i just someone compare eddie’s street fighting to chimney hitting buck, saying if you forgive eddie you have to forgive chim, so i just need to say this one time and get it out of the way. you cannot compare these two situations. they are so different from each other, and i think it’s absurd to try and act like they are one in the same.
(this not to say that i think neither of them shouldn’t be forgiven. it was a rough time in both of their lives and they were struggling with their mental health. i don’t think either of them should be vilified for what happened. mental health is not black and white, and it goes along with my stance that society has a gross habit only supporting people who struggle with mental health if their struggles and their reactions to those struggles fit into this box that they’ve curated.)
that being said, the situations on which these events happened are so different, and the context really does matter. as wrong as it is for both them to have resorted to physical violence, and hurting other people to express their anger, in eddie’s case, both parties were consenting to being in a fight. both parties knew what they were getting into, and they were expecting to take hits. not to mention, these people were strangers. they did not consider each other family, they did not have any personal relationships with each other. that does not excuse being violent, but it does make it easier for the audience to accept because they don’t have close connections. we did not know these people eddie was fighting, so it made it easier to move on from. eddie also got closure. we got to see him fully understand how bad it had gotten, fully understand the consequences of what he was doing. we saw him heal.
in chimney and buck’s case, buck was trying to fulfill his promise to his older sister. someone who took care him and loved him when no one else did. someone he fully trusts and loves. someone he admires and looks up to, and even loyal to a fault to. so when he explains this to chimney, he fully assumed that chimney would understand because chimney also knows maddie. maddie is his family, and with that, so is buck. way back in s4x05, buck even tells chimney that maddie puts people in tough spots and he understands why chimney didn’t tell him about his brother. he thought chimney would understand that, he was not expecting to get hit. he was not expecting someone he loves and considered family to get physically violent with him. he did not consent to that. and because these are two characters we all fell in love with, and because we saw how close they have become over the years and how they view each other as family, it makes it that much harder to accept that they would ever lay hands on each other.
buck and chimney never got onscreen closure. we never saw a reconciliation between them. a talk where they both got to air their grievances, and come to a mutual understanding. we never got chimney apologizing for hitting buck, or really seeing the consequences of his actions. we never even got a scene of maddie and chimney talking it out, or maddie explaining that it wasn’t really buck’s fault, and that she had asked him not to say anything. it was all resolved off screen, and the audience was forced to accept that it was over, that they settled it, with no real tangible resolution.
it’s not because people are “babying buck”. people would have been upset had chim hit any of the 118, because we see these characters as a family, and it hurts to see a family who we all know love and cherish one another, hurt each other. these situations are not the same, and to treat them as such shows a complete fundamental lack of understanding. neither character should be vilified for that, again. if you are vilifying them, i also think that demonstrates a lack of understanding, but they just cannot be compared. at least not in the way that people are trying to compare them.

i've seen a lot of ppl talking about buck and eddie both getting knocked out during the storm and eddie wakes up relatively quickly in the hospital and the firefam's there and he sees that buck is missing and is like "oh and buck is with chris right? where is he?" and the others just look at each other not knowing how to tell him that buck's in a coma and i just—
can you just imagine tho, eddie in that hospital bed and he can't get up and even when he tries bobby and chim and hen are there to stop him and no one would tell him really what the hell happened except that buck is in a fucking coma and all they can do is wait.
and eddie just wants to see him, make sure he's alive and that he still exists bc most days buck feels like a pipe dream, something too good to be true and eddie's losing his mind.
and then—
it's late at night and his hospital room is so quiet, hen is in a chair next to his bed and she's sleeping and eddie loves her but all he can think about is that usually is another person who sits next to eddie's bed when he's hurt, another person who holds his hand and reassures him he'll take care of chris while eddie can't.
the tv is a soft, barely there background noise as it casts a dim light over the room, but when he looks up it's the news are playing back what happened earlier and he sees the moment the lightning strikes, sees the moment eddie himself almost falls... sees buck falling from the ladder truck and hitting his head against the side—
"buck" he gasps without even realizing, the name falling from his lips like a plea, like a prayer begging to be heard.
"buck." eddie chokes out as his mind replays the fall in slow motion.
eddie was supposed to have buck's back. eddie was supposed to save him.
hen wakes up and eddie quickly realizes he's hyperventilating, struggling to take a deep breath and tears are streaming down his face with no way to stop them.
he's having a panic attack. he hasn't had one of those in a long time, eddie thinks almost absentmindedly.
"eddie hey, it's okay." hen redts a hand on his shoulder and tries to calm him down but it doesn't feel right— her hand is too heavy on eddie's shoulder, and it's not the right side. It's too soft, too—
It's no buck's.
"i need to see him." he manages to blurt out the in between gasps. "hen, let me see him. please." he begs and his voice is shaky and breaking by the last word. it sounds pathetic and desperate even to his own ears but eddie can't bring himself to care at that moment.
his heart is beating too fast, unforgiving against his ribcage, his hands are trembling and eddie—
he just needs to see him.
it takes a while and the nurses are definitely not happy with himself— once again, eddie doesn't have it in him to care.
especially when he's put in a wheelchair (he doesn't need it but he's picking his battles carefully right now) and taken to see buck.
his hospital room is a lot like eddie's but maddie is sprawled on the chair next to the bef, with red puffy eyes and hair a mess.
she looks exactly like how eddie feels inside, if he's being honest, and for a moment he feels a kind of weird keenship to her.
they both would do anything for buck. they both hate to see buck hurt.
"i'll give you some time with him." she smiles tiredly and then she's living the room along with hen and the nurse who wheeled him in.
eddie swallows hard and reaches out for buck, his hand immediately resting against buck's...
buck's hand is cold to the touch, when usually it would be warm.
it's still, when usually it would be squeezing eddie's right back.
it's pale and small against the sheets and eddie feels like he might throw up.
"please wake up." he whispers, but in the quiet of the room it sounds loud and oh so desperate. "please don't leave me."
and eddie— there's so many words he needs, wants to say. so many things he needs to get out, so many things he needs buck to hear...
but for now they stay lodge inside his chest.
for now, he keeps them to himself but he hopes he'll have the chance to say them out loud someday.
he hopes buck will want to hear them.

