of how Kai'Sa's second skin looks and both of their expressions. This piece was also my first steps into getting better and rendering Ahri's tail + hair. I love it. It's one of my favorites from the year. Then Star Guardian 2022 started!!! I finished this piece the day after SG Kai'Sa's voicelines dropped, and because I'm a firm believer in Kahri being soulmates, I went wild over this line. I really love how Ahri looks, she's so cute. This piece taught me how to cope with my ship being so, extremely not canon LMAOO
JULY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More Star Guardian!!! The big Kahri piece is approximately one billion layers (200+) and took five years off my life. I'm very VERY proud of it, but I'm never drawing full body pieces of those designs again. KAI'SA MENTIONING HER MOTHER IN ANOTHER SKY WAS FOR ME PERSONALLY. I'm the only person obsessed with her. I love this piece it's so cute. I hope one day DeadWife gets a canon design but for now I love her like this. And then a big smooch!!! This started as a sketch I was doing bc I was miserable + found a good reference and then it turned into my most popular piece of the year, and I adore it. Definitely a step forward in regards to rendering Ahri's hair and showing motion + emotion.
AUGUST
Tumblr media
Just one piece because I was busy, but good practice. I love Sarah Fortune and wanted to make her Star Guardian version look more like how she does in Runeterra. Love her expression and nose shape especially. ALSO: published the first chapter of my copium Star Guardian Kahri fic, be the light to carry me!
SEPTEMBER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simple pieces I knocked out in one day each. The Runeterra kiss is my favorite, I want to say it's the best rendering I did all year. Admittedly I don't have much to say about the Star Guardian piece. Could have been better but it's good! Twitter loved both of these :)
OCTOBER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've always wanted to draw Seraphine because I love her, then her Legends of Runeterra design came out and I knew it was time. I LOVE her hair. I love Seraphine. She's my bestie. Then my favorite piece of the year!! No reference, just brainrot. They're so cute. They love each other so much. They're married. I adore them. That's all. And next I wanted to practice gradient maps again, so I did this one night and am so, so proud of it. Another contender for favorite piece of the year. Kai'Sa is such a tragic character and I feel like this really shows just how sad she is. I love her. ALSO: published the second chapter of be the light to carry me!
NOVEMBER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course I made an Ahri companion piece. Same deal, done in greyscale then I messed around with a gradient map. I especially love the background here. Can you tell I love Runeterra Kahri. I wanted to update my Twitter banner because it was an old piece, and so this happened. Again, their designs are so much, but the effort is always worth it. Notably this piece taught me more about environment lighting. I just love how they're holding each other. Noticed after this I've been coloring Ahri's shoulder armor wrong, but oh well. I love this so much.
DECEMBER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here we are at the end of the year!!! Ahri's birthday means she gets art, and I love all the photos she has in an album in that official Spotify playlist cover art, and always wanted to make something involving that. This piece started off with a different sketch but I didn't like how static it felt, this is much much better. Super proud of the expressions here. I tried to get the handwriting at the bottom as similar to Ahri's canon handwriting (it's in a photo Seraphine posted), and writing out Kai'Sa's name in her handwriting made me stupid emotional. Lastly, for the past two years of brainrot, I've drawn a piece of Kahri in some winter scene, and WOW is this an improvement since last year. I also finally figured out how to do drapery in my style, I think. I literally finished this piece today, and I adore it. I just love this ship so so much and I'm not sorry.
IN CONCLUSION:
I made a lot of art and got much better at it!! I mostly wrote all of this for me, but if you read all of it, thank you so much! This was also the year I joined tumblr because my home base Twitter is. yeah. but I had wanted to make an account for a long time and have lurked for even longer. Glad to be here and glad that you are too!! Happy New Year!!! May you all have a good 2023 :D

Thoughts on ‘A Ghost Waits’
Tumblr media
Watched this for the third time in I think less than a year this past month. Since the first time I watched it, I've loved this movie.
The best way I can describe it maybe is that it's like "A major ghost movie directed by a Mumblecore / Dogme '95 team". With a haunted house story seemingly stripped down to the core. This is definitely helped by the decision to use a greyscale to create a black and white
'A Yellow Cotton Dress' by Wussy is a song introduced in the early goings as a soundtrack for Jack as he works on the empty haunted household, an indie rock piece probably reminiscent of many favourite songs. But its second utilisation is evocative of the entire movie, in that Jack plays a stripped down version on an acoustic guitar, giving new context to the song. Jack plays the song in a moment that coincides with Muriel the Ghost's first seeing of him, and unlike many first moments built on tension, this moment is built on a gentleness, Muriel almost inconsequential as just like the audience, she sees the depth within this individual first.
The song to me is talking about a house, a partner, a life, that until given true meaning is empty and devoid of life. A dress is pretty until you see a loved one wear it, and it becomes something actually worthwhile to you. A building isn't a home until you live in it, a partner is an idea until they become a reality, a life is worthless unless you have something to live for.
Jack is a blue-collar handyman who is wandering through life with little connections fixing houses, Muriel is a ghost (sorry, 'spectral agent') haunting a house stuck in a bureaucratical afterlife ala 'Beetlejuice' who has nothing beyond her role. They exist but are not alive, an empty cotton dress on the side with the nobody to fill it. Whilst not subtle in terms of Muriel's attempt to scare Jack off, the surprising aspect of Jack's awareness of his own faults and fears off-kilts the attempts to scare him. "Yeah, I'm a failure, you're right...so what should I do about it?"
MacLeod Andrews has a genial everyman quality that allows his transition between non-believer and believer to feel quick but believable, the sort of person who is open minded and comes to terms with the evidence displayed to him. Natalie Walker has this air of humanity to a spectral element, in that she also has a job to do and the ever growing frustration and bewilderment at its lack of success. The haunted who is more curious than afraid, and the haunter fuelled by KPIs and quotas than incessant rage and hated.
The minimal setting and setpieces actually works as a strength, being a physical representation of the placement both characters are in, while allowing the focus of the story to be on its characters and their relationship rather than special effects, jump scares or horrors. It's a non-horror examining the lives of two people defined by the simple drive of "I have a job to do", Jack to fix the house, Muriel to rid the house.
