Fun facts/notes:
-In two promos leading up to DGUSA, Mox focuses on Bryan’s use of the Lebell Lock, how he’s been “throwing it out left and right”, and saying he “called it” when Danielson uses it as his finisher to win the US Championship. It ends up being the finisher Bryan defeats Mox with at their DGUSA match.
-They would not face each other again until 2011, this time as Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan in WWE.
-Under these names they’d go on to have 87 matches with one another between the years of 2011-2015. 80 matches were fought against one another —the majority as part of a tag team, trios or more. 7 of the matches were singles. Link
-They also had one WWE match as a tag team in 2018, as part of a Tribute to the Troops special. Link
-“Daniel Bryan” was the very first person “Dean Ambrose” fought in WWE after being signed to his developmental deal in 2011. They had two back to back house shows in December 2011, in Florida and Long Island, NY. Bryan won both. Clip of the first match. Entrances from the second match. Clip from second match.
-As of March 2012, Dean Ambrose had yet to make his first TV appearance in WWE but Daniel Bryan was singing his praises. (quote and audio post on tumblr)
-They would not face each other in a match as “Jon Moxley” and “Bryan Danielson” again until March 6, 2022.
-Jon Moxley was not incorrect in his February 16, 2022 Dynamite promo when he said he’d never beaten “Bryan Danielson,” despite having wins over “Daniel Bryan” while part of The Shield and beating him once as “Dean Ambrose” in a solo match in 2013 by DQ.
-Mox uses many callbacks from these early promos in his aforementioned Dynamite promo (which I’ve done an edit of here)
-In 2018, Bryan detailed the events of their first meeting, which is near verbatim to Mox’s promo. He says they had “instant chemistry”. Link He also mentioned this in a different interview during 2018. Quote (along with video)
-In his first DGUSA promo Mox says he wants “something more” with Bryan. During the match, after making Danielson bleed, the commentator calls back to that promo and suggests the something more Moxley wanted is blood. In the Dynamite promo Mox says “It just made me want it more” and he ends the promo with “I don’t stand beside no one until I bleed with them first.”
-In their August 2010 match Mox kisses Bryan’s arm. In their September 2010 match, he kisses his mouth. Link
-At DGUSA, the ring apparently disappeared and they had to scrabble to get another one. Mox and Bryan both started getting excited about doing the match without one and even pitched the idea together of how they could do the show instead. Link
-It appears people thought Moxley was referring to their August 2010 match in his February 2022 Dynamite promo (thinking it was their first meeting) and not their 2007 one. I’ve updated the Blackpool Combat Club Wikipedia page to reflect this.

This is going to be fairly long, and also much more serious than my usual jjba meta. apologies in advance if i seem stilted: i have some issues with verbalizing things in a formal matter
Terunosuke Miyamoto's fate and portrayal are another egregious example of the subconscious bias present in Araki's work.
When I mention how Terunosuke was one of two characters to be given a fate worse than death in part 4, that he was the only p4 character to be nameless until years after the manga was completed, or that his fate was arguably undeserved, i am not saying anything new.
But I feel like not many people consider or realize that Terunosuke is canonically the only dark-skinned character in all of diamond is unbreakable.
Not only that, he is somewhat implied to be a foreigner in the manga (i cannot find a scan with a translation, but the canned drink he destroys is notably labeled as fruit lassi and it has a small drawing of an indian elephant on it).
In a part set in Japan, the only dark-skinned character, a character who is also implied to not be Japanese:
-is one of the few villains deemed irredeemable.
-is portrayed as uniquely sadistic, manipulative, and predatory, even when his actions are less or equally malicious than the actions of other characters. He kidnapped people and took hostages, but so did rohan. He threatened Josuke's family, but so did akira, and josuke was perfectly content with letting akira go to jail regularly.
-in fact, his crimes, crimes which are not unique among the cast of DIU, are deemed by Josuke to be as horrific as angelo's crimes, which were in fact uniquely horrible among the cast of diu.
-is given no characterization or motivation outside of sadism, to the point where he had no name for a good couple of years.
-is never mentioned or shown in canon again, which happens to few other DIU characters. Not even in the added davidpro epilogue scenes, which show other characters that were previously MIA after their respective arcs (such as toyohiro).
In fact, Davidpro actually makes his portrayal WORSE, all because of one small detail.
