AU headcanons: Hellcheer 'we've both been feeding this stray cat and think of it as our cat' AU
oh my god YES
it's the scraggliest looking cat ever to have lived and eddie absolutely hates that it's claimed his front steps as its evening hangout because that's where he likes to have a cigarette after work. he didn't sign up for a feline companion at all, and certainly not one that looks like it's gonna give him rabies if he gets too close
eventually he warms up to it because it kills a rat and drops it at eddie's feet and he can't deny the fact that it's metal as fuck and from then on he shares bits of food (usually fast food like bits of hamburgers and fries) with the cat and calls it "little devil"
chrissy, on the other hand, constantly calls it "pretty kitty" and dotes on the thing every fuckin' morning with wet food and treats and a million scritches behind its ears before she leaves for work in the morning (she lives next door to eddie)
they've never formally met but occasionally they'll cross paths coming/going from their apartments and that's how they realize the cat has been hitting both of them up for food and attention
turns out it's actually argyle's cat and it's always fucking hungry because that dumbass hotboxes the fuck out of his apartment and the poor cat gets subjected to it every goddamn day lmao

Happy birthday @innytoes!!!
This fic is based on the post you made that got me to ship RayReggie in the first place. I wrote this fic to honor the shenanigans the post led to. Thank you for being my friend and indulging my ideas. You’re such a creative and supportive person, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate your birthday.
“Help me propose to Julie.”
Reggie was stoked that Luke was getting engaged. Julie was the best, which was reason enough to be excited, but it also meant that Reggie would get the chance to be the best best man in the history of best men (Bobby and Alex were more than happy to let Reggie be best man because he was so excited about it). Reggie was going to knock the whole best man thing out of the park.
You know, after Luke proposed and all of that.
Luke wrote a song for her because of course he did. He was Luke. He showed it to Reggie and got his input, and Reggie was touched that Luke trusted him enough as a musician to workshop his proposal song with him. He also asked for Reggie’s help to plan the location, day, and time.
“Shouldn’t you coordinate that with Julie?” Reggie asked.
“I need you to be there too. Her family is going to want pictures, especially her aunt. She’s already been hinting about it.”
“So, you want me to creepily hide in the bushes and take photos of you proposing?”
“Yes?” Luke said, sounding unsure now that Reggie phrased it like that.
Reggie shrugged, smiling. “Sure, sounds fun!” Then he got an idea. “Actually, do you want a professional photographer to do it?”
“I don’t really want to pay a stranger to creepily hide in the bushes and take pictures of me.”
“You don’t have to pay a stranger,” Reggie clarified. “I know a guy who will do it for free.” He started fidgeting with his fingers. “I’m actually, kind of, dating a guy who will do it for free.”
Reggie hadn’t told the band about Ray. It was just easier that way. Alex already teased him about his Daddy Thing without knowing that his boyfriend was a silver fox, and he didn’t want to subject Ray to the shovel talk Luke and Bobby would most certainly give him. He liked him—loved him—too much for that. (And besides, Ray had also yet to introduce Reggie to his adult children, so they were, like, mutually hiding each other from the people in their lives.)
But recently, he’d been trying to figure out how to bring it up. Their relationship was getting more serious, and they were thinking about moving in together, and he couldn’t just say to the guys one day, “Hey, I’m moving out so I can live with a guy you’ve never met and who I’ve never even mentioned until now, okay bye!”
Luckily, the perfect opportunity had fallen into his lap. Luke needed a photographer. And Ray was a photographer. Luke couldn’t say anything negative about Ray or their relationship if Ray was doing something nice for him. Plus, Luke would get some awesome shots of the proposal, so it was a win-win.
Luke’s face lit up. “Wait, since when are you dating someone?”
“A little while,” Reggie said, unwilling to go into details just yet. “But he’s a professional photographer, and he’d definitely help us out if I asked.”
“Sweet! Let me know when he’s available!”
That was how Reggie found himself anxiously waiting for Luke with Ray at the agreed-upon location so they could go over the plan before Julie showed up.
Ray must have noticed that Reggie was nervous because he took Reggie’s hand. “It’s going to be okay. Your friends sound like lovely people. I’m sure it will go just fine.”
“You’re not nervous at all?”
“Maybe a little. It helps that I have my camera and reason to be here besides just meeting your friend and his fiancé as your boyfriend.”
“They’re not engaged yet. He still has to propose, remember?”
“Of course.”
Reggie spotted Luke as he rounded the hedge that Reggie and Ray would be hiding behind, and he waved him over. “Hey!” He pointed at Ray. “This is—”
“Mr. Molina?!” Luke’s eyes were wide.
“Luke?” Ray said.
Reggie glanced between them as he realized that they recognized each other. “Oh. You two know each other?”
“Better question:” Luke said, “you’re dating my girlfriend’s dad?”
Reggie processed Luke’s words and said, “Wait, your Julie,” he pointed at Luke, “and your Julie” he pointed at Ray, “are the same Julie???”
“Hold on,” Ray said, “You knew Luke was dating someone named Julie, and you knew my daughter’s name is Julie, and you didn’t put that together?”
“There’s a lot of Julies in LA! I could say the same thing about how you never figured out that my Luke and Julie’s Luke are the same Luke!”
Ray stared off into space as he processed that. “You’re right.”
Holy shit, Reggie was dating the father of his best friend’s fiancé (soon-to-be-fiancé, but still). He’d met Julie, just not as Ray’s daughter. That meant that if he and Ray got married, he’d be Julie’s stepdad. And by extension, after Julie and Luke got married, he’d be Luke’s stepfather-in-law, even though Luke was older than him.
It was that—the idea of being the stepfather-in-law to his best friend who was older than him—that broke him.
It started with a snort that descended into a fit of hysterical giggles. As Reggie practically doubled over, holding Ray’s hand for all he was worth in an attempt to keep himself upright, Luke said, “I think we broke him.” Which of course only made Reggie laugh harder.
