Welp it’s not Halloween anymore (and actually these pictures are from last year hkkhljhl) but who give a shit y'all wanna see my goofy lil Sam costume :D if you were here for my Halloween stream then you already saw this but if not then LOOKIT MY SUIT BOY

Fun fact, I made all this last year and meant to post it then but I was just too lazy whoops. So I'm tryin to do better this time around, lmaoooo. Anyway yeah! Samb costume!! If you wanna hear how I made some of the elements for this and gathered up the rest, feel free to check out my ramblings under the cut :Dc

This was such a fun project. A lot of elements were of course just staples of businesswear, like I found the suit jacket at H&M and the pants at Target (and hemmed them because I love men's pants but they don't love my short-ass legs), but some parts were a bit more complicated. The hat, for example, I also found at Target, but it had the wrong kind of band, so I just took that off and hand sewed on a length of wide black ribbon in its place. I ain't no milliner or haberdasher or what have you but I feel like it came out pretty ok! And the ears were an element that I figured would be a fun addition lol, they are made of fleece I believe? I forget. I gave them a bit of soft stuffing so they're basically two soft pillows, and then safety-pinned them into the inner brim of the hat--that way I can look like a normal person if I ever decide to wear the hat in public lmao.

The tie was an absolute delight to work on. And also torture. Y'know, kind of a 'why not both' moment. I ended up reverse engineering a tie I already had and cannibalizing its inner fabric to make the new one, since I knew I wasn't going to wear the original. The new tie is made with a silky blue fabric that isn't silk that I don't remember what it is because I have a sponge for a brain. Sorry ^^; But basically I replaced the original outer part of the tie with my new fabric and sewed her up by hand (it's not really a machine job as far as I can tell), then painted on the stripes with watered down black fabric paint. I had hoped that watering it down would prevent it from making the fabric stiff, but that didn't end up working because it required so many layers to be opaque, oof. There's probably better ways to go about it, so if you're making your own Sam tie it's worth it to do some more research! Plus, they do sell regular blue ties out there that you could paint. I'm just insane. And tbh I wish I had just bought one but at least I can say I've made a tie now lmaoooo

And I suppose the last element of this is the paper bag Max puppet! I love him so dearly, he was a delight to make ^^ I'd tell you how to make him but why do that when obviously I learned from the original? Make sure to put one in your car ok it's really important

God I love this comic. And I also dearly dearly love how faithfully they adapted it in the cartoon <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

Anyway that's it that's all I got!! Also because I've never worn this thing out of the house it doesn't have shoes to go with, I just got some brown socks. I figure it fits with Sam as a shoe-hating person lmaooo. ok that's all bye thanks for looking hope y'all had a happy Halloween!!!!

ANNUAL WRITING SELF EVALUATION 2023

List of works published this year:

Wanted: Dog Walker // Louis needs a dog walker. / Harry answers the ad. A Social Construct // Five times Harry and Louis try to lose their virginity and one time they finally do.

Tongue Tied // Louis’ new bestie placed a hand on his shoulder; he turned with a sway and looked into his blue eyes. ”What do you wish?” / The world spun for a moment, and Louis shrugged. It was easy. The only thing he wanted. “I wish that I could tell Harry that I love him, instead of getting all tongue tied and chickening out.” / The Irishman winked. “You never know, your wish may just come true.” / “From your lips to God’s ears, mate.” He gave the man a hug. “I gotta go before my Uber leaves me.” / He stumbled to the door, and that was the last thing he remembered from the night. ‘tis the damn season // Harry returns to her small hometown over the holiday season and starts to think about the road not taken.

Work you are most proud of (and why): ‘tis the damn season because I have always said that there was absolutely no way I could write an advent fic day by day. And yet, when Nov 30th came around and I only had two chapters, my fomo won over my fear of failure and I thought I’d give it a try, because the worst that would happen is that I wouldn’t finish it, which would’ve been fine! But then with the help of everyone who read along, I actually did it!

A favorite excerpt of your writing: unlike most years, when I quickly scrolled through my works, nothing specific jumped out, so I’ll just say that I really liked how ch 6 rolled into ch 7 in ‘tis the damn season!

Share or describe a favorite review you received: literally every single one.

A time when writing was really, really hard: oh boy. Okay. so if you go back and read my 2022 recap, and 2021, you’ll see that writing has consistently been hard for me for a few years. So, this year I told myself not to worry about it, that I could not write a single thing and not feel bad about it. I didn’t do a ton of writing this year, but having the internal pressure off sure helped. Even though I really miss the way it used to be.

