Okay so I love zombie stuff, I love seeing how they affect the world and how people respond to them, and your premise sounds fascinating.
Did the government do much to try getting the zombies under control after the safe zones were made, or did they think that would be good enough? How much of the population was left after the initial outbreak and how is that affecting things in the current setting?
I have more I could ask but I'll save it for later 🤣 also if these are things talked about in the story feel free to keep your answer here vague
HIII THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS <33 most of it is indeed gonna be mentioned in the book as well as the story unfolds but since it will be very long until i actually finish anything i'll go over most of it here, keeping only a few things vague for bigger plot twists but also i try to not use shock value in this story so you can probably already figure out what's really going on but that just makes the story more fun >:^)
so as a bit of background information: the virus starts off as a virus that pretty easily spreads from human to human and then as soon as people start turning to zombies it basically turns into a different mutation that kills the host a LOT faster than the original strain does, the original strain is still out there during the initial outbreak which happens in europe but eventually fades out the more prominent the zombie version of the virus becomes because victims of the original strain end up getting bitten before the virus kills and turns them so they die before they can spread it. i hope that makes sense. i feel like it does
ANYWAY since it's a regular virus at first and just starts turning people at some point seemingly randomly (but in reality it's not as randomly as what humanity thinks), the first wave of zombies is HUGE in like. west/central europe. because everyone who's infected just becomes a zombie and especially in city areas they then turn 1-3 people before they get killed since these zombies are FAST especially in the early stages. it does take a while for it to spread beyond europe but generally speaking the initial outbreaks in countries cause a large chunk of mainly city populations to get wiped out pretty fast, which leaves most of specifically europe and city areas in asia in ruins. other continents have more time to prepare which causes the lethality rate to be a little less high but for some reason still not by much... INTERESTING...
so the initial outbreak is in europe and then starts spreading rapidly over land to other countries and then continents as well. it differs from country to country what kind of measures are taken to try and control it but for Some reason it seems like no matter what they do the virus just. keeps spreading... INTERESTING... it does take a good few years before it's spread all across the globe which is a fascinating phenomenon to think about. imagine having to continue your life as normal while there's ZOMBIES running around on another continent. i'd cry myself to sleep every night
the united states specifically uses an advisory body made of several external organizations (both irl and fictional, so for example the world health organization would be part of it but also just a bunch of fictional organizations that are kind of like that) which helps determining what the best course of action is. they came up with the blueprint for the network of safe zones and tunnels connecting them together and since the story takes place 30 years after the initial outbreak, other countries are now also using that strategy to at least get people to safer areas while they work on trying to manage the wasteland
one of the fictional organizations here is matrix corp, which started as an independent medical research organization back in the 1980s and has since then grown to hold the monopoly over most of the medical research of the western world. next to research they also focus on developing rapid research methods to speed up testing and trials for creating vaccines and such, which is why they end up gaining popularity so quickly over the years with all the diseases the world has to deal with leading up to the zombie apocalypse
in the story itself, matrix is still in charge of a lot of decisions in the world when it comes to "the safety of humanity" since governments have put so much of their trust in them already during other outbreaks, which were all controlled by matrix pretty easily. this arguably gives matrix more power in the world than the actual governments themselves have which is also an interesting dynamic and it's explored more in the story itself, especially with some very interesting things the main characters learn on their journey back to los angeles >:^)
as for the wasteland surrounding the safe zones, in the united states specifically there's not much being done about it surprisingly but at the same time it's not really clear for both the reader and the characters as to why. as also mentioned in the summary, while the main characters are traveling they learn that there is SO much more life left in the wasteland than what the government wants them to believe which adds to what i said earlier about the discoveries they make on their journey. there's many things going on that will change their view on their own "safe" lives within the walls of los angeles forever

Becoming a family | Wanda Maximoff
Tumblr media
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Prompt: "I have a key, it's not breaking in."
Summary: When your best friend gets pregnant and her boyfriend leaves her for it, you step up and help her take care of the baby. A/n: This might be the longest fic I've ever written, but I love it so much. It has a lot of time jumps because it tells a story over the span of like 3-4 years. I hope you all enjoy the read!
masterlist | requests: closed | words: 2050
Wanda came to you first when she found out that she was pregnant. She was scared to tell her boyfriend Vision because they were both only 22 and they had never really talked about the topic of kids yet. You reassured her that whatever would happen, that you would be there to support her through it all.
About a week later you opened you door to your best friend crying on your doorstep. You let her in and comforted her. “He said he is not ready to have kids and then he just left me. Like he broke up with me right after I told him.” You and Wanda had made a deal years ago that you would support each other no matter what choices the other made. But after just hearing he just left your pregnant best friend like that, you told her how you thought he had never treater her right and that she deserves so much better.
You put on one of Wanda’s comfort movies while you got some blankets and order her favorite food. Without communicating it Wanda knew you were letting her stay at your place tonight. Halfway through the movie Wanda paused it and turned to you with tears in her eyes. “I can’t do this alone. I can’t raise a baby on my own.”
