I was playing Sky: Children of the Light recently and thought about the Teiko gang + Kagami playing it together

Before I start with my headcanons, I'm sure some of y'all don't know what Sky: Children of the Light is, so I'll explain briefly.

Sky is a social adventure game where you play as a child from the now-desolate Sky Kingdom. Through exploring the seven realms of this kingdom, you restore the light back to the remaining spirits while unraveling the lore of the kingdom and figuring out what happened to it and where all the people went. You can play this game solo if you want to, but it's best played with friends. You can also play with up to eight friends on one server, and the Teiko gang + Kagami is exactly eight people, which works out perfectly! So this post will be me talking about the type of players I think all of them would be on Sky and what type of hijinks I think they'd get into if they decided to play on the same server. The rest will be under the cut. Enjoy!

KUROKO

Very diligent about playing Sky on a regular basis but doesn't play super long sessions unless he's playing with other people. Totally fine with playing by himself since he likes to wander the maps and find quiet secluded places to sit.

But sometimes he also "people watches" in the game and categorizes people based on how they play Sky. Ever since he started people-watching for basketball, it translates into pretty much everything he does, so social video games are no exception.

But when he's taking a break from solitude, he's helping moths (a term of endearment for newbies in Sky) navigate their way through the game and complete quests. There are probably a few he befriends and sees from time to time when he opens Sky, and he kinda feels like a proud parent each and every time he runs into them and sees how much they've leveled up.

Since he's an avid reader I would think he'd be a big fan of worldbuilding and lore and so I think he'd really like exploring the lore of Sky. He follows the official Sky pages on Twitter and YT to keep updated.

In terms of what Kuroko would look like in Sky (since you can customize your Sky kid's outfit and hair), he would dress very simplistically. His fit would almost always be something from the regular accessory constellations. Nothing flashy or out of the ordinary. The only non-default accessory he consistently wears is a pair of sunglasses he got during one season (a season is a period where you can do limited-time themed events and be able to get special cosmetics and emotes). He's pretty frugal in-game, so even though he has a fair number of candles (the in-game currency), he doesn't spend it that much. And the things he spends it on are small accessories and other trinkets.

Somehow, his Misdirection translates into Sky as well because most people really don't notice him, so it's pretty difficult for him to open special doors that require the help of at least two people. That's why he always befriends people who notice him. He knows that they've got his back and he's got theirs.

In Sky, you can also leave messages for other players to read. They usually take the form of paper boats or cranes you can place in any body of water in Sky, and you can write whatever you want on them (within reason of course). So, I can imagine Kuroko would always leave encouraging messages for others like "Don't give up!" and "You can do it!" Those messages always get so much attention, but nobody ever knows who writes them.

KAGAMI

Is almost never on by himself. Most of the time, he's online when Kuroko is online and they do quests together.

Since he's more of an infrequent player, he's often confused about certain aspects of the game and will need Kuroko to help him out.

He likes the game for the pretty scenery and nice music but doesn't really engage with it on a deeper level since he's not super informed about The Lore™. As a result, he's constantly asking Kuroko for explanations as to why certain things in the game are happening.

The rare times he is on by himself he's kind of awkward in navigating the maps and making friends. I would say he's more of a moth than anyone on this list, which means that whenever he's by himself, other players feel more inclined to help him out, which is how he kind of gets adopted by multiple different players. He would log into Sky and check his friend constellations to find that multiple people have gifted him light (you need light to be able to forge hearts which are a more valuable type of in-game currency that buys you more extravagant cosmetics compared to candles).

I would say he often gets sidetracked while doing quests. He'd see somewhere that he hadn't explored and drop everything to go check it out.

The way his Sky kid is dressed is a mixture of regular and seasonal cosmetics that he's managed to snag. He always tries to make himself look cool on Sky, so he cares a little bit more about his appearance because of that.

He is perpetually broke on Sky. Almost always less than 10 candles to his name. So when the time comes for him to buy a cosmetic that he really likes, he's constantly having to hustle last-minute and collect enough light around the kingdom to forge candles.

KISE

Either plays by himself or with the rest of the gang however he much prefers company and is not above pestering the others to come online and play with him.

Also a regular player because the game is cute and fun for him. He probably plays it a lot while he's on break during a modeling session or during lunch breaks at school.

He knows the basic lore of Sky but doesn't go any further. He's not one to create theories like that because he also kinda takes it at face value.

He's the type to unlock all the nodes in his friends' constellations so he can do cute things with them (unlocking friendship nodes means you can initiate gestures with friends like high-fives, hugs, piggyback rides, and more).

Because he's so used to being followed and chased by fangirls due to his modeling career, he likes the anonymity of Sky because it gives him the freedom to approach and chat with other players as an equal.

He is the flashiest Sky kid out of everyone. If he's not grinding to get all the seasonal cosmetics, he's using real money to splurge on some of the cosmetics you can't buy with in-game currency. The others sometimes are embarrassed by how much he sticks out, but Kise never lets that deter him from being the most fashionable person on the server.

He also likes leaving messages in paper boats, but they're usually generic messages like a "hi!" with a bunch of emojis. Anyone in the gang who finds his messages will screenshot them and send them to Kise via text to let him know that his messages have been spotted.

MIDORIMA

He plays this game on and off, but when he's on, he's on.

He usually plays with other people since he's more likely to play if there's a group session, but it's not uncommon to catch him doing quests by himself or simply just exploring parts of the map he's never been to before.

He strikes me as someone who'd be super deep into Sky lore and making his own theories. But his tsundere ass would pretend like he's not into it and swears that he only got this game because Kise and Momoi begged him to, even though there are too many occasions of other people in the gang asking if he wants to join them to do daily quests and Midorima responding that he's already done them, and everyone wises up that he likes the game far more than he lets on, but they don't call him out on it.

He only bothers playing with actual friends. He doesn't really interact with other strangers on the server. So, if he's on Sky by himself, he's truly just doing everything alone. Any nodes unlocked in his friendship constellation are unlocked by other people in the gang. He'd rather die than use his candles to unlock a hug emote with any of his friends.

