"you're only saying that because you don't know what i know, mami." miles sounded frustrated now.

"how i'am supposed to know if you don't tell me?"

"just trust me on this one." miles shook his head, refusing to give you a reason.

"bonito, i'm not going to switch my project partner just because you're jealous of him." you took his cheeks in your hands, taking a sit on his lap. "you do know that i could be partnered with another boy, right?" you pecked his lips.

"it’s not about the fact he’s a boy, is about who he is and jealous? me?" miles scoffed then stole a kiss. "i'm not jealous of flash thompson's little white ass, have you seen him?"

you laughed. "don't be mean!" you playfully hit his shoulder. "and yes i have, which is more reason for you not to worry." another kiss was stolen from you.

then miles took your hips in his hands, "flash is going to try and get in your pants. i know him, princesa."

"you say that about every boy you see me with." you said incredulous.

"yes, but this is different. is flash we're talking about." he placed a frustrated kiss on your lips.

"yeah, yeah." you nodded, pulling away from him and standing up from his lap. "i'm going to the library now, bonito."

miles groaned. "can i at least come with you?"

"no. you will just sit there, glaring at him, the whole time which wouldn't allow me to concentrate, because i will be too busy thinking about the thousand ways i would beat your ass once we were out of the library." you said simply, with a small smile.

“come on, mami.” miles took your hand in his, playing with your fingers. “i won’t bother you, promise.”

you sighed, giving up too soon for your liking. “fine.”

you knew you shouldn’t have believed miles’s promise, you knew better than to think that he would keep it.

there he sat, in the chair next to you, glaring at flash thompson as the boy told you a lot of stuff about the subject of your project but he wasn’t making any sense at all so you just pretended to understand.

miles’s arm was around your waist, pulling you to him, his hand gripping your hip in a tight hold. it didn’t hurt, but it wasn’t exactly comfortable. you kept tapping his hand, a silent message to let him know that he should control his face but either he didn’t get it or chose to ignore it. you could bet all your money which was the answer.

“look at this, y/n.” flash said, moving his chair closer to yours and leaning in which was unnecessary to show you something on his computer.

you knew the boy wasn’t dumb enough to not feel miles’s gaze on him but apparently he was dumb enough to not get the message behind the gaze.

“back the fuck up from my girl.” miles’s dark tone made flash visibly flinch, moving away from you immediately. “yeah, move fast before i beat your fucking ass.”

flash raised his hands in the air after a minute, letting out a nervous chuckle. “come on, my man. lighten up! i was just showing her something.”

“i ain’t your man,” miles stood up and made you stand up along with him with the arm around your waist. “we are leaving, ma.”

“but my project!” you protested.

“fuck that shit.” miles said, grabbing your bag and pulling you to the exit. “i’ll do your homework for that class when your grades drop.”

1610!miles morales

miles was pouting and looking at you with those beautiful baby deer eyes that made you melt for him. a couple of minutes had went by where he just kept that expression.

“what is it, mi amor?”

“why does it have to be him? why not me?” he covered his face with his arm, groaning into it.

“what are you talking about, miles?” you laughed. “i’m just doing a project with him, i’m still your girlfriend.”

he peeked at you through his arm. “really?”

“yeah,” you nodded.

“then tell the teacher to change your partner.”

“miles, be for real.” you shook your head. “flash is the last person i want as a partner, but you heard the teacher if i switch he takes 5 points off. it may be a little to you but that’s a lot to me.”

“i don’t like the way he looks at you, though.” he took his arm off his face, looking at you clearly now.

“and i don’t like the way some girls stare at you but we can’t all have what we want.” you shrugged.

“then i won’t go near them, you don’t go near him. everyone wins. everyone is happy.” miles clapped his hands, a winning smile on his face.

you laughed and placed a peck on his lips. “it’s not that easy, but we could try—”

“sweet! then let’s go, hermosa!” he started to stand up.

“after i’m done with this project.”

“but, bebé—”

flash sat back down at that moment, cutting miles off.

“sorry, the line for this was long.” he shook the shakes in his hands, before placing one in front of you. “hey, morales. when did you get here?”

“just now.” miles replied flatly.

“thanks, flash but i don’t want this.” you gave the shake back to him and pointed at the trash can where the one that miles had gotten you was empty in.

“oh…” the boy nodded, failing to hide the anger in his voice. “so… you two are together?” he pointed at you and miles.

he knew damn well the answer to that.

“yes, i was sure the whole school knew.” miles faked a frown. “weird.”

“well i didn’t, you must have not been obvious about it.” flash shrugged. “i thought you two were just friends.”

“now you know we are not.” you said to him, already feeling annoyance.

“since that’s the case, i’m sorry for hitting on your girl, dude.” he said to miles, acting as if that was necessary. “but she didn’t say anything, so i thought she was available.”

“we literally kiss in front of the whole school everyday,” you snapped. “there is no way you wouldn’t have known that we were dating.”

“and she shouldn’t have to tell you that she is dating someone for you to back off when she shows no interest in you.” miles said.

“now, can we get on with the project?” you raised an eyebrow.

terukane analysis, and/or just random stuff, i have too many prompts in drafts but they’re too small to be their own analysies so they’re here pt. 2 💫

I already made one of these a bit ago, so if theres anything not here it’s either in that other one, or i just haven’t covered it (yet)

Item A: “I like Akane-san”

When teru says this, it comes out differently in every language. And seemingly equally ambiguous which i find interesting

for example, in the french translation of this line, teru says "I love you more than you might think akane" rather than saying “i like akane-san” and i mean having a mistranslation here is obviously something, but what he actually says is just what?