“Like I said last week, I will support you through it all. You are not alone, you’ve got me. And it is fully your decision what you’re going to do, but either way I will be there every step of the way.” You try reassuring her. “Thank you, y/n, that means a lot.” She turned back to the TV and played the rest of the movie.
In the following weeks you and Wanda got a lot of books on pregnancy and parenthood. Reading up on everything, since neither one of you knew much on the topic as the closest thing to it you had experienced was babysitting. You also got rid of all of Visions stuff together since it was a heard process for Wanda to do alone.
On one of your days off you picked up a crib and some stuff that would have to be assembled for the nursery. Wanda had decided on some stuff she wanted or would like to have in the nursery. You wanted to surprise her with a few things off her list and get it all set up to take it off of her plate.
With your key for emergencies, you entered her apartment, carried the boxes inside and went to work. You have the crib and a dresser build when you hear Wanda come home. Since the nursery is a separate room in the home, you went to great her, as to not scare her when she hears a sudden noise coming from the room. “Hey Wands, how was work?” You ask when you join her in the living room. She looks at you confused, “Why did you break into my house?” With a chuckle you say, "I have a key, it's not breaking in." While jingling the key in front of you. “But if you’d like the reason to the why part, you need to close your eyes and follow me.”
Wanda closed her eyes, and you led her to the nursery by her hands. “Open them.” You say. She opens then and tears start filling her eyes immediately. It’s the hormones that are making her so emotional, is what she tells you each time she cries. “I love it. You didn’t have to do that.” You shake your head, “I know, but I wanted too. This kid is going to be very loved and that starts with getting their room ready.”
Eight weeks into her pregnancy Wanda has her first doctors appointment. You were joining her and seeing the tiny little baby for the first time. The doctor was doing the ultrasounds, showing on the screen what everything was when all of a sudden he stopped talking and started moving around the transductor around. Wanda met your eyes worriedly, you squeezed her hand while you both waited for the doctor to speak. “There!” He says, pointing to something on the screen. “Do you see that?” When you both nod, still confused to what’s happening he tells you what’s on the screen. “This here is the baby and then here is baby number two. Wanda you are having twins.”
Wanda’s mouth falls open, ‘twins’ keep echoing in her head. “I’ll give you two a moment.” The doctor says and leaves the room. “I guess I should pick up another crib, huh?” You joke, not realizing Wanda is still in shock. “I’m barely convinced I can take care of one baby, how am I going to be able to take care of two?” Wanda says. “What if I moved in? Ill be there to take care of the babies with you.”
After that appointment you and Wanda sat down to see what would be best for the babies. You decided moving into your apartment would be more practical since yours was bigger and therefor had an extra room. And that way Wanda would also not have to be surrounded by the memories of Vision. The next week you started moving Wanda’s stuff into your apartment, with the help with some of your friends and family.
In the following months the house started to feel more like a shared space. Wanda’s room feeling like her own and a mix of both your decoration around the house. You worked together on making a beautiful nursery of the room that had once been your office space. Setting up two cribs, a closet, and a changing table among other decorative pieces. The room was coming along nicely.
A week before the due date a very pregnant Wanda stood in the kitchen looking for something she wanted to eat, while you were doing the final round of baby clothes washing, which you learned was necessary from one of those practical baby books. You just got the laundry from the machine when you heard Wanda call out for you. “Y/n, come here quick!”
You rushed to the kitchen and found Wanda standing there looking at the floor with wide eyes. “My water just broke.” You excitedly said, “Omg it’s happening!” You rushed to the nursery to grab the baby and hospital bag and then led Wanda to the car.
That day Wanda gave birth to two beautiful boys. Their names were Billy and Tommy Maximoff. You were sitting in Wanda’s room at the hospital, making sure she had everything she needed. But all she needed was to have you around. Then a nurse came in with two little beds, “They’re all checked out for now, miss Maximoff, you have two very healthy baby boys.”
When the nurse walked out of the room, you gently picked up one of the babies holding him shortly before handing him over to Wanda and picking up the other to hold yourself. They were perfect. After holding the boys for a bit, you switch and after some more time holding them, you put them back into their little beds. “Are you ready for some visitors, Wands?” You had texted Pietro right before you got into the car and asked him if he could notify the rest of your and Wanda’s friends.
You walked out of the room and into the waiting room where you were met with your friends eagerly waiting to meet the new additions to their lives. “There are two beautiful, healthy baby boys ready to meet you all. And one very proud but tired mom ready for some company.”
The group followed you to the room where you introduced the boy to their new family, “Billy and Tommy these are your aunts and uncles, we have Uncle Pietro, Auntie Nat, Aunt Yelena, Uncle Clint and Aunt Kate and they all can’t wait to meet you.” They had each decided what they wanted to be named and you thought it was adorable. What you didn’t see was Wanda looking at you with adoration in her eyes. She was so thankful for you being here with her, through everything. Natasha noticed the way Wanda had looked your way and made a mental note to ask Wanda about it later.