Since there's a set limit to how many candles you can forge per day (there's a limited amount of light you can collect across the seven realms to forge candles and it refreshes daily), he takes note of where the biggest/most candles are and remembers that if he needs to forge a bunch of candles in a hurry but doesn't have time to collect every single fragment of light across all the realms.

In terms of what Midorima's Sky kid would look like, he'd be dressed very smartly. No matter what outfit he has on, he always seems to look like a scholar of some sort. Even his hair is well put together. He's not one to shy away from seasonal cosmetics, but they're not the over-the-top outfits like Kise would have on. He dresses a lot more modestly like Kuroko but not in that "default setting" sort of way.

He sometimes hoards spells (in Sky, you can purchase/be given spells that can allow you to give your Sky kid temporary boosts or powers like recharging your wings faster, making you taller or shorter, or even giving you a different outfit. These spells can also be shared with friends if you hold their hand while activating them.) He sometimes uses the outfit spells as a test run to see if something looks nice on him. And if it does, he'll save up enough candles to buy the real thing.

AOMINE

Very infrequent player. He'll log on once to wreak havoc all day before disappearing for weeks at a time.

He never plays unless someone else in the gang is also online. Especially if it's Kuroko.

Doesn't give a fuck about the lore at all and because he plays so infrequently he never has any idea what goes on.

He also doesn't have that much winged light (the more winged light you collect the more energy you have to fly) but somehow he manages to explore just as well as everyone else in the gang. It's kind of impressive.

He has no problem charging into the more dangerous areas of Sky. In fact, it would be better to say he likes to get himself into danger on purpose for that sweet, sweet adrenaline rush.

In terms of what his Sky kid looks like, I would say he also has very default accessories like Kuroko, not because he prefers them but because he's so infrequently online that he never earns enough seasonal candles to buy specially-themed accessories. However, trust and believe he will still make do with what he has. He seems like the type of person to prefer all the goofiest-looking cosmetics like beards and bushy eyebrows. It almost annoys the others how unserious his Sky kid looks at all times, but he never pays them any attention.

Sometimes when he's bored he'll try and exploit glitches in the game to see what they do or to try and get into an inaccessible area of the map.

MOMOI

Another frequent player. She loves this game DOWN. After school, she likes to get cozy in her room and hop online.

She enjoys playing both by herself and with the rest of the gang, she's not biased toward one or the other.

She really enjoys the lore of Sky and does things like analyze the appearance of each realm so she can make theories. I bet she has a notebook where she keeps track of all the lore and her interpretations of it. She exchanges theories with Kuroko a lot. Also Midorima, too, but he'll pretend like he's not interested in it.

She mainly likes to play with the rest of the gang but she's not opposed to making friends with a couple strangers on the server here and there. Sometimes if nobody from the gang is online, she'll do daily quests with these other players and sometimes add them to her friendship constellation.

You will never catch her broke on Sky. She does regular candle runs to replenish her earnings (going on a candle run means you travel through all the realms and collect all the available light so you can forge it into candles. You can typically earn about 20 candles in a day if you do a full candle run). She is probably the most consistent with gifting friends light and hearts, too. She's also the best person to ask about upcoming seasons and other Sky-related info since she follows the developers and the official Sky page on YouTube and Twitter.

Her Sky kid is the prettiest out of everyone's. Since she's such a frequent player, she has a bunch of seasonal cosmetics that she loves to alternate between. Every time the others see her, she's in a new outfit. She's just constantly decked out to the nines. She and Kise sometimes coordinate their outfits.

She has accumulated a lot of placeable props in her inventory (placeable props are decorative or functional items you can place on the ground in Sky. They could be anything from a cushion to a swing set.) She also loves to make shared spaces (shared spaces are little shrine areas that you can create and decorate as your space using props you have acquired. These spaces can also be accessed by other players). Her shared spaces are always cute and well-decorated. She likes to create them in secluded areas of the map so she and the rest of the gang can just hang out in those spaces together away from everyone else.

MURASAKIBARA

Not a super frequent player but more active than people expect. I peg him as a fan of cozy games.

Most times he prefers to play with other people, but sometimes he will have days where he'll just go off by himself and get up to God knows what.

He loosely follows the lore but doesn't really care about theories the way some of the others do. He doesn't really play Sky to think too hard about anything. He mainly just plays it to take his mind off other things.

Candle runs are so much work so sometimes he waits for others in the gang to come online before doing them for the sole purpose of holding onto their hands in-game and letting them do all the work on his behalf.

He loves accepting gifts of light and hearts but almost always forgets to return the favor. Kise complains about it the most.

His Sky kid is surprisingly well put together. When choosing hairstyles, he'll always go for the longer-haired ones out of habit. He sometimes likes wearing the pigtail hairstyles, too. In terms of cuteness, his Sky kid is second only to Momoi's. You will never catch him lacking when it comes to outfits.

He likes to antagonize Kagami when Kagami shows ignorance in something related to Sky. A simple "Huh? You didn't know even this much?" would be enough to send Kagami spiraling for ages. It's a very hilarious sight to see walls of text above the head of Kagami's Sky kid as he argues with Murasakibara through the in-game chat function.

AKASHI

Another unexpectedly frequent player. It's a refreshing change of pace from his busy life.

He has fun playing solo and playing with friends, and it astounds the others what he can get up to when left to play alone. He could probably tackle some of the more dangerous realms singlehandedly.

He is another person big on lore and exchanges theories with the other lore fans of the squad, focusing on even the most minute details of the map and the characters to make inferences. Sometimes he'll think of theories that the others hadn't even remotely considered. He also follows the official Sky page for updates, too and will (along with Momoi) be one of the first to know about new Sky-related info.

He has the best control of his Sky kid while flying out of everyone. He's just really good at maneuvering tight spaces or windy currents. Also really good at diving. The others never have to worry about him if they're traveling around the map. It's actually them who have to keep up with Akashi.

He's not one to officially befriend a lot of other players per se, but he does use the common areas scattered across the map to talk to people sometimes. He enjoys the idea of being able to approach whoever without worrying about people being intimidated by him. Being able to just be treated as a regular person feels nice.

His Sky kid is always dressed so stylishly. Not too flashy like Kise but not too proper like Midorima. Akashi lets himself get creative with the outfit coordination. He especially loves the different masks you can wear and loves collecting those the most.