“i love you more than you might think akane” EXCUSE ME??

also not to mention “san” is gender neutral. He very well could be calling akane by his first name and them (akane & nene) misunderstanding what he said. Although he does refer to aoi as “akane-san”, the translators wouldve translated it to “aoi” instead of “akane” if he was referring to her (or not, im not completely sure on how they do the translation 😭)

Item B: queer association

(Edit: Im fucking dumb and forgot to add the panel of that one dude yelling “no i want to be his boyfriend!” But i can’t find it for the life of me so pretend its here)

not only is this one of the only canon queer characters in tbhk, (my guy only got one panel 💔) but also this associates “queerness” or wtv that means with teru

along with akane mentioning both genders being attracted to teru. Again, associating queerness with him. And you may be wondering, why is this important? well, notice how out of all of the main and/or reoccurring characters, he is one of the ONLY characters to be associated with queerness. (The only others being kou; his friends teasing him about wanting to “undress mitsuba” and akane; the whole yamabuki thing) for example, take note of how scarily popular aoi is because of her beauty, shes like a literal god, everyone loves this girl, but notice how never once has a girl ever confessed to her? actively not associating her with queerness, unlike teru.

and notice how the other characters that are associated with queerness are kou, who (its pretty much been canonized atp) has romantic feelings for his male friend mitsuba, and AKANE. The guy i swear he has a crush on like cmon now AidaIro can you be more obvious

Item C: reoccurring patterns

in tbhk, all of the confirmed/obviously implied romantic relationships between the main characters have been supernatural x human, hanako and nene, mitsuba and kou, akane and aoi, excluding only teru and aoi. But this does not exclude teru and akane, almost showing us that in the love triangle between teru, akane and aoi, it may not be revolving around which one gets with aoi, but which one gets with akane. It seems as though teru x aoi was never an option from the start.

Although teru has said he likes aoi, his actions say otherwise. for example teruaoi’s conversation in the convenience store was obviously extremely awkward, the only non-awkward part being when he helped her out of that creepy interaction with the clerk.

And the face he made when akane asked/assumed he had a crush on aoi

(Which he never definitively answered)

The point of this section was because of these reoccurring patterns we can conclude akane is the main love interest, not aoi.

Item D: their relationship

Something teru likes about akane, is how no matter what he doesn’t seem to ever give up. Which yes in some aspects this can be a bad thing, coff coff

But most times, you can kind of tell this is a big reason he likes akane, almost like a “he pushes him down, he gets back up” kind of thing, its a big part of their dynamic. If akane wasn’t like this, their dynamic would change a lot. He likes this because as stated in the spinoff, he kind of uses akane as a “stress toy” (which has obviously changed, as their relationship did when the series progresses) but he likes this because at the end of the day, akane will come back. No matter how many times he ties akane up, he returns to the student council room. No matter how many times teru pushes akane down (in this example, literally) he gets back up.

Something i like about terukane, is their relationship. The trust and motivation they give one another. For example, its shown early on Teru has disassociates himself from other people. Teru views the living as “delicate” and kind of makes it his job to protect them from supernaturals (when i say he made it his job i mean his dad did). He was raised to have a very different view towards the living vs supernaturals. Rounding this back to Terukane, teru doesn't view akane as “fragile” like other people, and I think that's something to take note of. The reason he thinks like this could definitely tie into the fact that he’s half supernatural but also he views akane in a higher regard then most people. Akane keeps up with him, teru actually acknowledges this, saying he values his intelligence and enjoys talking to him. 

Its kind of been shown teru has had a hard time making friends ever since grade-school, i mean yeah he talks to people, but the only people he’s lowered his guard around has been tiara and kou (siblings), and akane. A literal supernatural (the kind of person this guy is supposed to exterminate??) Literally what makes akane so special? This guy is the most popular person in THE school, second to none, and the only person besides his family that he can let his guard around is akane? They both work in the student council, president and vice president meaning they work in extremely close quarters, everyday, giving them lots of time to talk, so its no doubt they became close, but out of everyone, teru choosing akane to put his trust in is just odd to me idk man

Item E: bringing up each other alot

in many instances, teru and akane bring eachother up when they aren’t even involved in the current situation, or unintentionally show us they think about eachother more than we think they do, a few examples:

Teru talking ab akane to his family. Call me insane but i have alot to say ab this one. This one really gets me because that would mean throughout his entire way home from school, including if he fought off supernaturals on his way back (which he seems to do pretty much everyday), from the last time he saw akane, he had to have been thinking about him the entire time. Since they are in the student council they stay together for most of the day when its not their extra/curricular classes or lunch, meaning they probably stayed together until about an hour after school ended, and according to google

