HI! hope your day is treating you well, i’ve been interested in doomreed for some time but cape comics are sort of daunting to me just because there’s so much content and i really don’t know where to begin. what do you suggest? thank you!

the fantastic four are one of marvel's darling old founding teams so there is pretty much... endless archival, ongoing, multimedia and games content popping up all the time.

They are also kinda one of the rare teams where the growth of the characters is consistent? The kids are allowed to grow older and events from every major run are carried/referenced by the next author so if you want to do chronological there's a lot of incentive and fun stuff.

What I'm reading/liveblogging rn is Hickman's Secret wars era, generally regarded as yaoi ketamine; It's a good epic narrative entrance point if you want to jump into it, and it eventually led into this huge marvel event that changed the multiverse and even brought miles morales into the main timeline, so its BIG and it happened in multiple books - the best way to go about it is;

Infamous Iron Man (2016) ➡️bendis' doom writing is not very good but hang in there because right after him: Marvel 2-In-One (2017) ➡️ (All issues!) is a banger. Yaoi btw.

You can basically read all the future/past ones as listed, or starting from the beginning of that author's period without worrying, bc they aren't as indebted to each other storywise.

You can also start somewhere else if you want or check out other single issues on the reading guides; It's not a crime! There's a lot of stuff with different takes and genres, I'm slowly chipping away at the secret wars era bc its just very thick and like a serious television drama attempt, except its also insanely funny sometimes.

Lil (long) simblr gratitude day post

I wanted to make a post shouting out some of my favorite creators, storytellers, and just general simmers from over the last year, mainly focused on ts4 since that's where my attention has been the most. Long post ahead so it's going under a cut. If you're not tagged please know I did wake up late today so it's not as complete of a list as I wanted it to be!!

@adelarsims - You are an essential in my mods folder!! I love how much realism and/or character your cc adds to sims, from things like the piercing holes to the wonky glasses to the mechanic overlay... Just so many little things that I can't imagine not having in my game or on certain characters now. Speaking of characters, your sims both original and premade are always so gorgeous, and I really enjoy your interpretations of wg and jeb. & Thank you for being WCIF friendly, I know it takes time to get that info but it's so appreciated, u've help me find some very beloved pieces of CC. Also the level of dedication u have to organizing your mods folder is incredible and you've inspired me a lot to get my folder's act together finally!! Which is SUCH a QoL improvement

@bearphase - I adore the bright legacy and I admire all the little details and effort you put into your posts, like fixing clipping issues, making icons and templates for custom careers or story events, ur creativity really shines through. You've also reminded me how fun NSB can be and inspired me to get back to it and my human enough gameplay and I can't thank u for that enough, it's got me sooo excited for future simming endeavors

@oshinsimblr - Long 1 incoming... While I've never been a sims 4 hater, like a lot of people I've still struggled with the gameplay aspect of this iteration, so it's been really inspiring to watch how you go about your game and immerse yourself in it, see all the care you put into your sims. I have to thank you for the videos you've made on it, like the one on how to make sims you connect to, season 1 of Lovesick where you went basically vanilla with the specific intent to show people how much you can do with imagination and what that looks like in gameplay! It's been literally game-changing for me lol and helped me to have more fun with my saves, even if they're not one of the rare few that starts out off the rails, I get more enjoyment playing it out until things do start happening outside of my control. & YOUR CC RECS!! I've downloaded so many of the mods you've recommended and I love how much they fill out the game. On the topic of Lovesick, I have not been able 2 get enough!! I'm so hooked lmao. Watching this series has really taken me back to the days when I was a teen reading like those particularly juicy drama-filled sims 3 stories you can't help but to keep clicking "next page" on, except Lovesick is so solid writing-wise. SO excited to see where Lizbeth is going in her life!!

@simandy - Your hairs have been an essential in my CAS folder for so long, and I've been so impressed with the evolution of your creations over the years. I've always liked your work but GODDAMN the quality always blows me away these days!! & I really, really adore and appreciate the variety! @squea - ANOTHER SORT OF LONG ONE BUT ... Your sims just POP!!! SO much character, and your edits and art r phenomenal. Corn is one of my favorite little digital guys I've had the pleasure of experiencing on line in all my years in the sims community reading stories and gameplay. If Cornelius has a million fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has ten fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has no fans I am no longer on the earth. If world against Cornelius, I am against the world. So on and so forth TBH you've also helped me have a lot more fun with the sims 4 talking about how you enjoy your game, and have a healthier mindset about my place in the community and connect back with the reason I made this blog in the first place, which was just to have fun and archive something I love, regardless of whether it got any attention or not! I started going MIA a bit post 2019 after really getting involved in the community, for Life Happens reasons, and naturally the lack of consistent posting for a while meant less eyes on whatever I came back to share. For a while I let that discourage me esp when a lot of effort was put into something, but after you posted about just genuinely enjoying ur game and loving what you made regardless of notes it made me realize what I was doing and helped me get back to that state of mind. Now whatever I make gets to matter simply because it matters to me, even if I post it at like 3am bc I'm so excited and no one ever sees it bc of that DHKDHKHSD. & I feel like I have u to thank for that!! U turned da lightbulb on

