10 of my Favourite Horror (Adjacent) Movies and Why You Should Watch Them
(Not in any particular order or subgenre. TW are super vague, spoiler-free, and from my memory, but I would recommend looking up more specific ones before watching any of these if you are easily triggered. Not all triggers are listed because these are horror movies, so stuff like death and murder is to be expected.)
Let me know if y’all want a part 2, because I’ve got about 7 more! (It could have been one post if Tumblr didn’t limit my images to 10)
1. Parasite
Tumblr media
A struggling lower class family slowly integrates itself into the household of a rich family without their knowledge.
Most of you have already seen this one, or been told to watch it. I am no different: this movie is popular for a very good reason. Divided into 3 clear acts, starting with comedy, and making its way through drama into horror. Also, great commentary on classism, very psychological at times and makes you wonder who you should really be rooting for.
Scary: 2/10
Gore: 3/10
Disturbing: 5/10
Psychological: 6/10
Actual genre: Dark comedy thriller
2. The House That Jack Built
Tumblr media
Serial killer Jack recounts some of his most influential murders.
A bit infamous and controversial for being very messed up, but still really good. Highly psychological, with a lot of narration and use of metaphor. Especially fun if you have any knowledge of Dante’s Inferno. Definitely not one to watch if you want a protagonist to root for.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 6/10
Disturbing: 10/10
Psychological: 8/10
Actual Genre: psychological horror art
TW: sexism, corpse mutilation
3. Creep (1&2)
Tumblr media
A man is hired to help film messages from a dying man to his son.
I’m usually not a fan of found-footage, but there’s something special about Creep. On top of that, this is one of the few movies where I can confidently say I like the sequel more, which is shocking because the first one was amazing. Very funny and off-beat, with a sense of foreboding underlying the whole thing.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 1/10
Disturbing: 3/10
Psychological: 4/10
Actual genre: found footage psychological horror
4. Mother!
Tumblr media
A woman and her poet husband live quietly in a secluded house away from society.
Very metaphorical and highly feminist; definitely not a movie that everyone appreciates, but if you enjoy analysis or just being really weirded out then this is a good for you. Starts slow and snowballs toward the horrific climax.
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 7/10
Disturbing: 7/10
Psychological: 8/10
Actual genre: psychological horror
TW: cannibalism
5. Perfect Blue
Tumblr media
Mima is a young pop star looking to join the acting industry.
Brutally realistic to the point where I had to stop watching and take a walk at one point. Very much “female rage” and a protagonist that will live in your head rent free for the next 6 years (or maybe that’s just me). Very triggering in a lot of ways, but worth it if you’re not sensitive to the topics it covers.
Scary: 5/10
Gore: 4/10 (animated)
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 10/10
Actual genre: psychological thriller
TW: depersonalization/derealization, nudity, stalking, rape scene (she is acting in a tv show but it is still the most uncomfortable scene of the movie), inaccurate portrayal of DID
6. Midsommar
Tumblr media
A couple and their friends go on a vacation to their friend’s remote hometown for a Midsommar festival.
Probably the best-known out of this list, and again for a good reason. 90% of the film takes place in broad daylight, and the visuals are absolutely gorgeous. Once again will bring up the question of who is in the right and who is in the wrong (I have the answer to this question and I will fight you in dms if you’d like).
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 8/10
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 7/10
Actual genre: folk horror
TW: long and graphic sex scene, nudity, close up and graphic gore, cult stuff, suicide
7. The Call
Tumblr media
A woman moves back to her childhood home and receives a call from the woman who lived there 30 years prior.
I got really into modern Asian horror films a few months ago and this is one of my favourites. The dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist is one of my favourites, and finishing this movie felt like finishing a 3 season TV show because of how well paced it was. Really hoping there will be a sequel with the same concept, even if it is not likely.
Scary: 6/10
Gore: 3/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 6/10
Actual genre: psychological thriller
TW: abuse
8. Incantation
Tumblr media
A cursed woman takes back custody of her young daughter and does everything she can to keep away the effects of her curse.
This one was popular on TikTok for a while, and for good reason. Another found footage in a more traditional sense, and a bit confusing at times, but overall a really solid scary story. Very cool effects as well.
Scary: 6/10
Gore: 4/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 5/10
Actual genre: supernatural horror
TW: derealization
9. Pearl
Tumblr media
A farm girl dreams about leaving home and living as a show girl.
Mia Goth is a national treasure, but we all knew that already. I watched this one before X (the actual first movie) because I didn’t know they were connected, but I much preferred this one. The Wizard of Oz vibes combined with Pearl’s unsettling behaviour made is a really creep film to watch.
Scary: 4/10
Gore: 4/10
Disturbing: 6/10
Psychological: 5/10
Actual genre: horror
TW: porn
10. The Platform
Tumblr media
A man is stuck in a prison where a platform of food is lowered through the layers of cells for inmates to eat as they please.
I’m a sucker for psychological movies that take place in a very limited space. If you’ve ever played and enjoyed the game Presentable Liberty then I’m gonna go ahead and say you’ll like this too. Not every question is answered, but the film is more about the human condition than the prison they inhabit, so it’s not too much of a problem.
Scary: 2/10
Gore: 9/10
Disturbing: 8/10
Psychological: 9/10
Actual genre: social science fiction horror
TW: cannibalism, suicide

Bachelor/ettes and Horror
How would our ladies and gentlemen fair with scary things?
Bachelors:
Sebastian -- He loves all things horror. Has opinions on every subgenre, slasher rankings, and probably some amount of memorabilia. He vastly prefers sci-fi horror (Alien, the Thing, Pandorum) or supernatural. Plays indie horror games on his computer. If the farmer is a horror hound, they will have a friend in Sebastian.
Shane -- He's not really the type to put horror on, but it's never bothered him. He likes goofy 70s-80s stuff best, and I don't think he would enjoy 'cerebral' horror. Thinks the special effects are cool. Will mix up the big slasher names.
Elliott -- It may be controversial to put him high, but I almost put him higher. He does NOT like anything gory or icky, but I think he would really love older horror from the 40s-50s and giallo films. There's some more artistic ones that he would probably like as well. He would prefer to read horror, and has read quite a few classics. It's not his favorite genre by any means, but sometimes gets a taste for it in late fall.
Sam -- He's not a fan. He's seen some big ones with Sebastian, but he's fairly squeamish and can't handle intense gore. Gets scared pretty easily. Really wishes he could handle them, his besties love it.
Alex -- Does not like horror. Doesn't understand why someone would want to feel scared. He isn't easily grossed out, but doesn't like seeing horror violence. Simply Does Not Get It.
Harvey -- He's baby. Easily scared, even when it's 50's era stuff. Never expects a jumpscare, too much empathy for violence, will think the house is haunted for two weeks after Poltergeist. He's comedic levels unable to handle anything remotely spooky.
---
Bachelorettes
Abigail -- On par with Sebastian, maybe even more into it. Loves all things grody and scary, UNLESS spiders are involved. Better than Sebastian at recommending stuff to people who don't know anything about where to start. Loves supernatural stuff best. Orders a lot of horror comics online.
Maru -- Lives with Sebastian, so he's definitely shown her a number of things way too early when she bugged him to hang out. Is not easily frightened, and finds science based stuff really interesting. Thinks gore effects are cool and is really interested in behind the scenes stuff. Fave is probably something like Reanimator or Chopping Mall.
Leah -- She's not super into scary movies, but doesn't mind them every once in a while. Likes artier stuff like Suspiria or Pan's Labyrinth.
Emily -- Not really a fan, but might watch an older movie around Spirits Eve. Like Elliott, more likely to read something with horror concepts than watch it. Would probably like House of Leaves.
Haley -- Does not like horror. Thinks all horror is gory slashers, will not open herself up to more.
Penny -- Gets so fucking scared it's not funny. They make her sick. Does not enjoy any type of horror, even some drama is too much to bear. Really only enjoys watching happy things.