A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: I’ll say Zayn in ‘tis the damn season, because I didn’t have a role for her when I started, and I really liked her as minor threat slash Louis’ bff and sometimes hookup. I want someone to write a story in her pov. lmaoooo How did you grow as a writer this year: I really tried to get rid of my perfectionist tendencies and tried to write without putting pressure on myself.

How do you hope to grow next year: i dont even know, tbh. I’ll be very happy if I match my 2023 fic count.

Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): I adore everything that @disgruntledkittenface put out this year. The way she keeps pushing herself is really inspiring.

Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: ummm, I guess the ‘moving back home thing’... idk. Nothing i wrote this year hit particularly close to home.

Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: i love you. please keep going!

i graduated in may 2023 with my art history degree, so i was deep into ancient egyptian history and art, and had to write a hefty 20 page paper on german painter Albrecht Dürer. my most recent hyperfixation was the uncharted games again, so while writing i was researching the Hoysala empire

Favorite Online Fandom Memory:

first joining tumblr and meeting so many friends on here. but i'll tell you back in 2013 when the citadel dlc for mass effect launched, that was an incredible build up and very fun few months.

Favorite Old Fandom You Wish Would Drag You Back In/Have A Resurgence:

not really an "old" fandom, but i was HEAVY into spiderverse over the summer, met some great mutuals through it. i still spiderverse, but don't feel as fixated with it at the moment. the fandom was kind of annoying with some people's think pieces, not gonna lie, and kind of turned a few of us off from it. i'm sure it'll have another "resurgence" when the next movie Beyond the Spiderverse comes out!

Favorite Thing You Enjoy That Never Had an Active or Big "Fandom" but You Wish It Did:

most recently the movie The Creator! movie was so visually stunning, with great/powerful themes, and one of my favorite tropes: found family (kinda) with a father/daughter dynamic. not enough people liked it/saw it which sucks, so the fandom is pretty much non existent for it. i want more art and fanfics from it! i'm going to be buying it soon, that way i can get inspirited and hopefully create more for it!

i was working on creating a real-life version of nate's notebook from uncharted 4. it's taking a lot of time, and is quite an undertaking so i had to take a break from it. i do want to continue it though!

I also use Poppypaw on accident in one part, but it's clear what I mean. So, Briarhaze takes the littermates and Maplewing to Area Zero. Read this first, then watch the clip

Darkwing wants to go to the crater to obtain his 9 lives and she (Briarhaze) indulges him in that. She plays a middleman, basically.

When the pair of littermates (Poppysong and Darkwing) and Maplewing finds out she had been using them for answers, Poppysong (not paw) is devastated.

OKAY SO I'M GONNA HAVE TO MAKE A PART 3 💀 I HOPE MY LITTLE COMPARISONS ARE AT LEAST A TAD SOUND, BCOZ I KNOW THEY SEEM KINDA DELUSIONAL LMAOOOO

I had so much fun making posts about my stories I did in 2022 last December that I've decided to do a post about the stories I've done in 2023 today! Unlike last year I'm not breaking it down by story so sorry it'll all be one post lmaoooo. And today's the perfect day to do it because this is the third year anniversary of when I started Stray! I'll throw it under a read more because it's a long post lol

Ironically I'm not starting this post off with Stray

FIRST UP

I actually did this one for a secret Santa event I was in a discord for at the time and it's the only instance of a story I've written that didn't have one of the rooftop gang as the main character

technically since the erasermic cats are named Present Meow and Fog this can count as a sneak peak into erasermic post Mic's Bullshit Life where they're now at the dorms lol

Also the Thirteen and Midnight bit of friendship in this story is kind of a subtle hint of where I'm taking their friendship in Crumbled Rooftops

STRAY MY BELOVED

ya'll should thank @shabby-blog extra special for this one because they are 100% the reason this story even got dropped this year. They are also the driving force behind the fact I'm still working on it

as an extra special 3 year anniversary gift and because chapter two is taking so long to finish (it's a beefy bitch) everyone's Christmas present is access to the OG doc that was started on this day 3 years ago. Meaning this doc is from the era I was still writing Mic's Bullshit Life

the version on ao3 was started in October of 2021, then I don't think I touched it again until AFTER I had done the BNHA big bang and written some percentage of crumbled rooftops since that was THE focus

Genuinely one of my favorite things about Stray is the relationships. Emi and Shouta being exes and yet still close best friends. Nemuri showing up in Hizashi's apartment like "WAKE UP NERD". Oboro professing his love for Tensei and five minutes later hoping that Present Mic dropped nudes on Twitter. There's some great relationship things coming up in chapter 2 that I know you guys will love but writing the way these characters interact is a treat