9-1-1 head canons that I fully believe in:
Buck hasn’t been back to the pier since the tsunami and still has nightmares about it
Buck unironically calls Athena ‘mom’
Eddie drunk texts the entire 118 group chat about how much he loves Buck and vice versa
After the ladder incident, Bobby often calls to check on Buck, even at night because he can’t go to sleep if he doesn’t know that his adopted son is safe
May is in charge of the 118’s Instagram page and will post the most ridiculous things and pictures of the crew
Athena and Eddie are actually pretty close
After the well incident, Eddie can’t sleep unless the lights are on because he’s scared of being alone in the dark
Hen gives the softest and warmest hugs
Maddie and Eddie call each other once a week to catch up on the drama at dispatch
Eddie and Buck have been secretly dating since 4 x 14
Harry and Denny have constant sleepovers, driving their mothers up the walls with all of their crazy ideas
Bobby changed the flooring on his and Athena’s patio after Buck’s collapse because all he could think about when he was out there, was Buck nearly dying (again)
Everyone loves Buck’s random facts even tho they never know what to expect
Chim apologized to Buck for punching him in the face (like hello why was that never a thing??)

Hi, hi, hello, I am here once again to sound absolutely insane while arguing something buddie, this time from Buck's side because I haven't done one on him in a while. I think this is a Buck needs to choose defense, but who knows really ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay, I've talked about this before, but Oliver is a really big guy, he's taller than the rest of the cast so we don't see Buck looking up a whole lot. In conversations where Buck would be in a more vulnerable position, they put all of the involved sitting down so they are on the same eye level, when he tells Abby about the catfish guy, when he talks to Maddie after the bombing, when he talks to Maddie after Red dies, when he finds out about Daniel, when he talks to Maddie after the thing with Jonah, when he talks to Bobby after the lightning.
Tumblr media
Or they're both standing up, when he talks to Bobby before he quits before the tsunami, when he talks to Bobby after the lawsuit, when he tells Bobby he is one of the most important people in his life, when he tells Eddie about the fight with his parents, when he talks to Bobby after the crane, when he’s helping Eddie fix the walls (as I was typing this I noticed the trend of having him sitting down with Maddie and standing up with Bobby, which makes sense considering how much shorter than Oliver Jennifer is and how Oliver and Peter are just a few inches apart).
Tumblr media
Or they have Buck being the only one standing up, or just at a higher level, so that he has the high ground in sense, when he tells the 118 about the thing with Daniel, when he yells at his parents, when he talks to Maddie after he messes up with Red, when he breaks up with Taylor, but it is a trend to not have him look up at people. (All of these have more examples, I just didn't feel like screenshotting every major Buck scene lol)
Tumblr media
People he does look up to in vulnerable moments, moments actually end up leading to a fight? Ali and Taylor. He looks up at Ali when she's talking about not understanding what the job means and when he tells Taylor he kissed someone else. So he looks up at his love interests. Before a fight, but still looking up. Ali is the most intense example I could find in my quick skimming of the scenes I could think of, but since Taylor is standing up and he's sitting down, it counts.
Tumblr media
This does nothing for my point but I do want to point it out. He looks up at Eddie before the confrontation at the gym lol. Sure that ends with Buck towering over Eddie, but it starts with him looking up at him and fits the trend (or actually starts it? Considering this happens before Ali or Taylor lol).
Tumblr media
I could be wrong here, maybe there are other moments where he's looking up and I just can't think of them right now, but Eddie is pretty much the only person he consistently looks up to, when he clears with Bobby for Chris to stay at the station (not about him but he's looking up), the Hildy incident (this one is just funny but it happens), when he tells Eddie it would’ve been better if he had been shot, after Chim leaves to look for Maddie, after he dies. And it's interesting to have those last two scenes because he's going to Eddie for advice and they decided to literally have him look up at Eddie.
Tumblr media
Conversations with Eddie fit all types of categories when it comes to the two of them because they are best friends, just focus on these ones tho (you can read this for thoughts on framing in multiple scenes tho)
"But Anna you've said this before in at least 3 different posts already" I know, I know, and I have a point, I promise.
I like taking season 6 knowledge and recontextualizing the previous seasons. What does Buck want in season 6? Answers. From the dude at the happiness convention to “I’m the guy with the answers, I kinda like that”. But it’s not crazy to say that Buck has been looking for whatever this answer is his whole life, but the main thing is that Buck keeps looking for answers outside of what he already has, the choice he makes is to look for something else to make things make sense and for someone else to tell him so he can pretend he's not responsible for the consequences. There’s a whole other discussion here and I was talking about this yesterday, but Buck doesn’t really make choices in his life (bisexual king 🫶), he fell into firefighting, he tripped into every relationship he had, he didn’t pick his apartment, he still hasn’t picked a couch.
Okay, but why does that relate to the whole looking-up thing? I don’t know if this makes sense, but I think in a way he expects Eddie to have the answers in a way that’s a bit, not excessive, but like, bordering on too much? Like, for example, the way he takes what Eddie tells him before the tsunami and runs with it, the whole just move on thing that he is still doing (I’m kinda fascinated about the way that the end of the cemetery conversation gives the same message that Eddie tried to push onto him there and we all know how that ended for Eddie), the whole “somehow we manage to just suck it up, why can’t you?” and “a lot of I’s in there” and “you’re making it about you? again?” that does make Buck act as if having feelings about traumatic events means he’s making it about himself, makes him selfish, that makes him act as if he needs just to push through. He keeps following Eddie’s lead at all times. And I think that is something that needs to be addressed in some way before they can have a relationship. I do think post-lawsuit Eddie is trying, post-therapy Eddie is trying even harder to not lead them wrong or dismiss Buck’s feelings, and if Eddie asked Buck out, chances are he would say yes, but it would leave the question of whether he’s just following Eddie’s lead. Because Buck keeps tripping into relationships. We don't see him ask anyone out, we don't see Buck make the decision. The only way to fight this is to have Buck be the one to march to Eddie and go “I want this, do you want me?” and hope he’s doing the right thing while knowing he is the one who went for it.
And like, I don’t really think Eddie would ask Buck, not for lack of wanting, but because he runs from fights he’s not sure he can win, dude retreats back to safety like no one else, and taking a leap with Buck is not safe. But, hey, we’re supposed to believe Buck is the one who keeps running into unsafe situations, so sure, have Buck do it.
And I think the cemetery can be used as a start for that, because Buck keeps trying to get Eddie to tell him what to do, he keeps looking at Eddie and waiting for him to just give him the answers, but Eddie already retreated from the fight, he’s all “whatever you say, bud” so Buck thinks he’s doing something Eddie agrees on, but what Eddie wants is the opposite, the shift in the way Eddie is handling that conversation is really obvious and to have Buck go against it could be used in an interesting way.
And the cemetery scene itself opposes the whole looking-up thing because Eddie refuses to keep looking at Buck while Buck keeps poking him to get him to look. Buck is all “*tugging on his sleeve* tell me I'm right tell me I'm right tell me I’m right” and Eddie is all “you’re right buddy *narrators voice* he doesn’t think he’s right at all”.
Tumblr media
And Eddie is locked out of making changes in the relationship in a sense, because Buck basically told him “this woman is the one” so why would he risk the friendship when Buck has made it clear what he wants? In Eddie's head, it's a fight that's already lost, so why would he jeopardize the part of the relationship he does have for something he thinks is hopeless?
But Buck doesn’t have that, I think right now, the power is in Buck’s hands, Buck needs to realize he has it and Buck needs to make the choice to use it.
Mr. Human Calculator I Have The Answers Now needs to accept that life has a level of unpredictability and go for it anyway. Start fighting the current he put himself in and getting the things he does wants not the things he thinks he should want.
Random rant about the cemetery if you feel like reading my thoughts on that.
Random post about Buck, water, and the way he just goes with it forever and ever.
Shorter post about why Buck needs to choose.
My tag for metas if you liked my brand of crazy. 🫶🫶🫶