Bringing the boys home and starting this life with them had all been incredible. Your friends helped out as much as they could. Meaning the boys had their family over very often, Wanda was so appreciative of everyone showing up for her and her boys like this. Everyone made her feel like she truly wasn’t raising the boys alone.
On a Sunday afternoon when you and Yelena were putting the boys away for a nap, Natasha saw her opportunity to ask Wanda about the look she witnessed at the hospital. “So, Wanda, how has living with y/n been so far?” Natasha saw the woman’s eyes light up at the mention of your name, which was all she needed to know that Wanda had feelings for you. “It’s been amazing. It’s great having around more and she is incredible with the boys.” Natasha chuckles, “And you’re in love with her.” Natasha adds. Wanda’s eyes widen, “Shh, she’s right in the room next door.” Natasha smirks, “Interesting response.” Natasha manages to say before you and Yelena walk back into the living room.
Then months later you and Wanda have fully gotten used to a life with two little ones and were enjoying it to the fullest. Billy and Tommy brought a light to your lives, that no one could have prepared you for, the love you felt for these boys like they were your own felt incredible. Wanda’s feelings for you only increased the more she was around you, but she didn’t want to ruin what you guys had now. So, she hadn’t told you about how she feels towards you.
Billy and Tommy had both started saying their first words. Billy’s first word was mommy, which made Wanda overjoyed. And Tommy’s first word he wanted to share with the world was banana, making you both laugh. He must have a favorite food.
A little after the twins their second birthday Wanda was making dinner in the kitchen while watching you play with the boys in the living room. That’s when she heard Tommy say, “Mama, mama, look!” before he did a silly dance. Tommy wasn’t looking to get her attention though. He had called you mama. When you just smiled at the boy and started dancing with him, Wanda knew she had to tell you how she felt.
So, after she had brought the twins to bed, she sat you down. “Can we talk?” She had asked, “Of course, what’s up Wands?” Wanda seemed nervous, which wasn’t like the Wanda you knew. “So, earlier I overheard Tommy call you mama.” You hadn’t realized hearing that had troubled Wanda, “Oh Wanda, I’m sorry. I didn’t know that would bother you, next time I will correct him.”
Wanda put her hand down on your knee, “No, no, that’s not it. Quite the opposite actually.” Wanda’s hand on your knee gave you butterflies in your stomach. “Y/n, you mean everything, and I wouldn’t want to do anything to ruin our friendship. But hearing Tommy say that made me realize that after all these years I just have to tell you, because I want you to be Tommy’s mama and Billy’s of course. Because y/n I love you, and.” You stopped Wanda’s rambling by kissing her. Your hand moved to the nape of her neck, pulling her in closer. When you felt her smile into the kiss, you did the same. When you pulled away for air you said, “I love you too Wanda, and I have since the first month I have known you. I’d love to be Billy and Tommy’s mama, but there’s one question left to ask first. Wands, do you want to be my girlfriend?” Wanda excitedly said yes.
And that’s how you officially became a family after all these years. Though in your hearts you will always count those first two years just the same. You were a family then and you would be a family for the rest of your lives.

I absolutely love the theory that Mike is Henry’s kid. Usually I’d be upset that they made the movie a whole other universe, different from the games, different from the books, but this universe is so captivating. If Henry is Mike’s dad, Henry and William’s families must’ve been close, but that brings up so many questions. If they were family friends, why does Mike not recognize Will at the beginning of the movie? And even more, after he knows Will’s real name and who he is, why does he still not remember? Well I have three theories.
One, the basic “trauma made me forget”. But would it be possible for Mike to COMPLETELY forget a whole person? Not just a whole person, a WHOLE family? Likely, that’s not it.
Two, Will may have changed so much from when they last met that Mike can’t recognize him. It makes sense, we can presume that Mike was the same age the last time he saw Garret AND the last time he saw Will, just a couple days or months apart, and Mike was 12. Now he’s maybe 25 or 27? That’s a pretty big gap of time for someone’s face to change, AND it would make sense that he doesn’t remember Vanessa either. If we combine it with the first theory, maybe there’s something there.
But the last theory I like the most, he knew. At least after Vanessa told him his real name. The reason I think this is because of how he never acts like he never new Will, which would make sense, why would he know a William Afton? He only met a Steve Raglan. As well with what he says after he finds out, “you knew?” Maybe that’s when he’s realizing. Realizing that Vanessa new who Mike was, along with Mike’s family, along with the whole children murder thing. That’s why Will looks shaken when he reads Mike’s last name. But what if his name was really Micheal Emily. I was always weirded out about how Mike never introduces himself with his last name, neither does Abby, neither does aunt Jane. Maybe Mike told Will that his name was Micheal Schmidt, but on the papers, it was really “Micheal Emily”.