There is a fascinating comparison between the weariness of Jack / Muriel and the inclusion of Sydney Vollmer's Rosie, a more modern 'spectral agent' thrown in to force Jack out of the house at Muriel's expense. What in any other film would be a generic antagonist to be defeated, instead it reinforces the concept of being defined by a role attributed to you and the pressures of achieving the work given to you. By Jack and Muriel briefly venturing outside the lines of their set roles, finding a connection, it threatens those who have become defined by their roles, reinforcing the fears and loneliness of those involved. The biggest fear is maybe not loneliness, it's becoming aware of what is wrong and what is missing?
The most surprising element is not that the two begin to fall for each other, but the shockingly moving montage in the final act, as Jack's unquestionable loneliness culminates in the decision to join Muriel in the afterlife. He's found somebody he wants to be with, but she can't allow a human to stay within the house, so the compromise is to kill himself and they haunt the house together. They've both found a connection, he is no longer alone and drifting through an uncaring life, and she has a reason to enjoy being in her home.
Adam Stovall has directed and co-written (with MacLeod) a surprisingly rich piece of film that could succeed transitioning to stage, or be expanded upon into a miniseries (there are several aspects of the third act that could have been expanded upon in more detail). It's refreshingly emotional and impactful, culminating into a gorgeous rendition of 'Years Go By' by The Bengsons, a beautiful song reminiscing of a moment that could last a second or a lifetime.
I love this film, it simultaneously feels full of subtext and yet barely scratching the surface of its possibilities. Its rich beyond its surface but full of potential. But more than anything? It hits you when you least expect it and finds the light within the darkness. Like Jack, Muriel, and even Rosie, this film offers something you need. A connection.

Illustration and Animation practice Week 1: Line drawing
For our first week of Illustration and animation practice, we were told that we would be drawing from life, and understanding the most basic form of illustration: line drawing. This essentially means to only draw the figure/subject chosen as an outline. No intentional perspective, no tone or depth, and no colour. Our materials were limited to tools that could create a solid greyscale line, including ink pens, soft/hard graphite pencils, charcoal, fine liners etc. We were taken outside into a shopping street within Cambridge with many people, and were given the time we had to draw people around us. We were asked to draw 3 double A4 spreads filled with figures, either stationary or in movement, and 1 double A4 spread of an entire landscape we saw, including figures. What I liked: My absolute favourite part of drawing figures is the posing. I love drawing movement, fluidity, and portraying the interesting ways the human body can contort. Drawing people walking or sitting came relatively easily to me, and I found it very fun having a direct reference in front of me, as it was the most organic pose possible; the people I drew weren't posing for a picture or trying to look a certain way, meaning I could capture the most natural movement possible, far more realistic than any reference on the internet. I also enjoyed the time pressure that came with life drawing. I'm very much a perfectionist when it comes to work I create, which makes me do draw things more slowly/start over more. Another downside is that this perfectionism makes my drawings more stiff. Having the ability to focus on each individual part of a reference when creating a piece has two outcomes for me: either I focus too much on single parts of a picture, which then do not fit together as a larger piece, or I create a simple copy of my reference, which is a sign of a lack of creativity and ruins the point of referencing to me. During observational drawing, the subject always moves, or has the ability to move. There is no time to spend trying to focus on little details, so I was forced to just put my tool to the paper and draw what I saw quickly and get as much detail as I could while I still saw my subject. This was painful to do at first, but I gradually started letting go of my perfectionism as time went on and was able to care less about how detailed/accurate my drawings were.
What I found hard: trying to portray different body/face shapes in the time I had to draw was very difficult. During a critique, I was told that several of my figures, despite being completely different people, looked near identical. I had a hard time pushing proportions more, and was more focused on the pose a person was making than how they looked. Heavier people looked too thin, and thin people looked more mid-size. Eventually, many of my sketches looked to be the same shape, something I still need to work on in terms of life drawing and my personal art. A piece of critique that stuck with me was that I was using too much of a style with my sketches. I used sharp lines and far too simplified facial features, which didn't help with the lack of distinction between my subjects. It was very difficult to forget about the anatomy I use in my personal art, and instead only draw what I saw in front of me. I partially remedied this by spending more time on fluid lines and more accurate body shapes, but avoided facial details, meaning this is something I still need to work on. Finally, I found it very difficult to use different materials. This is not to say that I didn't use anything different at all, but my range of materials were limited in size and texture. I used mainly fine liners and pencils, with a few figures in a thick paint marker. I mentioned before that I had issues with perfectionism. This was especially prevalent when I tried to use different materials. I couldn't handle having less control over my brush strokes, like with a dip pen or a brush marker. This made me stick to tools with a very consistent line weight, which made my pieces have less visual interest and less texture. In the future, I'll try to gradually use materials with added line weight, so I can learn to use them with more control and be able to add more texture to my art.

Detective Raymond Carter - Mekhet I did this for my fiance because I wasn’t happy with my first go of his character. I also did this in greyscale and added colour on it because I wanted to try it again. I am still not sure about the technique (or my lack of to be honest)

Leo my love...
I do distinctly remember you, back in the day, answering some asks about if the RO's appearance will change too during the series, with your answer being yes.
My question is if this plan has changed ? Hopefully not.
And if not, would you be willing to share with us what kind of changes you have planned for our dear RO's ?
Oh yeah, that hasn't changed haha, depending on the path the ROs will change appearance, powers, and in some cases shift personality a little. I have plans to execute a time skip of sorts, where you'll be reintroduced to the ROs as their evolutions.
For the sake of spoilers, I won't really go too in-depth on my plans for everything, but I can talk a bit about the general design concept of each ROs path that I want to take with them since it's probably a long way until that point anyway haha.
----------------
Good Influence E: They remain relatively unchanged, doubling down on their more heroic nature to protect people. Their power focuses on speed, so their hairstyle becomes more windswept in the process. Wears casual top and shorts.
Bad Influence E: They're much more jaded and wear a greyscale zip-up hoodie and jeans (stubble if they're male). They focus on the destructive nature of their power to rid the world of evil. Unlike their counterpart, they mostly walk and aren't in a big hurry, casually deleting whoever gets in their way.