@thefoxburyinstitute - I could not make a gratitude post without forgetting to include the foxbury institute!! @warwickroyals - Ok so first off your clothing is a STAPLE in my folder for my more wealthy and/or fashion-oriented sims! And as for the Warwick Legacy? One of my absolute favorite simblr stories I've read. I still remember when I started it, it was pretty late at night so I was just planning on reading a handful of posts and then picking it back up the next day. That did not happen I could not stop. Straight up stayed up the entire night bingeing all the way to the latest post (which was the Big Phillip Thing. I had to get up from my computer to pace I was having a Moment LOL) I've got some catching up to do but so far I think that's been my favorite arc. Aside from that your editing is beautiful, and I've always been a character enjoyer so I'm in love with how much thought you've put into all of yours, and the fact we get to learn so much about them. I think you do a really good job of balancing the cast and I really dig your storytelling style in general.

Well, of course, I can tell you more about it!

Point of Know Return was inspired by a song of the same from the band Kansas. It tells the story of a person who receives a message from someone that is called to work at sea and is lost in the "Point of Know Return", also known as "The Point that Demons Guard" or "An Ocean Grave for all the Brave"... and let's just say that I became absolutely enthralled by the idea.

Who wouldn't go onto such a place, if not a bunch of Gryffindors? Especially Gryffindors who are, well, a little keen on getting in trouble?

POKR will be poly, like GC, but this time I'll bring James into the relationship as well, because I love him and he deserves some love too!

And you know, I love a good strong-willed reader, so she will be a noble tha somehow convinced her parents to let her study cartography, even is she will never actually be able to practice her skills because this is in the 1700s and women working, especially of noble descendance, would be sacrilegious.

That's until she actually gets to go on a certain trip that leads her to her first encounter with the "Golden Snitch" the fastest boat in the 7 seas, and its crew, the brave marauders.

Now that you know a bit more of POKR, I want to thank you for your extra kind words! You are so, incredibly sweet my darling! And the fact that you will continue with your projects is fantastic! It's always lovely to have creators inspire each other ᥫ᭡

this line

shounen animangas are notoriously known for having teenage characters be put through literal hell in order to triumph evil and save their friends, and the trope remains popular because it is so entertaining. perhaps it's the unwavering hope and naivety becoming hardened determination that is appealing in these stories. i used to enjoy this genre a lot as a kid, but after a while watching highschoolers fight to survive wasn't as exciting as it once seemed to be.

but jjk is so popular, so i am watching it, and this arc begins. we are introduced to nanami, who is a surprisingly silly guy despite his general demeanour, and i already love itadori, so i was excited to see this dynamic. immediately you could tell this arc was set for itadori to fail and learn a valuable lesson, to which nanami will probably enlighten him about.

i just didn't expect the lesson to be this.

sure, there are many other stories about people acknowledging the main group are children, realising they're not strong enough for this task, and that we should've looked after them better, it's not their fault, we expected too much and hurt them, but very rarely are these grievances 1) expressed in a way that doesn't make the child in question feel guilt for their lack of maturity and 2) be stated so bluntly TO the child themself.

nanami clearly teaches itadori that he is a child, and nanami is the adult, and so itadori shouldn't be expected to carry out the jobs nanami is responsible for, because he is just a child, and that is okay. no metaphorical or symbolic talk about strength and dreams and growing up. just the fact of the matter;

being a child is not a sin.

it's after this did i realise that this has been the point of the entire story the whole time.

to me, jjk is a story about children. children who are doomed by their fate and their circumstances. children who are forced into roles and responsibilities they don't want and can't handle. children who are no longer children, but much older, trying to stop other kids from following their steps — to no avail. this world they are born into is written against them from the start and they still get hurt. they are all still hurting.

although this moment is vital for itadori specifically, and no one could've delivered it to him as good as nanami did, i think the line is applicable to the dozens of other children in the story as well. nanami as a character is someone who now strives to protect all these children, because there was no one to protect him and his friends, and this moment (and the many others of his that follow) really make him one of the greatest characters for this specific story.

although this line and entire conversation is what really made me go from liking the anime to loving it, this entire arc in general was fantastic. even without knowing nanami's past, we understand there is a cycle of hurt and loss, really highlighting the question about responsibility and choice. it was superbly written (no wonder nanami is gege's favourite character!).

in fact after watching this arc i immediately started reading the manga, and then upon taking a long mental health break after shibuya, i am now reading it again for its finale. although jjk has kind of... lost the plot now, i continue to read for itadori, curious to see what destiny awaits a child who is forced to keep losing.

Sometimes I just think about how insanely different the lives of all the 2015 draft class players are now and it makes me feel ridiculous. Like, Mitch is a hometown kid on the leafs and they either love him or hate him at all times, he’s doing good personally, is getting married, but professionally he’s in so much limbo. Connor is the most talented player in the world according to most people but he cannot win and the weight of the world is on his shoulders and he’s in a big black and white house in Edmonton. Jack was pretty much held hostage by the team that never wanted him, his bodily autonomy completely denied, and then he finally gets traded to the nhl villain team and he beats the guy who was always better than him. And Dylan isn’t exceptional as a player, he’s decent on an aging team full of dads and he has a wife and a daughter and another on the way and he just seems happy. I wonder if they ever think about each other.

