It's like that time some author got investigated by the military. He saw the public floor plan for a boat but the rest of the floor plan was confidential. He then thought about it for a while & figured out the most efficient floorplan for a boat like that. The military said "how did you know our floor plan?" & he said "this is the best way to build a boat, of course you would make it like this". These things have the same end goal & so since they are both going for the best path to achieve that goal, they end up with the same (or similar) technology.

Yeah YOU shut off communications. Nausea & a rash, not coughing like that... & like, would it really be that short of a time to take effect? idk. If it is that fast to take effect & it is that deadly, then it really should not be classified as "it won't kill you" babes. Then again, the spy had to wear stuff like that, he was probably not up there for long. I was under the assumption that it would be painful & nauseating & annoying (even if you only come into contact with it once) but it wouldn't kill you, even if you're in the atmosphere for hours, for days even. Maybe you would get a rash in your lungs & die like that. I just think it's kind of unrealistic to say it's non-lethal & then switch to it's lethal. Give them a bit more time. Define long-term. Say maybe "it is harmful but not deadly, at least in the short term, but if we're exposed continually for more than maybe ten hours it could lead to severe damage, & if we're too nauseous to get up & get help we could be exposed for more than 24 hours, which could potentially cause (harm that leads to) death."

Since it’s the end of June (which means it’s the end of the first half of 2019… where did time go…), I made a list of what I thought the 10 best kpop girl group title tracks of 2019 were, so far. I made that post a couple days ago, but I’m not sure I stand by it all the way. If we’re talking about what the 10 best songs have been so far, there’s a lot more than 10 that I really like a lot. But I feel like… some of them… even though I like them, I’m not sure they’re really “top 10″ worthy, you know? I feel like the group or artist in question will put out something better later in the year, or maybe like that song is good in the context of right now, but as more things come out it’ll fall in the rankings.

So I’m changing my approach. Rather than a list of 10 songs… here are a handful of songs that I feel really stand out. Not just the best of the first 6 months… but the ones that have the most potential to remain in the top 10 by the end of the year. These are the songs that will stand as some of the crowning achievements of the year.

Weki Meki - Picky Picky

This is the best song of the year so far, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up in the top 3 of the year overall, or even still number 1. It’s catchy as hell, it’s got a lot of attitude, it’s got trademark Weki Meki weirdness… especially in that strange hollow-sounding synth at the beginning of the song and throughout. The hook of “like it, don’t like it, love it, don’t want it, weki, meki, i’m so, picky” will be stuck in your head for weeks. I don’t have a ton more to say about it, because in my opinion, everything good about it is so self explanatory lol. One listen should tell you exactly why it’s so good. If you aren’t into it, that’s fine, but god… I sure as hell am.

Loona - Butterfly

What can I say about Butterfly that hasn’t already been said? It’s beautiful, it’s powerful, it’s ethereal, it’s artistic and artful and totally unique. I don’t think many Loona fans consider it their best song, but that’s only because Loona has some amazing songs haha. By any metric though, this is a huge achievement for them. The aesthetic of the song and especially of the video and choreography is so… it’s hard to even find the right words to describe it. Important? Legendary? Awe-inspiring? Again, I don’t have a ton to say about this song here, because like… most of my followers are orbits so you already know and feel similarly to me, and also like… god I feel like I’ve already made tons of posts about all of Loona’s songs before haha. So yeah, like, if you haven’t heard this song, what the hell are you doing lol

Dreamcatcher - Piri

This group has such a unique style for Kpop that I’m sure even if you don’t listen to them, you’ve probably at least heard of the group that incorporates rock music into their sound. If you’ve heard a little more about them, you might have heard that they have some of the most intense choreographies of any girl group, and this song is certainly no different. I’m not sure which Dreamcatcher choreo really is my favorite… but my gut is saying that it might be this one. As for the song though, it’s not the most “rock/metal” they’ve ever done, that would be last fall’s “What”. But this marks the end of an era for them, and possibly the beginning of a new one. It’s hard to say for sure yet, all they’ve said is that the “nightmare series” is over, and they’re going to embark on something new next. We don’t know what that entails lol. But looking at this song as a transition point, it’s really kind of amazing. It’s got that rock flavor for sure, but it also has some electronic elements, like even a little bit of trap inspired elements. It goes hard as hell too, and the motif with the flute (a piri is a traditional Korean flute instrument btw) really makes this song feel iconic.

Eyedi - & New

Not many people have heard of Eyedi, and that’s such a huge shame. She’s not exactly an “idol”, in fact she says she prefers to be known as a musician or artist instead of as an idol, so she doesn’t really partake in all the same Kpop promotions as other soloists… so I understand why she doesn’t have the same notoriety. She was however a contestant on Mixnine under her real name (Nam Yujin), where she got 5th place for the female trainees, and would have made the debuting group if the female trainees debuted (to be fair, the male trainees didn’t get to debut either, because fuck YG). She’s friends with Heejin and Hyunjin from Loona, Siyeon from Dreamcatcher, and probably lots of other people from that show. So… it’s a shame that she isn’t as popular as she should be. Because...... to talk about her music and this song now, she’s just something really special for Kpop.

Her style is inspired by modern electronic music styles that have a retro flavor, like synthwave. This song, & New, feels like a whole dreamscape, you could get lost in this song and just drift away forever. She sings most of her songs in falsetto (or just a really high voice… idk much about singing lol) but she always picks really satisfying melodies. Just when you think a part is gonna resolve in a really standard way for Kpop, she finishes the line with a melody that just feels really satisfying and comfortable. This isn’t the most groundbreaking song on this list, but I’ve fallen so deeply in love with it in just a matter of days… this wasn’t even on my initial top 10 list a couple days ago because I didn’t know it existed until later that night. That’s how quickly it’s taken over my life. Please listen to Eyedi, you won’t regret it.

CLC - No

I’m not sure where to begin with this song, lol. I’m so intimidated by its aura, in the best possible way. For a song that goes “hard as fuck” and is a “bad bitch anthem”, it’s really minimalist lol. It’s not fast like Hobgoblin was, instead it’s actually rather slow. Its slowness gives it a huge amount of force though, it’s one of the heaviest kpop songs I’ve heard haha. It’s not metal, not even close haha, but this song is proof that dance music can be just as hulking and beefy. At first the song can be kind of underwhelming, because rather than having a drop, it actually does the exact opposite…. in the spot where it would normally have a drop or dance break, it removes basically everything but the lowest bit of the bass, the choreo leaves a wide space where Yeeun stands and looks you square in the face, she slowly walks towards you, repeating the theme of “something? No”. It gives me goosebumps every time lol. It really fits the song better than a drop or dance break would, I think, because it’s the kind of denial that the song is built around lol. It’s like they’re saying “oh, you want something from us? fuck you”. Which is, of course, what the song is basically about in the first place lol. This song leaves such an impression on you.

I do wanna say though, this song was written by (g)i-dle’s Soyeon, and I’ve listened to some of their songs and my biggest criticism is that they don’t seem to go anywhere sometimes, they never really build to much, though they’re cool vibes sometimes. I’m choosing to interpret her work on this song as good instead of interpreting it as another song that doesn’t have a climax lol… maybe it’s just that the CLC members are an enormous part of why this song works haha, they sell it really well.

REDiversary In Review❗

Happy REDiversary

As you may know, 7 years ago, this magnificent creation came into existence…

I have to admit, when this era first started, I didn’t know what to think. With **WANEGBT **coming out which had a very different vibe from the Speak Now era, I wasn’t sure what to expect. This was the most mainstream pop thing I’d ever heard Taylor do. I wasn’t really against that sound, I just wasn’t used to Taylor’s music having so many “top 40 anthem” vibes even though Mine was very clearly a multi-format bop.

After **Begin Again **came out I felt a lot better about what was to come around the corner. This song gave me all of those warm and fuzzy feelings that Taylor has always been so good at bringing to the surface.