I’m thinking maybe after Mike and Abby’s mom died, when their dad left, they became so upset with him that they chose to take their mothers name instead? Another reason I feel this way is because before Will is about to kill Mike, he says, almost sarcastically, “Farewell Micheal Schmidt.” Also, before that he mentions that the animatronics told Will about Abby, meaning he didn’t know about her, that makes sense if the last time the Emily’s saw Will, was before Abby was born. But one last theory, Vanessa has the same airplane that Garret has, maybe he used the same airplane to get Garret to get in the car, or maybe, it was a present, from the Afton’s to the Emily’s
If we add all three theories together, we get a story. Mike was Henry Emily’s kid, Henry did something to make Will angry, Will kills Garret (maybe with Vanessa’s help) along with the others. Mike’s family falls apart, at one point, Abby was born, their mom died and dad left. Feeling betrayed, Mike and Abby took their mom’s last name, but didn’t change it legally. Years later, Mike and ‘Steve’ meet, Mike being too young and too traumatized to remember Will at that point, Will finds out he’s an Emily and sends him to the pizzeria to be killed. Yada yada stuff happens, Mike finds out that the killer of his brother was the killer of other children and a close family friend, everything comes back to him. (in the scene you can almost see tears in his eyes but it might be the lighting lol) And so on and so forth
Anyway this might be a shit theory but I’m kinda proud, we’ll just have to wait for the next movie that’ll come out in 2050

My Fics: Time Travel
A year ago, I was still posting The Traveller, my longest time-travel story.
In that story (103k words), Sherlock travels back from 2050 to 2010 to make sure Moriarty dies and doesn't go on to cause the apocalypse, as the Ministry of Time has predicted. A lonely mission, but he isn't alone. His uncle Mycroft, whom he remembers as an old man, is still young, working in a government office few people ever visit, or even know about. Sherlock will report to him. And then there's the ex-army doctor who saves his life. Sherlock may have been briefed on the rules of his mission, but that doesn't mean his heart won't belong to John Watson.
As Mrs Hudson advises him: "You are the one in the moment, making the choice to play each decision point in a certain way. They chose you because they trust you to improvise, to use your judgement in the moment, even your biases. If they wanted a technician, they would not have given you this kind of freedom."
Go ahead and fall in love, Sherlock. John Watson will always save you.
Feeling a bit of nostalgia for that story. (And endless thanks to @keirgreeneyes for her beta work 💕)
Now that I've written eight stories 😮 featuring time travel, and don't see any end to my obsession with it, I've finally decided to make a series of them on AO3. (See link above.) Eight stories for now, more to come!
My parallel world stories can be found in my Off-Axis Series. My WIP Déjà Vu will belong to that one when complete.
As always, thank you for reading! ❤️

Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung will be voicing the main characters for the upcoming animated film “Lost in Starlight”.
Kim Tae Ri will take on the challenge of voice acting for the first time as Nan Young. Nan Young is an astronaut selected for the fourth Mars exploration project in 2050, who wants to go to Mars to find traces of her scientist mother who failed to return to Earth due to an accident. Hong Kyung will play the role of Jay, a musician who falls in love with Nan Young. After Jay and Nan Young’s first encounter by chance, they reunite again like fate through a turntable which is Nan Young’s mother’s memento. Expectations are high as the two actors participated in the pre-recording and live-action processes, to express the emotions of their characters in richer and deeper ways. Their interpretations of Nan Young and Jay thus deeply influenced the animation process and will make for a heartfelt and nuanced love story. Climax Studio – which has showcased K-content globally with Netflix series "Hellbound", "D.P." and "JUNG_E" – is behind the production of "Lost in Starlight". It is Netflix’s first Korean animated film which will depict the long-distance relationship between astronaut Nan Young and musician Jay. "Lost in Starlight" writer-director is Han Ji Won.

Good day, Sheng I hope you've had a lovely day!
I was curious to know if you had any information on what the TB TOS boys studied and specialized in? Were they awarded with anything?
Hello my lovely anon! I apologize for the delay, but I was out visiting friends until late yesterday. ^^ I'm home again, which means I can dig through my novels and comics to answer this as best I am able!
Of the various sources, the official bios (there's at least 3 versions there of), the TV21 comics, and the Fleetway comics are the ones that are most likely to give the answers. There are also bits and bobs scattered around the various canon sources. Overall, I'm pulling mostly from the Fleetway for this, as it actually went the most into depth for what you're asking and while Fleetway / complete Thunderbirds Story DOES have some continuity / canonicity issues the education and specializations parts overall are solid.
