Saw a tiktok that was about like an extremely specific thing of a parent with their child but accidentally triggered a Realization of some shit from earliest existence that is still hurting rn and um. I did not want to unpack that making lunch.

#songs that the hyades shall sing #it was abt like some kids have Specific issues that they mask 24/7 in public but then they feel safe enough at home to let fhe tension out #but from the outside it looks like 'oh that kid only expresses distress at home and when they do they FLIP OUT the parent must suck'#when its really like EVERYTHING is that distressing ALL THE TIME and they're trusting a parent to protect them while they process it #which is. more specific to other people. but og was a holy terror as a child and often for similar reasons-#feeling inexpressible pain and trying to get someone to help her make it better or protect her while she worked through it #and then towards the end she lost that belief that things could be fixed #that she would ever have true safety or trust again #and now as her inheritor i get to hear people so so 'proud' of me for living in constant pain and fear #because I'll never trust them enough to let them really know how bad it is again #and how much it fucking hurts #im. bad enough at taking genuine compliments i think are untrue or undeserved #but when people compliment me on giving up on the possibility of a life without suffering its. uniquely agonizing

- eddie robin and steve also have adhd (and steve has dyslexia)

- steve and jonathan tend to get overstimulated by the same things, same with eddie and robin

- eddie and jonathan have music playing 24/7 so their thoughts don’t get too loud

- steve is hyper-empathetic to the ppl around him and tends to mimic stims and tics from the others

a lot of times robin and steve end up mimicking the same stuff back at each other until one of them gets distracted (which is usually pretty fast)

- jonathan is touch averse, can only handle being touched by family/very close friends

- steve is touch starved and finds physical affection grounding (and eddie and robin are happy to oblige bc they do too)

- steve has a super high pain tolerance

- eddie does not understand the concept of personal space

- the four of them are completely clueless when people try to subtly hint or imply things to them. they will not get it unless it is explicitly stated

- steve and eddie have a good sense of direction but mess up left and right, jonathan and robin are the opposite, they get lost constantly but make fun of steve and eddie for having to do the L thing (iykyk) to figure out left/right

- eddie ends up chewing on paper a lot and has accidentally swallowed a bunch

- eddie and steve are incapable of doing homework and are terrible test-takers

- steve and robin are perfectionists but in different ways. steve will start organizing peoples rooms subconsciously and has a bunch of random little rules for himself (tie left shoe first, check locks three times, etc.) robin is a perfectionist about her grades/band/how she looks/etc.

- jonathan and steve hate making eye contact, eddie makes too much eye contact and robin doesn’t even look up from her book when people talk to her

- eddie and robin accidentally eavesdrop a lot but end up getting a bunch of town gossip and tell steve about it. they’re all really invested in mr. clarke’s love life

- eddie and jonathan have synesthesia

- jonathan has a lack of facial expressions while eddie and robin over-exaggerate theirs. steve masks the most so he has “normal” facial expressions

- steve has trouble expressing himself a lot of the time, he’ll usually ask robin for certain words to describe things and bc she loves big words and vocabulary she always has one

- robin is a terrible liar and steve finds it hilarious

- they all tend to recharge on their own after a lot of socializing, or they all go to steve’s and just like. exist together

- steve keeps a very strict schedule and gets really anxious/upset when it’s messed up

- robin and eddie tend to overshare

- jonathan and steve talk pretty monotone (jonathan more so) while robin and eddie talk in super energetic or dramatic tones (they’re both former theatre kids i can feel it in my bones)

- steve has auditory processing issues, often asks people to repeat what they said (overtime he also starts to lose his hearing so he ends up learning to read lips)

- when they’re anxious robin and eddie usually go hyperverbal, while steve and jonathan tend to go nonverbal

- steve and eddie have echolalia and both used to get super frustrated with themselves before they met and were like “oh im not the only one thank fuck”

- jonathan and robin have photographic memories, steve and eddie have trouble remembering what they had for breakfast

- robin is pretty blunt but steve appreciates it because she gets straight to the point and calls him out if he does something stupid (aka smth King Steve would do)