I was also in a very bad time in my life. Earlier that year in June, I went through a really bad breakup. The kind of breakup that hits you from your blind spot. The kind of breakup where you think things are going great and then you find out they were thinking of cheating on you and have been unhappy for the entire time and then the night before exam week, she ends it in a text with no remorse. It was extra impact because this was my first serious relationship and I honestly never pictured it ending… if you catch my drift.

Anyways, for months I was in a bad way with a short fuse and WANEGBT just ended up making me more depressed because it reminded me of how she was probably thinking about me right now just like Taylor was speaking in her words (this girl was also a Swiftie btw). That made me feel hopeless in many respects and is one of the other reasons why I was unsure about this era. But I always have faith in Taylor no matter what so I kept my mind alive and my ear to the wall anyway.

Then… Begin Again came out and I felt a glimmer of hope like the sun coming out after a hurricane. Suddenly I was excited about this era again and it did not let me down.

RED pulled me out of that hole that I feared might become my grave…

I remember putting it on, on release day on my headphones hiding away from my family, just me, Tay and some headphones.

She had me at the very first song. State of Grace feels like one of the most magical, ethereal and underappreciated songs from that record and I think it should have been a single. Every time I listen to State of Grace I have like an out of body experience and I can just close my eyes and she takes me back in time to a world in my life that was just happy and innocent. I truly love this song.

Next to that I loved the concept of** Red**. The whole synesthetic concept of assigning colors to different types of love and emotions is both a genius concept for a song and a genius concept for an album. I loved the intimacy of Treacherous and once again the concept is so relatable. As much as I didn’t like the pop vibes at first… **IKYWT **is totally a bop and I love it.

Then I came across All To Well. I just burst into tears for this entire song. It really felt like the closure I needed. Was it really closure? No I guess not. But just knowing that someone else knows what this feels like and also that someone else was able to describe what I felt – the most visceral emotion – and put it into words that just seemed so perfect to describe this horrible impact I felt… that was all the closure I needed.

22, again… such a bop and maybe even my favorite bop from Red as far as party songs go.** I Almost Do** is such a beautiful country ballad. The glam and delicateness of this song really just leaves me feeling so… comfortable. I have to admit even **WANEGBT **after a while kinda grew on me, it’s definitely an ear worm.

Stay Stay Stay is adorable as hell and always brings a smile to my face. The Last Time has a very emotional feel with some CRAZY Snow Patrol vibes (for obvious reasons). Side note, I love the collabs on this album the most I think of any collabs she’s done (other than maybe Babe). Holy Ground is SUCH A BANGER!! I like the energy in the live performance a bit more. I feel like Nathan missed the energy a bit in the production on this one but that’s just me being fussy. I still love the album version a lot tho.

Sad Beautiful Tragic always brings me to tears. It reminds me of how good love can feel but also that Love has hurt me more in my life than it has made me feel good. To this day it makes me remember relationships and love interests passed and I tend to reminisce a bit. Its like the best and worst home movie playing back in my mind at the same time. The Lucky One is everything. Again, lovely falsetto from her at the beginning and super tight pop prod here. This makes me think of my worst middle school days and loneliness. I don’t feel those things when I listen to this but it makes me think of those feelings and memories.

Everything Has Changed is the song that CHANGED EVERYTHING!!! TO DATE is my fav Ed Sheeran song lol. I do like a lot of stuff with Ed but something about how their stories intertwine in this song and how the sonic signatures of their vocals mesh so well I think is just magical. Starlight has some mad pop vibes, a very unique intro. Not a huge fan of the feel in verse one. I thought it was a bit weak going into it out of the intro but that’s more of a Dann and Nathan thing than a Tay thing. Once the song gets going it’s great but it’s just that awkward first verse kickoff. And then of course there is Begin Again which is also one of my favorite songs off the album and I think an AWESOME way to end the standard album.

Deluxe: The Moment I Knew is such an ANTHEM. It is both epic and bombastically “plane going down” vibes all at the same time. I love the use of Cello. I find it really augments the horrible feeling. I find I can actually picture her or myself in this situation feeling this way at an event and that is the real magic of this song. I feel like I’m actually there.** Come Back Be Here** is so real and raw. I saw this song live at the repTour and somehow… that was everything. GAH has again very lite pop vibes and I like the message of the song a lot. I love the two demos and how they really help to illustrate the songwriting and production process. I remember as an aspiring record producer I analyzed the hell out of those two demos and the album versions haha. **SOG **Acoustic left me feeling relaxed and… inspired (more on that later).

All in all, this album made me feel like a weight had been lifted off my shoulder. Like I was emerging from a car wreck without a scratch. I felt like I had been kicked down on the gravel road and Taylor reached out her hand to my skinned palms to pull me up. I will always cherish this album and the light that it brought me when I really needed it.

Welp, that’s a wrap. It is now once again time for hiatus. Yellow continues to be my favorite diamond after Pink; I really hope they all come visit Steven and learn stuff. I’m actually very surprised that they jumped ship so easily; it seems that they might understand that what they do is wrong but they do it anyway cause that’s what��s expected of them. Seems they were suffering a lot more than I thought, and I already thought they were hurting quite a bit.

And that brings me to the biggest question I have. Much like Blue and Yellow, White was acting as if someone told her to do this; it’s like she’s a rogue AI who’s original creators are long gone. I don’t know if I wanna see what White’s afraid of, cause up until the last 10 minutes or so of this ep she was the scariest thing I’d ever seen.

I am not korean haha, but music is about more than understanding. It is about the feelings it vibes you get from it and the moods it puts you in. People love screamo music even though it is hard to understand, and music like instrumentals and dubstep heavy are just… what the music makes you feel. I listen to ‘normal’ pop, kpop, instrumentals, artists like grimes that mumble their songs a lot with production heavy stuff. I think that as long as the music is something you enjoy, you shouldn’t be judged for liking it. I know you aren’t trying to be rude with this ask so don’t think I am attacking you please! I am just trying to give you some insight into why different music interests people :)

I came, I saw, I (little bit) konquered 💪

First of all: apologies for this mega massive post! 😂

But I wanted to fit everything in one, so that´s the way it has to be!

Big thanks to lovely Stockholm for being a very gracious host and taking such good care of this world-weary traveler! Let´s start off with some general sights before getting down to the nasty business of Mars!

I have to say that seeing those posters for the 1st time in the flesh made me quite giddy indeed...

BUT NOW! On to the main event...

The M&G took place a few hours before the show, and arrangements were top grade, gotta give props when props are due!

These two ladies were really lovely and seemed like PROS at what they do and yet POLITE towards us even tho this was probably the 3000th M&G they were handling. I have no complaints!

We were escorted to a small meeting room type of area right next door to the stage area, and at first I figured I wasn´t even gonna bother fighting the hoards for the 1st row seats, but then I heard Reni saying there was one spot left - and I leaped into action.

At the M&G room Reni explained the rules and game plan for the evening. No personal/private questions, no simple yes/no questions, no groping during the pics, no running to the concert area (there were near-catastrophic incidents in Prague some days ago, some girls ran like cray and tripped and fell and created a domino effect and it was a mess...) and so on. 🙄

Reni asked us who has listened to the album (most raised their hands) and who has not listened to the album (me and few others raised ours... Hihi...), and what people´s fave songs were.

Then we got back to talking about the potential questions again, and she encouraged people to ask about the new album (*COUGH* REMEMBER THIS LATER AS YOU READ ON *COUGH*), or if you want advice etc.

Not that I cared much anyway, but seeing as she did not seem to touch upon “that topic” at all, I decided to try my luck and asked:

“What about the “elephant in the room”?” 🐘

The room fell silent and there were some dramatic “Oooooooh´s” coming from my fellow VIP peeps.

Reni´s face went serious and she quietly said “No”, as was fully expected.

I pressed on.

“How come?”

