A lot of women’s hockey news and I wouldn’t be able to fit everything into screenshots so here is a summary
Most of these from Angélica Rodriguez, Erica Ayala, and Anne Tokarski’s twitter threads
-league looking to start in January, can go as late as may/June
-this year will be shorter and 24 games but should be 32 going forward. In future years season will start in November
-no team names or logos yet
-15 round draft, with a draft lottery, to determine who picks when, and then will be snake format.
-each team can sign 3 players before the draft, and then can fill out the rest in free agency after the draft
-players have until Sept 3 to declare for the draft on Sept 18 in Toronto
-rights of players are held on to for two years after draft, then they can re-enter the draft but the maximum amount of times they can be drafted is twice
-players can be traded this season, draft picks cannot be but will be starting next year
-players pool is 300~ players right now for who’s being contacted but players outside that pool can still declare for draft and aren’t necessarily uneligible
-the league has no plans to do a franchise model and right now mark and Kimbra Walter are the sole investors
-no rinks decided yet for games or practices it seems and multiple rinks may be in play in markets at least for this season. Says it’s possible New York team will actually play in jersey or Connecticut for some games. Nhl collaboration expected and wild writer Michael Russo says xcel energy center expected to be used. AHL and OHL rinks also considered
-no news on streaming but goal is to have all teams streamed
-transgender inclusion policy is being worked on but no collaboration plans with other orgs who specialize in trans rights were stated
-players may submit a Compassionate Circumstance Waiver Request that if the league approves allows them to be considered to only play in one specific market. The team(s) in that market would be the only ones allowed to negotiate a deal but wouldn’t be obligated to sign that player. (Not clear what would be required for that waiver to be approved but I imagine it may be in the CBA)
-CBA is here https://global-uploads.webflow.com/64d22f9c3617ad42d10d32f1/64ed721629f3b2cfe84c7a54_PWHL-CBA-thpwhlcom.pdf (I would like to summarize this as well when I am off work)
-11-13 full time staff for teams not including front office members

Post Hoot 4/28/2023
Cissy, Dana, Rebecca, Sarah, Avi, and Zelda Black
Reactions to the finale?
Sarah cried really hard when she saw the Quincera (“a whole chapter in my life is over” line). Avi was excited to play a villain, Sarah said they were scary. Avi liked to play with character. Dana loved seeing Avi’s evil Raine, said it was intense. They said they wanted to see more evil Raine, but Dana wanted to avoid it. Rebecca’s birthday was the week the finale came out, talked about their appearance in the episode. Cissy started crying, said it was neat.
Continue reading below:
Cissy had been travelling, and got back right on time to see the finale, she was super tired. Cissy was crying, her kids were asking her if she was crying. Avi cried too. Sarah said she was choked up but she was more excited. Avi felt like it was surreal. Cissy said “no sequel” “we can hope” “It would be fun to do more but it would require Disney to agree” Dana. Sometimes Dana gets so pissed off about the cancelling. Rebecca said the finale aired and they were back to being angry. Wished they had gotten more episodes. Sarah was angry, upset and sad about the cancellation but she loved the finale. “It couldn’t have been more impressive”.“There’s always gonna be a thousand things we want to improve but it came out well” Dana
Dana loved the fight scene between Luz, Eda, and King v Belos.
Music? How does it work? Brad has been on since season 2, he already knew the style of the show, so for every animatic, you put in temp music, and you send the composer the stuff and the spot notes, follow the concept of the temp music but add a horror genre spin on it. Brad’s first take on the episode was great. TJ did a remix for the epilogue, Dana cried hearing the remix for the epilogue.
They brought back every single actor for the bye. Everyone’s last line is bye!!! Hooty originally had a line where he kept saying goodbye. Hooty coming out of Papa Titan’s eye? “I won’t say much, in hopes I get to do more in the future (slim chance), this youtube reviewer- The3rdBill got it right in an offhand comment”
“How did the writing change for season 2/season 3?” Dana had an ending she wanted, wasn’t able to do it bc too much set up. All of season 2A was written without the knowledge of the cancellation, Follies was the first episode fully written with the knowledge it was cancelled. Dana wanted to do more with galdorstones, coven heads, Bat Queen, it’s easy to see what we had to prioritize. It was a hard situation in the writer’s room. We did our best and we’re happy people still connected to it.”
“Keep being loud about how much you love the show”
“Support the Etsy artists!” Had a pin by SophieScrubs
“It’s not like we had whole episodes written that were trashed, they were one sentence ideas”- they were in Dana’s head “I’m just happy with what came out”
“We kinda got to go out, 45 minute specials, it was fun to work with”
Cissy “There’s no way you can’t be a fan”, Cissy was wearing a King beanie and got recognized as a fan in Ireland!
Sarah met people who liked her shirt and the show lol (didn’t say if they knew who she was) Rebecca wore a king sweatshirt in DisneyLand, saw somebody else with a king sweatshirt and they side-eyed her lol “Anyone who ignores Rebecca can catch these claws”
Owlberts in the title of the show, Stringbean is there too, the L and S, when they made the pilot, they had a different logo, it wasn’t made intentionally but they saw it and they liked it.
Luz had a connection with snakes, having her reclaim snakes.
Sarah was a snake believer!!!
A lot of ppl had ideas in the writers room, Dana loves bad puns and loved snakeshifter (the guy who has Barkus named after him), Beastkeeping bc Dana loves animals, Oracle bc she could see the future of the show.
“Avi needs wrangling” Sarah, they joked around.
Raine’s Palisman: The Palisman was disguised as the violin, Raine smashes their violin- it was the staff part of the Palisman that was smashed.
Did they Clawthorne family ever discover they were descendants of Evelyn and Caleb? Eda and Hunter don’t know, the rest I won’t say.
Who had the old house? Who did that belong to?
Sarah has a Stringbean!
“The artistry of the fandom is inspiring” Cissy
Somebody’s making Cissy a Lilith one.
Caleb, Evelyn, Flapjack? “Save it for the spinoff” Dana: “One detail I like to think of, is when we were writing TTT, Flapjack is not Evelyn, to Belos he saw Flapjack as the culmination of the corruption in his brother “if it weren’t for you”, you can see a hint at it in the halloween decorations, Evelyn’s hand had Flapjack. First magic Caleb was introduced to, Evelyn was hiding her ears and pretending to be human, follow this bird into this portal? “Dog owners passing eachother and becoming friends and bonding over dogs”. I like to think that Evelyn and Caleb was sweet- platonic curiosity to romantic, it was good for a bit.
“Who did the shack belong to?” We never got to explore this, it was originally the home of Caleb and Philip, Eda comes out there for the first time when coming out of the portal door. Eda fixed it!!! Everything doesn’t matter, google death of the author, I am just a fan now bc the show is finished. If you prefer your version, it’s valid rn.
Eda becomes the owl beast before getting Owlbert. There was going to be an episode where they showed her reclaiming the image of the owl and learning to carve palisman with Dell.
When Luz and Hunter went down to the basement originally, there were graves down there for Philip and Caleb, based off old buildings in connecticut (no story purpose)
Belos concepts when he was taking over animals, didn’t end up in the show, Belos animal designs, alluded to but not shown
Eye on the portal is Papa Titan? Yes.
Hunter is bisexual, Willow is pansexual.