I'm so glad that there are people who like this one and I'm so sorry it's taking so long to get more of it done but i promise. The next chapter will be worth it. And then chapter 3 will be extra worth it (even though I haven't even started that yet)

This is so far my only published cloudnight story and it's also mistnight so it's obviously first and foremost the best thing I've published

I count this story as an apology for what I did to people in chapter 6 of crumbled rooftops

I LOVED writing this one so much. Particularly the opening bit where Kurogiri is like stunned into silence by Nemuri just being Nemuri.

Obviously it takes a lot of cues from the way I write Kuroboro in Crumbled Rooftops in regards to the dynamic between the two of them as well as introducing how late story Kuroboro will probably behave. Getting to go ahead and write Kuroboro where both parties are in agreement that this situation is permanent and are fine with that was a lot of fun since that's the end goal for CR.

And obviously it's always fun getting to write for Nemuri, particularly since the story I gave her the biggest role in is also one of my saddest. Getting to write a dynamic between Nemuri and Kuroboro was WONDERFUL. Obviously a lot of it is pure headcanon because, at most, in canon Oboro definitely crushes on her.

And on that note it's not that Nemuri has an easier time seeing Kuroboro as he is now compared to the Oboro she knew than EraserMic, it's just that the circumstances in this story are different. I didn't get to delve into it so much, but Kuroboro is on far better terms with them as well since he's not competing with them losing Nemuri. Obviously it's still hard on all of them to cope with Kuroboro as he is now but it's EASIER since theu'de not also grieving for Nemuri

obviously this is one of my favorites I've written this year but then again all my stories are my favorite

AND FINALLY

YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT TWO CHAPTERS OF CRUMBLED ROOFTOPS HAVE COME OUT THIS YEAR

Listen. I KNOW it takes me forever to update this one. And I'm once again going to say that shabby is a fucking godsend because they are the reason I managed to get chapter 5 done after I had to rewrite basically all of it just to get it to a point where it was good enough

This story is my BABY, OKAY. It takes a lot of cues from Mockingjay and the entire Hijacked Peeta storyline that I didn't realize until I reread that book earlier this year. And it WORKS.

We hit two pivotal points in this story this year, one of which has been in my mind since the story was originally outlined for the BNHA big bang last year and the other that I kind of happened into.

So to go into chapter 5 first- the Tensei reunion is one of my favorite parts of the story. The way Tensei interacts with Oboro was so GOOD. He is open and honest with Oboro (with the exception of exactly one moment) and it gives Oboro a perspective on things that sets into motion what happens in chapter 6

Not to mention the Eri and Oboro bonding in this chapter is absolute perfection. Eri dropping "your quirk hurts people too doesn't it" and Oboro realizing how similar they are is. Just. One of my favorite things.

BUT CHAPTER 6

CHAPTER. FUCKING. 6.

I am genuinely not lying when I say that one of the first scenes in my head for this story was Oboro confronting Hizashi and Shouta about Nemuri. I wanted the story to get to that moment so bad and I didn't know when or how I was going to get there

So obviously when I started chapter 6 and knew in my heart that THIS was it, it was going to happen in THIS chapter, I knew I had to do it right. And judging by the comments I got for it I feel like I nailed it (LET ME HAVE MY CONFIDENCE)

giving Oboro the single happy moment of finally being called Uncle Oboro was my apology to him

And I want to give a shout-out to the ending of that chapter specifically, since it's one of the few times I acknowledge the manga storyline that's currently ongoing rather than sticking to anime only information. Considering how long it's taken to write this story, when I knew for sure I was going to make Nemuri's death a pivotal part of the plot, that was going to be the major manga spoiler. But the anime beat me to it and suddenly before chapter 6 came out, the audience reading it was more likely to have the same information that everyone but Oboro had- that Nemuri was gone

HOWEVER while it's not particularly a big part of the plot character wise, the original ending to chapter 6 was going to be Oboro alone on the rooftop of UA. That had been set in stone since the reveal scene happened. But at some point in the final arc, at least two of the towers of UA get destroyed. Whether it's ACTUAL UA or not (thanks @machiroads for planting a doubt in my mind lol), my immediate thought was 'oh SHIT my FANFIC'. Because it was absolutely important to me that Oboro warp to the roof of UA, since in his mind it's safety. But suddenly that wasn't there and it changed how that last little bit of the chapter had to go and HONESTLY. IT WORKS SO MUCH BETTER.