I KNOW RIGHT like each of their stories has just gotten so much More interesting over the course of the past ... coming up on eight years now. Hockey is a fantastic soap opera, you know? The story just keeps on going.

And the crazy part is we're not even halfway through. A hockey player with a shelf life -- Mitch and Connor both seem pretty durable, and Jack seems a lot healthier now after his neck trouble has been resolved -- can last fifteen, twenty years if they're lucky. Who knows where the story will go from here? Dylan's contract extends further into the future than any other Capital -- he'll be a UFA in the summer of 2028, which ironically gives him more job security than any of the other three in the class. Good, for a boy who just wanted to be wanted somewhere. I wonder what the Capitals will look like after Ovi's done. (Assuming Ovi ever retires, although I have a sneaking suspicion he and Sid will go out in the same summer. They have always been entwined, after all.)

I desperately want to know if we'll see any of them on any other teams, too! Hockey is unlike a lot of other sports in that its biggest and brightest superstars tend to stay as put as possible: of what I consider to be the six "generational talents," (Howe, Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid)(IF U HAVE OPINIONS ON THIS SEND THEM TO MEEEEE), only one of them so far has played for more than one NHL team (Howe era Whalers don't count!!!). Mitch isn't generational by any means, but he's far and away enough of a superstar to go just about anywhere he wants, which for my own feeble sanity I beg means #leafsforever. I just hope if they go anywhere else then they keep to the colour scheme! Dylan's three teams have all been red and Jack's have both been yellow/gold. If Connor McDavid becomes a Dallas Star it'll mess with the damn symbolism (plus his TA of mathematics ass could never match the vibe that silly little group of rapscallions has).

And... the eternal question: the Cup. Eichs is obviously still in the hunt right now, but i do dearly want to know who of the four of them wins it and when. Fun fact: both Dylan's and Jack's only playoff appearances to date have involved eliminating Connor. Mitch actually made the playoffs first out of all four of them, but by one measly game Connor has more wins.

In summary: Urgrghghuhuhsgdhkgjhfdghhfgkdjfhjkd the lore... the drama... etc etc

Hiiiii bb, it’s actually a “success story” lmao. so in the previous ask i was talking abt a project and it weighs around 70% of my grades, it’s super imp. i had a deadline of 30th dec, tbh i was very lazy and didn’t do much (ik ☠️). so this week i was slightly anxious BC they actually gave an extension i.e 30th dec. i got that extension like i deep down knew they extend and they did, it was 30tg dec BUT then there’s like 3/4 days left, i was slightly anxious (usually i’d be dying by now). but then i was like oh this problem isn’t mine. the deadline doesn’t exist, it only exists bc i’m making it more real by being aware. that doesn’t lack anything, and everything is instant, knowing this i was very laid back 😭💀. Tbh i was just thinking (my mind is never quiet) i just realized i’m internalizing failure is an option, then i just said to myself, failure is an illusion but i’m just going to remove that. Failure doesn’t exist for me. then i was like every single time, when i was faced w difficult situation, everything will be alright. ngl i was like if i don’t submit, i’d have to repeat the sem. and that’s scary af, but then i’m like it’s an illusion who cares🧍🏻‍♀️, but then i didn’t want that as an option☠️. i literally went on w the day like it’s going to fine, i’m lucky as hell. I KID U NOT i get a notification the submission date is 30tg dec. for some reason i was really calm, bc i detached my self from the whole issue, like it’s all an illusion including the problem, the deadline. In the noon, i get another notification, it literally says “GOOD NEWS, THE DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 10th JAN” 😭💀. istg i wasn’t over the moon or anything, i just smiled. ITS CRAZYYYY, ND is wayyy better than loa. where they keep telling persisting, and it’s just exhausting. it’s crazy WHEN u feel like this whole thing is like a game, and that can decide what this illusion wants.

i rambled a lot 👩🏻. but to everyone who’s like why aren’t the desires materializing?? pause, ND you’re not doing anything to get. it’s like you know you breathe? do u check or like constantly are believing that you breathe? nope, you just are aware, aware of reading thsi rn, aware of comprehending this. the most freeing thing is, none of this is real, it’s all illusion, concepts don’t exist. everything is instant for that. the moment you’re aware of xyz or your let’s say desired life, it’s already there. don’t go asking where? i don’t see it? it’s not real etc. it’s bc you still believe you’re a limited human experiencing through the 5 senses. i’d like to recommend everyone to make their own opinion of ND, bc at the end of the day, you’re the game maker not the player.

THANK YOUUU, it’s like i’ve gained the cheat code to life rn, it’s so relieving that, everything is instant and nothing is real, it’s all illusion, hence we have all possibilities to choose a whole another illusion.

You don't have to answer this I'm just gonna bitch in your inbox about the x reader post you made because I felt this in my bones.

Like you really can't go in the tag for quality stuff lately. Everything is about sex. I'm not a prude. I read occasionally stuff, but omg, not everything has to be like this. Sometimes stories begin hopeful, but they end the same way. I'm just sick of it because it's all there is. And because it's so oversaturated, "normal" fics don't stand a chance because people don't click on that anymore. So yeah, as a creator, if I wanna get attention for my work, of course, I will produce stuff that people will read.