You can also have instruments in Sky that are actually playable, so during group gaming sessions, he likes to sit down and play songs for the squad. You can either go buy the sheet music you can unlock through constellations or you can just play whatever random notes you like. Either way, Akashi finds a way to entertain his friends.

HOW WOULD THEY ALL PLAY TOGETHER AS A GROUP?

First of all, Akamomo as the canonical activity planners of their friend circle would be the ones to reach out to everyone for availabilities so they could arrange a group gaming session.

Most of the time they do full group sessions during new seasons where maybe new parts of the map are unlocked and they all get to discover it together.

Aomine is usually the one who puts everyone else's safety at risk in the more dangerous realms. There are a few realms with dark dragons that knock winged light out of players if they spot you, and Aomine sometimes deliberately provokes them. Most of the time he isn't able to dodge, which leaves everyone else to grab his winged light for him after he gets knocked out.

Sometimes Murasakibara disappears mid-game to go grab snacks so you'll see his Sky kid just snoozing while he's inactive.

Kuroko, Momoi, Akashi, and Midorima have fixations on cave paintings in Sky and will sometimes spend several minutes going back and forth on theories and interpretations of lore.

On occasion, after all of their daily quests are done, they like to find secluded parts of the map to just chill and talk. They like utilizing Momoi's shared spaces for that specific purpose.

Sometimes Kise manages to convince everyone to coordinate their outfits,

Kagami constantly has to be saved by the Teiko gang members when he runs out of energy to fly, and it humiliates him to no end. Especially if Aomine ends up saving him because he hates owing Aomine favors.

Kuroko loves using the high-five emote a lot, especially with Kagami and Aomine.

Kise refuses to go into scary parts of the map unless someone holds his hand in-game.

Aomine will sometimes break off from the group and come back holding a crab that he picked up from who knows where.

Akashi is the one who scopes out an area for potential danger first before letting the others start wandering around. If he feels like somebody in the group is about to be in danger, he'll start calling out to them to come back.

Midorima is constantly shepherding the others whenever they get distracted from doing their daily tasks. He will always make his annoyance known whenever the rest of the group is not doing what he thinks they should be doing. He sometimes enlists Momoi for help.

All in all, they're chaotic as fuck when they play altogether, but they admit that it makes everything all the more fun.

It was raining. The sounds of constant fallen raindrops greatly creates a calming ambience. You looked outside through the window, feeling a little depressed.

‘Looks like I’m stuck here again…’ you thought.

It’s been three days and you haven’t been able to walk outside. You initially planned to take a leisure stroll with Ayato but it’s been raining since then.

You closed your book and decided to visit his office that was just a few steps away. Unfortunately, you’re only greeted by an empty room. Ayato wasn’t at the estate and you forgot he has been busy since yesterday. There is an upcoming event next week, so he’s in charge of organizing the paperwork and planning.

‘Right…’ you carefully slid the door close and went on finding other things to do. Roaming around the estate wasn’t that fruitful as you still feel… empty.

If only the weather was good, you'd already be walking outside by now… it doesn’t matter if Ayato was there or not… even his company would not be enough to quench this boredom inside of you.

‘Still… If he showed up right now-’ you thought while you walked along the hallway but surprisingly as if the archon had magically answered your thoughts, that same person walked in.

“Ayato? You’re back early?” you quickly greeted him.

He softly hummed a reply.

“Great! Do you want to drink some tea together?” you excitedly suggested. At least, if you can’t go outside, it wouldn’t be that bad to have a leisure time with him.

“Sounds nice” He smiled. “...but not right now. I still have some paperwork, maybe later tonight?” he suggested.

“Right… of course” you smiled as he nodded before hurriedly walks to his office.

Honestly you feel a little disappointed but it wouldn’t be rational to get overly depressed about that matter. After all, you know he’s genuinely busy with his duty. It’s good that he prioritizes work before leisure.

‘No matter, I’ll just wait when he’s not busy’ You thought, expecting that he’ll be done with work later tonight.

You leisurely ate dinner with Ayaka, finished reading halfway through a thick novel book, recited two poems, wrote down today’s journal and still… Ayato didn’t even get out of his office room. The servants had already sent in his dinner so you didn’t need to worry about him.

You, on the other hand, were feeling quite the opposite from earlier. The night was getting cold as you finally stood up feeling sad, thinking you’ve been completely forgotten.

‘It’s alright… It’ll be fine. Tomorrow’s a new day’ You slowly enlightened yourself to avoid those negative feelings. The last thing you’d want was to cry like an idiot because of such childish reasons.

The next day, you spend the day all by yourself again… same goes with the next, and the day after. You’d see him sometimes during random hours of the day but of course just like before he barely even got the time to reply to you. Eventually even after the rainy days stopped, even after you’d get to spend a whole day outside, you still feel… empty.

‘If he can’t even have the time to eat dinner with me… why even bother staying here?’ You nonchalantly thought. Is it normal to feel this lonely even when you’re living under the same roof with him?

“I’d rather be somewhere else” you read the last sentence from the book’s contents before closing it. The book itself was reflecting what you felt, which certainly adds a certain slap of sadness in your soul.

Perhaps you were inspired by that book or maybe you it was just you… because you ended up avoiding him whenever you see him returning from work. No greetings, skip your dinner on certain days, spend a lot of time outside with your friends to the point of not returning at all and sometimes you’d be staying at your own residence. Not that all of these make you feel any better but at least there’s something fun to do… just so you can forget about being stuck inside a loop of discarded, meaningless, unimportant person. At least that’s just how you’d exaggeratedly feel right now.

It’s been a week since then, you were walking back to the estate with a certain degree of peace in mind but suddenly from a distance, you can already see a figure. Not the guards but the estate’s owner himself was leaning against the gate. He probably has spotted you even before you noticed him.

“Why didn't you return last night?” he asked directly without sugarcoating his sentence.

“Oh… you noticed?” You initially thought of ignoring his question but giving a reply wouldn’t be that bad… especially when you’re in this situation.

He sighed before pulling you along with him back to the estate. Perhaps starting an argument outside of the gate would have already been a sight for the guards. Not that you mind though…

“I’m just worried” he admits as he made you sit opposite him at the tea table by the porch.