School ends around 3:50 to 4pm and their after school activities last until around 6pm. In one chapter i forget which one, kou complains about his brother not being home much and whenever he is home he’s usually sleeping or too sleepy to answer him properly, (and in art of their ‘home life’ teru is always either sleeping or sleepy) because of his constant fighting with supernaturals well into the evening. Now lets assume at this point teru has left the school building, and about a few (5) minutes down the sidewalk and he runs into supernaturals, fights them off yadayadayada, at this point it’s presumably now 6:30-6:40, now lets also assume they live about a few (5) blocks away from the school, one block presumably taking 5 minutes each, times the 5 blocks they live away, taking approximately 25 minutes to half an hour to walk, plus the additional time he took to exorcise the supernaturals on his way home, which by this point we can probably assume its 7-7:20 now which is around an hour after families/people usually make dinner, we can assume he gets home at the 7-7:20 mark, sits down with tiara and kou to have dinner when this panel was shown

Meaning for an esitmated two and half, to three consecutive hours, akane was on teru’s mind. Thats a pretty long time to be thinking ab someone teru. I know what you are

tbhk was originally going to be a oneshot manga featuring the love triangle between akane, lemon and aoi but later was cancelled, and in the official manga, they made lemon and akane “fall in love”

obviously as a joke but that shows AidaIro is not oblivious to the idea/premise of the two boys instead falling in love with eachother, rather than the girl, so the idea (i talked more ab in a past analysis) of teru&akane getting together rather than teru&aoi or akane&aoi getting together is ON THE TABLE

on the first (+) you see, theres the word "pretend" (or in the original lyrics, "disimula"). in this case it is a way of saying something like "pretend you didnt see/hear it" or "pretend it doesnt affect you"

the second (+) is for the word "pilot" ("pilotear" in spanish). it is an expression used to say something like "manage/stabilize the situation" in the way a pilot would stabilize a plane when going through turbulences (in this case the turbulences would be his thoughts)

third (+), the original lyrics do not actually say that but i had no idea how to translate it + google translate and word reference were not helping, so i had to change it in order to not put a whole ass explanation in the middle of the lyrics. the original text is something along the lines of "we have to leave and i dont know where to leave through". im not even sure if thats grammatically correct but what its trying to say is that he does not know where the exit is.

now ANALYSIS TIME‼️

the song talks mostly abot social anxiety and feeling like everyone is watching everything you do. at first it would seem like the concept of social anxiety has nothing to do with the egocentric, confident and cocky Johnny Cage, but youd be wrong. in my headcanons, he grew up as an undiagnosed autistic kid in a small town inthe fucking 90's, of course he has social anxiety. he just made himself be this big extroverted and confident person to make up for it. hes constantly worrying about how people percieve him (in his looks, in the way he talks, in the way he moves), about people talking about him behind his back (yk celebrity shit + this can be connected with the flies mentioned in the song), about his emotions being too big, about being too intense, being too much. he was around people who told him he was "bad" (annoying, loud, dumb, etc.) so much that it became a part of his subconsious, a part of his thoughts. they hunt his every move, a constant monolgue of every tiny thing he does wrong. specially when he was younger, this thoughts would get so intense that they would overwhelm him, but it doesnt happen very often anymore. everyone usually assumes he has a pretty high self esteem but he has just gotten really good at hiding his insecurities under layers upon layers of braggings, fake self confidence, borderline narcissistic tendencies and a lot of jokes. he basically made himself charismatic, a.k.a, the name of the song. also, if you listen to that second chorus its kinda like a response to the main chorus. it refers to someone that parties a lot and doesnt care about anything or anyone. it is a conversation between a very insecure and shy person (the first chorus) and an over confident and social person. alternatively, it is a conversation between John Carlton and Johnny Cage.

aside from the lovely lyrics, this song is AWESOME when it comes to the music. it genuinely makes me go insane like AAAHSVAAH i highly recommend listening to it with headphones

That was (name)s official title in Bonten.

He was usually tucked away in the darkest corners of Bonten doing his typical nonsense but today was different, today he was to go through Bontens financial information of the past quarter and he was stressed to say the least.

He knew only a few of the Bonten higher ups knew sign language as they were the ones who spoke to him.

Those being: Mikey, Koko and Sanzu.

He had someone set up his laptop and such before hand, setting paper copies of the financial information in binders on each executives and highers spot at the meeting table.

Entering the room (name) began, playing a voice recorder he politely asked his assistant to voice as he began giving his presentation and moving with the voice as if it were his own.

"Why aren't you speaking?" rindō asked bluntly, staring holes into the others head as (name) sighed and paused the recording and began signing 'im mute, sorry for any inconveniences' and the five who had no clue what he was doing looked wildly confused "he's mute dumbasses" sanzu said annoyed as Koko began speaking up "he's incredibly good at his job, I'm willing to translate any questions related to the meeting" empathizing the latter of his sentence when he saw some dumb questions formulating in the other men's heads.

Bowing slightly at Koko (name) waited until Mikey gave the go ahead to continue his presentation and the men listened with rapt attention, fascinated at the other man.

The meeting ended and (name) quietly packed up his things and gave a polite bow as Mikey dismissed him.

(Name) thought that, that was the end of speaking to the men for at least a bit and could go back to his job but nope.

ah thank you... it is a very tentative undeveloped idea so i don't have too much but here's what i have + brainstorming in real time

I think it's funny bc it's like. There's the musk-grimes similarities of weird dysfunctional silicon valley romance just without the music making but there's also kind of a jessica-roger rabbit component. Kind of. ever so slightly, probably the closest you can get with the most esoteric of space biology.

Idk where this happens on the timeline. Certainly before HOL but it has to be after Giblets starts to do the Sort of Stuff He Does but before it gets to its worst + he starts getting as paranoid as he is when we see him.