I have no idea how long it's going to take me to get the next chapter out but I can tell ya'll this- we're entering the next arc of the story now. The biggest secret is on the table, and what happens next is going to define a lot of how the characters interact with each other and I am so looking forward to sharing it with everyone

AND THAT'S A WRAP. Last year I mostly did trivia bits but this year I just kind of went all over the place lol sorry everyone

anyways.

this fic was such a Project with a capital P that there were so many scenes and little bits i thought of writing, but eventually scrapped for brevity even though we all know that’s not my strong suit. here’s a list of some of my notes under the read more because of spoilers, most of them are more recent because they’re fresher in my memory lol.

for clarity’s sake here’s how i hc it when i write about these characters being vtubers: the models on screen are a more polished or stylized lookalike of the person behind the screen, but without some of the details of the real person. so basically while vtuber!ike looks like how we all know him, the ike you interact with during the off-collab also has blue-tipped hair and gold earrings that match his glasses chain, but doesn’t wear the same thing daily, shows a full range of emotion, and has, ya kno, pores and freckles and all that instead of anime skin. they’re identical but in different art styles lol. (obligatory disclaimer that i’ve always written for the characters and not the real people working for nijisanji, and that we do not encourage unhealthy parasocial relationships here)

i wanted to hone in on the friends-to-lovers dynamic as much as possible by establishing friend moments before the actual meat of the romance during the off-collab. same with establishing pen and paper as a common in-universe ship. i’m a believer that including these scenes only strengthens the dynamic between mc and li, even if they aren’t necessarily about them interacting!

in the same way i wanted to establish the comfort of being in love with your best friend just as much as the worry. the outlast scene is really tense but i wanted to write it so the dialogue there could apply to anyone comparing themselves to others. same with the last two scenes. one of the elements i love most in hurt/comfort is that they can be like little affirmations even when the reader is completely different from the insert. reader and ike have a million different insecurities about themselves but they rarely see what the other is so worried about because it’s just another part to love. and when they do see it, they’re still there for each other even if it’s as simple as a weird photo or as big as pining

while we’re at it SHOUT OUT TO AIA, MIKA AND ALBAN FOR BEING THE REALEST MFS EVER i loved writing those three interacting with reader. they’re so funny sometimes. and when they’re not, they also serve as great sober advice. they all have different ways of getting you there—aia is the “soft” one but encourages you to get out of your comfort zone when she sees an easy way in and out, alban is the one that tells it to you straight and gives godly advice because of it, and because she’s close with both you and ike, mika does a lot of work behind the scenes encouraging you both. but at the end of the day no matter what your love life looks like, those three are there asap if you need them, regardless if they’re online or in-person

in the meanwhile vox, nina, and mika serve as ike’s close circle of friends and i think that’s beautiful lmao. i didn’t make those four’s relationship that explicit but i like to think of it as a family dynamic of sorts. vox and nina are the patient parent figures while mika is a younger sister type, and all of them also hype ike up like how aia, mika and alban hype you up

and speaking of vox i wanted to include him referring to ike as his work husband, and maybe a more serious one-on-one advice/shovel talk with reader about ike. this was one of those things that was tricky to place in the order of scenes, so it was eventually scrapped

honestly i think this fic is more about the power of friendship than the power of love lmao. it’s a love letter to friends that would drop everything for you regardless if they see you romantically or not, just as well to friends that want you to get every bit of happiness you deserve

you can probably tell how much of this fic is ruled by close friendships down to the kiss scene. reader is pretty clumsy with their feelings, and ike is even worse (though reader never notices because they’re so worried about themselves). i have this hc that for his first kisses, ike would always ask before he goes in, but if it weren’t for that this would’ve been one of those mutual go-for-it wordless kisses, you know what i mean? where everything feels right and even righter when you realize the other person is also leaning in