“Just give him a minute,” Ray said back. “He’ll settle down.”
When Reggie could breathe again, he wiped the tears from his eyes. “Sorry, this is just… too weird.”
“Oh, it’s too weird for you?” Luke said. “I just found out that my best friend is dating my girlfriend’s dad!”
Ray added, “And I just found out that my boyfriend is friends with my future son-in-law.”
“Yeah, I think we can all agree that this is super weird,” Luke said, “but anyway, thank you for helping us, Mr. Molina.”
“Luke, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Ray?”
“At least one more,” Reggie quipped before they started discussing logistics.
The proposal went off without a hitch. Everyone cried when Luke performed his song for Julie, and Ray managed to get some amazing shots to show Julie’s aunt later. Julie only stared off into space for a few minutes when she learned about her dad’s relationship with her fiancé’s best friend, so that was a win.
And when Luke and Reggie told Alex and Bobby about the whole thing later? They made him sign a contract saying he was only allowed one dad joke per year with the penalty that he wouldn’t get to be best man. Reggie happily signed it knowing that after the wedding, once he had already been best man, it would be open season on the dad jokes.
And he already knew the perfect opportunity for the first one: his best man speech.

More post office bounty from the Missing Wad Of Letters that didn’t make it to me around the holidays when it should have! There’s one more to come after this as well. Holy shit, I was thinking I might have to discontinue this tradition, much as I love it, because it was such a struggle to photograph and then shout out all of these, but you can all thank Adderall for the fact that I think I can continue to do this. :D
Up top are a pair of delightful cards from @celticjade13 (Baby Yoda) and @sandralyn (lovely winter horse). I paired them and photographed them because both were sent by DOGSLED! Carried by Blair Braverman, who in addition to being an awesome dogsledder has a new book coming out this fall. Regret to inform that the cats are still highly uninterested in them even if they have fun smells, but I think it’s pretty awesome, and I was so pleased to get two of them. Thank you for the unique holiday wishes!
lower image has some lovely green holiday trees from D in Florida; I’m so glad the fic and food has entertained! The “Season’s Greetings” card with the cabin and the lovely fluffy fellow next to it are from @innytoes and the delightful Deeks -- I’m very honored to be thought of as a “real” adult since I rarely think of myself as such :D And the Spooky Breakfast Feast, Fresh Gossip envelope, and series of super fun stickers are from E and Niamh (the kitty!) -- love all of it, but especially the Axolotl who hates everything in the upper right. :D Some stickers will go on my kitchen hutch where I collect them, some will probably go on my favorite notebook, but I think I may pry a sticker off my laptop and replace it with the little Axolotl of Loathing. :D

wip guessing game: hands, smile, pout
“Bobby,” Luke murmurs. Slowly, he hugs Bobby from behind, hooking his chin over his partner’s shoulder. Bobby melts under Luke’s touch, relaxing into the hug, putting their hands over his. “We’re not going anywhere without you.”
(from "some might say i'm a superhero" -- also, "hands" appears 134 times in the spidey-reg document (~40 from what's yet to be posted) so i chose one 😭)
Thomas throws an arm over Reggie’s shoulder, and they smile for a selfie, which Reggie quickly forwards to Alex.
(from "light pink sky / up on the roof: you've been stressed out lately? yeah me too" -- bc we love a prequel moment except when it features alex douchebag boyfriend-at-the-time)
“You love us,” Reggie says with a pout.
(from "ever since i saw your face, i got it tattooed on my brain" -- said to alex, who teased hating bobby and reggie for being affectionate)
thank you!!!! <3
send me a word, if it’s in my wip document i’ll answer your ask with the sentence that it appears in

wip guessing game: snuggle, tears, pout, red
snuggle
i for some reason have not used the word snuggle in my WIPs??? probably should rectify that.
tears
from a star sweetly gleaming (christmas at silver lake) aka the flso christmas fic. poor marisol :(
“It burns!” Marisol cries, tears squeezing from the corners of her eyes. “Is this it? Please tell me this is it—ah!”
pout
i couldn't find "pout" either! i need to expand my expressions vocabulary hahahaha
red
since i couldn't find pout or snuggle, I will give you 2 reds:
from the for love's sake only sequel, titled to love's self alone:
"I commissioned my father for a portrait of Old Red but I feel I need something more."
2. from one of the very first fics i ever started for this fandom and just never finished (but i really, genuinely want to). Learning To Fiddle: 4 Times The Molinas Referred To Reggie As Family
"Is this your son?" Reggie's face goes red, and he stumbles over his words a bit. "I. Um--"

Cuddle prompt 17 for reggie/anyone?
"Guys! You'll never believe what kind of cat I met at work—"
Reggie skids into the living room, ready to flop down into the lap of his nearest partner, but none of them are anywhere to be found. He frowns at the empty sofa.
Then a smiling face pops out of the kitchen. A very pretty face that shines with gorgeous, dark eyes, framed by matching long, dark hair. It's Alex's boyfriend.
"What kind of cat did you meet, dude?"
"Uh—"
It's like Willie teleported into the living room. He's super close all of a sudden, and Reggie swallows. His cheeks heat as Willie’s smile curls into a smirk.
He shouldn't still be this flustered around Willie, really. He's been a fixture in their lives for several months at this point, and he's a really cool guy. Everybody loves him. Reggie wouldn't be surprised if he officially moved in soon.
It's just impossible for Reggie to function around him when he has his full attention.
Luke loves to tease Reggie about it, but only where Reggie can hear, crooning things like someone's got a crush on Willie in his ear, and Alex knows, probably. He keeps sending him these looks, all soft and soothing. It's okay looks. Still, he keeps hoping these feelings will fade away, so Reggie hasn't really said anything to any of his partners about it.