*paces the room*
So I just finished season 5!
So MUCH happened I swear going back to look at the episodes synopsis’ for this post I was like… wait that was in this season too?!? I stayed up ALL night TWICE watching this season because I just couldn’t turn it off! It’s crazy that people didn’t like this season (like vehemently didn’t like it at least on Reddit… BUT they say they don’t like s6 because its Buck centric and he “needs to be more of a background character” sooooo clearly I won’t read too into their nonsense)
ANYWAY this season is possibly one of my favorites! From the hackers the gps wrecks and tower scare, the zoo breakout (THE ZOO BREAKOUT OMG… THE ALPACAAAAAAAS! And Buck being scared LOL) to Jeffrey escaping and then Athena’s whole story line following! I was terrified for her and for Harry and ACK!!!!
Maddie’s PPD and leaving arc was so heartbreaking and frustrating at the same time! And I felt so bad for Chim (and Buck) and baby Jee!
OMG the homecoming parade crash and the mixup I was so Heartbroken for them! :(
Claudette… :/ hated her and her ending… but mostly her
Of course Lucifer (spn) shows up as an extremely bad guy but he wants to play dad of the year (ok the guy here at least is thinking of his kid more than himself… but still PARALLELS!)
MICHAEL AND DAVID! I hated to see them go! And that montage had me all teary eyed during one of my all nighters!
Toni’s little love story <3 and the girls from the oil spill! <3<3
Eddie’s panic attacks and leaving the 118 was so sad! But I get it… I also know he will be back because I came from season 7 *shrugs* so it wasn’t too sad, yanno?
I love that everyone still came together for Christmas tho, i was like poor Bobby and Athena </3
Madney reunion… sort of </3 but again…. I know how this ends lol. Also JJ and Kate reunion (criminal minds)
The kiss might be the one thing I truly disliked from the season because it doesn’t really do anything beyond being annoying.
WHY DOES EVERYONE USE BOBBY’S PAST AGAINST HIM WHEN THEY ARE ANGRYYYYYYYYYYYYY :(
Well I have a fear of sauna’s now (and stop signs… and exercising)
The mom that falls saving her daughters had me BAWLING!
Bobby and May’s relationship is everything to me! And ack I knew I didn’t like Jonah
I take back my original assumption of Buck having the worst luck. It’s Chimney. What the hell. Give this man a raise and a vacation… some amazing life insurance and some bubble wrap. How he is alive is beyond me!!
THE LAST EPISODE
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH <3
Toni getting married, and the drama about her missing Hen and Karen’s wedding. Buck’s face when Maddie texts Chim first. Bobby </3 was not ok, but EDDIE CAME THROUGH! And when he poured the whiskey out I was whooop whoooping out loud! THEN THE WEDDING I love Toni so much omg and everyone coming! PLUS no more Taylor :) hahahaha (sorry i just never liked her)
(Omg the maggots in the hair might have too the cake as the worst thing to happen… at least visually… for me)
SEASON SIX HERE I COME! You better be all about Buck like the pissy people on Reddit said you are! And y’all, send me strength for that mid season finale i have seen it dozens of times but this is gonna be different and I have never been so prepared to be unprepared for something in my life! O.o