ESPECIALLY WHEN READER BUMPS IKE’S GLASSESSSSSSSS one of my favorite things in fic is when it’s not always picture perfect and people mess up! and then roll with it! things happen irl including being clumsy but those things tend to be the parts that make things special. i said what i said about reader and ike always being there for each other even when they’re insecure and i meant it. especially because the happiness is so contagious that reader smiles before kissing back and how they both take a laugh break before kissing even more

ren’s ukulele is also a personal touch. it’s not a very grand feeling to just zone out with your friends while one of them plays music, but it is one that i hope everyone experiences once. it really is comfortable, and if you have a friend that’s a bit of a smartass like ren? it gets funny too

when this fic was in development around early april if i remember correctly, ren did a karaoke stream with iris, which was the moment i realized that was the perfect song to describe the fic. i mention a bunch of other songs but iris is the “theme song”. it’s romantic and pretty and intimate, but with an ukulele and nina casually singing along, it fits the comfortable vibe well

wannabe by the spice girls was chosen for the recognizable goofy factor alone. i mentioned motionless in white, my first story and spiritbox mostly because i’ve heard ike mention them before on stream, but spiritbox gets a special shoutout here because i’m pretty sure they’re one of the only ike band recommendations i actually like (talluh too if you include the two songs i’ve listened to). toxicity gets mentioned because, uh… i was watching gavis bettel’s birthday karaoke when that happened and he was too blasted to do system of a down but that just stuck with me. i also have to admit i never actually listened to the emo holy trinity and only knew one mcr song from guitar hero but luckily it’s recognizable and it’s in a wide enough range that i think most people could sing it. ahhh i wish writing lyrics in fic wasn’t so clunky! i have such a picture in my mind of how reader and ike would sing the breakdown and onward

vox singing george strait is pure self-indulgence and i am begging us all to imagine handsome from the cowboy asmr singing christmas cookies. i have been thinking about this since october 2022

the final bonus scene is a neat bow to explain the important parts of the off-collab as well as ike’s real feelings. after all, the fic was written with limited pov and one of the major sources of tension is that ike’s feelings aren’t explicitly stated until the second confession (and the high-stress q&a stream). i wanted it to be so reflective and fond that it feels like a victory lap, and reaffirm what reader and ike’s relationship actually means to him even though he struggles with articulating it out loud

that final scene also had the most ideas that ended up scrapped. this includes but is not limited to: ike telling chat about the cafe with reader but without admitting it was a date, alban teasing ike in the chat, reader teasing ike in the chat, confirming that uki and ren going cafe-hopping was actually so they could playfully gossip about the sexual tension in this airbnb, actual descriptions of the photos reader took, confirming that ike or reader stole the other’s shirt (ike is a smaller guy so i wanted to keep it ambiguous for any reader body types), redirecting to reader’s stream, ike and alban actually talking about why alban knows so much (and him giving ike a shovel talk), and maybe most tragic of all; a forum-style text post scene where the delulu fans get it right for once and guess that reader and ike are in a secret relationship

i might write the delulu fan forum fic one day for fun but if i do then i’m going to call this little series “the pliskinverse” unironically and im that is not a fate i want to impose upon anyone

the word ~ verisimilitude ~ recently entered my vocabulary from a review of the candle cove creepypasta. it basically means when fiction seems authentic, like how a kind character would have polite manners or how an evil villain would laugh completely different than the hero. you could say an ooc fanfic would lack verisimilitude for example. anyways i bring this up because that creepypasta is formatted like a forum thread with distinct personalities between the posters... just like how i wanted the chatters to come across! i don't think it's subtle but i did write them all with different personalities and interests in mind. maybe for fun you can look through them and figure out what team they all play for, even though i'm awful at coming up with fake usernames

― EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS? My earliest memories are from when I was around 12-14 on some obscure rp forum that is still barely clinging to life last I looked. I did a lot of rping on AIM & MSN Messenger... and then fell out of the hobby for a few years when a friend (and main rp partner) passed away. Sheila & Eve (& Gatsby) were conceptualized on Gaia in 2011, and the group I wrote with (👋 hi steph LMAOOOO) moved to tumblr a short while later, annnnd... I've kinda been here ever since.

Whoever that anon was from years ago who was like "ummm don't you think you're too old to be rping :\" well I'm even older now.

― FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT? Hitting my partners all day every day with fluff + angst wombo combo until they beg for mercy. Smut is not something that's ever happened with this character for... a variety of reasons... and I would only ever feel comfortable writing such things with a long-term ship partner.

― PLOTS OR MEMES? My strength lies in improvisation; some of my favorite, most memorable threads had absolutely zero plotting. A little plotting is fine, but I love the element of surprise, so I don't like mapping everything out in excruciating detail. I also don't do memes very often just because I lack the energy :( And I've always felt bad for sending in memes to friends without ever really giving them an opportunity to send me memes in turn.

― LONG OR SHORT REPLIES? Comfy zone is pretty much anything from one-liners to a couple paragraphs. Otherwise I just—I dunno—burn through my already scant reserves of creative energy way too quickly.