In general, people are sooo fixated on "spicy" content. On tiktok, all people read is smut, or they can't handle other stuff. Literally, smut destroyed their brains. How is it any different than guys having a porn addiction?

Also, the tumblr tagging and searching functions are shit. I wanna find new fics from like 2020 or 2021 (before s4 bc I miss those vibes). When you go to the popular tag thing, the earliest you get is 2022. Like tumblr needs to fix that, so content from years ago can still be found. People also need to start tagging accordingly. It's such a pain.

2023 Recap - Songs from (QL) Dramas

I've been tagged by @troubled-mind to make a list of my favorites songs from this year's QL dramas (thank you so much 💕) and of course I can't resist. I liked a lot of music from shows this year, which is great but made the selection harder so it will be a little long, I hope you'll forgive me.

OST I've been milking in full

I don't very often go through full OST unless someone does a background music playlist i can put on (Like this one for La Pluie by troubled-mind, and this one for To Sir, With Love for example) but two stood out for me this year.

My School President OST - I knew in advance I would enjoy a musical show, and I have to say I was NOT disappointed. My favorite though is ฟัง by Fourth, Ford, Satang, Winny, and the fantastic Pijika Jittaputta. Have a go at the original too!

Unintentional Love Story OST - This one came late this year for me, but i have been listening to the whole thing again and again. My favorite is Beautiful Day by Cha Seowon. I really enjoy his voice a LOT, and I'm weak for a nice, so soft it's even a little mushy love ballad.

With those two out of the way, let's go through the list country by country I think.

ลางสังหรณ์ by Teng Tachaya from The Sign

This one is just a banger! It literally rocks, and I keep belting out the chorus every single time i listen to it. I love everything about it, even the spoken words. Also, not music related, but that costume!!

เงา by Lazyloxy from Shadow

I like Lazyloxy's voice a lot, as well as the rhythm/bass line (?) during the verses. There is an edge in that song that fits the show very well, too.

พรุ่งนี้ by Ford Arun from Moonlight Chicken

Ford's voice, do I need to say more? Tbh I got a little teary the first (ten) time(s) I listen to it.This ballad is so very touching, it's gentle and hopeful, I can never tire of it.

รักคุณยิ่งกว่าใคร by NuNew's cover of Got Jakraphan from Cutie Pie 2. I loved this one so much I got myself a video editor so I could post it there. Only honorable because it's a cover, but it got me into luk thung so it deserves to be here.

เพลง รักนี้มากับดวง by Bmine & Near from Lucky My Love. This one is just because it's goddamn cute, sweet and peppy, and it makes me smile and bop my head. Sometimes I don't ask for more.

From Japan 🇯🇵

U&I by Hi-Fi Unicorn from Kimi ni wa todokanai

It's just a perfectly crafted pop song imo. It's cute, fresh and lively, fitting the show perfectly too. Since it came out, you can catch me humming "kimi ni waaa todokanai hmm hmm hmm" all day, every day, so it deserves its place on the list!

Yoruwazura by osage feat Ishino Riko from Kimi to nara koi wo shite mite mo

This one got me the second Ishino Riko started singing. The harmonies between the two are SO good! I really like the guitar in this one, and the little claps in the background. It's also really easy to hum so it stays with me a lot.

Bitter by Royce from Utsukushii Kare season 2

The contrast between the energy of the melody and the nearly bored sound of the voice (the singer sounds like their mouth does not open fully) works reaaally well for me. It's catchy and fun, and well, the lyrics are just so perfectly Hira...

ふたたび Futatabi by HIROBA & Otsuka Ai from Bokura no micro na shuumatsu

I was very surprised when I saw it was a feat with Otsuka Ai (who I only knew for her sugary pop in early 2000). The melancholy of the lyrics and the melody are beautiful, I am a huge fan of the way their voices mesh together, and I can't resist a piano + violins combo like that.

Honorable mention > Go Sign by Billy Laurent from Ameiro Paradox. The little piano, the rhythm, that chorus, it makes me shake my ass every single time.

From Taiwan 🇹🇼

'痛苦擁抱 (Painful Hug) by Ozone from Oh No! Here Comes Trouble

(I won't hear anything about technicality and it being a QL show or not =3) Had not realized it was from a boy group before checking the clip for this list. I like the way the melody rises for the chorus, their voices are pleasant, and it carries both power and some sort of melancholy that reminds me very much of Pu Yiyong.

Honorable mention > Come With Me by K6 from Marry My Dead Body. The whole OST of that movie is great, but I somehow got completely obsessed by this one from the gym scene at the start. It also features Austin Lin (I think as backup on the chorus).

From Korea 🇰🇷

IoU by UTOPI from The New Employee

It's a sweet, simple one that never fails to put me in a good mood, and sometimes that's enough to listen to a song non stop over months =3

Natural by Young K from A Breeze of Love

This one is also sunny, light and joyful. I like the guitars and I am especially fond of Young K's voice - it got me looking into him which I do not regret. A nice little surprise for the end of the year.

hi darling! thank you for your kind words<3 i'm going to try and walk you through my writing process to help you get a better understanding of my diction/prose, but fair warning, most of it is questionable and a lot of the time, i just spew my train of thought onto a document and call it a day. everybody has their own style and it's just smth u have to figure out the majority of on your own

1. FIND WORK THAT INSPIRES YOU

I think what's helped me improve my writing the most is looking at other people's work, and it seems like you're in luck having already taken that step. Being able to recognise what you like, why you gravitate towards it and what it's able to say about ideas you have a hard time formulating is one of the best ways to adapt your own voice. Copying others' work is absolutely unethical, like you said, but you can always jot down little words/actions/vibes they include to repurpose into your own. That'll put you on the right track for developing a style that feels right to you, and eventually, you'll start thinking that way naturally.

