Danganronpa 2 Monokuma: alright here the motiv for today but there a twist. Usually you allow to kill whoever you like. But this time there a target and if you kill someone other than the target the kill won't count and you will be Executor immediately. And the target is s/o. What the cast reaction to there s/o being the target.
Ooo very interesting :3
Monokuma's Motive - DR2 Cast x Reader
When Monokuma called everyone to Jabberwock Park, everyone knew it wasn't anything good. It had been a bit since the last murder, thanks to you, and Monokuma hadn't been bothering anyone, so everything seemed to be going well.
Until he summoned the entire class to the park out of nowhere.
No one was willing to disobey him, so you all made your way there, where the bear was waiting.
"Gooood morning, my beautiful students! Now, let's get down to business! You know how this game's been going so far; you're usually allowed to kill whoever you want, however you want to do it, right? Well, I have something different planned."
You didn't like the way he said that. You exchange an anxious look with your significant other before turning back to Monokuma.
"This time, the motive I selected has a teeny-tiny bit of a twist. This time, there's a target!"
This had everyone on edge. The target could have been anyone. You and your significant other tightly take hold of each other's hands, waiting for Monokuma to reveal the target.
"And that target... is (Name)!" He shouted, pointing his left paw at you.
All color drained from your face, and your blood turned to ice. The air was filled with an agonizing silence as all heads turned to you. The others gave you looks of sympathy, and looks of fear. Your significant other was horrified.
"(Name) is the target of this brand new motive! They are the only person you are allowed to kill. If you kill anyone else, you will be immediately executed, and there won't be a class trial."
Hajime Hinata
"What?! You can't! You can't make them the target!"
"Sure can, lover boy! It's non-negotiable!"
Hajime was absolutely horrified
Why would he choose you?
Just because you were trying to keep the peace didn't mean you had to die!
But apparently, Monokuma thought otherwise
There is no way Hajime will allow this
He will never let anybody touch you ever again
He becomes a bit more aggressive towards the others and way more protective over you
He doesn't even want you to go near them
It's kind of irritating honestly
But you know that he's doing it out of love, so you suppose you can put up with it for a while
Nagito Komaeda
"Wh-What? Why (Name)? They don't deserve to die..."
Unfortunately, Monokuma didn't think so
You were the one preventing the kills, so he had to get rid of you
Instead of being hyper-focused on keeping you away from the others like Hajime, Nagito is more focused on comforting you
Being the chosen target must be terrifying, of course
So when you're out together, he holds your hand and keeps you close
When you're alone, he holds you close to his chest while he whispers gentle words into your ear
He wants you to feel safe
He feels anxious about you being around the others, but he'll let you hang out with them as long as he's with you
But he watches them like a hawk
Nagito hates seeing you scared, and he'll do whatever it takes to prevent you from dying
Kazuichi Soda
"What?! That's crazy!! Why them?!"
He's more anxious then you are, honestly
The thought of losing you has him near the edge
But he'll pull himself together and try to act strong for you
You're the one being targeted, after all
He acts like a big manly bodyguard and walks all serious and stiff while he follows you around
He's not very threatening, but it did make you laugh
Not exactly what he was going for, but he's glad that he at least helped you take your mind off the situation
Real talk though, if anyone got too close to you, he'll probably throw a wrench at their head
He doesn't want anyone to come near you
There will be some nights where he'll need you to comfort him
He hates living every day in fear of you getting killed
And he'll be there for you to lean on him too
Just be prepared for a very clingy Kazuichi
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
"What the hell?! You bastard! You can't do that!!"
Very VERY pissed
How dare that damn bear target you?!
But he breathes in and forces himself to calm down
This is about you, not him
He and Peko both follow you everywhere, giving anyone who looks at you a hard glare
He will never leave you by yourself again
One of them will always be with you
He will not hesitate to threaten someone with a gun when they approach you
Maybe it's not entirely necessary, but there is no changing his mind
Underneath all this though, Fuyuhiko is scared shitless
He hates the thought of you dying
He doesn't want to show it, since again, this is about you, not him
But he'll have to spill his guts eventually, and he'll begrudgingly accept comfort from you once he does
It actually helps him quite a bit
But for the most part, all his focus is on you
Gundham Tanaka
"You fiend! How dare you appoint my beloved companion as the next target of your twisted game?!"
Stressed out and angry at the same time
Whenever you roam around the island, he brings a bear with him
He'll do the most to keep you safe
Like Nagito, he will comfort you when you need it when you're alone
And when you're out?
BEAR.
And the Dark Devas of Destruction hiss at anyone who comes too close
And Gundham will threaten to curse them
Like Kazuichi, he will need some comforting sometimes
From the overall stress of the situation
But he and his bears will protect you, no matter what
Teruteru Hanamura
"Hey now, this is just complete nonsense! Why would you pick (Name) as your next target?!"
Another one who is very stressed and might need some comforting
If you have to go out, he'll stick to you like glue
But most of the time, he'll want the two of you to stay in either of your cottages
He doesn't have any fighting skills, so he just wants to keep you away from everyone as best as he can
He really doesn't want you to leave, but he can't force you
Once again, he'll need some comforting
Even if he doesn't have any fighting skills, he'll go to hell and back for you
Nekomaru Nidai
"WHAT?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?! I HATE YOU!"
He's loud and passionate on the outside, but on the inside, he's terrified
He hates the idea of losing you
He's around you 24/7, inside or outside
When you're outside, he sticks close to you like a bodyguard
And when you're not outside, he's cuddling with you while you're in one of your cottages
He's not a violent person, but if anyone had any idea of hurting you, he'll bash their skull in
Nekomaru will do anything for you
Even stand between you and Monokuma while he's attacking you
But that's only a worst case scenario
The Impostor
"Absolutely despicable. How dare you choose (Name) as your target? Truly disgusting."
Underneath his snobby, salty exterior, he is incredibly anxious
But he won't let it show
Instead, he'll act as your bodyguard and protect you
He ends up hardening himself and becoming more distant because of the sheer anxiety he's feeling
Soon, he'll break down and spill his feelings
He doesn't feel strong enough to protect you
But a gentle handholding followed by a hug is enough to make these thoughts dissolve
He's still never letting you out of his sight though
The others can eat shit and die, but you're not allowed to leave him
Your leader commands it
Izuru Kamakura
"You disgust me."
His expression darkens and he glares daggers into Monokuma
Honestly, you were more worried about him than you were about your situation
After that, he's quickly dragging you to your cottage
At first, he sort of stands in front of the door, not doing or saying anything
Then he sits down on the bed and pulls you into his lap without saying a word
His silence speaks volumes, though
The way he holds you close to him tells you that he will slaughter anyone who gets too close
He has the talents, and he will get it done
Ain't no way he's letting you out of his sight
If you ask to leave, he'll stand in front of your door and stare you down with no expression
But eventually, he'll begrudgingly let you leave as long as he's with you
He holds your hand and glares at anyone who's nearby as he does so, though
He detests Junko for this, and he'll take care of her once he gets the chance
Chiaki Nanami
"What? Why?"
She's a little shocked
Imagine the surprised pikachu face here
She has no idea what she can do
She expected for Monokuma to choose her as the target, not you
She doesn't have any fighting skills whatsoever, so all she can do is cling onto you while you walk outside together
But whenever she can, she stays in with you and plays video games with you
Another one who will need some comforting
Sometimes she'll cling onto your arm and bury her face into your shoulder, lightly shaking
And you'll pull her into your side and hug her while she grips your shirt
Another thing she worries about is the secret about who she was
It feels like a knot in her stomach
She knows she has to tell you eventually
And she dreads it
Mikan Tsumuki
"Wh-What?! Why?! (Name) d-doesn't d-d-deserve to d-die!!"
She starts bawling right there on the spot
You'll have to lead her back to your cottage and calm her down
Once again, prepare for a clingy gf
Inside or out, she'll cling onto your arm while you walk together
Like several others on this list, she'll need you to comfort her
She tries to be there for you as best as she can, but she really is terrified
She would rather hang out inside with you, but she'll go outside with you if you so desire
Mikan doesn't want to let you go, and she will do whatever she has to in order to keep you with her
Even things she... Might not be proud of
Akane Owari
"That's bullshit! You can't just pick (Name) for no reason!"
"Actually, there is a reason, genius! Your precious little (Name) has been gettin' in my way!"
"SO WHAT?!"
Yeah, she's pissed
After calming her down, she'll start following you everywhere, glaring at anyone who looks at you the wrong way
If anyone dares to approach you, she'll punch their lights out
You'll have to calm her down a lot, and pull her away from a lot of fights
She has an even shorter fuse this time around, and she's more than ready to throw hands
As aggressive as she is, she really is worried about you
And she really doesn't want anything to happen to you
She'll also comfort you when you need it
Alongside glaring at anyone nearby, she holds your hand while she walks with you
Give it a squeeze, and she quickly calms down once she gets angry
She may also enlist Nekomaru's help in keeping you safe, but for the most part, she wants to do the job on her own
The only ones she can truly trust are you and herself
Hiyoko Saionji
"Hey! You jerk! You can't make them the target! You just can't!!"
Then she starts angry-bawling right there on the spot
From then on, she has to be by your side 24/7
She'll cling to you and she'll never let you go
Sometimes she'll make you pick her up and carry her around
She spouts insults at your other classmates, and you have to leave before she says something that might get you killed for real
Under the surface, she's terrified, and will also need to be comforted sometimes
But she'll do the same for you
She never really knows what to say to comfort you, but she shares her candy with you while she clutches onto you, hoping that's enough
Inside or out, she's stuck to you
She's horrified at the thought of losing you
Mahiru Koizumi
"What the hell?! Why would you make them the target?!"
She goes off on Monokuma, but quickly realizes that yelling will get her nowhere
She wants to spend most of her time inside with you, and will try and convince you to stay inside with her
It's safer for you, after all
But when you're out, she holds your hand and gives a dirty look to anyone who might be a threat
Which is pretty much everyone, particularly the guys
She gives comfort to you as well, and it's the only thing she really knows how to do
You can catch her looking down at the ground, sweating a little bit
She is very anxious
Give her hand a squeeze and she'll give you a small smile and calm down a bit
It helps, but she has no idea what she's gonna do about the situation
In the end, however, she'll do whatever she can to keep you safe
Ibuki Mioda
"Huh?! That's bonkers! You can't just go and randomly pick (Name)!"
Oh, it wasn't random
Monokuma deliberately wanted you gone
Her bright and energetic demeanor changes, and she tends to be much quieter and more distant
She tries to keep up her energy for you, but it feels way too forced
She mostly tries to distract herself from the situation, and comes up with fun things for you to do together
She also clings onto you while you're out together, and even more when you're inside
She really doesn't want you to leave the inside, and she clings onto you like a koala while trying to convince you to stay
"Don't go, (Name)! We can have fun here!"
But if you need to get some fresh air or stretch your legs, she'll let you leave as long as she can join you
She's terrified of the future, but she tries not to think about it too much
Sonia Nevermind
"What?! Why (Name)?! Oh... God damn you, bear!"
She's angry at first, but it doesn't last long
Her anger is replaced by complete and utter fear
When you go back to your cottage, she jumps on you and hugs you
She starts having a panic attack right there
You calm her down and assure her you'll be all right
Then you lead her inside the cottage and cuddle with her
Now whenever you go outside together, she'll link arms with you and keep an eye on anyone nearby
Kazuichi's probably gonna be the one to kill you-
She is very anxious about the situation, and she dreads what might happen in the future
She doesn't want to doubt her friends, but she may not have a choice
Peko Pekoyama
"Truly despicable. How dare you paint a target on my young master's back?"
She's angry and anxious, but she doesn't want to show it
She wants to be strong for you
Any time you guys are out, she keeps one hand on her sword
She is fully prepared to slice someone's head open
She prefers to stay inside your cottage with you though
Whenever you need some support, she'll give you some cuddles
And she might need some too
She doesn't want to appear weak, so she doesn't talk about her worries at first
But once she does, she'll accept comfort from you
She might be a little stiff sometimes, but it's only because she's concerned about you
She'll do anything to protect her young master, even if it means committing a murder herself

