Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week.

The Energy Department announced its pausing all new liquefied natural gas export facilities. This puts a pause on export terminal in Louisiana which would have been the nation's largest to date. The Department will use the pause to study the climate impact of LNG exports. Environmentalists cheer this as a major win they have long pushed for.

The Transportation Department announced 5 billion dollars for new infrastructure projects. The big ticket item is 1 billion dollars to replace the 60 year old Blatnik Bridge between Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota which has been dangerous failing since 2017. Other projects include $600 million to replace the 1-5 bridge between Vancouver, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, $427 million for the first offshore wind terminal on the West Coast, $372 million to replace the 90 year old Sagamore Bridge that connects Cape Cod to the mainland,$300 million for the Port of New Orleans, and $142 million to fix the I-376 corridor in Pittsburgh.

the White House Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access announced new guidance that requires insurance companies must cover contraceptive medications under the Affordable Care Act. The Biden Administration also took actions to make sure contraceptive medications would be covered under Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and Federal Employee Health Benefits Program. HHS has launched a program to educate all patients about their rights to emergency abortion medical care under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. This week marks 1 year since President Biden signed a Presidential Memorandum seeking to protect medication abortion and all federal agencies have reported on progress implementing it.

A deal between Democrats and Republicans to restore the expand the Child Tax Credit cleared its first step in Congress by being voted out of the House Ways and Means Committee. The Child Tax Credit would affect 16 million kids in the first year and lift 400,000 out of poverty. The Deal also includes an expansion of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit which will lead to 200,000 new low income rental units being built, and also tax relief to people affected by natural disasters

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted for a bill to allow President Biden to seize $5 billion in Russian central bank assets. Biden froze the assets at the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, but under this new bill could distribute these funds to Ukraine, Republican Rand Paul was the only vote against.

The Senate passed the "Train More Nurses Act" seeking to address the critical national shortage of nurses. It aims to increase pathways for LPNs to become RNs as well as a review of all nursing programs nationally to see where improvements can be made

3 more Biden Judges were confirmed, bring the total number of Judges appointed by President Biden to 171. For the first time in history the majority of federal judge nominees have not been white men. Biden has also appointed Public Defenders and civil rights attorneys breaking the model of corporate lawyers usually appointed to life time federal judgeships

Do you ever think about the parallels between Rinne and Aira

Not only they have a shared interest in protecting Hiiro and ensuring his well-being/growth as a person, (and it's extra interesting given how Aira sort of dislikes Rinne for how he dealt with Hiiro in general—by leaving him alone at their hometown and disowning him in the summer of the MDM—, so even though they have the same interests and goals regarding Hiiro, they aren't exactly friends nor like each other — though this is mostly from Aira's part, because Rinne does like Aira and even acknowledges him as someone important to Hiiro that he must keep in his life), but Aira kinda is what Rinne used to be, before his dreams of becoming an idol we're crushed by the new rules of ES.

!! Main Story, Episode 171, "Revolution"

I've seen many people talk about how Rinne and Aira would get along because they're both idol otakus, but I believe that's a common misunderstanding of Rinne's character, because Rinne isn't an idol otaku (at least not anymore). He doesn't like the current idol system and the way Ensemble Square is running the industry. That's why he tried to change it by force in the !! Main Story by acting out. This is different from Aira, who loves the idols born from this system, and is a participant in the ES system that is going to hurt the industry in the long run (because ES is mass producing idols like a factory, stripping them from their own individuality and what makes idols especial in the first place — which is why Aira likes idols to begin with! Because they're different from ordinary people!)

!! Main Story, episode 220, "Despair"

Aira is aware that the idol industry isn't perfect, in episode 171 he even acknowledges that the mass production of idols similar to items of consumption made in a factory is wrong and it strips idols from their beauty and value, but he doesn't have the insight and first hand experience with heartbreak as Rinne had, so he doesn't have the motivation to protest or change the way ES is running the industry. They both love idols and dreamed of becoming one, but Rinne isn't an idol otaku, because he can't be a fan of idols mass produced by the current system.

What Rinne does instead, is support underground idols that would otherwise be trampled or forced to disappear by ES because they don't fit their sets of standards (and because ES has monopoly in the idol industry, they can easily do this without much repercussions or public outcry) and gives them his protection. This is explained throughout the course of the story of Night Club.

Nigh Club, Epilogue 2

Aira tries to impersonate an ideal idol persona, as the ones he watched when he was younger. He wants to embody a model idol and inspire others as idols inspired him in the past. Rinne used to be similar, but ES arbitrarily destroyed his solo career making him lose that dream, and that's why he embodies the wild and rebellious persona he portrays on stage, which is a complete opposite to how a traditional idol should act (and this is a constant point of conflict between him and other idols, such as Himeru; Himeru tends to scold Rinne for being so wild and doing whatever he wants because it goes against what is expected of an idol, but in Night Club he comes to understand that this is Rinne's soft way to protest against ES, despite having lost to them in the first part of the !! Main Story).

(Sometimes, I wonder if Rinne is happy being the wild and playful self he is with Crazy:B, or if he would prefer to be on stage as an ideal idol like he used to do years ago....)

However, despite their differences and the dislike/intimidation Aira might feel towards Rinne, he admits he understands his feelings and where he comes from, and that he can't help but to relate to him due to the fact that they both love idols. Aira scolds Rinne in episode 220 "Despair" to make him stop his pity party, but later in episode 224 "Flutter" he comforts and encourages him instead—telling him that he should not give up being an idol, because he recognizes that Rinne loves idols as much as he does, and that he still has a reason to live because he has fans of himself and of Crazy:B waiting for him among the crowd, meaning that he is still loved and accepted by someone, despite all the wreckage he had caused.