“Sorry…” you nonchalantly replied without much emotion, barely even looking at him.

Based on your actions, Ayato knows you’re not being yourself. As if possessed by a malicious yokai, he could barely understand why you’re acting this way?

“Aren’t you busy?” you asked him but quickly added “I know you are… go on, why are you wasting time here?” you smiled before casually poured yourself a cup of green tea.

He swiftly took the cup away from you, as he sat there suddenly bringing his face closer to yours.

“What is it? Tell me right now” He demands without averting his gaze away from your eyes.

Unlike a prisoner who was hesitant to confess their wrongdoings you solemnly spoke your thoughts to him.

“You have a lot of time for work, but not so much for happiness”

“You didn’t keep your promise, you didn’t at least eat dinner with me, you didn’t even spend five minutes talking with me… is it my fault to feel this way? Is a relationship supposed to be this distant? Is it supposed to be normal for you?” unconsciously you bombard him with more questions.

He calmly listens to you, unfazed as if he was hiding something or perhaps knew about it all along? You couldn’t tell what he was concluding in his brain but you still hoped it wasn't something that could hurt you even more than how you’re feeling right now.

Ayato lightly laughs, unable to hide his own amusement that you didn’t know anything about because this situation certainly wasn’t something to make fun of… unless, if it’s really your last day staying here…

“Of course not” He suddenly became serious again as he suddenly stood up just to circle around the tea table, taking the seat next to you.

“It’s not your fault” He whispered before bringing you into his secure hold.

“Are you making fun of me?!” you try to escape away, feeling displeased by the way he has just laughed at you moments before.

“I’d be feeling the same way too, you know… a day without you feels… empty” he calmly spoke, while effortlessly keeping you stay in between his hold. His hand was behind your head while the other was by your shoulder.

“Liar” you argued back.

“Life is a series of events strung together like a phrase of a sentence… Do you want me to continue?” He asked with much confidence in his voice.

Unforeseen by you, Ayato recites the poem you’ve previously written. You haven’t shown it to anyone, especially to him because he was always busy so it wouldn’t be possible that he knows?

“How do you know that?” you asked, feeling a little curious.

He laughs as he finally releases you, letting you see his face.

“I was going to invite you to the festival yesterday, buy some new novels for you to read but you didn’t return. Since you were just staying at your own residence…”

He seems to know that you’ve also finished reading the book you’ve been reading as if you’ve told him about it yourself.

“You… You asked someone to spy on me? Didn’t you?” You try to make wild guesses.

“They’re guards, you know that and it’s for your safety” he quickly explained.

“Not that. It’s about the books I read and the poems… how do you know that?” Once again you question him about his acknowledgment about those little details.

“Well… you do know we share the same bedroom, right?” he casually spoke.

“So?” you still couldn't make any sense of what he’s trying to say.

“Did you ever sleep properly this past week?” he asked again, as if he didn’t have the answer to your questions.

You carefully recalled the things you’ve been doing before… you’d usually sit by the room’s side table to read or write before getting to bed and most likely fell asleep but for some reason… you’ll end up comfortably inside the covers when getting up the next morning.

“Sorry for troubling you then… I must’ve drained your precious time” Even if he carried you and tucked you in bed, he still doesn’t spend at least five minutes with you.

He sighed, seemingly still unable to redeem himself. “You said, I have a lot of time for work, but not so much for happiness… then what if I tell you that I still think about you even while I do my duties?”

“What if it’s just you saying this to make me feel better?” you argued back with another doubt in mind.

“It’s true…” He worriedly exclaimed, hoping you would believe him.

You sighed, his words could barely erase the sadness you were feeling right now.

If only you know… If only you’re not a heavy sleeper… perhaps you’d get to even listen to him complaining about how tired he was every day. How he wished he was better at managing his work, just so he can finish it in a second and spend more time with you.

He still remembers the promise he made. That night, he tried so hard to figure out the problem that everyone expected him to solve and it took him a while but eventually he was able to overcome it. He excitedly walked out from his office only to realize that it was already late at night. He was too late, you were already asleep by the room’s side table. Ayato quietly sat next to you for a long while, observing you, listening to your calm breathing. He sadly smiled before whispering an apology for breaking his promise.

If he was to admit it, perhaps even you would feel the second hand embarrassment. The way he didn’t miss every opportunity to hold you every night. No matter what position you were sleeping, he’d be holding you close by his side. Even if he couldn’t talk with you, it was enough for him. Ayato knows you’ll definitely call him clingy if you’d ever woken up because of him but fortunately you never woke up.

It’s also why he's feeling nothing but energized during his work hours. Unbeknown to you, you're Ayato’s lifeline, his one and only happiness. During those nights when you were absent, he could barely sleep as if he suddenly had insomnia. He too, knows of this feeling… that feeling when you’re not by his side. Perhaps… if he directly talks about these things with you… and just makes things clear.

“Let me tell you something”

A/N: I can't even imagine how bad it would be if Ayato really did act like that for no reason. I'd rather make reader leave him for sure (just like the lyrics would be) but writing a breakup is too painful... Reader deserves the world.

it's really, really good <3 i rewatched it this week, also started watching revenge of others, i'm on ep 2 and i am HOOKED <3 it's basically about a girl who transfers to her brother's school in an attempt to find his killer (who pushed him out of a window) >:( i feel like i know who the killer may be but i'm probably wrong :(

Intro & My take on KM

Hi!

I’m new around here so it’s supposed to be (not so short) introduction, since I don’t know how to start a blog heh. I hope to sprinkle my 0.5 cents into the KM conversation and maybe to bring a new perspective from someone, who is not a part of the typical English-speaking West.

Who /the hell/ Am I?

(please, consider it to be said with NJ’s voice from Intro: Persona :D)

I was born in Siberia (it’s in the Asian part of Russia), currently live in the European part of the country while studying at a Uni (European in terms of geography, not in terms of everything else i’m definitely not shading rn lolllll). English is not my first language, I’ve just kind of learnt it to some extent. Due to this it takes me more time to write a post; and I may (and will) make some grammatical & other mistakes. Plus I’m lazy AND busy with Uni, so I won’t even promise to be consistent in posting smth lol. But I thought I need more practice in terms of writing in English, so here I am, actually scribbling something. This feels weird, because I’ve been around stan Tumblr since 2015, but never ever interacted, just read.