Basic Instinct Chapter 11
A/N: This chapter will basically be just a few fluff drabble scenes leading up to the Vorpal Swords vs Jabberwock game. Slight warnings of the reader struggling with self-esteem because of the abuse at home. Masterpost
Akashi had decided to pick you up that monday. He decided he'd go as obvious with the two of you being a thing as possible. He wanted to showcase you and your relationship to the whole wide world. Like an excited puppy, he did not even mind being drive in front of the school gates by his driver. He wanted to make an entrance. You were leaning against him, enjoying his scent. "Do you wear cologne?" "I do," He wasn't going to tell you he started wearing it as he fell in love with you, hoping you'd notice it someday. You smiled up at him, "it's really nice." You breathed him in, much to his enjoyment. He grinned, and as the driver opened the door, he slid out of the car gracefully, holding his hand out to you. With a small blush, you took it and the two of you walked equally red cheeked but proud onto the school grounds. Not everyone seemed to notice, it wasn't like a movie were everyone was looking at you like a deer in the headlights. But some people did, including the Uncrowned Generals who were waiting for their captain. Kotaro was whilsting and Nebuya belted out a, "WOOH, GOOD FOR YOU". Reo flinched slightly at the loud noise, but he smiled softly at the two of you. "I am happy you got the girl, Sei-Chan. Please be patient with him, Y/n-Chan." You giggled. "Sure I will. I am certain I can endure his attitude forever." "What is that supposed to mean?" Akashi mused, not too offended and you grinned at him. "You know what it means, Mister Absolute." He chuckled, squeezing your hand as his face softened. You squeezed right back, feeling absolutely warm and happy.
It was the day before Valentine's Day, and having dated Akashi for two weeks, you obviously wanted to give him some chocolate. Reo was thankfully there to help you as the two of you mused over designs. "I really want to do it right this time! My shogi muffins totally looked awful." You said, hating on your own hard work, per usual. Just thinking about it, you wanted to cringe and question yourself how you ever dared to present them to Akashi. Reo looked at you stern yet somewhat softened by care as he said, "I am certain they weren't that awful, and you never get anywhere without practise. Shall we begin with your first ever Valentine chocolate?" "Sure, let's practise! I am certain you can teach me, Reo-nee!" He chuckled lightly, as he grabbed all the ingredients needed for the heart shaped bon bons you liked from the designs. "I am happy Sei-Chan found such a wonderful girlfriend. You've been taking good care of him ever since the two of you started hanging out and frankly he needs it." "I know, he was always so devoted to everything but himself, it hurt to watch." Reo's smile grew, "and that is why I'm happy. He deserves a girlfriend who cares as much as you do. Just like a sweet young lady such as yourself deserves a true gentleman." You giggled in response. "You're a good friend, you know that right?" "Of course I do."
It was the day of the sakura festival, and Akashi had invited you to go with him. You had to admit, it was indeed absolutely beautiful and romantic, the blossoms were vibrant and mesmerizing. The weather was lovely too, the sun wasn't too bright, the temperature perfect and a soft breeze that was just right flowing some blossom petals through the air. The two of you were strolling through the park, your arm linked through his own. "I hope we stay together and can behold this pretty sight year after year with you in my arms." Akashi said, his gaze locking itself on you. You giggled, kissing him on the cheek. "Me too. You look even more handsome today. It's as if the pretty scenery is elevating your looks." You teased lightly, even though you did totally want to take a picture of him and the blossoms. It was a sight to never forget. Akashi chuckled as he plucked a pink petal out of your hair. "Funny, I was just thinking something similar. Pure beauty, all around me as well as at my side." You continued to giggle, as the two of you continued forward, trying to find a spot in the park. As Akashi found one, he spread a sheet across the grass, and the two of you sat. Snacks were consumned, laughter was shared and you had fallen asleep sitting against him, the warm sun, the comfortable sheet and your boyfriend's comforting presence making you too drowsy to stay awake. It truly was a perfect day, as far as Akashi was concerned whilst he was continueing to play with your hair. He wouldn't change a thing, not now, or ever.

Rating DR2 Characters on the Bestie Scale
Alright, I've been meaning to come back to this. I did one of these for DR1 characters and now it's time for DR2. Let's rank DR2 characters from most bestie to least bestie.
Nagito Komaeda We would not set out to become friends with Nagito but circumstances would conspire to continuously bring us together until before we know it, he practically lives here. Wouldn't be the first time.
Nekomaru Nidai He's ultra-positive and endlessly supportive, and just wants to help you achieve your full potential. What's not to love?
Sonia Nevermind Sonia comes over regularly for movie nights and anime binges. We try to get her interested in video games too. She's a horror buff and we each have different tastes in horror so that works out interestingly. Roommate definitely calls dibs and makes her watch Madoka before anything else.
Gundham Tanaka This human is ours now. You can't have him back. Gundham is charming, lovable, inoffensive, and delightful. And he comes with cuddly critters who are awesome and badass but no less adorable for it. What's not to love? Our team extrovert will kidnap this introvert, mark my words.
Chiaki Nanami This is a house of gamers who need therapy. Chiaki is a therapybot modeled after a pro gamer. You do the math.
Ibuki Mioda Ibuki would be a more than welcome presence here, especially since my roommate craves friends to talk music with. Her high energy and positivity would be welcome to have around here. She has issues with boundaries, but we have an open-door policy for friends so I don't see it being a problem.
Akane Owari It's impossible to not get along with Akane. She doesn't bring a lot to the table socially but her interests sure are convenient. She likes good food and good fighting. In my household, we have both; My roommate's a chef and my other roommate's a viking, so that works out great! We would probably ask Akane to help pitch in for the groceries if she's going to be eating over here.
Mikan Tsumiki Mikan is very nice and she's inoffensive. She needs a place to heal, and I think this house could be that for her. But it'd be a slow process to get her to open up to us. Mikan deserves besties to support her, and over time, I think she could become a very good friend.
Ultimate Imposter Imposter is polite and inoffensive, but a lot is going to depend on the mask they're wearing. It would be an uphill battle to get them to lower their walls, and it's likely that it may never happen at all. But if it does, we'll have found a friend for life.
Hajime Hinata Hajime's difficult to get a read on. He's reserved and keeps a lot of his thoughts to himself, but he can be a bit of a jerk. He means well, though; He's just a bit cynical. Like Makoto, I feel like his attention would be too split to really hang out much. I could more easily envision a pleasant acquaintanceship with Hajime than a true friendship.
Mahiru Koizumi We're definitely in "friend of a friend" territory here. I know people who would get along with Mahiru, but I don't think her gender-traditionalism is a good fit for my household.
Kazuichi Soda Similarly, I don't think I'd get along well with Kazuichi for lack of any shared interests, but my roommate might. They love to talk shop about cars and bikes and stuff, and hitting on women, so they could hit it off. But a lot's going to depend on whether or not Kaz is going to be shitty about an AFAB mechanic and I gotta be honest, I don't get a gender-progressive vibe from this man.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu / Peko Pekoyama Fuyuhiko's a pretty nice guy once you can get past his initial prickliness, but that prickliness is going to be a problem. The Jabberwock crew had to kill his emotional support bestie in order to get him to let down his guard. I'm not confident we'd be up to the task.
Peko, meanwhile, doesn't have friends. She's a gift-with-purchase alongside Fuyuhiko.
Hiyoko Saionji There's no polite way to say this. Hiyoko is an asshole. She's got some layers to her and her background explains how she came to be this way. But she's nonetheless constantly rude and cruel to the people around her. She would likely get physically thrown out of this house after saying some shit to my bruh's wife and that would be the end of it.
Teruteru Hanamura This man is a sex pest.

Oh gosh, imagine Kagami at the jabberwock game when they win and all his teammates' parents came to cheer them on and they hug them and no one came for kagami and he's happy that they won but then he instantly feel such loneliness crushing him :(( to make it a bit aokaga centric, imagine aomine and kagami are walking back after that game and kagami says how aomine's parents look a lot like her and chuckles about the huge cardboard they made cheering for aomine and kagami says he wishes someone did that for him and he looks so sad even though he tries to hide it but aomine pick up on it and tells him that his father is a jerk for missing out on such important things, then he subtly put his arm around kagami's shoulders and side hug him to comfort him, they're both awkward but kagami appreciate it a lot that he even properly hug aomine when they part.
Aww i love that akakuro headcanon!
I headcanon that kagami gets tipsy really easily and one night when all the GOM goes to a party and get drunk, kagami and kise have a one night stand, kagami regrets it big time cause it was his first time and kise is chill since he's already slept around before, when aomine hears about it, he tries to act like it's no big deal but he's pissed off at kise but he doesn't wanna ruin their friendship either so he only rants about it to satsuki who's helpless and just tells him to confront kise but he can't do that and it quickly becomes uneasy between aomine, kise and kagami.
noooo don't do this to meeee. kagami is a ball of sunshine and an angel and deserves all the happiness in the world.
but at the same time, i want him to suffer. it'll make him stronger and realize that he doesn't need his dad. i kinda hope that when kagami becomes an adult and becomes a pro that he cuts his dad out his life and gives him a big fuck you on camera.
aomine and kise definitely had a thing going on in teiko. but 111-11 happened and there was so much animosity and competitiveness that it just got in the way.
i love the misunderstandings trope so...going off that situation, aomine jumps to the wrong conclusion and thinks kise and kagami are a thing, kagami thinks that he got in the way of whatever it is aomine and kise (and due to the neglect from his dad, he's trying to hold on to all the good relationships that he has so he'll just avoid the situation. but still pines after aomine). kise is just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Kagami will rant about it to Himuro who offers to fight aomine. (he'd lose because he lost to haizaki who lost to aomine but it's the thought that counts). kuroko...hmm i think he'll get his own revenge in some way. switching mai-chan mags to another model and switching his good shoes with ones that are 2 sizes too small

a discussion of jabberwock with team interaction hcs + deeper nash analysis
for anon who asked "Can we get some headcanons for jabberwock members or like headcanons when they're together? (its okay if it was jason or nash only)" and made me realise it's about time i get these guys' personalities down
note before we start: cause i didn't know their names until i wrote this
zack is the bald one, allen is the one with a headband, nick is the other white guy apart from nash.
team hcs
nick gets bullied for being under 6ft, but not by jason
nah good old jason teases all of them for being short fucks, emphasising that they’re all 5ft tall in comparison to him
he 100% lifts things out of the others' reach and then laughs for ages after when they try get them
unfortunately though, they’re all used to this and now just ignore him. either that or nash stares at him so intensely jason actually repents and hands it back
zack’s another one with a very good glare, but he’s used it too often on jason and it’s since stopped working.
also jason gives me ‘straightens his back as much as possible when getting measured so he’ll measure in as 7ft’ vibes
oh and he thinks he could wrestle a gator and win. i’ve got no explanation for that except for the fact you can't tell me it's ooc.
allen’s very protective over his white headband - it’s his lucky item - but he’d never let anyone know that
he’s confident in his abilities like the rest of them, but there’s nothing wrong with wearing a headband just in case
(nash knows anyway)
they watch nba matches together and do not shut up once throughout the entire match - lots of jeering, booing each other if someone criticises a player they like, lots of “i could do that”, lots of “get your fucking hand out of my popcorn do you want me to punch you in the face” etc
they used to all live together, but nash has since moved out. he was sick and tired of trying to make people do chores, as the only one who kept their room clean.
yeah the others’ house looks like a heap of trash but also very much “where’s my toothbrush?” “it’s in the third coke can by the orange peel behind the sink” *silence* “yeah thanks” *a minute later* “who the fuck has been using my toothbrush”
they’re all “bro your dribbling sucks why are you on this team loser” to one another, but also very protective (aka arrogant for one another) if anyone else Dared to criticise one of their teammates
then again, what kind of person would criticise jabberwock
half of the time he spends with jabberwock, nash is a Single Mother TM trying to get a bunch of man children to behave; the other half of the time, he's just as bad as the rest of them
i talk about this a lot but i get the feeling nash is an exceptionally hard worker, but at least he gets to let his hair down around his teammates sometimes
nash is also the only person jason thought was truly ‘strong’ at first sight
and nash is also the only person who can beat jason in a fight, and also the only person who can get nash to train, and also the only person who can.. [etc. you see my point].
(n.b jason calls himself the ‘almighty me’, nash says that ‘even god can’t beat me’. point made.)
you know how jason silver’s motto is “I have never thought”
imagine him proudly stating that, before zack adds with a straight face, “yeah cause nash does it for you.”
in short, the team would fall apart without nash.
although the team’s communication and coordination is very fine tuned, nash is the guy who keeps everything in order off the court to prevent what is essentially a team of aces ('main characters', if you will) from falling apart
they hang out together a lot, but do all have other friend groups that do not overlap
team bbqs
unofficial rule not to criticise anchovies on pizza because the one time nick did, nash snapped
however pineapple on pizza is fair game, even though zack quite likes it
more than once, jason has brought a girl home and nick has stolen her attention away with effortless trick shots, funky ball manoeuvring etc
more than once nick has had to trek to nash’s place (with a black eye) at midnight to have somewhere to sleep
do you see a correlation?
oh and everyone in the team has been walked in on by nash when they were naked with some girl
nash has absolutely no shame
he apologises to the girl with a charming albeit insincere tone, and then remains standing in front of the bed/couch until his teammate does what he expected of them
usually it involves not having come to practice
allen learnt a few (emphasis on ‘few’) words of japanese before they travelled to japan and was disappointed that he never got to use them
that said, one of those words was hentai
and now a quick analysis of some panels
Tumblr media
a) so there's at least one player who wasn't underestimating vorpal swords. if i were to overanalyse, i'd add that nick's wearing a hoodie (possibly athletic wear) whilst nash has a 'fancy' shirt on; perhaps nick wasn't expecting them to be going to host clubs instead of chilling/training?
b) i know what you're thinking: "how can you say nash is a hard worker when he didn't want to practice for the match". i reckon he was still pretty high on the complete and utter success of their previous match, that plus being around girls, encouraged him to have a more 'jason-y' personality. (either that or fujimaki didn't want to add too much depth/realism into nash's character bc he's unequivocally the villain, right? and obviously this helps with the plot and the jabberwock bad geniuses gom good geniuses rhetoric.)
Tumblr media
earlier, i mentioned how nash is the only one that could keep the team together, and is thus the undeniable head of the team; here's a clear example. you can see both jason and zack have no interest in continuing - if anything, there's disgust in their faces, kinda just saying "we spat on all of japan, now we can go home". whereas nash won't allow for the slightest of possibilities that there might exist a team stronger than them, and hence agrees to the match. the key thing here is that the others do as he says without too much fuss.
another thing to note is nash's reference to harakiri. now what can we make of that, alongside his proficiency in japanese, in relation to his character? the way i see it, he's either a weeb or possibly has some japanese lineage. (you could spin that even further and say his mother was japanese, taught him the language, then abandoned him, and hence his almost excessive hatred/mockery of the japanese people.) (is that why he wanted to do another match in japan..?)
Tumblr media
just a quick point. "thanks to him" - jason isn't so superior as to think that he could win this match effortlessly without nash's support. links pretty nicely with my earlier idea about how nash is the only person jason has always considered 100% strong.
Tumblr media
yet another point about how nash is the strongest of the team in pretty much every way you can think of. you know how scary/powerful you have to be to shut jason up (after he's getting real pissed from being prevented from scoring?)
Tumblr media
i personally think this is a pretty important panel, though i've never seen anyone mention it before. did nash grow up training in a professional basketball training situation, as opposed to growing up playing streetball like i suspect the others did? well, to answer that question, imma bring in another panel.
Tumblr media
here we see visible rage on nick, zack and jason's faces - they can't accept their loss, which is fair enough. but i'd argue that nash's face seems to depict sadness more than it does anger like to rest of them, look at how downturned his mouth is - and he's looking away from the 'camera', as if hiding his shame.
when you combine that with what he says here, i have no doubt that this is someone who has experienced some proper lows in basketball - as would be expected from someone who's played 'properly'. he's possibly not even a prodigy like the rest of them - compare jason's motto with his. "i have never thought" versus "do not suppose opportunity will knock twice at your door".
there's various lines of thinking you could design with this - he might have been trained by alex (hence, himuro having heard of jabberwock, though he should have known of a team as popular of jabberwock regardless), he might have grown up with professional basketballer parents etc. but here's my own little theory:
nash received serious basketball training from early on - maybe because his parents were living vicariously through him, or maybe he always loved the sport and wanted to be no1. so there he was training away, but, as he grew older, it started getting all a bit too much.
he didn't want to dedicate his entire life to basketball. after all, his hobby is water sports and his speciality is boxing; that's a lot of different things to be keeping up with, whereas the pipeline for promising athletes demands people focus solely on basketball. as a result, nash become bitter: stopped attending practice regularly, got in trouble for trash talk of increasing severity, etc.
result was he was kicked out of the program.
only when he was no longer playing basketball again, did he realise how much he missed it. and hence he got into streetball, where he was tremendously successful as someone with so much training, 'elite skills', and the overly confident attitude to boot.
then, one fateful day, he met jason and the rest is history.