(And if I'm allowed to get personal for a moment, I just need to make emphasis in how important Aira is to the development of the Amagi brothers in the last arc of the !! main story, and this scene is a perfect example of that. Aira is the one who encourages Rinne to join the others on stage and sing, and after that it is Hiiro that pushes Rinne to give that step which finally leads them to perform on stage together 🥹)

So as we can see, Rinne and Aira have a lot of similarities, but they act in completely different ways due to their circumstances. They have similar backgrounds as idol lovers but they have different views and feelings about the industry and the profession, (however, they seem to share the same ideals as to what an idol should be, and love the same type of ideal idol inside their hearts). Adding to that their shared most beloved person, Hiiro, and how the two of them want what's best for him but they have a point of contention due to Rinne's bad actions in the !! Main Story, and their relationship becomes x10 more interesting, and I wish we talked about it more!

And we know Happyele hasn't forgotten about them, because Aira appeared in Rinne's recent relationship chart, just below Hiiro.

(also, a little unrelated, bu i think it's funny that despite having a heart to heart at the ending of the main story, their relationship is still "want to tease him" and "he's a little scary" ahdks Aira, who scolded Rinne in front of hundreds of people in the MDM, regressed to feeling intimidated and troubled by him. A couple of friends commented that it was probably because Aira had a burst of courage in the MDM because of the severity of the situation, so he had the determination to call out Rinne, a senior that he particularly feels intimidated by, publicly without second thought. It is canon that after the fact, Aira admitted that looking back on the MDM he felt embarrassed for doing such a bold thing. Idk, it's just something i find very interesting and fun about their dynamic www)

So this leads me to believe that they haven't forgotten about the history these two had in the main story, and all I can do is just wait for them to expand on their relationship and dynamic more eventually in some future event.

because i am a huge nerd, i decided to calculate how many eye combinations you can make with the @pralinesims DIeYe kit + addons. feel free to point out any mistakes as i don't have a lot of experience with this type of calculation!

firstly, i'll consider only the base kit, without the addons. luckily for me, pralinesims listed how many swatches are available for each item, which makes my life a lot easier! (full credits to them for the image below!! taken from this post)

now that i know how many swatches each item has, i need to know how many items i can have on a sim simultaneously and which ones conflict with each other. in the basic kit, all of the items can be used at once, which makes up a total of 11 items - the main color, available as either face paint or non-default eyes, and 11 other assets, available as tattoos.

some important things to consider: the 3 catchlight packs are 3 different items with 100 swatches each, and these 3 items can be used all at once; in order to consider the absence of certain items also a possibility, i will be adding +1 to the number of swatches of each item. this means that the result i get in the end will include combinations that lack most of the items which technically doesn't make an entire eye, but i will still account for for the sake of knowing how many combinations you can make in total. (one of the combinations that will be counted is the one that doesn't have any items at all, so feel free to subtract 1 from the final result.)

if i'm not mistaken, it should be as easy as multiplying each number of swatches: 71*101*101*101*91*121*121*121*41*36*41 = 713658080539339171236. which is a HUGE number. but what about the addons?

once again, pralinesims made my task a lot easier by listing how many swatches each item has: "This addon pack includes…

3 new secondary eye color packs, all come in the DIY 120 base colors.

3 new third eye color packs, all come in the 120 colors too.

New catchlights in 60 versions.

New pupils in 100 versions." (taken from this post)

BUT some of the new items can't be used at the same time as some items from the base kit. in order to avoid my results including false possibilities, i'll consider the new items as "extra swatches" for the items they conflict with. for example: the pupils in the addons occupy the same "slot" as the pupils in the basic kit (upper right arm tattoo). so, i'll be adding 100 (from the number of swatches of the addon pupils) to the 71 i already had from the pupils in the basic kit, for a total of 171 pupil swatches. if i do this for every item that conflicts (other than the pupils), i obtain: - 360 addon second eye colors, for a total of 481; - 360 addon third eye colors, for a total of 481; - 60 addon catchlights swatches, which conflict with one of the base catchlight packs, so we can consider one of the packs as having 161 swatches. now to multiply everything! 171*161*101*101*91*121*481*481*41*36*41 = 43296407611943775605316. if anyone has any idea how the hell these numbers are pronounced, please tell me, i'd love to know!

i sincerely hope there are no mistakes in this. i double checked everything, but like i said i don't have a lot of experience, so there's a good chance i got something wrong. if you read all of this, thank you, but also, sorry.

MCC has added a monument to Techno in the MCC lobby!

Techno’s plan for the Dream SMP was to have his main character “Technoblade” go off on a training arc while he plays a new character named “Cyberknife” who loves government in the new world of the Dream SMP that can be accessed via the special portal. He was going to involve as many smaller creators on the Dream SMP as he could and the Syndicate minus Techno would investigate this new character for anarchy related reasons!

Some updates

- Techno will be receiving the Courage Award from the Sarcoma Foundation of America in September for his dedication to the cause. You can read about it here.

- A Mojang Community Manager on reddit has confirmed that Mojang is thinking of ways to honour Techno, but without any details as to how they will be doing so. Link to their reddit comment.

- Techno’s channel hit 12 million subscribers on YouTube! That means he’s overtaken Tommy again.