How I ended up around Jikook/Kookmin (and BTS) & My (long&messy) take on this matter

Although I had heard of BTS before, I became an Army only in October 2018. I had kinda avoided them, because you know... boybands.... sing songs about romantic love and how they love girls.......... (+I had been around Twitter when 1D been at their peak and I remember a quite toxic community of fans, whom always had scared me). Shortly, hello stereotypes. Obviously, after I got engaged I felt terribly sorry that I had been sleeping on them, but what is done cannot be undone.

Someone I knew back then reposted one of their MVs and I, during my sad hours of procrastination, decided to watch it. Then I saw their live performance with the same song. And I thought “wow these guys can sing and dance and the music is kinda cool, i need to check this out maybe??”

Then a funny thing happened. One of the next videos I watched (the same person had it added to their page) was a 2016 BangtanBomb where JM and JK practiced their Coming of Age dance.

Do you know this moment with Gina from the 1st episode of Brooklyn 9-9:

Well, that was precisely me after I watched it. I don’t even know how to explain this, it was kind of a gut feeling? Whatever you call it, I started to get suspicious and couldn’t even explain to myself why. /actually now a do have questions to this vid and the main one - why does everyone cringe that much? if it’s a girly choreo than they had done some “girly” moves before. why is there such strong reaction??/

I started to get deeper and went to some ru-shipper communities. Shipping culture among Russian speaking fans is... well, weird to some extent, but I maybe address this topic some time later. You need to consider that (as far as you probably know) Russia is quite homophonic country and sadly is not the greatest place for LGBTQ+ community at the moment. The non-frienly influential attitudes hanging in the society + the general shippers’ weirdness = the result is not that nice honestly.

I struggled for some time in order to find more mature people (not just in terms of age but in general sanity), failed, ended up with some EXTREMELY toxic ru-fans of TK, which was/is the most popular pairing here, spent among them like 15 minutes and ran away horrified. After that I didn’t even try to engage with shippers or believers or whatever of any pair and just decided to enjoy the music and the content (which is a great idea, highly recommend!)

After a couple of days I discovered that JK makes videos. I love video, films and visual art so I immediately found them on YT, saw the titles with names of different cities from all over the world and was like “Oh that must be so cool, he’s visited so many outstanding places I’ve never been to, so I really need to watch it! I shall enjoy some beautyyy”. Then I clicked on GCFt.

Well, what can I say. I did enjoy some beauty, but not the type I had initially anticipated. The biggest clickbait in my entire life. JK should be proud of himself.

I had already known Troy back then and I known the song’s lyrics so it would not be an underestimation to say - the video just blew my mind. I was like - hold on is this real? seriously?? no really really????? he manage to get away with something THAT obvious?????? dude how

As a person who edited videos AND is not a native English speaker, I don’t buy the explanation “oh he mustve didnt get the lyrics lmao”. You just don’t do that. You don’t. DON’T. You google and translate every shit you don’t understand, every word and idiom you’ve never encountered, because otherwise the possibility of an epic failure is very likely. You wouldn’t want to give your mum a video as a birthday present and then discover that you used a song with WAP-ish lyrics, right? (well maybe that would be okay in your family, I don’t judge, but that’s not the case for people I know). So don’t you dare to degrade JK’s intellectual capacities; such assumption is really offensive. He is a smart boii, he knows exactly what he’s doing in terms of his art.

So I was shocked, but decided to look for the context - maybe I missed some previous events regarding this Tokyo thing (another great idea - always check the context). Well, apparently I didn’t, because the whole narrative with the trip for two, lovely selfies etc. made my poor brain lowkey explode. (I still don’t buy the rings theory thing though)

But I didn’t give up lol! I’m a bit stubborn and it’s very hard to convince me in anything, so I decided to search for more context, more of their interactions, moreeee. Remember, the late October 2018, there were no swan lakes, RB, and even MMA18 hadn’t happened yet.

This time I ended up watching content in more or less consistent way, and when I saw all of these scenes with affectionate JM and a cool badass i-don’t-care-about-anyone-i’m-a-manly-man-with-no-feelings-whatsoever JK, I just hysterically laughed.

Homophobic Russia, remember? I recognized this. Growing up here being LGBT myself, taught me the same type behaviour during my high school days. When a girl I kinda liked but didn’t what to admit it to myself was nice to me or (oh god) flirted with me, I did something similar. It’s like a huge panic mode. Being an introvert doesn’t help either. The funniest thing is that you may not entirely realise what exactly is going on in terms of your own feelings, especially at that age (16-18ish). In my personal case, I thought I liked her but as a friend, only later to realise that well not as a friend oops :DDD The second thing (already not so funny) is that you actually consciously or unconsciously try to avoid the subject as much as possible, as long as possible and pretend that nothing is going on. We’re just bros. Stop doing this stupid gayish thing and don’t look at me like that, you’re annoying. If you ever do this again I (gently) kick you. I’m straighter than a straight line in my math textbook. IDK, but probably that’s your brain is somehow trying to protect you. Again, in my case&position I knew that the consequences for any non-straight person being outed would be bad (TW not to the point of being killed bad, but to the point of being excluded from a big part of society). So for me it was a mixture of the internalized homophobia + lack of self reflection + just being a bit emotionally slow + very! straight community around. Shit happens, I was a teenager and made my share of mistakes, but that experience helps me to recognize the same pattern of behaviour up to this day.

So coming back to KM, because the post is already waaay too long and I just ramble. It’s been 2+ years for me being a part of this fandom, and what can I say... Things become more intense and eventful with every year passing by ;) Funny how I felt that vibe from the 2016 dance practice video. Seeing the Black Swan performance a week ago almost had me choked, no joking. They are amazing.