Going in my preferred age order (because there's actually more than one XD )
This got long, so readmore deployed! ^^
Scott:
Given the ages involved, Scott skipped grades to one degree or another, because he seems to have graduated high school at 16-17 rather than 18. (Spoiler Warning: Gordon is the only Tracy that didn't skip grades. TinTin and Brains skip grades too, although Penny did not)
Scott seemingly went to a 'normal' college / university for ~2 years (Fleetway puts it as Tracy University, where Scott specialized in astronautics and got his astronaut wings, which at minimum DOES explain where / when Scott GOT his astronaut wings, which he DOES canonically have as all his official bios mention he is a trained astronaut and he is one of Three's canon pilots with a fair amount of knowledge / skill in space) as he doesn't start Yale until 18
At 18, Scott went to Yale for 2-3 years and finished his formal education at Oxford for 1-2 years (these numbers bounce around a bit in the various bios/mentions - though it being ~4 years in total is constant across all of them) and graduated top of his class - though not valedictorian or salutatorian, simply in the top 10 / top 5 - specializing in aeronautics / aeronautic engineering, mathematics, and navigation. We know he does have SOME education / degree in engineering as he the one that helps in designing / engineering / etc alongside Virgil. We also know he was heavily involved in the design of Thunderbird 1 and 2, with some refs to him being the primary designer on One. Scott definitely has a Bachelors and might have a Masters in one / two / all of his three degrees, but there's no indication that he has a Doctorate in anything. He seems to have had aeronautics / aeronautic engineering as his primary.
All of Scott's bios state that he served in the Air Force right out of College (so he would have joined at 22 to 23 years of age, then would have served 4-6 years). He was an officer, rather than enlisted, although his stated final rank ranges between Captain (of-3) to Colonel (of-6) so you likely can go with what you please there, although Scott IS referred to as a 'commanding officer' in the Air Force, which usually means Major (of-4), Lieutenant Colonel (of-5), or Colonel (of-6) though. We've no idea what his callsign would have been, though some fanon ones I've seen are Flyboy, Ace, Scooter, Falcon and Eagle. I use Mercury myself (Mercury Seven, and it refs his speed AND 'silver tongue'/communication skills)
There's multiple references to Scott serving in 'the War', although what War that is is VERY vague and hard to pinpoint. (Oddly, Fleetway using the 2020s timeline DOES make IDing the war in question easier... With Scott serving in his 20s, that would make the war in Fleetway the Global Conflict / WW3, which took place ~2010 and was how the Global Government / World Government formed.) For the most common 2060s timeline, it's really unclear what 'war' Scott would have been fighting in in the 2050s. outside of the confusion of 'what war', Scott was at minimum an 'ace' (5 kills in aerial combat / dogfighting), might have been an 'ace ace' (25+ kills) although that one MIGHT be a misprint where the word ace was accidently doubled, and there is a passing reference in either the novels or comics (I forget which ^^;; ) to him being 'War Ace', which is a title awarded to the 'best pilot / most skilled ace' in a war. So 'War Ace' is a potential accomplishment for him
He is officially a 'test pilot', and can fly pretty much anything / everything. It's mentioned he CAN fly the Tiger Moth so he can mange bi-planes, he apparently flew a stunt plane (so propeller), he's helicopter (and apparently helijet) certified, and he's flown a wide array of jets, rocket-planes, and space craft. (He has a pilot's license, helicopter / helijet license, and astropilot license). He has a Class-D (standard driver's) license, and he apparently knows how to drive a motorcycle so a Class-M license too. He might have a Class-B (farming equipment) license, and would have had a military license that functioned as a CBL (commercial) Class A/B/C license and might have gone through the work to get that again as a civilian. We do see Scott driving heavy equipment and the like when not 'IR' so he might have the commercial license. He has a non-commercial boating license, and miiiiight have a civilian submarine-craft license. Seems to have a diving license. Definitely has a sky-diving and paragliding license.
Scott somehow was given the Medal of Valor and quite possibly Medal of Honor as well. both are EXTREMLY difficult to achieve medals, almost always only given out in wartime, and we never are told what he did to achieve them
Scott retired in his 'late 20s' (probably around 28) 'with honors', which would mean an Honorable Discharge. That's right about when IR would be in the final set up stages / Tracy Island buildings and silos being built and the like.
It's strongly implied in the comics that Scott was a POW at some point, but nothing officially states it flat out. There's a vague refence to him having been shot down at some point in the comics as well. These have lead to the widespread fanon that Scott was a POW, usually in Bereznik. If this is the case, Scott would have a Purple Heart Medal and a Prisoner of War Medal. It also would explain why no one finds it odd that he retired as young / early as he did.
John:
Rather like Scott, John seems to have skipped grades, as he graduates High School at ~15 years of age (there's a VAGUE hint in TV21 that it might have been as low as 14. It's also implied to have been that low in Fleetway because John is only around 21 when he starts at Tracy University, AFTER finishing 6 years at Harvard).
While John has always been deeply interested in manned space flight and the heavens in general, his real passion (and career) is canonically in communications.