-----------------
Rebellion R: They have a robin hood mentality, using their elevated luck to pull off heists gentleman-thief style, calling card and all. To fit, they wear a simplistic gold masquerade mask and business casual.
Reclamation R: Based on a mafia motif with a gold-lined suit and tie and trilby hat. Their eyes also glow gold in this pathway from the general use of his power to cause misfortune to others.
-----------------
Peace L: They have a fortune teller motif with slight gypsy inspiration, wearing more robe/yukata style clothing. They learn how to focus their premonition and see further and clearer into the future.
Resolve L: They've evolved to have more Hospian shinobi attire, and their power has evolved into very in-depth clairvoyance of the immediate area.
-----------------
Soldier V: They've specialized into a Sniper utilizing a long-range bolt-action rifle and wearing a tactical vest and shemagh. Their hair has turned from silver to stark white. They utilize their power to create smokescreen and artillery.
Civilian V: They've learned how to fly a refurbished Spitfire plane from the pre-collapse era and can materialize one at will, though they've lost most of their arsenal doing so. They wear a loosely decorated bomber jacket, silver scarf, and have styled/pinned their hair.
----------------
Cooperation P: has a thin red jacket and fireproof bandages covering burn marks on their hands and partway up their arms. Their power has evolved to carry them on burning wings and used in tandem with their spear.
Competition P: Has fireproof bandages covering the majority of their burn-marked body and replacing their upper clothing. Most of their skin has developed a reddish tint and their hair has an ember glow when they use their power without regulation.
---------------
Masochism M: They have a slight reaper motif. Their skin is spotted with hints of frost and their breath has a constant mist. They use their power against the blade of their spear to create a scythe and drastically drop the temperature of the immediate area. Their hair now has subtle white highlights.
Alternate M: They use their power to summon spears of ice and have more of an ice-mage motif. Their hair has more broad strokes of white and blue frost. They have a constant need to wear gloves and an arctic coat.
--------------
Insanity Raven: They wear an open black cloak/long coat that shows black markings etched into the side of their abdomen and snaking up to their neck made by the overuse of their power. Their hair is longer and they've developed a subtle red glint in their eyes whenever they use their power to steal people into a pocket dimension and condemn them to their fate.
Therapy Raven: They wear moderate dress wear and a blank mask that covers their entire face. They use their power as more of unlimited storage space for items and teleportation platforms than their counterpart. They're generally a lot more cleaned up in appearance on this path.
--------------
Speed demon S: They wear a leather riding jacket decorated with numerous colorful patches, a checkered scarf, and their token riding goggles. They use their power in tandem with Sandrider to create extremely fast dust devils and sand storms to boost their speed.
Troublemaker S: They wear cargo jeans and dusted tank top along with a dark bandana they use to cover their face and neck. Their hair has subtle red and yellow highlights. They use their power to cause persistent sandstorms and locus swarms while keeping a small arsenal of Molotov's and spray paint on hand.
--------------
Royal F: They've obtained a stylish crown and generally dress lavishly in expensive silken black/dark green suits/dresses with floral motifs etched into them. Their power is used to create debilitating toxins and poisons, utilizing the worst of nature for their purposes.
Commoner F: They specialized their archery, and wear a simplistic hemp tunic and archer's cowl interwoven with leaves for camouflage. Their hair is grown out and undone, dotted with the occasional flower or twig. They use their power to create a forest hunting ground along a wide area.
--------------
As a little bonus, I'll say there's two additional protagonist characters that have yet to be introduced that are also applicable to this time skip change.
One is a Hospian sword user with a samurai motif that has wind-based powers.
The other is a Vestian assassin with a jumping spider motif that uses garrote-like threads
--------------
Hopefully that helps to give you a little idea of what direction I'm going with these characters! I try to make the evolutions as interesting as possible while still sticking with the general foundation of the character. Some of these evolutions may not really make sense, but keep in mind there's a lot of in between stuff I have planned to make these changes a much more subtle and natural thing haha.

INTRODUCTION/WARNINGS/BACKSTORY
This is a temp post for right now, please make sure to visit my main blog @xspidergutsx
This blog is specifically 16/18+, and i will like to clarify i do not support any of the actions that will be mentioned. They are strictly for backstory purposes and will be handled with serious tones.
This AU includes fictional usage of the following contents either in the current/future with the AU including lore/character stories;
🦴Suggestive themes
🦴 Adult Topics such as Adult Entertainment
🦴 Drug usage   🦴 Alcohol 🦴 Violence
🦴 Gloomy Topics such as self inflicted injuries
🦴 Sensitive topics such as SA 🦴 Bodily fluids such as Blood
No porn will be posted, although due to the nature of the AU, suggestive artwork will be shown. No graphic imagery of any of the contents mentioned above will be drawn in any form of detail other then words, glimpses, or hints.
Please, if you are uncomfortable with ANY of these topics, please take care of yourself and steer away from this AU. Continue with CAUTION below.
This AU is easily explained as a combination of HorrorTale(©Sour-Apple-Studios), and UnderLust(©nsfwshamecave). However, it is in no form a representation of either, nor are they a inspiration of the AU, nor a form of ship AU. The AU is a dark and gloomy place, with adult themes sprinkled into it.
TerrorTale is a greyscale esc universe where the soon to be young adult Frisk, also called Fres, gets trapped underground after running away from home.