about your remnant ideas !! you mentioned there were only one or two members of class 77 who DIDNT have a deep relationship w junko, could you elaborate on that? very interested in how not being as close to junko as the others affected those specific people's remnantisms
Oooo yeah of course! Though I didn't phrase my thoughts amazingly there, I more meant not every class 77 member has a friendship/romance with Junko.
The two classmates I'm talking about there are Gundham and Nagito, since both vehemently dislike Junko for different reasons. Gundham calls her The Devil Incarnite because of her mean attitude and tendency to make fun of him, as well because of how bad she is with animals. (They dislike her)
Occasionally Junko humors Gundham though, and argues with him in the same kind of speech as he does-- and he LOVES these moments. After all, who better than the devil to argue against? He's got some grudging respect for her and the 'curse she's cast' on his class. I'd like to think Junko's royal sprite was mildly based off the persona she'd put on to argue with him.
I think like Akane, Gundham only realised the depth of his feelings for Junko after she died. And GOD what a confusing mix of emotions it is. He's convinced Junko is the embodiment of evil, but he also thinks he's irredeemable. So he thinks she sucks but like-- in the most important, ultimate way possible. Thus, he ends up forming a cult/church to give her the respect and worship she deserves-- but also to talk about how horrifying she is.
Gundham's biggest problem here is conflating his own wickedness with Junko, and declaring them both irredeemable. He's dragging himself down with her. This is why he ends up attaching her arm to him-- the arm of the Devil-- to the wrong socket, so he can never use it properly. The man with two right hands! He's decided that love is sacrifice, that Junko demands sacrifice from him, and that he must destroy everything he loves in order to appease her. This gives him some of the most unhealthy remnant relationships!
As for Nagito, this one is pretty much agreed on in the fandom-- Nagito didn't like Junko, but he also loved her. In school they were known for their Hope vs Despair arguments that would go on wayyyy too long, and their constant need to accompany each other to make sure they're not 'doing anything weird'. So they're often around each other with their weird mutual obsession, but they also very much dislike each other.
There's probably a sweet sweet parallel you could draw here about how the two people who hate Junko the most each take her arms and hands but boy I'm not sure what it is yet! Would love to do some art for that concept eventually though!
Just like with Mikan, I don't really have any revolutionary remnant Nagito thoughts? I feel like people have actually deep dived into his remnant self, so I have less to add.
HOWEVER. While we're talking about people who don't care about Junko..... HAJIME. In school he avoided her everywhere, deeply uncomfortable with her personality and general...offness. Then she visited him in the depths of Hopes Peak about the surgery and things got a little more complicated! This lines into my hc that ignores canon: Hajime is the one fronting for most of the apocalypse pre-sdr2.
And he still does NOT care about Junko. He does end up caring for class 77 though, especially since the future foundation wants him dead so bad. He'll take what he can get! This ties into my final remnant related hc here that's controversial: Nagito and Izuru only meet once pre-sdr2, and it's on the boat bringing them to Jabberwock island :))

Beach Days - Gundham Tanaka x Reader
Like every morning, the Ultimates met at the restaurant, but this morning was slightly unusual: Gundham got a note from none other than Kazuichi Soda, inviting him to meet the mechanic at the supermarket later that afternoon. Curious, Gundham made his way over, wondering what exactly did Kazuichi have in mind?
When he entered the supermarket, he wasn’t surprised to see Kazuichi standing there.
“Gundham!” Kazuichi exclaimed. “Finally, you’re here!”
“What is the meaning of this meeting, you fiend?” Gundham asked, as his hamsters peaked out from his scarf and sleeves. “Do you intend to attack the great Gundham Tanaka, Supreme Overlord of Ice?! Well, you will surely be defeated, as I am equipped with my four Dark Devas of Destruction!”
“Wh-Wha-What?! No, I’m not trying to attack you! I need your help!”
“My… help? Explain yourself at once, sinner!” boomed Gundham.
Kazuichi quickly explained that he had overheard the girls planning to go for a swim by the beach that afternoon, and he needed Gundham with him in order for it to look like a coincidence.
“Please, Gundham!” pleaded Kazuichi, “I just need to see Miss Sonia in a bikini! I’ve always loved blonde girls, this is my one shot!”
“Tch. Of course a mere mortal like you is swayed by the illusions of beauty, but I am Gundham Tanaka, bringer of true hell and chaos! I have no interest in ‘blondes’ or ‘bikinis’.”
At this, Kazuichi grinned, baring his sharp teeth. “Oh really? No interest in bikinis? Cuz, I’ve seen the way you look at Y/N, and it sure seems like you’d be interested in seeing her in one…”
A bright crimson spread across Gundham’s face, and in seconds he brought his scarf across his face. “I… wh… I, I do not understand the meaning of your words, you sinner! Y/N is a mere mortal, like yourself, and I am far too hellish to be tempted by her angelic appearance!”
Still grinning, Kazuichi replied, “If you say so! In that case, I’ll be going then, off to watch Y/N and Sonia… Man, imagine their wet, glistening bodies-”
“Silence, fiend!” interjected Gundham, blushing harder than ever. “You clearly cannot be left alone, and so I shall accompany you. Be grateful, for you are a pitiful human, in the presence of the almighty supreme overlord!”
“Whatever, Tanaka, let’s go!” exclaimed Kazuichi, and with that, they left the supermarket and made their way to the diner.
To their surprise, Fuyuhiko was already inside the diner. Gundham was acutely aware of a conversation occurring between the yakuza and the mechanic, but his mind had already drifted elsewhere, to where his thoughts always seem to drift: you.
He remembered when he first met you, on this cursed island. You had approached him, and offered a friendly handshake.
“Hi, um, I’m Y/N-”
“Silence, mortal!” he had interjected, “unless you wish to be devoured by my four Dark Devas of Destruction, I implore you to step away! For I am Gundham Tanaka, the Supreme Overlord of Ice! Remember it well, or my Dark Devas shall unleash pure pandemonium!”
“D-dark… dark devas…?” You had asked cautiously, a bit shocked by his sudden outburst. Before you knew it, a small creature had appeared on his palm.
“Behold, one of my Dark Devas, Jum-P!”
“Oh my gosh!” You squealed, “Is that a hamster?! How cute-”
“A hamster?! How dare you call my Dark Deva a… ‘hamster’!”
You had apologized quickly, then corrected yourself. “What a cute… Dark Deva..!”
He was surprised then, never before had someone acknowledged his Devas by their proper title. The sight of Jum-P had brought a smile to your face, and Gundham felt a blush creeping across his skin as he thought to himself how lovely the sight of your smile was. Immediately, he covered his face with his scarf.
“Ah, well..yes, I suppose that Jum-P is quite… ‘cute’... in this astral plane…” He cleared his throat.
“You said your name was Gundham, right? Gundham Tanaka,” you said, and the sound of his name escaping your lips was music to his ears.
“For a pitiful human such as yourself, you have a remarkable memory. Perhaps you’ve come into contact with a demon before…?” He mused, as though he were truly considering it.
“A d-demon?” you stuttered, “N-no, I’ve never come into contact with anything like that. I’m just an Ultimate [talent], after all. Yeah, that’s me, plain old Y/N L/N, the Ultimate [talent].”
“Y/N L/N,” he repeated back, “there is nothing plain about you. I, Gundham Tanaka, Ultimate Breeder and Supreme Overlord, can see it! Truly, your aura reveals all! You are no mere human, indeed.”
You laughed gently. “You’re a strange one, Tanaka. I really hope we get along.”
And with that, you left, off to greet the rest of the Ultimates on Jabberwock Island.
The pleasant memory played in his mind, as he recalled your smile and your laugh.
“Tch! Soda, you’re seriously planning to fucking ‘coincidentally’ run into the girls? You are one perverted bastard!” the yakuza exclaimed, dragging Gundham back into reality. “And you, Gundham, you’re no better!”
“I’m merely accompanying Kazuichi-” Gundham started, but he was quickly interrupted by Fuyuhiko.
“Save it, you bastard! We all know you’re here for Y/N-”
Suddenly, the door to the diner swung open, and you entered, along with Ibuki and Mikan.
“Who’s here for me?” You asked curiously, having caught the last bit of the conversation. The three males turned around to see you, standing at the entrance wearing nothing but a bikini, with Ibuki and Mikan behind you, who had both waited to change.
“Y-y/n…” Gundham muttered, before knowingly covering his blush with his scarf. Even Fuyuhiko couldn’t resist giving you a look-over: you looked damn good in a bathing suit.
“F-fuyohiko, Ka-kazuichi, a-and G-gundham?” stuttered Mikan, “W-what…. wh-what are y-you guys d-doing...here…?”
The three Ultimates were silent for a few moments, still stunned by your appearance. Irritated, Ibuki spoke up. “HELLLOOO? Earth to Kazuichi! What are you guys doing here?! Ibuki thought this was a girls-only bonding time!”
Finally, Fuyuhiko spoke up, “Fuck if I know! What, you girls own the diner or some shit? Can’t a man enjoy a meal?”
“Oh please,” you muttered. “You’re still in high school, just cause you’re a yakuza doesn’t make you a man…”
“W-What did you just say?!” exclaimed Fuyuhiko. “D-don’t fuck with me!”
“Oh, nothing!” You said quickly, earning a sly grin from Gundham.
“Ah, well,” Kazuichi began, “Gundham and I were just having a walk around the island, when we ran into Fuyuhiko at the diner, and now here you girls are! Getting ready for a swim, huh? What a great coincidence, yunno?!”
“What is this… ‘coincidence’ you speak of, mortal?” boomed Gundham. Kazuichi shot him a glare in return.
“Ah, well, I’m actually glad you guys are here! It’ll be nice to hang out with all of you,” you said sweetly. Unbeknownst to all of you, outside Hiyoko was running past with tears in her eyes.
While you all waited for the rest of the girls to show up, you walked over to Gundham.
“Hey, Tanaka!” You greeted him warmly before enveloping him into a hug. Your chest pressed against his, and it seemed as though an unhideable blush spread across his entire body.
“Y/N,” he replied coolly, trying to maintain his icy demeanor as you stepped back. “You..you shouldn’t do… *that*... it’s dangerous, for a creature like you, to come into contact with a high-level demon such as myself.” He wished you understood that an angel like you had no place around such a hellish creature like himself.
“How are the Devas?” you asked, curiously, brushing off his warnings. As if on cue, all four appeared, peeking out from his sleeves and scarf.
“Ha! As always, my Dark Devas are in excellent condition, and soon they shall unleash true terror upon this realm!”
“Ah, this is the magnificent talent of the Ultimate Breeder, and Supreme Overlord. It’s no surprise that you take excellent care of your Devas.”
The two of you talked unceremoniously, and before long the other girls arrived. Much to Kazuichi’s disappointment, Sonia had arrived in a wetsuit, but Gundham had hardly noticed her entrance. He was captivated by you, but he believed that an angel like you deserved better than a demon like him. Still, that didn’t stop his feelings for you from growing. As he stood there with you, he knew he would do anything to protect you in this killing game.
( should i do a part two? let me know! or, if you have other danganronpa requests, just ask! <3 )
EDIT: Part two is completed! Read it here :D

