rose is quick to read post-irony as actually being a joke/insincere, which in bro's case would be true. but i believe dave's natural instinct, outside of the influence of bro, is to read post-irony as genuine, which is exactly how mom serves it. we see this as early as act 3 from him; he understands her motives better than rose does herself:

but the thing is, it's always genuine from her. dave wouldn't have to second guess it because he's not one to naturally second guess someone's sincerity; that was learned due to his bro being virtually unassailable

there two types of ironies at play here:

seems like a joke, is actually genuine (roxy)

doesnt seem like a joke, is actually a joke (dirk)

you can make the argument that the second is is more psychologically destructive because it makes you question the reality of what is genuine sentiment and what isn't. dave never knew what was genuine and what was irony so he just sort of existed in this sincerity-ironic limbo and always did the opposite of what he genuinely felt on principle even if it always did originate from a genuine place.

"it just a joke bro i was just being ironic i dont actually x" is so much more trust-breaking and psychologically damaging than "wait are you being serious" / "i am being so fucking fr rn davy gravy" / "ok thats actually pretty fucking awesome. giant ass wizard statue" / "RIGHT"

how much about dave would change do you think? his character arc would be completely different for one thing, i think he'd have it good aside from mom's alcohol issues. he'd be left with the sweet and funny parts of him that we see at the end of the comic. the fake coolguy stuff is out, but this remains. this is dave in his element and we see it as early as act 1

he'd probably have no shades growing up in the lalonde residence* either cause those were given to him by bro straight out of the crater as an extension of his own cool image. and john gave dave ben stiller’s aviators for his 13th birthday to replace them so he could “spread his wings”

dave said he was wearing them for the ironies but i kind of doubt it. maybe post-irony but there was some reacharound to it being genuine because dave never put those pointy anime shades on his face again.

*though... it’s kind of hard to imagine him without his shades at all? B2 dave still got stiller’s shades from stiller himself so maybe getting them is a universal constant. i can imagine mom getting him them as a birthday gift cause shes pretty wealthy and probably could buy it out in an auction. but also itd be cool if john still gave him it as a gift

dave is actually a lot more genuine and easy to read than he lets on even when grappling with his upbringing with B1 dirk (again, see this post). this can be seen all throughout he comic but a good example is the evolution of thoughts about his interest in the preserved dead things in his room:

if B1 roxy was dave's guardian he probably WOULD have pursued paleontology because she wouldve indulged him in it and probably find it cool and worthwhile to pursue, instead of allowing dave to flounder under ironic detachment, being poisoned by irony to the point of gaslighting himself into believing he doesnt actually believe he thinks this shit is cool. even if it was indulged in this such a way; a superficially kitsch and ironic appearing presentation, it comes from a genuine place and inspires genuine interest. just read the comments.

basically, i think if B1 roxy raised dave, their relationship would have a surface level appearance of being bizarre or over-the-top but they’d have an unsaid mutual understanding that it’s completely in earnest and just build on each other's funny and absurd gestures of affection. rather than seeing it as one-upping each other, it'd more like collaboration of some silly bullshit that you take a step back and look at full and just say, "fucking incredible"

speaking of paleontology, mom had the proto-ectobiology lab. maybe they'd be able to use the equipment to appearify paradox ghost imprints of the dead shit to create paradox clones of things from the cambrian era??? sounds like a fun mother son bonding activity. and theyd actually put the sciencey shit in the household to use

oh god i know exactly the kinds of music shed listen too also growing up as a teen in the 80s. she on that (post)-punk/art rock/new wave/new romantic mtv stuff. I think i might’ve already asked about this somewhere here (bad memory lmao) but,

I often think about Minimus Ambus, and although i headcannon him as being not too fond of sex/interfacing, i do also think it's fun to portray the lil' dude as someone who just doesn't have the time to please himself, or maybe he feels that as a role model, the ultimate hero, the immortal lawman, he isn't meant to be 'impure' (guilt ooooh, similar to how you seem to characterise Drift). But i digress.

