This one is simply a masterpiece by the immensely talented Anney; definitely check out her other fics!

Wow - simply devastating, haunting, an ode to these two as drivers, set in a dystopian future AU. The world building is absolutely incredible, but at its heart is such a beautiful story of love and hope. This one doesn't get enough recognition. (TW: implied non-con, not between Lestappen.)

Unlearn by wantinghopingwriting (Tazza1993) (@lightsoutfullhearts) - NR, 45k words

This is another all-time favourite, a must-read. Fake/pretend relationship to lovers multi-chapter story that is ever so satisfying; both of them are so well characterized. Set in a parallel-ish 2022 season. I really cannot recommend this one enough.

Post 2021 Monaco Grand Prix. Max wants to take their relationship further; Charles... doesn't. Oh my God, where do I begin to describe how much I love this fic. The language is beautiful, both of them are so well-written, and I feel punched in the gut over and over again in the best way. The ending (well, the whole thing) is so damn satisfying.

Max has a meltdown in the cereal aisle (yes, the cereal aisle) at 3 am when he realizes he is in love with Charles despite the latter's questionable taste in cereal. She also wrote a banger of a Lestappen soon-to-be teammates fic, so make sure to check out her profile.

Max makes Spotify playlists for the grid. Fluffy, funny, care-free, liberal use of nicknames, with a healthy dose of feels between Max and Charles. A really fun read.

Max and Charles spend summer of 2020 together in Malibu and try not to fall in love. Spoiler alert: they fall in love. I feel the urge to explain something: When I first started reading Lestappen, there were less than 250 fics in their entire tag (yeah I know, we are currently close to 3000 fics, which is insane). From 2019-2021, we truly lived off crumbs. So trust me when I say that we owe so much to altissimozucca, who wrote something like 40% of the fics in the Lestappen tag and nearly single-handedly kept us fed in those days. It's so hard to pick one of her fics to recommend, so make sure you check out her profile for more!

Honestly honestly the most romantic moment of the entire series is when Neil talks about how he'd never gotten to travel for fun before and the Foxes are planning to take him to the mountains, and Kevin starts to protest that they can't go on vacation but stops because Andrew is holding a knife on him 😭🥺😩 like I don't know that's just just a sweet little moment to me, Andrew threatening Kevin if he takes this little chance for happiness from Neil

Uhhhh literally Andrew “I-don’t-care” Minyard is the most romantic of ALL the foxes. My line of work revolves around intimacy and from all my training and studying let me tell you that man is a master at his craft.

Andrew’s touch is beautiful and sacred; this thing he does not take easily, or give out kindly whatsoever. Yet with Neil it’s as if he can’t stop himself. We see it in how gently he tapes the garbage bags around Neil’s injuries, wordlessly, without being asked. THAT’S intimacy. How he holds his neck to inspect his eyes when he removes his contacts, how he hands Neil cigarettes without a request, how he doesn’t say a word while touching Kevin with the point of a blade because Neil deserves a fucking break. Sure, by technicalities, the shower scene from TKM is intimate by definition, but really it’s in the kiss he ghosts across Neil’s hip, in how he pats dry his broken skin afterwards. How can you look at him wordlessly dropping keys into Neil’s palms, and think, yeah there’s no way Andrew could be romantic. Is he soft, is he gentle, as a person? No. But his minuscule actions are, his unmentioned gestures are. You just have to look and find them.

TKM just has some of the most subtly beautiful examples of a different flavour of love and intimacy that is so unusual and heartwarming it’s insane. That shower scene drives me crazy when I think about how caring Andrew is in it. He came in with the tape and bags on his own volition, knowing Neil needed a shower and couldn’t do it unattended. How he didn’t take away Neil’s autonomy by assuming he couldn’t undress himself, instead waiting until he paused and couldn’t go any further before he started to help. How he drapes the blanket over Neil’s shoulders, again giving Neil a chance to struggle before wrapping it around him. They practically don’t speak to each other really in that chapter at all apart from a bit of flirting in the shower. Because they don’t need to, because Andrew knows how to love, how to be caring, how to wrap up the boy he almost lost in bubble wrap because if he loses him again, it won’t be pretty. He washes Neil’s hair! He covers his wounds! He treats him gently when that is possibly the last word that could ever be used to describe Andrew. I feel like that scene was in part of course him just looking after Neil who can use approximately two square inches of his entire body, but in another part proving how serious he is about Neil. Everything changes between the two of them then, suddenly their actions more relaxed than hungry, not yet a given but instead now just a want.