Reni: “Because we would rather... It´s a personal matter. Of the band.”

Me: “So we´re never gonna get any explanation?”

Reni: “It´s a personal matter... And until he doesn´t decide... It´s not in our...”

I´m totally not the only one who reads that to mean that IT WAS TOMO´S OWN DECISION TO WALK AND IT´LL BE HIS DECISION IF/WHEN HE COMES BACK, right?! And that the band has no say in it, and they have no clue if and when the situation gets resolved?! Right?!

UGH! 😠

Then Reni went on to explain that if someone was there specifically to meet TM, they could get a refund but they would have to leave immediately.

Total bs “offer” because there ain´t NO ONE coming to these things just to meet TM, but whatever... I did contemplate if I should ask for a partial refund because I only got partial Mars, but chose to let it slide. Not even worth it.

One guy in the audience commented “Good question”, so I guess I wasn´t alone with my queries! It may have been Gustavo, I dunno.

Before the band came in, people kept busy by asking the crew a few questions.

And at this point I would like to offer a MEA CULPA and sincere apologies to the person/persons who I battled with some weeks ago when Reni´s home land was a topic. See, as luck would have it, one of the VIPs asked the staff where they were from, and Reni said “I´M ORIGINALLY FROM MEXICO”, so yeah... Haha! I giggled quite a lot... Sorry, anon/anons! I was indeed wrong! Shayla said she´s from NYC, Inaki also from Mexico and Diana (I think that was her name...?) from Brazil.

Shayla mentioned that she is kinda jetlagged. Reni said she´s usually pretty good with it.

Then they plugged Camp Mars (a few people had no idea what Camp Mars even is...) and lured us to buy with big promises of hangings with the band during the most magical weekend of the year.

“The band is also there all day.”

Reni also inquired if people would be interested in attending Camp if they by some miracle happened to arrange it in Europe. Most people were eager, no surprises there.

Someone asked if Camp could be arranged earlier in the summer, and Reni said no because the Malibu Camp site is occupado until August.

Another one asked if Camp is getting bigger, to which Reni replied that “It´s getting better. I would not say it´s getting bigger because the number of people for the past 2 times has been exactly the same, which is 200.”

So there we have it. An official number.

Well, as official as these people are ever gonna admit, anyway... 🤷

Then we voted for our fave songs from the new album. “GWO” won.

(I voted Tabasco. 🤗)

Someone wanted to know if they were gonna play “GWO”, and Shayla said nope because they have not rehearsed it.

Of course not! 🤷

Then we swiftly moved on to the “Kumbaya” moment of the evening where Reni asked if someone knows how to sing, and some dude said yeah, so he came up front and started singing WoW.

Now this is just my opinion, but sitting there listening to an almost Sunday church-like hysterical pathos... Worshipers partying and yelling out the lyrics as if God himself was within hearing distance...

I did not know I needed that in my life. 😱

Then Reni we needed to “make some noise so they´ll come faster”.

Is... is that what VK does too? 🤔

I dunno, but we did.

It did not help. 😴

To kill even more time, we did the obligatory “Where is everyone from?” round. I stayed silent. Surprisingly it seemed like almost half of the peeps were non-Swedes! The woman next to me was also from Finland. Wooooop!

Someone asked if the band is gonna do festivals, and Reni listed some upcoming dates. I don´t know why people don´t GO ONLINE to find out this stuff, but... 🤷

The crew also mentioned they have days off on occasion, Helsinki was mentioned as one of their days off, which kinda maybe means that the band will be arriving tomorrow and hanging for a whole day before the gig on Wednesday... Uuuuuuh!

Then all of a sudden...

DOORS FLUNG OPEN AND ANGELS SANG PRAISES! 🎺

Well no, it was just echies screaming and clapping. 🙏

JL and SL sneaked in from the stage area and the masses of course went bananas.

I still sat in silence and watched. 👀

The bros had a table and chairs, but never sat down. Instead they stood and placed one foot ON THE CHAIR, as all civilized peeps do.

JL asked if anyone was at the previous gig, and mentioned that it has been a really small show, but this one would be the smallest (arena holds max 3500 people). Last night apparently was “INCREDIBLE”, one of the better shows on the tour.

For some reason (pffft...) he spotted some German chicks who I guess were twins or smthg, I wasn´t really paying attention. Anyway, he mentioned “We always need more twins in our lives”.

Echies naturally giggled because OMGGGGGGGG HILAAAARIOUS, and JL went on to explain that “Hey our grandfather had a twin”.

SL quipped that maybe he or JL will have twins, and JL mentioned that he and JR argued about the twin gene skipping a generation or smthg like that. 🙄🙄

Then he spotted some chick in the front row who had big muscles (no she did not btw) and asked her if she´s a trainer or smthg. JL mentioned that he just recently started working out again so he keeps looking at muscles.

Uh huh. 🙄🙄🙄

On/off SL gave looks around the room, and I got some too. He did not smile, not even a crack. Meh.

THEN IT WAS FINALLY Q AND A TIME!!! 🙏 😈

Some dude asked how hard it is to get a workout on the road.

SL said the recovery is the most challenging part. I guess he meant recovery from the shows.

JL says the 2 hours on stage are the hardest, and then the rest of the time should be spent by doing nothing.

That last part might be more familiar to some in the band than others... 🤔

Some woman from Ohio, USA was picked and I guess she yammered on about herself a bit too long because JL interrupted her speech with a very stern “QUESTION!” (we all know that tone... Hihi!), and she asked if there were any “Aha!” moments when making the album.

I suppose she did not mean “Aha! We totes should wrap this whole shit in Americana even tho it has fuck all to do with it!”...

SL said the 1st thing that comes to mind is “Rescue Me”. Apparently they´ve had that song for 10 years and have had people help them work on it (WHOOOO?!), and the last person they worked on it with caused them to have an “Aha!” moment when they realized they were actually going to finish it.

I´m sure we all share that amazement...

JL said he remembered sitting down during TIW in his home in Fredonia (his old home) with a synthesizer and the verse and the chorus are still the same. Lyrics have changed. The chorus used to just be “Rescue me, rescue me” without anything else, and 5 years later he was sitting on a plane and the current chorus started forming in his head. The song used to have a “pre-chorus” too. “He said” or “She said” (I could not make out which, or maybe both) before the main chorus.

He said the lesson in that is to never give up because you never know what can happen. Sometimes songs happen quickly, like “A Modern Myth” which he said he wrote in 5 minutes, and SL wrote “Remedy” fairly quickly. Finishing songs usually takes him longer than coming up with a song.

Next guy asked about creative differences between Album 1 and Album 5.

JL said you can still hear the same band on both albums.

(GIVE OR TAKE A FEW BAND MEMBERS, MAYBE... 🙄)

He listed all the elements the new album features. He said he thinks a song like “Echelon” could totally be on the new album.

Next up a woman who said she was studying to be in the music business asked what she could do to make sure no other artist has to deal with what Mars had to deal with (lawsuit etc.).

JL´s advise: Don´t sign a record deal unless you absolutely have to. Spread your music via social media and other platforms.

(I know he was talking about EMI specifically, but I could not help thinking there might have been some Interscope crumbs in there too...)

The woman clarified that she meant more from the music label/business side and not the artist side. Jl responded “Go work for Spotify”. He went on to say that record companies and people can be great too, but the deals are the problem. They should be transparent and available online. It´s the last kind of “gangsta business” where you can really take advantage of people.

Some dude mentioned that he saw Mars 11 years ago when they opened for Linkin Park in Europe. JL remembered that tour, SL did not.

I guess he asked what it feels like to go from there to here (I wasn´t really listening because meeeeeh), and SL tried to come up with smthg intellectual and deep but it just sounded so ridiculously pathetic it´s not even worth mentioning. Smthg about just living and maturing and evolving as human beings. 💤

He also said they are really fortunate to still be together as a band (*SNORT*) because lots of bands from back then don´t exist anymore.