What if the Magnus armour had a spike n' valve? (it was cast in the original Magnus's image so i don't see why not). Imagine Minimus finally being freed from Tyrest's expectations and getting a moment of peace after a long day of chaos on the ship. He's feelin' a lil' warm n' tingly, but he's too embarrassed to go to anyone for company, so he decides to pop the panels off the armour and go ham. (i think i just have a thing for distension, i'm sorry). The valve is probably a lil' tight because it's not been used but Primus dammit would it feel good!

I think he'd still feel guilty afterwards and end up telling Ratchet or Rang (Rong? Ring?? Rung!!), who would then tell him that he's perfectly fine and normal for being a lil' horny sometimes.

(Also also, what if he, hesitantly, tells the science bots (I have mainly Brainstorm in mind) who then helps modify the armour with different mods n' extras) Just some stinky thoughts that keep me up at night.

Authors Note: Congradulations on the pregnancy, this is such a beautiful moment (if that’s what you want of course) I wasn't entirely sure how you wanted me to write this, whether it be happy or sad, but I hope you enjoy this nonetheless. I don't write Billy Lenz or any particular Michael Myers; sorry about that. I also have never written a pregnancy story, so sorry if this is bad or at any point incorrect.

Brahms Heelshire:

When you told Brahms about you being pregnant, he would definitely be jealous of the idea of someone else stealing your attention.

He would sulk whenever you were around and would probably hide in the walls to ignore you in order to make a point.

It took you a while, but you managed to get Brahms to sit down and have a conversation with him about what was going to happen.

Afterwards, Brahms would be a bit awkward around you and would probably still continue to avoid you until he gets used to the idea.

Would make you take extra care of him so he can feel loved still. Example: kiss goodnight every night, read his favourite book at least once a week, an extra few bjs here and there.

He eventually will grow to like the idea of a miniature version, that you two conceived, running around.

“Can we still have secks?” If he’s cumming it’s inside, no spillage.

Now, Brahms when the baby is born. He’s awkward, refuses to hold it, and refuses to be anywhere near it.

In all honesty, Brahms is scared of parenthood. He missed out on his entire childhood as well as becoming an actual adult. He lacks the responsibility that most adults have and he’s scared that he’ll be a bad role model for the child. He’s also worried that the child would end up like him and he doesn’t want that.

I imagine that Brahms would be a great friend for the child, maybe not a good dad. He would play with the child, read to it, and express the kind of love that he wished to receive from his own parents.

He would ask you to teach him things to teach the child.

Michael Myers:

I think Michael would hate having a kid around, but also love it at the same time.

He would probably try and train it to be like him or something.

Why can I kind of see Michael have some sort of pregnancy fetish. Like he likes the idea of fucking you with a round swollen stomach, and while it means that he has to be softer and more caring during your intimate times, he also finds himself getting off quicker.

This also means he can cum inside you as much as he wants without a care in the world. He also enjoys how your constantly horny 24/7, so unless your whining about wanting him deep inside you he doesn’t really care.

I just feel like Michael would enjoy the pregnancy stage but despise the baby part because that means he has more responsibilities, but with that being said he would also make you do everything because he doesn’t want to hurt the baby.

New founding possessiveness from Michael, you can now never leave the house under any circumstances, oh the food? Don’t worry, he’ll steal from the next person he pays a visit to.

You wouldn’t ever have to worry about feeling unsafe for you or your child as he is your personal bodyguard as you already know and now I’m not saying he would sacrifice the baby for you, but if it comes down to it he’s going to choose you in a situation where it’s one or the other.