Behind the Scenes of “Hologram”
Today marks exactly one year since I posted arguably my most popular fic. “Hologram” is a postgame Saiouma one-shot about escapism, loneliness, and running away from the past. I put a lot of myself into this fic and I’m blown away by all the love it’s received, not only on AO3 but in Discord servers and other social media. All that excitement made me keep thinking about it, so I thought I’d share a (very self-indulgent) behind-the-scenes of sorts about how I wrote it, as well as what I think of the story.
This essay will contain spoilers for the whole fic, so if you’d like to read it first, you can find it here. Of course, if the tags scare you off, that’s valid, but you might want to skip this post too since I’ll be quoting it throughout (so, just to be safe, expect the warnings I’ve posted on AO3 to apply here too).
If you’re a Lorde fan you’ll recognize the lyrics in the fic summary – “Nothing’s wrong when nothing’s true,” from “Buzzcut Season.” The inspiration for this fic came to me while I was on my way to an early shift at work, and I needed a good song in my head to give me the will to live for the next eight hours. Not sure why I chose that song in particular, but maybe part of it is because I like imagining stories to go along with the songs I listen to, like AMVs playing in my head, and I’d never been able to pin down exactly what this song reminded me of.
The mood of the music is really what compelled me – there’s something lonely about it, and the lyrics sound like the singer’s trying to convince herself that everything’s okay even when all evidence points otherwise. There are “explosions on TV”, and “The men up on the news / They try to tell us all that we will lose,” but “we live beside the pool / Where everything is good.” Despite everything going wrong, despite the notes of fear creeping into the pre-chorus, the character will “play along… in a hologram with you” and “never go home again.”
From there, it was an easy jump to “postgame Saiou” and that was that.
There’s a cloud of seagulls hovering in the air around him, and a dozen or so more standing just out of reach, staring him down with beady black eyes. Kokichi takes a slice of bread from the loaf he’s holding and tosses it to one of the birds, watches it catch it and stumble under the weight, watches its head bob as it tries to swallow the whole thing at once. It gets remarkably far before four other birds descend on it, shrieking wildly.
“Mine, mine, mine,” he mumbles into his folded arms, wondering if Shuichi would get the reference.
He really wishes Shuichi was here.
Kokichi upends the rest of the loaf of bread onto the sidewalk and laughs at the resulting chaos until his chest aches.
To start off, I wanted to create the same lonely mood from “Buzzcut Season” in Kokichi’s simulation. He’s not exactly trapped there, but he’s refusing to leave, because as long as he’s on the fake Jabberwock Island, he can pretend the killing game never happened. The trade-off to that escapism is that the only people he can talk to are the NPCs, who aren’t complex enough to be remotely interesting to him, and Usami, who… well, tries her best, but is more of an informational / moderation program and can’t offer him what a therapist could.
The only thing Kokichi has to look forward to is Shuichi, who he’s convinced is an extremely lifelike computer program rather than the real thing, because the real Shuichi would definitely hate him for everything that happened during the killing game. He’s so locked into this line of logic that he doesn’t let himself consider that Shuichi has forgiven him – he doesn’t even have a good answer for why the Future Foundation wouldn’t just keep the supposed Shuichi AI on indefinitely, believing it’s their way of baiting him into leaving the simulation.
It’s not a healthy or sustainable lifestyle in the slightest, but Kokichi stubbornly refuses to do anything but wander the islands aimlessly, passing the time with ice cream and feeding seagulls until the next time he can see Shuichi.
He dreams that DICE is here in the simulation with him, smiling and carefree as they explore the weird music venue. One of them has gotten the karaoke machine working, and another found a box of kazoos and maracas in the back room. Kokichi already pities anyone unfortunate enough to walk by the building tonight.
“Not going to sing, Joker?” one of his DICE asks (over the sound of their youngest member shrieking through seven kazoos at once), sitting on the bench next to him.
“Some games are more fun to watch than play,” he answers, leaning back on his hands and sighing.
           “Like a killing game.”
The warm dream-atmosphere turns cold then, and Kokichi’s head snaps over to look at him—but his brother is gone and Kaito’s looking back at him instead, blood in his teeth and face ashen pale.
“You... we don’t have to do this, man,” Kaito says, but it’s a lie and they both know it, and he doesn’t want to look behind him because he knows the machine’s looming over him with its unyielding steel and slow slow slow descent—
“You’re not real,” he snaps at dream-Kaito, who doesn’t respond except to lift him up again. “Nothing’s real, none of—PUT ME DOWN! LET GO OF ME! DON’T PUT ME BACK IN THERE!”
“Death is more mercy than you deserve,” Kaito says, and Kokichi claws and bites and kicks his way out of Kaito’s grasp like a wild animal, only to end up in front of a prison cell full of—
DICE, his beloved DICE, trapped and hurt and afraid, bloodied and beaten and helpless.
“Why didn’t you save us, boss?” says his second-in-command, clutching the bars with bleeding hands. “Why didn’t you do more? Now we’re all dead and it’s because of you.”
Moments like this are my reference to Buzzcut Season’s pre-chorus, where the not-okay starts to creep into the illusion. Despite Kokichi’s valiant efforts to forget, he’s still dealing with the aftermath of seeing his family hurt and in danger, watching his friends die, orchestrating the deaths of two of them, being killed himself— and then being told every bit of it was made up to entertain an audience who sees nothing wrong with that picture. Running away is not the way to heal from trauma, and one day soon it’s all bound to come crashing down around him.
“Do you know what this … island paradise represents, Kokichi?” [Hinata] asks, and Kokichi’s really not in the mood for a lecture but he continues anyway. “Jabberwock Island … was the setting for the fiftieth season of Danganronpa. The golden anniversary, they called it. It was my season.”
Kokichi hunches over, hugging his arms over his torso and stifiling a scream. He does not want to think about this right now—
“They wanted it to be the best season of all, which, unfortunately for us, meant it was also the bloodiest,” Hinata says. “Twice as many participants, deadly traps hidden across each of the islands— they even changed the way the motives worked, like when they told Fuyuhiko to cut out his own eye so Peko could have a quick death instead of suffering for days.”
“Do I look like your therapist, porcupine-head?” Kokichi hisses. A sharp pain is pounding into his skull, and there’s a bitter, metallic taste at the back of his throat. A taste like poison and blood.
“There was so much going on that the simulation malfunctioned,” Hinata says. “When people died, their Ultimate talents downloaded themselves into me. I’m told that the stress of so many personality grafts came close to liquefying my frontal lobe. I’m lucky I woke up at all… especially considering more than half of the others didn’t.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Kokichi grates out through the static building in his head. If he opens his eyes, will he see the beach or the dull chrome of the machine closing in on him?
“Because I know how much you want to forget about what happened,” Hinata says. “Believe me, I get it.”
           ….
“These things that happened to us… we can’t erase them, no matter how much we want to. Some things have to be remembered.”
I’d mostly like to leave Hajime’s season up to interpretation, but there are a couple things I wanted to say about it. I imagine Danganronpa is like the Hunger Games in that it’d go all out for big anniversaries. So, there were twice as many participants for the Jabberwock Island beatdown that was probably subtitled “Bloodbath Bay” or something equally appealing. The game’s formula changed from a focus on the mystery and the trials to “look at all these kids massacring each other a la Lord of the Flies,” and since the VR system wasn’t equipped to handle that many people and their deaths, it malfunctioned, giving Hajime way too many Ultimate talents and putting half the cast into comas from which they never woke up.
Viewers either absolutely loved or absolutely hated this season, depending on whether they were DR fans because of the “blood n’ guts” factor or the “mystery and psychological thriller” aspect. Team Danganronpa faced quite a bit of backlash for actually causing the real-life deaths of half its participants, but were able to weasel their way out of serious legal repercussions because of the waivers the participants had signed beforehand (plus a lot of bribery and falling back on their longstanding popularity). So, the cast of Season 50 failed to end the killing game, but helped provide great evidence for the “Danganronpa is morally wrong” argument.
Hajime works as a victim liaison for the Future Foundation and has been trying to take down Danganronpa since he got out of it. He’s like that in a few of my fics, actually; I like the idea of Hajime acting as a big brother of sorts to the V3 cast. It’s especially entertaining to imagine his interactions with Kokichi— though maybe not so much in Hologram, since to Kokichi he’s a representation of the past he’s trying so desperately to forget and the future he refuses to acknowledge.
“SHUT UP!” He launches himself at Hinata, his hands wrapping around the other man’s throat as he uses his momentum to slam him to the ground. “SHUT! UP!”
“Ko— ghk—” Hinata coughs, eyes wide with surprise, but aside from moving his hands up to grip Kokichi’s wrists, he doesn’t seem all that worried about fighting back.
The thought only fuels Kokichi’s rage until he’s choking Hinata so hard his knuckles are white. “If you want me out of this simulation so badly, you can kill me,” he snarls. “I’m never waking up! I’m never leaving, do you UNDERSTAND ME?”
Hinata grimaces, the outline of his avatar flickering, but he still doesn’t struggle, and Kokichi hates him all the more for it, despises him with a seething malice that festers low in his stomach. He wonders distantly if he’d actually kill this man in real life. Or if he’d be able to stop himself, feeling like this.
Kokichi’s breakdown here is more out of fear than anger. Like I mentioned, Kokichi sees Hajime as another piece of what’s hurt him, and no matter how Hajime tries to help, Kokichi will always remember Danganronpa whenever he sees him.
Warm yellow-orange light casts a relaxed, cozy glow over the dining hall. It’s an ambience compounded by the flickering candles on the table, which seems overly idyllic, but Kokichi will let it slide because of the adorable way Shuichi flushed when he noticed them as they sat down. Well, if he’s being honest, everything about Shuichi right now is adorable, from the way his hair keeps falling into his eyes to the way he’s nervously fiddling wth his chopsticks. Kokichi wishes he could keep staring at him forever.
Ah, not… not in a weird way, though, just… because Shuichi’s beautiful, and when Kokichi looks at him he can forget everything bad that’s ever happened, can create some new and brighter world to exist in.
This is an idea I wish I’d had room to explore a bit more in the story— that is, just how far Kokichi will go to pretend everything’s fine. I thought about making him border on delusional, like having him talk to people who aren’t there or forget what’s actually happening around him because he’s so lost in his fiction-within-a-fiction. It would have creeped Shuichi out a whole lot.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much room for that past the plot I’d already nailed down, so I focused on his loneliness and escapism instead. I do touch on it later in this scene, though— the couple paragraphs where he slips into fantasizing about being a phantom thief having a surreptitious meeting with his detective under the not-so-subtle supervision of his DICE. There would have been a lot more of that if I’d gone with the ‘delusion’ stylistic choice, to the point where even the readers would be confused about what’s real. Maybe I’ll look into writing something similar in a future story.
Eventually, Shuichi sets down his bowl and looks away with a little sigh, and Kokichi clenches his teeth because that’s the sigh he does when it’s time for that conversation.
           “Um… Kokichi?”
Kokichi’s only response is to exhale the breath he’d been holding in a quiet hiss.
“I-I know you don’t want to, but… but I really need to talk to you about something,” Shuichi says. “Please?”
“My Mr. Detective can talk about whatever he’d like!” Kokichi says with a lilt to his tone that makes it sound more sarcastic than he wants it to. He takes the last bite of curry and wishes that it burns hot enough to hurt.
           “It’s about Kaito.”
This more serious part of the date scene is meant to reflect the little bridge in “Buzzcut Season”:
“Cola with the burnt-out taste
I’m the one you tell your fears to
There’ll never be enough of us.”
It’s a part of the song that sounds especially bittersweet to me, a bit of self-awareness between the insistence that everything’s okay.
Really all I think I managed was to reference it when Kokichi’s internal dialogue comments on his drink being “so sweet it tastes burnt” and then later not tasting like anything. But hopefully the mood’s still there.
“Tell him… that I have nothing against him,” he says.
           “That’s … not a lie?” Shuichi presses.
Kokichi shakes his head idly, still not raising his gaze. “I wanted to wreck the killing game and he wanted to save his friend. We both got what we wanted. I’d say the end more than justifies the means.”
           Was that a lie?
(I don’t want to die Shuichi I’m sorry I’m sorry save me Shuichi please I’m sorry ithurtsmakeitstop—)
His fingers tighten into clawlike shapes, nails digging sharply into his forearms.
I really don’t think Kokichi would have anything against Kaito, even if here he’s not being completely honest with how much he’s affected by what happened. It wouldn’t make sense to him to hate Kaito for something he himself proposed, but I think there’d still be a subconscious barrier between them. Too much history.
“Don’t go, Shuichi, I’m so sorry, I— that was so dumb, what I said, please don’t be sad anymore.” He’s not sure if he can’t breathe because of the exertion of running or because of the hysteria boiling over in his head. “Please don’t go, I didn’t mean to hurt you— please don’t leave, Shuichi, I’m so sorry.”
“Oh, Kokichi….” Shuichi’s tone is strange, soft and pitying, like he sees something Kokichi doesn’t, and he shakes his head slowly as more tears follow the paths of the others.
Kokichi goes to his knees, ready to grovel if that’s what it takes, but Shuichi follows him down, closing his other hand over Kokichi’s, and then they’re both crying and he doesn’t know why, and all he can do is repeat a mantra of I’m sorry and hold on as tight as he can.
It’s horrible. Shuichi’s horrible. Shuichi’s wonderful, and kind and lovely and perfect and Kokichi hates him, Kokichi adores him, and it doesn’t matter because Shuichi’s not actually here but Kokichi doesn’t want to be alone, just let me pretend some more, please, please let me have this—
“I’ll… I’ll stay,” Shuichi says at last. “I can stay a while longer.”
You shouldn’t, Kokichi wants to say, but his mouth won’t obey him. You shouldn’t stay if you don’t want to. I don’t deserve having you here. I’m not worth your mercy.
But there on the bridge, crying tears of relief, he soaks up as much mercy as he can get and hopes it’s enough to drown him.
I wanted to create a contrast between them that highlights just how the isolation and trauma Kokichi’s experiencing has affected him. He has an almost unhealthy reliance on Shuichi as “the only thing that makes this world bearable,” and panics when faced with the prospect of being alone again so soon. Part of why Shuichi’s crying is because he’s realized the extent of Kokichi’s desperation. It’s not that he thinks Kokichi’s apology is insincere, but that he’s hardly heard him apologize for anything before, so Kokichi going this far has him realizing how bad things really are.
The door rumbles and slides open when they approach, revealing the bright light of the log-out point that took Shuichi away every time, that would wake Kokichi up in his real body if he walked into it. Shuichi stops just a step away from it, biting his lip as if searching for something to say, but before he can find it, Kokichi reaches out to tug at his sleeve.
“Shuichi?” he says, distant as the waves on the beach that he can still hear if he listens closely enough. Shuichi turns back toward him. “Before you go, can I be selfish one more time?”
           “Huh…?”
Shuichi doesn’t move when Kokichi steps closer, reaches up to ghost his fingertips over Shuichi’s jaw and around the back of his neck. He lets Kokichi tilt his head downward, lets him hover inches away, close enough to feel their breath mingle in the night air. Kokichi pauses there to give him the chance to pull away. He doesn’t.
So Kokichi closes his eyes and the distance between them.
That last line is a ZEUGMA! It’s a literary device where one word refers to two more in a different way. A popular example is the hyenas’ line “Our teeth and ambitions are bared” from The Lion King. It’s my favorite grammatical trick and I’d love to see more of it in fanfic.
Slowly, he slides his hand down to Shuichi’s shoulder, using it as leverage to push himself away. That hurts even more. He can’t seem to open his eyes, and he feels so weakened, breathless, fragile. Cracked open, hollowed out.
When he finally does open his eyes, Shuichi’s are wide with some mix of astonishment and a dozen other emotions. Kokichi bows his head, taking a deep breath to ground himself. “Sorry,” he whispers. “I just wanted to know.”
“Kokichi,” Shuichi breathes, like a bullet through his heart.
“Goodbye, Shuichi,” Kokichi says, and shoves him into the light.
Shuichi’s little yelp of surprise cuts off abruptly as he falls through the door, vanishing into the glow, and all too soon, Kokichi’s alone again in a dream that suddenly seems far too vast. Alone, with the faintest taste of Shuichi’s lips still lingering on his own.
And he thinks, It was enough just to know you.
           It’s a lie.
Nothing to say here except that this is my favorite scene and I’m so happy with how it turned out.
Fake sun rises over fake ocean, fake seagulls glide through fake sky while fake wind tousles fake palm fronds. Kokichi lies on his stomach in the fake grass and talks to his fake family in the fake notebook. Gives them fake names and runs through everything he remembers about them. Apologizes, over and over, wishes he could hug each of them goodbye one last time. Wonders if it would be more painful to die or to never have existed at all.
He leaves the notebook of his memories on the seat of one of the Ferris wheel cars on the fourth island, because one time he promised them they’d steal the London Eye together.
He buys a can of fake soda from the fake convenience store on the first island and sits on the fake beach watching the fake waves. Wonders when he’d hit the end of the simulation if he started swimming, or if he’d drown first.
White sand, blue sea, bluer sky. Washed out, like an amateur watercolor painting.
He opens the soda can and raises it to his mouth, but … even the thought of drinking it makes him sick to his stomach. He sets it down in the sand and flicks it over, watching the bubbly liquid run down and sink into the sand. The color’s all wrong, like blood streaked against a metal floor.
He walks the fake streets of the fifth island, passing fake skyscrapers and fake commuters and their fake conversations, until he finally stops outside the factory he’s never been able to bring himself to go into. Smells like oil, and metal and machines and he can hear the sounds and he’s immediately back in the hangar, dizzy on adrenaline and desperation and leaning heavily on Kaito so he doesn’t keel over and die then and there. Kaito says something about how maybe he should sit down for a minute, and Kokichi didn’t agree back then but he does now, goes down on all fours and dry heaves.
When his vision solidifies and he can stop gasping for breath, he sits up and presses his back against the factory wall, covering his ears and hiding his face in his knees. Tries to convince himself not to imagine Shuichi’s there with him, holding his hand again, promising everything’s going to be okay.
“I’ve got you. No one’s going to hurt you anymore,” or maybe, “Breathe with me, it’ll be over soon. You’re safe now.”
           I love you.
He laughs until there’s nothing left in his lungs. He called these little daydreams obsession, before, but now they just seem sick and insane.
I wanted to indicate throughout this scene that Kokichi’s gotten substantially worse. Instead of halfheartedly interacting with the NPCs or finding something to spend time doing, he’s aimlessly wandering the islands, focused on how fake all of it is. Not even talking to his sketches of DICE can make him feel better. The suicidal ideation starts to slip in even if he doesn’t realize it— a fixation on wondering what death is like, purposefully triggering himself by walking by the factory….
The thing I want to talk about most though is the italicized I love you. I left it outside of quotation marks and dialogue tags on purpose because I wanted it to be ambiguous as to who’s saying it. If it’s Kokichi’s line, it’s sudden and almost out of place, like he couldn’t hold back from thinking it anymore. But it could be Shuichi saying it, too. Since it’s outside quotation marks, unlike the previous dream-Shuichi lines, it’s more vague, almost a whisper in Kokichi’s thoughts— like he can barely bring himself to imagine it and even feels guilty doing so, because there’s no way it could possibly be real.
           Which do you think?
Eh, I don’t have an answer. When I hear it in my head, they say it at the same time.
“How did you know?” he finally croaks.
Shuichi’s breathing still sounds shaky, too. “Because you said ‘goodbye,’” he says.
Kokichi finally looks up at him in a silent question.
“You never say goodbye,” Shuichi says, rubbing his sleeve over his eyes. “It’s always….”
“‘See you later,’” Kokichi finishes for him. Despite himself, a tiny huff of astonished laughter escapes him. “I didn’t even know, not until a couple of hours ago. And you figured it all out from one word?”
Shuichi bites his lip at that. “You kissed me,” he says.
Kokichi’s stomach twists and he looks away. “I said I was sorry—”
“No.” Shuichi squeezes his hand into a fist and lets it fall to thump against Kokichi’s chest, like he’s trying to knock some sense into him. “It was so honest, and vulnerable, and… and I know how much you hate showing how you really feel.” Another tiny sob catches in his throat. “And so it felt like … like something you’d do if you weren’t going to s-see me again.”
“Shuichi….” Kokichi trails off as Shuichi muffles his cries in his hand again. He’s so breathtakingly smart. There’s no one else in the world who thinks that way, no one else who could possibly be that attentive and that clever. Not a programmer, not a team of shrinks… how can an AI manage it? How is it that Shuichi always manages to take him by surprise? How can he see straight through him when he least expects it?
Kokichi’s hand reaches up to Shuichi’s cheek. Reverently traces the path of the tears falling down it.
“I wish you were real,” he confesses in a whisper.
Kokichi’s stubborn. So, so stubborn. And he’s not used to being cared about, if the way he does everything by himself is any indication. So it makes sense to me that he’ll refuse to believe anything good can happen to him even in the face of convincing evidence. He’s pretty self-hating for someone so arrogant.
Kokichi’s weak, deep down to his core, weak for this man. Already knows he’d do anything for him, and the thought is terrifying—that one person could have that much power over him, even if he doesn’t realize it.
But what if he has realized it? Couldn’t this all be an elaborate ruse, a lie he knew Kokichi would be so desperate to believe that he wouldn’t bother questioning it?
…Shuichi’s never hurt him, though. Only that one time, when he really deserved it. Shuichi wouldn’t … betray him, even for what he thinks is Kokichi’s own good. They’re… different from each other, that way.
           But still….
“I’m so scared, Shuichi.” It’s barely a whisper. “I don’t want to be alone anymore.”
“You won’t be.” It’s so hard to be skeptical, lost in his eyes. “I’ll be right there with you, for as long as you want. I won’t let you feel like this anymore.”
Promise me, he wants to blurt out. Promise you’ll stay. Promise me you’ll never leave me, Shuichi, he wants to demand, but that’s wrong, that’s manipulative and selfish and everything he doesn’t want to be for Shuichi anymore.
Shuichi, of course, says it anyway.
           “I promise, Kokichi.”
…
“Kiss me again,” he says. “Please?”
Shuichi leans in close, then pauses, his brow furrowing the way it does when he catches him in a lie.
“I’ll kiss you again in the real world,” Shuichi says. “Okay?”
Kokichi shakes his head. “Shuichi, please.” Please, I don’t think I can do this. Please, I don’t want to wake up to a lie. Please, one last kiss for me to remember in case it was all fake.
Shuichi reaches out to tilt his chin up and Kokichi closes his eyes, savoring every second, burning it into his memory.
Shuichi’s soft breath ghosts over his lips.
           “Trust me,” he murmurs.
Kokichi’s eyes flutter back open, searching his face. Shifting him around on the white board in his head, seeing what categories he fits into this time. Weird, of course. Suspicious, maybe not. Trustworthy?
           Trustworthy….
“I do trust you,” he realizes.
Kokichi’s still hesitant to accept all of this— Shuichi kissing him didn’t magically fix everything. He’ll still doubt all the way to the log-out point, but at least now he realizes that this simulation is only hurting him— that if things are to get better they’re going to have to change, too. He’s got a long way to go before he’s all right, but he’s not going to have to face it alone anymore.
             And that’s a wrap!
Once again, I’m really proud of this story, and I feel like I grew as a writer because of it. There are a few things I would change if I wrote it again, but for all its flaws it’s still my baby and I like how it turned out.
Thanks again for all your support for “Hologram,” and thanks even more if you actually waded through all this nonsense of a director’s cut. It’s a huge confidence-boost to think that people liked what I wrote, and even wanted to hear what I had to say about it. If there’s any interest, I’d love to review some of my other fics here, or theorize or brainstorm or whatever else  you’re into. (Ask me what Byakuya’s Thing is in my superhero AU, I dare you 😉)
I do have a WIP in my folder of bits and pieces currently titled “boy finally gets that kiss”, and it’s a post-Hologram scene from Shuichi’s point of view to just sorta… tie it all together, have them talk things over again… and kiss, of course. We’ll see if anything comes out of that.
           Until next time!