Amity and Lilith rekindled mentor relationship, Lilith has a lot of history, Amity likes history + reading. They liked the blueprints for the library.
Cissy hadn’t seen anything she didn’t speak lines for, Cissy just got her lines/scenes.
Apparently they’re not supposed to bring the scripts home, before the pandemic they got full scripts
“Excuse me I’m talking” Avi (joking), Avi and Sarah are high energy
Avi didn’t have time to read the script, Sarah was confused when Luz died
Sarah got the script when Flapjack died, she said “no! Take me!” and they said “you’re going too”
Avi had trouble with the “you’re fluffy” line
Rebecca sent animatics to help the actors, it was easier for them to see the animatics
“It’s always up to the showrunner to show as much as they can” we go pitches in house with our own voices, Dana did Terra in For the Future animatic.Dana hates hearing her own voice, she talks really fast in her reads. When you pitch, you also do the sound effects. When they did the pitch for the finale (hour and a half), the line that got Rebecca choked up when Dana did Luz’s “Eda, King, thank you” “we got you kiddo”
There’s a recording of all of season two b  and season three of Dana pitching doing the lines.
If the show had not been cut short, would Amity and Hunter have had more time? Everyone would’ve gotten more of a chance to talk to each other- yes. Hunter would’ve talked to more characters like Vee and human realm kids, Camila. Literally everyone would’ve had more time. Dana loves the sibling relationship.
Luz and Raine barely interact, they’re bickering jokingly. “I’m sorry you didn’t get to hang out” Dana, “we can’t get the hexsquad to hang out”
Where did Luz attend school after WAD? She went to human realm high school, she had renewed motivation, even if high school was difficult, she had a goal, having a safe space for her and a family outside of the human realm made high school more bearable (that was the cause for Dana, having that escape was good).
Gus’s hair!! :D Emmy designed him. Dana designed Emira, Skara, Eber for the finale. Dana had two others but she forgot.
King’s dad’s name is unpronounable.
Does the Collector visit often? Has their relationship with their siblings improve? (STRONG LAUGHS) Dana can’t say much about the Archivsts, the Collector didn’t have a flashforward design bc they didn’t grow up that much, got a little taller but not really. Immortal space child. Dana was inspired by creepy dolls, and a nightmare. JBO had a google folder with cool references of creepy dolls, liminal nightmare scapes, stars. We know who is the Collector is gonna be but what’s their vibe. That was one of the most fun parts after the shortening. The Collector was always a part of it, not solidified, but yeah they were a part of it. The Collector has stayed connected, visits. Dana loves fan comics about King and the Collector.
Won’t answer questions about the archvists.
Hooty doesn’t have to be vacated from the owl house if he doesn’t want to, the door has a star motif on it, when the door isn’t active, Hooty can be there, but the portal door can fold up but Hooty is buddy.
Who are the current residents of the Owl House? Raine and Eda’s business is their business, not all love stories end in marriage, that doesn’t diminism any kind of love? They live together in the owl house. Raine moved in.
Zach Markus invented Matt so he gets to answer Matt questions.
Vee and Masha dating? It’s hard to say, bc we didn’t include Masha in the finale, Vee has a crush on them. Yeah! Maybe.
Sarah’s husband is texting saying hi lol.
Odalia? Divorced. The kids happily live away from her. They see her when they have the energy to, they recognize she’s toxic and they don’t have to put up with her if she’s being awful. May have been explored if more episodes. Rachael MacFarlane (VA) is great. She’s not British, she’s just pretentious.
King’s Tower? Dana’s thinking… “dumb answer. The plans we had, it had something to do with… it was related to someone who you all know who may have amnesia
There was gonna be a moment for other characters to get eye glow (strong emotions)
What’s the mouse that looked like alador? In the boards, Dawn animated the scene, he has a pose where he looked like a t-rex, Dana saw it and thought he looked like Remy from Rattatoue, when they got to the scene with the lab, he remembered that convo and drew in the rat and Dana laughed so hard “keep it, don’t change it” “It’s his palisman”
“A show should be enjoyed as is, knowing how it’s made is also cool” “when the show got darker- we got to do the fun stuff we got to do, if we all tried to force ourselves to write a happy go-lucky show they’d be unhappy, we’re gonna put our feelings into this” It was a dark writers room for a bit.
Sarah likes the darker elements, mentioned the masks (maybe TTT?), not totally removed from reality
“It clearly struck a chord, we lived through a global quarantine, we’re feeling the fallout of it”
“What was extremely hopeful for the crew was that the characters would have a happy ending, Luz gets to study magic, the characters stay together and form a community”
They got questions they couldn’t answer like about the quince
They don’t know if this is the last post hoot
They opened presents but they didn’t get one for Avi bc they didn’t know they’d be there until 2 days before. Rebecca got them funko pops of Lilith and Luz. Rebecca said thank you.
“Hey disney, if you’re watching, this could be you”
Elizabeth (Camila VA) called her mom to translate stuff into spanish.
Said byeeee!

Dungeon Meshi Anime Season 1, Episode 1 Review
Spoilers for season 1, episode 1 of the anime below the cut!
I watched both the English sub with Japanese audio, and the English dub, on Netflix.
I think overall it's very good, has a good tempo and doesn't mess with the pacing or characterization in any major way, very faithful to the manga. I think there could have been SOME improvements or adjustments made, but I'm not at all surprised that it didn't happen, making 1:1 extremely faithful manga adaptations seems to have become the norm lately.
On the plus side, that means that if this current level of quality continues, that the anime will always be at least as good as the manga... which is already very good! So that's great.
But on the negative side, that means it won't ever be better than the manga, and that makes me a little sad, because I think an anime adaptation of Dungeon Meshi could absolutely surpass the manga, if they were willing to take some risks, and with Ryoko Kui's guiding hand. Anyway.
Love the OP song, love it's old timey tavern feel and that it's not a straight up jpop or jrock song. Soundtrack music was really nice. Animation was great.
Love that they show a closeup of Falin's open eyes in the OP so we'll know.... ;3 later
Things that I didn't like as much:
Almost all the background text is in Japanese when it wasn't in the manga. Kui often used glyphs or scribbles to indicate that things aren't in English or Japanese.... but they're just using Japanese as far as I can tell.
Netflix America doesn't translate most of it either. They also don't put in the English logo on the opening even though they have it on the show homepage... Don't know if they'll fix it later.
Personally, I think it would also be fine if all the releases had the background in-universe text appear in the target language so the implication is "this is in the viewer's language, whatever that is, but that isn't the actual fantasy language being used in-universe". But I doubt this will happen.
And there is SOME text in glyphs! The dungeon gourmet book isn't in a real language when it's shown... I think it's just laziness. I would honestly very much prefer nonsense text in a variety of languages than this.
In the Japanese I genuinely thought Laios was providing the narration, so I was totally taken aback when there was a different narrator in English.... and I honestly liked it a LOT better when I thought Laios was narrating, it felt really natural and good! So sad that it isn't actually what's happening. Don't really like the slightly snarky David Attenborough style nature commentary narrator. Feels weird and jarring at times.
Subtitles are fine, but there's some things that are randomly different for no good reason, subs say Senshi means "researcher" and dub says "seeker" and.... Senshi doesn't have a mouth, you don't need to match his dialogue to mouth-flaps, you can make him say ANYTHING you want so why have it be different?