2. WRITE WITH INTENTION

Yeah, we've all heard this one before. But seriously – one of the reasons it takes me so long to finish my WIPS is because I overthink every line. That's not to say you should doubt yourself, not at all! But creativity is not a spontaneous thing (at least not in my case) and oftentimes, your first draft will not be your best. Writing with intention means to consider why you're including certain phrases/words, why you're structuring it the way you are, how can it be improved to convey meaning more efficiently, etc...

For example, let's say I write the sentence "Eva hasn't been to a party in so long, so the mixer is an overwhelming onslaught of sensations. when she first enters." It's good, but it can be better. Personally, I would give a few examples of said sensations and relate them to Eva, who she is as a person and how it affects what she notices first. (In this case, I asked myself the question of why she hasn't been to a party in so long and came up with a claustrophobic/mysophobic personality for her.)

With all that in mind, my second draft might look something like "Bodies pressed against each other, weaving cages of flesh on flesh. The mass of it writhes, thrashing like squandered roadkill to music so loud she can't make out its origin. Already, the room begins to close in on her, entirely unwelcoming, and she remembers why she hasn't been to a party in so long."

It's not perfect, but it certainly has much more character!

3. HAVE AN ENDING IN MIND

I don't mean for the story as a whole. But each paragraph should be centred around a topic – that much is elementary – and you should know what you intend to say with it before you start. That way, your sentences knit together that much more seamlessly, and readers are never left questioning 'how did we get to this point?'

It helps if you have an idea for the next paragraph as well! I didn't realise it before, but pacing/transitions/flow can really elevate a piece, and once I started focusing on them I noticed a significant improvement!

4. OVERUSE PUNCTUATION, SPECIFICALLY THE EM DASH

No, just kidding.

Sneaking back in here cause I saw your reblog and...man I'm so bummed on how Wish ended up being.

You can just SEE the ideas and potential they had to really make something GREAT out of it, even before people found out about the scrapped plot points, but it's like they dialed it back from a 13 to a 6 and let it go lower and lower without really adding anything else to make it feel unique.

Okay well, first: *crushes u with a hug* NIYAAAAAAAAAA, OH IT'S SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN HIIIII!!!

Second: Hard agree. Watching Disney slowly spiraling downward in the toilet bowl that is Soulless Corporate Money-Grubbing has been a painful experience for me. While I have yet to watch Wish in its entirety, just reading its plot summary, listening to some of the music, and learning about what it COULD have been feels like a kick in the gut. Disney used to be one of the kings of animated storytelling. Classic films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cinderella, and 101 Dalmatians are what made me fall in love with the medium of animation before I was even in kindergarten. Films like Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, and Tangled had an enormous influence on the way I tell stories and establish character relationships (my current WIP is basically just a love letter to classic fairy tales as adapted by Disney). But the studio has slowly been losing sight of what makes a great story, and now Wish looks like they're even forgetting how to animate (why does Asha's face squash and stretch like that? Why do the backgrounds look like matte paintings on a stage?? Why does everything look so....plain???).

If Disney wants to survive another 100 years, then they have to stop chasing after the mythical "lowest common denominator." They have to stop taking suggestions from terminally online Twitter ranters and media journalists who, quite frankly, couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag (that's right, I said it, and I'm not taking it back). The world feels so dark and cynical right now. People are hurt, angry, desperate, and confused. We still need beautiful art. We need stories about adventure, love, grief, and heroism. We need movies that tell us there's much more than this provincial life. And that's what makes the corporate meddling behind Wish so gross to me. They had the talent and creativity they needed to make a great film, one that is actually worthy of being a celebration of the studio's 100th anniversary. And for reasons I genuinely cannot comprehend, they chose not to. They made what sounds like a very bland movie, with one-note characters, themes that make absolutely no sense, and song lyrics that make me want to rip my hair out (you don't "throw caution to warning signs," what the actual flip is that line?!).

Ugh. 😑 ...Anyways, thanks so much for the ask, Niya. Always lovely to hear from an old friend on this beloved hellsite. Many fairy blessings for you, and I hope you have an absolutely fantastic 2024! ✨

hhh is genuinely a fantastic pokepasta and i couldn't get enough of it once i started wrapping my head around it. we've always been a HUGE fan of more abstract, interpretative, and experimental work so seeing a pokepasta go ALL IN on that approach was fantastic and i genuinely think it's one of our favorites now.

everything about how it was written really.. struck a chord with us. I COULD BE SO FAR OFF THE MARK im so sorry but im trying to articulate it. something about memory loss and identity loss and dissassociation. and how vulnerable it leaves you and how desperate you can become for an escape, no matter how much that escape hurts, because its surely better than the alternative. becoming dependent on something or someone that pains you because theres nothing else to turn to or so you believe.. and eventually it's all you know and turning back seems impossible. and you just fall deeper and deeper because the more it hurts the more it at least feels real and its become synonymous with comfort. its a very potent work to me is what im saying

But liek i said that's also only one side of the picture too even within the aspect of it being focused around trauma . the Situation could be representative of the trauma or a flashback . Or it could be some kind of a conversation situation . Or it could be a person . Or it could all be fake . Or it could be the person having a Funky Time !

and theres even more that you could do with this . liek . I feel a bit bad for not being able to put as much as much as i could into the updates that came after the first two chapters/parts to imply Other Things:tm: other than the fact that there's just random chaos going on , mostly because HHH is the type of story where you spot a new sentence you haven't read before and it changes EVERYTHING .