― TIME TO WRITE? Ungodly hours in the morning when most everyone else is asleep so there are minimal distractions. Unfortunately, this means my sleep schedule is usually trash. If you see me posting replies at 5am no you don't.

― ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)? When Sheila was new, the only things we had in common were our musical instruments of choice (we're both pianists) and—rather unintentionally—our chronic back pain. Due to the way I developed her character over the years (I don't like retcons, so there are a lot of ghosts in Sheila's past, for better or worse), we've become more alike in the Department of Crippling Trust Issues, and I do sometimes wish I had developed her differently because I worry that people may mistake her for a self-insert or think I'm projecting way too much onto her. Oops.

also pomegranates, we both love pomegranates (all my OCs love pomegranates). I think our sense of humor is also similar (? I need a third party to confirm or deny this) although my clown shoes are bigger by far.

Hey, it’s the anon from the Jett cuddling request ! First of all, I really love the cuddling post ! I was thinking, can you maybe write about how Jett (I can’t help it), and other characters you want, reacts when the reader get wounded during a mission. First I want to announce once again- I AM NOT DEAD. I AM SIMPLY AN OVERWHELMED STEM MAJOR. With that said, I have made a ton of progress on requests and a few WIPs I've been stewing on, so expect some posts from me this upcoming weekend.

Second, I adoooore a good hurt/comfort scenario. it's iterally one of my favorite tropes in fanficiton. I also adore Jett LMAOOOO, so I had a lot of fun coming up with ideas for this request! Thank you for submitting, Anon（＾ｖ＾）

For her eleventh birthday, Jett's grandmother paid for a year of sewing classes for her. The older woman was an avid seamstress herself and was ecstatic that Jett was finally old enough to begin learning the art of the craft. She already had a mountain of ideas for lazy afternoons the two could spend together- prepping squares for quilting, trips together to the craft store to purchase bolts of fabric, pouring over hanbok patterns until they found one Jett liked. Jett always loved watching her work on clothes in her studio, so she had little doubt the girl would love learning to sew herself. She was absolutely over the moon, but there was just one tiny flaw in her master plan.

Jett hated every second of it.

For fifty two Saturdays, from four to six o’clock, Jett felt more like she was marching herself off to war rather than heading to the community center. She constantly pricked her thumb when sewing something by hand, couldn’t remember to include seam allowance to save her life, and almost always managed to jam the sewing machine after only a few stitches. Whether the instructor was running to fetch her a spare thimble or hurriedly untangling the thread of Jett’s machine, the annoyed girl found herself glancing at a calendar on the wall, certain that month would be her last.

Never again, she’d vow to herself.

I’m never doing this again.

And yet every week, every Saturday until that year was finally up, she found herself coming back. Fortunately, during that time, her grandmother found peace in the fact that her grandaughter simply wasn’t destined to follow in her footsteps.

Jett thought she’d finally rid herself of sewing forever, sticking to eagerly watching her grandmother work on new projects but never actively participating herself.

In the present, however, Jett once more found herself with a needle in hand. It wasn’t pin-straight like the ones she used to work with, though. It was instead sloped into a soft C shape, the medical-grade nylon threaded in it tinted a slight pink. She gingerly dropped it in the steel tray that came with the med kit, hardly registering the metallic ‘tink’ it made when it landed. Her gaze was fixed to her handiwork in front of her, eyes following every crooked line she’d sewn you back together with.

“Oh god,” she croaked quietly to herself, her voice quivering.

“Oh my god- It’s… um, it’s bad, isn’t it?”

Her hands trembled as she examined the shoddy job, her fingers brushing over the new stitches across your side as feather light as possible. Your skin was pinched together awkwardly in some areas, the spacing between each stitch not nearly as uniform or neat as Sage’s were. The spots at each site where the needle passed through were slowly turning an angry red, clearly irritated at her attempts to clean and patch your wound. She could almost hear every whimper and pinched inhale you made with each incision, her shoulders visibly tensing with each sound that echoed back to her.

She should’ve known something was off as soon as you made it back to the carrier. Your complexion had gone visibly ashen and your skin seemed to have lost its usual warmth. It was such an odd thing, watching you shiver while also sweat profusely at the same time. You were extremely ginger with your movements, too, wincing whenever you shifted in your seat and pinching your eyes shut after every breathy laugh whenever Jett cracked a nervous joke.

It all happened so fast. Just when Jett noticed the blood soaking the side of your uniform, the red staining your hand when you finally peeled it away from your side, your eyes were already rolling back and the hold on your gun went slack.