When his cover is shown onscreen, there's a small sticker on it that says, verbatim, "Morioh Public Library." Josuke hasn’t been to the library at that point. I may be reading in too deep, but the implication is that this sticker is part of his “body” and can’t be removed.
Terunosuke is the only dark skinned character in diamond is unbreakable, and the last proper shot of him is an image of him being..basically branded. It’s hard for this to not leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.
I do not think araki or davidpro were being intentionally malicious or bigoted in their handling of Terunosuke. The meaning of subconscious bias is that it is subconscious, so i do not think the enigma boy arc or terunosuke in general were written in bad faith .
However, the racism, colorism, and xenophobia that saturate his role in the story (to be a disposable and irredeemable villain who is only meant to be another obstacle in the face of our golden-hearted hero ) and his fate (to be literally dehumanized and locked away, never to be seen again, presumably for the "safety and greater good of morioh") are very clear.
Anti-discourse disclaimer fine text:
i am not trying to cancel jjba, diu, araki, davidpro, or any related concepts and parties, and i am not trying to make claims about the personal beliefs or agendas of hirohiko araki or members of david productions in any way, shape, or form. i am just writing about subconscious bias and how it possibly shaped a story arc in diu. i am not trying to give moral judgement to araki, davidpro, or any fans of jjba in this post. i am not trying to stop the collective you from enjoying things, just trying to inform. also, racism, xenophobia and colorism are bad. I edited this post due to quoting something based on an unofficial and incorrect translation and making a hypocritical point in the concluding paragraph.

Honestly i think one of the funniest things about "TMA is a workplace comedy" is that any batshit dialogue is a complete coinflip as to whether it was extrapolated from a scene, or full verbatim what was said in the show. "Gouge out your eyes and run away with me" isn't canon, but "It's remarkably easy to find an axe in central London" is. Look me in the eyes and tell me that the entire "what is that?" "my... uh... my rib....." scene doesn't read like an incorrect quotes account. I love this show.

Lucy Theorization: Connections to Wanda(...?)
I think I've mentioned this once before, but I really wanted to bring up something interesting I've noticed about Lucy as of late... More specifically, her 'relationship', or lack thereof (we'll get into that in a second) with Wanda.
Now, I'm sure we all know by now, but just in case by some miracle someone's forgotten: Wanda's whole niche is around time travel. Very frequently when speaking to the survivors, she'll get the past, present and future all mixed up in her head, and sort of forget which one's which.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On top of this, she also frequently uses occurrences in previously visited timelines and directly relates them to present ones- which also frequently leads to confusion when there's discrepancies between them. This is what I really want to focus on, here. Now let's take a look at this quote for a second:
Tumblr media
This quote in particular has always struck me as odd. Wanda doesn't know about Lucy's existence.
Now, of course, I've mentioned before that Woodie's compendium update already confirms Lucy to be a canonical, 'living' entity. Not a figment of anyone's imagination. And I'm pretty sure it's well known at this point that even Maxwell of all people is willing to indulge the axe's personhood. But, if you need even more evidence, even Wagstaff of all people knows full well that something is amiss with her:
Tumblr media
So we can pretty much guarantee here that Wanda is incorrect in her silent assumption that Lucy isn't real or alive. But the real question of the matter is how could that possibly be? It isn't as though she doesn't spend a lot of time around Woodie. She seems perfectly well versed in his deeper secrets (shown below), and not to mention it's very clear she's been around him long enough to know how much he cares about her. Obviously she's aware that he considers Lucy to be alive. She just doesn't believe him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really, I can only see this phenomenon having two implications.
Theory one is that this is meant to imply that this is the only timeline in which Lucy is actually alive. While I suppose I have no definitive proof to argue this point with, I don't think this is the case at all. Especially when we consider a lot of the similarities Wanda elaborates on between timelines (Willows are all seemingly arsonists, Abigail is seemingly always deceased, ect):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really, the theory I'm leaning towards is the second of the two options: Lucy doesn't like Wanda.
Now the why of the matter is to be debated, but I definitely don't think this theory is implausible. For one, it's been pretty much canonically confirmed by Klei that Lucy doesn't really allow her existence to be noticed by those who she does not trust. If she does talk, it's frequently- if only- with Woodie, somewhere where she doesn't think she'll be overheard.
Tumblr media
However, it's very clear through both the compendium itself, as well as the other survivor's quotes that they've got at least a hunch that Lucy's not your typical axe. And in the case of, again, Maxwell, as well as Wortox*, their dialogue implies they've actually spoken to each other before.