this interview from fangoria #32 (pg. 10) with c.h.u.d. producer andrew bonime was cracking me up because he basically spoils the entire movie in this 2 page interview but also it's kind of charming to see how much he believed in this movie as a contribution to the horror genre but also the political aspects of the film that drive the plot that genuinely do have value in discussing views on environmentalism and poverty and government conspiracies and fears surrounding urban life which are as relevant today as they were when this movie came out. people think i'm joking when i tell them how much i like this movie but i really do like this movie a lot, i think it really commits to the premise and finds a lot to explore in it and makes a lot of interesting connections and speaks to some cultural ideas a lot of people take for granted. in this interview, you can tell that the story was written with real thought and care! even if it's "just" a schlocky 80s creature feature. anyway..... one of the responses i get to this post about gore as a storytelling device is that filmmakers in horror don't "intend" the meaning i'm reading into it so it somehow doesn't count and they shouldn't "get credit" for it if it wasn't intentional. well, this just goes to show you that you can have all the intention in the world to create a political, super scary sci-fi thriller and every review will say it's stupid, cheap, meaningless schlock with some "unintentional" moments of humor or political relevance. maybe that makes it an unsuccessful movie, fair enough, but don't tell me you don't see the dissonance between the production of b-movies and their perception in pop culture. i see it all the time with slumber party massacre too, like people will say the humor is unintentional or they pass along this half-true idea that the original script was a comedy but the filmmakers didn't realize that so the humor doesn't land, but like! it's meant to be a satire! that "unintentional" humor is just. you getting the joke that the filmmakers intended for you to make. yes there was an original script that was more slapstick/parody, the final script was toned down in that respect but it's still comedic! intentionally! if the humor doesn't land, fine, it's not for you, but it's not because the filmmakers were somehow unaware of the intent of the script. ugh. anyway. it's also funny though because as much as c.h.u.d. is disparaged like this, bonime in turn disparages slasher movies in this interview lol it's like okay, stones and glass houses my guy. with all that having been said, uh. sorry if you don't like c.h.u.d. i guess, i definitely get that it's not for everyone but i also don't like it when people immediately have bad faith interpretations of b-movies, i think those of us who love a cult classic understand that there's a lot more to get out of these kinds of movies than what meets the eye and there's a lot more fun to be had when you go into watching them with an open mind and, well, reasonable expectations.

fnaf movie expectations
ngl i dont think the fnaf movie is going to be like amazing or anything, im just gonna be happy if its fun and watchable, i can even enjoy "bad" movies and like i never thought blumhouse would make it a 10/10, 8/10 at most but if its like a 6 its still fine by me. like when i heard its by bh i had my doubts it will be any good, then they made megan which kinda raised my expectations but its still bh... aaaand i feel like keeping it PG was a good idea because i feel like adults will generally dislike it, teens will be too snarky and hate it because its cool to hate, but kids will love it and bring in the money and open the door to more possibilities
i would also watch a random flick of springtrap just mauling people or the fazgang being cute so this movie having at least a bit of coherent lore is just a plus. yeah it would be better if it was more scary but to me for that you need long quiet passages, and with a movie like this where you need to tell a story i dont think its that possible... and relying on jumpscares again without the entire og fnaf game vibe is hard, they just wont be scary, which is fine by me
as for blood, yeah id love it to be bloody, i currently have no idea what the movie is gonna be like because i heard they toned it down and hid a lot but also that they showed a lot, the rating i saw said bloody violence or something like that so i honestly have no idea, but i expect that one bloody handprint at most
now i do appreciate artsy gore or the way the games handle it so i dont mind at all, BUT if we ever see actual springtrap in the future, i want him to be super gory otherwise it wont do (if he looks like burntrap im in) but im worried if thats a route theyre gonna take, i cant really imagine matthew crawling around in a rotting springtrap suit... i will see if that changes after seeing him as spring bonnie but idk how fast he will be in that thing because springtrap is extremely fast. watching the movie for him

Aah sorry for bothering you this much, l'm very bored at the moment and have nothing to do so though why not bother a fav writer of mine so yeah, and I didn't end up taking a nap had too much to do despite loving naps a lot too😔. Tbh I didn't expect much from the fnaf movie don't really know why but I didn't🤷🏻‍♂️, maybe it’s cuz I’m not a big fan of horror movies , since sometimes they put too much jump scares in the movie and barley any story line or it’s just story but nothing scary or anything. Btw what would be your fav genre in series/movies??
Okay but HELLOO!! I legit thought abt the same thing with price too, like they genuinely look so soft to suck or kiss on🤭😩. The daddy issues kicking in ig main reason why I’ve got a thing for dilfs but oh well. This prob the last thing I’ll say for today so yeah.
-🐍
You’re not bothering me sugar pls don’t say that!!! You are always welcome in my inbox always and thank u sm for considering me to be one of ur favs I really appreciate it sugar 🥹 I hope you get lots of sleep tonight then !!! Also I totally get what you mean unfortunately a lot of horror movies these days rely on jump scares, gore or the r word it’s horrible, but I personally love horror although I’m super picky with what movie I like bc as I said some of these really just make a clownery out of the genre 😭 something that genuinely freaks me out is home invasions in horror movies idk why it’s always been something that scared me so if a horror movie has that element just know I’m freaked out what genre do u like sugar?
Also hope u have a wonderful rest of ur day/ night fellow dilf lover MWAH