- Phil has built a monument to Techno in his hardcore world. It consists of a diamond sword rammed into an island, with Techno’s cape hung from the hilt. A Friendship Emerald hangs from one side of the sword’s hand guard. Techno’s crown sits around where the sword meets the earth, with Phil having tried to replicate the scuffedness of the gems as best he could. A trident named “Technoblade Never Dies” is hung in an item frame on the crown. There is a bell on an emerald block and 2 pigs tethered next to the monument.

i never realized it until now but don't you think mahiru and kotoko complement eachother quite nicely?

mahiru:

which is interesting isn't it? though their personalities are very different from one another, they're quite like two sides of the same coin in terms of character design. this intrigues me because it brings attention to a fascinating aspect about them, namely, their divergent views on femininity.

femininity is something mahiru actively pursues as apart of her gender expression. though she can simply enjoys being cute, mahiru is also very insecure, being pressured by the magazines to "always look her best," and seeking constant attention from her boyfriend. in other words, something she clings to. (add that to the "mahiru suffocation symbolism" board, boys.)

meanwhile, kotoko thinks of femininity as an asset, something to use. in a similar manner, she's also seen using androgny to her advantage. in harrow, she consciously wear baggy clothing, hoods, and masks outside to make it harder for the police to identify her. (i'm quite interested in what she'd look like in a softer more preppy style honestly.)

this doesn't have a thesis or anything btw o7 i'm just ill about them and convinced something major will happen between them. they're gonna kiss i can feel it in my bones

Beatrice grins, nodding enthusiastically. "I know, right?" she says, "And look at this one! It has tiny sharks!" She holds up another one that indeed has a shark design in several colors, clearly excited about the prospect of giving their daughter options.

Rooster chuckles, "She’s going to look like a little beach bum," he says, "I can already picture it."

Beatrice gives him a playful nudge, "Hey, don't call our daughter bum," she teases, "She'll be a stylish beach baby, thank you very much."

Rooster laughs, "You're right, my bad," he says, "Stylish beach baby it is."

They continue to browse through the store, picking out cute and practical items for the beach day. Beatrice is in her element, and Rooster is happy to see her so carefree and excited. It reminds him of why he fell in love with her in the first place – her passion, her love for life, and her pure raw light.

After picking out a few swimsuits, sun hats, and beach toys for Nikki, they head to the checkout counter. As they pay for their items, Beatrice turns to Rooster with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"I have a surprise for you," she says.

Rooster raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh really? What is it?" he asks.

Beatrice leans in, planting a soft kiss on his lips. "I got you a matching swim trunk too," she whispers with a wink.

Rooster grins, feeling a rush of love for his wife. "You did?” she nods, biting her lower lip, “...are there even adult sized things here?”

Beatrice giggles, nodding again. "Yes, they have a section for men's swim trunks too," she says, "I couldn't resist getting us matching ones,at least color wise. We'll be the coolest family at the beach."

Rooster chuckles, feeling touched by her thoughtfulness. "I love it," he says, "You always know how to make things special."

She smiles warmly at him, her eyes shining with love. "I just want us to have the best beach day ever," she says, "It's our first family beach day with Nikki, and I want it to be memorable." she says and the cashier just smiles at that while sliding everything ahead.

"It will be," Rooster assures her, "With you by my side and our little beach bum," he winks at Nikki, "It's bound to be a day we'll cherish forever."

“Bum!’ Nicole giggles, clapping her hands, “Bum bum!” while that was random, no one blinks an eye…after all she was just a baby learning words, nothing bad about that. She was just so smiley that everyone immediately fell in love with her. She even said ‘bye bye’ to the lady at the store when they left.

“Alright,so,” he says as he opens the door and exchanges the bags for Nicole with Beatrice, “What next?”

“We go back home and change, then we come back to the beach.” she looks up at the sky with a grin, “It’s a lovely day today.”

Rooster smiles, nodding in agreement. "It is a perfect day," he says, "And we have all the beach essentials now, thanks to you." he shuts the car’s door and sighs,propping his hands on his hips, “We might need some sunscreen though.”

Beatrice laughs, playfully nudging him. "Of course, Mr. Forgetful," she teases, "I got that covered too." She reaches into her bag and pulls out a small bottle of sunscreen. "See? All set."

Rooster grins, feeling grateful for his thoughtful wife. "You think of everything, don't you?" he says, taking the sunscreen from her and kissing the tip of her nose.

She smirks, "Well, someone has to keep things in order around here," she jokes, "And that someone is definitely not you."

He pretends to be offended, clutching his chest dramatically. "Ouch," he says, "You wound me, Beatrice."

She giggles, leaning in to peck him on the lips. "I love you,and I can kiss you better," she says, "Now, let's head back home, get changed, and have the best beach day ever with our little beach bum."

Rooster smiles, his heart swelling with love for his wife and daughter. "Sounds like a perfect plan," he says.

They make their way back home, and as they change into their beach clothes, Rooster can't help but feel a sense of excitement. It is a milestone, in a way, Nicole is seeing and touching the beach for the very first time.

When was the first time he saw the beach?

He thought about it, pulling his white tee off his body and exposing the golden skin of his chest for Beatrice’s eyes. He hasn’t seen her there, she just came up to grab something in their room and stopped by the door, eyes locked on the muscles on his back and mouth parted open in shock at just how sexy he was.

Rooster's thoughts drift back to his own childhood as he changes into his swim trunks. He remembers the first time he saw the beach – it was during a family vacation when he was about six years old. His mom had taken him and his cousins to a beach in Virginia, but he couldn’t recall which one.

He remembers the feeling of awe and wonder as he stood on the sandy shore, the vastness of the ocean stretching out before him. The sound of the waves crashing, the salty smell of the sea, and the warmth of the sun on his skin left a lasting impression on him.

As he snaps back to the present, he finds Beatrice staring at him with that same mesmerized look she had when she first saw him without his shirt on. He chuckles, pulling her close to him after tossing his shirt aside.

"What's got you so captivated?" he teases, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.

She blushes slightly, smiling up at him. "I was just admiring the view," she says playfully, running her fingers down his chest "You're looking pretty good, Roos."

He grins, his arms wrapping around her waist. "Right back at you," he says, "You always take my breath away, you know that?"

Beatrice leans in, their foreheads touching. "That’s a quote from the Berlin song.”

