As someone who got COVID March last year, still experiences heart palpitations, and is often fatigued now - should I try the creatine thing you're doing? If it doesn't work, I could just stop, right?
Are there side effects I should watch out for?
There is one specific symptom it is useful for: difficulties in processing blood sugar into ATP energy, where it helps by replacing with energy derived from breaking down stored fat. Over my (9 now, I think) cases I've encountered other fatigue symptoms, including one that was really an iron deficiency and one I suspect was "post-exertional malaise", the creatine did nothing for them.
Creatine is pretty safe though, your body makes some naturally all the time, if you took a bucketload on the reg it might gratuitously let you burn too much fat doing exercise and then starve in a famine.
I would say it's worth trying once – take say 4 scoops, it'll take effect within 20 minutes, if that clears it up yay, take it every day and it'll burn fat to keep you on until the symptom clears, if it makes you feel a bit better but not totally try some more until you find your level, if that's not it sorry but maybe suggest it to other people with fatigue.

I hate feeling like I have no energy to exercise so I asked my friends about pre-workout supplements/drinks. I don't know much about those. These were their recommendations:
Black coffee. Only supplement with good data is creatine (clean with no other additives) and hmb (for muscle recovery, and avoidance of muscle mass).
https://www.rivalnutrition.com/powder-burn/ A clean pre-workout, safe for Olympic athletes aka no banned substances or proprietary blends.
Gorilla mode is my go to pre. Tastes good. Mixes well. Works.
Ghost also makes a pretty good pre. Tastes good, mixes well, works but you pay a bit more as it also has some proprietary blend and name brand mixes (ie warheads/sour)
C4 Tastes good, works but mixes just okay. Was always getting a bit of chunks and occasionally chalky flavoring.
Hyde works, doesn't taste great, but mixes well.
Total war tastes bad (every flavor is gunk), doesn't mix well, and doesn't work.
Optimum nutrition is fine. Solid, not too expensive, drinkable, mixes but only kind of works.
Jack3D the original blend that they stopped selling will always be GOAT.
Basically you want caffeine (140-200mg) to jump start you, citralline to get blood flowing, and anything else is icing on the cake.
Personally get my aminos/bcaa and creatine from other powders but some people swear by having those in their pre too.
I don't know much about all that stuff, but when I see people going hard in the gym, it makes me want to go hard!

What is your main motivation?
Kind of a broad-ended question, anon- but I'll do my best to answer it for ya.
So, m'not really the academic type- that's more @rifleseye's thing than mine, but I'll see if I can't bullet-point it for ya.
So, main motivation(s) is/are gonna be:
Survival— Y'might think it's a throwaway, but survival ain't just about having somethin' to drink, eat, and a place to recharge. It's about figuring out how to get supplies, the logistics of friendships, relationships, and other situations you might have to manipulate to help you blend in or mimic a particular type of people, atmosphere, or culture. People hear 'survival' and think about the immediate physical needs, but a lot more goes into it.
Emotional Well-being— Sounds like a cop-out, but lemme tell ya that if you ain't got your processor where you need it to be- you're not gonna thrive. Emotional well-being can be as easy as doin' a nice task now and then for someone ya care about- or cultivatin' a whole-aft relationship with people ya never thought you'd have stuff in common with.
Safety— Spent the whole war lookin' over my shoulder and in the ceilings and floors for threats and predators. That sorta of paranoia doesn't go away easily, and it comes laden with a whole lotta PTSD. Creatin' yer own safe spaces are essential as frag. It's the only place or places or people- where ya can allow yourself to just melt down and feel. Or just to go and regroup yourself in relative silence. I'm a pretty social mechanism- so more often than not, my safe space is certain people. (You know who you are.)
So there ya are, my top 3 motivations.
Rarely, there's a fourth; sometimes, that one is just Vengence. I try not to use that one often. Tends t'get me in trouble.

Koga: Nah, the situation hasn't really changed much… They quieted down for a bit, but after ya went abroad, they started actin' up again. Now they're buzzin' around all over the damned place. It's so freakin' annoyin'. But don't worry. Hasumi-senpai's supposedly revitalizin' the student council right now, workin' on improvin' the environment and creatin' rules to prevent students from goin' astray n' becomin' delinquents. Or, well, that's what he said, but t' be honest, I don't really understand that kinda complex stuff, n' if you ask me it doesn't reaaaally seem to be havin' any effect.
Rei: That sounds about right. Just declarin' yourself the student council doesn't mean anythin' if ya don't have any authority. It's like a little birdie chirpin' away in the background. People 're just gonna ignore it.
Koga: Basically, it doesn't matter how powerful yer magic cards are if the field prevents ya from activatin' its effects, huh.
Rei: Uh, what're ya goin' on about?