Idk if you got any idea wtf is wrong with me but I'm super turned on by gore and it makes my nerves BURN with pleasure, but most of my nightmares are about being gored or goring someone and those are terrifying to me and cause a lot of anxiety and stress. Do you think its bc conscious gore is controlled or?
Sorry I honestly have no one in my life that can even kinda relate to this and I would never dare admit it's a day turn on and night turn off. I dont expect you to have answers but you get a lot of gore loving traffic(thank god) so I was wondering if you heard anything like it?
Thank you luv you<3<3
Well Im no psychiatrist and I dont know your circumstances or relation to your eroticisms. I do suggest looking into what you feel and why during both situations From an outside perspective what I would gather is that when we consume art/porn its done in a controlled environment where you are consenting. You as the viewer or creator are in a safe spot where you can choose how to consume the content. While in a nightmare youre not necessarily consenting despite it being your own mind. Its out of your control and no matter how hot media is of gore a real life (or in this case, lifelike) scenario is scary !

walked in on jonah and peachy watching the second half of the first 'fear street' movie and sat down to watch the rest of the trilogy with them!! :) i'm not normally a horror movie person but the story was SOOOOOOOOO incredibly strong and compelling. the story and horror felt equally important and interwoven, like, the movie just wouldn't work without both. extremely good. really really really good.
spoilery specifics below cut
also the main characters are Real Lesbian Girlfriends and they BOTH LIVE!!!!! and so does one of the girls' sweet brother (theyre black this is why i have to worry about this)
the gore was rough at moments (not unwatchable for me but if you ARE squeamish that way its going to be a tough watch) but i never felt like.... TOO much?? it achieved the purpose of Unsettling The Shit Out Of Me without feeling like it was there JUST to be gross and get a reaction. like. it WAS gross. i DID react. but it served the tone and didn't overstay the welcome
and the TWISTS!!!!! THE MULTI LAYERED LORE!!!! THE WAY YOULL NEVER GUESS WHATS GOING ON BUT IT DOESNT FEEL LIKE A CHEAP 180 JUST TO TRICK YOU. LIKE IT WORKS. THE WITCH IS SO SCARY AND HER LORE MAKES IT SO MUCH SCARIER FOR REASONS U JUST CANNOT PREDICT. LIKE. I DONT WANNA SPOIL IT EVEN IN MY DESIGNATED SPOILER ZONE
also sam and deena (the lesbians) are EVERYTHING to me. deena is an incredible character. i think i missed a lot of sam's characterization due to missing the first 3/4 of the first movie but she REALLY compelled me even so. and DEENA IS JUST. SO GOOD. her love and courage being so potent even though she's also suffering from so much fear and anger. she's so fucking cool.
anyway. if you're chill with gore and "murderers hunting protags like sport" type horror it's INCREDIBLE and i highkey recommend the whole trilogy. like. what the fuck i loved it. it's so unsettling. that's the word i keep going back to! like, it's NOT jumpscare heavy, the suspense and atmosphere does a great job of setting the right expectations up; none of the sudden jumps to action felt cheap. i wasn't TERRIFIED but i was UNSETTLED AND COMPELLED?? i think this is what normal horror buffs get out of these movies???? and getting to actually FEEL that because the movie doesnt botch itself on cheap shock value (that DOES always get me but not in the enjoyable way) was really cool. fun fun movie even if ur not super into horror imo.
definitely check out a trigger warning list tho, just because there's a lot of different kinds of gore and for me at least, certain things are triggering while others arent. and there's stuff besides that i think is worth knowing ahead of time, like period typical homophobia and animal death. those are the ones that stood out to me but definitely find a thorough list
anyway i am in love with deena. absolute woman of all time. if ur one of her haters ill blow you up

so i need littel help, I wanna have a movie Marathon day at Halloween. And just more to wacht, soooo what is your favorit scary movies? or movies for Halloween season? pretty pleas:3 Thank you, and have a good wahtever time.
i usually just watch whatever the girl puts on. and then 20 minutes in we end up fucking.. so.. i'm not a good person to ask for movie recs
ooc// BILLY IS A LOSER BUT I LOVE THIS QUESTION SO I'M ANSWERING IT. Super long kind of info-dumpy spam of movie recs below the cut! Happy Halloween!
My two favorite halloween/horror movies are Scream (1996) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006). Scream is a classic, I don't have to talk about that one. But Billy and Stu are sexy and I love that the film subverts expectations by giving us 2 killers instead of 1.
TCM (2006) is a prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and you could watch them in either order to be honest. They're both great. I just prefer 2006 because Thomas (Leatherface) wears a half-mask in that one so we get to see his eyes and his glorious hair. Sexy chainsaw man go brr. And naturally I love The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) because I love Bubba and Nubbins. And the door slam scene and the chainsaw swinging scene and the 70s fashion and the grab/hook scene. Ugh. Amazing. That being said, the ableism in the beginning it rough to watch if you're sensitive to it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) is kind of.. not great. It's watchable, but you'll probably not like any of the main characters and they made Bubba a Michael Myers clone which ruins his character. I'd say you probably won't like this one if you like the other TCM movies. If you like Halloween you might like it though? Watch this one first if you want to like it.. lmao.
I also suggest Hocus Pocus for a halloween movie because it's a classic and I love the witches.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) fucking sucks; don't waste your time unless you're really dedicated to seeing Johnny Depp in a crop top for like 3 minutes.
The original Halloween is also bad in my opinion, I'd recommend the Rob Zombie remake instead.
Saw 1 and 2 are really good but don't watch them if you hate being stressed out or if you don't like gore. A lot of people say those movies are torture porn and I wouldn't necessarily say that for the first two, but there's still a lot of gore in them. Not as much as in the other ones but... you know. Needle Pit. The Mask. Reverse Bear Trap.
The Babadook is really good and scary. It's very psychological. Midsommar is good too but I wouldn't say it's scary? Like, outright? Us (2019) is super freaky, definitely watch that. Jennifer's Body isn't scary (to me), but it's sexy so for sure watch that one. Orphan (2009) is really good and a prequel just came out that is ALSO insanely good and I beg you to watch both. The Orphanage (2007) is freaky and I recommend that too.
Pan's Labyrinth isn't technically a horror movie but it can get creepy as fuck and is really good. The Dark Crystal isn't horror but it can also get creepy so that and The Neverending Story could be good to watch. If you watch those two, throw in Labyrinth (1986) as well. Add in The Last Unicorn too because it has a similar vibe as the rest of them.
Oh! Black Swan is fucking awesome too so watch that! It starts pretty normal and then slowly gets freakier and freakier. Same with Oculus, though people have mixed feelings with that one. The Ward is a movie that scared the ever-living shit out of 14 year old me. I don't know if it still holds up, but you can give it a go.
Train to Busan is pretty okay if you like zombie stuff. Warm Bodies isn't horror but it's also a zombie movie and one of my all-time faves. Fido I don't think is "horror" but I like that one too.
Okay, this is WAY too long so I'm stopping here, but if anyone else wants mun's opinions on horror movies, please ask.