Bluemarine
More Ghost AU writing, this time around the time Makoto is trying to find the Renmants.
The smell of the ocean breeze could be something soothing in these chaotic times, someone could say. Makoto looks at the cloudy sky, luckily devoid of the red smog that surrounds everything since the Tragedy became something global, unlike those first months, where the Despair were only located within Japan. The attack to Novoselic by it's own heir to the throne was the wake-up call that signaled the beginning of Junko's reign of terror for the rest of the world.
The sight-seeing is interrupted by a voice, moving the luckster's attention to a figure, whom was all the trip trying to ignore the fact they're in the middle of the ocean.
"When we are going to arrive to that island? I can't handle it anymore"
Makoto looks between the fidgeting ghost and the silhouette of the island. "We're going to arrive in two minutes". Makoto looks as the ghost visibly relaxes.
After all, drowning in the middle of the ocean had to leave some mental scars.
Then, Makoto hears footsteps behind him. The lavender-haired woman stops besides him, looking at the sea.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kyoko looks at him. "Using the Neo World Program to save the Remnants?"
He sighs "I'm sure". His gaze is still fixated at the ocean. "Everyone deserves a second chance. Even them" Then, he looks at Kyoko.
She chuckles "As optimistic as always, Naegi"
"Well, it's my only positive quality"
---
Makoto grabs a chair and he sits. They are already in Jabberwock Island, inside the building where the Neo World Program was made. Alter Ego already told them that the "Teacher" AIs were finished: One of them being a rabbit, but the other was only a blank state. They were told that, when all the Remnants were put in the simulation, it would take the form of someone who all the Remnants knew and loved.
Now the important part was finding the Remnants.
"So, what was the plan again?"
Makoto looks at Utsuro, who is looking at the people that Byakuya hired to help them with the plan.
"We find the Remnants, and we talk with them, to see if they accept the Rehabilitation Program"
The ghost looks at him with an deadpan expression. "The Remnants are crazily loyal to Junko Enoshima and you pretty much killed her in their eyes. I'm sure that asking nicely isn't gonna do anything"
"But they don't deserve to die" Makoto clenches his fists. "They were once normal students that laughed, loved and had fun, until Enoshima got into their lives. If there's a way to save them, I will gladly use it"
"Even if it's more brainwashing?"
Makoto grimaces. "Yeah..." He puts a hand on his face. "I didn't wanted to resort to this, but..."
The two of them fall into silence.
Utsuro starts talking again "The rest of the Foundation is going to kill you if they discover this. They already distrust you because of me"
"It's a risk I'm willing to take, Utsuro"
And the room falls in silence again, only the sound of the keyboards making itself known.