Maybe I’m missing something, but I really don’t get how people decided that the “If you love Tommy now, you’ll love even more by the end” si about Buddie, because to me it’s pretty obvious that Tommy is going to help Chim in some way.
And also, as a big Buddie shipper, 911 is not the Buddie show. Sometimes it’s like people only think storylines are worth it because of Buddie (I still remember how people criticized the Buck come dream as if it wasn’t important for Buck’s stroryline only because Eddie wasn’t in it and how disappointed Oliver was over this).
But if then, maybe, it made sense in a way (the episode was about Buck after all), the same things doesn’t apply here: it’s Madney’s episode, their wedding, their story! I love Buddie as much as the next person, but sometimes I just wish the fandom knew how to be less obnoxious about them
Completely agree anon.
I must add, tho, that I kinda understand the buddie shippers. I was the same way when it came to Sterek and Teen Wolf: nothing on the show really matters except for Derek banging Stiles.
I was so obsessed with them that I started stripping away every enjoyment I had while watching the show.
The only thing that made me stop and realize how a ship does NOT define a story was when I started hating Lydia for being Stiles' LI.
Like, how the heck can someone hate Lydia??? She's perfect. I hope buddie shippers realize this too about Tommy.
If bucktommy ain't end game (and I would sell my right arm for them to be), it's fine. I'm gonna survive. I won't hate Eddie. I love Eddie.

Tease Tidbit Tuesday
Tagged by @wikiangela 💖
So I haven’t shared in ages (pls keep tagging me tho it makes me so happy) because I have been so tired BUT uni finishes in like a month so after that I swear I’ll write more. Anyway here’s some more Buck running fic which is really depressing I think I was just sad when I wrote it… alas:
When Buck was a kid getting in trouble, getting hurt, meant someone paying attention. It meant someone would comfort him, acknowledge him, see him, even if it was only temporary. It meant somebody cared, even for just a moment. And that was all Buck had ever wanted.
And now Buck knows that there are people that care about him. He knows he has a family bound by something far greater than blood. He has Bobby, who he sees as a father-figure, someone who treated him far better than the one he’d had. He has Hen and Chim, people he sees as older siblings, there for him when Maddie couldn’t be. And he has Eddie, and Chris, the family he so desperately wants to complete. A man he loves too much and a boy he wishes was his own. He knows he has people who care about him and love him the way he should have been loved growing up, but he is just so scared. So scared that they will wake up one day and look him in the eyes and tell him to just shut up. Tell him that he’s too much and not enough and walk away like everyone always has.
It’s not that he doesn’t trust them, it’s just hard to feel differently when he’s watched it happen his whole life.
He wasn’t the son his parents wanted.
He wasn’t enough for Maddie to stay (he understands, he does, but sometimes it still hurts).
He was not enough for Abby.
Too much for Ali.
Even Eddie had called him out for it.
Exhausting exhausting exhausting.
Too much. Not enough. Too much not enough. Toomuchnotenoughtoomuch—
He’s trying so hard to be normal.
So he stays quiet and stops sharing his fun facts. So he’s there ready whenever anybody needs him. And he runs and runs and runs away from every other thought floating around in his head. And he tells himself it’s for the best.

Hi, baby, hope you're having a good day 🩷
But about Buck, Actually, no, the newlyweds call is not the last one, it is see me Norman, gas station, newlyweds, and then Thomas and Mitchell, with bathena and madney intertwined in the middle. I will definitely write something in more detail depending on the types of shots we get from the bachelor party, but madney has the whole bar sequence, the karaoke of it all, then the scene in Chim's apartment with the food and what Buck says that will quite literally describe buddie too as of 706 once we see the karaoke, and bathena is about Athena accepting the changes in the family that come with Michael dating? Like there's the dinner with Michael and the boyfriend and the kids and bathena (and then bathena gets engaged the next episode lol) that I kinda wanna argue you can parallel to outside looking in but I will have to rewatch both scenes again to make sure lol and well, the episode is very much a madney begins in a sense, we see the friendship and they talk about Maddie not being ready yet and we have a lot of parallels to draw if they are going that direction, even more with the whole repeat names and the Thomas/Tommy thing yk? I have to watch 706 for the thoughts to fully form tho ksoskspskspskapka I am losing my mind a little about it ngl
Hi baby, hope you are too🩷
Okay, that's what I thought. So doing the trapped dads thing could definitely have a confession, and they could possibly combine the car crash and Thomas and Mitchell, at least in terms of how Buck sees love. And like you said, if Eddie's the one in worse condition, he's not going to tell Buck and let him live with that forever. Buck would tell Eddie, just so he'd know he died being loved (I didn't tear up writing that. At all).
Given the fact Buck, Actually had such a focus on Madney, it kinda makes sense for 7x06 to have a Buddie focus. We haven't even seen Chim at his own bachelor party yet! With Madney in 2x08, we get to see how they communicate (Chim spam texts lol), how well they know each other (her wine order), the karaoke, the buff-fridays thing, and Buck calling them out on being oblivious. The fact we're getting the same colors and the thing with their arms around each other is INSANITY. Even more so considering Maddie and Eddie have so many similarities. Still haven't figured out the point of Eddie in pink, we'll just have to see there. (I think I'm having thoughts on that but now I need to look at 7x01 again. Maybe the pink is tied to Eddie specifically right now. I need to find some coherent thoughts on that lol).
I just thought of something. Athena struggling with accepting changes in the family sounds oddly familiar... Chris broke a salad bowl over Eddie dating again. Would he have similar emotions to finding out Buck and Tommy are together? Or, a step further, if he somehow figures out how Buck and Eddie feel about each other? It's kind of a stretch but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
With the Outside Looking In parallel, it's possible. I'd have to watch and see.
7x06 could be a Buddie begins in a sense. They're practically attached at the hip in all the promos, the karaoke thing, and God knows what else we'll see. I'm all for an *almost* happening, just not a cheating storyline, no thanks. The almost would push them to think whether or not they're ready, and they aren't- at least not Eddie considering Marisol and the whole guilt thing. OH! An almost would pile onto that!
And it's perfect for someone to point out their feelings. Anyone watching them could spot it, Maddie already has her suspicions, so does Tommy. Ideally, at least for me, I want Maddie to call Buck on it and Chim to Uno reverse and throw out "if you love him, tell him." It's not likely to happen in 7x06 specifically, but it could be very soon. Tommy's likely to mention something too, considering he barely knows them and still spotted it, but I would love for it to be Madney.
The Thomas/ Tommy thing is really bugging me. Are we going to see a Charlie or a Mitchell in the near future? I still haven't figured out Tommy's motives, it really makes no sense.
There's so many parallels we're getting, and probably A LOT more in 7x06. I already know it's gonna be one of those episodes that keepe me up all night lol.