Don’t expect him to care about or for the baby because for the most part he won’t, but he would never do anything on purpose to put it in harms way.

thinkin about how the journey to the west is just one big mess for wukong. but like, in a family sense.

idfk this might make no sense. also tw for mentions of abuse and manipulation.

i like to imagine before he meets tripitaka he's not a bad person at all, hes just wild, impulsive and theres things he doesnt understand. like as a very powerful monkey with no parents or role models there are things he doesnt understand regarding society, morals and right vs wrong.

hes impulsive and wild, a good person at heart but he doesnt know that some of the things he tends to do is moraly wrong. like okay he takes the immortal peaches yeah he knows its stealing but does he completly understand what stealing does? does he understand how it impacts other people? no. he just thinks "oooooh pretty yummy peaches i want some. people are gaurding it? oh no problem im sneaky"

like a child.

he doesnt understand how things affect other people until someone explains it or it happens to him.

"why are you pouting mihou"

"you ate my pile of peaches"

"oh...well, they were just laying there i dont really see the pr-"

then he rushes and grabs an even bigger pile of peaches from the mountain and drops it in front of mihou and then watches him eat while also thinking about how his dear friend reacted to him eating his peaches. hes king? cant he have anything he wants? so why did mihou care so much when he took his peaches? and why did he panic when he saw mihou cry.

he doesnt understand emotions or consequences until the result is staring at him in the face. especially when its someone he cares about or himself. then he starts to understand.

so he's childish, impulsive, wild, chaotic but also protective and thoughtful. he'll take a moment to think about things but the thought it almost never finished unless he really wants to understand something. and sometimes lui er mihou has to teach him and explain.

but in the end wukongs just a little monkey guy that wants to hang out on flower fruit mountain with his monkey people forever. he doesnt want to die because he doesnt want to lose what he has. he became strong because hes king. hes supposed to protect them so he will be strong enough to do so.

then imagine tripitaka comes in. tripitaka tries a simple worded approach to tell wukong dont do this dont do that, 'DONT KILL PEOPLE!!!! even though in wukongs mind "they were stealing our stuff and tried to hurt you tho-" the circelt activates.

wukong doesnt understand what did he do wrong? he was protecting his master like he was supposed to right? is this not? is this not how it works? how is this supposed to work?!?!

wukong does not understand most of the time why tripitaka activates the circlet. he did his job to the best of his understanding so why does he keep activating it?!

but i also think about how alot of media portrays the relationship to be father and son. mentor and student

so lets say tripitaca does explain things. but he doesnt explain it good enough. he doesnt understand how little wukong actually genuinly doesnt understand.

hes spent 100's of years on his mountain with other monkeys. he's never had to REALLY think about morals or emotions or complex things like right and wrong. hes just been a funky monkey eating fruit under the sun.

so when tripitaka tries to explain it doesnt get through to wukong because he doesnt understand how wukong works mentally.

"killing people is wrong"

"why, it gets them out of our way faster then just idk kicking them or breakign thier legs"

"because it is wrong wukong"

"but...why? why is it wrong?"

"because murder is evil"

"why, i dont get it, ive seen evil people murder as ive seen good people murder i dont get why it is wrong"

tripitaka is doing what is necasarry to make wukong better. to make him perfect. was he not good enough before? master says he wasnt. so he couldnt have been. but hes good now? yes yes hes good enough hes good hes perfect.

and thats what wukong thinks. thats his mentallity through the journey as the circlect stays. it becomes a mentallity of, "i deserve this" or "its for the best", "he only does this because he cares enough to teach me"

but then he went on the journey. he learned things dont get me wrong he learned important things whether he wanted to or not. he picked up on alot during the journey and even after. he started to see more and understand better the way the world and people work. how morals and consequences affect the world and the things we do and he kept learning throughout his time as hero until he decided to retire. then again he stll doesnt seem to be good enough. he keeps fucking up he keeps making mistakes.

maybe something he "learned" from his master wasnt right?

no no it was fine, that was fine. it was all for the best and betterment of himself.

he does end up finnaly realising that some things he ended up learning/picked up throughout the jourey wasnt right. kind of in the same sense as how abused children adapt to thier surroundings to survive. "dont bother when upset" "watch thier emotions" "keep it to yourself"

i think thats what causes wukongs HORRIBLE communication skills and desire to carry evem the heaviest weight alone on his shoulders.

its when he realises that some things he's been doing and "learned" isnt good. thats not what "normal" or "healthy" people do.