John starts attending Harvard University, and graduates as Valedictorian (he's top of his class, but there's a mention to him giving a speech at his graduation, which usually goes to Valedictorian) getting his degree in electronics and laser communications / communications in general. Since he wrote a thesis, he must have gotten a doctorate in ONE of these fields (likely communications)
John was HEAVILY involved in the design / building of IRs communications gear and might even have been the lead in it. both the 'listening in' and the 'communicating between each other' parts. He also seemingly was very heavily involved in the designing of TB5
He created a laser communications device that was 'revolutionary' and won him awards and accolades. (An achievement that was later stolen by Lt. Green in his bio... Spectrum bios had a VERY bad habit of stealing accomplishments of previously existing characters. In further example, Green also stole 'best communications officer / specialist WASP has ever had' from Phones, Harmony stole 'best pilot alive' from Scott, Grey stole 'back messed up and 4 months in hospital after a sub/high speed boat crash from Gordon AND 'first captain of the Stingray' from Troy, and Rhapsody stole quite a few of Penny's spy achievements)
John also located a previously unknown quasar, which became known as the Tracy Quasar System.
He's published at minimum 4 astronomy and outer-space textbooks, and at least 1 book on communications
After getting a doctorate in ~6 years at Harvard at 20-21 years of age, John then got his astronaut wings / became an astronaut. Fleetway puts him at Tracy University for this as well. (He might have been Valedictorian again, as he's referred to as being such for his astronaut training in... Countdown? I legit forget where the ref is. There's an implication that John was Valedictorian more than once, basically). All of the Tracys are genius level smart, but John seems to be the brightest star of them all
John worked on a civilian (or at least non-military) space station / space program for at least a few years. What group and station is debatable. It could be NASA, the World Space Program, etc. He further could have been on the International Space Station, Freedom Station, etc. The only things off the table are military groups, and he CAN'T have served in the World Space Patrol (Fireball XL5)
John has his pilot's license and space-pilot / astropilot license. He likely has a rocket-plane license (ie: a atmospheric craft that can escape the atmosphere and is space capable). He MIGHT have a helijet license, but he doesn't have a helicopter license. He has a Class-D (standard driver's) license, and he apparently knows how to drive a motorcycle so a Class-M license too. He might have a Class-B (farming equipment) license. He has a non-commerical boating license, and miiiiight have a civilian submarine-craft license. Seems to have diving license. Might have a sky-diving and paragliding license.
John also is a highly skilled athlete, having achieved many awards and records. We only know about him being involved in running, but WHAT KIND of running varies between sprinting (rare), long-distance (more commonly reffed) and cross-country (most commonly reffed), or trail or obstacle course (middling)
I'm not sure how John left his space career / stopped working on the space station without attracting attention, oddly he's the ONLY one that doesn't have an easy excuse for joining IR! Scott apparently had SOMETHING happen that gave him an honorable discharge and had no one questioning him retiring from the Air Force, Virgil apparently intended to work as an engineer FOR Jeff's company once he graduated, Gordon had the hydrofoil crash and an Honorable or Medical Discharge from WASP, and Alan was only 19 and hadn't really STARTED a career. TinTin either was just finishing her University education and/or like Virgil was working for Jeff's company as an engineer. Brains started working for Jeff at his company while Brains was still in college. John's the only one with a career outside of Jeff's company that DOESN'T have a coinvent 'stop working there' excuse.
Virgil:
continuing the running theme, Virgil seems to have skipped grades - more than Scott did, but less than John, graduating High School at 15-16.
Virgil started higher education at 16 at Denver School for Advanced Technology, but he's sometimes put in Yale or another Tech school. What his degree was varies. Fleetway has it as 'Advanced Technology', but he's also had Engineering / Nuclear Engineering listed in his official bios. He usually took art classes and music classes, and sometimes he has a degree in art or music mentioned, so he likely minored in art and/or music alongside his Advanced Technology / engineering major. He seems to have graduated at 20-21 with a Masters in Tech/Engineering and a Bachelors in art/music. There's no refences at all to him having a doctorate (only John and Brains have that), and while he seems to have been 'top of his class', there's no indication he was Valedictorian or Salutatorian. So, like Scott he would have been in the top 10 or top 5, but not the number 1 or 2 slots.
Fleetway claims that Virgil was on the Denver Football team and was a good player on it, but that is the only reference to it or sports in general. Something to remember is that Virgil is actually NOT the heaviest / buffiest in build of the brothers in TOS. He's well built, but Scott and Alan are both heavier /buffer in build than he is, as is his father. Virgil isn't LEAN, but he'd be a Middleweight, built sort of like Tony or tom Cruise or the like. Muscled, but not a brick house. Scott is consistantly referred to as 'powerful' in build, and is drawn as heavier / bulkier in muscles than Virgil. Heavyweight class or something like the traditional 'superman' build like Cavill or the like. Alan and Jeff are a bit more powerful / bulky in build than Scott, so upper end of the Heavyweight. Not modern day Body builder / the Hulk bulk, but say Hulk Hogan, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold in Terminator / Predator type build. Gordon is about Virgil's build / a swimmer's build. John is lean /lithe but not lanky. Built like a runner.