Tumblr media
While it's by no means solid evidence of anything, we do have to consider that we still don't know anything about Lucy's history, nor how she came to be at all. Though if it's anything similar to the magic Maxwell wields, or perhaps something similar to the Constant's natural magic like with Wortox, a native, it might explain why Lucy seems to be so amicable with the two of them... And, considering how much Wanda hates both Maxwell and Wortox, it would give her an excuse for keeping quiet around her specifically.
*It has come to my attention that somewhere in between Wortox's introduction and now, Klei have changed Wortox's Lucy quote. Unfortunately, I can't find the original line verbatim, but it was something along the lines of "She tells good jokes". As of present day, it's now "An axe is an axe, those are the facts". I have literally no idea why they would change it, but the focus on altering that quote in particular is incredibly odd.
tldr: - Wanda, who knows a frightening amount of pretty much every survivor- on account of her time traveling abilities- knows absolutely nothing about Lucy, and does not believe she is alive at all - Lucy has canonically slipped up around other survivors in the past, and has even been implied to willingly speak to some of them before- though whether in the past or present is unclear - The implication here is that Lucy is either afraid or otherwise distrustful of Wanda, and has never once slipped up around her, despite the fact that she can't say the same about most, if not all of the other survivors - Also Wanda's kind of impolite to both Woodie and Lucy :( knock it off Wanda. Show some respect.

Rules: Post 10 of your favorite movies and tag 10 people.
10) Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
there is something so delightful about this movie. it’s fun, it’s camp, and i will never say no to jack black shenanigans and karen gillan being a BAMF. also bethany is transmasc send tweet
9) Ant-Man and the Wasp
i will fight tooth and nail about the fact that the ant-man movies are the best movies from the mcu. if there is any mcu movie i rewatch and don’t scrub through, it’s this one.
8) Girl VS Monster
this movie is pure art. diemata’s “nothing’s gonna stop me now” is a cultural reset for me. also the skylar/ryan/myra throuple just about being canon when they sing “had me @ hello” together at the end of the movie??? we love to see poly rep
7) Knives Out
this movie is just art. i love a good murder mystery and this is great with a rewatch. i think glass onion was really great too but this one in particular will hold a special place in my heart.
6) Lovestruck
i’m SO mad that they moved this to hulu premium because it used to be on the freeform app. but basically it’s a movie musical where a woman takes a de-aging potion and tries to get her daughter’s husband to cheat on her daughter with her now young self. it’s got drew seely and chelsea kane singing “dj got us fallin’ in love” and i want to perform this dance at my wedding. also “how can i remember to forget” is SUCH a good ballad
5) Enchanted
who doesn’t love enchanted? it’s my favorite disney movie and though the sequel is mid, the original will ALWAYS be the best. the “so close” scene where robert starts singing UGH my heart.
4) Crazy Rich Asians
this is one of those movies that i find myself rewatching a lot with my family specifically. we can quote some scenes verbatim. we just love this movie. it’s a delight.
3) Room
this is a big change in tone but i just love this movie. i stan brie larson. stream “finally out of p.e.” that album slaps. but yeah it’s just heartbreaking and it’s always great on the rewatch and jacob tremblay is so good and so is brie larson and i just love it. it hurts me but in the best way possible.
2) Free Guy
i can’t articulate how much i love this movie. ryan reynolds. jodie corner. joe keery. the guy who plays rajit in basmati blues. it’s so funny and it’s one that i will never get sick of and it just brings me so much joy.
1) I Kissed A Vampire
this movie is awful. it’s terrible. it’s near unwatchable. but it is my Favorite Movie. i know so much of it by heart. i know the choreography. i know every lyric of every song. i bought the deluxe album on apple music. i’ve watched it with every person who lets me subject them to this awful movie. i’ve had friendships threatened because of this movie. i know way too much about this movie and the actors in it. i’ve seen the original web series just as much. if you haven’t watched the movie and love bad movies, watch it. it’s got drew seeley as an angsty vampire who is SO politically incorrect named trey sylvania. it’s got lucas grabeel (ryan from high school musical) as the lead. and it’s got the 17 year old daughter of the producer playing the main female love interest and her performace is absolutely grueling and i love her so much. apparently she works with snakes now??? go you queen.

Wait so for the Mindy cop AU would it be like that scene in Brooklyn Nine Nine where it’s like:
Mini, arresting someone: You have the right to remain—
Rudy: A loser!