JL said this feels like a new and fresh chapter. Like his inner child. Like a reboot. Like they just got a facelift (HOLD YOUR LAUGHS, PLEASE). The new songs live are apparently “pretty INCREDIBLE”.

“I know some people are like “Where´s the guitar?” and “Where the heavy music?” but I think it´s still pure 30 StM.”

He also called the new album very dark and “lyrically on point”.

His point might be somewhere waaaaaay off the playing field tho, but...

Some chick with pink hair was up next and JL said he was gonna dye his hair pink but now he can´t.

SL said dyeing wrecks your hair and JL said his hair can´t take another bleaching.

And yes, you guessed it, folks. Fangirl giggles and swoons galore!

Her actual question was about Mars music feeling ancient or smthg, again I was totally not even paying attention because I DON´T CAAAAARE. Sorry but these questions were fucking USELESS. 👎

Anyway, SL blabbered on about them being from an “old place”. JL said everyone has missed the point that they made the album by using modern American sounds like Hip Hop and Pop etc. and that WoW is a giant political FUCK YOU.

Except not too long ago he gave that interview to a Finnish journo and specifically banned political questions, but okay... 👌

He said it´s exciting to see people from different countries singing that song with so much passion that sometimes he almost feels like they need to escape through the back door (he was kidding).

Next that same guy who sang during the pre-M&G stood up and congratulated the band on the new album. JL in return congratulated the guy on his hair (= a poofed up semi-mullet kinda thing) and they chatted a bit about his hair. Soooo riveting... 😫

The dude said one of his fave songs is “Convergence” and he asked about spirituality or smthg. Again, not interested...

JL said the last album was only 7 songs and the rest were fillers (well he didn´t say fillers but I´m saying it), and this new one is 11 songs and only 1 filler.

While JL was still yammering on his response to the mullet dude, I made my move and raised my hand HIIIIIGH - and when he finally finished his looooong sermon JL turned my way and...

Oh uh! It's Go time! 😱

⚠️ Little background info first! ⚠️

I obviously had thought of a few questions before coming to the M&G, just to prepare for the off-chance an opportunity might present itself. My options ranged from "Why did you call us Screaming Fat Girls?" to "Why did I have to pay 400 for this when 20 yo models get it for free?" and beyond. Yes I even toyed with the idea of sneakily slipping VK into the mix... 🙃

But sitting there as the M&G went on and listening to the other questions and studying the room's vibe, I started feeling my questions were all... wrong. They started feeling like I would just be purposely asking for trouble and causing a stink and potentially ruining the event, which was not my intention at all.

I started feeling like I needed to ask smthg current, smthg that has relevance in this day and age, smthg that hopefully gave us some answers to the questions we have been pondering about on the blog, smthg that would make you peeps proud, smthg that would not be a waste of a question - and yes, smthg that maybe poked a little hole into his massive ego at the same time! 🤔

So with all that criteria in mind, I went into battle...

Me: "Hi, speaking of the album, have you read or heard the reviews? Because some of them were... not very kind...?

JL: "This newest album?"

(NO DUMMY I WANNA KNOW IF YOU READ THE REVIEWS FOR THE ALBUM YOU RELEASED IN 2002!!! 🙄🤦‍♀️)

Me: "Yeah."

JL, staring right at me, with the snarkiest and bitchiest voice and most passivest aggressivest demeanor:

"Well thanks for bringing that up."

😱😱😱

His reaction both in words and in vibe (and the reaction from the room aka loud gasps, few hisses and cheers after he "lashed out" at me) was worth all the money I paid for that M&G, I don't even mind telling you!

SL also chimed in with “Yeah, thanks for bringing that up” but at that moment I was so focused on JL´s face that I completely ignored SL´s whining and existence - not to mention that every single molecule inside me screamed “HALLELUJAAAAAAAAH!”

So yeah basically I just sat there going...

While he stared at me throughout that little exchange, he most def could sense the snark in my question, and I most def could sense the snark in his reply. Naaaw... Just a couple of petty snarks sharing a moment... 🤣🙊😍

Anyway, the room kinda “erupted” with little gasps and hollers and whatnot, and after that initial "explosion" SL took over and started "grilling me" about my choice of question.

"That's your question? You wanna know if we read and what´s our response to the bad reviews?"

I replied “Yeah, I wanna know”.

SL said he had not read any.

Okay, but... Why did you just jump on my throat about that topic then...?

He continued that everyone has opinions and tastes and attitudes and personalities and colors (???) and stuff... He said he can´t pay attention to it, he can only focus on what he did and the band did, and he feels great about it. He said he is secure in himself and his “bro”, as he called JL.

Then JL took over and in a very explanatory manner (calm voice this time) said that these days everyone is a critic. He said on social media any person´s opinion is as important as a reviewer´s. He also said he thinks a lot of the criticism revolves around the “Where is the rock?” argument, and that they are probably right.

“It´s not a rock album.”

Followed by a LOOOOONG silence.

A silence which was only interrupted by SL going “Well, there you go!” in a triumphant manner. Echies of course applauded, and then suddenly JL picked up again:

“Don´t be fooled, we knew EXACTLY what we were doing. But let me just tell you something: we have NEVER gotten good reviews. Even when we made rock albums. So... Nothing really changes...”

At this point it again felt like he was getting ready to move on, but NO! He still kept going!

“I have a feeling lot of it has to do with me...”

That Gustavo dude piped up with “Jealousy...”, but JL ignored that comment and continued:

“It just has to do with me being in the band... I don´t think people wanna let that slide...”

SL commented “Fucking weird...” and then after a short silence went “Great” in the most “NON GREAT” way imaginable. Kinda like when you spill juice all over yourself and go ��Great”.

So with that “NON GREAT” “GREAT”, this topic was now finished and my time in the spotlight was over.

I will point out that while pretty much everyone who asked a question before me got a “Thanks for the question” comment, I did not...

BEFORE WE MOVE ON - QUICK ANALYSIS ON MY Q AND HIS A:

I think what we learned here are 3 things:

1. Poor SL really thinks he contributed to this album and has reason to be proud. 🤷‍♀️

2. JL is indeed VERY aware of the bad reviews and backlash his latest offering brought him. 😭

3. JL is also aware of the "bad rep" he has. Not just for the "Oh he's an actor trying to be a singer" thing which he has battled since Day 1 (which I'm sure he was mostly alluding to), but also that currently (= after SS) he gets ridiculed and judged on a whole new level.

I mean, the way he almost dragged the topic on and felt like he had to add “just one more thing”... Kinda felt like he was trying to convince not just us but himself as well... 🤨

Anyway, feel free to send feedback and thoughts on this! Did I do good?! 😜

Okay back to the M&G!

The next person asked what would they say to their younger selves.

JL wouldn’t wanna say anything because “We’re in a pretty good place right now in life and career… I guess I’d say "Take a deep breath… It’s gonna be alright. Don’t pay attention to the reviews.”“

Ooooooh... Still feeling butt-hurt from the previous Q, are we… ? 😏🤭

The next Q was asked with such a heavy-accented English I had NO IDEA what he asked, but apparently JL did because he managed an answer. It was smthg about the Mars symbols (the triad). 🤷🏼‍♀️

The next chick started off my saying "I just wanna say I love you and adore you” and I almost yelped out “MR. KAUFMAN IS ALREADY TAKEN!” but managed to keep my emotions in check.

Her question was a pretty good one: “Why did you come up with the name "Monolith” for the tour", she said she (like all of us!) did not get it.

JL said the name comes from the giant screen on stage and the giant box thing as well, which of course for this tour they could not fit through the doors.