I don’t know. I can’t help but see so much intimacy and romance in subtleties and things you’d barely even notice, regardless of the people/the characters and their circumstances. I wouldn’t use the word sweet to describe Andrew at all, but the things he does for Neil? The way that he loves Neil? The absolutely fucking sweetest.

I played Resident Evil 4 Remake last year after playing RE2R and RE3R respectively and I have already become attached to the franchise in a way that I cannot stop thinking about it. RE4R is for me what I assume people have felt playing the original in 2005—fun, exhilirating, WILD. I love it so much that there is just a smile on my face whenever I think about it, and I already see nyself replaying this absolutely phenomenal game over and over in the future (but I do plan to play the original RE4 before I do that!).

And Ashley. Oh my god, I fucking love Ashley. She is so sweet, caring, adorable, and so, so thoughtful. I was truly on board with Leon in rescuing her, and every time she wasn't around, I was just so sad because her presence is very much missed. I will protect this girl with my life, make no mistake. There were moments in the game where I actually teared up, and she's part of those beautiful moments. The mountain of love the devs have for this game—I felt it in every second that I played. It's so heartwarming seeing a game that I mostly ignored back in the day from the early 2000s evolve into a much more grounded, lovingly packaged title. Massive respect. I'm quite sad I got into the series so so late, but overall, I'm so happy I'm still around to enjoy it anyway.

Oh, and I still have to play the Separate Ways DLC. I'm kind of really lost in the Mercernaries mode, don't mind me. It's so fucking fun UGH I canNOT believe the combat in this game it's soooo addicting, just pure adrenaline rush.

P.S. Also yes I've seen comparison clips of OG Ashley and Remake Ashley. My time with the OG version will be... interesting. Let's leave it at that.

Sbf!Bucky has been really heavily requested recently and now I feel like I've been neglecting him 😩 I really enjoy writing him and it lets me dabble in my dream of being a milf some day

But I feel like he has a real sweet tooth. He's a dessert guy, 110%. Not like your husband or your son.

From the very first Sunday that your son brought Bucky over for dinner, he's been so into your desserts because a good dessert is something he's really missed during his last couple of years at college. It doesn't even really matter what you make, every week he tells you it's even better than whatever you made the Sunday before.

The store bought, dry cakes he sometimes treats himself to don't even come close to the fluffy sponges you make for him. He tells you your lemon meringue is better than the one his aunt used to make and your pies are probably a cure for sadness. He exaggerates but at least he sounds sincere.

And it's nice. It's nice that he appreciates your effort. It's nice that your desserts actually get eaten and enjoyed. It's nice that you're not sitting at the dinner table alone after lunch. Company is nice. Compliments are nice.

"I know it's late but I don't want you to think I'd forgotten." You made yourself busy in the kitchen, talking a little louder so Bucky could still hear you in the dining room. He usually helped you plate up dessert but not today.

"What are you talking about?" Bless him, he sounded so confused. "I can give you a hand if you like?"

"No, it's okay. Close your eyes." You thought your instruction was clear enough but Bucky still protested.

"Just close your eyes, Buck." You could've sworn you felt him raise his eyebrows but he did as he was told anyway.

You set the plate in front of him and laid a little dessert fork above his placemat. "I know your birthday was last Tuesday but I thought we could still celebrate it today. You're only 24 once." Bucky opened his eyes to the most mouth watering slice of chocolate cake he swore he'd ever seen in his life.

Two thick layers of moist chocolate sponge with a rich chocolate icing in between. The cake must have been heated for a couple of minutes, making the icing warm enough to make the layers slide slightly. Thick, warm chocolate sauce rolled down the sides, taking with it a light dusting of powdered sugar, almost washing away the single lit birthday candle. The plate was decorated with a perfect scoop of cool vanilla ice cream and some fresh strawberries, left overnight in a teaspoonful of sugar to draw out their juice.

"You didn't need to make a whole cake just for me!" His genuine excitement was heartwarming, quickly blowing out his candle before wax melted onto his dessert.

"Sweetheart, I make a whole cake just for you every week. Happy birthday." You lifted the little dessert fork, slicing through the sponge with it, making sure to add a little ice cream and a slice of strawberry before raising it to his lips.

You could swear he actually moans when the cake passes his lips. He makes the same noise at dessert every Sunday and you swear you never get tired of hearing it. It's so close to the noise he makes when he first sinks inside you and God, that sound is beautiful.

Your foot grazes his leg, gently but deliberately and there's a battle going on behind those eyes when he takes the fork from his own mouth. On one hand, your husband is in the next room, sitting beside your son, Bucky's best friend. On the other hand, Bucky needs you to know how much he appreciates this. Appreciates you. And if he's honest with himself, your husband and son being so close has never stopped him before.