Her only saving grace, the only thing keeping her from completely loosing her cool, was the unsteady up-down of your chest and your drastically tempered blood loss. She tried to steady her own breaths, moving to run a red-stained hand through her white hair before she caught herself. She froze, her fingers just grazing the top of her head. She hastily brought her hand down and awkwardly wiped it on her shirt. A small part of her knew it wouldn't wash out very easily, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.

“No, it’s not. It’s fine, it’s fine.”

She found herself smoothing back a strand of tangled hair behind your ear, expecting a small wince or a soft groan from you. Her heart skipped several beats when you gave zero reaction to the touch. Jett swallowed hard.

“You’ll be fine. Or better than last time, at least.”

“I have to agree with you there. Bullet holes are much harder to patch up,” Brimstone called out suddenly from his spot in the cockpit, clearly having heard everything she said.

“You did a good job. Sage is already waiting on the loading dock for us. She can handle things from there.”

Jett cleared her throat, but even still, her next words came out hoarse.

“How much longer?”

Brimstone met her gaze briefly in the reflection of the carrier’s canopy, his blue eyes flashing to your still form on the carrier floor before fixing forward once again.

“Six minutes at most. I’m going as fast as I can, kid.”

By the way Jett's face fell, he might as well have told her it’d be another eternity. She situated herself further on the floor, sitting cross legged with your head pulled into her lap. She kept a laser sharp focus on your breathing, occasionally glancing at the watch on her wrist.

“Five minutes, twenty-eight seconds,” she told herself.

If Brimstone noticed the way she occasionally bent down to brush her lips against your forehead, or the way her thumbs rubbed soothing circles on the tops of your shoulders, he opted against scolding her for it. Frankly though, she didn't think she would give a damn if he did.

“Never again,” she murmured against your temple, her vision growing blurry.

“You’re never making me do this again.”

You weren't sure what time it was. You weren't sure where you were, why your throat was so dry, or if you were standing or sitting down. You weren't even sure if you could open your eyes. Despite it all- the sudden awareness of a blanket being pulled further over your body, the foreign ache in your side with every breath, and the seemingly distant sound of metal chair legs scraping against tile- your mouth was moving before you could help yourself.

"That's what you said last time."

Your surroundings seemed to go abruptly still, the silence making your ears prick in a way that told you the room wasn't always so quiet. It was only interrupted by the hushed, sharp inhale that sounded from your left side. A pair of warm hands circled around your own, the usual feeling of fingerless gloves replaced by soft palms. You cracked a barely-there smile, knowing for sure it was your girlfriend sitting beside you.

"Huh?" Jett asked.

"You're never making me do this again," you quoted, the last words you registered hearing still fresh on your mind.

"That's what you told me last time."

"Oh... the carrier."

You could hear Jett sit forward in her chair, the sudden weight of her elbows making the bed dip slightly as she leaned closer to you.

"I was being serious back there. You're not allowed to let yourself get hurt like that anymore, okay? I can't-"

She let out a pinched sigh.

"I can't keep seeing you like that."

Guilt settled heavily in your stomach. Slowly but surely, you managed to open your eyes and blink a few times. It was like your brain was covered in molasses, even the littlest tasks requiring maximum effort. Had breathing not been an automatic bodily function, you might have been in some serious trouble.

Your vision swam as you slowly tilted your head in Jett's direction, a soft exhale escaping your lips as her face finally came into focus. She was exhausted, if the dark circles under her eyes and the disheveled state of her hair were anything to go by. You still found yourself longing to trace the lines of her face and tell her how pretty she was.

The ghost of a smile graced her lips as you attempted to give her a wave. The most you managed was a lazy raise of your hand. As if she could read your mind, she was speaking again.

"You're on some serious pain meds right now. They might make you feel a little off, and probably a little tired, too."

"I see."

It took you a lot longer than you'd care to admit to lower your hand, hating the way her brows pinched together in concern as you shakily rested your arm on your stomach. You hated to make her worry at all, but these past few missions, it seemed that was all you were capable of doing. Your eyes fluttered shut again as you took in a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, Sunwoo. I thought it wasn't that big of a deal and I didn't want to freak you out over something small. I figured I'd find Skye when we got back and that would be that, but clearly-"

You jerked your head awkwardly in the direction of the infirmary's sign.

"-I was wrong."

Jett was silent for a beat, one of her thumbs rubbing thoughtful circles on the back of your hand. After a little while, the room was echoing with her quiet voice.

"I can't deny I hate seeing you hurt, but I'd much rather know ahead of time instead of finding out when it gets bad."