“It sure is.”

“Cheesy.” she giggles, touching his face, “But that’s one of the reasons why I fell in love with you, that and your sweet sweet face,” her nose scrunches in a smile before she backs away from him, with some resistance from her husband who whines as she looks around the room, “I’m trying to find my flip flops, did you see them?” he makes a confused noise, slipping his Hawaiian shirt back on, “Yeah, you know the ones, the Sailor Moon ones, I used them that time at the beach…when we had our game.”

“Oh.” he hums, “To be honest I wasn’t paying attention to your…feet.” he drops his eyes down her body appreciatively, earning a soft sigh and a chuckle from her, ‘But I’m sure they look cute.’

Beatrice playfully rolls her eyes at his teasing, but there's a glint of amusement in her eyes. "You're such a flirt," she says, poking him in the chest, "But I guess I can forgive you this time."

He grins, fixing his collar. "I promise to pay more attention to your feet next time," he says with a wink then he frowns, “Wait, ugh, ignore I said that.”

“Too late.”

“I wasn’t thinking when I said it.”

She laughs, swatting him playfully as she walks past him to the opposite side of the room. "Okay, okay, enough flirting," she says, "I really need to find those flip flops."

Rooster looks around the room, trying to spot the flip flops she's talking about. "Hmm, let me help you look," he says, joining in the search. After a few moments, he spots the Sailor Moon flip flops tucked under the bed. "Found them!" he says, picking them up and handing them to her.

Beatrice takes the flip flops with a smile of gratitude. "Thanks, babe," she says, but he holds onto them, making her furrow her brows, “What?”

“Just reminiscing.” he smirks, leaning closer to kiss her nose, ‘You looked so beautiful that day,” she immediately scoffs, grabbing the sandals from his hands as he slowly lets go of them, “Those shorts,” he whistles low, “Those shorts should be illegal…but I did see you naked, many many times…I can’t choose a favorite look on you.”

“Oh my God.” she swats his shoulder, “I’m going to check on Nikki.”

“No worries, gorgeous.” he kisses her head as she walks away, keeping her in his vision until he can’t see her anymore. Now that he’s alone, he can’t help but smile while recalling that day…he just noticed a lot of important things, in their lives, happened at the beach. They had the game at the beach, he took her there before asking her out during Phoenix’s barbecue, he told her about his very first deployment there…and he proposed to her at the beach.

With his lips pursed, trying to contain his smile, Rooster just felt himself getting giddy, ‘Maybe that’s why she thinks Nikki would like it,” he whispers to himself, buttoning his shirt to the middle of his chest. Inhaling quietly, he turns on his heel towards the hallway, tapping his finger rhythmically on the wall - the melody of ‘Great Balls of Fire’ coming out of his mouth as he hums, walking up to Nicole’s nursery only to watch as Beatrice holds her up to her face.

He smirks, leaning his shoulder against the door as Nicole, who looks very confused as to what exactly she was wearing - the little worried look resembled Beatrice’s so much - as his wife cooed and squealed happily at their daughter’s outfit, “You look so cute! So cute! Oh my god.” she kisses Nicole’s cheek, “You look adorable, like a little watermelon, oh you look so cute, we have to take pictures when we’re at the beach.” he turns to looks down at the floor when he sees Jolene and the pups right there by him…all of them wearing beach themed shirts too…and sunglasses.

He blinked, then clicked his tongue against his teeth, pointing to the dogs, “I see they are all ready to go too.”

Beatrice turns to look at Rooster, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she hugs Nicole close. "Oh, absolutely," she says with a grin, "We can't leave them out of the beach day fun! Look how adorable they are in their beach outfits." cue to tail wagging and happy panting from them.

Rooster chuckles, kneeling down to give Jolene and the pups some pats on the head, even fixing Eleanor’s colorful sunglasses. "You guys are stealing the show," he says playfully, "But hey, looking good."

The dogs wag their tails happily, seemingly excited about the beach day adventure as well. Beatrice carefully changes Nicole to her opposite arm while hooking her baby bag on her shoulder…well,trying to, because Rooster takes it out of her hands immediately. He kisses her lips cutely when she tries to complain, only to sigh and shake her head before following him outside.

He opens the door so they can put Nicole in first, then the dogs enter, then they do. And Beatrice sighs happily once she’s inside, closing her eyes behind her sunglasses, “Okay!” she spreads her hands “I have some ideas for today,wanna hear them?” she even had a little notepad.

Rooster grins, turning the car on and opening the garage’s door. "Of course, I'm all ears," he says, glancing at her notepad with curiosity, "What fun ideas do you have in store for our beach day?"

Beatrice opens her notepad and clears her throat dramatically before starting. "First, we should definitely take a family photo on the beach."

Rooster nods in agreement, "That's a great idea," he says, "What else?"

She continues, "Then, I was thinking we could build sandcastles together. I know that some babies enjoy playing with it…we just have to be careful with the sun."

"Of course," Rooster says with a chuckle, "Sounds like a plan."

Beatrice grins, flipping to the next page of her notepad. "And after that, we can take turns splashing in the waves with Nikki," she says, "I'm sure she'll love the feeling of the ocean on her little feet."

Rooster nods, they are already out of the house and the garage door is closing. "Sounds good," he says.

Beatrice beams at him, feeling grateful for the wonderful family they have. "And last but not least," she says, "We have to collect seashells pictures but not seashells because that’s just going to harm the environment! But,yeah! That’s what I got." she smiles, placing the notepad inside her bag as she leans back against the seat, placing her hands over her stomach as she looks out the window.

She doesn’t know why today was going to be so special, but she knew it’d be special…she just knew.