Oooh so you have the mind you had after you died on Jabberwock, got it. Yeah, at the moment you’re in a M!A where you’re a ghost and in reality you’re in a relationship with Hajime. He loves you a lot so he had a meltdown when he thought you were dead and even considered following you into death.
Tumblr media
"Ahahaha! Now I know that's not true. Are you trying to play a joke on me? It's a cruel joke, but that's alright. I'm sure I deserve it. I don't mind being the butt of a joke if it entertains you. I can pretend to believe it if you'd like, but I know it's not true. Hajime would never be in a relationship with me. He could never love me, and definitely not love me enough to mourn me if I died, and definitely not mourn me enough to consider dying too. He values his life a lot, much more than he values mine, which is how it should be. He hated me when I died. I'm sure he never wanted to see me again as long as he lived, and now he won't have to. I must be haunting my parents' house now, and Hajime has no reason to come here. Some other family must have moved in recently though, because it's decorated a lot differently than I remember it being. They have a really cute dog and cat!"

Hii uuh can I get a S/O trying to cheer up a sad teruteru on his birthday 🥺
You made a quick stop at the Rocketpunch Market early in the morning, spending all your monocoins on the vending machine.
Today was Teruteru's birthday and you wanted to surprise him at his cottage with some gifts. So you got up earlier than the morning announcement and headed over to the market. It had just about everything you needed--even boxes and ribbons, so you made makeshift presents out of those.
Once you were done, you concealed them in your bag before heading back to the hotel site, hearing the announcement playing on the store’s monitor on your way out.
You were eager to see his reaction--though you were more eager to spend the day with him.
You arrived at his cottage, seeing his cute pixelated face on the mailbox. For a moment, you considered putting the presents in it instead, though you quickly retracted that idea as the door slowly opened.
“Hey, Teru. Happy bir--”
But as you went to greet your boyfriend, you stopped as you realized his posture was slumped. And he was looking down at the floorboards, sniffling.
“Teru, honey?” Your voice turned softer in worry.
“A-Ah! [Y/n]?!” Glancing up, he was surprised to see you there. But he quickly rubbed his puffy, watery eyes with his neckerchief, trying to act like he wasn’t crying. “Um...I-”
“What happened, hun?” A frown appeared on your face.
“I'm okay, cupcake. Don't...don't w-worry.." His voice got choked up. "I have to get to the kitchen a-and-”
“That can wait.” You shook your head. “It’s your birthday, I think you deserve the day off. Everyone else can fend for themselves. Let’s just go back in and talk about it, okay?”
Teruteru seemed hesitant, but when he realized he couldn't convince you otherwise, he slowly nodded his head, opening the door to his cottage once more and allowing you inside.
Once you entered, you set your bag down, although you were startled by the sound of loud sobbing as you turned back to see him sitting on the bed now, crying into his hands.
Your heart broke as you wondered what could've made him feel this way--not only this early in the morning but on his birthday, of all days. So you walked over and knelt in front of him, wrapping your arms around him. “Shhhh, it’s okay, sugar. It’s okay.”
He clung to you tightly, sobbing into your shoulder as his small body trembled violently. You just hushed him softly, waiting patiently for him to calm down.
When he finally did after a minute or two, you gently pulled away from the embrace, cupping his round, wet face and brushing away the tears. “Please tell me what's wrong, hun..I’m here for you.” You pleaded.
“I-I...I just..” He hiccuped, trying to keep himself together. “I miss home so damn much...I never missed a-a birthday where I wasn’t with my mama. And to be stuck here with people who...who hated me a-an'....said they didn’t even care m-mah birthday was today...i-it hurts. It just hurts a lot.”
As he explained the reason for his breakdown, you became absolutely infuriated.
Of course, he did make others uncomfortable sometimes, but he’s been more respectful to everyone ever since you two started dating; he made efforts to genuinely be a good boyfriend, chef, and classmate.
‘And this is how they repay him?’ You thought bitterly, though suppressed that rage and gave him a kiss. “When did they say that?”
“L-Last night when we...talked ‘bout how we all got a birthday for every month. And I said: ”h-hey, I’m up next on September 2nd!” But they said...they didn’t care and will just skip right on over to October...w-with Sonia’s birthday. They said it to my face.”
“Teru..why didn’t you tell me?”
“It ain’t worth the trouble, [y/n]. I thought they were just jokin’ around..and I-I went to bed tryin’ not to worry. But as you can plainly see....that backfired.” He sniffled, tears welling in his eyes again. “I guess everyone still h-hates me that much..”
You sighed softly, shaking your head. There's no way you'd let him spend the day sad like this.
“Not everyone, sweetie. I got you some gifts from the market.”
The chef perked up, blinking in surprise. “You did?”
“Yeah! Lemme get them.” With a smile you jumped up and retrieved your bag, taking out the presents before sitting next to him on the bed. “Here. I hope you like what’s inside of them.”
Typically, this is the part where he’d make a random suggestive remark, but obviously he wasn’t in the mood to do that. So instead he opened the gifts, and he was amazed at what they were:
A bag of Jabberwock’s natural salts, a “Rose in Vitro”--which was just a rose in a pretty bottle--and a pair of Bojobo Dolls.
He looked at the gifts for a few moments more, and then back at you, a huge smile on his face as he laughed. “Thank you so much, sugarplum. I-I love them all!” He hugged you tightly, sniffling. “At least one person still cares for me."
“I’ll have a friendly chat with the others later on.” You held him close, happy to see that he was back to his cheerful-self. “You wanna sleep in? It’s your day, after all..so it’s up to you.”
“Y'know, I was thinkin’ the same thing.” He agreed. “We can sleep in, cuddle a bit, and just...be reeaaal close to each other~?” He winked.
Yep. That was your Teruteru alright.

Tumblr media
so you guys became a couple some weeks before the Shutoku vs Rakuzan game
during the first few days of your life as a couple, he’d be quite cold and indifferent towards you
the question whether he harbored some/any feelings for you did arise quite often, but you decided to hold back on asking him that, figuring that basketball might’ve been more important at that time
when his team lost the match it was quite shocking for you, so imagining how he - the undefeated emperor - must've felt was nearly impossible
.
on your way out of the arena, your phone buzzed in your pocket/bag
1 new message from Akashi ♡
for a mere second, you didn't even want to look at the SMS, afraid of what he might have sent you, but in the end, you did open it nonetheless
(Y/N)...could you wait for me at the stairs, where I met the Generation of Miracles before? I'll be there as soon as I can. - Akashi
with a sigh, you obliged and went there waiting for your boyfriend
much to your surprise he was there first and was nervously fiddling with his jacket - an image you weren’t used to
“Akashi?“
“(Y/N)...?“
on that day you found out about his biggest secret (aka. the second personality)
at first, it was quite shocking and unrealistic, but how else were you going to explain the change in his eye color as well as the 180-degree switch in his personality?
your boyfriend had just gone from ‘ah yes this is (Y/N), my current lover’ to ‘mom, dad, this is (Y/N), the love of my life with whom I’m going to spent my time with until the day I die’
during the entire conversation, he continuously apologized for his past behavior, swearing that he’d change and shower you with just the right amount of love you deserved
“Akashi, I really appreciate it, but could you at least give me a day to think about it?”, you asked right after he had requested something like a ‘restart’ for your relationship
with a nod and a soft embrace the two of you parted ways on that night
after that talk, you decided to give him another chance and since then he was indeed different...
.
..
it all started off with basic things
asking how you’re feeling through SMS became a daily ritual for the two of you
he even made sure to go out on a date with you once per week and it was always someplace different/new
you watched all kinds of movies at the cinema, both new and old
and what you found out about him was that he loved detective type of movies
Akashi would always put a finger on his chin and seriously try to figure out who the culprit is
next on the list were various pastry shops and bakeries
he’d introduce you to those he loved the most and would buy something that you wanted to eat as well as something he recommends/wants you to try out
when you finally decide on a favorite out of all, he’d order for them to prepare something small for you at least twice/trice a week
“Is my sweetheart awake yet?”
Akashi would wake you up with the softest voice he could muster and bring you your breakfast on a tray
on other days when you are the one to wake up first, you’d go down to the kitchen and begin the preparations for a joint breakfast
but no matter how silent you try to be, your boyfriend always manages to catch you in the act and surprise you with a back hug
of course, as his girlfriend you’ll try and engage in activities he’s found of
one example was horseback riding
the first time you heard that his family owns some horses you were beyond surprised
he let you pick one out and the moment you chose his own horse, your boyfriend couldn’t help but chuckle at how similar your tastes were
by the end of the day, you had almost reached the level of the redhead and his riding skills
you were even proud of the fact that there were no mishaps e.g falling from the horse, but with Akashi by your side that was to be expected
hanging out at his mansion was nothing new to you now, but some months back you couldn’t even take one step inside of it, afraid that you might dirty the flawlessly cleaned floor
with your luck, you even got to meet his father on that exact same day
at first, he appeared quite cold and uninterested in who you were, but the moment you told him his name his attitude changed
during the typical ‘so dad, this is (Y/N), the person I’ve been dating for some time...’ he managed to keep his CEO-like facade and aura up
but when his son left to get you three some drinks and snacks he was a changed man
his father took your hands in his and squeezed them while he thanked you multiple times for making Akashi smile every day, for helping him out when he most desperately needed it, for loving him that much despite his “condition” and for simply staying by his side without any ulterior motives
you were so flabbergasted after the sudden shower of compliments that the rest of the conversation was a complete blur
.
the memory you were most fond of with him was the night of his birthday
you had baked some winter-themed cookies and had prepared an entire dinner for him so that when he comes back all he had to do was sit down and enjoy the feast
after your guys’ hunger was satisfied, the two of you sat down in front of your fireplace, cuddling with each other and laughing about the past
“You know Akashi...back then when you guys went against Jabberwock and you changed back I was actually a tad worried.“, you confessed with a silent voice while the burning fire enhanced your soft facial features
said man just buried his fingers in your hair and gently caressed your head, symbolizing that he was listening to you
your boyfriend waited a short while for you to continue, but you didn’t so he softly kissed your temple and asked: “Worried about...?“
“Worried that you might revert back to your old closed-off self...“
a sad smile adored his features since he knew what you meant with it
back when he still had his ‘emperor personality’ he almost never relied on you
your words of affection and encouragement meant almost nothing to him back then
but much to your surprise he didn’t change at all afterward
Akashi stayed the same and became even more soft and affectionate than you would’ve expected
day after day he thanked you for the love you’ve given him as well as your persistence to stay with him - no matter what

