literally pleased with almost all of the new atla trailer except as per usual, Zuko's scar, idk why studios are so scared to commit to the intensity of the thing, its supposed to be shocking and obvious and textured and the first thing you see... that's the point, Zuko is supposed to struggle with feeling like it defines and brands him before finally coming to the point in his journey where he defines it.

Hollywood/big studios are known to hesitate or straight up avoid properly and honestly and unapologetically showing people with disfigurements/disabilities/facial differences etc. with the realism they deserve. Which is a shame in general for representation and humanization but ESPECIALLY in this case as its minimization actively harms it's narrative purpose as well

I promise making the scar more intense (shrivel up the ear a bit, make it intrude in his hairline, make his eye in a permanent squint due to nerve damage, for god sake REMOVE THE EYEBROW IT WAS BURNED OFF) will not make Zuko "ugly", (the actor is incapable of looking ugly and also the implication that scars make people too unappealing? yikes) but will actually do the character and his journey justice, not to mention really show Ozai's brutality, another essential narrative tool. Especially when he's bald like hello??? It should be even more stark and intense when he doesn't have hair to distract from it and cover his ear!!!

When transitioning from 2D to live action, of course some visuals are up for interpretation but that usually involved ADDING detail because the constraints of having to stay on modeling frame to frame is gone, not minimizing, removing or airbrushing. Doing Zuko's scar right to me is absolutely essential and I'm disappointed they seem just as as scared to go there as I thought they might. It doesn't have to be gory, if you've ever seen burn victims in real life or in pictures or even cosplayers/artists who are skilled in realistic burn makeup you'd know its possible to balance realism with humanity. It's possible especially with their resources to avoid the "scary Halloween makeup" route while not holding back on the brutality of the original injury.

Budget is definitely not an issue, or "scaring the kids" considering this remake is likely aiming to go a lil darker in tone than the cartoon (which was already super dark with its target audience of nickelodeon 7 year olds so no excuses) Audiences SHOULD be unsettled and upset when they see him but not because he's hard/disturbing to look at but because we are human and do not want to imagine someone doing that to a child.

It's a deliberate choice out of the all too common fear/hesitation to allow someone who is destined to eventually become a protagonist and is meant to be sympathized with to be "too ugly" while this hesitation is very rarely applied to straight up villains (again we come back to media's historic villainization of facial deformity). It's a trend that's always ticked me off in fanart too. The boy's face was melted, for gods sake. Zuko was always portrayed as an attractive boy in the cartoon (fire nation girls fawn over him) even with the intensity of his scar which is something I've always admired! People exist with scars similar to Zuko's in real life, and should not only be permitted to be represented as good guys and/or as attractive when their scars are toned down to be "palatable"

Like I said there's more that I loved than didn't love about the trailer, that can be a whole essay on it's own but I needed to get this very specific vent off my chest because it missed the mark so hard and stands out like a sore thumb in comparison to all the other visuals that hit the nail on the head to me

Alastor and Lucifer sit at the bar; a rare evening of a sleeping-quiet enveloping the hotel. Having asked his question and Alastor having answered; Lucifer snickers happily into his seltzer. Alastor glares at him - unamused - with a fixed gaze. Sighing, then taking a deep breath Lucifer reigns himself in.

"Ok, radio demon. Whatcha' got?"

"Hm..." Alastor lays his long ears back, sharply curling the ends. A wicked grin spreads across his face and he immediately materializes himself so that he is standing just behind Lucifer, clawed fingers gripping his shoulders as he presses his darkening face in close to the angel's - cold shadows creeping in and darkening the room.

"I'd very much like to know..." Alastor's begin to glow. "What strikes fear into the great King of Hell's heart? Who or what do you fear most, Lucifer?" Alastor finished with a low growl.

Lucifer looked at him; his expression quite bored.

"Geese."

"What!?" Alastor's ears twerked up, his shadows and all traits of menace falling away in his confusion. His radio filter even had slipped from his voice.

"Geese." Lucifer shrugs, sipping his seltzer.

Alastor stares at him; unsure of what exactly to do with this bindingly honest bit of information.

"They're fucking scary." Lucifer tells him. "Everyone wants you to think they're just big ducks but they're not! Those things are...pure evil incarnate." He shuddered.

"......I'm going to bed." Alastor mumbled; dissipating into the dark.