Nicole stood close to Rooster as he crouched next to her by the shore, holding the little baby up by her armpits and looking to the ocean, “...look Nikki.” he whispers, ‘It’s the ocean, you’ve seen it before, yesterday.” he coos, the light reflected on his sunglasses and on the little pin on her hat. It was still early, they’d never get to the beach when the sun was at it’s peak.

Nicole was mesmerized, she was just staring. And Rooster loved it, “Okay we-woah!” she started walking to the water, well,trying to. Her father picked her up before she could move more than a few inches, her tiny legs kicking in the air when he lifted her up, “Okay, listen, missy,” he stands up fully to hold her against his chest, wagging his finger at her, “We are going in the water together.”

“Wa?” she points to the ocean, “Wa-wa?”

“I don’t know if you understood me or you are just saying because you are just smarter than we ever thought you’d be.” he mutters, “But yes, we’re going together, while mama.” he turns to where Beatrice was,giving her a smile and a wave. She was sitting in the shade with Jolene and Jack by her side,Eleanor was trotting to meet Rooster at the shore, “Mama is going to stay under the shade with the dogs and your little siblings.”

Nicole giggles, her baby laughter filling the air as she bounces in Rooster's arms. "Wa!" she repeats, pointing at the water again.

Rooster grins, nodding at her enthusiasm. "That's right, baby girl," he says, "We're going to the water!" With Nicole safely in his arms, he walks towards the shore, the soft waves lapping at his feet.

He stops when the water reaches just above his ankles, making sure it's a safe depth for Nicole. She looks at the gentle waves, her eyes widening in wonder. "Wa-wa!" she exclaims, kicking her little legs in excitement.

"Yep, that's the water," Rooster says with a smile, "It's pretty amazing, huh?"

Nicole babbles happily in response, reaching out to touch the water with her tiny fingers. The sensation of the cool water on her skin makes her squeal with delight. "Wa-wa!" she repeats, splashing the water with her hands.

Rooster chuckles, delighted by her reaction. He takes a step further into the water, and Nicole clings to him, her small hands wrapping around his neck. "It's okay, baby," he reassures her, "Daddy's got you."

He slowly walks a bit deeper into the water, making sure to support Nicole's weight. She clings to him tightly, her wide eyes never leaving the ocean waves. 

As they stand there together, Rooster feels the weight of responsibility as a father, but he also feels the immense joy of sharing this special moment with his daughter. He knows they’ve been going well, but he still had his moments…undoubtedly, therapy is going to help him do it better.

“Okay,” he feels the sand beneath his feet for a bit before gently lowering Nicole to the water, the waves not that strong or fast, so it wasn’t too overwhelming for her. His daughter squealed happily, kicking her feet in the water and the high pitched sound called Eleanor’s attention who practically stomped through the waves to meet them there, making sure Nicole was alright, “She’s fine,Ellie.” he reassures the white pittie mix, who whines as if to ask if he was sure just as Nicole is having a blast on the waves.

He smiles down at her, for such a small body she is moving as if she wants to walk on water herself. He lifts her from the water after a while, kissing her cheek, “Fun right?” she giggles, stretching her little body back almost wanting to return to the ocean, “Alright, okay, calm down Ariel, we’ll be back in the water in a little bit.” he looks back at Beatrice, who was now happily reading a book with her hand on her stomach, “Let’s go see mama.”

“Wa-wa.”

“I know, later.”

She points her tiny hand to the water, making a grabby motion “Wa-wa.”

Rooster sighs, arching his brows up to his hairline as he runs his free hand through his hair, whistling so Eleanor joins them on the way back.

As Rooster walks back to where Beatrice is sitting, Nicole giggles and reaches out towards the water again, still fascinated by it. Eleanor follows closely behind, wagging her tail as if to join in on the fun.

"Looks like she's really taken to the water," Beatrice says with a smile, setting her book aside as they approach,fixing her sunglasses over her eyes.

"Yeah, she's a natural beach bum," Rooster chuckles, sitting down next to Beatrice and placing Nicole in her lap. "She was loving every moment of it. But I think it’s better to stay here for a little bit, then I can go for a swim after you go."

Beatrice wraps her arms around Nicole, who snuggles against her, still pointing towards the water. "I think we have a little water baby on our hands," she says, "I told you she’d be like that…also why do you want me to-" he slowly drops his eyes down her body, before covering the brown irises with his Caravan, “Oh my God. You are just awful.”

“-lly in love with you.” he coos back, “No, but really,” he leans back on his hands, toned stomach expanding as he inhales the salty air, “I’m okay being here right now. Just for a little bit.”

Beatrice rolls her eyes affectionately, then turns her attention back to Nicole, who is still pointing excitedly at the water. "Looks like someone is eager to get back to the waves," she says, "But later,Nikki.."

Rooster looks over to the ocean with the wind brushing through his hair, “...I have a therapy session.” Beatrice looks up at him in surprise, and he tilted his head at her with a smirk, “I found someone.”

“You did?”

“Yeah, his name is Dr.Paulson,I uh,” he scratches the side of his face after wiping the sand from his hands, “I heard some of the guys at the base talking about him, he’s been working with a lot of people for a long time now.”

She looks ready to burst, “Roos, that’s incredible!” she says, leaning closer to press a soft kiss to his cheek, one that only was made more special when he turned his head to kiss her lips just in time. She kisses him a few more times, rubbing his cheek, “...when are you going?”

“Uh…this thursday, after lunch. It’s the first session so,” he shrugs, “I don’t have a specific time yet.”

Her gaze softens as she holds Nicole to her chest, “...how do you feel about it?”

Rooster takes a deep breath, looking to the coming waves. "Honestly, I'm a little nervous," he admits, "But I'm also hopeful. I know I need to work through some things, and I want to be the best version of myself for you and for the kids."