He already has Luke, and Julie, and Alex, and Flynn, and his heart should be full. It is, in so many ways, and every single time, they've told him that he's not selfish and he shouldn't beat himself up. But every time, despite their reassurances, he can't help but worry that this one will be one too many, that he'll never stop falling in love with someone new and they'll all give up on him, or someone will feel neglected.
The soft whumph of the sofa pulls him back into the present. Willie's smile has softened back into something more inviting. It reaches into his eyes, warm and kind in a way that only makes him prettier. He pats the spot beside him.
"Come on, Red. I know you wanna talk about your day, and I wanna hear about it. Tell me all about this cat."
He flushes further at the nickname, shuffling around on the carpet. He rubs his neck.
"The others—"
Willie flaps his hand. "They'll be back. Flynn was doing her coupon thing and Luke spotted an ad for a sale at that record store he likes, so Alex had to run out the door after him, and Julie went with Flynn. One of them probably texted you."
Sure enough, he has to snort when he pulls out his phone. A blurry photo of Alex's forehead and Luke, arms full of records and random instrument accessories, manages to perfectly convey Alex's annoyance—even blurry, the furrow in his brow says so much—and Luke's zeal. He shows it to Willie, who cackles.
"Oh, man. A picture really says a thousand words, huh?"
It's easy to settle with Willie after that, just—sitting and talking and trading stories. He's delighted to learn about Missy—short for Missile Launcher—and her dramatics at the vet's office, and he tells Reggie about the raccoon he'd had as a pet, once, a clever little fiend named Throckmorton.
He's a good listener and a good storyteller, and he makes Reggie laugh, which fully loosens the set of his shoulders and the knot in his chest. At some point, his hands wander into Willie's hair—an absent-minded habit he's picked up with Julie—and Reggie nearly launches off of the sofa when he realizes what he's doing, but Willie just gently pulls him back down.
He's literally super warm, like Luke, and Reggie nearly gives into the impulse to flop over into his lap like he would with anyone else, but he waits.
Willie has a very comfortable lap, he learns. After many thorough conversations and sweet words from all of his partners, he finds himself splayed across all of their laps, with everyone comfortably squished together on the sofa, but he's still got his head pillowed in Willie's.
Someone—probably Alex, who's next to Willie—squeezes his hand, and the last thing he hears, apart from Luke's called it, is Willie's buoyant laughter, carrying him off to sleep as he cards his fingers though Reggie’s hair.

the misadventures of peony
aka the fic that shouldn't exist (tm) it's done! this cracky "little" "should have been hammered out in one night" fic is done! thank you to @narcissusbrokenmirror for the idea and granting me coparenting rights. i hope I did peony right by you! tagging @legolasghosty @innytoes and @jmrothwell with NO pressure whatsoever to read! Y'all were my ask box cheerleaders (thank you) so if you were waiting to see this, here ya go!
on ao3 (2584 words), Rated G. CW for pet snakes and all that entails!
“No, you guys. We don’t have enough room. We don’t have enough time. We can’t get a dog!” Luke looks between all four of his friends and roommates, each sporting their best puppy dog faces, and he sighs before waving them off and turning away, “And put those away. It’s not fair.”
“But Luke! We’ll take care of it! We promise!” Reggie pleads, clasping his hands in front of him to really sell his point.
“Dude, you forget that I TRIED THAT! For years. And literally never once actually followed through on it. We aren’t home enough.”
Alex decides it’s his turn to try, “But you were a kid! We’re all adults!”
He’s met with a chorus of “yeah”s from the group and Luke rolls his eyes.
“No.”
Everyone huffs in frustration as they resign themselves to his veto vote. They’d agreed that decisions like this needed to be unanimous but they don’t have to be happy about the results.
“But what if... what if it wasn't a dog?” Willie asked.
“What do you mean?”
"What about... a bunny?"
Luke rolls his eyes, "You know just because it lives in a cage doesn't mean it's less work than a dog, right? No.”
"So that's a no on a hamster too?" Reggie chimes in
“Yes Reg, that's a no on the hamster too.”
“Damn.”
“What about... a bird? They’re chill,” Willie tries again.
“We're not getting a fucking bird, Willie.”
“A lizard? Oh! One of those bearded dragons! Those are cool.”
Luke glares at them, “No dragons.”
Willie's face falls into a mock pout. "It doesn't even breathe fire!" they exclaim pitifully.
This time, Alex joins Luke in glaring at Willie. “Really?” he chastises them.
Willie offers an unabashed shrug in response.
"What's the lowest maintenance pet we can think of?" Reggie asks in an exaggerated whisper.
Julie huffs, "A goldfish."
“No water!” Luke cries.
“Why not?” Julie counters harshly, hands on her hips. They’re all a little bit frustrated with how stubborn Luke is being and it’s unfortunately starting to break through.
“We have way too many electronics for water to be a good idea. We do NOT need another Reggie fixing his amp in the rain situation.”
“Dude, it's contained in a TANK,” Willie explains.
“You are seriously no fun,” Reggie quips as he fiddles with his sleeves.
Willie's eyes widen as he comes up with a new idea.
Luke sighs before Willie even opens his mouth. "No."
WIllie's face falls into another pout. "You don't even know what I was going to say!"
“I don't need to. No.”
“You only need to feed snakes like once a week. And there's no water,” he pauses to consider his words before continuing. “Well, almost no water. And they're PRETTY!”
Luke’s face pinches in confusion, "What?!"
"A ssssssnake. We should get a snake."
"A snake? Seriously?"
"Yeah, people have them as pets all the time. And they're super chill and low maintenance. Look!" Willie pulls out their phone and starts typing. He stops and turns his phone around for Luke. “See?”
Julie crowds in behind Luke and coos over the picture on the top of the screen.
After giving Luke a moment to read, she plucks Willie's phone out of his hand. Julie walks around to Alex and Reggie showing it to them.
Reggie's jaw drops and a contemplative look crosses Alex's face.
"Willie has a point, you know," Alex says after a moment.
"How do you mean?"