However, and I would like to emphasize that, I do not incline that KM are 100% romantically involved and/or gay or whatever. I tend to treat people with respect and not to make too much assumptions about their private life. That’s not my business. However, I’m also not a fan of heteronormativity, so I’m just sitting here and observe everything that’s going on putting some distance and not forgetting being generally polite and critical thinking. But if they are just straightest besties please give them an Oscar before Grammy

Anyways, I hope this blog won’t kick the bucket from the very start and I will post something every now and then. You can always ask me questions about some BTS/Jikook related stuff or something about Russia and a Russian view on mass culture topics, since I’m pretty sure some of you have very stereotypical view of what is going on here :) However, do note that I’ve never been to America or Europe, therefore I may not be aware of something verrrry obvious to you or just have a completely different experience.

P.S. And yeah, I’m used to say Jikook, since it’s the name which is used much more frequently in Russian. i like it better and what will u do haha

Arms open would fit anyone for sure but perhaps this song was chosen here and because it describes one of my personality traits, the will to help people in general. Conflicts are stressful so to avoid those, I try to compromise and bend and bend as far as possible and even if there was cloudy behind the scenes, I try to stay by my buddies’ side and I’ve told them many times “whenever you feel bad, text me or call me, if I can’t reply right away, I’ll catch you later”.

Shine by Kwan

Well, this song is somehow similar to the previous one because optimism is also one strong trait. Maybe this is even more #lifegoals. I mean, it’s really hard to read people or there mind and it’s extremely tricky to offer them the right tools to find the light at the end of their tunnel and this is something I face almost daily at work with the disabled youngsters. Some of them wrestle with their inner struggles and we try to help them.

So maybe this song pictures also my goal to see good in everyone. Of course, adulthood has forced me to see also the realities, I mean that at least at our work there are residents who are not feeling well and no matter how much we offer tools and helping hands, it’s hard to make them see the potential what they have but just like in civil life, I try to encourage people in all the ways I can and have resource to do that and try to find potential in everyone.

It’s obvious, that people have different kinds of way to describe the person they know. Funny enough, most of the acquaintances think I’m social and easygoing but just like with everyone else, there is more below the surface. Only the closest friends and my sister know that behind the smile and neverending optimism there is also a jar of insecurities, mostly due to the badly gone friendships in these past few years. Those unfortunate events released the old hounds that’s why this Irina’s song is still relatable (translated lyrics here [x]). A big part of released songs ever are mostly interpreted and associated with romantic relationships and it’s kind of cheesy, in my opinion, because after all, romance is indeed a biological need, mostly but also a cultural thing and yes most people want families but also people who don’t want and want to live without “the better” part shouldn’t be trashed for their decisions.

I’m not sure if the previous rant had anything real to do but anyway, Chasing cars is a song at least for me is to appreciate those small moments between the hectic life when I can just sit down and enjoy the company of my friends or family. All in all, very soothing from the melody to the lyrics and gives some relaxing vibes no matter how busy or tense the situation would be.

Sinun vaikka hajoat by Happoradio

I think I’ve namedropped this song before but this is the very best from this band. Lyrics are pretty poetic and beautiful (translation here [x]). Shortly said, it’s about standing by someone else’s side no matter how big their struggles were, true friendship, love and brother/sisterhood!

It’s a shame that I don’t know many Asian dramas because they seem to have beautiful musical compositions as their theme songs. Well, once upon a time there was a series called I’m Sorry, I Love You which was probably the first Kdrama I remember I saw. It had Park Hyo Shin’s version (translated here [x] and I first fell in love with the melody so had to later google it around and found that it’s a korean version of Mika Nakashima’s song (translation here [x]) and after listening them for many times, all I can say is that they are both good and give goosebumps *thumbs up*

Being meme trash who laughs at weird shiet, the internet is full of randomness and probably good example of this is these so-called “Buffalaxed” videos that are basically foreign songs getting “English” lyrics based on imagination and so on xD

It seems like this “translation” trend was more popular thing about 10 years ago and then came youtube poops but anyway I remember watching this with my mates every IT classes we had in high school and although it not as funny as then it’s still amusing and full of nostalgia xD

This is probably the dankest meme song I’ve ever heard and truly a spirit lifter no matter how many times someone spams me with this xD What makes it even more hilarious is that I asked my friend who speaks Russian that does the part before that legendary Hahahaha blblblblbl-part mean anything and she said “I came here (to sing)” XD

Following youtubers (not sure which is the right term but in Finnish we call them “tubettajat”) isn’t my thing because I’m very lazy, not just to follow but also to search great content funny animals are always exception and I really am annoyed how YT has changed throughout the years and for example, one reason I partly lost my interest to making amvs is that nowadays it’s hard to find audience and again the laziness is on the way to lure them back. In addition to that my old account got deleted and since the copyright thingies are strict, so I had to make a new channel [x] and in general, it’s just not that worthy I’m lazy to spend hours to make videos for a handful of views ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok, back to the main talk, Ryan Higa on one of the rarest Youtube accounts I check regularly. He has done lots of videos at approx. a decade and he definitely deserved to be the number 1 most subscribed channel. His sense of humor is amazing and how he makes the videos with his heart and he doesn’t need to overact or swear or disrespect others, unlike one certain channel that embarrassed whole America with that adventure of his that even reached the top page with scandalous click bait, just to get few views because he has natural talent to be a comedian and has an awesome gang to work with!

Even better is the fact that he is a king of puns and this song is undeniable the ultimate proof of that. Shortly said, he made his mom (who seemed to be precious person) “rap” a song. Higa deserves all the respect because like in his productions, this guy again made so much effort on this project and this song is definitely some good dang gold and everyone should see this at least once in their lives! *laughs*

After contemplating for a while, decided to embark on attempting to translate the novel of ALSB! Tbh I’m pretty terrified because it’s 60+ chapters of commitment and I’m not sure if I can even last five……….. Eeps, no promises!!

Also I’m still working on improving sentence structure and arranging the english translation in coherent sentences when doing translations, please do bear with my being a total utter novice ):

Chapter 1

Comrade Old Chen, aka my dad, retired officially this year in February. Old Chen who had been working tirelessly for his entire life couldn’t sit still after staying at home for half a month, and coincidentally the Senior Citizens Club in the county was recruiting members, so he went. Once he went, he realised that he at fifty-plus years of age was considered to be youthful and the backbone in the Senior Citizens Club where the average age was seventy years. Hence, Old Chen’s enthusiasm that had laid dormant for a long while was set aflame. Everyday, he would ride his bicycle and go to the Senior Citizens Club to organise entertainment activities for the elderly. That wave of enthusiasm was an entire time of burning passion.