Essential Avengers: Avengers West Coast #54: THE TROUBLED EARTH

January, 1990

Wasp: "My stings are useless against the Mole Man's creature, Hank!" Dr Pym: "Torch, help us!" Robot Human Torch: "Don't worry, Dr Pym, the Avengers have only begun to fight!" US Agent: "All of you, shut up and fight!" Wonder Man: "The five of you can't do it alone! It's time for Wonder Man to take a hand!" Iron Man: "It'll take more than rubble to keep Iron Man out of action!"

Hah.

Fantastic Four #1 homage.

With the Human Torch playing the role of the Human Torch.

And look at US Agent criticizing everyone else's performance when he's never around.

I guess the Avengers West Coast are fighting Mole Man for Acts of Vengeance. If the Avengers ever have, I don't really remember it.

Good job, Acts of Vengeance! Finally an Avengers matchup that hasn't happened yet!

Last times in Avengers West Coast: Everything keeps happening to Wanda so now she's catatonic. I don't blame her. She's had her husband disassembled and then put back together different. She's been stuffed with racism goo. Her children were eaten by a devil-worshipping Hollywood phony and then turned out to be devil chunks. And she keeps having to participate in bad event comics.

Also, a secret conspiracy of top villains and the Wizard have schemed a scheme but actually it's Definitely Loki's scheme to destroy the Avengers and other heroes by wearing them down fighting fights they don't usually fight.

Doom robots sank Avengers Island. The U-Foes attacked the Avengers West Coast Compound. Freedom Force Attacked Avengers Park (the original location of Avengers Mansion before it was moved to an island). And now the Avengers are being confronted with a rogue Fantastic Four homage.

Stuff just keeps happening.

For example, this.

Wonder Man and Iron Man happen to be flying above the city when this happens.

Actually, they're looking for the U-Foes from last time. So that plot line gets carried at least this far before the Avengers get side-tracked by giant monster attack.

Honestly, when a giant monster starts smashing things up, you do have to put some stuff on the backburner.

Iron Man flies up at the monster. Since knocking it over with repulsors could cause more damage, Iron Man instead zips underneath the monster and lifts it into the air.

Why, yes, the Iron Man armor can lift that much.

You're pretty cool, Iron Man.

Although, one hopes he's lifting by the stomach and not by the monster junk.

US Agent shows up, for once, and asks why Iron Man doesn't just kill the monster.

Iron Man: "That might be a trifle rash, don't you think? We've both read enough science fiction stories, I'm sure, to know this might be a confused alien... even an extraterrestrial child."

I legitimately like this moment. It's a good point to make.

And it's a good contrast between both Iron Man and US Agent and US Agent and the real Captain America.

Iron Man decides to dump the giant monster in the off-shore shallows. And he has to use his repulsors to quickly make a wall of sand to keep the resulting tidal wave from flooding the area.

Another good moment of thinking the situation through.

Meanwhile, Wonder Man has found the giant hole the monster clawed its way out of and decides to follow the tunnel to find its origin.

The robot Human Torch shows up to join him.

Wonder Man asks if he's okay from last issue, where he got irradiated pretty badly. But Jim Hammond repeats his claim from last issue that radiation doesn't do much to his robot body.

It's actually lucky that robot Human Torch showed up. Because it gets pretty dark pretty quickly as they fly down the giant tunnel.

While they go, Wonder Man muses on the differences between the Vision and the robot Human Torch. They're made out of similar stuff but Jim Hammond is so lifelike it's hard to believe that he's a robot man. While Vision always sounded so cold and robotic, even when his brain worked good.

Huh. In Byrne's grand new vision for, uh, Vision, I wonder why that is.

Arguably, Dr Horton was just better at programming brains than Ultron. Heck, in Vision's original backstory, that was true. Ultron had to bring in Professor Horton to work on the Human Torch body since Ultron wasn't up to snuff.

It's funny that Hank Pym will later become known as the god of robotics, for creating Ultron, which led to Vision and Jocasta and others. When Hank Pym's method "cheats" by using human brain patterns while back during World War II Professor Horton was just able to create a robot brain that behaves indistinguishably from a human.

Ain't it sad, Hank?

Anyway, once Wonder Man and Human Torch hit about a mile down, they start seeing beasties.

Who immediately start attacking.

Because Mole Man told them to.

Hi, Mole Man.

Meanwhile, above the Rocky Mountains, an Avengers quinjet on autopilot flies Dr Pym, Wasp, and Scarlet Witch back to the west to rejoin the rest of the team.

Annnnnnd.

Scarlet Witch is catatonic again.