I really hope Lou stays for a while…love his character and his blooming relationship with Buck…
I think we might be lucky to have a couple scenes of them next episode, don’t you think?
I really hope he stays and I'm really positive he will, and I really expect to see him at least in the finale as 911 after 2s prefer to have "happy endings" with everyone being happy
2s: Eddie's graduation where everyone smiles and spends time together even tho ofc Buck and Eddie are not in their best, but it's still good memory. Madney became absolute canon, bathena got married, Henren decided to have another baby
3s : graduation party for May where everyone is happy, Buck said good bye to A*by finally, Michael is healthy and asked David out, Madney found out they are pregnant, henren took Nia in their family
4s: Eddie's welcome home party, henren with Nia and her mother
5s: Buck broke up with Taylor which is good for him, Eddie's back to 118, Chim and Maddie have lunch together with Jee as a family
6s: 118 meditation and all the scenes like madney planning wedding, henren having the call about little girl, bathena cruise, Buck with Natalia, Eddie with Marisol
And it's that I remember without thinking too much. So 911 likes to end the season on high note and they almost always have scenes if something good for partners together. As I'm right(which I 99 % sure) and bucktommy stays at the very least for season 8, then I can see them having their little happy finale scene : like it's their date in public and Buck initiate the kiss, Buck introduces Tommy as his boyfriend or they just having cute date. If we will have season finale with all 118 together, them I see Tommy with Buck at barbecue or smt like that

Spoilers for s7e5 9-1-1 under cut:
So I'm watching live and I am missing parts because of a tornado warning but:
Opening? Funny as hell. Poor Eddie. His poor balls.
Karen and Hen preparing for a baby with Chim and Maddie and then not getting a baby? But a little girl age 9? Interesting.
Buck being awkward and closeted with Tommy.
Eddie interrupting? Marisol moving in? Ooooof.
Tommy being like "I don't think you're ready" ow my heart. He's absolutely right to do so. Love Tommy!
Hen and Karen meeting the little girl.
Tornado warning. Ugh. Btw, I'm out of the path of the tornado warning, it's further south of me but I'm getting the warning anyway.
Buck going to Maddie for advice and then playing the pronoun game "this person".
Maddie catching on... "Now you're more than an ally"
Then.... "it's the same Tommy... Eddie's friend..." With a frankly judgy stare Lmfao
Maddie is giving good advice even if taken off guard but being supportive like we knew she would be. Maddie is awesome.
Then Eddie and Marisol in bed in the next scene...her boxes everywhere.
Also hello shirtless Eddie, welcome back, good to see ya.
Marisol was almost a fucking Nun??? Eddie making jokes about being spanked...
Back to the little traumatized girl with Hen and Karen. Karen and Hen are such good moms. This poor kid tho. I don't know what has happened to this kid but goddamn, my heart.
Ooh Buck what are you doing with Eddie... Eddie is being weird about the nun thing lol and talking about his reservoir of Catholic guilt
"like sea monkeys" "no"
Something something tornado warning
"I haven't been able to...you know...since I found out"
"which is why you're so pent up"
Buck backing out of telling Eddie about his recent sexual exploration...
Hen and Cap talking about the traumatized girl. This is heartbreaking. The whole situation is heartbreaking. Poor Denny, he's such a a good kid. But like...why isn't this girl in therapy of some sort? Shit. Like...shit. I hate the US healthcare system. But something is going on and like...idk.
Again, this tornado warning is annoying. I'm missing half the convos and my closed captions aren't working properly.
Hen and Karen are struggling, which I understand, and I think they're trying but with cases like this...
Now Eddie and Cap are talking about Marisol... And his commitment issues... I swear to God Cap was going to say "military, your job, ... Buck" lmfao
"I would probably go to confession, wouldn't want to get on her ex's bad side...the Lord"
Dog attack? Parallels to the little girl? Ooh, heavy handed metaphors...
Wait, does Hen just know dog CPR? Cool.
Oh yay, the dog doesn't die! Hen is now committed to helping the little girl.
Mara is the little girl's name, Athena is helping... The girl's parents were criminals, died to OD. The girl called 911. This poor kid.
Buck and Eddie... Ooof. I'm not spoiling this. I love you all. Ok.
I will say Eddie didn't seem super surprised about it but the fucking tornado warning drowned out half of the scene. I am pissed. I'm going to have to rewatch this later.
Buck is the cutest little bisexual and I love him. I really do.
Eddie...and Marisol. Nuns. Moving In. Not moving in. Blah blah don't care. Sorry not sorry.
More with this new kid and Karen. God, Hen is lucky AF. Karen is amazing and I want to marry her.
Buck and Tommy! Yes. Yessss. Awwww. I love them. Buck is growing up! Tommy is fucking amazing. He's so gentle and kind and and awwwww.
The boys showing up for the wedding like that... lmfao. Omg. We gotta wait two weeks for The Hangover: 9-1-1 edition.
This episode is not what we wanted for Buddie but uh... There is still time? Maybe? There's always fanfiction.
Also? Tommy? I like him. I hope we keep him.
Also? Friendship is never a consolation prize. If they ever end up together or not, the love is there and that matters. The love always matters.