Next question was “Why did you call the album "America” when it talks about universal issues?“

JL: "I think the idea of America is universal (FUCK OFF ALREADY DICK IT SO IS NOT) and everyone has an opinion (WANNA KNOW MINE?) and the songs are universal. I think what’s going on in our country is probably going on in other countries. I don’t think we’re the only country thinking about things like immigration, the right and the left, what kind of a world we want to live in, what kind of a future we want. I just thought it was an interesting time and an interesting word. It really isn’t political title, it’s more of a concept (🙄🙄🙄), that’s why I liked all the lists that we came up with because they were so bizarre and funny and provocative. They do give you a sense of the time we’re living in.”

He went on to say that in 100 years people will be able to look at them and go “Oh, that was that crazy group if people that was alive between this time and that time and that fucking guy was president in America!”

Oh my! Look who’s getting all feisty again! Dare you to say that publicly tho!

During this question the noise from the soundcheck taking place in the next room went up a few notches and Stevie´s high-pitched screams almost overpowered the Letos... They made some jokes about SA´s screams. 😂

And of course he kept with the “The name “America” inspired the film that we made that´s coming out later this year, the trip across the country... Did anybody follow it on social media? (I MAY HAVE...) The Museum of America in LA and many other things that we´ve done. I dunno, I just thought it was an interesting container.”

In relation to the previous question, JL also mentioned that he had an alternative title for "America" which he admitted (?) he sometimes thinks he should have used:

“ERA”.

As in this era we are now living in.

YOU GOD DAMN DILL!!!!! THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN 40 GAZILLION TIMES BETTER THAN "AMERICA"!!!!!

I seriously almost screamed out loud when he said that... I can't even deal with him! 😠

He said that title would have been “a little more global but a little more boring”.

NO, DILL! YOU AND YOUR BEDWARMERS ARE GLOBAL AND BORING! THAT TITLE WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT!

The last question came from a woman next to me (fellow Finn btw! 😃🇫🇮) who told us that she's a teacher and she asked what inspires them etc.

JL said that “sometimes I´m not inspired” (REALLY? Never would have guessed...) and that “at that point you just have to rely on muscle memory and to just put one foot in front of the other and keep marching forward... Someone asks a question you don´t like (WHO?! WHO ASKED A QUESTION YOU DID NOT LIKE?! 🙊), you deal with it... You have to do some part of your job that´s tedious (like... the actual working part?), you push past it... I think a lot of times it´s just showing up... You can surprise yourself. You start a conversation, you start a concert, and before you know it you´re lost in the concert and you´re enjoying your time.”

SL said what helps is “getting rid of the fucking trash in the head. If I feel distracted or there´s a lot of stuff going on in my head that doesn´t have anything to do with what I wanna do, I have to get rid of it. Meditation helps, hanging out with cool people (LOOOOOOOOL), yoga, taking a walk...”

And that was it! Show over! JL thanked us for coming and then...

We lined up in the hallway and practically RAN through the stage they had set up for the pic.

Seriously it was RIDICULOUS! Felt even faster and more North Korean than in Getafe! We all legit had no more than 2 seconds to pose and then we were pushed out! 😑

Total bs. No other way to put it. Treated like actual cattle. 🐄

Anyway, I had a plan ready again and as I stepped up to SL who kinda "yanked me" between him and JL (not in a bad way but just kinda like "let's just get this over with FAST"), I said to them:

"Okay guys, let's smile like I'm a model."

🤭🤭🤭

Now, I don't know if they heard me or bothered listening (or in "someone's" case even understood what I was hinting at), but it def made me feel giggly... 😜

Anyway, end result is this:

I think JL may have gotten what I was implying, or perhaps he was still salty about my earlier question, but he def pushed my back to get me to leave the area after the pic. 🤷🏼‍♀️👉🚪

Altho he probs does that to everyone, especially those who are not 20-smthg Russian models, but… Oh well. Kinda made me smirk even more! 🤣

Or perhaps it was my shirt which ruffled his feathers? 🤔

After the pics we were given our VIP merch: black beanie (not bad! I might actually wear that…), plastic badge (who the fuck needs these?!), a canvas tote bag (meh ok) and a signed poster.

TRY TELLING ME BOTH THOSE SIGNATURES ARE NOT FROM THE SAME DAMN ALMOST-WORN-OUT PEN… 😂😒🖋

We were also allowed to stay in the M&G room and check out the official merch stand (pffffft! Did not buy a fucking thing as everything looked so uggo).

This tho...

After about an hour of waiting, we were finally led into the actual concert area. As some of you saw from my IG posts, this was not a regular MonolOth tour gig, but more a club gig. The set was completely different, no monolOth anywhere, and stage was not in the middle of the room.

I noticed there was a balcony area too and I marched up to a security guy to ask if it was ok to go up. He said yeah but only 100 people are allowed up so I needed a special ticket, which he then handed me and told me I needed to give it back if/when I came down again so someone else could use my place up there. Very smart security move!

Being as tiny as I am and as claustrophobic as I am, I knew standing in a sea of people and not even seeing a fucking thing was not a viable option, so I chose to wander up to the balcony - and oh man, that was the best decision I could have made! I scored a prime spot right up front and had full “skyview” of the whole room! Lucky move also because without the balcony spot, that IG Live would have been quite difficult to pull off…😏😄

JR’s DJ set was about as useful as sledgehammer when washing windows, so there’s no need to even discuss it. Literally maybe 7 people actually listened and cheered him. 😴

At around 8:40 pm the lights FINALLY dimmed and the show started.

Now, seeing as I did an IG Live for the whole show which means I did not take any pics or clips (I´ll try posting some of the clips I saved from the IG Live a little later on tho), I’m going to utilize a few fellow concert goers offerings here for vibe and atmosphere reasons! 😉

As far as overall grade for the show goes…

Well, the people who came on my Live on/off and witnessed the gig with me can probably kinda agree that… eh… It wasn’t very awesomely great. 😣

The stage looked stupid with just SL’s drums, SA was once again shoved to the side where we could barely see him (but could hear him plenty!), the sound overall was kinda off (or maybe it was because of my location, but the drums sounded REALLY loud at times, almost drowned out rest of the instruments. Altho… what instruments? 🤔)…

But the biggest problem of all: Jared’s voice.

It’s fucking DESTROYED, guys. GONE.

Yes on some songs he sounded ok, even quite good on occasion. But overall, he cannot do a full show like a proper rock singer should.

And true to form, he skipped out on a lot of the lyrics (either he let SA sing, or the audience had to sing), and when he did sing (“sing”) he sounded BAD. Multiple times extremely off key and basically just shouted/screamed his way through the songs. There is no way on earth that anyone with ears could claim he sounded good!

Sheep would try no doubt, but lemme tell ya: Lies! Lies, lies, lies!

I think the only song which sounded at least half decent was “Stay”. It’s not a very challenging song anyway, so that one he still manages ok. Everything else… uh. 🙉

I did enjoy JL calling me and my fellow upstairs residents “BALCONY MONKEY MOTHERFUCKERS” tho. 🐒

Overall I would say that had I not had the IG Live peeps keeping me company throughout the show, I would have been majorly bored. There really was nothing even remotely interesting happening on stage (not counting Naked Dancing Dude!), and traveling across an actual ocean just for that show...

Not really worth it, gotta say.

If someone asks me if I would recommend buying a ticket, I would have to say no - based on the actual show, I mean. it just really does not offer any great “WOW” moments.

But on a personal level and by taking into account the WHOLE experience, counting the entire weekend etc., I will rank this as one of my better vacays for sure! And a big part of that is thanks to ALL YOU who joined and shared it with me, so THANK YOU! 💗

Love and Thanks

Sorry, just have to start with that I have “I Was Born in a Laundromat” by Camper Van Beethoven in my head. I never imported all of my cd collection, but I thought Spotify would satisfy. BUT NO! Oh the trials of loving the semi-esoteric music of the 80s and 90s. Ah well. I’ll go back to listening to Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty on repeat (Dude, that song is fucking epic!).