There's some dub script choices I REALLY hated and am probably going to die mad about lmao:
Marcille saying that their "inventory" was wiped out, like they're in a video game, calling the scared adventurers "newbs" like they're in a video game, saying "as if" like she's a 90's California girl.
Senshi saying "delish" instead of "delicious" . There's no mouth flaps, why shorten it to a modern slang term that feels unnatural?
Laios also says "geez" which is short for "jesus" so they could have picked literally anything else for him to say, I'm sure the Japanese was probably "mattaku" which just means "Really?" (too lazy to confirm this lol)
Chilchuck says "god" and you could just have him... not say that. Or say "gods" because there's multiple gods in Dungeon Meshi.
Those were my major thoughts so far. Overall thought it was great and I enjoyed it! Looking forward to more!
It's not perfect, but I have seen much, much, MUCH worse adaptations lmao so I'm excited for when they get to some of the more dynamic action scenes in the second half of the manga.

Okay! I finally! Had a chance to sit down and watch a full episode of my favorite tv show! Bad Batch rewatch time, bay-bee!
So—rambling thoughts on “Aftermath”
1. I LOVE the way this show transitions from being The Clone Wars and into being The Bad Batch during the opening sequence. The logo burning away is great, as is Tom Kane’s narration and the little montage of moments from Revenge of the Sith, but the thing that really gets me is the way that the whole episode shifts the moment Order 66 happens. Up to the moment Depa senses that something is up with Commander Gray, that something is suddenly, deeply wrong, you could be forgiven for thinking that this is a Clone Wars episode and that The Bad Batch really is going to The Clone Wars season 8. But after that? The perspective changes. Up to that moment, the episode is told pretty squarely through a perspective people familiar with The Clone Wars are used to. It’s the fate of the battle, and maybe the galaxy, in the hands of a Jedi, her padawan, and a handful of clone soldiers, and it’s somewhat centered on the jedi perspective, even through Clone Force 99’s introduction sequence. We see their skills in battle, their specialties, and how effective they are as a unit of soldiers; but even though their combat specialties give us a little bit of insight into their personalities, we don’t start getting to really know them as people until Order 66 is given, the perspective shifts, and the story becomes theirs.
And it’s not just the perspective that shifts with Order 66. It’s the whole…everything. After that shot with Depa in the foreground, looking concerned as Gray walks away, the pacing slows way down, and the whole look and sound of the episode changes somehow. And I honestly don’t know what it is that changes or if I’m just picking up on something that’s not there, but I want to do a shot by shot analysis at some point and look at how shots look (framing, lighting, color) before Order 66, and how they look during and after. For now, all I can really say is that before Order 66 this episode looks like The Clone Wars, and that after, it looks like The Bad Batch, but I’m not one-hundred percent sure why.
2. The snow looks good in this episode, and it still looks good in retrospect, but man oh man does the snow in “The Outpost” look incredible.
3. Listen, I can’t tell you how much I love the setup of your prototypical 80’s/90’s action hero team with your very standard action hero team archetypes and how the show is slowly taking each one of them and turning them inside out. The dark, brooding leader with the knife and the skull tattoo? He’d rather avoid conflict and violence to the point that it’s actually a problem. The big guy who looks like he could rip your spine out with his bare hands? He’d be happy fishing and building homes far away from the war, and he’s so, so gentle. The one who’s a little grumpy and by the book? He’s the rebel. The nerd who initially comes across as the weedy exposition guy? He’s a stone cold badass, and I can’t describe the depths to which he loves the people around him. The jackass sniper? Will commit war crimes but will also commit acts of compassion and selflessness that you would not believe.
And there’s a lot more to all of them, of course, but I like the way it’s done and how low key it is. It’s been happening so slowly that it sometimes seems like it isn’t happening at all, but going back here, to this first episode, from the end of season two, with everything we’ve learned about them and how much they’ve developed as individuals and as a group? It’s kind of striking.
4. Hunter is one-hundred percent the frat boy and/or gifted kid with the perfect record that he was in The Clone Wars during the entire sequence leading up to Order 66, and no where is that more evident than when he says, “If you’re done hiding down there, I’d suggest launching a counter attack,” to Depa Billaba. Credit to Depa for not blowing her top (and deciding that he’s right about the tactics at least), because good lord is that disrespectful. (Worth noting that this attitude extends to Tarkin after the battle simulation scene. He’s not outright flippant, but it’s pretty obvious that he’s not happy about what his squad was just put through and doesn’t care if Tarkin knows it—or, maybe, knows that Tarkin isn’t paying attention enough to notice.)
5. Kind of branching off on that, it’s actually kind of interesting that this attitude of his doesn’t extend to Caleb, even before Order 66, and even though Caleb also outranks him. While Hunter’s tone with Depa firmly falls into, “You can tell me what to do, but that doesn’t mean my team and I will listen,” territory, his tone with Caleb is much softer. And given how protective Hunter is of kids in general, and how desperately he tries to keep Omega away from the horrors of war, I sort of wonder if part of Hunter’s attitude here has to do with him being kind of uneasy with Caleb and the other younger padawans being involved in the war at all, and that translating into a kind of blanket, barely contained disrespect towards jedi who do have padawans out in the field. And that’s not fair to Depa here, if that’s the case, since it wasn’t really her decision (and she’s a fantastic jedi and a very good master to Caleb) and she sort of disagrees with the idea of jedi taking military titles in the first place, but it does make it less of a personal disrespect towards Depa and more of a general disrespect towards a practice that Hunter can’t really openly criticize. This honestly might be reading way too much into a handful of lines, though.
6. Oh, Caleb. Oh, Freddie Prinze, jr. and your wonderful voice that doesn’t sound a day under forty.
7. More seriously, I actually like the way FP jr. is playing Caleb here. The cadence is actually good and comes across as youthful, and he plays the part well. But he really does sound at least twenty years too old and it’s just a thing of absurd beauty. It sends me every time.
8. “Run, Caleb!” I’m fine it’s fine everything’s fine.
9. I’ve written a post about this before, but the fact that Crosshair doesn’t try to kill Caleb after Order 66 is given until after he hears Tech say, “Execute Order 66,” out loud as they’re discussing what the hell just happened even though he could have, implying that his chip doesn’t really activate until he hears Tech say it, murders me. It murders me every time. He’s in the background when Tech says it, and he reacts. And the very next shot is the one of the other four discussing what to do next while Crosshair is slightly out of focus in the foreground, with his helmet on, staring away from the conversation and into the middle distance.
10. You know what else kills the man? The way Hunter keeps shouting at Crosshair to stand down, and the way he yells, “DON’T!” at Caleb when Caleb runs at Crosshair with his lightsaber drawn.
11. Man…I miss Crosshair’s original helmet. It’s such a cool helmet! He needs it back (please let it be in storage somewhere on the Marauder).
12. This episode really sets the stage for how they’re going to pitch various tones—the heavier, more fraught moments against the lighter and more warmly emotionally saturated ones—against each other through the series.
13. “Usually when someone falls you look down, not across.” Yes, that is a somewhat disturbing thing to say, but, also, Crosshair is weirdly perceptive and just as observant as Tech, if not more so, and I will die on this hill.
14. It’s been a while since I watched “Aftermath” or season one, so it really hit me this time that we’re never seeing Tipoca City like this again. It doesn’t mean we won’t every see Kamino again, but Tipoca City?