Also I am assuming Giblets had a wife before hand? Something something timeline I think Giblets had Krimothy before Mux but maybe not?? And idk where the Krubis incident fits in w/ this either.

Unless they met + dated way way back as a little fling at the start of their careers or in college or something. but then it's not as funny. There'd be the awkward ex situation then but what really intrigues me is the G3 and every Muxxalon employee looking on in horror as these two start holdin hands and being mushy as all hell

totally infatuated with each other the sort of couple that's sickeningly sweet they give off the vibes of high school sweethearts who have to be held back from making out in the hallways.

Mux is attracted to the mystique of it all. A super genius scientist AND a gang member? She is living the booktok plot of her dreams!

Meanwhile Giblets appreciates her power/status but is also just very infatuated like in general. And he loves how much she loves him. Pretty woman... thinks he's handsome... and he gets to show off how smart he is yay!!

So he shows off and waxes poetic and she swoons and meanwhile she goes and Girlbosses and dotes on him and he's over the moon about it. They love coming up with awful "genius" ideas together and dreaming of the day they rule the galaxy together

And they like seeing the other obliterate merks/muxxalon employees

And... yeah that's the positives, mostly just the novelty and the wow factor.

Between the both of them being... the sort of people they are... corrupt controlling selfish cruel and out of touch... etc etc etc... they do clash a lot. A lot of fighting then kiss and make up sort of situations...

Im just imagining that "pronouns suck" "nooo baby this isn't your heart!!" tweet but Mux is complaining about translator microbes or something and Gibs starts crytyping abt it

But while Mux is very enthralled by the glamor of living wealthily and all her nice ideas Giblets obsesses over science and how he can maintain safety and some semblance of happiness by sabotaging that of others... and I feel there'd have some moment where it. Clicks that they have this in common.

And they do appreciate each others lil quirks! He likes her Elden Ring builds... she likes the way he talks...

I'm assuming the breaking point would be Mux trying to take credit for something Giblets did or Giblets overstepping in his... Gibletness. Somehow. And then she'd feel disrespected by it. Or maybe their horoscopes said they'd break up.

Giblets is a whole can of worms. Because he's smart academically but near socially incapable and prone to spiraling into these. Fucked up self serving actions that ruin lives and shit. He has the mentality of a fucking Fargo character. So I feel it'd probably be his fault the most in the end

ig if there's anything heartwarming about this it would be that since Giblets doesn't mention Mux during that little speech they ended on good enough terms or were able to reconcile down the line to some extent? At the very least he felt sure she would not try to kill him.

I think it was messy for a while though. Custody over Goimpy Schoimpy Peanut Rendezvous 2000 was a bitch. Everyone was relieved when they actually started being cool w/ each other again or at least decided to leave each other alone.

im a big fan of touhou doujin music. HUGE fan. i own so many cds. i also am one of those people who really likes listening to instrumental versions of vocal song. so you can imagine how fucking PUMPED i was when i saw hit circle COOL&CREATE (the circle that made 'Night of Knights' or however the fuck you properly translate it) was putting out an album with karaoke versions of a bunch of their vocal songs!

now, i think my mistake here was ASSUMING 'karaoke vers.' was the same as 'instrumental vers.' because you know. it usually is

in this case it... kinda wasn't. like the vocals are removed, yeah but only the leading vocals, the backing vocals are still there. which leads to some songs being basically instrumental, but others being eh....

yeah '天弓天華オトハナビ' is pretty much still the exact same. which is a SHAME because i REALLY WANTED AND INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF THAT SONG ACTUALLY-

I wanna hear your musing about how monolingual people write multilingual! I think it’d be really interesting. I’m monolingual myself but I’m trying to be fluent in another one.

oh hi!

so. let me preface this by saying that i will be speaking mostly from my experience and about bi-/multilingual people who speak languages from different language groups (so if someone for example speaks two or more slavic languages since childhood my musings probably won't be applicable)

there are different types of multilingual people (wow really? that's a shocker).

some learn multiple languages as children in the way a native speaker would, and they speak the languages without a foreign accent. if they stop using one of the languages they will forget some vocabulary but won't suddenly develop an accent and lose the "feel" of the language (like the thing where you hear something and you know it sounds wrong grammatically).

some (and this is the majority) learn the second language as a second language, so they need to learn all the rules and grammar explicitly. they will have a foreign accent if they don't work on their pronunciation really hard and they probably will still have an accent that doesn't sound natural. (i will be talking about this kind of bilinguals mostly)

now we come to switching between languages. some are easier to switch between and some are harder, it all comes down to how and where you make the sounds in your mouth. i don't have a good way of explaining it, but from what i understand it's kind of similar to vocal placement when you learn to sing?

like when i speak german, the sound seems like it's in the front of my mouth, and in russian it's more in the middle/back and closer to the throat. as i said, i can't really explain it. (p.s. it also affects the voice so in german my voice seems higher than in russian idk)

this leads me to switching languages. it's not exactly hard to switch between them, but im often too lazy and won't if i don't need to, so it is really funny for me to see characters say one (1) word in their native language and then switch to english. like my man. my guy. why

on the subject of the one word in your native language, pet names. yes, it is almost a tradition in fics (and maybe published works but i don't read that, so idk), but it doesn't make me ask any less questions.