"We could have a super cool, super fun pet. It's low maintenance enough that we could ask Carlos to feed it like once a week when we're away. We don't need to take it out for walks. Just... clean the tank every once in a while."
Luke groans, "Are you serious? Can we at least sleep on the idea of it before we start talking about it?"
Reggie grins, "So you're saying we can talk about it?"
Luke offers a resigned sigh, “Tomorrow.”
That earns Luke whooping cheers from everyone else. He can't help the small quirk of his lips at their excitement but quickly returns his face to its solemn expression before they can notice.
“Can we get back to rehearsal now?” he asks once the others have started to calm down.
“Sir! Yes, sir!” Reggie salutes. He’s met with an eye roll from Luke and laughter from the others but they quickly find their positions, picking back up where they’d left off before being derailed by the pet talk.
They’d agreed, some with more resistance than others, that this was for the best. Reggie and Julie didn’t need to know EVERYTHING and it was fine.
Except that when Willie got home with that week’s meal for Peony, he was surprised to find both Reggie and Julie hanging out with her.
Reggie notices Willie’s entrance and lights up. He eyes the package in Willie’s hands and nudges Julie. She turns and directs a smile Willie’s way.
“Whatchu got there?” she asks, pointing at the box.
“Uh, nothing?” They reply awkwardly as he tries to shield it from them.
“Uh huh, convincing,” Reggie says with a grin. He takes a few steps toward Willie, who moves backwards each time Reggie gets closer.
Julie looks between the guys and lets a mischievous grin take over her own face. “Is it something we can’t see?” she asks carefully.
“No?” Willie answers, cursing himself for apparently completely losing the ability to lie at some point in the last five minutes. He puts the box behind his back for good measure.
Julie joins Reggie’s mission to solve the mystery of the box. She swoops behind Willie to grab it from their hands.
Willie sighs in resignation as he watches her peel back the lid.
Julie squeals in excitement as she holds the box out to Reggie. “Look at it! It’s so cuuuute!”
Reggie joins her and lets out a squeal of his own.
They fawn over the mouse for a moment before turning to look up at Willie.
“How’d you convince Luke?” Julie asks.
“Uhhhhh, I didn’t?” he tries and Julie narrows her eyes at him but otherwise accepts their answer. Apparently she has better things to do than interrogate them. She returns her attention to the mouse.
Willie runs a hand down his face as he muffles a sigh. They know this is going to end poorly. He lets Reggie and Julie take their time cooing over the small animal while he tries to figure out how to get them back out of the house so he can feed Peony.
They send a quick text off to Alex and Luke who promptly respond with a plan. A few moments later, Reggie’s phone rings and he’s ushering Julie out of the house on whatever errand Luke had sent them on.
They somehow manage to make it a few more weeks without any questions from Reggie and Julie. The half-lie that Luke didn’t let the mice stay seemed to do most of the heavy lifting for them and casual deflection worked for the rest. Until it didn’t.
Julie and Reggie burst through the door with a very resistant Carlos in tow.
“I told you I don’t want to!” he exclaims as he struggles against them.
“Just come meet her!” Julie insists as she gives another tug of his wrist.
“She’s a sweetheart,” Reggie adds, “you’ll love her.”
“Just give her a chance!” Julie pleads. She turns her most powerful puppy dog eyes on Carlos. He rolls his eyes back at her. She sighs. Right, sibling immunity. She nudges Reggie who immediately takes the hint.
He widens his eyes with his most pathetic expression and it’s Carlos’ turn to sigh, “You can show her to me. But I’m staying back here.”
“Yes!” Julie cheers. She turns toward the room, confused by the sight she’s met with. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Willie says from their position in front of Peony’s enclosure. They’re flanked on either side by Alex and Luke, blocking the others from being able to see their pet snake.
Reggie gasps as panic overtakes him, “Is she… Is she okay?!”
“She’s fine,” Alex sighs.
“You weren’t supposed to be home yet,” Luke adds, directing a quick look over his shoulder.
“What’s… why are you blocking her?” Reggie asks. He walks toward them and the trio tighten up their formation.
Julie makes her way around Reggie and stands in front of the others. “Move, please,” she says, less of a question than it probably could be.
“No, I don’t think I will,” Alex replies casually, crossing his arms over his chest for good measure.
“I assure you, you do not want to see what’s behind us,” Willie adds, silently pleading with his eyes for her to drop it.
Luke directs his own puppy dog look her way and she rolls her eyes. “That doesn’t work on me, remember?”
Julie’s about to just push through them when Carlos speaks up from his spot by the door, “They don’t know how you feed it yet, do they?”
Everyone’s eyes widen at once and Carlos would laugh at the sight if he wasn’t halfway terrified. Julie and Reggie both round on him. Then look back at the guys. And then back at Carlos.
“Show me,” Julie insists, pushing between Luke and Willie. Her hand immediately covers her mouth in horror. Reggie’s at her side in an instant and his own jaw drops.
“You… I…” Reggie stammers. His eyes turn glassy.
Reggie turns to Julie and the tears in his eyes seemingly grant hers permission to fall.
“Oh, that poor little guy,” she cries feebly.
Alex, Luke, and Willie exchange concerned looks. Alex wraps Julie up into his arms while Luke does the same for Reggie. They hold the pair as they let out their cries of distress.
“I told you this would happen,” Willie huffs at them, though any annoyance in their voice is belied by the fond look on their face. They can’t really fault Alex and Luke for wanting to delay this moment for as long as possible.
Carlos coughs out a bitter laugh, “Why do you think I didn’t want to do this?”
Julie’s lip wobbles as she turns to him. She doesn’t leave Alex’s arms but he loosens them slightly so that she can move. “I… I just thought maybe you were just weirded out by snakes.”
Carlos rolls his eyes. “I told you I was never coming here again after you got it-”
“Her!” Reggie corrects forcefully through his own residual tears. He pushes himself away from Luke, wiping at his face.
Julie offers him her hand and he grabs it immediately.