- steve’s main mask is, obviously, king steve. his parents didn’t like the way he acted when he was younger, they wanted a “normal” child. so they trained him to be one. he still falls back into old habits some days but robin or eddie snap him out of it and comfort him after

- steve and robin mask the most, but steve does wayyy more than all of them combined. robins parents are autistic so she only really masks around people in public

she does around steve until they get closer and she feels comfortable enough to unmask (though she doesn’t really know why,,) and steve notices and is like “…you can… take it off?” and robin realizes oh he’s like me

- joyce is an amazing mother and jonathan only ever felt the need to mask around lonnie. once he leaves (aka joyce kicks him out with hopper’s help) will and jonathan rarely mask at home unless they’re really anxious or upset

- eddie masked most of his childhood. when he grows up he masks around his dad, but not anyone else. he thought if anyone hated him they could go fuck themselves. wayne is also autistic so they never feel the need to mask around each other. he still doesn’t give a shit what other people think of him (and tries to help the others feel that way too)

our wonderland as a whole has grown to mean a shit ton to me (but ill talk more abt that at length in a later post) and i love all the characters so so fucking much and especially gidget and iggy. especially gidget, oh gidget has thieved away with this aching heart of mine. or something.

im always extremely drawn to n obsessed w characters and storylines around like… a self suppression, muting, coiling up into some unreal ideal and reality so deeply it becomes some 'new reality', until you can barely see yourself anymore…. im crazy abt that shit. it rules. and gidget is all that. and also just a silly illy billy booly looly who i want to put in my mouth and chew up like a wad of paper. uh

i think about them like all the time 24/7 366 (cause its a leap year!) and im always like. thinking on new angles and perspectives and little intricacies and probably a solid 80% of it is just all in my head but god. i love them sm they are so awesome n well written n silly n WAAAAAAAAAAAGH

my stream friends ARE nice !!! im sorry to say this but u simply do not know em like i do.

i think the disconnect may come from the fact that their humor tends to be more crass than mine, but genuinely i only tend to spend my time w/ folks that i know are genuine & cool & kind ppl. Despite being extroverted, i'm a very anxious person, and due to some times in my life where i've had to endure some pretty toxic stuff, i'm very selective abt who i get close to. Not even consciously, it's just how i am. So suffice to say that generally speaking, if i like someone, they passed an irritating and irrational vibe check that i am constantly doing in my brain 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I'm not saying u gotta like & get along w/ everyone i collab w/ but at the very least pls consider that if I'm spending time w/ ppl, i am doing so bc i like them as a person.

ALSO!!! It sounds like you have a very specific view of me and while i DO try to be nice & i am very sensitive about other ppl's feelings, i wouldn't say that i'm nicer than my friends. We all just got different ways of showing it. And besides, i can bare fangs when I need to. I'm just luckily in a position where the need doesn't arise very often, & i have mods that can do the dirty work for me to moderate my community bc i get very stressed out about reprimanding ppl publicly.

While a lot of my friends aren't afraid to rib ppl in chat, it's basically not something i'm very good at doing on my own, even if someone's being rude to me. I'm glad that I come off as nice but i got just as much going on behind the scenes as any other person.

i. i dont know. i used to wish for asks all the time bc i love asks and i used to not get too many. ive never had this many ppl wish me happy bday. i think i had at least 25 ppl. it was very heartwarming. i honestly dont know what i did to deserve this and thats why i feel sooo bad all the time bc i have like 31 prompts waiting to be written :( but i'll go on a writing marathon this afternoon!

omg not sure if you've been asked something similar before, but whilst I had covid recently a Guy In My Head sprouted into existence (who, lore-wise, was a little cat who lived behind a minesweeper board and set up all the mines...) and it reminded me of your mind guys, and I was wondering how exactly you interact with them? : O Do you imagine them interacting with you physically, do they react to all of your thoughts (like little 24/7 bystanders) or can you wave them away at will/have privacy? Do they feel like they have full autonomy or do you sorta have 4th wall breaks of adjusting them? I'm just very curious...!

ive answered smthng adjacent before but i can answer it again!