like. if i wanted to call my s/o something cute, i would call them that in a language they understand. if they asked me to call them russian pet names i would cringe really hard ask why (because in fiction (and my s/o is incredibly fictional), the use of foreign words often comes from fetishization/omg look how exotic).

okay im tired of rambling sorry that was so long. now something that may be useful for writers if they want to write more realistic bilinguals!

when the usage of a native language is realistic (in my opinion!):

— just talking to yourself

— cursing. english has no interesting cursing options

— forgetting a word in english and saying it in your native language followed by an unintelligible ramble about how you could ever forget such a dumb word

(and more because i can't think rn. just not "only pet names in native language". please. for the love of god)

other stuff:

— using the grammar of your native language when speaking a foreign one

— translating proverbs from your native language literally and then going ah. that may not be an english thing

— forgetting a word in every language that you know. ten times as frustrating as forgetting it in one language

etc.

so recently i finished reading the terror (which was… something), and as i went to sleep that same day a fragment from one of the early chapters of the book came back to me (not in a dream fortunately, though that shit do be haunting me). as i was reading the book, i didn’t focus on small bits that i would usually stop on and research, as i really just wanted to reach the ending of this brick of a book, but something that caught my eye was a chapter of franklin’s talking about the search parties sent out to look for leads. i remember vividly that i read a fragment clearly stating that lt edward little before joining the franklin expedition actually sailed with crozier before (and james clark ross), and i remember that so vividly because i went and screamed about it to my friend, because…. THATS INSANE??? and for some reason i just left it at that and read the rest of the book, mostly thinking that i hallucinated that fragment entirely, or remembered it wrong actually. well i have came back now to the early chapters and found said fragment, and no. i was not wrong. the fragment (in chapter 9 franklin, page 139, of the 2018 edition of the book by transworld publishers) clearly reads “little, an old arctic hand, sir john understood, a man who had gone south with crozier and james ross eight years earlier“. since i am not a native english speaker i looked up a polish translation of the book, thinking that maybe my brain wasn’t braining properly, but turns out no, i'm not that dumb. but i digrees. i think if you type that fragment into google, word for word, in quotes there should pop up a version of probably illegal pdf version of the book. and i think i went a little insane with this, because a) my read of edward in both the book and the show was of a man who clearly never before was put in those kind of conditions, possibly tried his best, though failed miserably (there is a scene in the book also, where at the “go for broke” meeting he proposes going out into land and getting wood. as to be expected, the men in the room literally laugh at him. so he doesn’t seem to be experienced with the polar climates at all, as seem to be most of officers on the ships), b) i have done little research (pun intended) and checked up two things. first, the 1839 ross expedition’s list of officers that i managed to find. there is no little, and the only edward (also a lt) there is one with surname bird.

we know from ed’s little biographical dictionary that he became lieutenant in 1837, and unless he didn’t serve as an officer on the ross expedition, there is no mention of him anywhere that i could find.

from this tiny biography of edward’s voyages we also know that little’s closest ever ship to either arctic or antarctic was in 1842 to south america. which is not very close. attentive readers may have also noticed that when the ross expedition set out in 1839, edward little was busy on the board of britannia.

(also while doing this cool little research i have found out that edward possibly met franklin before joining the expedition, and according to lady franklin letters, her husband held little in high regards, which i found interesting)

so now i just really want to know, did dan simmons just straight up decided to make stuff up for fun or…... cuz if so, then he really do be writing fanfictions out there (or maybe someone is more informed then me, just a random person on the internet, in that case PLEASE HELP ME)

but i guess now in the terror universe edward little has served under crozier before (also with thomas jopson, who historically served under crozier), which is something for me to think about when i want to make myself really sad in the middle of the night. or maybe it’s just supposed to show how franklin has no idea who these people who serve under him are, that man is wasaay to old to be out there in the cold you know what im saying

ants from up there by black country new road: beautiful BEAUTIFUL album, literally 10/10 best album i’ve listened to this year (as like nearly everyone on any music reviewing site has probably also said). if you haven’t listened to it, its about a straining relationship thats painted using the failed aeroplane project ‘concorde’ as a metaphor to represent the sunk loss fallacy. fav song: good will hunting

THE UNRAVELING OF PUP THE BAND by PUP: this was my first introduction to PUP and listening to this album cumulated in me seeing them in Leeds a few months ago! its an amazing, no-skip, punk album. every single song just PUMPS ME UP !!! makes me wanna smash shit, i love it. FAV LYRIC: ‘200 BUCKS A WEEK JUST TO TALK ABOUT MY LACK OF DIRECTION? I GOT A BIT OF A COMPLEX, IN CASE THAT WASN’T CLEAR FROM THE LAST FEW SESSIONS’

The Dream Is Over - PUP: because i loved the latest PUP album so much i literally just had to listen to this. i only listened to this for the first time a few weeks ago and i’d even go as far to say that its better than tuoptp for sure. again, every single song just fucking goes so hard its insane. i just put this shit on when im walking or gaming and i feel like a mad man, i feel like im dancing in a stadium full of people and we’re all feeling a strong sense of melancholy and violence. i love it. fav song: sleep in the heat (editors note: i didnt know what this song was about until i went to learn it on guitar and looked at the lyrics for the first time and it was so fucking sad it nearly made me cry. RIP norman. im sure you were a great friend)

trick - alex g: this album isn’t my introduction to alex g (lincoln’s sandy cover was) but it was my introduction to their wider discography. i first heard sarah on tiktok and just that intro midi flute and guitar strums flung me back into my childhood. i was playing tig in the playground again, i was making up games in the church car park again, i was scraping my knee trying to climb trees way too tall for me again. this album leaves me with a lot of nostalgia from my angsty-nirvana-listening teen years to my young-dumb childhood years. i love it. fav song: sarah (i also have a major love-hate relationship with the song ‘whale’)