Carlos corrects himself with another eyeroll, “Her. You thought I’d refuse to be here if I was just ‘weirded out’ by snakes?” Carlos accentuates the words with finger quotes.
“She’s harmless!” Julie cries.
“Well, mostly,” Reggie murmurs woefully. “If you’re not small and adorable.”
“I’m small and adorable!” Julie pouts.
Reggie squeezes her hand in silent comfort. “And squeaky,” he adds. “You’re not squeaky.”
Julie grins at that. “Not most of the time, anyway.”
“Anyway,” Carlos interjects from his position by the door. “I came, I saw, I’m leaving. You can find someone else to help with your weird pet. It won’t be me.”
The five of them watch him leave in stunned silence before Willie realizes that he’d probably not driven himself there. They run after him, stopping to grab the keys and slip on their shoes on the way.
Willie just manages to get his second shoe on when Carlos pops his head back in the door.
“Yes, I’ll drive you home,” Willie tells him preemptively.
“Thanks.” Carlos waves back at the others, “Bye! Good luck with…” he gestures toward Julie and Reggie, “that.”
He disappears out the door again and Willie follows him. “Try not to inflict any more trauma on them!” they call out as they shut the door.
“Is it… is she… done?” Julie asks with a small voice.
Luke hazards a look into Peony’s enclosure. “Well, as done as she can be for now,” he tells her.
“Do they have to be,” Reggie shudders and Luke wraps an arm around his shoulders, “alive?”
“We tried,” Alex explains slowly, “but unfortunately she’s a bit picky. We didn’t want you to have to see it.”
“So when Willie had that…” Julie trails off.
Luke turns to her with a sad look in his eyes, “Yeah, Peony snack.”
Julie takes a deep breath and leans her head back, holding back a fresh set of tears. She crawls into Alex’s sweater as best she can. He groans but doesn’t otherwise fight her. He even tries to give her some extra space. It’s an emergency situation and if anyone’s going to be granted the right to stretch it out, it’s Julie. He almost goes as far as offering to take it off for her but stops when she glares at him.
After another deep breath, Julie speaks up again, “Okay, Peony snack. I guess now we know.”
“And you can tell us when it’s time to feed her and we’ll just make sure we’re somewhere else,” Reggie adds. He shudders, “Anywhere else.”
“But now we have to figure out what to do if we can’t rely on Carlos,” Luke says. “She won’t last our full tour without food.”
“I’m sure there’s somebody who can help. And if not, I guess we’ll just have to hire someone,” Alex responds with a sigh. They don’t yet make enough money to spend on too much frivolity and none of them will be very excited to lose what little they do have to a pet sitter. Even if it’s only once a week.
“We have time,” Julie assures them. They still have a few months until their next tour kicks off.
“Guess Luke had a point,” Reggie pouts. He quickly raises a finger and sticks it in Luke’s face. “Not a word!”
Luke mimes zipping his mouth closed but can’t mask the beaming look on his face. It intensifies with Julie’s giggle.
“Who knew Carlos was scared of snakes?” she wonders aloud. Julie grins as she shakes her head in amusement, “You think you know a person.”
Luke sighs as he takes in their wall of tanks and enclosures, each housing a different pet that he’d somehow been talked into. “You say no to one dog,” he mutters under his breath. “How did this even happen?” he wonders aloud, slightly louder than before and Julie manages to hear him and laughs as she walks over to stand beside him.
“Peony loves her friends. And now she’s not lonely when we’re gone,” she tells him with a grin.
“She’s a freaking snake,” Luke mumbles. “How lonely can she get?”
Julie chuckles and pats him on the shoulder before handing him his guitar, “Well, think of it this way: now you have a built-in audience for rehearsals.”
Luke groans as he slips the guitar strap over his head, “Fine.”
“Could have just said yes to the dog!” Alex chimes in from his spot behind his drumkit and Luke glares at him. “But I do love Crush and Squirt, so thanks for that,” he grins at Luke and is met with another harsh glare.
“No more!” Luke insists as he settles in behind his microphone and nods his head toward Julie and Reggie to get themselves situated which they quickly do.
“Yes, Dad!” Reggie giggles as he nods toward Alex who counts them in.

“Love,” Tom whined, “it’s storming too hard to go home, why don’t you spend the night?” .
Y/n blushed, tightening her arms around her boyfriend as they stood at his door.
“Tommm” she sighed, knowing she couldn’t as he had work in the morning.
“Baby, I’m serious. Stay with me… please?" He asked leaning back to look into her eyes.
She bit her lip, desperately wanting to cave but she knew how important the meeting he had tomorrow was.
Tom sensed her hesitation and kissed her forehead, “If you’re not ready us to share a bed, I can sleep on the couch tonight; just please don’t go out in this weather”.
She grinned at him, not bothering to point out he might be overreacting a bit with regards to the severity of the weather.
“T, handsome, I trust you. But don’t you have to meet with some Sony execs early tomorrow?” She asked, gazing into his chestnut colored eyes.
Tom hummed, pulling her closer to him again, “You’re all I care about right now.”
Y/n giggled softly, “I refuse to be the reason there’s no more Spider-Man”.
Tom laughed, “you won’t. I promise to tell them I’ll swing by later than planned”.
“Swing?” Y/n shook her head, smirking, “that was such an intentional pun”.
Tom bit his bottom lip and shrugged his shoulders, “maybe”.
“You’re lucky you’re cute” she teased, kissing his cheek.
“Does that mean you’ll stay?” He asked, his cheeks a faint red.
She nodded, making him smile widely before picking her up and running back to the living room.
Tom had turned on the fireplace before going to the kitchen to find something for them to eat.
After he started warming a pot of water on the stove, he stepped out to see if y/n had settled back in.
He found himself smiling from ear to ear as he leaned against the doorframe, watching as she silently read a book in front of the fireplace.