The main reoccurring character, Terror Sans, is a stripper and part time sex worker at his boss, Grillbeez, bar to help pay off his seemingly never ending bill. Although situations for Terror tend to be rough, he has not lost his charm or his love for puns. His brother, Terror Papyrus, is a security guard for the front gates into the mountain. He patrols the area to make sure no humans come into the underground, a agreement both the ruler of the monsters, Lord Asgore, has made in agreement with the mayor of the city they live close to, with a unknown name and appearance.  The world takes place in a underground city inside of a inactive volcano, where monsters of all types thrive. Although the monsters HATE humans after a near war almost broke out after countless speciesism attacks occurred, leading them to settle on the monsters being awarded thousands of acres of land, which included the volcano.   Although the wall around the land is useless, as Lord Asgore, and the skeleton brothers father, Gather ( Also nicknamed “Gaster” for his ghastly appearance, though sadly he is “deceased”. ) helped create a artificial magical wall around to help keep the magic within to allow the monsters to thrive, though now if the wall was to ever collapse, it would release thousands upon thousands amounts of horrid magical gas to completely erase any human life within the continent they live on. The volcano the world specifically takes place in has 4 of the classic locations from the original UnderTale (©Toby Fox), just with a twist. Ruins Snowdin WaterFalls Hotland Ruins lives up to its name, although, being a destroyed wasteland of nature from the harsh attacks brought from pervious break ins with humans. Snowdin is the only place where you must watch your back. Monsters there have no mercy to anyone, even their own. Although this only goes for certain parts of Snowdin, as the town itself can be known for being very peaceful and friendly... Just not to humans. WaterFalls is a calm place, riddled with all sorts of hippie monsters that will be brought up through time. Hotland, also where the Core is located, is the furthest depths inside the volcano, also where all the lava holds. There are also only 6 of the 7 souls, as mentioned in these two posts made by the AU’s creator/owner, @xspidergutsx Post 1 Post 2 For now, this concludes the introduction. Any further information will be posted separately, on the main blog, or answered through asks!

David Willows MK 2
A/N: Just an updated version of David’s profile, complete with a few changes and a more in-depth description of certain characteristics. Hope you guys enjoy and if you’d like your MC to be friends with him, message me and let’s chat about it.
Some more things to note:
-Merula is not the mole.
-I’m using the female version of Rowan as David’s best friend because to hell with game restrictions. Also, she survives, at least... David’s Rowan does.
-Drastic alteration to the Quidditch storyline. Skye is in David’s year and a Gryffindor. Orion, Murphy and Erika are two years above David and are in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin respectively. Also including Andre and Charlie while introducing Oliver Wood and Lee Jordan.
-It goes without saying but spoilers for my ideas. Some are kept deliberately vague and some aren’t covered entirely more so because I intend to write about it someday. Let me know what you guys think of those that are given though.
-------------
General Information
Name: David Owen Willows (Formerly David Owen Hall, changed to mother’s maiden name in 1982).
Gender: Male
Age: 11-18 (1984-91), 19-25 (1992-98)
DOB: 30/03/1973
Species: Human
Blood status: Half-blood
Sexuality: Straight
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Ethnicity: White-British
Nationality: English (maternal side of family is Irish, paternal grandmother is Scottish, paternal grandfather and father are English).
Residence: Liverpool/ Lancaster (during his Hogwarts years and depending upon who he’s staying with).
Wimborne (during his career as a pro Quidditch player)
Hogsmeade (final place of residence after becoming Charms professor)
Myers Briggs Personality Type: ENFP, The Campaigner
Character summary: Though he may come across as stand-offish at first, David Willows is a friend as loyal as he is bull-headed. A student of Erika Rath, he became known as Hound on the Quidditch pitch for his relentless pursuit of opposing players. A skill in duelling and the muggle martial art of muay thai (also a pair of knuckledusters) ensures David is a formidable opponent with or without magic.
Personality:
Aggressive: While he tries to reign in his anger, David is known to have a short temper when it comes to certain taunts. Chief amongst them, comparing him to Jacob. In his early years he was even willing to physically fight much older students despite the clear difference in both size and strength.
Aloof: For all of his first year and a good portion of his second year, David isn’t the one to initiate a friendship (except for Chiara but that was when there was no one else to really talk to while spending a night in the Hospital Wing due to the Devil’s Snare incident). However, while undergoing his first time as a quidditch player, he’s taught by Penny how to be a bit more social at pre and post-match parties.
Artistic: David was taught by his mother Rue to draw in greyscale sketches, something he improves on during his time throughout Hogwarts. In the midst of Jacob’s disappearance, his parent’s divorce and especially the stress that comes at Hogwarts, drawing provided an escape for him. His favourite things to draw are people and creatures.
Competitive: This aspect of David tends to come out the most when it comes to sport. With Erika as his mentor, he nurtures a healthy sense of competition as well as a determination to best the other houses and put Hufflepuff on top when it comes to quidditch.
Courageous: Largely as a result of his loyalty, David is willing to throw himself headlong into danger. The Sorting Hat didn’t nearly put him in Gryffindor for no reason.
Determined: When David sets his mind to a goal, he wants to accomplish it to the best of his abilities. In the case of finding Jacob however, it led to a sort of tunnel-vision, one that was finally broken when Chauncy and Philip succumb to injuries sustained under the sleepwalking curse.
Empathetic: Throughout his years at Hogwarts, David starts to empathise with people in his life. Even in the case of Merula, he sees how lonely she must really be and tries to reach out to her on numerous occasions. If he doesn’t fully understand it, he’d like you to share your feelings with him, at your own behest of course.
Loyal: In spite of a prickly exterior at first, once you win David’s loyalty, he’ll return it ten-fold. The type of friend who would take a bullet for you.
Snarky: David has a sharp tongue, preferably he tries to shut down an argument with his wits. Only going for duelling when he feels it necessary. That being said, he isn’t shy about getting petty in a verbal spar, for example his response to Merula when first being taunted about Jacob supposedly teaming up with Voldemort: “At least that’s just a rumour, can’t say the same about your parents.”
Stubborn: A self-described ‘stubborn git’, David is quite notorious for not budging from his position once he thinks he has all the facts he needs. If he’s being especially difficult, just get Merula.
Appearance
Face Claim: Dave Franco (as an adult at least).
Tumblr media
Voice Claim: Paul McCartney.
Game appearance:
Tumblr media
Physique: Athletic, broad shouldered and fairly bulky as a result of weight training with Erika.
Hair Colour: Dark Brown
Hair style: Chin-length (1st-2nd year), crew cut (3rd-4th year), short but long enough to slick back (5th year-present).
Eye colour: Dark brown.
Height: 5′11″ (as of 6th year)
Weight: Approx 80kg (when fully grown)
Scarring: A few small ones sustained during duels and the occasional mishap in quidditch, mostly on his upper body with a few on his legs. Sustains a burn scar on the left side of his waist during the battle with R.