God Save The Animals - alex g: the natural step from ‘trick’ was to look at their new album released this year!!! this is SUCH an interesting album. it goes from classic alex g to some crazy hyper pop type stuff and i LOVE it. i super super love the percussion and the way that the vocals are changed and mangled and distorted in so many different ways. it doesn’t necessarily have any earworms per-say but it does have some pretty incredible new sounds that have really inspired me to develop my own style and try some of the effects mr.g has used in this record. fav song: runner

Be The Cowboy - mitski: my first exposure to mitski was from my partner playing their songs on the car and i never really properly understood it until i saw her live. theres just a pure controlled rage about mitski thats hard to describe in words. its a snarl between words. its letting someone know that they fucked you up in an eloquent hand written letter. i love the pumping synths on this album. i love how mitski can push emotion through her voice to tell a story. sometimes she belts, sometimes she sings softly but you can tell when theres rage behind her voice and i love it. fav song: washing machine heart

Hold on Now, Youngster... - Los Campesinos!: theres something about 2000′s indie music that was particularly made in the UK thats so special because growing up there is such an individual experience that it can’t be translated to anywhere else in the world (much like growing up anywhere else!). lc! manages to capture this and put it into song. its about all the boring shitty themes like love and breakup but telling it through the way we interact with each other. through letters, through mixtapes, through inside jokes and superstitions you made yourself. i love love LOVE the horns in this album and how they work with the violin -- its almost poetic at times. every song on this album slaps, i love the outro. fav song: You! Me! Dancing! 

Blues and Roots - Charles Mingus: i got really into jazz due to my uni course having a section on it and i found myself particularly fond of a sub-genre of jazz called ‘hardbop’ and this charles mingus fella is INSANE at it. listening to this whilst walking feels amazing, its like i can see different shapes and colours flashing in my brain, with every bop and sax solo it just hits so hard. fav song: moanin’

GAMES

Hollow Knight: the art in this game is stunning first a foremost, you start in an unknown world and you are given NOTHING in terms of lore. even the community to this day does not fully understand the lore and honestly?? i love it. it gives me a sense of child-like wonder wandering caverns looking for secrets and tiny tinges of lore and it actually gets surprisingly emotional?? it deals with themes of loss, grief and parenthood. its very goth, very melancholic and very fucking difficult. i highly recommend this! i sunk around 60 hours into it

Omori: this game will be super difficult to really talk about because I don’t wanna spoil anything at all but: its a really beautiful portrayal of dissociation and trauma. like a lot of people, i really resonated with sunny and his struggles with fears, basic ones like drowning or heights of course, but also more innate fears like the fear of growing up and losing friends or the grief that comes with losing your childhood. If you’re in your late teens or early 20′s it’ll probably of remind you of a time you forgot and a time that you’ll never have back. very emotional game.

Fortnite: okay mikey deafpony introduced me and the friendgroup to this and it fucks so hard. i never really thought i was into battle royale’s but this game just makes it fun and interesting all the time. yeah, okay, the updates are annoying but it keeps the game constantly fresh and new. i highly recommend playing with friends! was pleasantly surprised with it.

WATCHING THINGS

I didn’t really watch that many tv shows/movies this year so i just put them into one thing okay??

Isle of Dogs: its wes anderson. i love the humour. its not laugh out loud funny but its quick and fast paced and i loved how dark this movie gets sometimes ?? its just a lotta fun and sometimes emotional. i love the stop motion and all the artwork is super pretty. im also a weeb so like, japan yay but it does also suffer from orientalism which sucks.

Moomin (2019): Previously, I could never really get behind this version of Moomin because I didn’t like the voice actors and I didn’t like the animation. However, its really grown on me. It does take a few episodes to find its feet and some episodes do fall flat but it really does stay true to the original source material. After watching the first 2 and a bit seasons, I’d probably say that it stays closer to ‘true’ moomin than any other tv adaptation to date. I also now prefer the voice actors in this version. chris morris is hilarious as moominpappa and i liked the featuring of richard ayoade, making us one step closer to an IT crowd x moomin cross over episode. some of the episodes are actually really emotional ?? i couldn’t get over that this adaptation nearly made me cry a couple times.

Heartstopper: i love how UK schools are shown in this show because it FEELS very accurate. some of the script feels kinda GCSE drama but like, its the representation that really stood out for me. i really appreciated how they didn't just focus on the cis experiences but also trans ones too. its very cute, i liked it.