Beatrice gives him a reassuring smile, her love for him evident in her eyes. "You're already the best version of yourself," she says, "But therapy can help you healeven more. I'm proud of you for taking this step, Roos."

He leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Thank you," he says softly, "Your support means the world to me."

She reaches up to cup his face, her thumb brushing against his cheek affectionately. "We're in this together, remember?" she says, "No matter what, I'll always be here for you, cheering you on every step of the way."

Rooster nods, a sense of gratitude washing over him for the incredible woman he has by his side. "I know," he says, "My own personal cheerleader huh?”

“Something like that.”

His smile drops diminutively before he speaks, “...my mom never went.”

“Hm?”

“To therapy,at least I don’t remember.” he purses his lips, subtly shaking his head, ‘She…she was always so strong, I don’t think she ever did go. I do remember her taking me to my sessions, but her? Never…even after she got sick. I don’t know why.”

Beatrice's heart aches as she sees the mix of emotions on Rooster's face. She reaches out to hold his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "It's okay, Roos," she says softly, "Everyone has their own journey, their own way of coping with things. Your mom might have found strength in her own way."

Rooster nods, but he’s still looking ahead. "I guess so," he says, "She was always a strong woman, that's for sure…but now that I’m grown and now that I…I’ve seen and heard everything that happened, even from Mav…I think she was scared of the pain again." the waves crash on the shore,people talk around them and they feel like they are in their own little bubble, “I think that’s why she hid things from me, because it scared her so much about…the thought.” he says the last line with a heavy exhale, “...the memory of him.”

“I understand.”

“I used to be terrified of the ocean. So much. You know that…and I wonder if that wasn’t my mom’s fear too. Because she’d take me…very few times. We’d rarely go on our own.” the wind flutters his hair alongside Beatrice’s, “...I don’t want to have that fear,Bea.”

“You–” she wants to say he doesn’t, but if he mentioned, he…must feel some type of way about it. She didn’t want to undermine his thoughts.

“Being your husband, being a father…it changed me a lot. And for the best,” he smiles at her, tilting his head just enough to show Bea his eyes, only to look away again, “But I think there are things that I can do better, mentally wise. I can’t change the past,babe as much as I’d love to.”

Beatrice gently cups Rooster's face, guiding his gaze back to hers. "But you can heal from it.” she rubs his cheekbone, “And it’ll be good for you,first and foremost.”

He leans into her touch, "Thank you," he says, his voice tinged with emotion, a bit choked up too,he kisses her palm and squeezes her hand briefly.

Beatrice smiles, her heart overflowing with love for this man. "Always," she says, "You know that." she sighs, looking at the ocean, “You know…I think me and Nikki can go to the ocean for a bit.”

“Wa-wa!”

“Yes, wa-wa.” Beatrice giggles, looking up at Rooster who magically appeared in front of her to help her up alongside Nikki, “We’ll be fine.” she reassures him before he even asks, “I promise we will.”

Rooster smiles, kissing her cheek before moving to her ear. "I love you," he whispers, "Thank you for being my anchor, especially when I feel like I'm drifting."

"I love you too," Beatrice replies, she kisses him right back on the jawline, "And I'll always be here.” He kisses Nicole’s head, then hesitantly lets Beatrice’s hand go, watching with his hands on his hips as his wife and daughter walk towards the ocean. He smiles softly,sitting down with Jolene and Jack, since Eleanor trotted along Bea, and he sighs. Jolene’s big honey eyes look at him, her huge head plopping on his thigh with a little whine escaping her throat. “I’m okay Jojo.” he chuckles, scratching her head, “...but I kinda lied a bit.” he mutters, “...because I’m fucking terrified of therapy.”

Ya know, I thought being a Faction Paradox fan meant it could be hard to find books.

But the things I'm finding while looking up Arsène Lupin books? Which are public domain, with some very rare, very expensive first editions from 1908-onward still floating around?

hoooooooo boy, some of the literal scams I've come across...

... First, there's this monstrosity.

first, you know something is up already when you see the cover:

(functional ID: ) The book itself is yellow, and the entire "cover" is just a medium-sized, plain white rectangle with plain text that reads "Arsene Lupin Versus Herlock Sholmes (1910)". The only bit of color outside the yellow background is a tiny rectangle at the bottom of the white section, that has a simple red rose in it, and at the bottom on the yellow portion, it says Maurice Leblanc and Georgie Morehead; they are the author and english translators respectively.

Not only is this cover incredibly ugly and boring....

They didn't even put the accent on the è in Arsène !

Now, granted, I still don't know the key-combination needed to type out the è (on a regular keyboard, that is; mobile is much easier), but I also literally have a pinned tab leading to the Arsène Lupin wiki so I can literally just copy and paste his name whenever I need to, lol. I'm also not a supposedly wide-spread, professionnel publisher who specializes in reprinting rare books....

Now, all this wouldn't be so monstrous.......

Except this is what it looks like, reading the book.

So, on top of admitting they have having zero quality control for their reprints, they're also not even selecting the correct page or printer size for their "rare reprints!" Literally so much paper is being wasted here.

"Arsène Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes" is 350 pages long in its original 1910 First Edition. That's with text that actually filled up the original page. If they'd at least chosen a smaller page size to fit their clear PDF-print, it would have been fine....ish.

But they didn't, so now this book is 350 pages long, and probably wasting half of those pages on pure blank paper.

Also, they're charging $30-$40 for these, "brand-new" on Amazon; going to their publishing website just leads any search to a generic Amazon page, full of the same extremely blatant ripoffs, including "leather hardcovers" from a print of demand location they can't even be bothered to not use a stock photo that requires them to blur out three different titles on the spine for each different angle.

Oh, and the real kicker?