Body modifications: Get’s the phrase “You’ll never walk alone.” tattooed on his right bicep at eighteen. Later gets a ram skull tattoo on his upper back just between the shoulder blades at age twenty. Finally, gets a shepherd crook just below the ram skull tattoo at age twenty-one.
Inventory: His wand, a pair of knuckledusters, a sketchbook, a pencil case containing stationary.
Fashion: He trusts Andre’s advice on what looks good on him though knows what works for him and what doesn’t. Partly influenced by his musical tastes (mainly punk, and rock and roll), has a love of leather jackets and slightly ripped jeans.
Background/ History:
Pre-Hogwarts:
-David was born in Liverpool, living in the suburb of Allerton. One of his favourite things to do was play football with Jacob and his dad.
-His mum would teach him to draw, most often on rainy days.
-Close to both of his parents as a result but it all changed when Jacob disappeared. He knew Jacob and his parents had arguments after being expelled but hadn’t heard any of it on account of the use of a muffling charm. Furthermore, Rue and Matthew were driven apart, Matthew blaming Jacob’s change in attitude and eventual disappearance on magic in its entirety.
-Sometime after Jacob disappeared and when the general shitshow stirred up by the Daily Prophet had died down, it was settled that Rue and Matthew would divorce. Given that David would go to Hogwarts as well, they thought it would be best for David to take Willows as his surname, hopefully not being recognised as Jacob Hall’s brother.
-This was fruitless, Rita Skeeter caught wind of the proceedings and sensationalised them, exposing the name change in the process. The stress and grief caused both parents to distance themselves from David in some way. Rue threw herself into work and became even more strict with David’s freedom while Matthew just left.
-David however, was fighting his own battles, it became known at his muggle school about Jacob going missing as well as his parents divorcing. This caused him to become quite reclusive from his classmates and would lash out at anyone who said a bad word towards him, especially if it concerned his family drama. He lost any friends he did have and refused to make any more.
During Hogwarts
-Year 1: He first meets Rowan, even being introduced to her younger brother, Alder (basically male Rowan).
David, Rowan, Tonks, Diego, Chiara and Penny first begin to form what becomes known as the Hufflesquad.
Also befriends Ben and Charlie.
Angelica Cole takes him under her wing despite not being in the same house and even shows David a group of trolls she’s been tending to in preparation for her apprenticeship in training security trolls.
Meets the Booths during the Christmas break and despite a rocky start, begins to develop a positive relationship with them even coming to an understanding with his dad.
During one of his expeditions with Angelica, he’s confronted by Needle, an acromantula that previously belonged to Jacob.
Finally stands up to his mum properly, resulting in him staying with the Booths for the summer in Lancaster.
-Year 2: David meets those who are involved in the Quidditch scene at Hogwarts, including Erika Rath, who he briefly develops a crush on until he’s let down gently at the end of Year 2.
He duels Merula for a second time, winning once more, which makes her cry albeit in private. This then results in having his first encounter with Barnaby Lee, who confronts David about upsetting Merula. David tries to get past but Barnaby wraps his hands around David’s throat. Not actually choking him mind, more to get his attention. David panics as it reminds him of the Devil’s Snare that wrapped around his throat and lashes out at Barnaby.
David puts Barnaby in the hospital wing, much to the anger of Liz Tuttle.
The last Quidditch match for the House Cup between Hufflepuff and Slytherin is interrupted by the spread of the cursed ice. Ultimately resulting in Gryffindor’s victory in the cup for that year.
Rue comes back, mentioning how Corey Hayden (David’s American cousin in this AU) would like to transfer to Hogwarts.
Year 3: Amelia comes to Hogwarts as a first year and gets sorted into Hufflepuff. Similarly, Alder starts at Hogwarts and is sorted into Ravenclaw.
Amelia brings Dusty, her cat, along with her. However, Dusty goes missing shortly after arriving at the castle.
Later, in a COMC class, Barnaby mentions that he found a cat matching Dusty’s description. Initially, David is very suspicious to the extent of threatening Barnaby if he harmed Dusty in any way. Barnaby refutes this and returns Dusty to him unharmed, causing David to apologise for both for the accusation and the events that happened last year. Eventually, he even befriends Barnaby.
In a similar vein, when tending to some of his creatures on the reserve, he bumps into Liz and winds up introducing her to Needle. The two get a friendship going, David admiring Liz’s passion for creatures and Liz appreciating David for not finding her weird when she rambles about animals. To the extent that they go out on a few dates.
Close to the end of the year, he rants at Merula. Effectively asking the question of why she seems to hate him. Yet despite the rant he closes off with how he understands Merula, he’s been that lonely kid lashing out at the world and it’s not fun. Despite her reluctance to admit it, Merula knows David is right.
He gets the chance to verbally unload on Rita Skeeter for the articles she wrote about his family when she comes to the school looking to interview an interesting student. Later, several of his friends plus Merula of all people step in to put Skeeter in her place when she successfully provokes him into a fit of rage to make him look bad. The situation is eventually diffused by McGonagall.
Year 4:
Corey officially transfers to Hogwarts from Ilvermorny after exchanging letters with David throughout third year.
Though David wasn’t particularly close to them, Chauncy and Philip (two of his dormmates alongside Diego) succumb to injuries sustained when they were attacked by a red cap under the Sleepwalking curse. When he learns the truth of what attacked them, David slays the creature.
David starts to realise he has a crush on Merula after assisting her in casting Expecto Patronum. Later in the year, he takes her out on a date to Hogsmeade, gets her a songbook for Christmas and even takes her out to the Celestial Ball.
Merula’s parents are freed from Azkaban by R, her mother even meeting Merula in secret throughout the year. During one of their meet-ups, she has a hunch Merula is starting to develop a crush on David (something which is true but not something she would admit it at the time).
In order to eliminate this apparent threat to her family’s blood purity, she asks Merula to bring him to her in the Forbidden Forest under the guise of allowing the two of them to join R like she has. Instead, she subdues David with Petrificus Totalus, attempting to convince Merula to leave him, that David isn’t worth it.