The Batman: i liked robert pattinson’s makeup (and i STOLE it) and this movie made me hold onto whatever masculinity i had left cuz lets be honest everyone wanted to be batman if u watched this movie.

hey callie (if that's your name), i hope you don't mind me submitting an entire essay of sorts so that you could, you know, classpect me. i've seen the stuff you've been posting here on this blog of yours, and i can't help but like it. so uhhh, let the trauma dumping begin, i guess? i'll try not to take this too far, so i'll give you something more palatable to read. if i do, feel free to call me out for it like you did over mentions of politics that other people did.

so...how would i describe myself as a person?

dude, i wish you had a format like a list of questions or something. is this dumb for me to complain about because by being this open-ended, you're giving other people the choice to say what they want to, with those choices ultimately providing a subtle kind of information that may or may not make your readings/analyses more accurate? probably. am i going to complain about it anyway? well, i just did, even though i'm not usually one to actively complain. that translates to absolutely, by the way. all this text is just a transcript for my thoughts while writing this. no wonder this has gotten out of hand so quickly. but look on the bright side: there's more for you to analyse. fuck yeah to that. :)

back to the question: one thing i can say about myself is that i go on tangents and can get sidetracked easily (see the above paragraph for explicit proof). i'm also a very secretive person, especially in regards to my problems and my inner world. when it comes to that, i can't help but feel like i understand them better than how the external world works. to compensate for this lack of understanding, i tend to, figuratively speaking, wear different hats depending on the situation. usually, im quiet and lay low as i keep an eye on what goes on around me, which i attempt to grasp by myself. other times, i do the exact opposite when i feel like i'm supposed to, mostly in attempts to get others to like me. i'm either too much or too little for the people around me to deal with. hell, i guess i could say i'm wearing a different hat right now through the way i'm typing in this ask, and that's mostly because i'm that fucking terrified of being able to be identified via typing style alone even if i'm anonymous. a person's gotta cover their tracks while admitting personal shit, you know?

so to cope with the fact that i find it hard to make friends due to all this, i've gotten used to isolating myself and being self-reliant, to the point where i straight up pretend to be stoic, cold, and boring to talk to out of well, a lot of things. these things include how i'm constantly terrified of social interaction, i'm afraid of hurting other people through whatever shitty choices and words i decide to make or say, and i can't help but feel worthless all the goddamn time. it even goes to the point where i tell myself that i should be so proud to be so "independent and badass" as a motivator to keep getting away with this despite having this deep, contradictory craving to have meaningful interpersonal relationships in my life, which i tell myself is stupid and that any attempts i make at it are bound to be a waste of time and effort to avoid dealing with it all together. and i suppose that also makes me a hypocrite by default. that's a big yikes on my part.

i also guess that according to some people i used to know, there's a side of me that can be best described as sassy, blunt, with a disposition of innocence and sunshine. i mean, i'm probably being incredibly sassy while typing this all out, aren't i? (which is intentional) if you find it hilarious (like some of my friends did), then i'm glad to hear that the interspersed shenanigans i've been pulling as i prose on endlessly about my flaws have made someone laugh. however, i don't fully buy my sunny, pure disposition as part of who i am as i can't help but feel that only developed as a way to avoid conflict, especially by preventing any sign of my problems and stress from leaking into the day-to-day conversations i had with them at the time. however, there were occasions where both my positive and/or negative emotions got so overwhelming to deal with that i accidentally snapped in front of them. even though i try to prevent those kinds of occasions from happening at all, i regret every single time i lose my composure like that without meaning to due to how i felt rejected every time i did that. and well, in my eyes, rejection scares the everloving shit out of me as well.

i've also been described as a "robot" and a "cryptid" on previous occasions and well, i don't entirely know how to feel about those kinds of descriptors. but i'm not complaining about it because being any of those things sounds badass to me when trying to be positive about it.

so yeah, i'd say that im a person that's damn good at usually playing the role of a stone-cold, sassy hardass with nothing interesting to offer beyond that while wishing it were the truth.

and well, i feel like i've talked enough about myself to feel the need to not mention anything else, so that's where i'll end this. like, i'm usually private about my interests, especially the ones i'm the most emotionally invested im (which can go to the point where I lie about them out of embarassment) and my aspriations in life are something along the lines of "i want to do all this cool shit, but i realistically don't have the energy for all that and worrying about what other people need from me is more important anyway."

hope you got something out of all of this. it was nice for me to type it out, even if all i did was talk about myself. but that's the point, right? and hopefully, i don't regret saying any of this. sorry if this was a long one to read, i hope that doesn't bother you too much.

Raku chan blushed as she read over her love haiku to Hitoshi-san. (Translator note: A haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.)

She hoped that Hitoshi san would understand the poem and know what she meant.

Suddenly 1 of Raku chans classmates showed up!

"RAKU CHAN wut r u doing, how are we supposed to sell kawaii pantsu underwear chans if ur just loitering around wasting time?! Hurry up and get to work!" said the classmate.

"N-nya I'm going I'm going ok?" Raku chan said. She sighed and put away her love letter and went outside to work at the kawaii pantsu chan stall.

"Nya nya nya~ Kawaii pantsu chans~ Nya nya desu~ Sugoi pantsu chans~" Rakue-chan singed the TV jingle 4 Kawaii underwear chan store ^o^.

A bunch of people showed up listening to Raku-chan's singing which was as lovely as an pure angle's singing. When she was done singing the crowd all cheered and everyone bought a bunch of kawaii pantsus that was how good Raku-chan's singng was.

"Wow we're all sold out of kawaii underwears!" said one of the students.

"Raku-chan, ur incedible!" sed another one.

"Good work Raku-chan" said Vet-sama who was walking around the Festival to look at all the stalls.

"A-Arigato gazaimasu minna sans, Vet-sama! It was nohting!" Raku-chan said bashfully and she bowed like in anime.