Here's the exact Archive.org listing they're scraping to reprint for exorbitant amounts of money:

And this isn't the worst one I've found, either; another "public domain scraper" as I've taken to calling them, has taken this book:

and downloaded the ancient, autogenerated Epub from the Internet Archive, and without any human being looking at that Epub, converted it into a PDF and sent it off to a Print-On-Demand company to make those same generic, leather-bound hardcovers for $30+.

Would you like to know what the ancient, auto-generated epub looks like for this very old, very old scan of a book looks like? The one these scammers are reprinting and selling for an arm and a leg without anyone actually looking at the contents of what they're selling?

As a reference, this is what the original, old scan looks like:

I don't know if this scam listing is still out there, I reported the one I found on Abe books, but they're also probably out there with a million duplicate listings on various websites.

If you are looking for physical copies of the Public Domain Arsène Lupin books, please make sure you carefully check what you are buying before ordering, especially online.

Make sure the 'è' in Arsène has the accent; make sure there's actual quality control, and for Arsène's sake, make sure what you're buying isn't slapdash gibberish.

I highly reccomend having the wiki page for Arsène Lupin opened up as you're reading through the books for the first time, because many of the books released at various times (and in various languages) with multiple different titles, so no two reading guides use the same title and leads to sheer confusion.

Since USA and French Copyright law are different, if you are in the USA you cannot use any books published after 1928 (except post-humous) for derivative works, as France has a shorter copyright term of 75 years after death (except post-humous), while the USA is based on 95 years after publication, so us poor Lupin fans in the USA have to wait until 2037 before they all are Public Domain :'(

TL;DR: If you're a fan of a series which is Public Domain, you can read them online for free 100% legally; if you're looking to buy phyiscal books and you're shopping online, please take care to check for quality to make sure you're not getting scammed with an extremely poor quality ""book"" which could be complete gibberish, and/or a huge waste of money and paper.

BALLET CORE: TIKTOK’S NEW OBSESSION & FASHION’S OLD FRIEND

Ballet core has pirouetted its way into the hearts of hyperfeminine girls everywhere. It girls Lily-Rose Depp, Bella Hadid and actress Elle Fanning have championed this trend. Ballet had an undeniable influence on SS23 Fashion week. Ballet references danced their way from the Sandy Liang show in New York to the Simone Rocha runway in London. Videos tagged Ballet core have gained an impressive 171 million views on TikTok and on Pinterest searches for ballet core have jétéd all the way up by 1566%. The Miu Miu ballet flats have gone viral on Tik Tok, and it seems as if every girl has run to their local dance shop to buy themselves a pair of leg warmers and a baby pink leotard.

The main items of ballet core are casual rehearsal accessories such as leg warmers, leotards, and wrap-around cardigans. Ballet flats are another staple in the ballet core wardrobe. It girl Lily Rose Depp, is constantly seen wearing the red Repetto ballet pumps and Bella Hadid and Devon Lee Carlson have become fans of Sandy Liang’s pointe shoe. It could be said that ballet rehearsal wear is 2022’s answer to the athleisure trend which took off in 2016. Ballet core is the perfect median between comfort and femininity. Morgan Timuri- founder of Lei, a ballet-inspired clothing brand states “When I wear feminine ballet-inspired outfits I feel quite comfortable yet subtly stylish… it doesn’t make me feel like I’m too overdressed or underdressed.” Timuri also credits the Oscar-winning film Black Swan for popularising ballet wear: “I think movies becoming popular again such as Black Swan have definitely made ballet core a lot more popular”.

Ballet and fashion have been in a long-term relationship since the early 1900s. The Ballet Russes, a Parisian ballet company founded in 1907, popularised ballet as fashion’s muse. The Ballet Russes brought ballet to the West, and they exposed Europe to a romantic image of Tsarist Russia. Léon Bakst’s luxurious ‘oriental’ costumes for the company further propelled ballet into Western entertainment. His costumes were vibrant and decadent. The master couturier, Paul Poiret, took inspiration from Bakst’s ‘oriental’ costumes in 1909 and created his own ‘oriental’ influenced collection which featured kaftans, headdresses, and the infamous new wave harem pants. The Ballet Russes’ opulent costumes also inspired Yves Saint Laurent’s 1976 Haute Couture collection, Opéras - Ballets Russes.

The reality of ballet is very different from the romanticised image that ballet core portrays. If you look up ballet core on Pinterest, you will enter a thinspo hell. Images of skinny, white bodies will flood your screen and these pictures promote eating disorders and romanticise the struggles ballerinas face. According to Butterfly, an eating disorder charity “The ballet industry strives on structure, comparison, and perfectionism. With a focus on an ideal, thin body type.” The charity found that approximately 12% of dancers struggle with eating disorders and ballet dancers are 10 times more likely to develop eating disorders than non-ballet dancers. When asked about the romanticisation of ballet core and body image representation within the dance industry, ex-ballerina Daisy Ayscough proclaims that “There is some harm in that industry in terms of body image and it’s not ideal that it’s being transferred into the World around us”.

Like most trends that start on Tik Tok, you might think that ballet core isn’t going to stay long but Morgan Timuri thinks otherwise as she explains “I don’t think it will die out because the components of ballet core aren’t anything out of the ordinary and are pretty much staple pieces of any other wardrobe”. Let’s hope ballet and fashion don’t break up anytime soon but the ballet industry needs to go its separate way from its toxic body ideals.