You felt how his body relaxed underneath you, felt his sigh more than you heard it and it was then and there that the both of you knew you had won, even if Adam would keep up the act of denying your request a little longer. “No one else is gonna see ya, c’mon hun,” you leaned in closer, your hands were on his chest, softly massaging his slightly chubby tits in the most teasing way God had ever seen. Your lips brushed against his ear as you continued to speak, “Do it for me, Adam.” The shudder that went through his body at your words felt so violent. The reason why you wanted him to wear that stupid outfit for you was pretty simple: You wanted to see and slap his ass. Ever since you had first seen this man in underwear, you had known that his ass was a handful, like the first man not only had a fucking amazing dick, no, of course he also had the most perfect ass humanity had ever seen. But Adam didn’t really care about that, he knew he looked glorious and that was it, that was enough knowledge to hide his perfect body underneath that gigantic robe of his that left everything to your imagination. He rarely wore anything else than his robe, at home it was mainly a band shirt that was way too fucking big on him and therefore covered his juicy ass, and boxershorts, but even that wasn’t satisfying enough to you, you wanted to dress him up to make him realize how wonderful his body was - you wanted him to see what you were seeing and while the brunette might not like the thought of wearing a maid dress, you had made sure to get him one that fit his figure’perfectly fine. He would look absolutely angelic wearing the dress you had picked out for him.

So when you opened your eyes because of soft kisses that were placed up your chest, over your neck and all the way up to your lips, you couldn’t hide the massive grin that stretched across your lips. “Mornin’,” you mumbled sleepily against the warm pair of lips that belonged to your boyfriend. Adam wasn’t the romantic type of guy, yes, the both of you were going on dates, but at home in his normal daily life, the most romantic thing he could do without seeming suspicious was to kiss you awake. And that mainly happened on special occasions like birthdays. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy kissing you awake, he did very much, but he wanted it to be something special, why you didn’t fully understand but you accepted it. “Morning, old fuckhead,” the first man greeted you, on his lips an equally large grin. He seemed excited for the day, he had most likely already forgotten about the little promise he had made you, otherwise he surely wouldn’t be as excited. At least that was your guess.

You pulled away from the warm body on top of yours and stretched your tired bones as you pushed yourself off the bed to sit up before you gave him a glance, followed by a very important reminder, “Someone’s quite excited to spend the day in a maid dress, huh?” Oh and the look on his face as he heard you speaking those words, it was priceless. The grin he had been holding up so pridefully fell quickly and his expression turned into a mix between annoyance and excitement, though you were sure the annoyance in his eyes was just a cover-up, otherwise he wouldn’t have agreed to wearing that silly outfit so quickly. If he wanted to, Adam could argue pretty well and the fact that there had been basically no resistance on his side, had told you everything you needed to know - he thought of your wish as something silly, yet respected it - mainly because it was coming from his boyfriend. “Don’t fucking remind me,” he groaned with a roll of his eyes and turned around, his back was now facing you. Oh but you couldn’t wait to see his sexy ass in that dress that was just a little too short and would expose just a little too much.

So you pushed the sleepiness aside and got up from the bed to walk over to your shared closet, you took the still closed package that was waiting inside and tossed it in Adam’s direction. The brunette was quick to roll over and dodge getting hit by it while he grumbled, “It’s too fucking early, babes.” No, no it really wasn’t. It wasn’t ever ‘too early’ to see your boyfriend in the most revealing piece of clothing he’d ever own. “Pull that stick outta your ass and get dressed bitch, it’s my fucking birthday,” you responded in a sing-song voice as you grabbed one of Adam’s band shirts to wear yourself. The sleepily annoyed boyfriend of yours raised his head a little, eyeing you up and down, “So I have to wear this,” he nudged the package away from his body with his left wing, “And you get to wear my shit that basically covers all of you? Fucking unfair.” You just chuckled as you headed for the door, “Get a taste of your own fucking medicine, hun. I’m gonna go and make breakfast, you’re gonna move your ass and you better be dressed when I’m done.” You were almost able to hear the brunette’s annoyed eye roll as he responded sarcastically, “Yes dad,” while he dropped his head face down into the pillows. A cheeky, “That’s daddy for you,” left your lips before you closed the door behind you, yet you heard how the first man choked on his spit because of your words.

As for the horse thing.. you know what time it is?

✨FACTUAL'S RARE VAGUE STORYTIME!!✨

Ok so when I was very smol me and a friend of mine went out into a field that had one big black horse in it.