She came out of it in West Coast Avengers #53 when Dr Pym lied that Vision was in danger. And she was fine(ish) during Avengers #312. But after they left Vision behind in New York, Wanda just went catatonic again.

I WONDER WHAT THE COMMON CONNECTION IS?

Anyway.

Unpacking what's wrong with Wanda has to wait.

The Quinjet just got into a traffic accident.

Geez. They lose so many Quinjets.

Tricephalous really just appears out of nowhere. The autopilot tries to dodge but the Quinjet still gets clipped by the back toes of the giant beastie.

And by clipped I mean half of the Quinjet gets sheared off.

Geez.

I sorta wonder how Tricephalous knew to find them out here. It's not like the Giganto Iron Man just dumped into the sea knew where the Avengers were specifically. It just emerged into the city and started smashing stuff.

That's a huge difference from a flying monster intercepting the Avengers' exact flight plan in miles of open air.

And if it wasn't intentional, what was Tricephalous doing all the way out there?

Hopefully questions to be answered later.

The Quinjet crashes because that's what happens when it loses its top half.

Dr Pym tells Wasp he'll shrink Wanda so Wasp can carry her to safety. But Hank can't safely shrink anymore so he's planning on dying, I guess.

But then the Quinjet gently floats above the ground instead of impacting in a giant explosion.

Hank speculates some kind of magnetic field just. Set the Quinjet down.

He's not going to question it.

HE SHOULD BUT HE'S NOT GOING TO RIGHT NOW.

BIGGER PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH.

Dr Pym: "Quick! Take Wanda! Get her to cover! There's one last chance we may have against this monster!" Wasp: "Hank... What are you going to do...??" Dr Pym: "Don't ask questions, Janet. And for god's sake don't distract me!"

Sigh.

Remember how I complained that Wasp, a veteran Avenger and proven leader in her own right, has been jammed back into the role of Hank Pym's sidekick?

Anyway.

Hank shrinks Tricephalous.

Just makes him a tiny li'l monster.

With that taken care of, Hank instructs Wasps to go over to a ranger station they can spot about a mile away and arrange transport.

Meanwhile, Magneto lurks in the woods.

Because, duh. Was it going to be anyone else once the Quinjet was gently set down with magnets?

Magneto muses that his daughter and Dr Pym will be perfectly safe in Magneto's care.

I don't know whether that means he's going to magnet them away someplace or whether he's just magnetically keeping bears away.

How did Magneto know to be here?

Magneto also thinks he's the true mastermind of Acts of Vengeance, just like how every one of the top villains and Wizard think they're the mastermind but really Definitely Loki is the real mastermind.

Meanwhile, back underground in California, Wonder Man asks why the heck is Mole Man hassling the Avengers. Doesn't he usually just bother the Fantastic Four?

Look, just because we have a Human Torch and almost hired the Thing once and just because Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman were Avengers once doesn't mean we are the Fantastic Four!

Is what Wonder Man would have said if he were cool.

But it's none of those things. Mole Man is mad because Wonder Man and Iron Man attacked Monster Island!

Mole Man: "I had returned once again to my former home, seeking peace in this troubled world. But you so-called superheroes were not about to let me find the tranquility I craved. Miraculously, I survived your assault. I chose, then, to strike back with the mightiest creatures of my subterranean realm. With Giganto, the largest creature ever to walk the land. With the flying Tricephalous, dispatched to attack your comrades in the east."

Okay. So Tricephalous was just flying cross-country to attack the East Coast Avengers and happened to cross paths with Hank, Wasp, and Wanda.

And then they happened to crash near Magneto.

Pretty contrived.

Jim Hammond, robot Human Torch speaks up to vouch that the Avengers definitely haven't attacked Monster Island.

Humorously, this whole time Mole Man was assuming he was Johnny Storm until Jim spoke up and didn't sound like him. Now he's thinking its a weird, not very good imposter. But he doesn't particularly care either.

Back above ground, Giganto starts walking back towards the beach.

Iron Man tries to think of a new plan while US Agent ignores Iron Man's request that he show some restraint.

So US Agent wheels around his sky-cycle and then hits the accelerator to blast the Giganto in the eye with the rocket exhaust. Then he wheels back around and flares the engine again to do the monster a startle.

While narrating everything he's doing just so we know what it is.

Very kind of you, US Agent, talking to no one.

Then the monster smacks him out of the air and it is

CATHARTIC.

I'm sad that Iron Man saves him from plummeting to his death. But Iron Man is a nice guy like that.

US Agent: "Ugnn! Didn't even see it start to move! How..." Iron Man: "I'll make you a deal, Agent. If you don't say 'how can anything so big be so fast'... I won't say, 'I told you so!'"

Ha.

Meanwhile, underground.

Wonder Man and the robot Human Torch have been fighting Mole Man's smaller monsters for a while. Long enough that Wonder Man's costume gets torn in that leading man way.

You know, to show off his chest but still over one shoulder like he's Tarzan.

But now Wonder Man decides "enough is too much!" and declares that the Avengers had nothing to do with the attack on Monster Island and to prove it, he's going to let Mole Man murder him!

He's really just going to stand still, not defend himself at all, and let Mole Man do whatever.

And this will prove he doesn't mean Mole Man any harm, right?