So I haven’t felt too compelled to write lately. I’ve been having some crazy professional woes (take your pick…my actual job, my work with CLA, teaching). I can’t say that that is neither here nor there, because it is. But I think I’ve turned a corner. I’m feeling more determined to do the best with what I have. And what do I have? SO FUCKING MUCH.

If you’ve been reading this regularly, haha, you’ll know I said goodbye to my amazing cat Jack several months ago. In a lovely turn of events, I saw Anna (the amazing library assistant I got to work with temporarily) at a staff meeting and she had a totally unexpected present for me. Her ridiculously talented son, Eliott (that’s right, with two ts and don’t you forget it!) drew this portrait of me and Jack in memoriam because she asked him to. Yes, I cried. What a thoughtful and unprovoked gesture. Um, BTW...Anna could you please please adjust your life to be my assistant?! We could take this island by storm! FOR REALS.

And also. I have never been a children’s librarian. Or in this case, a tween librarian. But you know what? I LOVE my tweens. And I get this in return:

Please do take a moment to make that picture bigger. I am not boasting. I am appreciating. Sometimes the good stuff you put out in the world comes back. In spades. I get so much love every day from these kids. May I never ever take it for granted.

So, life has been throwing me a lot of, well, what’s another word for challenges? That’s the politick way to say it. In truth it’s just a bunch of fucked up shit. And you know what? I have no poker face amidst these...challenges. I was REALLY having a day last Saturday. I am what I call an automatic crier. That means I cannot hold back when the tears come, and they are usually because I am frustrated and/or angry. My sad is a whole different thing. Anywho, I was out and about that Saturday during my lunch hour sans poker face, and people noticed.

I got back to work, lunch in hand (from one of my faves, Cafe Metropole!), and found this note in my to go box. People talked lots of shit about small town life before I moved here, but I have to say, the sense of community is wonderful.

And while I am trying to be thankful, it is useful to try to see my life through the view of others. This is the view from my deck:

When people see that, they say “You are living the life!” Which is true, in many respects. Would that I didn’t have so many feelings about so many things. But I will totally concede: It’s so beautiful here. You fuckers (and I mean YOU) should visit me.

And finally. The deserved star of many a tumblr, my girl. If I were thankful for nothing else (even though I am!), I’d be thankful for my Hope:

This beautiful cat lived in the Catalina Humane Society shelter for 3 years. I am not thinking about that. I am thinking about how much love and thanks I have to give.

#33: Season 1, Episode 11 - “Secrets and Spies”

To destress from her busy schedule, Ren takes up a secret gig performing ABBA karaoke at local Japanese restaurant. She’s super sneaky about it and Louis is determined to figure out what she's up to.

The opening shot of this episode is Ren in her room rearranging her ridiculous schedule, showing us that she’s absolutely swamped. Eileen comes waltzing in and oddly knocks after the door is already open. I just randomly noticed that. Like, give the girl some privacy. She’s all excited to tell Ren that Councilman Mackenzie (whoever that is) is looking for a new intern and that he’s expecting her call. Ren CLEARLY does not want to do this and even tells Eileen that her schedule is too busy. One look at her calendar cork board would make anybody be like “Guuuurl, you’re only giving yourself an hour and a half each week for relaxation time?! You’re 14!” Instead, Eileen looks at her schedule and says “No, honey. Look! You have Tuesday, 4:30 to 6 available!!” Seriously, Eileen?

Ren is spending Wednesday at 5pm reading to the blind. Give her a break.

As soon as Eileen leaves, Ren walks into her closet and screams at the top of her lungs. Except, it’s obviously a stock audio clip of a horror scream. Louis overhears and it’s the first clue to the budding mystery.

At dinner, Ren is curiously missing. We see that the Stevens are doing some “International Delicacy du Jour” where each family member chooses a meal from a different country to eat or something. I don’t know. Steve cooked a traditional Vietnamese meal, and I swear, the way he pronounces the dishes would never fly today. He’s like, “You already have your pho-taaaaaaiiiiii!” in the most mock Asian sounding accent ever, oh my god. He goes on to say “bon appetit” in Vietnamese, which also sounds terrible. He also cooked sticky rice and there’s a gag where the rice is, well... too sticky. None of them can get it off of their utensils. Ren comes running in late and clearly lies about meeting with the councilman. When asked, she tells them that she got the internship. That is, until Louis notices a yellow feather tucked into Ren’s shirt and makes a scene about it. She immediately deflects from that and brings up some ceramic cat that Louis broke to change the subject. Huummm...

Later that night while walking through the hall, Louis happens to overhear Ren talking on the phone in Japanese. He goes barging in “Hey, Stoolie! Why ya speakin’ in Japanese?” which is honestly so funny. It’s the way Shia says it, omg. He’s officially convinced that Ren is hiding something at this point. He has a meeting with Twitty to try and break down the evidence so far and we get a pretty memorable bit. Twitty’s reasoning is simply “Well, she’s a girl and girls do weird things. HEY! That’s a great song title. *proceeds to sing/play ‘girls do weird things’ on guitar*) This is a great scene so I’m just gonna embed it. There is one issue I’ll mention: there’s an awful overdub here. Listen to when Louis says “little miss perfect.” The audio was so obviously recorded at a different time, his lips don’t match, and he didn’t even bother to speak with an appropriate inflection so it would sound better in context. It makes me wonder what line they had him say originally...

“Get out... Get out of my house” was always one of my favorite lines lol.

We move on to the tiniest, most insignificant subplot EVER. Donnie is struggling with Trigonometry, (a subject I literally never studied in high school... is that bad?), so he gets an online tutor named Russell. The guy is a total nerd apparently and wants Donnie to help him out with the ladies. They meet up in person, and the tutor ends up being a little kid. That’s literally it. The plot never goes anywhere else. That’s it. There is a good line here, though. Russell is all “Let’s go meet girls!” and Donnie’s like “Look, kid. The only place I’m taking you is to a moon bounce.” I love this.

The next day at school, some random chick tells Louis to thank Ren for referring her to the Councilman and that she got the internship... not Ren. The plot thickens. We get a montage of Louis spying on Ren all day, even hiding in a darn mailbox, until he follows her all the way to Tokyo Rick’s -- a super random Japanese restaurant. Louis is beyond confused, that is.. until a man comes on stage and says “Up next on the mic, we have the vocal stylings of... Isis.” And we get the big reveal: Ren in a 70s style wig singing “Dancing Queen” by ABBA.

Can we talk about that fact that Ren’s stage name is freaking ISIS though?! Isis?! Really, Disney? This is honestly Illuminati territory for me. Although, Isis is also an Egyptian goddess, which is probably where they got the name from. But, still. It’s a little disturbing in hindsight to think that Ren’s alias went on to be the name of a terrorist organization. Yikes. Christy is a fine singer, but this is unfortunately not her finest performance. To be fair, she was like.. 15 or 16 here. I definitely look back at my own performances at that age sometimes and.... yeah. Not the greatest. This is another memorable scene though and deserves to be uploaded to YouTube, so... I uploaded it:

Now that Louis knows her secret, he decides to torture her with his knowledge of the situation. We get another montage of him sneakily posting Tokyo Rick’s karaoke fliers all over school, and Ren subsequently removing them. He also drops yellow feathers on her, and even sends a message for Ren to report to room 109, where he has the school band playing “Dancing Queen” (terribly.) I love this part. This is another thing that counts as music humor for me, which y’all know I’m a giant sucker for. The band is just so bad. It sounds as if every band member is on life support and being forced to perform on the verge of their last breath. They literally sound like they’re dying. Just think of the 20th Century Fox sax, trumpet, and recorder fails for an idea of what it sounds like... and times that by 10. Louis is conducting them and shouts “Javier!! That’s your cue!” which is absolutely hilarious to me. Sometimes, it’s the smallest details of this show that kill me the most. Ren walks in and Louis casually says “Isis!” When Ren asks “What did you call me?!” he responds with “I said ‘Hi, sis!’” Perfect.