Except that before his passion had burnt time, time/his years (on in age) first made a display of strength and authority. He, that old man, while climbing a stool to hang up an event banner, stepped off into air and fell.

I received my mum’s phone call just as I was standing by the main road looking at the advertisment signboards, and was so frightened that my whole body was covered in cold sweat though it was a really hot day. Even though I was always being beaten by Old Chen when I was small, and I had also thought of beating Old Chen when I grew up, but I really did love Old Chen.

While rushing to the hospital, I was crying while long-windedly telling the taxi driver about all the good things about my dad, till the 7-feet-tall robust-looking taxi driver was extremely moved. The whole journey, he was stepping down on the accelerator to its maximum extent; when I paid the fee he took the initiative to round down the fee. He said, “Girl, remember my car’s license plate number, XXXX, next time, please don’t flag down my car anymore, I have an extremely long-winded wife and mother at home, so once I hear someone chatter on I tremble. Please forgive me, and I hope your dad recovers soon.”

……

When I reached the hospital, crying, my mum so happened to be paring apples while scolding my dad. “An old skeleton like you, the backbone?! If you fall one more time I’ll directly push you to be burnt, you can upgrade from being the backbone to being bone ashes.”

I clutched the doorframe, tears pooling in my eyes. “Mum, how is Dad?”

Mum lifted her head and took a look at me. “Tch, take back your tears. What are you crying for? I raised you up with a hand full of faeces and a hand full of urine (NOTE: meaning to endure all kinds of hardship), not for you to have a hand full of snot and a hand full of tears the moment you encounter some problem.”

I took back my tears, and went to greet that old fellow who had been bullied long-term. “Dad, are you alright?”

My dad anxiously gazed at the apple in mum’s hand. “Not alright. Your mum has pared three apples already, and has not even given me one to eat.”

I saw that I wouldn’t be able to get an answer about what exactly had happened from their mouths, so I simply picked up the thermos bottle and said, “I’m going to get some hot water.”

I carried the thermos bottle and made a beeline for the inquiry counter, not caring about my mum who was shouting at me from behind, “This damned child, the bottle is full!”

Perhaps my appearance was overly malevolent, for the nurse quickly got a doctor to come over. The doctor, with zero emotion on his face, related my dad’s circumstances to me. He said that my dad had fallen on his waist, and his backbone was now pressing against a nerve – basically that my dad needed to be operated on, and that I was to prepare 30000 RMB.

I asked some more questions about the specific details of the situation. The doctor looked at me and said, “Even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand. Just prepare the money and leave everything else to us doctors.”

I asked again, “Then when can we do the operation?”

He said impatiently, “Join the queue, when it reaches your turn, we’ll do it.”

I was itching to spit a large mouthful of thick phlegm on his face, then tell him, “I’m sorry, I have tuberculosis.”

But I couldn’t do that, I could only fish out a few hundred RMB from my pocket, and submissively shoved the money towards him. “Then I’ll have to trouble you to take care…”

He glared at me and pushed away the money. “What are you doing! I can understand your feelings as a family member of the patient, but this is not in line with the rules! If you do not feel reassured, I’ll just find some free time to explain the situation to you in greater detail.”

I was beside myself with guilt, thinking that I was really gauging the stomach of a gentleman with the heart of a vile person (NOTE: meaning to view the actions/intentions of a great person/gentleman through the lens of one’s own stingy/mean/evil worldview), the doctor was just naturally ill-tempered. Just as I was profoundly examining my own personal integrity, that doctor turned around to leave. Before he left, he lifted his chin and gave me a look. I pondered for a long time whether he was cramping or if there was another meaning behind that action, till I finally copied him and lifted my own chin, upon which I understood – there was a CCTV installed on the wall……

I was just about to ask the nurse where the office of that doctor was when my phone rang. When I took out my phone and had a look, my heartbeat sped up like stepping on the accelerator while going downhill, I almost wanted to go to the cardiology department and register (to see a doctor).

Jiang Chen, my ex-boyfriend.

Trembling, I reverently answered the phone. “Hello?”

After saying hello for a long while, I could only hear a bunch of assorted random noises. It seemed like he had accidentally pressed his phone. I was about to hang the phone up when I heard a sweet female voice. She was saying, “Doctor, my chest hurts.”

It was only then that I recalled – Jiang Chen was a doctor, and he reportedly was a little famous now too. I hung up the phone and agonised for ages, finally deciding that rather than staying here experiencing the dark side of my home country’s medical industry, I might as well transfer to the hospital where Jiang Chen was. At least on account of how I had peeled thousands of tea eggs (NOTE: a common Chinese food - tea-infused eggs!) for him back in the day, he more or less had to show some consideration, right……

When I returned, I told my mum about this matter. She asked, “Is Jiang Chen that child that you had a case of puppy love with?”

Uh… the points you remember sure are unfathomable.

Mum asked again, “If we transfer to the hospital he’s at, will he help? What I’m saying is, do the two of you still have mutual affection?”

That sure was a question that hit the nail on the head. I stammered, “He definitely will help… It’s just that…”

“Just what?”

“It’s just that this seems a little like ‘that which scissors cannot sever, and, sorted out, is tangled again.’” (NOTE: a line from a poem “Crows cawing at night” by Song dynasty poet, Li Yu. Refers to one being unable to make a clean break, allowing feelings/emotions to fester. Translation for this line taken from “A Book of Chinese Verse” by A. R. Davis)

The old lady scoffed disdainfully. “Stop dragging literature in when talking to me, if you can’t sever it, shave it off completely! You will contact him now, and get your father to transfer hospitals tomorrow. I cannot endure these bastard doctors here anymore.”

I was originally depending on my mum to tell me with great affection, “Child, we must have backbone. We won’t provoke ex-boyfriends.” Sure enough, I had overestimated my mum.