15. Pay attention to Echo’s face during the scene where a couple of clones wheel that unidentified Jedi out under the sheet. He’s disgusted.
16. I love the argument in the barracks, because Crosshair and Echo both think that the mission on Kaller was a failure, but for entirely different reasons. Also, the way Tech looks up at Crosshair as he’s discussing clones being programmed and how they’re the exceptions and adds, “But I can’t be certain of it,” is so…. He’s so suspicious that that’s why Crosshair’s acting the way he is, but he’s not sure, he doesn’t say anything, and I think it takes him a little while to square the idea of Crosshair’s chip activating with the idea that the batch is different enough that they’re immune to the programming—because if Crosshair’s not immune, then maybe the rest of them aren’t either. And that’s a frightening thought. And, honestly? I kind of love that Tech gets it a little wrong here by not voicing his suspicions or working them out.
17. Omega is so tiny and innocent and so happy to see her brothers I just *cries* Also, she is such a little gremlin. Between the food fight scene and that scene where she sneaks into the batch’s barracks? Gosalyn. Mallard. Energy. Also, I somehow missed that the family photo she pulls out was sitting in Hunter’s trunk before.
18. I…may…have been paying a lot of attention to Tech this time around for, you know, reasons, so here’s one sort of adorable thing I noticed: After Omega replies to Hunter asking if she’s got anywhere else to be with, “No, I’ll stay,” and makes it clear that she wants to be around them, Tech just will not stop smiling at Omega almost every time he looks at her. He’s got those sibling adoption papers signed and notarized in triplicate within about two seconds. (Maybe starting to think him mentioning that, by the way, Omega’s a clone and she’s one of us it’s so obvious guys later in the episode was his way of convincing Hunter that they needed to go back for her.)
19. One more thing about Tech. So. Um. That moment where Tech gets thrown from the droid he’s piloting during the battle simulation. Um. Do—do I need to have a counter for “During the course of the season opener Tech is thrown and injured in a fall and needs—and luckily has—help getting back up and around,” because that’s a weirdly specific thing that’s happened in both season openers so far and is perfectly set up to happen again in the third and Jennifer I am in your wallllsss. I swear if we open season three following Tech’s pov of his fall, see him reach the ground alive but badly hurt, and see him get picked up by someone, but, before we see who, we cut to Omega to waking up from a (force induced (?)) nightmare/vision of seeing it all happen a la the the opening sequence of the PJ Two Towers movie I will riot but in a good way. The show’s already been going ham on the LOTR homages so what harm would one more do. I am eating your furniture.
20. That moment during the argument in the brig when Crosshair turns away from the rest of the batch but towards the camera and you can see him react to what the chip is telling him and shake his head before turning back to argue more is like a knife to the gut. Related: Omega’s little discussion with Crosshair. I want to see Omega’s relationship with Crosshair develop so badly, but I’m not ready. Crossdad will kill me. I ought to buy my plot and headstone now.
21. There’s a whole other post to be made about this, but I really enjoy how ambiguous the episode keeps Crosshair’s reasons for going with the shock troopers after the brig scene. Is it because of the chip and the argument he just had with everyone because of what the chip trying to force him to think, or is it because he knows that the shock troopers will take him by force anyway and hurt his family if he doesn’t go willingly? I honestly think there’s elements of both at play, but given the added context of season two and how much Crosshair loves his family in spite of everything, I think the desire to protect Hunter and the rest from what would happen if he didn’t just go with the shock troopers was the deciding factor. It’s another reason why I don’t think that Crosshair’s story is going to end in a self-sacrificial death. Because if he’s going with the shock troopers to protect his family, the self-sacrifice started right here, even though Crosshair had no way of knowing what that would mean for him or what it would entail, and reaches a fever pitch next season during “Tipping Point.” Death would be a bit of a step down at this point.
22. The chip amplification scene is hard to watch.
23. Speaking of Crosshair’s chip amplification, the way Nala Se talks about it to Lama Su kind of implies that it might be the first time she’s actually done that procedure, or done it successfully, and that it’s definitely the first time she’s done it at the request of a republic or imperial official. I don’t think the mindflayer technology we see in The Mandalorian is exactly the same as what we see in this episode, but I so think it’s definitely an evolution of this, and that Crosshair was Test Subject 0 for the Clone X assassins we’re going to see later in the series. Also? I don’t think Crosshair has any idea that this was done to him. I think there’s a part of him that’s just as confused about what he does in the hangar as Hunter and the rest are.
24. Speaking of what he does in the hangar—there’s a split second moment during the hangar scene where Crosshair walks in, sees the rest of the batch, and looks terrified for just a few frames before settling down into business mode, and I think there’s a couple things going on here. One, he sees the batch, they’ve found Omega, and it looks like they’re packing up to go. He has no idea that they’re planning on going back in to find him, so it’s possible that he sees this and thinks that they’re leaving him. Two, the part of him that’s still himself and aware of what he’s doing knows what he’s about to do and he’s horrified, but unable to stop, and probably unable to even think clearly about stopping.
25. I need to keep a closer eye on Hunter and his enhanced senses, because they were actually all over this episode.
26. There’s so much happening in the Onderon sequence, but this is getting really long and it probably needs its own post. Related bit: The way Crosshair says, “The war is over,” in this scene lives rent free in my head.
27. I also have a lot of thoughts about Hunter and Omega, but it’s honestly a lot of incoherent yelling because it’s! It’s them! Bandana dad and sunshine daughter! Before they really know each other! (Also, the way he notices her copying him is the most precious thing because you can tell he doesn’t know what to do with it.)
28. Omega looking out with literal stars in her eyes as the ship enters hyperspace is one of my favorite shots in the entire show.

I covered the fact Wayne represents the Frogs' logos (with Emma being the pathos but I'm still trying to decide who's ethos. Bowie? Julia? Julia misquotes the Dalai Lama and talks about goddesses and crystals, so probably her?) but it's really noticeable how malleable a person Wayne is. In Ep04, while he sets himself up for being on the offense with Raj, Bowie, and why-ever they brought MK along, when it was obvious they were better off defending, he was like. defense it is. As he is a sports boy, it'd be assumed he's only good at one position (as most goalies couldn't just become a center fielder as a sub, since they don't train for the same things), especially a less "glamourous" position such as defense (in reality it does not matter, but people pretend offense players are better) He's an exceptionally good sport, which is not something we can say about all the other sports-based/jock TD characters.
It's also to note that Wayne is the first person on the team to call out MK on being a bad team player. Wayne doesn't usually look mad, but he did NOT look happy at MK refusing to huddle up and suggest there's no reason to think strategy. He's completely ok with Emma taking over and picking roles tho, so he's pretty damn comfortable with not always being the leader (as noted with Ep02, where he adapts to Emma's plan. have I mentioned those two are such team leaders for the Frogs? A million times? Oh sorry)
There's a notable subversion with their paired identities for Wayne and Raj. Wayne is the captain, while Raj is [one of the] alternate captain[s]. Essentially, Raj is Wayne's vice president. However, Wayne is a lot more reliant on Raj, than their team identities are. Throughout the season, Wayne asks Raj's opinion on everything (notably in Ep01, as one of his first defining characterizations), but Raj doesn't as often do the same. In Ep06, Raj is the one to immediately leave the catapult, while Wayne made no motion to be the one to separate themselves. He also didn't comment on Bowie calling the two of them in their "cozy", (which Raj defends, saying they're teammates, so) because that sort of attachment is so normal to Wayne he doesn't feel a need to react to people commenting on it, while Raj does. In Ep03, Wayne receives a [long] pep talk from Raj, but Raj never needed one himself going first of Emma's suggestion (or it happened off screen, but like, if it did there'd be the time for a joke where someone says "WE ALREADY DID THIS"). And also the bit in Ep06 where Raj explains Wayne has a way too stressed face when pooping (note: Raj?)