"Well, since we were so sucessfull, we should all go have a break now. Let's enjoy the Festival minna san!" said a classmate.

"Ok!!!" said Raku-chan and all the others and they went to look around da Festival.

Meanwhile Koneko-chan was still at the mochi ice cream stall. The mochi ice cream stall was set up kind of like a maid cafe, where there were tables people could sit and order food from maids.

"Ohayo master-kun, what would you like 2 order!" said one of the kawaii maids.

"Ehehehehe I wanna kawaii parfait chan eheheh" said a pervy guy with a nosebleed at the seggsy meidos all around him.

"Coming right up!" said the maid and she brought the order to the kitchen where Koneko-chan was working.

Koneko chan was making the sugoi desserts and stuff for the maid cafe. She put in mochi ice cream and pocky chans and whiped cream and choclat syrup and other stuff they put on parfaits.

She finished making da parfait and another maid brought it out.

Then suddenly a new customer came in! It was…………………………………………………………………………….

DOLCE-CHAN!!!!!!!

Dolce-chan was Koneko-chan's sister!

"Hi Dolce-chan! said Koneko chan." said Koneko chan

"Hi Koneko-chan" Dolcechan said back. "Pretty kimochi School Festival u have here, right?"

"Ahahahaha. Yeah," Koneko chan agreed. "I'm done with my shift, do you want to look around the School Festival with me?"

"Ok" said Dolce-chan.

its currently my life goal to read through every single one of your pokemon fanfics because i fucking love pokemon it is my life and you write them so well it is impossible to not like your fanfic.

i first discovered you through "There's blood of your lies" and holy shit i love that fic. absolutely amazing. wish i could give a million kudos.

since then ive just been reading fic after fic written by you and they are AMAZING

i love how every character gives their pokemon nicknames, i love the story with Cyrus, Riley, Cheryl and Cynthia going on their pokemon journey, and ive thought of a few ideas to expand on that (what if cynthia had died, and cyrus had kept going on became champion? what if cynthia had convinced cyrus to stay just a little longer, ending up with them not trying to reshape the world? what if someone else had formed Team Galactic, what would they have done differently? the ideas i have-)

Anyway, i am a major fan of yours and i wish i could show some more appreciation. when i figured out you had a tumblr, i ran over here practically feral so that i could just give you major kudos.

please keep writing. yours is some of the best ive ever read.

im curious. first, hello!!!!!!!! second, is there anything about diavolo/doppio/king crimson that you dont like when it comes to their personalities? not how they were portrayed (as in, what the author did to them/their fate) but something about them that u dont really like

Hello! Yeah, there are a couple things about them that I don't like.

As for Doppio, I'd have to say that his obliviousness took me out of the immersion at times. That guy just didn't realize anything that was going on. He didn't even stop to wonder "Hey, why do I keep having these strange headaches and blackouts?" or "How does the Boss keep reaching me on different phones? Also, why do I keep finding phones randomly everywhere?" Like, if Diavolo gave him alternate explanations for why all of the weird stuff was happening, I would've bought it, but Doppio just doesn't question a single thing.

For as much as I talk about Diavolo, would you believe it if I said that I don't actually find any of his dialogue to be all that great? It's kinda just a bunch of monologuing about how powerful he is and how fate has chosen him to be the emperor, and how everyone else is insignificant, blah blah blah. Diavolo's actual dialogue is just generic villain stuff compared to the rest of him. It's a little disappointing, since I'd imagine a guy who's lived in isolation as the leader of the Mafia for years with no one else to talk to except for his teenaged alter (and was raised Christian while being named "Devil") would have something more interesting to say.

The only one of his lines that actually stuck out to me was from a manga translation I read, and... not in a good way.

3. The real big annoying thing with Diavolo, to me, is all of the dumb mistakes he made that he easily could've (and should've, given we know how good he is at hiding his identity) avoided. Why did he steal Trish from Bruno, leaving her entire hand behind, making Bruno suspicious? Why couldn't he have just let Trish and Bruno get off the elevator, keep his face hidden in the darkness, have Trish handed to him and then wait for Bruno to leave before he killed her? When he finally had Trish, why did he take his time carrying her around the place just in time for Bruno to get there instead of just killing her immediately? Why didn't he double-check to make sure Polnareff was dead, considering he had extremely compromising information about him (and not to mention, he revealed his Stand and explained its entire ability to him!? Why does he do that??) On that note, why did he explain his entire Stand ability to Bruno, either? This part has way too many plot conveniences, man.

4. The way that King Crimson's ability works, albeit somewhat confusing and hard to portray in manga format, was something I thought was genuinely pretty cool. The issue with it is that it breaks its own rules sometimes. It's an outlined rule that Diavolo cannot interact with anything during the time that he "erases", and yet we do see him interact with several things- he takes Trish, cuts off the fortune teller's hand, and impales Narancia all during erased time, despite us seeing how he isn't supposed to be able to interact with anything (like with Aerosmith and the bullets passing right through his body).

The explanation for this is that these events were "fated" to happen, and since Diavolo is only able to change his fate during erased-time and no one else's, the events still ended up happening even if it breaks King Crimson's logic. However, I still found this explanation to be cheap.

Those are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I like pretty much everything else about their personalities/actions, but these are the main things that I would probably change or try to lessen if I could go back and time and give Araki advice or something.