I'm very proud to say that quite a few moments are inspired by B99 (especially Peraltiago)
Heck, what inspired the Cop AU in its earliest stages was that one opening scene where Jake makes the suspects sing, "I Want It That Way", and I instantly thought: That has such Rudy energy, haha
Which was when the idea of the cop AU possessed me.
I may not add the jokes / incorrect quotes verbatim, but, yeah, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has influenced it, a lot.

Noticing the weird trend where a particular, popular, negative take with snappy or unusual wording will take off and Tumblr people (and honestly non-tumblr people - maybe just social media people?) will start practically quoting it here and on Twitter and Twitch and elsewhere as their verbatim opinions.
Probably happens with less of a linguistic signature often enough, too, but it's been noticeable lately. I will not be providing examples cuz I'm too lazy to get evidence.
Feeling a compulsion to remind people that there are alternative and less extreme opinions than the ones that become popular on social media. It's ok not to make "ideologically correct and theoretically informed" your entire shtick, especially when half of what everyone says online is "judgemental opinion based on info that is factually incorrect."

Are the Children of the Watch a cult?
Traits of religious cults (from Cult Recovery):
The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment.
Is the Armorer their leader? Possibly. She certainly behaves like an elder, and her opinion is respected. I would hesitate to call their zeal excessive, however. Her role in the Tribe seems to be to resolve conflict. Both times Paz and Din come to blows (TBOBF episode 5 spoilers), the Armorer keeps silence for a while, then works towards reconciliation. ‘How can one be a coward and choose this life?’ ‘There is only one way to return to the Creed.’ ‘This is the Way.’ Her words are few, but important. She is the definition of a leader doesn’t start fights, but they can finish them.
I do not consider the Tribe’s respect for the Armorer unhealthy.
Checklist: ❌
The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
No scenes of recruitment have been shown. Din’s commitment to the foundling Grogu is one-way; till Grogu is reunited with his own kind, Din is as his father. I quote almost verbatim. They make no attempt to convert the child or incorporate him into their Tribe. He’s a child.
I see Din’s group as a closed religion, far from evangelical.
Checklist: ❌
The group is preoccupied with making money.
Some confusion has arisen over Paz’s line in The Mandalorian that they could only go above ground one at a time. Nowhere does he say that Din was the only member permitted to go above ground. Indeed, as @a-aristippus has pointed out, that implication would have led to very different syntax—‘only one of us could go above ground,’ for example.
I do not consider Din’s bounty hunting to support the Tribe a group preoccupation with making money. Neither do I consider it parentification, a one-sided burden, or (god forbid) financial abuse. The blacksmith’s forge sustains him, spiritually, with recognition (signet, anyone?) and validation when he brings his material gains to the Tribe for witnessing. They are a community in which each member has their place.
In societies in our own history, when married women were literally not allowed to work, would you say they forced their husbands to work to support them? Why do you blame Din’s covert instead of the wider circumstances which restrict them?
Checklist: ❌
Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
I have put these traits together because they have the same key theme of critical thinking, a thing sadly lacking in many takes I’ve seen. Refer to the Armorer’s initial silence as Paz and Din butt heads. They air their opinions. They disagree, often violently; the other members (in the sewers, at least) stand by and watch. Opposing voices are heard. Debate to the point of blows is not silenced.
In TBOBF ep 5, Din voices what a real cult leader would have taken as a challenge to authority. He gives his interpretation of the Creed: ‘Loyalty and solidarity are the Way.’ Even though he isn’t disagreeing with the Creed itself, he is disagreeing with the Armorer, who was reluctant to forge a gift for Grogu because she thinks Jedi aren’t allowed attachments. (also incorrect, but that’s another post) Din wants her to honour their Creed with the foundling.
Note the Armorer’s response. She then asks what she should make for Grogu. She is saying, You’re right. You were right to disagree with me. I see your point. I will do as you wish.
Checklist: ❌❌
Because this is getting long, I’ll tackle the thornier issues on the checklist in a reblog. But before that, I need to repeat ad nauseam the mantra of do not take characters’ words at face value. Good narratives show a plurality of perspectives. The truth is usually somewhere in between.

For the ship ask Kate and Seth ?