Cameron Fletcher also came by to grab a $2 spinach – I’m glad he’s not too annoyed that I banned him from the break room microwave. XD Alice wandered back upstairs while waiting on the stand mixer to clean one of the displays (which WERE getting a bit manky) – I promptly sent her back downstairs to collect her prepped vegetables and get the pizza in the oven while I had Victor finish the cleaning magically and conjure up some spaghetti for himself. Smiler meanwhile got another sale – someone named Anaya buying a box of veggie MREs for $241. For five seconds, everything seemed to be going well –

-->BOOM ANOTHER MASS BUYING EVENT! Complete with lag, because you gotta have lag. *heavy sigh* I had Alice stay downstairs long enough to get her pizza (as it was almost done by the time everyone decided they wanted to buy something), but after that, it was all hands on deck to take care of customers! Fortunately, they got them all – Paolo with a cube of beeswax for $18; Tetsuya with a box of canned fishcakes for $413; Dali with a box of chocolate syrup jars for $413; Jeb and Osuma both with friendly animal treats for $17 each. Oh, and a guy named Chad grabbed a strawberry out of the produce fridges for $19. Whew! I put Victor on "removing all of the out-of-stock signs" duty afterward while Smiler cleaned up some stray plates and glasses that had ended up on the produce stands (the custom “farmer’s market”-style ones I got from Brazen have slots on the little shelf underneath, it appears – perfect for Sims to hide shit from you) and Alice made a clay bunny. As you do. Alice then used the toilet and ate a container of prepped veggies over the bathroom sinks (I forgot you could just eat prepped ingredients straight-up) before running off to shower in the rain. *shakes fist* ERRATIC SIMS! While she was busy causing newcomers to the lot to gasp, Victor and Smiler handled what I decided would be the last sales of the day – Ivana with a box of canned tomato sauce for $413, and Francine with a pumpkin animal treat for $46. There was another lady wanting to buy something, but for some reason Smiler kept insisting they couldn’t get to her, so before things got any more chaotic, I decided to have them close the store. All in all, they sold 18 total items for a profit of $3,729! Not bad for a day’s work!

-->Except – when Smiler closed up shop, three people stayed behind, the previously-stuck lady and two others, all with shopping carts over their heads. Puzzled, I had Smiler and Alice (back in her clothes) ring up the two that could be reached (Victor heading back into the break room for another nap) while I let the “stuck” one time out – this did NOT result in any post-closing sales, though, just some customer goodwill. Well, for everyone except the customer who was mysteriously blocked. Sorry, lady, not sure what happened there! Try again next time!

-->Anyway – with that sorted, the trio decamped to the break room to watch a bit of TV and do a bit of flirting, as they do. :) Once the last customer had FINALLY left the store, they headed back to their place, arriving back home at about 9 PM in-game –

Crimson hound(Artifact): Conductive adamantine greataxe+4 that can be summoned with a mind command and transmit the Egg corruption via wounds. If destroyed, it can reform if the user makes a chant that lasts for a full round. Once per day, the user can touch a follower blessed by the Egg with the weapon and bestow the effect of a spell Righteous Power that lasts for 24h). The weapon is semi-sentient and knows the location and status of every creature that is or was infected by the Egg, even those that are now free from his grasp. By looking into the gem "eye" of the weapon it works like the spell Clairaudience/clairvoyance(both at the same time) but if used on people loyal to the Egg it is considered an instant cast and without saving throw. It is destroyed when the Red seed is destroyed.

Malice carapace(Artifact): Darkleaf Reflecting Leather+5 it has the properties Shadow greater and Glamered. It possess the hardness of adamantine but it is light and flexible as leather. Furthermore, it grants the user a +5 resistance bonus on saving rolls. If the user manages to gather under his Leadership feat at least 100 people (regardless of the hit dice) it grants the wearer regeneration 20. It is destroyed if the Red seed is destroyed.

The red seed(Artifact): This crimson gem shaped like an egg emits a malignant (evil overwhelming)red aura that grants his user the benefit of the spell Freedom of movement, Blink and protects it from any transmutation effects. The seed can hover around the user like Ioun stone also it can be placed on the ground to start the spreading of the corruption. After 72 hours a 10 mile area is corrupted by the Egg and only a Miracle or Wish spell can cure this effect(performed at the epicenter of the corruption). If the Seed is removed before the 72h timer expires, the corruption slowly fades away after 24h. The Seed can be destroyed via a mythic spell of level 7 or higher OR by weapons with an enchantment equal or higher than +4 and the bane plant property and holy property. When the Seed is destroyed, Velvetcake is destroyed and his Eternal ability stops to function. The Egg then needs 300 days to restore his champion and artifact to resume the corruption. (Any completed 72h corruption rituals will still be active even after Velvet demise). The Seed has 300hp and 20 point of hardness and can only be damaged via the means previously described.

Background In the past Antfrost lived a happy life with his lover RedVelvetcake and as long as they had each other, nothing else mattered. One day however, Velvet died to unknown circumstances and a distraught Antfrost left their home to avoid living alone and reached for his old friend BadBoyHalo. It was after he left that Antfrost was corrupted by the crimson Egg, promising him to restore his beloved Velvet in exchange for his loyalty. However, that moment still went away from his reach as Ant perished during the Red Banquet and a certain being brought him into his world. The Egg did not stood idle and although it spoke no words he made his intentions clear: “TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME.” His roots reached the old house of Ant and dug the remains of his beloved and fused together to recall his soul back. Soon, the new herald of the Egg from the land of SMP arrived in this brand new world with a portal where it would spread his corruption once more. There he stood: clad in red as he did in life. Velvetcake was reborn The Envoy of the Crimson Egg with one mission: Spread the corruption of his master using the artifacts he provided to him. However, there was something never clear: was this person just a made up memory by the Egg to ensure Antfrost’s obedience? Or was he actually the lover that Ant declared? For no one ever saw him except for Ant. Only the Egg knew. But not even the Egg could predict his first words upon arrival: “Ant, my beloved.” Thus he marched, locked onto him to fulfill his duty and bring back his lover under the wing of his master. And those who touched the crimson roots were doomed to fall under the whispers. “Long live the Eggpire.”