Can you gush all of them, please? Did we really miss something?😲 PLEASE! I'M BEGGING YOU! Is this what you want? Well you finally got it. I'm begging. Please for the love of God let us get to know more about it. Please God damnit!)
Ayyyy! Nice reference!
"PLEASE! I'm begging you Muffet! Is this what you want? Well you finally got it. I'm begging. Please for the love of God let me see her. Please God damnit."
Excerpt from 50
In the wise words of Ms. Muffet... “Get up.”
This post contains soft spoilers.
Tumblr media
🌍 World building! 🌍
"Mhm… it's all artificial. A marriage of science and magic. Like those stars… not real. They're wishing stones. They're supposed to relay messages, times and dates… but everyone just kind of likes looking at them. Makes the nights down here not so bad, you know?"
Excerpt from 21
Trivia hour:
The fake moon and sun of the Underground was built by Dr. Gaster! Basically, there are these two large lamps that scale a glass dome at the tip top of the hollow mountain. This glass dome also has the "wishing stones" aka the fake stars that blink and relay messages via light morse code. There are entire jobs dedicated to deciphering the messages. It's mostly maintenance, nothing of any political importance.
The faux moon and sun only appear in Snowden and the Capitol. The other districts are pretty submerged in the deep caverns of the underground.
I basically created this system because when I was writing I wanted beautiful sunset imagery because nothing to me is more romantic than sunsets, and I realized— “Oh shit! They're underground!...hmmmm” and then I cracked my writer knuckles and started worldbuilding!
It also paints a clear contrast between the surface and the underground. Frisk herself is in complete awe of the inner mechanics and workings of the Underground, and she is willing to completely start over and a live a life down there. Meanwhile the monsters want... Real sunlight. They want real stars. They want the surface. They want freedom.
Freedom for Frisk is completely different to freedom for the monsters, which will be shown in a future scene.

🥀 Frans 🥀
She couldn't remember who moved first, but one second they had been trapped in a staring contest, the next, she was pressed against him, his teeth biting desperately at her lips. She melted in his embrace, her soul humming with content, as if this was where she was always meant to be.
They staggered back against the counter, and she moaned softly into his mouth as he pressed against her. They couldn't be close enough. They drove each other crazy. She didn't understand the craving they had for each other, but she definitely knew it was there. God, she needed him. For that moment she forgot that she was supposed to be mad.
Excerpt from 31
God. These two can't control themselves when they're around each other and it only gets... worse? Better ( ? ) in part 4. Like seriously guys, they can't get their hands off each other. It's well deserved in my humble opinion. Sometimes I'm a little worried that y'all will get annoyed with how much they kiss but then I'm like “why would they get annoyed??? That's like... The whole reason they're reading this...🥴”
Yeah I read WDYW for the plot.
The plot:
Tumblr media
OOOH, Actually there's a scene in 62 between the two of them that's so sweet. I actually got the inspiration for it when I was rewatching Hunger Games Catching Fire. 😌 (God it's so good)
Also— Oh my God guys... Guys... Chapter 64. They are so powerful. That's all I'mma say. Be looking forward to it. Power couple to the max.
💀 Gasters 💀
ACK I wrote a flashback scene in Papyrus's pov and my girlfriend and I were both like 🥺🥺😭😭 because of how heartbreaking it. Soooo just be prepared for sad skeleton boy hours.
Another thing I want to just kind of joke about is this; how do the skeletons even talk? I like to think I'm at least semi realistic with my portrayal of the skeletons. One day I was literally on a hike and I was mouthing a scene to myself (as one does) and I say the word "bitch" (don't ask) and I suddenly stop and I'm like. “Bitch... Bitch ... Bah...BAH” (say Bitch slowly out loud lol) and I was like "SHIT YOU NEED LIPS TO MAKE THE BAH SOUND!” and I had an existential crisis for like the entire rest of my hike.
Anyway, the Skeleton brothers use magic for everything. That's how the undertale fandom waves away all illogical worldbuilding holes. “Oh? How do the skeletons make the Bah sound without lips? That's easy, ✨ magic ✨ ”
💅🏻 Villains 💅🏻
Ugghhhh MUFFET is diabolical, but in Part 4 she does take a step back because Part 4 is Asgore's time to shine.
"You and your skeletons would do well to remember that this is my kingdom . And if you challenge me in my kingdom, or make promises you can't keep, you will suffer. I'll make sure of it. Keep this in mind Moxie , I like to play with my food."
Excerpt from 40
And BOY does he fulfill his promises. We do get to see more of his interactions with Alphys, which I'm excited to write.
I actually really love writing him. He has this affinity for poetry so any chance I feel that it's appropriate to have a little poem, I write one or I find a famous old poem written by Lewis Carroll or Edgar Allen Poe or something like that. In fact I have it as canon that Asgore would read Asriel a shit load of poems, and their favorite was Lewis Carroll and his nonsense poems like the Jabberwocky.
Papyrus watched with an unbreaking gaze as Asgore flipped through the pages of a book.
"Ah… here's a good one. Beware the Jabberwock, my son. The jaws that bite, the claws that catch…  beware the jubjub bird and shun the frumious bandersnatch… do you read poetry, Lieutenant?"
Except from 28
That's all I've got for this post! I'll do some more gushing for other asks, but thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to rant about absolutely nothing!