Virgil HAS sold art and had it on display at galleries, possibly even at a museum or two, which is quite the accomplishment. He's also played music semi-professionally, although I can't find or recall an refences to him winning awards or contests in music.
Like John, Virgil got his astronaut wings / went to a second school after his primary (Fleetway again puts this as Tracy University) and he seems to have gone to this second school when he was ~21. Fleetway has a fun incident where, while at Tracy U, he used his advanced technology degree to service a faulty space capsule during a training space-flight.
So far as I can tell, Virgil's plan was to graduate and work for Tracy Tech / Tracy Industries / whatever version of the MULTIPLE names that Jeff's company has you'd like to use XD upon graduation. He likely DOES officially work as an engineer for his Dad's company (his brothers as well) on top of IR duties.
Given when IR got started (September of 2065) and Virgil's age AND his graduation date(s), Virgil would have been working at Jeff's company for at least a couple of years before IR got started.
He has a Class-D (standard driver's) license, but no Class-M / motorcyle that we're aware of. He ABSOLUTELY has a Class-B (farming equipment) license, and has a CBL (commercial) Class A/B/C license. We know he has a pilot's license. While he has his astronaut wings, he might not have an astropilot license, but he would at least he have a 'limited' one - equivalent of a 'student driver' where he can be a co-pilot but not a solo. He has a helicopter and helijet license. Seems to have both a commerical and non-commerical boating license. Seems to have a civilian submarine craft license. Might have a diving license. Probably has a skydiving and paragliding license.
Gordon:
Only one of the brothers NOT to skip grades, as he goes straight from High School to WASP Academy at ~18.
Gordon was showing skill in swimming at only 3 years of age, and joined a professional swim team as early as possible (13 or so, though he would have been on school swim teams / training prior to that)
Gordon was one of, if not the, fastest freestyle swimmers in his prime. We know he won Gold in the Olympics for the Butterfly Stroke at 16 (Considering his birthyear, he might actually have been 17 given the years the Olympics fall on). We know he also got other awards / medals, but we can take it as fact that his only Olympic Gold was this. He might have gotten Silver and Bronze in other races. However given the 4 year gaps, this would have been the ONLY Olympics Gordon took part in - he would have been too young for the previous, and the ones after would be either after his hyrdofoil accident or IR.
Gordon went from high school straight into WASP. He probably was 18, buuuuuuuut there are hints that Gordon might have served in whatever War Scott and Phones and Troy and others in that age group fought in, so Gordon MIGHT have been able to sign up for WASP at 17 and basically before he graduated high school. To quickly explain, while you can sign up for the military at 17 with a guardian's permission for most branches… submarine service (and thus WASP) is not one of them, as it's strictly volunteer and 18+. You have to VOLUNTEER to be on a sub, and outside of wartimes you must be 18 or older. Thus IF, and only if, there was a 'War' on, Gordon could have joined WASP at 17.
Gordon was put in command of a bathyscape, which means he was an officer. You usually have to be 19 to become an officer / begin officer training BUT you can start at 18 during wartimes so... Gordon would have started his officer training at 18-19 and become an officer at 19-20. We've no mention of what rank Gordon was at his retirement, but to command a submarine, even a bathyscape, he has to have been a Lieutenant-Commander (of-3) minimum, but he can't have been more than a Captain (of-5) as he wasn't part of the admiralty. I make him a Commander (of-4) because I am an old geek woman and I love him having the rank level of 4 XD
While in WASP, Gordon came up with a revolutionary and unique underwater breathing apparatus... it's implied that the scuba gear we see used in Stingray are the ones that Gordon designed. Gordon later improved these for IR.
Gordon was in a high speed hyrdofoil crash (I know it says 400 mph, but I honestly would prefer it to have been going FAR slower... 400 km/h maybe XD ) that almost killed him, injured his back, and left him in a WASP hospital for 4 months (note that is his FULL TIME in the hospital, including his initial / in hospital Physical Therapy). The crash happened VERY recently, btw, like two years MAX before the pilot episode, but no less than a year and a half prior to the pilot, so it would have happened no earlier than Sept 2063 and no later than Mar 2064. A lot of fans give him lingering physical issues from this (heck I'm one of them), BUT it's important to remember that we see Gordon getting up to fairly normal physical activities in all canon material (even Fleetway where his accident is directly mentioned / shown), so he is not HEAVILY impacted by this. If he has chronic pain, it's mild for instance. If he throws his back out on occasion, it's rare and he recovers quickly, etc.
He has a military boating and submarine license, as well as a non-commercial boating license and civilian submarine-craft license. he miiiiiight have a commercial boating license, but he's never shown with commercial craft so *shrug emoji*. he ABSOLUTELY has a diving license. He has a Class-D (standard driver's) license. He might have a Class-B (farming equipment) license, and would have had a military license that functioned as a CBL (commercial) Class A/B/C license and might have gone through the work to get that again as a civilian. Likely has a piloting license, might have a helicopter and helijet license.