She’d dug out a pair of slippers that were far too big for her feet but looked adorable as she sat there with one of his hoodies on, and a blanket over her lap.
“Tommy, you're staring!" Y/n gushed, looking up from her book as she sensed his presence.
Tom blushed a dark crimson and smiled, walking to her.
“I could watch you be you all day. I like seeing you happy, love” he said, kneeling down to give her a side hug and a kiss to the top of her head.
Once they finished dinner, Tom lead her to the sectional, letting her sit against him.
He had his arms around her as she pressed play on the movie they’d chosen for the night.
They were nearly halfway through the movie when y/n kept squirming.
“What ‘re you doin’ love?” Tom whispered into her ear, tightening his grip on her waist.
“I don’t want your leg to fall asleep” She laughed, knowing she’d been leaning against his left leg more than the other.
Tom shook his head, “you’re fine love, just watch the movie”.
She complied, but it didn’t last more than a few minutes.
“Y/n, stop moving!” He sighed, tapping her hips with his fingers.
“Why? Your-“ She began, tilting her head to look up and behind at him.
“‘Cause it’s cold and you feel amazing in my arms" Tom admitted, pulling her closer to his chest.
“Because I’m warm?” She asked, lifting her arms to show the baggy sleeves of his hoodie.
“ Sure” Tom murmured, too focused on the current moment to try and explain.
He loved having her in his flat, in his arms, knowing she was his and he was her’s.
Neither one seemed to notice when the movie ended, too wrapped up in each other.
They were cuddled on the couch, facing each other, legs and arms a tangled mess.
Tom nuzzled his nose against y/n’s nose, making her giggle tenderly.
“Bloody hell love, your hands are freezing!” Tom gasped dramatically as y/n grabbed his hand.
She frowned and pulled her hand back, not having noticed.
He shook his head, “no, let me see”.
He gently grabbed her hands in his, holding it and his warmth transfer to her’s.
—-
“Hey T…?” Y/n asked suddenly, looking up from her book as she sat on the bench next to his large window.
Tom looked up from his phone, having just sent his full email to the Sony team, “hmm?”
“So… I know it defeats the purpose of me staying and all... But can we go outside?” She questioned, staring out the rain covered window.
“You want to go into the pouring rain?” He chuckled kindly, grinning over at her.
“Kinda… yeah. Can we go dance in the rain Tommy?” She elaborated, facing him as she hid her face behind his hoodie sleeve.
Tom couldn’t form a response, his mind only thinking about how precious this moment was, how precious she was.
She laughs, “I know it’s cheesy but I’ve always wanted to d-“.
“Yes” Tom cuts her off, his voice making it sound like it was the only valid response; which to him, it was.
As her eyes light up with excitement, Tom grins widely.
He swiftly makes his way to her, helping her stand and leading her to where her real shoes were.
Tom watches as she giggled loudly, turning around just as they stepped outside.
He smiles at her, making her grab his hand and run onto the empty street.
Y/n closes her eyes as Tom spins her around, never letting go of her hand.
Suddenly, y/n raced down the street, Tom hurriedly following as to not have to drop her hand as he ran with her.
He’d only done so because he selfishly wanted her near him.
But it turned it to be a good thing as after one of her adorably childish bursts of energy, she nearly slipped.
Tom’s grip on her hand kept her fairly steady and on her feet.
She gasped, letting herself crash into his chest to stabilize her balance.
“It's okay, you're okay, I've got you" Tom promised, raising her arm to encourage her to keep spinning.
As the couple dried off before the bathroom mirror, y/n laughed loudly.
“Oh god I look like a drowned rat” She blushed, squeezing water from her hair futilely, “but that was so fun, thank you!”
“Love, I’d do anything for you,” Tom winked, taking the towel from her hand, “and for the record, I think you’re still just as beautiful right now”.
Y/n grinned and looked down at the ground shyly.
“Love, why don’t you take a warm shower while I make us some tea?” Tom offered, noting the goosebumps on her arms.
“What about you?” She asked, furrowing her eyes at him in concern he’d forgotten to ensure his own comfort.
“My hair dries much faster my love” Tom joked, “I’m of course going to change, but then I can start the tea”.
She smiled and agreed, only half listening to his instructions for the shower as she blissfully relaxed and spaced out.
When she finished showering and blow drying her hair, she finally looked towards the counter corner by the door and saw Tom had set out one of his knitted fall sweaters, a pair of his softest boxers, a pair of sweatpants, and some soft socks for her.
Y/n smiled until it hurt, she really had the sweetest boyfriend in the world.
As she entered the living room, now dressed in his cozy clothes he’d lent her, she took in what he’d done.
Evidently while she showed, he not only took it upon himself to make the tea he mentioned; which was sitting in her favorite mug of his on the coffee table.
He’d also brought several cozy and pouffy blankets over to the sectional along with larger pillows than the accent ones previously there.
He’d also started the fireplace again, the flat now nice and toasty.
“‘Ey love, how was the shower, did the faucet-“ Tom began to ask, hearing her soft footsteps on his hardwood floor.
But he paused as he took notice of her appearance and blushed, rubbing his neck, “You look so gorgeous”.
“T, stop “ She murmured, walking to him and pulling him in for a hug, “thank you. For the clothes and all of today”.
Tom hummed as he kissed the top of her head, “thank you for staying. You should do it more”.
“Shall we head to bed, love?" Tom asked, breaking the comfortable silence around them as they held each other in front off the fireplace.
Y/n pouted, a small yawn breaking through as she spoke, “but we’d have to actually get up then”.
Tom winked, “I’ll carry you princess”.
Y/n blushed deeply, burying her face into his chest.
“But, I’m comfy” She whispered, barely audible with her face pressed against his upper body.
“You want to sleep out here?” He asked, playing with her hand.
“Yes, if you’ll stay with me” she requested.
“Well duh, I’m not leaving you out here alone” He teased, “let me just turn the fireplace off”.
Tom traced y/n’s features as she began to drift off to sleep.