Title: The Flowers That Had Torn Them Apart
Author: @gravestone-monarch (Grave)
For: @creepioz
Pairings/Characters: Established Hinanami, Komahina
Ratings/Warnings: Major character death, blood, angst, unrequited love
Prompt: 1) Coffee Shop AU 2) Any Angst 3) Hanahaki’s Disease
Author’s Notes: So, hello there! I’ve never written Komahina or hanahaki before, so I’m sorry if some things seem out of place! (It also doesn’t help I haven’t played SDR2) (this probably isn’t very reassuring huh)
I know I was probably just supposed to pick one prompt, but I looked at the list and the story just clicked in my head
So now you have this!
I really hope you enjoy it! I did *shudders*
rEseArCh
For this so hopefully it’s up to standard!
Also I know it says Hinanami in the tags, it makes sense in the story (this isn’t a hinanami centered story I swear)
Once more, enjoy!! ^^
Komaeda had been getting his lunches at the Jabberwock for as long as he could remember. He practically lived in it at this point. Each day he’d come in, order, sit for an hour and leave. Day in, day out. He was lucky the little coffee shop hadn’t closed yet. Usually he has rotten luck.
But one day, something changed.
The something that would inevitably be the death of him.
He walked in one day and noticed someone new at the counter. Short brown hair, heterochromia, well toned…
Well, he was certainly attractive, Nagito would give him that.
He walked up and stood in the queue, checking his phone for the time. He was here a bit earlier than usual.
“Next!”
His head snapped up as he realised the relatively short queue had depleted.
“Ah, so sorry!” He said to the man.
“No problem. What can we get you today?” The person said.
“Mm… I’ll have the usual.” He said. The cashier raised an eyebrow, then sighed.
“Sir, this is my first day. What’s ‘the usual’?”
“Oh!” Nagito chuckled nervously. “Sorry about that…” he looked down at the person’s nametag. “…Hajime.”
“Mhm, it’s fine. Honestly, it’s already happened three times this morning.”
“Really? That’s almost impressive.”
“Almost, yeah.” Hajime grinned slightly. “Now, what’d you say you wanted?”
“Oh, right! Well…"
He gave Hajime his order, and seeing as there was nobody in the queue behind him, he stood talking to him for a few minutes.
He learned a lot about Hajime in the time he had. He was the same age as Nagito, and actually went to the same college, despite being in different courses. Nagito told him he wasn’t sure what he was planning on doing with his future. Hajime agreed.
"Yeah, not sure either, really. It’s a writing course, so it could really go anywhere. Journalist, author, scriptwriter… you get the point.” Hajime said, Nagito nodding.
“I see! Sure does give a lot of hope, doesn’t it? Knowing you’re not stuck on one path… it’s great!”
Hajime looked at him. “Yeah, probably. Oh, your order’s ready.” Hajime told him, writing Nagito’s name on the cup.
“Oh! Thank you so much, Hajime.”
“No problem. That’ll be ¥360.”
Nagito passed over the money as Hajime passed him his coffee. Their fingers brushed for just a moment. Neither said anything, but Nagito felt his pale cheeks flush slightly.
“Well, I’ll be sitting over there now. Bye, Hajime.” Nagito said, waving. Why was he waving? Was he on waving terms with this guy?
He was being awkward.
Hajime laughed, shaking his head. “See ya, Nagito.”
Nagito smiled back at him, almost a bit too wide, as he sat down, taking a sip out of his coffee. It tasted slightly different today, but… not in a bad way. It almost tasted better, actually.
“Huh…”
He didn’t pay it much mind, just enjoying the taste as he pulled out his laptop. He had decided to get a bit of work done while he was at the Jabberwock today. His next paper was supposed to be about lesser known or folklore diseases. After a bit of research, he had decided on a certain disease that had caught his attention.
“Now, how do I start this..?” He wondered to himself. After a moment, he opened his document and started typing.
The hanahaki (ha-na-ha-ki) is a fictional disease that affects people with unrequited love.
As he finished his coffee, he saved his work, closing his laptop. As he was about to throw out the cup, something caught his eye. Where he thought his name was, a series of numbers had been scribbled.
You seem cool. Call me, if you want
xxx-xxxx-xxxx
-Hajime
Nagito’s breath hitched. That was Hajime’s number, right? He couldn’t believe it. Hajime gave someone like him his number?
Woah.
He looked back over at the counter, where Hajime had started serving another customer. As he turned around to start his customer’s order, he caught Nagito’s eye. He gave one last smile before turning away.
Nagito smiled, putting the empty cup in his bag. With one last glance back, he left. Until the next day, at least.
Hajime and Nagito got to talking over the next few weeks. Hajime told Nagito his schedule (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and Nagito made sure to come in on those days, if he couldn’t make it on the others.
They learned a bit more about each other over the weeks. Hajime was born on New Year’s, leading to parties doubling as New Year’s and birthday parties (despite him not always enjoying them.) Nagito was born on April 28; his birth month representing death, sorrow and horrid luck, but his birth date representing increased luck and fortune. As such, he’s always had a weird mix of luck, which Hajime just found kinda funny.
Nagito started getting staff discounts, which was great. Both were born into rich families though, so it didn’t make much difference to either.
Nagito did end up asking why he started working at the Jabberwock if he already had enough money to last him a lifetime. Hajime responded with I’m not really sure. I suppose I just… had a feeling. Besides, what harm could a bit of extra pocket change do?
Nagito got his paper submitted on time. Hajime helped him out at parts, knowing a surprising amount about the disease. Once he finished, Hajime congratulated him with a free meal.
Honestly, Nagito didn’t feel like he deserved it. Hajime’s friendship, he means. Sure, he was kind of frank at times, almost vaguely rude to people he doesn’t like, but he was able to put up with Nagito’s rants about whatever was on his mind, which wasn’t easy, considering his random theories and such.
He was nice.
Nagito knew he was falling for the man. He’d be a fool not to. The man was attractive, nice, understanding… yeah, Nagito definitely had a crush.
The days when Hajime wasn’t in work were the lonely days, as Nagito called them. They just felt emptier, since he started talking to Hajime.
Nagito wasn’t entirely sure what to do about his feelings. Becuase, let’s be honest here. 'Why would Hajime ever like someone like me? Besides, he’s probably straight.’
But he knew he couldn’t keep it in forever. It’d get too much to handle at some point. He was getting distracted in his classes for thoughts of Hajime. So one day, he decided.
He’d just tell Hajime so he could reject him. Get it over with. If he was lucky, maybe Hajime wouldn’t be totally repulsed. Maybe he’d still want to maintain a friendship! Wouldn’t that be great?
So that Saturday, he decided he’d say it.
Now, he was just counting down the days.
Saturday rolled around, and Nagito made his way to the Jabberwock. He probably wouldn’t stay too long today; he’d just say it and leave. But when he walked in, he noticed something.
Hajime wasn’t there.
“Huh..?”
Wasn’t that just his luck?
The day he finally decides to be honest, the object of his affections isn’t even there.
Well, that’s fine too. He can just come back in a few weeks. Maybe a year. Perhaps a century or two. Not too long, right?
He sighed, turning to leave. As he turned though, he slammed right into someone.
“Ah, sorry! I- Nagito?”
Nagito looked up at Hajime, who he had just slammed into.
“Oh, hello Hajime! I’m so sorry about that, I had no right to touch you like that, I-”
“Hey, hey Ko. What’d we say about the self-deprication?” Hajime said, raising an eyebrow.
“R-right. Sorry.”
“It’s fine. Actually, I’m glad I ran into you. I wanted you to meet someone.”
“Ah, has Hajime made a new friend? How wonderful!”
“Haha, you could… yeah, you could say that.” He gestured to the girl beside him, who Nagito hadn’t even registered until now. She had pale pink hair and was wearing a navy hoodie, holding her phone. He could hear faint Tetris music coming from it.
“Nagito, I’d like you to meet Chiaki Nanami, my… my girlfriend.”
Nagito could’ve swore his world just broke.
The floor felt like it was crumbling apart, the walls falling beneath their own weight.
“Hey.” The girl greeted. Both smiled at him like they hadn’t just broken his heart.
Well, they didn’t know, did they?
“A-ah… n-nice to meet you, Nanami… I’m- I’m so sorry, but I really must go. I- I don’t feel the best.” Nagito spit out that lame excuse as he advanced to the door.
“Oh, you need a lift? I could-”
“No-! ahem, I mean… no thanks, Hinata. Thanks for the offer. Bye.”
He pushed the glass door open and walked out, quicker than he had ever walked before. He didn’t live too far away, luckily enough, so he walked home quick enough, just desperate to get away from it all.
“Hm.” Hajime hummed.
“What’s up with him?”
“Not sure… a-anyways, what would you like?”
That night, the flowers started.
It was only a petal at first. He was sitting at his desk, booting up his laptop to take another look at his paper. Something had been bugging him about it, he just wasn’t sure what.
This wasn’t the first thing he’d done when he got home. His pillow was definitely tear-stained and he’d run his box of tissues dry. He wouldn’t admit that to anyone, though.
He had finally gotten over the throbbing in his head the crying had given him and sat down to re-read it when he felt a tickle in his throat. He tried clearing his throat, which turned to a full on coughing fit. At the end of it, he finally coughed it up.
A small daffodil petal, a bit smaller than his thumb.
Nagito froze, staring at the petal.
He just coughed that up, didn’t he..?
He looked from the petal to the computer screen in horror, not taking long to put it all together.
He thought the disease was fictional… but he had most definitely just coughed this up.
Nagito had the hanahaki disease.
He wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. Lucky for him, he’d already done his research, so he knew the deal. Flowers blossom in the victim’s lungs, eventually rendering them unable to breathe and suffocating them. The only cure was for the victim’s feelings to be romantically requited. You could also get surgery, but that results in you being incapable of romantic love, and Nagito couldn’t bear that. Despite knowing he didn’t have a chance with most anyone, especially Hajime, he’d like to make himself believe he still has.
Now, here was the kicker.
In most of the stories he’d read, the victim simply believed their love interest didn’t like them. But not in his story, oh no. Hajime was already romantically involved. That meant he most certainly didn’t feel how Nagito did. And if Nagito was going to avoid the surgery…
“I’m going to die.” He concluded, putting his head in his hands. He didn’t have enough energy or tears to cry anymore, so he just sat there, letting the cold truth set in.
It already felt harder to breathe.
It only got worse over the next few weeks.
After only three days a full daffodil head had come up, while he was in the Jabberwock, no less. It was getting increasingly harder to hide it in front of others.
Especially Hajime.
Hajime was usually very observant. He usually knew when someone was lying or hiding something from him, so he had to pull out his best acting skills.
Which, admittedly, were those of a teenager.
While he sat there, he was constantly clearing his throat, trying to force down the seemingly harmless flowers clawing their way up.
Luckily for him, the same person that put him in this situation was his unaware cover.
Chiaki.
As much as Nagito hated it, Hajime was now a lot more preoccupied with his girlfriend, which meant if Nagito needed to slip away to choke up a flower or two, he could do just that.
He didn’t know how to feel about Nanami. Sure, on one hand, she was basically the reason he was walking up Death’s driveway. But on the other hand, it wasn’t her fault. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but his own for having these feelings
How does that one song go?
How could I hate her? She’s such an angel.
But then again, kinda wish she were dead.
Not to that extent, but that basically sums up his feelings about her.
Feelings very unlike those for Hajime.
He did a bit of research when he could. Why daffodils? Turns out, a meaning for daffodils was unrequited love.
And wasn’t that fitting?
He was marking the days. Appreciating each day he still got to wake up, not having been smothered in his sleep. In all honesty, though?
He’d rather be killed in his sleep than choked to death at a coffee shop table.
He was also trying to appreciate his time with Hajime. He knew he would never have that sort of relationship with him, not now. So he tried to make the most of their friendship with him.
It was nice, for a while.
But all good things come to an end, as they say.
He was coughing up flowers multiple times a day, now. He’d noted to himself that when he saw blood, his time was almost up.
Terrifying, right?
It really was.
He’d just come home from a walk. He’d started going on them a while ago, when he’d just got it. He hoped the fresh air would do him some sort of good.
It’s funny, really. A while ago, Nagito wouldn’t have cared if he was killed. We practically would have welcomed it.
But now? Now he’d met someone. And because he’d met someone, he was dying. Because he’d met someone, he didn’t want to die.
But it’s not like he got a say in the matter, did he?
His lungs were being overgrown by weeds that call themselves flowers. Horrid things that were worming their way up his throat every. Single. Day.
And eventually, blood would come with them.
So here he was, sitting down after his walk. He sat down at his desk, his throat wheezing as he did. It had been three weeks and four days, and each day suffocated him just that bit more. And right now, he was dizzy. Probably from the lack of oxygen.
Right on cue, his next coughing fit started. It lasted as long as all the others, felt like all the others… but afterwards, it didn’t look like all the others.
He opened his eyes to see what he’d been dreading. A horrible stain of blood splattered across his desk, almost looking pink in the lamp light. He saw two daffodils laying in the midst. Some would call this poetic.
What would Nagito call it?
A death sentence.
He could barely breathe. The flowers crushed his lungs as he scrambled to get his phone out.
Logically, he should call an ambulance. Emergency services, anything that would help.
However, Nagito wasn’t thinking logically.
And that’s not what he did.
He looked over at the old cup, tapping in the number scribbled on it.
He’d never see that handwriting again.
He’d never see him again.
His hands shook as he pressed dial, holding it up to his ear. He also pulled up his paper on his laptop, scanning over it.
Now he knew what he was going to add.
“Hello?”
“Ah, h-hello, Hajime! S-so sorry to bother you th-this late.”
“Mm, no problem. Something up?”
“N-no, nothing at all..!” He scrolled to the bottom of the document, typing quickly. “I just wanted to ch-chat, is all… you g-got a minute?”
“Ahh, sorry Ko. I’m with Chiaki right now. Mind if I call you back tomorrow?”
“…sure. That’s no problem, Hajime. Hajime Hinata…”
“Huh? Ko, you ok?”
He saved the document, plugging in the laptop to charge shakily. He wanted to say his usual; Yep, I’m fine! No need to worry yourself, Hajime. See you tomorrow, hm?
That’s what he would’ve said had his throat not closed up.
Instead, he fought for his breath. He fought a battle that he’d inevitably lose. Hands shaking, chest wheezing, he spoke into the phone.
One last time.
“H-Hajime…”
“Yeah Ko?”
“I-I think I’m dying.”
He dropped his phone to the table, his head following suit not long after. In his last moments of consciousness, he heard Hajime yelling through the phone.
“What?! Nagito, did you say you’re dying?!”
“Nagito, answer me!”
“Nagito Komaede, talk to me!”
“C'mon, c'mon! Answer already!”
“I- Chiaki, call emergency services to this address. I’m sending help, Nagito. Just… just hang in there, please.”
A pool of blood drying on the table.
A final call ended.
A bleach white head of hair stained.
A final message on his computer.
In conclusion, the hanahaki disease is a very terrifying prospect, and now that I have experienced its effects first hand, I can confirm.
The hanahaki is deadly. I, Nagito Komaeda, have been killed at its hands.
March 11th.
They just didn’t get there quick enough.
Emergency services got there moments after Hajime did, who had sprinted up the stairs to where Nagito once resided.
He was shocked to find the scene in front of him.
He ran over to Nagito, trying to shake him awake. But no amount of shaking could uproot the flowers that had torn them apart.
He was brought off to a hospital, but he was already dead when they arrived. It didn’t take long to put together what had happened, despite nobody quite believing it. With the document Nagito had left, the blood and flowers and the tangle in his lungs, it was determined he most definitely had the disease, and just managed to keep it a secret.
Hajime.
He just couldn’t believe it.
Nagito was just… gone.
That phone call was the last time he’d ever hear the poor man’s voice. See him smile or laugh, despite how unnerving it could be at times.
All of that… gone.
Just because he loved someone.
Nagito had never talked about having a crush on anyone. But only people with unrequited feelings got the disease, right?
So whoever he liked just didn’t like him back.
And there was just the smallest, miniscule part of Hajime that had a feeling he knew who it was.
He prayed to whatever gods were up there that he was wrong.
Years later, Hajime still can’t look at daffodils.
For all they mean respect, chivalry… rebirth, eternal life, new beginnings, all of which Komaeda didn’t receive…
They also meant unrequited love. The cruel mistress that took his life.
He used to like Spring. Now he can’t stand it. That’s when daffodils bloom.
That’s when Nagito died.
He still lays awake some nights, thinking about the man he used to know. What would have happened had they not met? Had Hajime never taken that job, would Nagito still be alive?
A question that would never be answered.
He quit his job right after, not wanting to be reminded of the man. Despite that, he wouldn’t let him be forgotten.
So now, all he could do was heal. Mourn him, and heal.
He doesn’t think he’ll ever like daffodils again. After all, they’re the flowers that tore them apart.
-End-

2, 8, and 17 for the fanfic thing? 😄
2) Who is the easiest character fo me to write
Shuichi. I call him my kin for a reason. Writing him in all of his anxious glory is a treat. He has a lot of depth to him besides being passive, being weak, and overthinking. He’s kind. He’s willing to reach out to people. Now...that being said, he has his flaws. He lashes out when he’s shoved to a corner. (Don’t touch my hat. Telling Angie no. Telling Kokichi he’s going to be alone). It really shows that someone can be pushed to the brink and I think people need to explore that more. I try to showcase Shuichi in both lights of being the overworked detective, the caring boyfriend, the loving cousin...who has his moments of not being the brightest bulb. Of missing crucial details that some of the audience got. We tend to think “Ultimates” means that there are no mistakes to be made. You cannot make mistakes if your an Ultimate and I think that’s one of the few reasons why Shuichi has such a disconnect with his title, not just because of the murder case that happened but also because he himself knows that his temper isn’t like Rantaro’s. It’s not saintly. It does have an end. It does snap.
and I’m like that. XD Plain and simple. I try to be patient. I try to give people chances. I try to understand....but sometimes I’m just gonna flip a table and say something that I honestly don’t mean to say and regret it later. (Hopefully, no one’s dead and I can make amends but...that’s what makes that line and Kokichi’s death compelling in my mind. it’s a regret that’s gonna last...for ever).
8) 8. What is a scene you wrote that you are most proud of?
So far my proudest scene would be between chapter 8 of Vengeance and chapter 12, the current chapter. Chapter 8′s scene that I’m proud of is when you meet Shinigami for the first time and Loki’s asking him questions. The interaction was so smooth and the info-dumping was just a relief to do. I really adored how the characters immediately clicked despite how mismatched they were. Chapter 12′s scene that I’m proud of is the scene where Aki and Shuichi’s investigations are parallel to each other and the introduction of Jabberwock Island and what type of place they have in the story. I adored SD2 so I couldn’t just ignore them and not bring them in, especially when Tsumugi in the game canonically brought them in and tried to make the Remnant of Despair a thing in the game.
17) What is the most supportive comment that you’ve gotten?
BlindBeliever’s comment: I recently just discovered this fic and totally haven't been reading it every chance I get but wow. This deserves so much more kudos and attention. I love the way you write in every situation. This chapter with the gut wrenching sickness after and during the punishment is,, so good and descriptive, I felt like I was actually watching a video of her punishment. I'm so happy that I found this fic one evening and I love everything you do with this story. I hope you are well and will take care of yourself btw! Can't wait to read more of your work :))
That and aesenhr’s comment that had been sent just *seconds* after BlindBeliever who said pretty much the same thing as the comment above had me save those comments as a fierce reminder to keep writing and to give 110% every chapter. That’s why when I write my chapters I don’t give the first draft to my beta. I give my beta about draft 13 or 20 because if I can’t say “yeah this is the best I can do and I gave it everything” then it doesn’t deserve to be published and that comment right there is the reason why I will draft and draft and draft. I want to give my all to my readers because they deserve me at my 100%. To do less than that is to do them a disservice I feel.