The horse was allll the way across the field just minding his own business so I figured he probably wouldn't bother us.

Now this field had a pond and a HUGE WALL of blackberries that divided the field in two. Me and my buddy wanted to go to the other side of the pond and explore.. but the literal only way to get there was to carefully trudge through this narrow path that was formed in the blackberry bush wall.

So up we went. Slooowly stepping through this narrow path.. stomping down the protruding spiny blackberry vines and carefully pushing them out of the way with our bare hands. I think we were wearing shorts and sneakers which just added to our slowness and carefulness.

Now picture this, we're almost at the top. There was probably about 2-3 meters left to go before we were finally through the blackberries.. then we hear..

We turn around and the black horse was running up the path towards us. Keep in mind that we were very small, and this very much larger than us, horse was not stopping. He was absolutely going to mow us over.

We. freaked. out.

We scrambled as fast as we could up the rest of the path, tripping in the blackberries and getting cut, screaming all the way-

We made it through just in time and stood flat to the fence. The horse made it through right after us and then jumped around and kicked his feet in the air, nearly nailing my friend in the face.

After a moment the horse stops jumpin around and just kinda looks at us. My friend and I have jello legs and are scared out of our skin-

So for several hours, tiny me and my tiny friend slowly wandered around the space behind the pond. Blubbering and shaking the whole time. With this giant black horse just kinda following us around and sniffing us.

We were terrified of this horse, and we wanted to go back to the house asap- but the only way back was through that narrow spiny path. We didn't want to risk the horse chasing us again..

Eventually an adult came looking for us and was calling out our names. The horse got spooked by them and ran through the path and back out into the field. The adult came up and escorted us through the berries and back to the house.

So anyways, since that day I have learned that horses are way more scared of you than you are of them. All you gotta do is wave your arms around and scream and they'll run. But even so, I don't go out in the field without the scary adult or horse expert by my side. And I'll only feed or pet them through the fence. I am just forever spooked by horses <XD

We found out later that the horse was just playing. Seeing us and running up to greet us and to jump and play! Only for us to be completely spooked and not really engage with him. Causing the horse to kinda sniff us and follow us around like "?? :0 Play? Hm?? <:0 What happen? (Sniff sniff) We're having fun? Play..?? Why not look at me...? So slow..??🤨"

Time for my silly annual fanart obsession that will inevitably be used as grist for other projects! Do not expect this to go anywhere!

I've been thinking about a Legend of Zelda series game where the tri-force and goddess/hero/Demise incarnations are kind of switched around. (I mean, I don't think it's been confirmed that Demise always has to take the power tri-force, just that the trio will always return, I could be wrong though). So we have the Hero with the power tri-force, the Goddess with courage, and Demise with wisdom. This Hyrule also seems very different, laying at the bottom of a giant crater, and if you max out your stamina you can get to the edge and see... nothing but more empty craters.

Hyrule is slowly becoming colder and darker and the light-fish (which functions as the sun as it slowly winds its way around the crater) is dying. Things are making making their way in and infecting people. This tri-force exists as a triumvirate of Power, Security, and Control and Control/Wisdom is corrupted, Security is occupied, and Power is dutifully sending energy somewhere, but not where it should go. The gerudo desert is particularly badly hit (gerudo sires/princes aren't quite as rare in other games, but they're only about 1/15 of the gerudo population and tend to be overly protected as a resource, it kinda sucks!). Our hero (called "Lunk" here) gets infected, is mercy killed by his bodyguard with the cool "sword of the raging god" they found and left for dead. Except the dying part doesn't take, and the sword has stuff it needs to get done. He's partly infected, but it's kept at bay by the sword and eventually he comes across a Rito called Zelda who was working as a demolitionist for the group that was looking for artifacts like the sword, and then they're off trying to figure out who killed the light-fish.

Since, thematically, Wisdom is the corrupted one, our heroes are kind of... dumb. Lunk looks like a villain ought to look and bird Zelda is wanted for blowing up religious artifacts. People don't trust them! Also, wisdom/Demise is manipulating one really really scary hylian twink oh goddess he's so fast.

They're trying to figure out what killed the light fish, and hopefully restore it. Lunk has six daughters and even though he's maybe kind of sort of dead he'd like them to live.

And did I mention that there's a prophecy that Lunk will grind hyrule beneath his feet for ten thousand years? That seems bad. Is the power tri-force the dangerous part and not just Demise?