If i was in a story what character would i be? Its a question i ask myself a lot and im not sure which i would be

Hero? No definitely not i hate having people depend on me bc im not good enough and will mess up and everyone better then me, etc

Okay what about love interest? Maybe but probably not bc who is gonna like me? and you could do sm better anyway so they will move on pretty quick besides im never gonna be anyones first choice

Would i be the Villain? Hmm maybe? Its the most likely out of the three i have already said and i have the aesthetic for it but i dont know if i would have the motivaion for actually doing anything? And i would feel so much guilt hurting people that i would quit it pretty quickly(although i do wonder if that would actully depend on what person it is?) I noticed the age you wrote down and I hope you stayed away from all the mature stuff that I write. 📏🧐

1-answer: Believe it or not TWC was my first experience with IF and while I was reading it, all I could think was how bad I wanted to do something similar, like writing a story that people could interact with and make choices. So I joined the forum, learned choicescript, and started working on my very first game The Burning Sun.

2-answer: No I never wrote any non-interactive stories. Interactive fiction is my first experience with writing for the public. From what I've learned about the publishing industry, non-interactive fiction authors can have a hard time finding publishers, and I don't think I could suffer through that process, it seems intimidating.

3-answer: No I never wrote any non-interactive stories. And I don't think I could write a story where I can't give the readers the option to make their own choices. Interactive Fiction ruined it for me. 😅

4-answer: The same as you, I would say, around 14, 15. But those are stories that stayed in my diaries or notebook and were never shared with anyone else. So Interactive Fiction is my first go at making my stories public, and let me tell you I have so many of them. I hope I'll end up writing them all one day and share them.

5-answer: All the time, why do you think I have so many side stories or other projects. As a writer, you are bound to have writer's block. The thing is when it happens, just don't let it stop you and just find a way to relax, give yourself a break, and do something else that you love doing. I wish I could follow my own advice, but... when I get Writer's block, my brain just defaults to write another story. I had writer's block writing the Midnight Saga, so I went on to write Insert Rich Family because it was a story that was more light-hearted and fun. I had writer's block writing Lemons, so I went on to write The Wedding because I wanted my brain to focus on something else. And the cycle continues.

6-answer: I don't. I'm a very disorganized writer, but... I recently applied to be a writer for Heart of Choice and they asked me for a full outline of a game that I pitched them. BOI did I struggle, because when I write my stories I have no idea what chapter 2 or 3 will look like, I just sit down and write and go with the flow. Having had to make a complete outline for the full game without even knowing what it would look like was tough, but... by the end of it, I loved and enjoyed the process and I think I will apply it in my writing from now on. I think having that bit of organization will help in the long run, especially when I have writer's block.

7-answer: No... I just sit down in my kitchen and write. I have a very active brain, so I'm always thinking and always trying to get stuff done. That's why I can do like 3 months' worth of Patreon content, then take a long break because after such high, I crash, then I get high for writing again, then I crash, lol. ll that to say, it's good to take breaks when you get overwhelmed.

8-answer: It's hard to give you a great answer for this because it will depend on what you like and what you're ready to tackle. I will say that writing IF can be challenging, so if you want to start with IF, start small. Try to code a small story, with just one or two NPCs or ROs beside the MC. See how you manage the branching and the development. Don't start big because coding different branches for different interactions can spiral out. I can't really say much about the non-IF part, but I think all IF stories start as non-IF. They only become IF when you start adding choices and branches. 💕

9-answer: I've been fortunate to stay out of some drama here on Tumblr, although my first one did cause me to get blacklisted and blocked from some authors and IF recs. OG readers will know what I'm talking about, and no I don't want to dig out that drama.

I'm grateful for the followers that I have and for every reblog, like, comment, and recommendation. I feel like I'm slowly getting some recognition and that is why I can spot new readers based on their asks. Some people might think I'm new, but no. I've been here a while, just took me some time to make it to your FYP. So how do I handle overbearing or overwhelming comments or asks? If it's something that I feel uncomfortable answering, I just block and delete it. If not, I answer it the best I can because sometimes people may be asking a genuine question, but in writing it, it might come off as rude. So, it's really a case-by-case judgment.