Merula sides with David even though it pains her initially. David stays with her over the summer, where they try to figure out... whatever the hell their relationship is at the moment.
Year 5: Throughout this year he dates Merula in secret until Valentine’s Day. It’s here that she confesses she’s ready to have their relationship out in the open.
One of the most major event for David is Rakepick’s betrayal, he had actually grown fond of her as a mentor. Being stabbed in the back wasn’t a good thing for him.
The second is Jacob leaving immediately after David finds him. It’s hurtful and David becomes a bit reclusive for a while. Finally, he’s comforted by Bill, Orion and Erika, the older sibling figures in his life.
Year 6: Jacob returns, under the watchful eye of Alastor Moody, acting as the DADA  teacher for that year. Naturally, there’s tension between the brothers, which eventually resolves.
Jacob does join David for the Christmas break, where he gets along well with the Booths and reunites with his parents.
As well as this, R attempts to come after Amelia, resulting in the death of Alder Khanna. As well as being a devastating loss, it causes a rough patch in David and Rowan’s relationship when in her grief she winds up shouting “I wish I’d never met you, David Willows!” She only realises what she just said when the words leave her mouth but regardless, it causes a fracture within David’s larger circle of friends.
Eventually, the time comes for when David, Jacob and their allies take on the vaults like they had always dreamed of. Together, they face off against the guardian of the Sunken vault, an Ammit (based on the creature of Ancient Egyptian Mythology). Eventually the beast is defeated and they claim the treasure of the vaults, what seems to be the base of a necklace.
In a celebration at the Three Broomsticks, R attacks and murders Jacob. This sends David spiralling into grief, hitting his truly lowest point. He worked so hard, he rebuilt his family at home and forged a new one at Hogwarts, all the while hoping Jacob would be able to join them. And what was it all for? Nothing.
Before the school year is up... he snaps his wand and runs away from Hogwarts. Not to Liverpool, not to Lancaster, just anywhere but there. It will keep his friends and family safe or so he reasons. Deep down though, he thinks it’s cowardly.
During this time, he finds his way to Glasgow and starts sleeping rough on the streets all the while battling with grief, anger and self loathing. This goes on for two months before Moody tracks him down, apparating him to a secluded area of the Scottish countryside, kicks his arse and talks him down. Taking him to Grimmauld Place afterwards with the intention of formulating a plan to take the fight to R.
Where he finds most of his remaining friends waiting for him. At first he staunchly refuses their help, feeling he’s already put enough people in danger. Yet they refuse to leave.
This is actually the moment where the Circle of Khanna is formed, this time named for Alder. Reconciling with Rowan after a serious heart-to-heart.
Year 7: ...Let’s just say R is going to regret setting David Willows on the warpath.
R’s destruction becomes widely regarded news, however David allows Moody to take the credit for it. Frankly, by this point he’s sick of any attachment to the Cabal and just wants to play Quidditch.
He’s able to pass his NEWTS and win the Quidditch cup for Hufflepuff one last time, resulting in him being offered the position as beater on the Wimborne Wasps.
Post-Hogwarts:
David and Merula work things out, moving in together. Though it’s odd with David still keeping at his Quidditch training and Merula now working for Gringotts as a curse-breaker. After winning the British and Irish League for the Wasps in 1993, he proposes to Merula which she accepts.
In 1994, they have a wedding in the summer time with Rowan being David’s best woman. They did plan on having kids until Cedric’s murder at the hands of Voldemort. With Quidditch cancelled and Merula being affiliated to Gringotts, both are approached to work for the Order.
Though initially very hesitant, David agrees. Eliminating Death Eaters, rescuing their hostages and even fighting in the Battle of Hogwarts.
He returns to the Quidditch scene when it starts up again in 1999, helping the Wasps win the cup three more times. 1999 is also the year in which Merula and David have their first kid, Robin. After the latest victory in 2002 he discovers Merula is pregnant again, and his retirement from Quidditch is looming on the horizon. He’s convinced by Judith Harris (@judediangelo75) to teach for a few weeks over the summer at KC’s (@kc-needs-coffee) quidditch summer camp.  It’s here that he develops a love for teaching. Getting in touch with professor Flitwick to work as his assistant before becoming the Charms professor.
In early 2003, he welcomes his son Nicholas into the world.
Family
Matthew Hall (father):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Ben Miller
A stern but fair man and CIMA-qualified accountant originally from Yorkshire, Matthew met David’s biological mother Rue when he was on a business trip to Dublin in 1956. Encountering her in a quiet pub being told “I’ve dealt with a real dragon today” when he asked if she was okay on account of how tired she looked. Matthew took it as a joke but Rue was being entirely serious. They struck up a friendship and began dating, eventually getting married in 1961 and having Jacob in 1964.
initially, he was fascinated by the existence of the wizarding world but soon came to fear it after Jacob’s disappearance. Divorcing Rue afterwards and cutting off contact from David aside from agreeing to send child maintenance. However, after being chewed out by his girlfriend Lyra, he all but begs David to come visit him in Lancaster over Christmas in 1984.
The reason being that Amelia’s magical abilities finally began to manifest, which became a cause of conflict between David and Matthew, largely from David thinking that was the only reason he was invited. Eventually, they come to an understanding and try to work on improving their relationship.
Rue Willows (mother):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Fiona O’Carroll
A dragonologist from Dublin in the employ of the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau. Though she was strict, she was generally attentive towards David, being the one who taught him to draw.
After Jacob’s disappearance however, she became very withdrawn and austere. It was her way of opting for a ‘tough love’ approach, thinking she had been too soft and in her misguidance tried to control David’s life. Even then, she still grieved, frequently getting into arguments with David about his behaviour at school, bringing up Jacob when David tried to make her proud of him and other such things.
During the start of the summer break between first and second year, David finally stands up to her properly. The words that get through to her are the following, “That stranger’s name is Lyra and she’s been a better mum to me in the weeks I’ve known her than you have for me in years.” and “I love you too mum... but I don’t know if I like you anymore.”
She does a lot of soul searching after that, staying with relatives in America for a year before coming back and promising to do better with her and David’s relationship.