"Fuck, you've ruined me." He groans, pressing his lips to yours in a hurry. Somehow you manage to stifle your surprise, catching up when he presses you back onto the dining room table.

"You and those fucking desserts. It's not fair. You get me half hard during dinner and then you feed me the best chocolate cake I've ever had? Do you know how unfair that is?" His hands are all over you, pulling your skirt up in between frantic kisses.

The chocolate cake is all but forgotten, the ice-cream left to melt while Bucky kisses your neck before he tugs your panties off, tucking them into the back pocket of his jeans.

You and Jimmy had been dating for two years now, and your family loved him. He had come with you to visit them often and they had become just as attached to him as you had. You were thankful for that. Especially your siblings. You were one of four, your parents had always loved the idea of having a big family, and honestly, so did you. You adored all your siblings, you always had a really good relationship with them all. Your older brother hadn't long turned twenty-eight, your younger brother is fourteen, and your baby sister is two and a half. You were the second eldest. And your younger siblings had immediately become attached to Jimmy, your older brother liked him too.

Your younger siblings had often dragged Jimmy to play with them. Your brother often asked him to play video games or football out back. They had formed a beautiful bond and we're super close, he turned to Jimmy for advice often. And your sister, unwillingly, dragged Jimmy to play dolls, house, dress up, all the typical things you would expect. Jimmy could never resist when she spoke in that cute baby voice and struggled to say words, it pulled at his heartstrings and he would honestly do anything she asked. Which is what led you to today.

You and Jimmy are over at your parent's house for your weekly Saturday night family dinner, you were helping to set the table. Jimmy had gone outside to play football at your brother's request to join, and all three were enjoying themselves and luckily, not getting muddy because the weather was beautiful. You were helping your mother to cook, spending about two hours doing so, whilst your father watched football on the TV. Your baby sister was playing in her playpen with her toys, babbling happily to herself. You heard her mention something about 'a good dolly' and 'make food'. She was obviously learning and watching you and your mother, it was quite adorable.

Honestly, the afternoon couldn't be more perfect if you'd planned it yourself, it was amazing and everything you've always wanted with a partner. Watching Jimmy interact with your brothers was something you absolutely adored, it was so sweet and heartwarming to watch them bond so well with one another like they do. You hear the sound of footsteps coming towards your direction, looking up from the cookies you were making for dessert, you see Jimmy standing in front of you grabbing a drink. Jimmy flashes you his million-dollar smile, adding a wink when he notices you staring and admiring his beauty.

He leans over the counter, avoiding the chocolatey dough everywhere and kisses you. His one hand cups your face tenderly, thumb stroking the soft skin of your cheek. You smile into the kiss before pulling away, having to push Jimmy away because he kept coming back to peck your lips multiple times. You giggle happily, "Go! You're distracting me from my cookies." you fake stern shout, pointing a finger to the back garden. Jimmy chuckles but leaves nonetheless, joining your father on the couch with a beer in hand. You smile as you hear your father greet Jimmy happily, the sound of a hand slapping against a shoulder lets you know he greeted him in his fatherly way with the boys. You were grateful for the closeness of your family's bond with him, it was wonderful.

This was how you loved your evenings, surrounded by family who loved each other and your partner. Your brothers playing football outside, your sister playing with her toys and babbling happily, your mother humming a tune you loved as she manoeuvred around the kitchen with years worth of practice to be perfect at cooking, and your father happily yelling at the TV as he drank a beer with your boyfriend.

Eventually, after three batches of baked cookies and most of the food is done cooking, you take a peek to check on your little sister. You frown when you notice she isn't in her playpen anymore and is also very quiet. At the same moment, your little brother comes into the kitchen for a drink, he and your older brother had come in from paying shortly ago. "Hey little man, where's sissy?" you ask as you pass him a bottle of water from the fridge and place a kiss on his head. He shrugs as he hugs you, "dunno. Went with Jimmy to her room I think?" You nod and then clean your hands before going to investigate where the pair had sneaked off. On your way down the hallway, you hear the familiar sound of your sister's favourite movie, Barbie The Princess and The Pauper. You smile and almost laugh as you hear Jimmy and your sister singing along to the song 'I Am A Girl Like You' one of your personal favourites.

You push the door open gently and lean against the doorframe, almost bursting into laughter as you catch sight of your sister sitting on Jimmy's lap as she plasters his face in pinks, purples, and blues with makeup to match Barbie on the screen. You try to giggle silently but it alerts them both, your sister comes running towards you and pulls you by your hand into the room to join them. The Holdovers - A really heartwarming movie. Saw this one with my mom and we both really enjoyed it. Can't recommend this one enough!