001 | send me a ship and I will tell you:
when I started shipping them: Somewhere around the beginning of season two is when I started shipping them, but it wasn't until season three that they became an OTP for me. Not sure when exactly because I got into the fandom pretty late, season three had aired and season four was still assumed to be a go, and binge watched the whole thing over a matter of weeks. I was vaguely aware that most people shipped Kate with one or both Gecko brothers going in, which pretty much set me up to notice things through a shipper lens from the beginning.
my thoughts: Not sure what all this wants. They are my OTP of the FDtD fandom, which pretty much says everything about my thoughts on them as a ship.
What makes me happy about them: ... Everything? They have a wonderful journey on screen and end up just how I'd want them to by the end of the series.
What makes me sad about them: Their father/father figure never got to meet. Jacob and Eddie would have been a wonderful combo that we were robbed of *sobs*
things done in fanfic that annoys me: I feel like there's so much and yet so little that annoy me in fics all at once. Probably because I feel that just about any fic concept/trope/whatever can be done at least reasonably well if someone's willing to put in the effort, so there's not much I'd discount as long as it's done well. I guess from that standpoint it would be when a fic is completely set to another book/movie/show and they take line by line and action by action verbatim in its entirety. A little is absolutely understandable, there are plenty of moments where two different characters would say the exact same thing in the exact same way, and I know there are people who have a preference for it so to each their own, but for me I'd rather the majority of lines be rewritten, actions reconfigured, and plot tweaked to fit the character saying/doing/living through it. (This is for fics only; fanvids, gifs, incorrect quotes, etc all have their reasons for why it doesn't annoy me there.)
things I look for in fanfic: I have a soft spot for FDtD AUs, but really I'll read just about anything as long as I like the writing.
Who'd I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I'm not sure there is anyone. I don't usually have others I like with my OTPs, lol. I suppose in show, Kate getting to date a new character for a bit would have been something I could have gotten behind, but that's probably about as far as I would have wanted. And I wouldn't have wanted it to be a permanent thing.
My happily ever after for them: The years go by and they're still doing their thing, sometimes pulling scores sometimes dealing with the latest culebra crisis because their histories and brothers have given them permanent ties to that world. Eventually Seth decides he doesn't want to be a "faded old con looking for one last score" and they start to slow down. Kate's enjoyed their run, but it was always more Seth's dream than hers and she's ready to put down her gloves and Rayburns. They don't go traditional, Seth can't stand to be doing the same job for more than a few months and Kate no longer wants the traditional (she's not sure she's ever wanted it if she's honest, or if she just thought she did because it was expected of her.) They have kids eventually, when Seth's down to one score every couple of years with Richie, and Kate's studying anything and everything that catches her attention. She can do that now, when they have so much disposable income they don't know what to do with it and she's managed to convince the Geckos that feast to famine and back again isn't a way to handle finances. Half-settled down in a warehouse-turned-living quarters in the desert, surrounded by thieves and bloodsuckers, and on the road a couple months out of the year because home is people, not places, and their people wander just as much as they do.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Seth's the big spoon. Kate's more often to not be in the "spooning" position, lying on her back or side, facing him sometimes and others not. Seth's a very tactile person and its not uncommon for Kate to crawl into bed while he's sleeping only for him to wake up just enough to throw an arm over her and pull her close with a sleepy mumble.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Its less about the activity and more about getting to spend time together. For the two of them, so much of their life has been running from or towards one traumatic event after the next that sometimes just getting to sit and be for a moment is very much appreciated. Whether they're watching a movie, Seth interrupting to point out some all-important part or complain about some little tidbit, or sharing a quiet moment where Kate can share the thoughts in her head, the fact that the can do it together is more than what they are actually doing.
Thanks so much for asking!

Guess who's back? I was hoping you could envision a fluffy #3, "I'm too sober for this", with Josh? I love him and we didn't see any of him in the last prompt list.
Add Josh Washington to the list of Rami Malek characters done so wrong—this fluffy piece takes place before the events of Until Down during Josh’s first year of college.
* * * * *
Josh knew that if he slunk any lower in his chair, he would fall asleep. It was no lie that freshman got the shittiest course times for classes, but a 7 pm class with Professor Hughes was the absolute worst part of Josh’s day.
It was too late by the time he found out that Psych 101 with Hughes was the shittiest combination in his entire major, so every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Josh trudged to class. Well, most Fridays. He had calculated that as long as he aced his tests and only missed three classes, he would still get an A in the course.