She let her eyes close as she rested her head on him, cuddled up under multiple blankets.
“Sweet dreams love” he whispered into her hair, his own eyes getting heavy.
“Maybe I will stay more often” She sighed before letting herself sleep.
Tom grinned, the smile staying on his face as he too fell asleep.

Chaos prompts: 3 + Reggie/Ray
Chaos prompt 3: "We do not need that many tiny pumpkins."
This is set in Innytoes’s ABO au. The gist of the world building is that omegas aren’t legally people, and they have to be registered to an alpha. Reggie is an omega who is registered to Ray and Caleb (both alphas), who are married. The concept is dystopian, but fluffiness abounds.
Once Ray and Caleb realized that all Reggie did with his new credit card was buy groceries, they agreed to give him access to their Amazon account. At the very least, they wanted him to be able to watch things on Amazon and, Caleb hoped, he’d become bolder about buying things he wanted for himself. (Caleb’s ulterior motive was to spy on Reggie’s purchase history so that he could get a better idea of what sorts of things Reggie might like as gifts.)
This ended up backfiring when Reggie realized he could buy Halloween decorations on Amazon.
Ray logged into his account, noticed the number of new items in the cart, and started rubbing his temples as he tried to sort through the dozens of Halloween-themed decorations Reggie had added (he hadn’t bought any of it yet, but clearly the man loved Halloween).
“Reggie,” Ray called as the omega passed through the dining room where Ray was on his laptop, “remind me to show you the box of Halloween decorations we have in the loft in the garage.”
Reggie froze, facing paling (more than usual). “You’re on your Amazon, aren’t you?”
“You’re not in trouble,” Ray assured him quickly, and Reggie relaxed a fraction. “It’s just that we already have enough decorations to put up around the house. I don’t know where we’d put,” he paused, scanning the screen and picking an object at random, “30 tiny plastic pumpkins?”
Reggie cleared his throat. “It’s actually 60. I put it in the cart twice.”
Ray gave him an incredulous look. “We do not need that many tiny pumpkins.”
“I know,” Reggie said, somewhat dejectedly. “It’s just, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I’ve never lived with anyone who wanted to decorate for Halloween, so I might have gone a little overboard imagining all the different ways we could decorate the house.” He gave a half shrug. “It’s stupid. Halloween’s not even for a couple of months, anyway.”
Ray walked over to Reggie and wrapped him in a hug. Reggie wrapped his arms around Ray in return. “Reggie, it’s not stupid. It sounds like it’s something you’ve wanted for a long time, and no one’s ever given it to you. But in this house, we do decorate for Halloween, and you’re welcome to help us make the house look extra spooky, if you want to.”
Reggie nodded against Ray’s shoulder. “I would love that.”
Ray smiled. “And who knows? Maybe it’s time to update some of our decorations. Do you want to go through the Halloween bin with me and see what we might get rid of to make room for some new stuff?”
Reggie pulled back, eyes wide. “For real?”
“Of course! We can even do it right now, if you want.”
The grin on Reggie’s face lit up the whole room. “Race you to the garage!” And with that he took off. Ray, knowing it was a race he would lose, was just happy to see Reggie excited.
When Caleb came home, he found them knee-deep in the Halloween decorations that were spread all over the garage floor. Confused as he was, Ray walked over to him, gave him a peck and whispered, “It’s for Reggie.”
Later, Ray showed him what he had found in the Amazon cart, and Caleb was delighted to realize that he now had new gift ideas for Reggie.

Morning Revelations
From @innytoes prompt list
Julie threw open the studio doors and froze.
Luke was sprawled across the mattress of the pull out sofa apparently sound asleep and completely naked. The blankets were still wrapped around his lower legs but everything above that was pale and smooth. He was hugging one of the pillows and his slightly overgrown mop of hair was covering his face.
She’d expected him to be here. They were supposed to meet to write today but she hadn’t expected him to still be sleeping… and naked.
A towel appeared in front of her face and she jumped.
“Got a little something on your chin Jules.”
She turned to scowl at Reggie who was snickering at her.
“Shut up,” she grabbed the towel from him and then threw it back in his face making him giggle and jump away. “What is he doing sleeping in there?” she hissed.
Reggie shrugged. “He told me he didn’t want to piss you off for being late.”
She growled. “Why is he naked?!”
Reggie rolled his eyes. “Because he’s a walking furnace and always sleeps naked unless we’re sharing a bed.”
“Oh.” Julie frowned. “Where did you and Alex sleep?”
Reggie pointed back to the house. “I slept in the guest room and Alex stayed at Willie’s place. He’ll be here shortly.”
Julie bit her lip as her eyes were drawn back to the sleeping form of her crush.
Nope, nope she did not have a crush on Luke. They were friends and writing partners and band mates and that was all.
“What time did you all get in last night anyway?” The guys had gone out with a band they’d all met last week at their gig. Julie totally wasn’t bitter that she wasn’t twenty one yet and couldn’t go out with them last night or any night they went to a bar or a club unless it was eighteen and up which was rare.
“Luke and I got back around two.”
She’d stayed home, not that she’d had much of a choice and worked on some of her school work for her psychology class so she’d have today free to write and practice with the guys… with Luke.
Julie couldn’t stop staring at him.
The sun was streaming in the bay window making all that pale smooth skin practically glow.
“I kinda wanna touch it.”
“What?”
Julie whipped her head back at Reggie, “Did I say that out loud?” she hissed.
Reggie shook with suppressed laughter. “Yeah, but...seriously” He took a calming breath. “What if he woke up and saw you?” He raised his eyebrows at her. “Are you ready to tell him you like him?”
She wanted to argue, or deny it but he knew, Alex knew, hell everyone knew except for Luke. She thought she’d been painfully obvious for years. Either Luke was really that oblivious or more likely he wasn’t interested in her like that and was just trying to spare her feelings.
She sighed, “No.”