I imagine em interacting with me physically, but not 24/7, only when my brain wants or needs that distraction. like they're not with me at my desk rn, but they could be! only until i start focusing again.

when i go to bed i usually imagine em There but that's just an achor point for the daydream, the thoughts can wander to dif locations, real or imaginary (i also switch between my POV and theirs in my brain sometimes, acting out their emotions etc). I mentioned this recently, it's much harder to get out of bed when your brain is almost convinced there's a guy who needs your warmth resting his head on your chest.

Both on the last one! ive discussed this before, a lot of the time it feels like theyre their own people talking to me, BUT with the acknowledgement that they're still imaginary and in Cheye's Brain...so i wont control the content of what they're saying (im learning more abt talon every day from this) but sometimes i have to pause, adjust, rewind, because hey, that sounds too Cheye, he wouldn't say that because [x y z character trait], and hit play again. its rly fun ^_^

What would your ideal book be like (as in, what theoretical book would be your absolute favourite) what genre, page count, setting, characters, etc would it have?

oohhhh this is such an interesting ask. hmm i'll have to lay this out in dot points

BE READY FOR LOTS OF TEXT!

also i am indecisive and messy so my opinions will probably change idk T-T

alr here we go

- genre: psychological novel? im not exactly sure what the genre is but i love when books follow a mentally ill character that's just trying their best to navigate through life, and the book is about the way they interact with their surrounds and respond to issues and cope with their past and come to decisions, iykwim?

BUT I WANT FANTASY in it too so it will be epic. i love fantasy world building and i love when it makes so so so much sense. it would be cool if they had elements and got sorted into elemental groups too- that is so satisfying and fun to read.

- page count: probably 500. personally i think a normal book is 300, and it seems daunting when it's got like 700 pagesz but considering that this is my ideal book, i think i'd be sad if it had less than 400 pages (cus the story would be over soon) so i'd say 500 pages is the perfect amount.

- setting: in terms of time, i never really cared for it. i realise that i should probably have a preference on which century i like to read, but i find that characters can be mentally ill and epic no matter if they are from the future or the past.

in terms of location, hmm i wouldn't want to read about a character being anywhere with tropical or summery vibes. i like my characters knee deep in snow and drenched from head to toe in rain. it keeps them depressed and relatable ^^ (/hj....?)

- characters: trios are the best and i will die on that hill. ok like i dont need the trios to be together 24/7 but i need there to be THREE main characters if you know what i mean. one of them can be an antihero idc. it just has to be THREE.

oh also i love to read in the perspective of characters who are ambitious and feisty and impulsive because they're the opposite of me. but also i'd like them (idc abt gender) to be cunning, witty and good at making plans.

another character that i need in the trio is the smart one. there HAS to be a smart side character or else i will NOT fall in love with the book. i need the character who makes all the entensive plans. i need the character who is a walking dictionary. i need the character who hates to fight and would rather be learning but is somehow good at it and therefore forced to fight alongside the makn character. (oopsies im just describing the poppy war. but that is not a crime ;])

if its a soldier poet king trio i will be obsessed with it forever and ever

ok so for the stuff that u didnt ask but im gonna include:

-writing style: advanced. work my mind to death but enrichen it at the same time. i dont mind a difficult and layered magic system- in fact i LOVE THOSE, as long as they make sense and they are creative. do not give me that "she let out a breath she didnt know she was holding" bs.

i want "the night circus" level description when it comes to settings. i need to see taste hear smell FEEL the fucking surroundings

-vibe: doomed from the start. i dont want my characters to be happy. make me fall in love and then break my heart and do not apologise for it :,) (shit am i masochistic? damn)

- others: it would be cool if it is somehow relevant to our present irl current political state/ real world problems. it would be even cooler if it somehow fits a ton of mitski songs. also gayness is very welcomed

yeahh thats all i got for now. oops i wrote alot. at the start of my reply i was thinking along the lines of solitaire and crime and punishment and no longer human, but then it was all scrapped and i based it all off of the poppy war trilogy because it did fantasy and character dynamics/personalities/backstories SO RIGHT.