And the tests were easy—Professor Hughes pulled the test questions from the end-of-unit practice exams. The part that was the worst was the class consisted of Hughes reading to them from their textbook . . . verbatim. No discussion. No checks for comprehension. Just. Reading. Aloud.
“European philosophers continued to ask these fundamental questions during the Renaissance. For instance, the French philosopher René Descartes (1596–1650) also considered the issue of free will, arguing in its favor and believing that the mind controls the body through the pineal gland in the brain (an idea that made some sense at the time but was later proved incorrect).
Descartes also believed in the existence of innate natural abilities. A scientist as well as a philosopher, Descartes dissected animals and was among the first to understand that the nerves controlled the muscles. He also addressed the relationship between mind (the mental aspects of life) and body believed in the principle of dualism: that the mind is fundamentally different from the mechanical body. Other European philosophers, including Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679), John Locke (1632–1704), and Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712–1778), also weighed in on these issues.”
"I'm too sober for this," Josh said under his breath, causing you to giggle.
Josh tilted his beanie-clad head back, catching your eye and shooting you a smirk. Over the past few weeks, the two of you had become pretty-good class buddies. Most of your class consisted of adults and commuters, but there was a small group of freshman Psych majors that had been sticking it out together. It wasn’t unusual for Josh and the others to take a few shots before they showed up to class like the upper classmen had advised them to do.
You quietly tore off a piece of notebook paper and scrawled, Was that why you missed class last week? Couldn’t pass up on the big party?
You poked Josh in the back and he reached behind him without even turning to grab your note. By Friday, neither you nor Josh could survive the two-hour class without some form of entertainment, so you had taken to writing notes to pass the time.
You know I had to get my pre-game on. Thought you were gonna make an appearance?
As you read over Josh’s response, you wondered whether you should tell him the truth—that you never drank so parties like that weren’t your scene. You knew Josh was a seasoned partier and you didn’t want him to think that you were judging his choice to drink. You also didn’t want him to think you were totally lame like a lot of people did when they found out.
You sighed and quickly scrawled, Confession: I don’t party—don’t drink, don’t smoke, nothing. I’m just not into the whole ‘let’s get fucked up’ scene.
When Josh read your response, he straightened up in his chair and grabbed his pen, quickly writing back, Let me get this straight. You are always totally sober every single time you come to this class? And you never miss a class?
You smiled a little and wrote back, Yup. I take Professor Hughes 3x a week totally straight.
When Josh read your response, he turned around and looked at you with an open-mouthed expression of awe. He shook his head and then turned around, reaching for his pen again.
You are far more of a badass than I am.
You smiled as you read his words, pleased that he didn’t think you were totally lame.
“Class dismissed. See you on Monday,” Professor Hughes stated in the same monotone voice with which he read the textbook.
Josh turned around the instant everyone began to shuffle their belongings into their bags.
“I just figured you didn’t come take shots with us because you did them with other people.”
You stood up, placing your bookbag on your chair in order to pack up your stuff.
 “Nope. I just don’t . . . drink.”
“I feel like an ass for bugging you to come to that party now,” Josh said as he finally stood, too.
“I’m glad you invited me. I just wasn’t sure how to tell you that I don’t party. I didn’t want you to think I was judging you or anyone else and people usually think I’m pretty lame once they find out. Or they befriend me to have a chronic DD,” you finished with a shrug of your shoulders.
Josh had finished packing his bag while you talked and now stood with it flung over one shoulder. He was holding onto the strap, looking just a little nervous.
You arched your brow and asked, “What?”
“Uh, well, if partying isn’t your thing, how would you feel about coming over to watch a movie?”
“Won’t your friends miss you at tonight’s party? It is Friday night.”
“Oh, definitely. I’m hilarious, ya know. But I really wanna hang out with you—I mean, how often does someone get to meet a superhero with the ability to stay awake and sober in Professor Hughes’s class?”
You laughed, “Alright. Yeah, I’d love to watch a movie with you. As long as you have good taste,” you added, teasing Josh.
“I’m offended. You never listen to a thing I say, well, read a thing I write.”
“Not true,” you said, patting the side of your bookbag. “I keep every word.”
Josh looked like he could kiss you in that moment, clearly touched that you had kept your exchanged notes.
So when he smiled at you, a wide, happy grin, your stomach did a little flip.
“Let’s get the hell out of Dodge,” Josh said, quoting an old TV show and offering you his arm.
You smiled and shook your head at him as you linked your arm in his.