Asteroid City - I love Wes Anderson's films and this is my favorite of his recent work. Great performances from the whole cast and a really interesting concept

Dream Scenario - Just such a wild premise, a great performance from Nic Cage and some surprisingly relevant social commentary. Would have been the biggest pleasant surprise of the year for me, had it not been for...

Godzilla Minus One - Biggest surprise of the year for me from a movie. Please go see this in theaters if you can. Surprisingly heartfelt movie. Really has no right being so good and it breaks my heart that some will just write this off as "another Godzilla movie"

When Evil Lurks - Just a truly WILD horror movie. Fair warning: NOT for the faint of heart.

Poor Things - There really isn't any movie like this one. A really wild ride. Beautiful looking set design, really creative shots, Emma Stone is brilliant, and it's a really great movie but be warned: there is some dark subject matter in this one.

The Boy and the Heron - Ghibli movies will generally always make my list. I'm a simple penguin: I let Hayao Miyazaki take me on another whimiscal, heartfelt, uplifting, and beautifully animated adventure and I will simply recommend it to anyone and everyone I see

Cobweb - Criminally underrated horror movie. An absolutely WILD performance from Lizzy Caplan and just a really fun horror movie to watch on a dark night. It's not an "elevated horror" film (whatever that means 🙄) but just a really fun, spooky experience

Killers of the Flower Moon - One of Scorsese's best movies, full stop. Really harrowing subject matter. Really upsetting at times. Never treated trivially and never feels exploitative. These are the types of stories of America's shameful past that absolutely need to be told and this is told with the respect that the subject matter deserves. Lily Gladstone is AMAZING.

This is the first time this song appears in the series and the title is perfectly fitting for the other scenes as well. While the full song itself starts much earlier, the recognizable ‘Burial and Prayer’ measures begin when June steps into the grave. This is arguably (for me...arguing with myself) the most beautiful music composed for the series ♥️

3x03 “Nick Says Goodbye”

June and Nick both knew this might very well be the last time they'd ever see each other since going to the front of the war could easily be a death sentence. Based on the title of the song, I'd personally like to know *how* Nick chose to say goodbye behind that locked door ♥️🔥

Even though the theme appears multiple times, Nick & June in 3x03 is always the first that comes to mind for me when I hear it. When the music for this scene started, I immediately thought of Nick and wondered what he was doing at that moment, the look on his face if he could see the images we were seeing, how he would feel knowing that at least for that moment, they were safe. And then I broke my own heart knowing that he would never be able to give his little girl a bath before bed 🥺

As I mentioned in the previous post (Part 4), the 'Burial and Prayer' portion of this song seamlessly transforms into its own beautiful melody which is blended with an overlay of the 'Absolution' theme that was heard in 4x08 and 4x10

Of the four notes in each measure, it's most noticeably the second note that is lower than the corresponding note from the melody of the 'Burial and Prayer' theme. I want to share something about your Kvitravn story, which I absolutely adore.

I've noticed striking similarities between Dabi and Ivar - they share a lot of common traits. My heartfelt hope is that Dabi's journey doesn't mirror the fate of the Boneless 🥺

Both experienced abuse and neglect, independently ascending the ladder of success without assistance. Their journeys were marked by ruthlessness and exceptional intelligence. Additionally, they both bear the weight of disabilities — Ivar with his crippling condition, and Dabi scarred by tar. It's a poignant parallel that adds a unique beauty to their stories. I'm in love 💕

Indeed, when crafting the story, my initial vision for Dabi was to echo elements of Ivar —being underestimated, subjected to mistreatment, cast as the "dark character" within the story, only to gradually unveil a redemptive goodness. This deliberate role reversal is evident in Kvitravn, where Shoto assumes the role of the unequivocally malevolent character, as you may have noticed.

My admiration for the intricacies of Ivar's character, as you're aware, inspired a similar desire for complexity in Dabi's portrayal. I aimed to transcend the surface of his gruff personality and unconventional appearance, firmly believing that Dabi encompasses depths far beyond these external facets.

While I can't divulge the details just yet, I can promise you it will be a conclusion that no one could possibly foresee. Anticipate a twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end! 😈

The members of ATEEZ have been called intimidating and even scary at times. With how intense they are on stage, they can seem a bit frightening at first, but once you get to know them, you’ll quickly realize that all of the members are sweet, kind-hearted guys who are just passionate about performing their all.

San, as a member of the so-called “demon line” of ATEEZ, can seem among the most intimidating members of the group at first glance. However, he really is anything but, and he’s arguably one of the softest and most romantic of ATEEZ’s members!