Although after blasting Wonder Man repeatedly, Mole Man stops. Why would the guy take so much punishment if he's not telling the truth?

He doesn't necessarily believe Wonder Man but there's a shred of doubt now that someone is playing him for a fool. And he doesn't like that.

So Mole Man blows a whistle and up top the Giganto retreats back to the ocean like Godzilla.

Iron Man is able to detect the signal with his fancy suit sensors and figures big guy has been called home.

So he drops US Agent into the ocean so can follow the Giganto under the water and sees a giant hole where the guy must have burrowed back underground.

Well, that solves that.

Later, back at the Avengers West Coast Compound, the Avengers listen to a news report about Congress debating a super powers registration act with one ear while also discussing the happenings with Captain America with the other.

Hank has looked at all the supposed isolated incidents plaguing superheroes and connected the dots.

Someone is out to destroy the Avengers.

There have been attacks on other heroes but those attacks have been less organized compared to the ones on the Avengers which seem to keep targeting their headquarters.

The attack that sank Avengers Island, the U-Foes attack on the Avengers West Coast Mansion, the attack on Avengers Park (although that one wasn't actually part of the conspiracy so never mind).

Dun dun dun!

I mean, we already knew this but I'm glad the Avengers have caught up to the audience.

Next time, Avengers #313, where the conspiracy starts to unravel with barely any effort from the Avengers.

complete jumbled thoughts about Dark Road because holy fuck: Spoilers for like literally everything.

holy shit holy shit holy shit ok so, getting this out of my way,

I'm eating well with Xehanort being a Blueblood LMAO. Called it, love it. The sheer irony of him being a child of destiny and us knowing how his story ends up - delicious.

So many parallels you can draw between Xehanort - Eraqus and Sora - Riku here. In the end Sora is the one who Xehanort should have become and just, goddamn. I'm still on the path of thinking MoM is the reason why this didn't happen, pushing him further into the darkness (talking about love and its false light. man.), then Eraqus leaving him alone and as such, the balance between them destroyed (just as Baldr and his sister),

Baldr eh. Just holy fuck. So i guess he did bring Ragnarok... just not how we expected it to end up lol. Poor boy, oh man. Just. oh man. Oh man.

I fucking screamed when Odin summoned Master’s Defender and then called No Name forth, I AM EATING WELL, THESE TWO KEYBLADES MAN. MAN !!!!!! Also extremly interesting how No Name's nature is known, and mannnnnnn him retiring and giving these two keyblades his last two pupils im fucking. h.

KH game with the highest death toll i guess LOL (excluding UX with the keyblade war), my heart already hurt when Hoder died and then THE DEATH DIDNT STOP LIKE HELLO, i actually had to stand up and take a deep breath when Hermod and Urd died like WTF MAN god god god god goodbye i liked u a lot :(

Xehanort having Hoder in his heart got me a lot, just. man. man. There is this small interaction after they are fighting Vidar and Baldr shows up, Xehanort clutches his chest - because Hoder is reacting to Baldr....... its so similar to Sora with Anna and Elsa in KH3 ...... wahhhhhh..... delicious.... just,,, Xehanort and its connections to other people. MAN..

This whole thing with the true Lights is so INTERESTING. Like, they are objects ???? before the Princesses of Heart were a thing... thats so good.

Still wrapping my head around with that summoning of Kingdom Hearts. And ... killing 13 lights for that. god Baldr was so close and it was so so cruel my god. SEEING THEM ALL DIE WAS SO. NAH MAN. NAH. like YEAH WE KNEW THEY WERE ABOUT TO DIE BUT FUCK.

Their names are all soooo interesting. Not going through them all, i just have to mention the heartless that is the final boss has the name of Baldur's ship that carries his dead body in the Norse mythology....... just. oh.

so. the "secret ending". Im fucking yelling at the fact Blue Robe is KHML Player with UX Player reincarnated. just. THIS IS THE PLOT I HAD PREPARED FOR MY PLAYER HELP THIS IS FUCKING FANTASTIC FJDKDBDKFJG also no Player - Xehanort anymore which im, ah well, but Still they have a close connection which is enough for me now i guess -

Baby Xehanort calling Lauriam a skinny boy with pink hair had me laughing so much. like TRUE but dont come for my boy like this ahsjshdodjdkf. I'm kinda :worry: about Skuld's involvement for Xehanort's Mom as i dont really want her .... to have stayed behind ..... but for me to truly accept that I have to see it in ML myself. Still holding onto Subject X, but man,,,,,, Nomura why.

Xehanort saying he wants to have 14 lifetimes has me so c: I really wish for Young Xehanort to return. He should live a life that belongs to him .... i hope he gets to see that. I really want him to hang out with the Guardians of Light...

The whole Underworld thing is going to be so interesting in KH4, because they essentially did the same thing here like Donald and Goofy are trying?? At least we know now that the Underworld is like, universal, for KH worlds. I hope we get to see the upper classmen in some form again.

This game is an emotional rollercoaster that definitely would have worked better if they released these episodes... episodic. This whole ending was Such an Experience.

Just holy crap I am excited for Missing Link.

My mind is mush. I'm dead tired. What a phenomenal experience.

Missing Link, you have so much explaining to do. And goddamn im in for this ride.