"I wasn't shot this time though, only stabbed. That's an improvement. I think."

She weakly chuckled. You gave her hand a squeeze, the sudden weightlessness of your body telling you that you were moments away from slipping back into sleep. Try as you might, though, you simply couldn't peel your eyes back open.

"You won't have to worry about it again, Sunwoo," you words were slurring, but that didn't make them any less sincere.

"I promise. I'll be more careful."

"Thank you."

You hardly registered the press of her lips against your cheek, your mouth moving ahead of your brain.

"I'll stitch myself up next time. Just give me the stuff. My work will outshine Sage's, I swear."

"I believe you, jagiya."

Jett stayed where she was long after your rambling had fallen silent and your breathing had gone slow and deep, your eyes moving beneath your eyelids as you dreamt. A familiar weight settled square on her shoulders, a mixture of determination and dread as she thought about the next mission coming up in a few weeks. It reminded her of the feeling she used to get on Saturday evenings, when she toyed with the lock on her bike before finally working up the courage to wheel it out of the garage. There was always a moment of hesitation, a fumble of her key.

But she always followed through because it was for someone she loved.

And just as she was sure to have a few bandaids in her pocket so she wouldn't have to nurse a pricked finger on the way home, she was already making a mental note to restock the carrier with more medical supplies.

"A fairy looses its wings every time I have to open a med kit, I swear," Jett grumbled, her gaze fixed on the way her fingers intertwined with yours.

"But if I can fly without them, certainly they can manage, too."

well this one is hard. because does max count (i totally think she's coming back alive btw) im saying she counts. I CAN'T F-FEEL OR SEE ANYTHITGN. I DONT WANT TO DIE IM NOT READY. AFTER HER BEING FUCKING SUICIDAL AND ANXIOUS DISTANCING HERSELF FROM EVERYONE ALL SEASON AND HER CLUTCHING ON TO LUCAS SAYING SHE DOES WANT TO LIVE SHE DOES SHE DOESN'T WANT TO DIE SHE WANTS TO KEEP FIGHTING I- RHAHHHHHHHH. her arc is about finding the will to live and then they. fucking. killed her. 5. should eddie have died in s4 or should it have been steve?

eddie fulfilled his purpose. he absolutely should have died in s4 (as in, the options are eddie never existed and steve dies or what we got in the show, that bitch was not living till s5) and im happy with the choice. i think steve dying in season 5 is a much better choice, because we've bonded with him, we like him (despite his fans), and he means so much to the kids. it'll hit harder in s5. from a screenwriting perspective, i think steve dying in s5 is better than in s4.

but on the other hand, i dont think they should have emphasised dustin and eddie's relationship that much. it should have been like a 'he was innocent, he didn't deserve this' death and not a 'oh no my best friend/older brother figure' death. bc the second one is steve.

so yes, i like eddie dying in s4 as long as steve dies in s5

6. Death predictions in s5?

oh. haha. steve. he's a fucking goner. for sure. i think steve confesses his uNdYiNg LoVe to nance, dies, and then everyone freaks out bc 'omg st3ddie are in heaven together.'

i do think all of the kids are safe, re: will, mike, lucas, dustin, el and max. they have specifically said its ending happy, and any of the main party dying is not happy. that said im a little scared for dustin. just like. 1%. if you told me one of the kids was out, i think its him. but im pretty sure they're all good.

robins safe, #diversity, nance is safe #love triangle security, argyle might be in danger, but he kind of doesn't feel important enough to die (i love him but dude doesn't even have a last name ffs), if steve dies then jonathan is safe, but if steve lives, jon's in trouble,

i think both joyce and hop are safe, hop especially, they did not fake him out in s3, then have him be gone for alllll of s4 just to kill him off in s5. fucking pointless (i do wish he died in s3 though. im a hopper hater, fight me.)

vickie is also safe, #diversity and also she's too clueless, max is double super duper safe (because why save her from such a good and epic and sad death just to kill her later), i do think murray is in trouble, its been a good long game death and he (sadly) isn't that much of a fan fav. erica may be in a bit of hot water. she's a fan fav and her death would be hard on both viewers and characters

also im hoping dreaming and praying for lonnie to come back so jonathan can kill him with either his bare fucking hands or (and this one i like) a chainsaw. please. please. PLEASE GIVE JON A CHAINSAW IN SEASON 5 I BEG YOU DUFFERS.

so steve, murray, erica and (🤞) lonnie are the only ones i think im sure enough to predict are dying, in that order of likeliness.