My comfort person
Is this a ridiculous post? Maybe. I just wanted to make a post freaking fangirling about him. There’s never anything positive on my page so I thought I’d try this to brighten the mood at least a little.
Chan from Stray Kids.
Alright so I’ve liked him for a long time. He’s my first ever SKZ bias and the only bias from that group ever. I recently (like a year ago I mean) got more into Stray Kids and I like him even more now.
He’s just so perfect. It’s almost annoying to be honest. First of all he’s my ideal type of friend or significant other or whatever so he of course fits all of these bigger, more important standards or preferences I have. But then he like fits all of my little stupid ideals. Like those small ones that don’t matter at all. And it’s honestly bad for me because you can’t tell me I have too high standards or ideals and a person like that doesn’t exist because I know he does. Anyway I obviously don’t expect people to fit my standards completely because who am I to judge others but still. But just like the fact that someone actually exists that is perfect when judging with even my stupidest preferences is scary.
He’s just so comforting. Which is why he’s my comfort person lol. Listening to his voice makes me calmer and everything. And an embarrassing fact, I fall asleep thinking about him most nights. BUT I have a very good reason to be embarrassing like that. And it’s the fact that I’ve been getting nightmares every night recently. And they’re these stupid gore things and stuff too. Doesn’t make any sense? Well because of the nightmares I’m afraid to go to sleep and I get super stressed and anxious when I close my eyes and that really doesn’t help with falling asleep. So I think of Chan because I know it calms me down and I can actually fall asleep. So if I don’t think of him I just stress over the upcoming nightmares. And I don’t just eventually fall asleep. Instead I get so freaking scared I have to turn on the lights and distract myself somehow so I don’t cry lol. So thank you Chan for being the sole reason I can sleep.
And then there’s his duality. He’s so cute and fluffy and then another moment he’s super hot and he’s got this aura and stuff. It’s great for gaining fans because there’s different things for different people to enjoy I guess? But duality is great for me because I crave a lot of different things from human relationships because I’m *drumroll...* a freaking loner lol.
First off, I crave physical touch because pandemic. I don’t get hugs anymore like ever. And doesn’t Chan love hugs? That’s absolutely perfect. So like the fluffy hair cute Chan is someone I would want to hug constantly if I knew him in real life.
Secondly... I have giant freaking daddy issues lol. Not a surprise. So all of those things (you know what I’m talking about lol) he says on Chan’s room just feed into that fantasy lol.
And third there’s this thing about him where he doesn’t seem to like himself very much. And broken people sometimes really want to fix other people and I am a broken person who has always tried to do that lol. So I have this stupid fantasy of being the savior of someone’s life and if I feel like thinking about it, Chan could maybe fit into that fantasy too. Obviously in reality that fantasy is dumb and harmful but doesn’t hurt to think about it right.
There more things I could expand on but I’m done with numbers because they are stupid and I hate them.
Chan’s so funny too. There’s nothing bad I could say of him. It’s like whatever I feel like wanting Chan’s got.
And that’s all his personality. I’d date a person like him even if he looked like a sack of potatoes. But Chan’s so freaking handsome. Like how even? And he takes care of his body so well too. I usually don’t really care for muscles but they suit him so well but it’s not like he even needs them to look good. I just don’t get how he looks so good. What is it about his appearance that I like so much? I just can’t seem to figure it out.
So this was a mess and the whole post is all over the place. Even my attempt to be positive was messed up by the fact that I kept calling myself embarrassing. Doesn’t really matter to me though. I don’t mind a badly written fangirling essay on my page haha. Maybe I’ll write a better version sometime. Maybe not. Anyway this will be something fun to look back on.

cw // a little bit of gore and death
oh you think that’s it? nah, it gets worse-
i remember when i was about 11 years old, i saw jonghyun in my dream and everything seemed happy at first.
but then, i saw key with a knife and was chasing him to STAB him. i literally heard kibum saying “you ruined my life” and “i hate you” to him as he finally manages to catch him and tie him up with a skipping rope.
he had a knife to his ear and said “you better repay me or you’re dead” then suddenly taemin tried to save him but failed as he was constantly sliced into pieces.
also yes, there was a lot of gore- but i’m not going to describe it for obvious reasons
jonghyun was there screaming for help whilst taemin tried to get up from the floor and take the knife off kibun and then ACCIDENTALLY killed jonghyun 😩
but it gets even worse-
once jonghyun was just about to die, he literally started by eating his leg until he couldn’t scream anymore. (also he was upside down so-)
the rest was quite gory since i would see shinee literally eating jonghyun until he was down to the bones like he was a piece of chicken and when i woke up, i started crying to my mother and she had to calm me down and put me back to sleep.
here’s a wholesome dream i had!
one time, i saw jinki running towards a farm nude and he picked up a chicken so he could- put some “homemade filling” inside of it and whilst he was doing that, all the chicken grew bigger until they were big enough to kill him by pecking him to death.
that’s probably the most normal dream i could get… i don’t remember any normal dreams i got-
some of my dreams may involve the r word and i honestly don’t want to get into that too much for obvious reasons but i’ll say “jonghyun” so you can put two and two together. also that was when i was about 12/13 when i had been getting flashbacks…
also i get beaten up in my dreams so- fun! very fun!
oh yeah my sister told me last night that she dreamt about seeing jonghyun and jinki doing the nasty when suddenly they got killed by a gun.
then taemin came in and literally said “omg toys! thanks hyung!” before playing their dead naked bodies as toys.
she woke up confused, but not surprised - just like how i would be. we’re literally the same, even my cousins is like that.
you know that cousin that got me into shinee? the one that is about the same age as you? she has the same problem as me where she gets weird dreams that makes no sense that you would wake up all confused.
they were so weird that one time we both had the same dream as each other one time. and boy- i’m not gonna tell you what happened because it is BRUTAL…
so yeah… defo runs in the family.
Oh my gosh, I didn't expect it to get worse. I am sending you so much love and light so you and your family can have nice sweet easy going dreams. Maybe sleep with crystal quartz or selenite to clear the energy and obsidian for protection or even rose quartz for extra love. If you believe in crystals. I always have crystals around me. I very rarely have scary dreams except one a frat guy was chasing my best friend and I down the street with a chain saw after I saved her from some sort of gross fraternity thing. Or I have in dream sleep paralysis where I'm asleep in a dream and get that sleep paralysis effect one dream I woke up so scared and I went down stairs and Grayson Dolan cuddled with me on the couch and we ate ice cream. I use to dream about the Dolan Twins a lot. I really send you nothing but good vibes so you can have super happy dreams. Also Onew is naked a lot in your dreams. That fascinates me. Once one by one NCT 127 took their penis's out in the door way to a living room. That's it then they left. But naked Onew three times is so interesting. Your dream Onew doesn't like clothes