He rolled his eyes, “You two really need to get your crap together.”
“I…” she started to say when there was movement on the bed and Luke started to shift. Julie squeaked and skittered away from the open door. She was not ready to see more than she already had. She’d already seen more than she should have.
Reggie pushed the open door partway closed and turned to frown at her crossing his arms.
“What?”
“Why won’t you just tell him and put all of us out of our misery?”
She rolled her eyes, “Because he obviously doesn’t think of me like that.”
Reggie scoffed. “You’re as blind as he is.”
“You know he,” she pointed toward the sleeping man on the other side of the door. “…could say something to me!” she pointed at herself.
Reggie sighed. “You’re both impossible.”
“I just think you’re wrong Reg.” Julie crossed her arms and huffed. “I know Crystal was with you all last night and she’s been painfully obvious with how much she likes Luke.” Crystal was the bass player for the band the guys went out with last night and she’d been less than subtle with all her arm touching and inane giggling at everything Luke said when they’d all met last week.
“Julie,” Reggie rolled his eyes. “He doesn’t like her. He doesn’t like any of them. He’s in love with you!”
She shook her head and turned away from Reggie’s earnest face. She just couldn’t hear it any more, it hurt too much. Luke was considerate enough not to parade all the girls who flirted with him in front of her but she was sure he must be getting together with them when he and the guys were out partying without her.
Julie could feel the tears trying to well up in her eyes as she tried to swallow the lump in her throat. It was fine, he deserved to have fun.
She just didn’t understand how Reggie could stand there and say Luke was in love with her when he’d never said anything. They’d been friends for years now. She’d thought when she was younger it was because he was a couple years older than her but she was nineteen now and far from a kid.
Reggie had to be wrong.
A warm hand tugged on her shoulder, turning her back around.
“Reggie…”
It was Luke.
“What are you…?”
He was looking at her so intently she barely registered his hands on her shoulders. “I promise I don’t like Crystal.”
“You don’t?” she breathed out laying her hand on his chest to steady herself. Thank goodness he’d put some clothes on.
He shook his head and leaned a little closer. “How could I possibly want to be with anyone when you’re all I think about.”
“Yeah?”
He nodded. “I’m not wrong here am I?” he said as he leaned his forehead against hers. “You want…”
She licked her lips and tilted her head up in invitation. “Yes.”
He smiled before closing the distance between them and pressing their lips together in a soft kiss.
It only lasted for a moment, both of them unable to stop smiling, before there was clapping and hollering behind them.
They broke apart, laughing, to see not only Reggie but Alex and Willie high fiving each other.
“It’s about time you two!” Alex laughed.
“Ok, ok, shows over.” Luke grinned as he slid his arm around her waist. “Jules and I have songs to write.”
“Right,” Alex rolled his eyes and glanced at Willie and Reggie. “We’ll go see if Ray needs any help with anything for a couple hours so you two can go write.” Alex said making exaggerated quotation marks.
She couldn’t stop grinning at him as they walked with their arms around each other toward the studio.
“Just think how much misery we could have spared everyone if we’d just shown Julie Luke’s naked ass ages ago.” Reggie said gleefully as he, Alex and Willie trooped up the stairs.
Julie squeaked and pulled away from Luke completely mortified.
She sprinted the last few feet into the studio as Luke burst out laughing at Reggie’s words.
Check out @1mnobodywhoareyou version of this prompt here. We stan a flustered Luke.

First Line Game
Rules: List the first lines of your last 10 published fics and see if there’s a pattern.
tagged by the lovely @bbreaddog
1. xoxo (Willex, T)
Leaving his house that afternoon to meet up with his boyfriend, Willie did not yet know that something magical was going to happen.
2. Emergency Summons (Willex, T)
“So what will it cost me?”
3. Sock Surprise (Willex, G)
<<Is this your idea of a joke?
4. I Will Do Bad Things to You (Willex, E)
Willie was undeniably pacing.
5. How to Ruin a Royal Wedding in One Easy Misstep (Willex, T)
This, Willie thought, lying on the floor of an English palace covered in cake, could have gone better.
6. I Love the Weeds of You, Baby  (the random Red, White & Royal Blue ficlet I wrote, T)
Alex’s favourite place was wherever Henry was but his favourite place to be with Henry was undoubtedly a bed.
7. Cat Conscripted Neighbourhood Nurse (Willex, T)
Toast announced his presence in Willie’s apartment with a loud, screechy kind of “Mreeep” and jumping onto the couch where Willie was currently, and unsuccessfully, trying to beat the final boss in a video game he had obviously neglected for far too long, all his reflexes lagging and his muscle memory gone.
8. Operation Cat Wash (Willex, T)
He should have known that it was a bad idea from the start but sometimes, the craving for proper pancakes outweighed all other considerations.
Ignoring Our Happiness is Made out of Fragments at this point because it's a collection of (prompt) ficlets.
9. The Birthday Gift (Caleb/Alex/Willie, E)
This had been a bad idea.
10. Close Enough (Emily POV of a scene in the Alex Adoption Fic, T)
Having a child in the hospital is surely one of the worst experiences a mother can have.
_
Pattern: mostly short statement sentences. I've also written a surprising amount of Willie POV lately. It doesn't feel like it because I've been writing so much for the Alex Adoption Fic, which is 95% Alex's POV XD

Wrapped Around Your Heart
Summary: Willie likes to think that they’re a pretty damn good boyfriend. For example, when their girlfriend told them that he was actually their boyfriend, Willie didn’t bat an eye. He simply told Luke he loved him and gave him his first haircut. When Luke’s parents gave him shit about transitioning, Willie sent his uncle to put the fear of Caleb Covington God in them. And when Luke spent hours meticulously measuring himself and researching which binders are the best, only to realize that even the cheapest options were out of his price range, Willie decided to take matters into his own hands.
Read on Ao3!
A placeholder gift for @innytoes while I finish their actual fic for @jatpfebfanfest