whelp. i did it. somehow. firefighter show is done.
margaret is a new favorite problematic redeemable mom. "wanna go shopping for flowers together? i'm not trying to overstep or imply you're doing bad, i just thought it'd be nice"
aw buck realized his worth. and subconscious mom and dad let him go. but not daniel! wait no it's buck. and buck's going back for himself. the whole i'm a firefighter thing was cheesy as hell tho!
you know who's op? albert's mom. love women who are too good for everyone around them.
frankly margaret is right to nag about the couch. but look at these parents!! trying so hard!! like. trying to finally be what buck hoped they would be? good for him.
ah eddie's couch. adorable. opening up to him, even better <3
eddie and buck on a poker date <3 looking sharp boys <3
okay clearly this sending chim back to academy is to have him recognize what a leader he is. but like. god cap would literally be one of the worst bosses in the world if he was real.
and then academy! clearly they're doing a burn tower. fun fact, there's no fire, just smoky barrels to mimic smoky conditions. it's apparently super miserable. anyways i don't know if la does academy all the time or something, but it's usually only done after the new hires come on. and it's only like. 6-12 weeks of job training?? idk. when they recommended my husband spend some days at academy to practice acting up after he did officer school he had to go on his off days from actual work because the city's not going to pay for him to mess around at academy when he's still got to do his current job. they're not paying someone overtime to fill in for him. the exception was when they had him do the week of officer school, but even then on days he had school and shift, he just returned to shift after he was done with class.
i have a review for you cap, you're an hr nightmare <3
ahahaha. maddie singing in the 911 call. christ, the cheese. and everyone clapped.
okay. how did cap get he an extension on her state licensing requirements c'mon. that has nothing to do with the lafd aside from the fact that they probably provide the cont ed required to maintain. when it's due for renewal and if it gets renewed is entirely up to the state (or should be. idk about california i guess).
you know this whole eddie needs to not be set in his ways and get out of his comfort zone? (he needs to confess to buck. wait what who said that.)
ah, the taxes thing. i mean i like the story thay they're gonna get married (chim and maddie) but the taxes thing is just a little silly. like jee is two? and since taxes are done for the previous years 1) they may have already had to do taxes with consideration of jee and living together and 2) we're talking about potentially doing taxes for the year that maddie was gone. so there should be no way that she would he like "i'm gonna claim jee on mine". that whole being gone for majority of it would be a big long conversation. i feel like maddie and chim would probably have had these discussions already.
i do like hen bringing up the whole maddie leaving thing tho. while i want her and chim to be happy, hen does make excellent points about that and their relationship and his indecision in general.
but she is being unfair about maddie having ppd and not trusting chim. because those aren't necessarily connected. women with ppd. listen there's so much shame involved, especially with the ones you love the most. how do you admit to your husband some of the things that ppd might make you feel about your child? depression itself is irrational, but with ppd there's also a real fear that if you admit to some of those things, you will lose your child. but overall it was a good discussion between them.
of course the ring was with jee lol.
and hen and maddie had a good talk. and maddie's proposing aw.
listen i haven't said much about these buck and eddie lovelines, but all in all its generally inoffensive to me but i'm not super feeling it. definitely rushed tho. and buck's new love interest is very underwritten and such a non-presence that i don't even remember her name.
and listen. i like the sperm donor storyline but i also hate when shows lean in on "haha pregnant lady so she comes in and starts eating spaghetti cause she's hungry and makes buck go out just to buy her pickles". cravings and hunger are there, but they're generally pretty reasonable.
buck taking charge in the bridge collapse. how much he's grown.
once again the world's fastest premature baby with the world's biggest premature baby. good for buck giving the baby to the mom. that's growth.
look at everyone settling down. you can tell this was meant to be a maybe we're not getting renewed thing lol
anyways good for them. the show is just as ridiculous as i remembered and then some, but i didn't hate it. just needs more union. :)

when it's fire fam + athena/cops it feels more light hearted and fun like in 4.04 with the locked yard mystery or in treasure hunt or even with the detective buckley in this ep, even tho the police presence is very much there, y'know? but when it's straight up cop business it always gives me athena begins vibes or it turns into copaganda and it just feels like a whole other show. and every time they try to portray the cop stuff as good and valid (like even the police brutality against michael was sort of handwaved with the one bad apple shit) and everyone they arrest is bad despite intentions or circumstances and it just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth
yeah for sure - while i'd love for there to really not be any major cop presence on the show, if they have to meet their cop quota or w/e i would definitely prefer episodes like 4.04 and 4.12 over episodes like this one or desperate measures or athena begins
but yeah 100%. the thing i usually love about this show is that it is so nuanced and treats its characters and plots with a world view that isn't black and white in the least. the concepts of forgiveness and redemption are written into its very core, and both the audience and the characters themselves are constantly asked to practice empathy and understanding, even in the hardest of circumstances. we (and the 118) are asked to forgive bobby for the apartment fire, eddie is asked to forgive his father, hen is asked to forgive her mother, chim is asked to forgive maddie, karen is asked to forgive hen, and so on. even on calls with characters we will never see again we are asked to see them and their circumstances in a way that isn't so black and white.
so the police procedural episodes are always just such a failure of the show, every single time. the concept of policing and the justice system as it exists today is completely incompatible with the themes at the core of 9-1-1, and as a result it's always So jarring to watch these episodes and their "resolutions." because while episodes like 5.06 end with everyone working to find some way for mitch to give his heart to his son despite everything he'd done, episodes like this one end with the punishment and humiliation of people who were, at the end of the day, truly just trying their best. and in a way, we are still asked to have empathy for these characters, but it's ultimately thrown in our faces as we're told that none of it matters and there is no room for it here. it feels so evil every single time, and yet it is constantly framed as the right and only resolution.
anyway. it's always been really disappointing, and it continues to be really disappointing. it's a moral failure on the part of the writers and truly just such such a disservice to the show (which - is truly on the bottom tier of consequences of media like this, but still)

