Ofmd is so special this is a show where pretty much every single character is queer and the two main characters are two middle aged men working through their explicitly canon romance. And the fact that they’re all queer isn’t something spoon-fed to the audience but it’s also so explicitly there, and it also explores themes revolving around masculinity, queerness, and community???

And it’s also about pirates.

I think part of what makes heartstopper so good is because it’s written as a backstory.

Alice already had nick and Charlie as an established loving supportive couple written as background characters in tori spring’s story (solitaire)

This isn’t a story of will they won’t they or even a dramatic story of getting together. We already know they end up together. And we know they stay together happily. Instead, Heartstopper is an exploration of how this couple built their strong and beautiful relationship starting from when they met. Alice has said that the “getting together” part of relationship stories is the least interesting part in their opinion.

And I think that mentality is what makes the story so rich and meaningful. It’s the story of how a healthy long term relationship is built over time and how it grows.

I love Nick and Charlie’s story. And I hope it can model a healthy relationship to young people out there who-like I did- subconsciously learn a lot by watching tv and movies.

Thank you to @sidraofthewildflowers for sending this pic to me because it’s so beautifully helaegon in my mind

- I’ve used this picture before for a wedding au but I need to revisit it!

- Helaena who wants the wedding to be small with only close family and friends. Aegon who only wants to get married to her and will do whatever she asks.

- They get married at their moms house in the yard. It’s decorated with flowers and theres a little handmade alter. Criston spent days crafting it for them. He even had Alicent help him find the right flowers to add to it. In the top corner, he engraved Aegon and Helaena’s initials in the wood.

- Criston was the one to walk Helaena down the asile. Daeron and Aemond are Aegon’s best men. Daeron is jumping from excitement and Aemond keeps poking Aegon and teasing him.

- Helaena wore Alicent’s mothers wedding dress. Alicent wanted to wear it to her own wedding, but she hadnt been allowed to. So she saved it for her future children. Helaena loved the look of it and knew, the moment that she tried it on, it was the dress that she would get married in.

- Alicent helped to braid and do Helaena’s hair for the wedding, and then Helaena helped Alicent with her own hair.

- The dinner was full of warm food and Daeron walking around filming everyone.

- The wedding was simple and small, and it was perfect. It was the kind of wedding that one would imagine for Aegon and Helaena. They were happy, and that’s what mattered.

The hospital scene in Dystocia is going to be so fucking funny. Kim got kidnapped right before hand, right? And like, he’s been captive for a few days, so he’s not looking great. But he gets rescued and brought to the hospital by Kinn, in his Full Mafia GloryTM. Black sedans and bodyguards everywhere, you know the drill. Baby brother is having his own baby and Kinn is not fucking around. Keeps intimidating all the staff to make sure Kim is well taken care of (he just wants to be left alone tbh, calm down Kinn, nothing is even happening yet).

And then when doing Kim’s intake assessment the nurse sees all these bruises and blood from being kidnapped and killing his way out, and she’s like uhhh. Are you okay?? And aside from being hangry and having a generally bad attitude, Kim is chillin. She keeps asking him leading questions, 100% sure he’s a trafficking victim. He showed up pregnant and beaten with the head of the mafia, what else is she supposed to think???

Kim finds it both mortifying and a little hilarious, bc oh yeah, this looks kind of terrible. He has to spend a l o n g time reassuring his nurse that no he’s fine, it’s just his brother, and DW Kinn isn’t even that scary he’s just terrified of becoming an uncle. Just let him go bully the head of security for a little bit and he’ll calm down.

Chay is just in the corner of the room wondering how this became his life. Porsche thinks it’s all hilarious.