Lyra Booth (nee Robinson) (step-mother):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Ruth Wilson
A muggle and CIMA-qualified accountant originally from London, left widowed in 1980 after her first husband, Peter died in a car accident. She met Matthew when working at an accounting firm in Lancaster shortly after his divorce from Rue. After a couple months of knowing each other, the two began dating, Lyra introduced him to her children, who he hit it off well with.
She knew he had a son who he sent child maintenance to but it wasn’t revealed until Amelia accidentally made a plant pot explode in a fit of frustration that Lyra learned the truth. Consequently... she blew up at Matthew for as good as abandoning as his son. Insisting on inviting him around for Christmas.
While David was prickly when he first came around, he eventually warmed up to her and the rest of the Booths, being a positive maternal influence on him.
Jacob Hall (brother) (deceased):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Tom Holland
David’s only biological sibling, a gifted though trouble-making student, first became interested in the cursed vaults during his first year when he was informed about the legend by seventh year Patricia Rakepick. In his sixth year, he stood up for fellow Gryffindor Angelica Cole when she was being bullied (at the time she was a first year).
His investigation into the vaults would put him into conflict with the mysterious cult known as R. A conflict that would put his family in danger and even cost him his life.
Alex Booth (step-brother):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Jody Latham
The eldest of the Booth siblings, Alex is a highly protective big brother and was worried upon realising his little sister was going to be part of a world none of them had any knowledge about. He tried to make David feel welcome despite the younger boy’s hostility.
When David attempted to run away during his first stay with the Booths, Alex caught him in the act and made a deal, get past him and he wouldn’t tell anyone he’d left. Though David was tenacious, Alex stopped him every time even pointing out the flaws in David’s technique if he tried to physically fight Alex. After David finally gave up, Alex didn’t breathe a word of his run away attempt to anyone. David would take up Alex’s offer to teach him muay thai during his first visit.
Sarah Booth (step-sister):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Emilia Clarke
The middle child of the Booth siblings and also the least welcoming, Sarah was most vocally against Amelia being part of the wizarding world. She treated David coldly at first, going on a grouse hunting trip with her friends the day after he arrived to stay with them for Christmas.
However, at some point, she caught him reading an old copy of a Shooting Times magazine and after some persuasion by Alex, took David clay pigeon shooting. Becoming quite impressed, and even a little endeared from how quickly he picked up shooting.
Amelia Booth (step-sister):
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Maisie Williams
A muggleborn witch and the youngest of the Booth siblings, Amelia was surprised to realise she possessed magical abilities. Though was even more shocked to learn Matthew already knew about it.
When she was five years old, she was involved in the car accident that killed her father. Resulting in her being scarred with a gash on the right side of her forehead, a similar one on her left cheek and a larger one that cuts across from shoulder to her chest. Though she repressed the memory, she did indeed see her father die, thus Thestrals are visible to her. Another thing the accident did was give her motorphobia, though can tolerate it as long as she’s A) In control of the vehicle and B) It’s not motorised.
However, she does have a love of cycling, she was taught to do so by her dad before he died. Similarly, gymnastics helped her get some of her confidence back after the accident and still keeps up with it. A love of plants and animals prompts her to excel in Herbology and Potions, then later COMC.

Professor Sprout, his head of house and someone he feels he can go to if he needs advice. One of several people who warned him about being careful with Patricia Rakepick.
Professor Mcgonagall, his Transfiguration teacher and head of Jacob’s house when he was at Hogwarts. Though they disagree entirely on him tackling the vaults, he always pays attention in her lessons as while she’s often stern she can be a great teacher.
Professor Flitwick, as his Charms teacher, David always found Flitwick to be respectable. David especially respects Flitwick for teaching him Expelliarmus, even after he was honest in what he intended to do with it (i.e. use it in a duel against Merula). Also came for Flitwick’s help in developing Cometa.
Least Favourite Professors:
Professor Binns: Finds his droning entirely too boring and really only passed History of Magic thanks to Rowan.
Every other professor he’s either neutral on (Snape and Trelwany) or he likes but aren’t his favourites (Kettleburn).

Liz Tuttle (dated briefly in third year but broke things off fairly amicably when they realised they were developing crushes on other people).
Merula Snyde (began dating in fourth year, later marries David in 1994)
Best MC friends:
Judith Harris (@judediangelo75): The closest of his MC friends, David and Judith first get acquainted by being pushed into friendship... somewhat subtly by Penny Haywood. Both of them catch on when Penny mentions they should try out for the Quidditch team. Both of them still go for it, bonding over a shared love of martial arts and proving they have the potential to be fearsome beaters.
Throughout their time at Hogwarts, David and Judith would demonstrate a fierce loyalty to each other, being as close as siblings. David even becoming godfather to her children, Bakari and Kendrick.
Cato Reese (@catohphm): David was first introduced to Cato by Penny. The two find themselves sharing very similar values, having a great love their friends and absolute ruthlessness towards their enemies.
Like anyone involved in the Quidditch scene at Hogwarts, David has a bit of a rivalry with him. Tending to trash talk him (though with no real weight behind it), Cato understands that David doesn’t mean it.
Katriona Cassiopea (KC) (@kc-needs-coffee): The two of them are sports fanatics, they could talk to each other for hours about Quidditch. While David definitely knows more about footy, he’s eager to learn about any sport, such as baseball which KC is highly knowledgeable about.
KC would be one of the first to jump at the football matches David organises during his time at Hogwarts.
Lizzie Jameson (@lifeofkaze): Like David, Lizzie is an avid fan of LFC. Even meeting up at some point with their respective partners to watch a footy match at Anfield, where Liverpool were playing.
On the quidditch pitch, Lizzie is a chaser and knows she can count on David to keep the bludgers off her back.
If any of your MCs would want to be friends with David, let me know!
Rivals:
Merula Snyde (For most of his time at Hogwarts).
During Quidditch: Erika Rath, Skye Parkin, Andre Egwu, Charlie Weasley, Angelica Cole, Oliver Wood, Cato Reese and Katriona Cassiopea.