Some horror movies that I love
*spoilers head*
SCREAM (1996)
Tumblr media
This isn’t just one of my favourite horror movies; it’s one of my favourite movies ever. I think they just got the horror formula perfect in this.
The Drew Barrymore opening scene is iconic. All of actors played the characters so well. I will say that I think most people can guess that Billy is the killer, so that’s not really a huge surprise, but Stu being the second killer is the actual surprise. I think that was the actual killer reveal, and Billy was supposed to be the obvious one.
It’s not too long and it’s not just full of a ton of pointless deaths to add gore. The dialogue is smart. The audience isn’t treated like an idiot. At the heart of it, there’s a good story there.
ALIEN
Tumblr media
A lot of people would probably expect me to put the second movie in this franchise, Aliens, above the first, and while I love Aliens too, I enjoy the first a little more.
There’s an element of shock and fear in the first one that isn’t as prevalent in the second. In the first, all of the characters are just regular people, who are thrown into a terrifying situation. I love that in a horror movie. None of these characters are soldiers and they don’t have tons of weapons/guns. It makes them more vulnerable.
This movie has a wonderful atmosphere, and unlike in the sequels, the alien is actually scary here because it’s so unknown, and we don’t know much about it.
HALLOWEEN (1978)
Tumblr media
This is a perfect horror movie. It just is. The suspense, the characters, the deaths, Michael Myers, the music, it’s all perfect.
It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen this, it still keeps my attention every time. I think what makes it so scary is that it could happen to anyone. Laurie Strode is just a regular girl, who’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s no reason for this to happen to any of these characters.
If anyone is interested into getting into the horror genre, I always steer them towards this movie.
READY OR NOT
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest, I didn’t have super high expectations going into this movie. I’ve seen a lot of bad horror movies, especially recently, so I wasn’t sure about this one, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
The premise was interesting, and along with the horror aspect, there’s also a lot of humour. The cast was great. Samara Weaving was wonderful in this role, and idk if I would’ve enjoyed this movie as much if she hadn’t been in it. Her scream in this was iconic 🤌

With October just about to a close, I feel like talking about the books I read over the month as I didn't have a particularly great time. It wasn't that the books were bad, they just weren't the kind of horror I was looking for, for October reads. If I wasn't reading them for the horror thrill, then I would like them very much and did enjoy quite a bit, but it wasn't hitting the itch hardly at all that I was looking to scratch this month.
Again! This doesn't mean these books are bad! And that's particularly why I want to talk about them, because it's super fascinating to me that I can simultaneously see how they are correctly categorized as horror (well… from my perspective which is not super literate in the horror genre) and yet not invoke that thrill of books like say even The Coldest Girl in Cold Town or something as perfectly horror as A Winter Haunting (none of what I read will be gore heavy if I can help it XD)
The Gilda Stories by Jewelle Gomez Okay, this is one that I think should have been just fantasy and not horror at all. It's a book about vampires. They feed on humans, but they don't kill them. Rather, the ones we follow don't. I think the last chapter could work as horror, but it didn't like, build up to the last chapter over time in a way that I think lets the rest of the book qualify as horror when it's just a book about a vampire going through the ages. I very much liked this book! I quite enjoyed a book that was about a vampire that read a lot like just a sort of, domestic going about life story. I mean, it's obviously not just like that, but a lot of it kind of is. Managing relationships, who we let in, how we keep growing, when we trust ourselves and grow in that trust, etc. I very much enjoyed, but I actually think this would make a better Spring book.
The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould This worked for me! Not all of them failed to scratch the itch, and this was one of those. It is a young adult, which means that it didn't go as dark as other horror will, but it had a very good build of tension and mystery around scary supernatural stuff that had the protagonists feeling out of their depth and even, on occassion, clawing at each other (not literallly) in their distress at not being able to make sense of what is happening. Very good. Very spoopy.
Haunted Wisconsin by Beth Scott & Michael Norman I wanted to read this in October, and I'm glad I did. I never expect any sort of real thrill from nonfiction. It's a compilation of ghost stories, and as someone who enjoys ghost stories but has never been able to place myself in the feelings of real ghost presence (aka I don't have that sense of belief in ghosts which does NOT mean I do not believe others' experiences. I can't force myself to believe shit.) So there's no regret here, and they were very interesting, but no real horror thrill. If more of my fiction books had managed that aspect, it would be a disappointment to me at all that I spent so much time on this book.
The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris Only the last like, chapter or two felt like I was reading a horror book. I did go in knowing that it would go in that direction, and it did properly build to it by the end where it tracked and felt pretty earned, but if I hadn't known, I could have missed a lot of what makes this book a thriller/horror. There was a lot of anxiety but not so much thrill. I also don't think the ending works well without looking at it through a horror lens, so I do think it's properly placed in the genre, but for about 90% of the book, it didn't Feel horror.
The Ruins by Scott Smith Yeah this one was horror. Thru and thru. Hahaha. It was a summer horror though, which was a little sad to me. In some books that aren't seasonal, I can still sort of picture it taking place during the season in which I'm reading it, but this took place primarily outside in hot, humid heat. No pretending that's taking place in any sort of autumn XD
Fledgling by Octavia Butler This one also falls into a similar situation for me as The Gilda Stories. It read more like a fantasy featuring vampires. It had more horror elements than The Gilda Stories, particularly thru the first two thirds of the book. But the last section was a trial (which was really interesting! And I enjoyed reading very much!) And that just didn't feel horror. I see why it's in the genre, and enough horror-like stuff happens that it seems it deserves it, but it didn't do much to give me that horror thrill. Very good read! Wish I'd have read it a different time of the year.
Vampire Forensics by Mark Collins Jenkins This is in the same category as Haunted Wisconsin almost down to a T. This had a little bit more going for it due to talking at length about decomposition and the way people reacted to corpses when decomposition wasn't thoroughly understood. There's something grotesque but also uncannily relatable about how people would react to the viscera they would see during the decomp process.
The Vampyre; A Tale by John Polidori Victorian novella? Okay this was pretty good with setting a gothic eerie atmosphere… at times. But it was such a short story that only really small sections could be put in those settings. Still, a good October read!
Sorrowland by Rivers Soloman I am 81% through this. This has more horror in it than Fledgling or Gilda Stories, but reads also very similiarly. Things will be mundane, and then they'll be horror! Then things will be mundane (in terms of horror stuff) for a while, and then it's horrorish again! I also fully realize it's required for the story that's being told, but they stripped the mystery away a little too much for it to have that really horror thrill instead of the sort of fantasy quest feeling. The fact that we're only seeing the horror happen to one person and we understand why and how it's happening strips a lot of the thrill away even while it definitely has strong horror elements. I suppose it could go harder from here on out, but it's ramping up to feel much more like a revenge quest from here and while that can be scary, one of the hallmarks imo to horror is the lack of ability to do anything about the horror (until perhaps like the last moment or in a very intangible way) and that just doesn't feel especially present here (unless we're talking like on systemic levels but that kind of circles right around to the fantasy/sci-fi genre WHICH ARE GOOD GENRES but yeah)
The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion by Margaret Killjoy Listening to this on the It Will Happen Here podcast with the spouse (he's a huge fan of the Robert Evans podcasts) and that is absolutely hitting the spots. Uliksi is a fantastic monster, and Danielle is so perfectly out of her depth both in terms of what is happening with him and in terms of his history/the community that summoned him. Excited to finish this up.
This is Halloween by James Moore. A++ This is perfect. Chef's Kiss. I'm glad I'll be finishing up the month with this. I am 73% through this one. It's a series of short stories with an emphasis of occurring during October/Autumn and it's just fingerlicking good as that's EXACTLY what I love most to read this time of year. I could read a whole novel(la) about the Beldam Woods creatures. So far he did three stories in that universe or whatever, and they all super hit the spot for me. Those monsters were so neat and yet different and just yeah. Big fan.
Some of these will eventually get added to my spoopy reading list, but definitely not all of them. Not because they're not horror, but because I just don't know that I really recommend them for the season. Ah well.