The word used here is 役不足. This word tends to be enormously misused by the general public. Much like the English phrase "could care less" is often used to mean the opposite of what the phrase implies, 役不足 means to be massively overqualified for your job, but is colloquially used to mean you're not up to the task. There really wasn't a clean way to translate this, as Koga uses it to mean the latter, while Rei means the former.

♡ tips to build muscle ♡

these are my favorite tips that have helped me gain muscle mass in the gym over the past few years. disclaimer: this is what has worked for me, but may not work for you! listen to your body!:)
• eat enough protein i aim to eat around 115g of protein per day. protein comes from meat, fish, eggs, peanut butter, soy, etc. it can be found in plants (if ur veggie!) you can also use products like protein powders & bars to help with these goals.
• eat enough calories the amount of calories your body needs is completely different to another person. however, under-eating will not make your muscles grow! it is very ineffective if you are trying to put on mass to be strictly dieting, so make sure you’re fueling your body with nutrients!
• compound movements start your workouts with compound lifts. examples are squats, deadlifts, bench, etc. these movements engage multiple muscle groups & are optimal for muscle gain.
• progressive overload the best way i saw progress in growing muscle was following a plan & doing the same exercises for each muscle group, while slowly adding weight. this will increase your strength! be consistent!
• creatine creatine is a naturally found in your body already, and is a safe supplement that aids in your performance & energy levels. i take 3g per day, even on rest days. mine is from myprotein, but i also love pescience brand. just mix it into water or another drink you like!

Supplements and diet
I have decided after suffering many years to spend my hard earned money on supplements for PCOS. (I have been turned away from every doctor ever).
Most supplements do not work to their full effect for 3 months. I have taken them for 1 month and have seen improvements.
1. Agnus castus.
Researchers think this works by upping progesterone. I have to say this months period has been much lighter and much less painful. I have also been more in control of my emotions the week before.
2. St Johns wort.
I am not taking any medications, breastfeeding, or on hormonal birth control, so this is safe for me. So far, it is not a huge reduction in anxiety, but definitely fewer negative, intrusive thoughts. I was taking a low dose. I have doubled this.
3. Evening primrose oil
Again, my dose was a bit low, so I have doubled it. Because I am taking several supplements, it is hard to tell which one is working. But I am keen to stick with this for general gynaecological health.
4. Creatine
This is for more effective workouts, but studies have shown it can have positive effects in the brain. So why not, eh?
I have reluctantly gone back to a keto diet. It is very tough but is the only thing that curbs my appetite and reduces my water retention massively. After years of cycling keto, I am getting pretty confident with it.
Anyone struggling and wants to chat, please reach out. I am not medically trained. Unfortunately, I have to help myself as the NHS is struggling, and no one researches women's issues either.

Wait so what’s up with creatine. Is it useful?
creatine is a thing that is found in all vertebrates and is part of the body's systems for mobilising energy in the cells. it's also used to recycle ATP in the body and does like a lot of other stuff that i really can't explain because the science makes my head hurt. creatine hydrochloride is the isolated version of the stuff and the idea is that by giving you more creatine you can recover faster from exercise and get stronger, as well as potential neurological benefits.
and it works! it literally does work like that and even athletes who don't use any other supplements will still use creatine. the performance benefits aren't huge but they are there. it's probably the single most scrutinised supplement available and despite panicky rumours about it making you go bald or making your kidneys explode it seems to be completely safe for long-term supplementation.
the complicated thing that no one likes to admit is that there's studies which suggest that caffeine nullifies the effect of creatine supplementation, which means that bang creatine energy drink may as well be a red bull in terms of performance enhancement.
here's my personal relationship with creatine: i bought a canister. it is a pain in the ass to take because it needs to be dissolved in warm water or else it gives you stomach cramps, and because of the caffeine thing i can't mix it into my coffee, so i need to set aside time to mix up a hot creatine drink at night, every night. it's also expensive. i didn't notice any benefits one way or another, so i haven't bought another canister since then.