10-answer: Yes, I'm an adult, a millennial. 😭 so old. I went to college in my home country, Haiti, and my degree is in business administration. Nothing to do with writing. My current job which I will lose soon is in Human resources, so writing is just a hobby. But I would love to be able to do this full-time.

Hey im the matsuda enjoyer anon who pointed out that he and yoosung are basically the same guy.

I cant help but imagine......what if they met, i mean in the age of social media its not impossible. While I dont think matsuda was a gamer but he was very much into pop culture and so is yoosung.

What if they both unite over their love for a certain kpop group (in my head its Girls Generation) and become internet friends

I can imagine after the good ending yoosung prolly might go to japan a couple of times for work related stuff or just to enjoy with MC (and drag seven with him as well)

What if the now mid-late 20s yoosung (who is a vet) meets the now early 40s matsuda (who is still a cop but is confined to desk jobs cuz the task force was tired of his shenanigans). What if they decide to share a drink and eventually have a long conversation. What if they start their talks by talking about their shared interest and eventually ending up venting after realising that they had been through a similar journey (being infantilised by their friend groups grief low self esteem yet keeping an optimistic outlook in life) and perhaps share advices to each other whilst being drunk which struck a chord in each other's heart.

I can see matsuda being an older man advising yoosung but i could also see yoosung (who has accomplished a lot in a short time despite his own struggles with loss grief and of course the eye injury) advicing matsuda. Both of them reassuring each other that it will get better (bye im crying)

Good to see you back Matsuda anon! I must say, this ask made me grin so wide as I was reading it. I adore it when people make two of their faves meet and become friends. It's such a sweet notion, both as a way of expressing your shared love for these characters, as well as a neat basis for new interesting analysis. (It's my own guilty pleasure as well, hehe)

Meeting someone who understands what it's like to struggle with grief, conflicting feelings about someone who was once very important to them, and the frustration of never being taken seriously due to their young age would benefit them both greatly. While they both must have overcome the last problem by that point, discussing it with someone who understands can still be very cathartic.

Having a good friend who can make Yoosung feel comfortable and understood is something he deserves. It's also heartwarming to think of Matsuda becoming a new kind of role model for Yoosung! Not on the same level as it was with Rika, but just as a figure of strength and motivation for him, when things are tough. Having friends who are older than you can be a very beneficial experience as you are moving through life!

And as for Matsuda... It'll definitely do him some good to have someone with whom he can openly discuss what he had to go through. Sure, he has a few people like that, but none that can actually fully relate on a deeper level. I also think he'd be super impressed by Yoosung. By all that he managed to overcome and achieve in his (relatively) young age. His determination to better himself and to protect his loved ones, him finding (or rather resurrecting) his passion for his own path in life, and him resolving what conflicting feelings he still held for Rika... It's so much, and it's-

I know I said that Matsuda can become a new role model for Yoosung, but it goes the other way around as well! Having these talks with the younger vet can greatly motivate Matsuda to work on himself further and pursue what he truly wants. It's never too late to restore your happiness. It's rather sweet to think about, actually. Two people who share similar painful experiences planting fresh seeds of hope into one another that everything is going to be okay. As you put it: it will get better.

On a lighter note, the thought of them being fans of the same girl groups makes me giggle. (Them going to a Girls Generation concern??? More likely than you'd think! Although Saeyoung will definitely tag along and create some mischief) I feel like they both are still struggling with openly expressing their likes and interests, as they got teased for that in the past, so it'll be very beneficial to them to have a safe space to chatter excitedly about this or that, without fear of being judged. Being passionate about something is not a bad thing, and should be celebrated! On that note, they will definitely send each other exclusive merch and buy each other tickets for events. There are some benefits to having a friend in a different country!