There's also the long-running plot point where Wayne is pretty concerned with what Raj thinks of him, afraid that Raj is afraid he's homo/biphobic, and that's the driving reason that Raj didn't come out to him like. Immediately. The fear of "well he tells me everything, if he won't tell me this, it's clearly something I did", but due to the 13 episode time limit of the show, Wayne didn't have time to make this insecurity about him and was just increasingly unsubtle, never really trying to force him out.
I know it's super easy and super fun to reduce the two to "omg sports himbos <3" but Wayne's got some emotional intelligence on him, and he is not a carbon copy of Raj, and it's much more than just the lack of a gay love interest. He'll always take the role of leader, but if someone else has a successful idea, he'll hop down and let them take the wheel. Paired with his leadership, friendly attitude, and general respect for everyone around him (not to Keith tho) I can see him making finale a lot more than I can see Raj making finale.
I think having the boys on separate teams and having Raj leave pre-merge could be really impactful. Wayne waits at the cabin for Raj to come back and tell him who left, but he just... never returns. Wayne wasn't at the ceremony, so he didn't even get to say goodbye. Wayne wants to throw the challenge but someone (Emma, Bowie, Julia, etc) tells him to snap out of it because Raj would be furious Wayne gave up on himself. And Wayne has to pick himself up off the ground and win for Raj. Like the Katie and Sadie micro-arc, except give Wayne more time to suffer within himself before being told to stop, as well as not axe him with no actual development. I think that kind of emotional rupture could change my brain chemistry.

First off, thank you for your enthusiasm Wintyr :D
There's at least three AFI notes I could think of -- the invite from Clandestine, the Miss Murder note, and the invite from Hidden Knives. I needed something to rep Blood so I went with HK in the sketch, but I'm reconsidering it since it's not as iconic or legible. It's hard to think of other Blood rep besides putting the triangle/blood drops logo somewhere. (A Snow Cats themed plush does sound cool, like if it had a "cutie mark" of the logo??) Miss Murder should get representation though. Would a few knives poorly hidden within the piece count as a Hidden Knives reference...?
The icy grey pants + pink shoes would probably only work if I do the piece in full color, but also damn I want to reference it lol! Maybe alternatively I could hide a muddy bike to represent the "filthy bike-o"? I'm also now thinking about a) including the AFI-branded Vans, and b) drawing only a single shoe to thinly reference the iconic "is that not you're fucking shoe? You just wanted it because I touched it?!" from my first AFI concert.
I def need something from the Five Flowers mystery -- I actually took part of my name from it! (chopped the "char" off of "charlottenothing"). Will have to do some sleuthing to see if I can get any image references of the secret show tix. I have the ticket stub for "The Nightmare After Christmas" show in 2002 with the TNBC art on it, but maybe I can fit both.
Thinking about some other additions. I need is something to represent STS20 -- probably going with the leaf confetti for that. Also could use a 337 somewhere. I think I'm missing SYMAOYE rep...I considered doing the magic box where the album art was taken from, but that would be awfully complicated. Can't exactly do the entire ice cream truck from the Third Season mv. Something to do with threes??? Maybe I should go over the lyrics to try and find something. Black Sails needs something too -- perhaps a Malleus Maleficarum book?
Going off of your idea of using a photo of a kid with a mohawk, I think I could maybe pull off including at least one Polaroid & it would be fun to reference an old photo of Davey in particular. I know exactly which one I'd want to do, too. I can't find it offhand, but it's from the mid-90's when he had a mohawk & he's making a ridiculous face.
More possible ideas: the shovel from my beloved "goth mom" photoshoot circa 2002. Flowers referenced in their lyrics, perhaps the bouquet of flowers from the Dulcería mv. A pumpkin from the Totalimmortal mv. A (vegan) muffin, to reference Davey's quote in the Punk Rock Museum. CD's/vinyl of some of their big inspos like Misfits & The Cure.
I certainly have a lot to think about & research >:3

29, 39, and 40 for the Star Trek asks, please. ✨
Thank you so much for the questions!
29. Favourite and Least Favourite Episodes:
Ooooh, good question! Let's start with the negativity so we can end on a high note 😅
I... honestly would put most of Picard seasons 2 & 3 in the "least favourite" category 🙈 If I had to pinpoint some lowlights, it'd be "Fly Me to the Moon". It's not a bad episode in itself and in isolation, I might not mind it, but the two times I watched through season 2 in order, this was the episode where I found myself crying and/or shaking with rage and disappointment when it was over. Probably becuase it really drives home that they're serious about where they're going with this series I used to love and it's not somewhere I can follow.
Disregarding that... I have a terrible memory for this kind of thing 😅 And I guess it depends on what you mean by "least favourite".
I think one objective measure to use: I don't ever want to see the ENT mpreg episode again, where everyone acts like Trip Tucker having his bodily autonomy violated in a horrendous way is The Funniest Shit™. That has seared itself into my brain so much that when I was rewatching all of TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT to take notes for the holo-tech database, it's actually the only episode I wanted to skip.
There are also some real bombs in season 1 of TNG, and some of the Ferengi episodes in DS9 are firmly on my "no thank you" list. But yeah, I think the involuntary mpreg takes the cake, honestly.
Now for the much funner part: There are SO MANY episodes I truly love! DS9's "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" and "Badda-Bing Badda Bang", PIC's "Broken Pieces", VOY's "Concerning Flight" (which is apparently controversial?), "Drive", "Bride of Chaotica!", also any VOY episode that has Naomi Wildmann in it...
There are also A Ton of Deep and Dramatic episodes I love, but from my instinctive answers I'm realizing that what draws me to an episode as a "favourite" is apparently "It's fun!" (and likely involves the holodeck? 🙈🤣) So yeah, if we're talking favourite, not best, it's probably something along these lines.
39. You have to relocate to a planet other than Earth, which do you choose?
Hm, that's a tough one. I feel like not that many planets readily spring to mind, so I'll have to really think about this.
It'd probably be near the centre of the Federation for that sweet, sweet post-capitalist utopia (and also because my family is presumably still on Earth and I want to be able to visit Very Frequently.
Vulcan is a big No, because my body does not function above 25° C🙈 I love snow and ice, though, so Andoria might be a real option (though not technically a planet, I guess 😋).
Beyond that, I'm honestly drawing a blank. I think I haven't seen enough TOS/TNG in a while, so I don't remember too many worlds they visited. But yeah, probably somewhere that's close to the Sol, close to the centre of the Federation, has good temperate-to-colder climate to live in... In the end, it would probably very much depend on why I'm relocating and whom with.
40. If you got a Trek inspired tattoo, what would it be?
Another tough one 😅 I don't have any tattoos and don't think I'll ever get any. For one, I'm way too scared of that kind of long-term commitment, but also my skin has Issues™ and I don't know how long a tattoo would look decent.