Jiang Chen didn’t express any astonishment when he answered my phone call. I guess doctors are all like that, having seen and grown accustomed to great winds and waves (NOTE: meaning turmoil, dangers and difficulties). Corpses and internal organs all don’t scare him, how could he possibly be scared by me, an ex-girlfriend?

Stammering, I told him about the circumstances, and lastly said, “Can my dad transfer to your hospital?”

“Sure.” His reply was forthcoming and direct, causing me to be too embarrassed to bring up the matter of me peeling tea eggs for him.

He then said, “Prepare all the items, I’ll get a vehicle to fetch your dad to transfer hospitals right away.”

After that he was silent for a moment, before asking me, “Are you alright?”

Alright.

After hanging up the phone, I clutched my chest and leaned against the corridor wall, panting heavily. Beside me, a young nurse came over to support me. “Is anything the matter?”

I shook my head, feeling extremely gratified that I had at long last seen a ray of humanity in this hospital.

She continued speaking. “Who were you giving a call to on the phone just now? It seems like you are going to transfer hospitals? Which hospital management do you know? Can you introduce me to go there? I still have one more month till the end of my internship, and I haven’t found a hospital to hire me, can you help me, my grades are actually really good, it’s just that I am unwilling to sleep with the hospital directors…”

Faced with her pestering, I was truly at a loss, and could only say, “Actually the person I called was the cleaner of Centre Hospital, I agreed to sleep with him before he agreed to help me ask if it was possible to transfer hospitals.”

……

Three hours later, Jiang Chen brought an ambulance and whizzed into my presence. I had not seen him for three years, yet I didn’t even dare to raise my head to look at him properly. I only continuously stared at what was probably a really expensive fountain pen that was inserted into his white coat pocket, thinking if he had learnt how to write a doctor’s script yet.

While we were studying in university, I was always worrying for Jiang Chen, afraid that with his pretty-looking regular script, he would be unable to establish himself in the doctors’ circle. In order for him to practise and achieve a handwriting that would allow him to evade responsibility even if he wrote a wrong prescription, I had once forced him to copy my handwriting, but regretfully, he never managed to learn the true essence of my handwriting.

Jiang Chen handled the discharge and hospitalisation procedures all by himself. My mum and I had nothing to do, so the both of us, each with an apple in hand, squatted at the hospital entrance and chatted.

Mum said, “That young lad is worthy of having me watch him grow up, he’s really not bad.”

I expressed my contempt for her shameless conduct in attributing that young lad being not bad to her watching him grow up.

She then said, “Such a decent good, how did you miss out on him back in the day? It was clearly almost about to succeed.”

I took a bite of my apple. “Dad is all alone in the ambulance and bored, you should go and eat an apple for him to watch.”

Mum gave a long sigh and diligently ran towards the car. As she ran, she shouted, “Old fogey, your daughter made me come and eat apples for you to watch.”

Jiang Chen so happened to see this scene as he came out holding receipts of all sizes. Smiling, he looked at me. “You sure are filial.”

I raised my head to look at him. He was standing in front of me, half-stooped and lowering his head to look at me. His hair ends drooping low were bathed in a soft glow in the morning light. He smiled at me easily (NOTE: referring to ease that comes with much experience), with a deep dimple squeezed in his left cheek, as if it was just yesterday that we had a meal and watched a movie together.

I averted my gaze. This was a dimple of great evil. Back in the day, my little heart of affection was intoxicated precisely by this dimple. Thinking back now, I just felt that I had been defrauded by that tiny pit on his face.

Ever since I could remember, Jiang Chen’s existence was as matter-of-fact and expected as the electric pole at the entrance of the alleyway. He stayed in the building opposite my house, and was the mayor’s son. He was class monitor, had good looks, could play the piano, could write calligraphy, had good grades, and spoke pleasant-sounding Putonghua/Mandarin.

Television and novels would term a boy and girl who lived near each other since young like us as green plums and toy horse (NOTE: a Chinese idiom meaning childhood sweethearts), in addition, this was generally divided into two categories – the first was the type that were kind to and loved each other, with the two people being as close as siblings, scooping out a hornet’s nest together and getting stung by hornets together, stealing sweet potatoes together and getting beaten up together, till they suddenly look back and realise that their friendship had long since slowly progressed to love; the other type was those who hate each other, with the two of them fighting each other, tit for tat, where seeing the other from afar would make one just itch to rush forward and bite the other, where once one seized the opportunity, they would pull out the other’s bicycle gas valve, till they grew up and suddenly realise – ah, so this is love.

Unfortunately, Jiang Chen and I were neither of the above, for an endlessly long time, he and I were just neighbours who stayed opposite each other. Everyday, he would play his piano, and I would read my Chibi Maruko Chan comic with great relish. Occasionally if I forgot the contents of my homework, I would go and press his house’s doorbell. He was always very mocking, and would say impatiently, “Why didn’t you remember it yourself?” Perhaps it was because I was begging him for a favour, so I never bickered with him. But then again it’s also entirely possible that it’s due to me not liking to bicker with people since young. I as a person am extraordinarily unperturbed.

During the summer between Junior 2 and Junior 3, our class secretly organised an outdoor cooking activity after exams behind our teacher’s back. During the outdoor cooking, Jiangchen and I were allocated to wash the sweet potatos. There were 40 people in the class and we bought 44 sweet potatoes. Jiang Chen washed the first four, then stood to one side entertaining himself by skipping stones.

I squatted by the lakeside vigorously suppressing my rage as I washed the sweet potatoes. Just as my anger was rising while I was washing, a small slab of stone landed in front of me, splashing my whole face with water. When I raised my head however, Jiang Chen had assumed an air of nonchalance, as if nothing had ever happened. He raised his hand, and the stone landed on the water surface, making four beautiful consecutive skips. The water surface broke out into ripples of all sizes, colliding as they shimmered apart.

According to reason, I should scold him; splash him with water; dunk his head into the water; or push him into the lake to drown.

But I didn’t do any of that, I only stared at him in a total daze.

The light breeze lifted his somewhat loose white school uniform; the sunshine leapt on his eyelashes and hair ends, creating golden halos; his slightly-quirked lips pursed, creating a proud dimple on his left cheek.

Time and space froze, leaving only my furiously thumping heart.