Overall, it's nice to think of these two being good buddies. It's what they deserve. And I love reading your thoughts on them! :)

this part refering to her feeling like the whole "city" [vivid street] pretty much lied to her and deceived her, everything feels wrong and off now. its not the same home it was before.

after all the hardships theyre still going strong, some dreams were crushed along the way but their main goal is always there.

the pressure bit makes me think about how each of them feels somewhat inferior to the others, [they need therapy istg] which makes them want to constantly keep pushing themselves to do better and better, and to keep going and going. they have what it takes, they just need to work to perfect it. they know they will do it but they still have a lot to figure out, obviously. they get a bit lost and stuck at times trying to get to their desired level but they will surpass rad weekend. someday.

so it's established that cq has the ladybug miraculous and cwil has the cat miraculous! (i haven't come up with unique superhero names so i just stick with ladybug and chat noir)

cwil and ctommy are new transfer students at the school cq goes to. cwil is a model like adrien in the show except he's a pretentious prick and an asshole n he makes a pretty bad first impression on everyone but alot of people try to get on his good side despite that cuz hes uber rich. cwil notices this and hates it. cq dislikes cwil along with alot of other people but he just ignores cwil in the beginning n doesn't talk to him + they don't rly interact.

then we have the gum situation that happens in the beginning of the actual show except it's a little different! one day some guy pisses cwil off by making offhanded rude comments abt him n his family calling him a rich spoiled brat and allat so hes determined to stick gum on the guy's seat but oops...!!!! he puts it on the wrong seat!!!!!

so cq sits on the gum and hes like. who fucking did this n the rest of the class stare at cwil n cwil sits there looking smug as hell but inside he feels a bit bad. but then cqs pent up irritation blows up n he starts yelling at cwil abt how insufferable he's been ever since he's stepped in the school n wilbur's like oh??? then insults him back n they have a heated argument in front of the entire class then break it up when the teacher arrives. so this starts their whole dynamic.. their rivalry begins when they they constantly try to one up each other to get on the others nerves. on tests? wil gets the highest grade in the class without even studying while q always studies his ass off for exams n it pisses him off so he studies extra hard so on the next exam HE gets the highest score n knocks wil down a peg

im guessing you're asking about my thoughts on akutagawa and ssk separately and not one in regards to the other? i absolutely ADORE akutagawa like he's sooooooooo funny 'i dont remember introducing myself as mute' KING SHIT but also on a more serious note he makes me sooooooo sad and it only gets worse the more of the manga you read. i can really see some solid foundations for a redemption (mind 'redemption' means in regards to bsd where very few characters come close to actually morally good so yk. pinch of salt) and i just think if dazai got his happy ending the akutagawa should too. there's a whole cycle of abuse in bsd that goes mori -> dazai -> akutagawa -> kyouka and out of ALL OF THEM kyouka was the only one to break away from it, but AKUTAGAWA was the only one to show some sort of humanity. even dazai only complimented akutagawa because he was kinda pushed into it by atsushi, whereas akutagawa UNPROMPTED with ZERO GOOD ROLE MODELS told kyouka that he was proud of her. he's still incredibly young and he was brought into this world when he was even younger and he's very much a 'i excuse his heinous crimes' character bc he was cool while he did it. i just want him to be hugged :(

so yes im a BIG shin soukoku shipper because i love akutagawa but i also love love LOVE atsushi, and i just think them paired together works so surprisingly well. initially it was the classic 'light/dark, sunshiney one/grumpy one' etc, but it's actually more than that. atsushi, someone usually so kind to the point of being a bit of a pushover, never hesitates to snap up Thee Port Mafia's Hellhound. like they argue with each other! and it's so important both for akutagawa, who doesnt really have anyone keeping him in check let alone even ATTEMPTING to enforce a moral code, and also atsushi, who seems to only defend himself so shamelessly, so instinctively, when it comes to akutagawa. they're on complete level playing fields for the first time in their lives and they make each other stronger and they're each other's greatest fear and worst enemy and other half and it's a love story told twice before and certainly will be told again and maybe one day, one day it wont have such a tragic ending