Ren pushes Louis out of the room and into the hallway to scream at him and it quickly turns from a scene I absolutely love to a scene that crushes my soul. Ren gets so fed up and screams “Do you think you’re funny?! I don’t. Nobody does! In fact, we all feel sorry for you because we’re out living busy, productive lives and you have... ugh, I don’t know... NOTHING! So just BACK OFF, Nothing Boy!” - The “nothing boy” remark was always a little cringy to me. Not the greatest insult, but it’s just so sad. She kinda hit Louis everywhere it hurts the most. He’s always struggled with feeling like he has nothing special or unique about him in comparison to everyone else. The one thing he does have is comedy, and she says he sucks at that too. Dang. He just stands there and sadly takes the beating. I’m upset.

Louis takes ~the gloves are coming off~ approach and suggests that the family should go to Tokyo Rick’s as his pick for the International Delicacy thing to reveal Ren’s secret to their parents. But later on, Ren genuinely apologizes to Louis. She admits to being a little jealous that she can’t seem to relax and have fun the way he does -- so she decided to sing karaoke as a way to let off steam. It’s actually really sweet. I love whenever we get nice sibling moments between them.

I will say, there’s a funny bit where some random kid is using the water fountain near them -- he’s sort of eavesdropping so Louis BARKS at him to make him go away. Oh my god. It’s one of those out of left field moments that help make this show great. I wonder if this was an ad-lib...? If it was, I love Shia even more and I didn’t think that was possible.

Is it just me or does the kid look EXACTLY like Coach Tugnut? I’ma bout to ask Jim Wise on Twitter if he’s related to him...

EDIT: I asked. I was right. (tweet)

EDIT EDIT: I was not right. Turns out Jim was pulling my leg??? haha. We cleared this up in our interview with him. So embarrassing.

Louis accepts Ren’s apology, but it’s too late. Ma and pops are already at the restaurant. Oh, boy.

Louis obviously feels bad at this point. When he gets to the restaurant, he does everything in his power to distract Steve and Eileen from seeing Ren on stage... but fails. They’re shocked to see her. Ren was singing “Dancing Queen” again btw (is that the only song she knows, orrrr?) and her outfit got an upgrade.

Ren apologizes again and explains the whole situation to their parents. They’re surprisingly understanding! They agree that everyone should have some crazy fun every once in a while. The episode ends with Steve wearing Ren’s wig and the whole family singing “I’ve Got The Music In Me.” It’s hysterical. And ironic, because none of them have the music in them. Especially Louis. Seeing him dance and sing is truly the 8th wonder of the world. What goes through Shia’s mind while he’s playing this character? I want to know.

How does this kid go on to be a drummer? Explain.

And that’s it! Like the majority of Season 1 episodes, this one is a little slow paced.. but it works here. It’s part of the charm of the first season. I love it. I originally had this ranked towards the “worst” half of the list, but upon re-watching I found a lot of things to like about it. Between Twitty’s awful hit single, the terrible school band, Ren’s performance and the family sing-a-long.. what’s not to love?! It’s a bit of a rollercoaster between Louis and Ren but ultimately turns out fine, which always feels like a well deserved and happy conclusion. I also like how this episode isn’t necessarily a Ren plot or a Louis plot, it’s blended and I love when they’re able to do that and have it flow so well. Also, if you’ve never seen the episode before.. it’s sort of a genuine mystery leading up to the reveal. It’s actually difficult to figure out what Ren’s been doing. It’s a pretty solid episode, imo. But, not the greatest.

I was born into a family of dancers, my mother & father, grandparents, aunts and uncles. So i danced for 6 or 7 years and than stopped due to school problems. 3. I study languages at the moment, English and Spanish (i never wanted to regret something in my life, but i do regret not choosing Chinese :/) 4. I tend to space out a lot, not only sometimes in conversations but also when i listen to music in public and walk on the streets. It can be dangerous sometimes with me xDD 5. I’m a really carefree and kind person, i hate negativity. That’s why I make compromises a lot, because i’m against fighting. Wlog for the BTS London concert on the 10th💓

Just so I don't forget, I’d like to write down how I felt b4, during and after the BTS concert on the 10th💜

I remember it wasn't a chill day at all, and I went to tutorials and lectures in the first half of the day. Can't say that I'm extremely excited cuz I was never really hyped for anything. It's not because I didn't like BTS enough, it's the fear of expecting too much and end up getting disappointed somehow. Well, I guess I was wrong and I could have looked forward to it even more xd

I went back home after the computational lecture ended, then packed up my stuff (which was partly packed the nite b4) as quickly as I could. When I thought everything was settled, I realised that my parcel has arrived and I haven't printed my ticket yet. Everything was done in a hurry, and I left home at 2:05 for a 2:15 train.

On the train, I was still kinda calm and had a look thru my notes from class. Then I spent the rest of the time sleeping and imaging how would I feel when I actually meet them at the concert. Would it feel like how it was in my dream? Or would it be something completely different?

I arrived at London and google mapped how should I get to O2 arena cuz hahah I had no idea. Everything went by smoothly and I even managed to follow someone with a "jungkook 98" shirt when I sort of got lost hahaha.

I took pictures of boards that were at the station and made a call to see where Joey is. Joey was already queuing. Lol up till this point, I kinda hoped that I've vlog-ed this. Its gonna be so much fun going back and rewatching everything. Anyways, Joey introduced me to her friends and we went on talking about what we could do inside. She prepared everything for me - like the lightstick, batteries, telling me they wouldn't really go thru my stuff hence its ok if I had a lot of stuff with me lolz

We finally got in and we went up to get some drinks (which I didn't). I said bye to Joey (cuz we sit in different areas) and went to the toilet to change into a black T-shirt I got from Korea (haha I know its an unnecessary fact).

Then, finally, I entered the arena and managed to find my seat. Sadly, on my seat, there's this girl that wanted to sit with her fd and would trade for a seat that's much further away from the stage (honestly wtf). I insisted that I'd like to keep my seat and eventually she gave in.

I then had conversations with her fd (ie the person next to me now) and she went on about how she coped with their concert yesterday at the pit. She seemed to be a really old fan and had went to a lot of the functions in the past. I don't entirely agree but I said nothing hahah (I mean whats the point in arguing - its not like Im gonna see her after this).

The fans were really hyped and they sang fanchants in every MV that came up at the arena. Love to see how the staffs' expressions are hahah - they'd be like wtf BTS is not even here what are u guys on about? Hahah bro I feel u I felt the exact same thing xd

Finally it hit 8pm and the concert is about to start. They came out after a series of promo vids and after a marvellous stage arrangement. It was really hyped and it really lits up your mood. Just imagine someone really calm like me (ie calm during clubbings and all) getting really hyped and stuff hahah~

I was really worried that I could bearly see Jungkook cuz he got injured and might stay at the main stage. BUTTT he actually brought his chair to the extended stage and sat at my side of the stage!!! Don't get me wrong, but I might have saw him better just cuz he was sitting the whole time xd

It's that feeling when something that's on ur screen, on your wall or even in ur dreams (but is somehow non existing in ur life) suddenly was in front of you. I guess I was just 20 steps away from them if there were a platform from my seat to the extended stage. It was so close and you could see their facial expression so clearly. Even tho I couldn't make a heart or anything (cuz its embarrassing), or even get eye contacts, its still like a dream come true.

I could see their little interactions right in front of my eyes, and hear their voices live. All of the members did a magnificent job and I honestly fell in love with every one of their performances. If I did said anything about having a bias and all, its really nothing like that anymore. I like every member and they are all so good looking (omg Jin is sosososososososo handsome I cannot).

Standing for a total of 2 hours but it felt like 15 mins. Every song sounded so much more better live, and seeing them dancing so so close to you. It's a moment when you feel they are actual human beings - not cartoon, not animations.

Jimin's performance actually did hit me - he was so attractive omg!! He also so cute when he looked around to try to interact with any fans that tries to catch his attention!