ok so, for people who know the webtoon app, here's my little top ten:
Space Boy. I know not everyone knows it, it might not be in the top 10 most read of the app, but it's wholesome, it's fantastically well build (as in worldbuilding-wise), it's got thriller, it's got sci-fi, it's got love (not necessarily romance), it's got wonderful supporting characters... wait no actually. there are no supporting characters. Every character is so deep and so well-written they are not supporting characters anymore. The best webtoon ever. By @stephenmccranie
Leaving the wholesome suspense for creepy thriller, here comes Stagtown. It's... well, it's mindblowing. Every single episode. It's horrific, in a way that will make you claustrophobic but without much gore. A bit of body horror but that's all. It's very psychological. I can't really tell you what the plot is about because even I'm not sure what really is going on. Try it out if you like psych thrillers.
Going into more popular territory, we've got Lore Olympus. TW of sexual assault and abuse, but since it's a modern retelling of greek mythology, it's to be expected. There are a few scenes in which characters bleed but it's golden ichor (gods' blood) so it's not the same. Great romance, great chemistry, great supporting cast and main characters.
Staying in the populars we also have Your Throne. It's currently in hiatus which makes it the best time to binge read it. I was a bit repulsed by the first two episodes or so, but kept reading because a friend encouraged me to, and frankly I've been hooked ever since. It's a bit violent (very violent) but great. A battle of minds between the smartest woman of the empire, the kindest one, and the most evil man. To see their plans unfold and counter each other's is great.
Cursed Princess Club is a masterpiece. It's all about self-esteem and acceptance and loving yourself before you can enter a relationship, plus people vomit rainbows and the prince can taste the feelings of people by eating food they cooked. There are also a few scary clowns and a weretiger. Anyway. Great story, wholesome.
Everything is so cute in Raven Saga! I love the way old supporting characters reappear for a suddenly important plot point, how everything is so intricate but so simple. Also the (secondary apparently) vilain is hot. Kinda-romance between two teens that are so pure and wholesome. Cute all the way.
Now let's put the cute and the wholesome aside. Everything is fine is a great example of not judging stories by their title because everything is not fine. People die. People burn. People get hunted down and beheaded. And everyone is wearing a giant cat head. But everything is fine. Suuuuure. Horror. Lots of blood so be warned.
Woven is both original and nice. A blind main character, a weird trickster of a mentor, a creepy queen, an original magic system, dragons... I loved every episode of it. It also highlights flaws in other stories by not having them so that's great.
Unordinary is a good action/super-hero series. A boy born powerless in a world of power-using people. A corrupt government. In-fighting rebellions. Vigilantes. Murderous conspiracy. School gossip. Lots of violence but if you can get past it it's a very good story.
Subzero is a nice romance fantasy in which the fantasy and the high political stakes take priority over romance a few dozens chapters in. You still worry that the prince and princess will fall in love, but you also kinda want to see the traitorous minister painfully punished and know what the heck the weird mountain priestress' deal is.
Now tho, I also have a (non-numbered) list of favorite completed series.
Anarasumanara is great. All along you've got no idea what really is going on. It's confusing. Eerily so. Recommand to people wanting to read a story then not be sure what was in it but still enjoy it while reading it.
Rot and Ruin is THE best zombies story I ever read. Now, granted, I don't read lots of them. But it touches to important questions, usually left out of other stories on the same theme: how to the survivors cope with knowing one of their family members is a zombie? Is it ethical to torture a zombie since it's dead, or is it not since it's still somehow alive (and human)? Who is the worse monster, a zombie or a wretched human? Also the MC's older brother is hot. There are horses. Cute romance between MC and FL. Love it.
Behind the Gifs. Hilarious. Re-reading it at least once a year and given it's length it's quite an achievement. Cannot recommand it enough. Comical and funny. No angst or not much. When it does with special arcs, it's still light-angst, in a ''angst but what if it was funny'' way. Best thing to read when you're feeling low.
Siren's Lament. A twist on the usual mermaids' tales, with great plot, great worldbuilding, great way to solve the love triangle, great everything. It would definitely be on my top 10 above if it was still releasing.
My Deepest Secret. Actually it's so secret I won't tell you. Nah just kidding. It's a romance... er, not wait. It starts as a romance. But it's actually a thriller. A deeper and darker thriller with every passing episode. TW of child abuse and blood and stalking.
Toaster Dude. Super-heros but make it stupidly funny. I love it.
The wrath and the dawn. It's the 1001 Nights' Tales but rewritten. There's a lot of twists. There a whirlwind romance. There are great supporting characters (supporting characters are everything). Backstabbing and magic galore.
Now tho a list of my favorite webtoons wouldn't be complete without a few canvas recommendations.
Deities of the Ancient. The titanomachy (greek mythology) as faithful as possible (except not making Hera and her sisters Zeus' sisters too, but it's a take that is taken in most rewritings since it would give way to incest) and with GREAT art. I mean even if it was only for the art I would read it. But it has a great plot too.
Bloodstains. A broke woman accepts a job as lab assistant in a creepy manor and her overactive imagination makes her overreact to everything. To be fair tho, since her boss sleepwalks and sleeptalks and sleep-bangs-his-head-against-her-door-at-night, there is a solid basis to her reactions. It's hilarious and the art is great.
Carry On, the Road to Rackenroon. A story in an anthropomorphic/furry world, with the long-lost heiress of a Hyena empires in Africa being almost abducted from her house in the US by her betrothed (she didn't know they were betrothed, too) to be brought in Africa and made the official heiress. Which obviously doesn't please the putative heiresses, the restless crowds, the political ennemies of the empire, etc, etc.
Sugar and Swords. Life as a NPC who doesn't know she is part of a game. Cute and funny.
The Weekly Roll. A lawful good Paladin stuck in a chaotic neutral/evil party and telling tales of their adventures.
Lackadaisy. A furry comics too, in sepia for most parts, in a prohibition-era America, with cats trying to sell their booze while their concurrents shot at them. Of course it's fair game to put their house on fire as retaliation. Every single character is crazy or barely clinging to sanity.
Litterbox comics. A tired mom, her husband and her two kids. They're all anthropomorphized cats but they have the same problems as your average family. It's hilarious and relatable.
Twistwood tales. Either creepy or wholesome depending on the chapter. Short stories/slice of life in a magic wood where animals talk and a plague doctor tries to amputate people with no reason.
Pixie and Brutus. The cutest story to have ever blessed my scroll. An old retired military dog (Brutus obvs) and a cute little kitten (Pixie) who make friends and games in their neighbourhood.
The Heavenly Blessed. Not quite sure what's going on but it's a forbidden love story. Same author as Deities of the Ancient so you know the art is gorgeous.
Pet Foolery. Pixie and Brutus' author if I'm not mistaken. Hilarious stories with an adult Dora the Explorer in one, a self conscious Grim Reaper in another, a Gym Fairy in that one... always funny, sometimes a bit dark but generally just absurd.
Roundhouse. An invincible super-teen who just... gets bored sometimes. Nothing's really a challenge. So basically a super-heros story but with no BBEG since they all get caught in their first chapter, with no angst, just wholesome fluff and a printer set on fire at some point.