Man i like AND im rooting for buddie but (and ik im 100% getting attacked for this) they aren’t the main part of the show. They aren’t!!! Season finale is been out for like 2 hours and already I’ve seen people make 284848585 think pieces of why the show should be over bc buddie didn’t go canon. Like…. The white men maybe being queer are not the main representation of this show or the main importance pls. The main importance is def the family the ENTIRE 118 found in each other. And even if buddie goes canon the main queer rep is Hen. You know, the black lesbian with an family????????? (Which like…. You rarely EVER see on tv??????).
You can be mad at buddie not going canon but also to talk as if the entire writing should be jusged based on buddie like…. I need y’all to wake up a little idk.
Just feels like all characters and storylines are often forgotten or ignored to focus on buddie sometimes. Or maybe because i do like buddie and interact with the content is what i see majority of fans taking priority on.
To me the season finale was so good!!! Because it was everyone just freaking out and looking for each other and then bobby. And any ep where they all take a moment to remember bobby is their adoptive father is an A+ for me sjdjfjdj i adore ALL relationships with Bobby they are so precious. Buck taking charge was also amazing???? Hen wanting to take care of everyone???? Eddie trying to ignore his own pain to constantly worry about everyone else??? Saving Chim??????? Loved it!!!
I do agree the eddie and Buck girlfriends storylines were off. Eddie’s not THAT much. Buck’s was bc Natalia had just cared for him dying so idk why they are portraying it like they have such an emotional bond lmao??? Its mostly been how she was fascinated he died and then being uncomfortable he was a sperm donor (which i dont get why????? Ppl do it for money all the time lmao is not like hes a dad at all). But i do think the writers knew chances were very high for a s7 so im guessing they didn’t necessarily plan for a series finale. Like it was a risk but i think most of their cards were on a s7. Which we thankfully had!!!
I love buddie but i dont think it will ever be canon. Thankfully im not watching just for them so i still enjoy the show. I do hope they find better girls for them though or at the very least slow down with who they ended in s6 and develop it more next season. Still kinda hoping for buddie tho djfjffj
Hey!! Stydia took 6 seasons too lmao. Im not one to give up on ships!!!
Hoping ravi becomes a main in s7 too and we get eps with full storylines about him like everyone else!!! Maybe even a ravi begins ep like tradition demands!!!

The 118 5 man band Analysis
So with 6B coming up I just wanted to analyze how the 118 is a five man band in the best way also I’m just a troupe nerd and love when this is used in interesting way
Bobby- Leader
The captain
Keeps the team on track
Tragic backstory
But the typical foil that would go to one of the lancers went to the Heart
Cause you can’t tell me Bobby and buck aren’t foils of each other
Eddie-Big Guy
Military/MMA training
Is usually the one to face off with bad guys and more obviously got into fight club
Heavy hitter usually doing the stunts and maneuvers
Protects the heart of the team (made the kidnappers in season 5 let buck go, held Buck’s hand while the others tried to remove the ladder truck, suspicious of Abby when she came back in s3, gave buck a home/family)
But is also a softie and is a smart mouth
(Hen and Chim can switch roles tho depending on what’s needed of them)
Chimney- Lancer/smart guy
Questions and helps Bobby, seen as a right hand seen as being a Interim captain
Has plans up his sleeves even if unconventional
Hen-Lancer/smart guy
Pushed Bobby to open up and always up to question his leadership but still work within the team dynamic and is his right hand in the fact he chose her to be a interim Captain
Has creative plans to get out of situations or how to help people
Buck-Heart (this is where the 911 writers went bit more unconventional considering the heart role usually went to a smart guy/ girl/ or child, and since you wouldn’t really see Buck’s Footballer, built like a brick wall stature and demeanor be a Heart but a Big guy instead narratively) (but I can sort of make the defense that Buck takes on the heart as sort of a child aspect in the fact that he’s the leader’s pseudo son even if the narrative doesn’t explicitly state it)
The emotional epicenter of the group and usually shows the most out right emotions
Takes on emotional baggage of the team (helps Eddie navigate his emotional/mental well-being in s5, was there to see and help Bobby when he broke down after his relapse in s1, helped Chris (Eddie’s emotions/heart in a way) to understand what’s happening when Eddie started dating, in a sense took on Bobby’s emotional baggage of causing the ladder truck bombing by doing the lawsuit.etc)
Tests the teams dynamic in emotional and mental ways (the lawsuit arc, tsunami, the ladder truck bombing etc.)
Usually the one to be put in distress see above and the most recent 6B trailer (being put in distress stems from the older variation of the heart also being the chick/damsel in distress that the leader/team had to save)