Jhope, Suga and Rapmon's performances were so lit!! Even tho they were never my favourite, they look so much more better in person!

Jungkook got injuried, so he sat down on a chair the whole time. But his voice was so angelic - and hahah I caught that moment when he forgot to sing a line - cuteeee. His interaction with his hyungs were also adorable - I love how they involved him even tho he couldn't dance, and he also tried to join in the dance even on the chair xdd - the thing is, he is a little conserved and he do not have actual interaction with any of the fans - but that's him and it isn't necessarily a good or bad thing. (btw JK look exactly like in photos and videos and thank god he decided to sit at my side of the stage on the day of my concert)

Jin, as what I've said, is so attractive omg!! He is THE VISUAL - no doubt - he is stunning in person!!

V has his own charm as usual. He also looks exactly the same in phots and vids - and I caught the cute moment when he smiled at JK and start dancing his part hahah he also got "shot" by a fan's heart (I believe) and pretended that he got shot on stage - hahahah so freakin cute

They all had really natural expressions during performances - and you couldn't imagine how could a person look so good in any angle and at any moment - its almost like calculated moves - and they are photogenic at every point of their performances -

What I had to do is to pick out moments that my camera didn't went out of focus or pointing at a wrong angle - they look fab in every single moment - no joke

Ok so the conclusion is I was totally enjoying every moment and did not felt bored at any point of the concert - like not even slightly

I only wish time went by slower cuz I couldn't grasp all the moments that I'd like to record on my phone or to be aware of

So I could tell Jungkook was a bit depressed in general but at least he didn't cry like how he did in the last concert - I really feel bad for him and thank god he didn't perform - I have a feeling I'm gonna be even more depressed cuz I'll miss his performance the most hahah

Anyways then the concert ended and I asked every possible person to send me their vids. But honestly the ending was so sad. I actually felt like crying, but I didn't cuz I stopped myself from anticipating the concert too much in the first place, and therefore the contrast wasn't as great.

Joey was really really depressed and I totally get it. Never thought you'd feel so at lost after you went to a concert you love. Its that feeling that "yeah they're right in front of you but now we had to take that back". Its really hopeless and you suddenly realised they are really superstars.

Its not like I wasn't aware of that fact that they are actual stars, but this reality hit you really hard when youre in a concert. There were so many armys and they wouldn't even know that you've existed. Its sad that they were so close and now you've understood that they are not your fds (even tho they seem like it in vids) but actual stars that are so out of reach. The contrast of being so hyped then falling back down to the bottom of the valley (hhaha its so different to the feeling of riding a roller coaster when going down is the best part).

I love you BTS❤ even tho you'd never know our existence. They are truly remarkable and loved by so many.

So moving on from this sad topic (XD), I met joey on the next day and convinced her to take a pic of me at an enormous wall with a print of BTS poster. I was kinda shy and couldn't really take a good pic until after a couple shots. We then had flat iron and it was a great restaurant - would really want to go again! We then attempt to take pretentious shots (which joey succeeded, and I hahah obviously failed) and had desserts. We then left to catch the train - but Joey lost her Oyster card:( She said something weird would always happen when shes with me ahahha I wonder why xd

Yah so this was my marvellous bday gift - cant explain everything in short sentences, but I was so submerged into bts music right after the concert. You could literally think of nothing, do nothing, but listen to their music and rewatch the videos. I really want to keep the solid memory of the experience I've had at the concert - and pls don't forget it!!

PS I really owe joey a lot cuz she persuaded and helped me to get the ticket. She got a JK fan for me, knowing I'll regret for sure! She knew me too well and at some point in life we do have to live like a teenager when we are teenagers rt? xd

Add-on: OMG so V went to flat iron too - honestly, how could they just walk into a restaurant w/o getting a room or anything, literally, just a table in which anyone could have sat on and anyone could have bumped into them. Sadly he didn’t go to the restaurant I went nor the time I went (I believe) but still happy cuz we had the same food ahahaha

but here's an update: my roommate is pretty cool but she likes to stay in our room a lot & facetime her bf so it's kinda hard to hang with her like she's allllways on her phone😬 but the girl next door to me is totally awesome and fun😍(she's sadie & erin & aaron's friend) i love her and we've been hangin with these 4 boys that are SO FUNNY!! i'll send u a low quality pic i have😂 but yeah so we had classes today and tbh it's really hard to feel the spirit because the speakers are trying a lil too hard to be funny😐 like last year had waaay better speakers so far. but yeah i feel like i'm having a fun time this year! i'm so happy that i made a lot of friends😊😊 OMG KENZ these two guy friends really like me and it's OBVIOUS (but like they know i have a boyfriend) there names are jake & coleman... jake LITERALLY looks like jake moberly like NO JOKE😂😂 and coleman is actually pretty cute! he is totally flirting & he is super nice & always wants to sit by me & he gives super good hugs😅😅😅😅😅 ahhhhhhhhh i don't know what to do i mean mom just told me to have fun & live in the moment😂 but anyways the dance was BOMB😏 and we got to watch fireworks so i was happy😁 (and coleman sat reaaaal close to me lol) but i'm having the best time :) and i'm pumped for game day tomorrow!! AW LEX. I'm so happy you're making friends and that they're easy to get along with! And oh my gosh I'm stoked that the boys like you AND arhat they're cute. They look tall too!!! Like wayyy better than what we were put with last year. Not that you should be focusing on the boys but I'm sure it feels nice to have flirty connections here and there ;) Stinks that the spirit isn't super strong. And that your roommate is always on her phone. Maybe you should talk to her about it ?¿ who's the girl next door what's her name? Ugh I'm so excited for you and it makes me crazy jealous that I'm not there experiencing it all with you like I cried today when I was watching your story! I love you so much and can't wait to hear your voice and give you the biggest hug!!!! Are you doing the music group thing like we did last year? I honestly felt the spirit the strongest this trip in the yw session today! it was so awesome & really helped me! then we had breakfast & lunch & during free time our cute little company played on the sand volleyball courts in our dresses & suits😂😂 it was so much fun and a lot of the boys were very impressed with me hahahah so woo hoo! then we watched the variety show which had so many singers😐(there was only one SUPER good girl that was actually on the voice once) but yeah then we all hung out together at our spot and just played a bunch of games, the boys danced for us since they didn't make the variety show, we talked, listened to music😍 wow like it was just so great mom we all bonded so well & last year i wasn't able to be so close with the people in my company but this year we all just get along & have such a good time! i love it😊 then we had dinner & went to the fireside/heard the choir sing! then the testimony meeting...i am so upset because right when it started i got this super bad stomach ache where it just felt super empty & it was HARDCORE grumbling.. i kid u not it grumbled like 30+ times during that meeting😩 it made me so mad because i was like focused on not letting my stomach growl & i barely could pay attention😢 ALSO i was sitting next to only coleman and was on the end so he kept looking over at me and i was so embarrassed but he kept saying like "it's okay don't worry about it" but i was still embarrassed😂😭😭 it was THE worst! anyways then COLEMAN asked to escort me (for like the 15th time😏) to our rooms and when we got there our counselor told the boys to give the girls a hug & a compliment😂... so coleman gave me a hug & was like "you look AMAZING tonight" hehe it was cute. and then when we had devotional i was given the chance to bare my testimony so i was super thankful😊 and i'm pumped/sad that it's our last day tomorrow!! I'm glad you had a good day. Thanks for giving me the updates. I miss you so much and I'm so proud of you for putting yourself out there. I'm so glad that your Heavenly Father is aware of you and what you needed. Even if your tummy growled it's okay😂. I'm a super proud mom. Remember to keep living in the moment, but also remember that you do have life and reality here at home. You are committed to someone. So don't get to caught up in your one week life...but still have fun. Soak up all of your last day. Remember that I love you more than I can say and I miss you so so much!❤️