If I were to get one, though? Let's be honest, it would be some version of the Sirena logo. That little ship has shaped my life in ways more profound than I can even say. Sirena and her crew got me to write again after over a decade, gave me so, so, SO much joy, not to mention all the incredible, wonderful friends I foud along the way (that's you!)
I think for me, Sirena stands for found family, friendship, healing, creativity, allowing myself to feel joy in my nerdiness and head for new adventures. So yeah.
Tumblr media
If not that, probably some variation of IDIC, either the symbol or the saying in Vulcan script 🤔
--
This was fun! Thank you so much for the asks! And if anyone else wants to know more:
Send Me Star Trek Asks 💗

Like the answers! :D
1: if they were able to paint their faces, what would they paint? When I was little I got my face painted to look like Batman with the blue cowl 😂
2: do they do nostalgic kid stuff, like making noises in front of those plug in fans or play with those door stopper thingies?
3: are the duo the type to slide down a railing/stair banister? For slapstick comedy, I can see them accidentally fall sideways off of it or hitting the end piece crotch first XD
4: has there been a time where they accidentally spilt their pants or taking a energy beam blast, leaving them in their underwear? (Don’t know if this question is ok to answer, message me if this is ok)
5: what was their first cuss word? Either accidentally or purposely.
6: what’s your opinion on the tv show Superman & Lois? I have a few rewriting ideas that you might love ;)
1: the “twins” are much younger, like 8-10
2: the twins aren’t twins XD
3: the Jordan character is superboy Jon Kent who is a year younger. The Jonathan character is Chris Kent who pretty much a little of your version: blue heat vision, gets powers from moon, from the phantom zone (if it exists don’t remember)
4: the first season is about gangs somehow having kryptonian weapons, later it’s revealed it was brought from a wormhole from space similar to Chris’s arrival. The season finale reveals that Chris is a sleeper agent anytime he hears words similar to portals ( portal, dimension, phantom zone itself) for his father Zod.
5: the second season is about Zods invasion & at the end, Chris breaks free of the program due to his superfamily loves & for drama, snaps his neck like in man of steel, due to his “warrior blood”
@pin-crusher2000 Glad you do, now here’s some more of them lol
1) For Jake, I can see the aforementioned Batcowl around his eyes and forehead while for Chris on the other hand, he’d probably would get two matching blue dragons on each side of his cheeks and a House of El S logo on the space between his eyebrows, just being a bit experimental
2) I can see the Duo probably jump on the couch if they’re especially bored (though remembering to put it back together after they’re done), be a little silly and wacky with their Lego sets, have some soda drinking contests and maybe as established before roleplay as warriors from their planet’s past akin to say tag or hide and seek in a way.
3) Mostly likely Jake alone would be doing that since Chris can conversely can float down the stairs for funsies instead. As for comedic mishaps, Jake on his try did indeed accidentally fall off sideways upon making it to the bottom, thankfully he wasn’t badly hurt but now he knows to adjust his balance better afterwards.
4) Actually if they do sustain damage to their outfits, I envision it being for more dramatic and painful reasons than comedic ones, mainly a result of bad beat downs the Duo would get from supervillains on their similar power level. It’s actually more common for them to have their boots shredded off by massive energy blasts and explosions or missing one of two gloves after saving the day. So yeah, nothing too comedic on this case
5) Chris: “Oh hell”; accidentally when he was six and after hearing Lois say it so many times when things went wrong for her. He said it out loud during a time the family were watching Clark trying to fight back against Solaris The Tyrant Sun and it was going badly
Jake: “Son of a Dick!”; On purpose when he’s about five when trying to float of the ground because his powers hadn’t kicked in yet.
6) Oh I like it for what it is just fine but I’ll freely admit those rewrite ideas are REALLY something that they should go for one day. Especially the one of Chris being an unintentional sleep agent for Zod and later fighting back as a season finale. (Chefs Kiss)
I love that SO much XD

I saw @twiggy-ink's post about how with the new trailer for the 20th season of d20 coming out (while it's d20's 5 year anniversary), how it might be the return of Fantasy High Junior Year and how fitting it would be to return to where they started for this new season...
AND I HAVE PROOF TO FURTHER THIS THEORY, which I would like to submit to the council for review:
So we know that they film Dimension 20 seasons very much in advance. With filming being completed at least 3-4 months before release of the season. Well on June 19th, Ally Beardsley (the legend) posted a TikTok containing all of the Intrepid Heroes together. They seemed to be getting prepped to go film something in a warehouse somewhere. It also contains pictures of the cast - most of them in hair and makeup chairs. Further proof that they were in the process of filming. This timeline would match up with their past schedules and the potential release of the next season.
"But Livie," you say, "They may just be filming a new Intrepid Heroes season. Or maybe even something unrelated. It's not gonna be Junior Year, you're delusional!"
And that's where I'd cry and say you're right... EXCEPT that in this liminal space, there are not one, not two, but THREE fantasy high related wall decorations hanging up. With a "Hoot Growl" banner being the first. The second being a logo poster for what seems to be the owl bears. And the third being a quote from Arthur Aguefort himself!
I've taken the liberty to flip these photos taken from Ally's TikTok around, to further show their contents:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now while this may genuinely be a coincidence, and just how the space is decorated... why isn't there anything from any other d20 season? Riddle me that? Why specifically these three posters? Why photos of the cast in hair and makeup chairs immediately after showing these posters? Why did Ally do a full spin in their chair - making sure to show off all three posters briefly?
I believe that during this time, they were in the process of filming Fantasy High Junior year. The timing of when this TikTok was posted as compared to the reveal of this new trailer for dimension 20's 20th season - lines up perfectly with their previously established filming schedule. As twiggy-ink has pointed out- if this is truly Fantasy High Junior Year, what amazing timing for this return!
I stand by you Twiggy. We shall be delusional together, as fantasy high season 3 truthers 💖
If I'm proven wrong and all my thoughts over this come to nothing I will scream, and then happily consume the new season while being a husk of a human being

Todays rip: 16/07/2023
Medley Rush #7
Season 3 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips Volume A
Ripped by - ̗̀Dead Line ̖́- (@deadlinesmb)
youtube
I've covered a hell of a lot of artists on this blog so far, as you might've noticed. There's some that I only started looking into through doing further research, a small few that I knew from outside of SiIvaGunner, and - most relevant to todays rip - some that I became keenly aware of specifically through their output.
Think of rippers like dante, or l4ureleye, or Cryptrik - with styles so distinctly their own and proudly presented, you can start identifying which rips are theirs just from a listen. And amidst these rippers sits one Dead Line - an artist identifiable through just how much their own tastes in games and music shines through in their rips.
Simply put, whether the rip be Splatoon, Super Monkey Ball, Indie Pogo, No Straight Roads, or Sonic Rush: If the rip exudes love and quality, there's a HIGH chance Dead Line was involved in it. This feeling of sincere affection for the game being covered just exudes from just about every rip they've produced, including the rip for today: Medley Rush #7.