curious how blue/yellow coding for queer characters interprets shannon's death being yellow and then the hospital was blue
(please note i wrote this on my phone then it got interesting so I went back to my computer for screenshots so just stay with me) blue and yellow meta for context
I was thinking about that making that post, because Shannon is a yellow character, she's mostly in yellows and oranges in s2, which makes her have a nice contrast with Eddie's earthy color palette, she's a very bright character, vibrant colors (yellow, orange, that pink dress from the beach scene), a lot of gold jewelry, she has multiple rings and necklaces on at all times, her nails are always done, next to Eddie being very, I don't want to say muted, but like, he's still wearing army colors, accessories are just convenient things like a watch, that creates a very nice contrast between the two because they look good together but they are very different, you can see that just by looking at them.
Tumblr media
And I like the way she's the yellow to Eddie's green, I think at some level the show tried to show that she brightened Eddie's life even when he was scared of what it meant (like in the hospital when Chim gets stabbed she is a point of color in the room), and green and yellow are adjacent on the color wheel, they are colors that harmonize well, so them being in green and yellow for the kiss in haunted for instance shows a moment of harmony (it is the same color theory principle that makes the blue and green thing work).
Tumblr media
But I'm pretty sure in moments where Eddie is blue, she isn't yellow, she's orange, and because those are opposite colors, it shows the contrast between them, a scene that has that combo is the scene where she goes to the house about Chris and the school and they fight, so it's putting them on opposite sides when it comes to colors too, except for her death, but all things considered I think the blue and yellow there is more about something bright on Eddie's life getting taken away from him and creating that gloomy blue feeling of grief than anything inherently queer. I think that sequence is a more basic interpretation, her death took something from Eddie he can't get back, it's a light going out moment in a sense.
Actually, I stand about what I'm saying about her death scene, but I was wrong, she is in yellow in merry exmas when he's in the uniform, and considering they are discussing their sex life affecting their relationship, it can be a total stretch but points for demi Eddie maybe? Because this is the same color palette and I don't know what to do with it right now tbh.
Tumblr media
Because the merry exmas fight is very warm, Shannon is the one matching the lighting and background, not Eddie, and that's the opposite situation with the will reveal, the will has a very cold background that matches Eddie, and considering the merry exmas fight is about Eddie not trusting Shannon with Chris even though he loves her, and the way the will is Eddie trusting Buck with Chris because he loves him, so Shannon only gets Eddie and Buck only gets Christopher in a sense, it could give me points in the whole the mismatched lighting showing they chasing the wrong thing because Eddie and Shannow were trying to reconcile but that eventually leads to her asking for a divorce anyway, and Buck doesn't understand the love confession that being offered Chris actually is. Honestly, applying the concept that Eddie is queer so any relationship he's in is inherently queer, it could mean something. Even more considering the fountain conversation later is also blue and yellow, but they don't match the light behind them either and Buck is pushing Eddie back to Shannon.
Tumblr media
I'll have to think about it more tho. Catch me rewatching the show again trying to figure it out lol

Okay but just to build upon this for my own sake
I think Buck truly did learn a lesson in “In another Life” I think he truly did learn that he is ALLLOWED to love himself and CHOSE himself he’s allowed to Want to live just because he’s him and he deserves to live without having to earn it. But I don’t think he’s learned yet that he deserves other people to love him. It’s like
He’s found a way to accept and love himself for who he is and everything that’s become him, but he has yet to fully believe that ANYONE ELSE COULD. Cause here’s the thing okay, I mean this in a absolutely no hate way but all the love that he experiences with others comes with conditions. Not in a way that they stop loving him or love him less because of something, but because they love him despite of something, and as much as that means they still love him, to HIM it doesn’t feel that way. It feels like walking on eggshells, molding his personality to who he’s around so they still love him.
Hen loves him, but she can’t help but sometimes talk down to him when she’s feels he’s being stupid and reckless, she can’t help but see him as the annoying little brother. She loves him but sometimes she makes him feel small.
Chimney loves him, but he he can’t help but connect him forever to Maddie now, even tho Buck came first. Chim will always feel like he has to chose between the two and he will always chose Maddie, it’s not bad, it’s exactly the same thing for Buck, but Buck knows and is aware of this, that his existence to Chim now he’s been almost downgraded from friend to girlfriend/fiancée/future-wife’s annoying little brother (again that role keeps coming back), the person he can come to to understand her better but sometimes fails to see as his own person outside of her.
Bobby loves him, loves him like a son, loves him more than he’s willing to admit, but it always has set backs and flaws that we have seen from the very beginning. Because Bobby loves him so much that he almost can’t help but put him at arms length sometimes, especially when Buck is being particularly ‘reckless’. Because Bobby can’t lose another kid, and Buck makes that hard by putting himself in positions where he could very well be lost, but that’s not fully bucks fault and it IS his job, but it is a known fact that Bobby treats Buck differently, for better and for worse. So Bobby loves him, but he also worries him, he also protects him to a fault of sometimes revoking Bucks own agency over his life and his decisions.
And Maddie, god Maddie loves him more than life itself, she gave her whole childhood to loving him and raising him, and she carries that on now. But there will ALWAYS be points of contention with them, the secrets that were kept, the leaving and the guilt and the blame, there is always gonna be points where that love hurts a little more than it helps, because she looks at him and feel’s responsibility for who he is and what he feels (again taking some of his own agency away of being his own person) in him she sees all of her mistakes and her parents mistakes and also everything good she’s done and every good he’s done and it’s messy and beautiful and everything that their relationship can be expected to be after all they’ve been through , but it hurts him and makes him feel guilty.
And that’s the thing is Buck feels guilty, for everyone and everything, he takes the weight of the world onto his shoulders and carries it and feels all of the guilt and the pain of everyone he loves and internalizes it as if it was his own, as if he had the ability to change it, to fix it.
And then here’s comes Eddie. Eddie who loves him unconditionally, who forgives him and fights for and with him. Who calls him out when he’s being stupid but still helps him clean up the mess anyways. Who steps into it with him always. Who doesn’t look at him with anything other than fondness, who doesn’t ever expect him to be more than he is, who meets him halfway, who loves him in every version he’s been. Who doesn’t see him as his Buck point O’s, but just as Buck. As the person he trusts more than anyone in the world so much so that it scares them both.
Until he can face that, and see that, see the love and understand that he deserves it, he will keep circling and circling these patterns and keep coping with these same traumas over and over again
Until he can see himself for the whole beautiful and amazing mess that he is and know that someone will still love him anyways (it’s the love me anyways of it all) not in spite of but because of