Gameplay would, like TOTK, revolve around physics, though it's mostly based on the fact that Lunk can change local physics around him, making things lighter or heavier, changing inertia, etc. Bird Zelda is basically a military drone that drops small grenades.

Aesthetically, this is heavily Twilight Princess influenced though. What a pretty game.

So You Want To Watch Lifesteal

It’s happened. You’ve been seeing your mutual/followed blog reblog posts about this SMP called “Lifesteal” that apparently has some sort of gay clown? You’re intruiged. Well, couldn’t hurt to check it out, right? Maybe the gays got to you. Maybe you’ve seen the crystal demon. Maybe you’ve just seen some sick art. Whatever it was, you’ve seen something that prompted you to go “huh. maybe i should check this thing out!”

Now you’re wondering- so how do I watch this thing? Where do I start? What’s it about? Never fear! You’re in exactly the right place! Here’s the post that will walk you through how to get started watching this Lifesteal SMP thing (and maybe joining in Tumblr’s collective brainrot).

What Is Lifesteal? Let’s start with the basics. Lifesteal is a Minecraft SMP- okay. Maybe not that basic. I’m sure you know the drill. So what’s the “thing” with Lifesteal, then? What’s it all about?

Lifesteal’s premise is that when you die, you lose a heart off of your permanant health bar. This one!

Now here’s the twist that makes it fun: when you kill another player, you get their heart. So if you’re both on ten hearts, and you kill someone else, their healthbar will drop to nine and yours will increase to eleven!

This is why you see so much heart imagery in fanart, and why if you see screenshots/watch videos, their health bars are rarely at ten hearts. Pretty simple, right? 

Yep, mostly. Some other things you should know about the life system are that players can choose to “withdraw” their hearts, which means they remove hearts from their health by choice. They appear as nether stars in a player’s inventory. This feature is typically used for trading hearts (although usually a little more... violent) and giving hearts to allies- hearts can be stored and thrown like normal items, and a player can use the item to add a heart to their health bar (the item will vanish from their inventory).

And of course once you reach zero hearts, you’re banned from the SMP. That’s it, it’s over. Unless someone chooses to revive you. That’s pretty rare though, so mostly 0 hearts = death! 

But in the cases where players are revived, it’s with the use of a special item that looks like a beacon, crafted with 4 nether stars, 4 hearts, and an elytra. Hearts in this case can function like nether stars- you can use 8 hearts and an elytra to craft the beacon. It’s very expensive, which is why it’s not used often.

Okay, great! So where do I start watching? So first, you’ll want to know that Lifesteal has four seasons so far- no! wait! don’t let that scare you off! please come back! Phew, okay. You’re still here? Alright! I was just about to tell you that you don’t have to watch them in order, don’t worry! You can start on Season One, but you really don’t need to. Most people start on Season 3 for The Gays™️ or Season Two for Clownpierce.

The most common recommendation you’ll see for new viewers is to watch Clownpierce and Branzy (yes, they’re the gays your dash won’t shut up about). Branzy doesn’t appear until Season 3, though, and he only has 6 Lifesteal episodes (find them here). Clown’s been here a bit longer, and you can find his videos here. What’s Branzypierce? Branzypierce, also known as Clownzy, is the ship name of BranzyCraft and Clownpierce. They’re the most popular ship here in the fandom, because it’s basically canon. I wish i was joking. Just. Click this.

But if you’re not interested in just Clown and Branzy, or you’ve already watched them and looking to find more people to watch, then keep on reading! There’s plenty more below. Before we get into it, if you want a list of s3 events and how to watch them, look no further than this post. And keep in mind, most Lifesteal videos are self-contained enough that you can watch them without prior knowledge! You almost don’t even have to watch anyone’s series in order from what I’ve found.

What about Season 4?  You may have noticed that all the links led to S3 playlists. Good job! That’s because S4 has just started and there’s not much content. Before you get into S4, you should know there’s a new system implemented that limits the armor and tools players can get- info here. 

Now how to watch it? The s4 playlist, or go here! It’s got everything you need. There’s not much so far, though, so I wouldn’t try to watch it if you’re just looking to get into Lifesteal in general! Watch s3 to get content!

Do any of them stream? Yes! Not all of them do, but there are a good few Lifesteal streamers. First up, ItzSubz has Something going on over there, so go check that out. And Don Turnt streams Lifesteal fairly often. Not sure if any of the others stream regularly, but here’s the list of all their channels!