Death Eaters
Magical Abilities
1st Wand: Blackthorn, unicorn hair core, ten and a quarter inches, slightly springy and flexible. Snaps it in half shortly just before the end of sixth year, citing, “What kind of warrior can’t even protect his own brother?”
Blackthorn, which is a very unusual wand wood, has the reputation, in my view very well-merited, of being best suited to a warrior.
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing.
2nd Wand: English Oak, Dragon Heartstring core, twelve and a half inches, unbending.
A wand for the good times and bad, this is a friend as loyal as the wizard who deserves it. Wands of English Oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Obtained from Garrick Ollivander while being accompanied by Alastor Moody.
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon  wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
Animagus form: A ram, specifically of a Dalesbred Sheep. Rams symbolise determination, initiative and leadership, factors that are put to the test more than once during his time at Hogwarts.
Misc magical abilities: Legilimens, Rue informs him of potentially inheriting her legilimens ability between third year and fourth year when he tells her of his delve into the Vault of Fear. David prefers not using it on people, rather using it to see through the eyes of animals as his great grandfather Reuben used to do.
Occlumency: Snape, at Dumbledore’s behest begins teaching David the art of Occlumency in fifth year.
Non-verbal magic: David began learning the non-verbal use of magic in fifth year thanks to professor Flitwick. Becoming highly skilled in it by his seventh year.
Spell creation: Assists in the creation of Stella Cascadia alongside Badeea Ali. Given how dangerous the vaults could be, he begins to work on another spell inspired by Stella Cascadia alongside several of his friends, Cometa, the comet jinx.
Boggart Form: Initially, Jacob as a death eater after hearing about the rumours of him taking Voldemort’s side.
From year four onwards, himself as a dark wizard as he worries about the path the vaults will set him on.
Riddikulus Form: Death eater Jacob’s mask turns into a pie that promptly splats him in the face.
Later, his dark wizard self in the uniform of Everton Football Club with a blue clown nose and wig to match. Since he’s a Liverpool Football Club supporter, seeing himself in one his rival team’s colours as a clown is hilarious to him.
Amortentia (what do they smell like?): A sea breeze and heather.
Amortentia (what do they smell?): Freshly mown grass and clear air after a rainfall.
Patronus: African wild dog, a symbol of his loyalty and relentless pursuit of his goals.
Patronus memory: -Attending the LFC vs Nottingham Forest semi final match of the Football League Cup at Anfield on the 12th February 1980 with his dad and Jacob. They drew 1-1 and LFC didn’t get through to the final but David was still happy to be there with both them.
Mirror of Erised: Jacob being back, alongside all of his friends and family. All of them are safe and well.
Specialised/ favourite spells:
Cometa, a spell that David creates in sixth year with the help of Badeea Ali, Rowan Khanna, Merula Snyde, Diego Caplan and professor Flitwick. Inspired by Stella Cascadia, and using some principles from the Ice Jinx, the spell initially creates cricket ball-sized pieces of ice that explode into a mist when they impact against something. This makes it especially useful for blinding or disorienting a target. Later they develop the more-powerful Cometa Maxima in seventh year. Its main limitations are maintaining eye contact directed at the target (as is the case for all jinxes) and its general range is quite short (about twenty five feet) due to the “comet” (really a mix of ice, dust and gases) disintegrating quite quickly.
Protego Diabolica, A spell taught to him by Felix Rosier in sixth year, nothing says “Get away from my friends!” Like a massive wall of blue flame that incinerates enemies and leaves allies unharmed.
Expelliarmus, the Disarming charm taught to David by Professor Flitwick in first year is one of his go-to spells when duelling.
Protego, learned in order to protect himself from spells and other projectiles.
Healing spells: Largely taught to him by Chiara throughout their time at Hogwarts, healing spells have come in handy more than once when he needs to preserve his own or his friend’s lives.
Expecto Patronum, though niche, a spell that can get rid of a dementor is nothing to scoff at. Plus it’s a sentimental reminder of his friendship with Tonks.
Incendio, good as a fire-starter and a duelling spell, also reminds him of a time when Merula stood up to Rita Skeeter for him by burning her camera.
Misc Information
-David is a huge supporter of Liverpool Football Club (LFC), so much so one of his casuals is a club uniform.
-As well as Needle, David has other creatures on the reserve, Lucky (Knarl), Clop (Porlock), Bonita (fairy), Mori (thestral), and Chen (Chinese fireball).

I hope you don't mind enlightening us on shading and lighting 👀 I love how you shade (especially with all the fancy double light sources you do--)
Absolutely!
When it comes to shading and lighting- I could blab all day about colors and color theory, but in the end, a lot of it comes down to understanding 3D forms.
If you’re struggling with shading something and can’t tell if it’s turning out right, I would suggest turning it to greyscale to see if it’s working or not. Even practicing shading in greyscale can be immensely helpful.
Tumblr media
I’d practice shading different light sources on the same face to get a feel for how a face works in 3D. (The far left drawing has lighting directly in front of the face, the middle one has light coming from below, and the far right one has light coming from the side.)
I tried to do a mesh drawing on top to show you how you want to think of things as 3D, not 2D, but I’m not sure if it worked well haha.
Tumblr media
Anyway. Moving on. I don’t have a strict method of coloring things, but this is generally how I go about it. I start with flat colors, and then choose where I want my light source to be by adding in shadows. (Shadows naturally tend to be cooler in color, and highlights tend to be warmer, but it’s fun to experiment with different lighting conditions!)
Tumblr media
On top of that, I add highlights, and then add a little more depth to the shadows by adding a few darker spots where I think it needs it.
Tumblr media
Then I tell myself “Stop adding double light sources to literally every drawing you do” and then I promptly ignore myself and add a double light source :D (+ here’s what it looks like when I convert it to greyscale to check it)
Tumblr media
Adding a second light source can really make a drawing pop. I typically add it on the opposite side of my main light source.
This specific secondary light is referred to as a “rim light” because it’s just barely touching the outline of the figure. It’s totally possible to have two light sources that are the same strength though!
Like in this Red drawing I did, I focused on only adding highlights from the two light sources as opposed to shading. I only added some shadows afterward in places that needed it.
Tumblr media
I hope that helps! Lmk if you have other questions!