Caged Part 1
It has come to my attention that I haven’t written for my favourite genre ever yet. Angst. Enjoy this or not, I want some tears at the very least.
This is for the wonderful villain Au! Inspired by @nicebonescomrade
Warnings: self-harm, thoughts of suicide, abuse, a bit of gore, a lot of self-hate
I’ve never put warnings before because I believed they weren’t needed as everything else I’ve written is rather tame. So please tell me if I missed any.
Part 2 Part 2.5
Something was off. Off in a way even your unconscious mind understood was alarming and unsettling, and so with a bad feeling in your gut and a dry mouth that you couldn’t ignore you opened your heavy eyelids.
It was way too bright. You didn’t remember your room ever being this bright nor your bed ever feeling this... rough? You also didn’t remember your bedroom having a whole damn ocean in it or beside it or anywhere near it, at least not one that looked like this. Confusion made you afraid and fear made you cautious as you took in your surroundings. You had a feeling you knew this place, so maybe you had been here before? Despite waking up on a beach there are no footprints near you as if you didn’t even walk to the place you are standing on now. You aren’t drenched in water, despite the water lapping at the shore not too far away from your little spot. There are too many things that don’t make sense but they should and you should be at home and you should be getting ready for the day and- a cough builds up in your throat and you’re reminded of your thirst.
Staggering a bit you notice only one way you can go in search of drinkable water or even better, civilisation with something that might actually taste good.
_
It is only when you near a city that you finally recognise your surroundings. Admittedly, you should have noticed at the first waypoint, but you had just assumed that whatever happened before, past you had decided to go to some park that was Genshin themed. Wouldn’t be too weird for such a thing to exist, you were sure lots of people would spend hundreds of dollars to step into the world of their favourite game. At least, a replica of that.
But no, you had been way too hopeful and maybe still a bit tired and hungry, the water in the stream you found only somewhat keeping you awake. Staring at the imposing walls you questioned your sanity, blinking slowly as you realised what you long since had known but denied.
So, you were in Genshin. The video game. No wonder the slimes looked so real from a far, they were real. You could have tried petting them. Well, you’re sure you can do that later.
If you really wanted to live here you would have to start making plans, make money, rent a place and then finally meet the characters you’ve only watched through the screen. No matter how scary this revelation was, you couldn’t help but admit that it was exciting. You hadn’t decided yet if that was a good or a bad thing.
_
It was bad. There was no other way to put it or sugarcoat it and you refused to blame luck - or, lack of it - for it. You don’t know what you did wrong, either. Was your walking style that horrendous that it warranted this? Surely not? You remember Mondstadt to be friendly, accepting of travellers, easy-going, a fun place to be. You hadn’t expected them to get all worked up over something you didn’t have time to comprehend yet.
So was this just some super weird and super realistic nightmare? Probably not, if the pain in your left leg was anything to go by, not mentioning the terror caused by being struck with a goddamn arrow, sharp and etched into your flesh, brought there by the fucking anemo archon. There was blood trickling from the wound and with each step you took you could feel the arrow moving beneath the skin. You were kinda in a rush though, so there was no time to remove that thing or treat the wound otherwise.
You had been bewildered when the citizens started to curse you, throwing whatever they could get a hold of at you, a plate shattering directly behind you as pieces carved themselves into you. Amongst them were the very people you loved, that you gushed over, glaring at you so fiercely that you feared they would jump at you any second. You had never thought that these kind people could look so horrifying.
They clearly didn’t like your flabbergast and pained state and before you knew it they started cornering you with the crowd that had formed by now. They ignored your pleas and questions, their faces blurring behind tears as you decided to book it out of there.
You had thought yourself lucky to catch sight of Venti, who looked up curiously at the commotion. If anyone could get you away, it was him.
It didn’t even take a second for his innocent and cute face that you knew and adored to twist into a horrid scowl. The dread grew, your body refused to move further and you could feel yourself trembling. You wanted to bolt away so desperately, but his eyes kept you shackled to the ground. How ironic for the archon of freedom. Hearing the crowd approaching, panic filled you and noticing your intentions the bard was quick to move. Before you knew it, pain shot up your leg and you screamed. You had no time to look at the cause, but the bow in his hand told you enough. You had to get away, now. Finally, you turned and dashed away as good as you could, adrenaline blinding out your injuries, shouts and threats filling the streets behind and beside you until it felt as if they were coming from everywhere, the hateful words burning into your confused mind.
If it wasn’t a dream, what was it? Why was this happening? If you knew the cause, you could change it! Surely, then your favourite characters, no, people, would be happy! You could laugh and dance and sing and make up!
If only they would tell you! If only their screams and cries weren’t so non logical, cursing you an imposter. You would change!
Just please, let them stop chasing you, glaring, kicking, slashing, insulting, hurting you! Get them of your tail, let you rest a little longer, let the wounds heal and your mind silence because it was so loud and fast and you feared you wouldn’t hear them in time to run if this kept up.
_
Your dreams are haunted by flames, licking at your feet and laughing as you stumble in pain, mocking and cursing, tears seeming to scorch your face and no amount of clawing at them makes them stop. When you wake up there are marks on your face you were sure weren’t there before. The fear of the fire consuming you stays even gaining conscious.
They keep you on edge, you tell yourself, make you ready to flee at any time. You’re reminded of the time a knight with blue hair almost stabbed your heart if you hadn’t jolted awake from a nightmare in time. It was Kaeya, your mind supplies and your heart aches at the memory.
They save your live. And they take away from your soul, slowly burning away at its edges until there is nothing left to save.
You still don’t know what caused this. Maybe you were at fault? Maybe you should let them end you? Maybe you should do it yourself?
You freeze at the sudden thought, tears welling up as you notice how hopeless you’ve become. You had been running so long to survive. Was that fire inside of you that wanted to live, turning against you, now? Was it going to incinerate you until all that you were was gone and forgotten, or worse, would the fire be celebrated? For consuming you, for ridding this world from you?
Deciding you need a change you leave the nation of freedom, or hypocrites, as you’ve been calling them, and make your way to Liyue. You had feared their land, the unknown, more than you had feared the Knights of Favonius and treasure horders. There were patterns that you could follow, that you could use to escape with the help of waypoints, but that wasn’t worth your will. Hopefully you’d find some peace.
And someone to call you your name, you haven’t heard it in so long and maybe it is the only thing left of the old you.
_
The pattern you noticed this time was not in your favour.
Again, the same heretics, but this time you had seen the statue. A statue that resembled you to the T. You finally were beginning to understand what your crime was. What you had done wrong.
You didn’t like the answer. Hunted for resembling a face of stone. Hunted for the way you look. Hunted for the crime of your existence.
It was worse than you imagined. Crueller. You wondered if that god had brought you here because you looked like them and if they enjoyed seeing the archon of geo slash at your left leg, reopening more than just one wound. What was it with the archons and your left leg? Was there some kind of target painted on it? Should you scrub it of until there is nothing left? Until your skin turns red and starts to tear from your own hands, revealing flesh and blood and even deeper down, bones? Would they stop then?
You didn’t know. But you were willing to try.
_
You had gotten good at this. The running, the hiding, the suppressing of feelings and thoughts that stood in the way of making it to the next day. You caged the terror, the bitterness and anger in your heart with an empty promise of letting them out the moment you were safe.
You didn’t know how you were still able to add to the enclosure, terror and bitterness were for those that had something to lose or those that had lost something in the past. Had you? You try not to think of a time before the hunt because every time the content of the cage grows, harder to ignore, harder to contain.
Anger was for those that loved. You think you loved once, but they had torn at your heart, making it spill all it had on your escape. Each of them, Jean with her sword, Lisa with her electro, Xiao with his spear and many others had used their weapons to steal a bit of your body in form of blood and from your heart in form of hope.
Anger was for those that loved themselves.
Anger was for those that knew they were treated badly, unjustly.
You don’t know if you deserved to be angry.
_
You did not deserve to be angry.
You think, even though it hurts and your head pounds in protest at the memories, back to when this was a game. One you played for fun. You made them fight your battles for fun. You made them bleed for fun. You forced them onto bloody battlefields, even the children, all for your entertainment. You were sick. You were horrible. You had done this to yourself.
This must be their revenge. You did this to yourself. It doesn’t matter that you loved them if those feelings never reached them. It doesn’t matter if you spend time on making them stronger when they wish for peace because surely they do. Maybe they wished for peace in the same way you did now, before deeming the thought to be selfish and burying it under the rubbish that has become your mind.