Debuting in the first month of the Season, the track makes an insane first impression as both a loveletter to Sonic Rush and the channel's two prior Seasons. Every part of the titular medley is melodyswapped, either to a noteworthy meme from a period of time during the channel, or in direct reference to fondly remembered rips altogether, such as Season 1's Moves like Jeh Jeh. Alongside the amazing arrangements, there's a small sprinkling of more immediately funny shitposts, which just keep the rip's momentum going for the entire ride. For Sonic Rush fans, especially paired with the visuals, its a surprisingly fun joyride, and for SiIva fans its a trip down memory lane in preparation for the Season ahead. The visuals aren't anything special - its just blurred-out gameplay footage behind the game's logo to punctuate every part of the medley - yet they sell home just how significant the rip is, as one to pay attention to as a wholesale labor of love.
Then again, if that's what visuals were for, every one of Dead Line's rips would deserve one. They're one of my favorite contributors on the channel, and I get a huge smile on my face whenever I'm able to spot one of their rips in the wild.

image id: five drawings of a fake destiny season with my ocs, season of the cycle.
image 1 shows a ‘cover’ for season of the cycle, with a close up of samira’s face split by a blue line of energy and showing a masked figure on the other side. behind samira is the ruined city of freehold on mars, and behind the masked figure is the same city mid-destruction. white text reads ‘season of the cycle’, and the logo for the season, which looks like a compass with it’s needle pointed at both ends, is placed below the words.
image 2 shows samira as a destiny character. she’s a warlock and is wearing a modified version of the veritas robe. the outer coat is beige, and the armor beneath it is dark blue and dark brown. one of the sides of the coat is pulled up and tucked into her belt, giving it an asymettrical look. a full body and a close up of the outfit is shown.
image 3 shows color palette tests for past, present, and future versions of the martian landscape and freehold. the present is in nuetral oranges, browns, and greys. the future is in pale pinks and purples, and hundreds of pyramid ships are seen in the sky. the past is in harsh reds, oranges, and blacks, and shows the city on fire. in the present, bright blue time anomalies are seen warping the city.
image 4 shows the same shot of a small alleyway with a radio tower over a collapsed figure at the bottom of it in the three palettes discussed above. additionally, in the past the radio tower is partially collapsed, and in the future, purple flowers surround the collapsed figure. the fourth version shows the scenes overlapping, with the blue time anomaly energy dividing them.
image 5 shows the cynosure, an imposing cloaked figure wearing a partially-disassembled mask with two radio antenna attached to it. their cloak has a large fur collar, and appears to be made of multiple other cloak styles layered on top of each other. a second sketch shows the mask in closer detail, and is labelled ‘future imperfect, warlock exotic’.
end id.
oc-tober day 17 - figured while i was at it, i’d post another au!!! here’s my destiny au, where the cast of s/n takes over for a season - season of the cycle!!
i have more notes on this au....somewhere but i cant find them but it’s mostly about sam, a hidden agent who was once missing and mysteriously reappears, helping you investigate the time anomalies on the newly returned mars

Okay, random Star Wars: Rebels ramble, feel free to skip, because it is really long and mostly praise that someone's probably already described better than me. Also, spoilers for seasons 1-3.
Rebels is so good? Genuinely the first and only Star Wars media that truly drove me crazy 'cause the writing, the score (Force theme I love you and how you're subtle but potent in every instance), the characters, even the art style? Made me cry actual tears with their moments of brilliance.
TCW is so widely considered the superior one but the "The Last Battle" episode in Rebels made me have more feelings about the Clone Wars than all 7 seasons of TCW. Like, that little homage to the show with the end logo and score? Had me crying, the futility and destruction wrought on the entirety of the galaxy by that war only affected me after that episode. It gave a lot of emotional context to the events of TCW, I felt a weird fondness for the TCW characters after this episode. Also, captain Rex in Rebels is dealt with beautifully.
All the "big-shot" characters are dealt with well, actually. Ahsoka, Vader, Obi-wan, even Maul- none of them seem overdone, or like they're stealing the show, but their lines are powerful. The final few minutes of the S2 finale, where there's a montage of everyone's fate, and then the fade-out on a hopeful note despite the horror of everything? Made me have incoherent thoughts.
Vader walking out completely exhausted, the lightsaber mark on his helmet, limping physically and emotionally? I felt that scene- I felt the pain and conflict in his heart even in that simple walk- in the way he tried to negotiate with Ahsoka, in that uncertainty in his eye before he suppressed Anakin again, in the way (someone else has pointed this out, borrowing it) he says "revenge is not the jedi way"- it's not a taunt, not really a tactic to make her back down- it's a final lesson to his apprentice. And then, that walking out with the owl (I guess it's an owl) having its happy little flutter over the devastation of that planet? Showed me how powerful yet broken Vader is.
Even Ahsoka's "I won't leave you"- it's not with any real hope that he'll turn. It's a way to seal a gushing wound she knows will never heal otherwise. Her guilt is a factor, but so is the jedi way she claims to have left. She will stand by her loyalty to Anakin, even if it kills her. And implying that it does kill her, but still showing her silhouette in the blinding light for a second? dfjiwrgbju I know she comes back, because spoilers from Mandalorian, but I'm beyond excited to see how.
The Spectres have my heart, every single one, and I love how all of them are taken seriously. I won't get started on any of them cause I won't be able to stop. They seem realer, more human, more attached to each other; more like a family, in a nutshell, than any group in TCW (for me, at least). The slow unravelling of their personal histories is done realistically, and the absence of OP heroes whose lightsabers can cut through a thousand droids kinda... elevates the plots? All the Spectres use their respective skills, their plans are dynamic and refreshing because of the different approaches they take, and each episode explores different planets and peoples with a closeness that I feel was absent in TCW. They aren't just tactically judged- we feel an affinity for the Rebels' cause through their respect for the people they help. The Ghosts of Geonosis episodes, with the last surviving native and the egg, are a nice example of this.
S2's finale, with Ezra's temptation and Kanan's blinding, sets up S3's conflicts beautifully, while still showing that the family's love for each other will carry them through, together. The fact that their responsibilities have grown, their risks and reach expanded, their individual demons demanding resolutions- all of it prophetizes danger, but hope that goodness will prevail- which in my opinion is the point of all of Star Wars.
It also sets up the Rebellion and the Empire as each other's foils, and does it well- it gets too on-the-nose sometimes (Saw Gerrera episode) but I think the episode where Zeb and Agent Kallus are stuck on the ice moon maintains subtlety while driving this point home. Kallus isn't bereft of honor, he's not inherently cruel, and he starts off with good intentions, but the Empire's way of doing things is calculated to quash any and all warmth or camaraderie. Kallus watching Zeb getting rescued by his team, with all their concern and joy, and contrasting that with the cold welcome he himself receives, the dreary and desolate quarters that are his home- it truly makes his defection believable, and it endeared his character to me. His changing relationship with his own sense of duty was conveyed in a lucid but not overt manner. Also, on the subject of foils, someone had mentioned that Kanan and the GI are such a pair, which I didn't really see, but I think S3 is doing a good job of setting Hera and Thrawn as each other's foils, with their approach to, or rather philosophy of, leadership- both are effective, but one will ultimately best the other. No, I'm not completely basing this off the screen cutting back and forth to their faces during part 1 of the S3 finale, why do you ask?