And it turns out there’s a reason why he’s such a romantic at heart. Recently while messaging fans, he revealed some of the heartwarming details of how his parents met, and why they had such a profound impact on how he views love.

He shared that before his parents met, they actually dreamed about each other. Then, one day when his mom visited a bakery, she saw San’s father, the man that was in her dream. I hope you finished First Love!!! I just rewatched a little bit of the heartwarming parts a couple nights ago. And I hope you finished Kimi ni Todoke!!! That one was great, too.

My rave recommendations for jdramas that I watched last year on Netflix are also:

Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san / The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House - I looooooooooved the characters!!!! Precious!!!!!!! Precious babies!!!! an absolutely beautiful drama with Kyoto 💖💖💖 as the setting. A coming-of-age story!!!!!

Ikebukuro West Gate Park - This drama is from like, 1999/2000 and, you can feel it. It's a CLASSIC in jdramas, and I'm so glad I finally got to watch it. The filming artistry is awesome in a totally different way from First Love and Kimi ni Todoke. While First Love and Kimi ni Todoke have like, a sweeping, panoramic artistry.... IWGP is like getting a magnifying glass on one quirky neighborhood 💯 The characters are lovable in their own very imperfect ways. This is a mystery, suspenseful drama, so totally different from the others.

Kimi no Hana ni Naru / I Will Be Your Bloom - Admittedly, the acting and storyline is not as amazing as the other dramas, but this one is FUN. It's about an idol group struggling to find success post-debut. A coming-of-age/romance drama. The songs are great!!!

The next jdrama I want to watch on Netflix is Orange Days. A part of me is also interested in watching Burn the House Down.

I am just a Din Djarin loving loser with an internet connection and far too much time on my hands but it's really nice to hear that you'd like to get to know me better!

4. mythical creature you think/believe is real?

I've got to go with Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. I believe in my heart she is. I remember seeing a film when I was a kid about her being real and idk she seems friend-shaped even if she'd probably rip my head off without a second thought.

11. anything from your childhood you've held onto?

Trauma Nooo seriously: physically I think a lot of books and a fridge magnet collection I started back then. But intangibly: my love for Star Wars, playing musical instruments and a passion for writing and reading that have never truly left, even if they were dormant for a few years while I was at University.

13. first thing you're doing in the purge?

Too much of a coward to do anything really bad or violent, so I'd drive myself (well I don't have my license yet so that would already be one crime... but I think I could manage it hahah) to the nearest toy shop and clean it out of Lego. It's so expensive and there are so many nice sets I'll never own so that would solve that problem.

22. do you have an emotional support water bottle? (and my fave drink)

I do! It's actually a Mando one hahah it's this one I got from Primark and I love it. As for fave drink: it is 100% iced coffee. I don't drink alcohol anymore but tbh I haven't saved that much money since I gave up because of my slight iced coffee addiction.

27. what's your favorite or go-to outfit?

I definitely chose comfort over style. Usually just dress in jeans and a nerdy t-shirt with a comfortable sweater or hoodie on top. And always a pair of Dr. Martens! Comfiest shoes ever when you get past the blisters. I've never been one for fashion really but as long as colours don't clash, I don't care!

28. last meal on earth?

Ooh good question! So, so many foods I love but if I had to pick the last thing i could ever eat, I'd definitely go for a Korean barbecue. Such a good meal and the whole experience with a group of friends is the best.

What’s your favorite music genre? Perhaps you have a favorite artist?

Honestly the basic answer but I'll listen to pretty much anything. My top genres according to spotify wrapped last year were: pop, rock, modern rock, pov: indie (what) and soft rock so make of that what you will! My top artist was Taylor Swift last year and I love her but I have so many other artists I adore too! The other top 5 were blink-182, Lana Del Rey, Coldplay and The 1975 so that gives you some idea of what I'm into hehe. I'm so bad at describing my own music taste but it's sort of middle-aged dad core (also love Arcade Fire, The Stone Roses, Fleetwood Mac and Queen) plus Taylor Swift and Lana. AND 80s CHEESE LIKE ABBA!! Can't forget the cheese.

How did you get into writing??

I've always loved writing and done little bits here and there, but never had much confidence in myself until I did NaNoWriMo for the first time in 2020. I've completed it three times since then but it was really a combination of watching Mando s3 again and reading a book called Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell which I picked up for cheap in a charity shop last summer that made me think.... hey I could write fanfiction! And here we are! I love doing it. It's done so much good for my mental health and allowed me to chat to so many lovely people like you! I'm very grateful to have discovered writing when I did. Not sure where I'd be without it tbh!