Accepting this new life of being in constant pain because you were always wounded, always had a new scar in the collection, was easier done than you had thought. It was almost painfully easy to fall into the habit of running, eating, sleeping and then repeat.
The only happiness you could find was in the slimes who seemed to love you. You had discovered their kind nature after some time in Liyue. Back in Mondstadt you had been too fearful to get close to them, but you had reached a point were if you die, you die, and that’s it. You were still hesitant to follow them into any hilichurl camps, even though they seemed friendly enough.
You did not deserve it. You had killed them in game, for materials and for fun. Mocked them when their attacks were weak and cheered when they disappeared with nothing much left behind. You wonder if you tore apart families and friends and those are the times you feel the worst.
You can see it, still. The way their bodies disappeared after you were done with them. The way there were always new ones to take their place, only for you to destroy them again. Maybe it was also the shame that kept you away from them. They respected your need for space, letting the slimes bring you medication and food. That only made you feel worse, but the little part of you that wanted to live accepted the gifts with tears in your eyes.
It also allowed the healing touches of hydro, the warmth of pyro and the coolness of cryo. It appreciated the shields of geo and traps of electro placed around your sleeping place to guarantee your safety. It allowed anemo to carry you while medicine and flowers were grown by dendro. Your safety and comfort was all provided by them and the walls you had build around you slowly cracked for them to see through.
The part that wanted to live allowed them to fight in your place when you are found again, it allowed you to watch as your friends are torn to pieces as you can do nothing but watch as they sacrifice themselves for you. You don’t deserve this, you want to scream, but the sounds are choked by sorrow and tears. They are worth more than sacrifices, but your body doesn’t move as it is carried by anemo.
You curse the part of you that wants to live and beg it to let you die. For the first time since you had caged your emotions you are truly angry, wrath igniting inside you, only to be overshadowed by your sorrow. You’re sorry. But you are a coward with no strength to protect what you love. And so you turn away their gifts in hopes they run as you do, to flee at the sight of you because being with you means death and you don’t think your love and life are worth it.
You are not worth it.
You are, in their eyes.
You are guilty.
They love you either way.
Loving you will kill them.
They’d gladly give their lives for you.
You cannot accept anyone’s love anymore. Slowly, you mend the walls surrounding you to hide what can not be repaired. Maybe it’s better that way.

You are getting reckless, Ninguangg notes. Before her lays a map, markings and arrows showing your routes and escapes. You are getting closer and closer to civilisation, despite their danger for you. You are not dumb, she has to admit. Being able to not only avoid her but also all of Mondstadt and Liyue for so long means you are capable of reason. It only makes the insult to the Creator worse.
But you won’t live for long, she muses. They had finally managed to get all they needed to make sure you wouldn’t get away this time, with the help of the traveller they had finally made out your means of escape. They are going to count on it. On your cowardice. On your will to live.
A small smile decorates her and the others that attend the meeting, surely their creator would be pleased with their work once its done. One more day and your dirty blood would finally flow one last time.