For the point of camaraderie, you also have the examples of Imperial training- no referring to each other with names, "there are no friendships here", the encouragement of disdain for each other- it portrays how many of the Imperials have had so much of their humanity taken away that believing in the Empire's grand vision is all they have left to console themselves. On the other hand, we have the Rebels treating even Chopper as a sadistic and cranky crew member. The droid double agent episode? Love. This can't be Chopper, he's too polite. They actually name the Attolan base after him.
Also, S3 gave us Grand Admiral Thrawn. Gold star. Stupendous. Villain of the year. I know he's going to wreck shit in the S3 finale, cannot wait to want to punch him. The politeness, the level-headedness, the cold, calculated cruelty; this guy is Competent, and his voice actor has my undying respect. Impeccable example of a voice "so soft you can hear the ice settling on his tongue". I'm starting to feel bad for how his accurate deductions never work out because everyone implementing them simply isn't on his level. Alsoo this may completely change with S4, but there's this quote someone used about Julius Caesar- "he is a man of violence, but not a violent man"- which I think describes S3 Thrawn pretty well.
After TCW's episodic cardboard villains, and the other extreme of invincible master deceiver Sidious, Rebels' Thrawn and Callus (first 2 seasons) manage to be an actual recurring threat whose plans are clever enough to challenge the heroes. Whenever Vader shows up, you can see why he's feared- not just for his prowess in conflict, but for his intelligence and perception- the crumbling Imperial resistance on Lothal in S1 suddenly does everything right when Vader shows up. He's only thwarted by having two ships collapse on him, and Ezra's reaction makes it clear that he Did Not expect Vader to brush that off, or survive at all.
Also, character arcs? Maul's despondency and craving for solace, for revenge against the Sith, whose ways he can nevertheless not give up? Kanan's growing acceptance of the Rebellion's bigger purpose and his own reconciliation with the Force and his changing identity as a jedi and teacher? Accomplishing the mark of a true master- trusting their apprentice and letting go because he knows he's done his part teaching? Ezra is... too long for this post. Also, Sabine and Zeb's reconciliation with their family/planet? All the Rebels restoring each others' faith? Even the minor characters- Fenn Rau, Hondo, Callus (don't mind me, this guy just became my blorbo, I absolutely cannot with him in the ice moon episode)- they're all fleshed out really well.
In summary (as if I've actually structured this) Rebels has a lot more heart than other SW media for me- the emotional beats which often fell flat in TCW worked on me here. Every time the Spectres made a decision saying "you are my home, you are my family"- it felt earned. I was genuinely upset even when the Phantom was destroyed. S4 better not come for the Ghost. Rebels really captured the humanity of the galaxy with these touches of how the Rebellion came together- the episode with the B-wing prototype, the squadron team-ups, the local recruits throwing off the yoke of the Empire. The success of the show, I think, was they made it small-scale. The little details took up entire episodes, and I personally couldn't stop watching.
On the subject of ships- Kanan and Hera activated the rijwasbkgie switch in my head that I had, until now, only observed in you fine bloggers.
Just to mention stuff I didn't like- the Inquisitors were cool, but ultimately forgettable. When the Seventh Sister opened her helmet I legit thought BARRISS OFFEE???? for a second, but alas, it was not to be. Also, Azmorigan- slimy, unnecessary, looks and acts like the vibe of the Denethor tomato scene come to life.
To conclude, if you like Star Wars, watch Rebels, especially if you've already watched TCW. I watched in that order (skipped Bad Batch because I'm not sure I'll like it) and it made TCW's points about violence and courage more poignant for me. Also, you get to see a badass character use the Darksaber right when you thought she couldn't get any more badass, and Kanan Jarrus offering free therapy via training to everyone, including, fortunately, himself. The lightsaber duels are to die for; Twilight of the Apprentice boasts probably the best-choreographed duelling in all of Star Wars- the Inquisitors against the jedi (and Ahsoka) and Maul, blind! Kanan defeating Maul, and the Ahsoka/Vader fight that I'm completely normal about? Poetic cinema.

Thank you for the explanation regarding dsmp seasons. I didn't realize they did more sitcom seasons than hermitcraft-y seasons lol.
Yeah. They aren't really obvious because we only use them sometimes to discuss specific character moments. Like “l miss season 1's writing” or “C!Tubbo didn't feel very active as a character in seasons 3 and 4” but since we also have the arc division which is just as good measure term since there really isn't a reset. I could say “Exile arc really touched in very heavy themes and I liked that” or “I think the Egg arc is underrated ” so in the end this are just lore divisions that unless you aren't in you won't really know about.
Heemitcraft really is more obvious. There's a reset and the logo and videos change name every time. Is true reset every season. I believe this new Dream SMP "season" or installment since it will get confusing with the previous season divide will be more similar to the Hermitcraft one. Although I think Dream said the world won't be reset.
I hope they make world downloads. I really want to sit on bench, see the Musium, and walk around. It would be nice. 😊

So this post has me thinking about 8:15 and season three. @aemiron-main I was thinking about looking through the whole season for any other weird 8:15’s but I think I might have found something weird in ep one?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the second picture is the exact shot that’s at 8:15 and then Dustin says, “welcome home.” It’s in response to Will telling him welcome home and then Dustin being sad that all his friends abandoned him- but the picture before that is of Will leaving. It’s really similar to season one, right after Will says, “it was a seven” and bikes away. And that’s weird. Because of all the weird time fuckery with season one, and even just episode one of season one. So, there’s that
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Dustin intercepts the message from the mall, and cerebro lights up green and then there’s a blue label and and the yellow light on the amp meter. And that’s colour theory, I know, but I think it might fit with something here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHEN BLUE MEETS YELLOW IN THE WEST- this part of the message is connected to season four right? But what if the rest of the message is connected to other seasons?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“The week is long” like the week that Will spent in the upside down?????
Tumblr media
And then the message repeats but only translates the line “the silver cat feeds.” But what if it’s not just repeating?? What if it’s like a weird circle? Like Vecna was feeding on Will when he was in the upside down for a week and when Mike left Hawkins and ‘blue met yellow in the west?’. Idk about a trip to china sounds nice if you tread lightly but the rest of it seems to line up in a weird circle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then when Alexi goes to look at the machine, there’s blue and yellow in neon lights. I went though the episode backwards, because I didn’t think that there was anything to do with 8:15 or time fuckery at the beginning but I looked it over and there might be something there as well?
Tumblr media
this is near/right before 8:15 at the start of the episode, El’s bracelet from hopper is in frame with the numbers of her tattoo visible as she talks to Mike. Mike says something along the lines of being there early tomorrow? In their convo which I thought was kind weird because Mike’s always late and then there’s the thing with Will in ep 3 and “is it early Michael?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is at 8:15, or as close as I can get to it (high speed scrubbing is not my friend). Mike’s ariving late to starcourt and there’s storm clouds above it. It doesn’t really look like the mind flayer at all, but it made me think of it hunched over the snow ball. it’s weird and ominous and oddly doesn’t cover the whole sky? idk it just seems intentional somehow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is just more about blue and yellow. The light on the floor when they’re all walking into the mall, and the fact that the scoops ahoy logo is blue and yellow despite the colour theme being red, white and blue.
Tumblr media
When they go into the theature to see the movie Will senses the mind flayer briefly. I just think its really weird that the movie poster thats in shot before they go in is Back to the Future, the movie that fucks with time so hard- wait a god damn second here let me google something holy shit. oh. oh fuck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i gotta go lay down for a while.