Alan:
Alan was interested in both car racing and space from a young age (and unlike TaG, it looks like he actually had a stronger interest in CARS than in rockets). He seems to have skipped grades, as he was in college by 15 years of age as he was far enough into his astronaut training to be in space at 16 as one of Alan's accomplishments is that he is the youngest astronaut / lunarnaut known, having been either in space OR on the moon (or at minimum he got his astronaut wings) at only 16 years of age AND he still holds the record for highest number of passes and holds the current record for graduating in record time.
It looks like Alan went first to college for his astronaut wings (Fleetway has it as Tracy University) and likely got a Bachelors, graduating at 16 years of age.
He then went to another school (Fleetway lists Colorado Tech / Denver Tech) and got a Masters at 17 (maaaaybe 18). WHAT he got it in varies wildly across canon sources though. He's got astronatical engineering, space travel, CAR engineering / design, and communications listed. So likely pick and choose as ye please. I personally go for Vehicular (car) and astronautical engineering. To be totally honest, I'd replace the Tech school with a Racing Academy and have it where Alan got a Bachelors in astronatical engineering at Tracy University at 16, and a second Bachelors in Vehicular Engineering & Design at a Racing School at 17, then went from there to join the World Space Patrol Astopilot Academy for 1-2 years before going back to his racing career for the 1-2 years before he joins IR
Alan then joined the World Astronaut Patrol Academy... aka the military branch that Fireball XL5 is part of. Alan was in the Astropilot program, but for unknown reasons in canon, he left WSP / Astropilot program before graduating when he was still 18. To solve this issue, I replaced one of the astronovices in the Fireball comic story 'The Astronovices' with Alan, as that would have given him a General or Dishonorable Discharge. Alan DOES hold the record for youngest Astronovice as he joined at ~17 or so, and he apparently was pretty likely to be one of the few to pass the grueling requirements and graduate (seriously, out of an intake of 200 potentials, less that 25 graduate for each 2-3 year training cycle).
Alan started his racing career while still in college, likely starting driving at 16-17 as it's said he's been racing for 'a few years' when he wins Pararola at 19/20. He probably paused the racing career for the 1-2 years he was in the Astronovice program, then resumed it at 18 when he left WSP (for whatever reason he DID leave). He apparently has a few wins / medals in racing under his belt and left a successful racing career to join IR, although he WAS young enough (only 19) that him deciding to join Jeff's company as a vehicle engineer who occasionally tests the vehicles the company makes likely wouldn't draw too much attention. (Alan was a 'champion' race driver and officially a car designer by the time he joined IR at 19.)
He ABSOLUTELY has a Class-D (standard driver's) license, and seemingly has a Class-M / motorcyle, and obviously has a SCCA (racing) license. He might have a Class-B (farming equipment) license, but that's debatable. We know he has a pilot's license. He might have a helicopter license, but we never once see him piloting a helicopter. He's a bit more likely to have his helijet license. He ABSOLUTELY has an astropilot license, even if he didn't get the military / Fireball craft license. Seems to have a non-commerical boating license and a civilian submarine craft license. Has a diving license. Probably has a skydiving and paragliding license. Certainly has a rocket-plane (aka astmospheric craft that can escape gravitational pull and is space capable) license.
If anyone wants, I'll do these for TinTin, Brains and Penny - I'll even try it for Jeff, Kyrano, and Grandma Tracy, although we have FAR less to go on for them

Prompts: Christmas past Christmas cracker jokes Christmas paint job on the ‘birds
I’ll leave it up to you to work out which prompt I concentrated on!  I hope I did it justice!!
Notes:  I don’t know anything about patchwork quilting, so I hope that part makes sense. Cracker prizes are based on my own winnings as a kid, but I hope in the 2050s or 2060s they won’t be made of flimsy plastic!
The Stories They Hold
Every Christmas Scott insists that he is the one to fetch all the decorations from the storage locker where they spend most of the year tucked away.  On the rare occasions when MAX is unavailable to help transport everything up to the lounge, where Virgil and Brains will inevitably be securing the tree, each box and bag full of fragile cargo is carefully transferred to a cart and wheeled to the elevator.
It’s so different from collecting the boxes from the attic back at the old house, with the winter sunbeams through the slanted windows catching the dust in a golden glow, and the constant reminders to be careful as he passed each container down to waiting hands below.  But many of the contents of those boxes have remained the same, even after the passing of many years.
Scott enjoys the holiday traditions that the family has continued to uphold.  In fact, if he thinks about it, perhaps he was one of the driving forces behind a few of those traditions.  Particularly the insistence that the whole family, Kayo and Brains (and MAX) included, make the effort to decorate the tree and the Villa all together.
Of course, the occasional rescue would dash their plans, but most years they managed to have everyone play a part in placing all the decorations, old and new, where they needed to go.  Scott knew each person had their favourite ornaments, and often fond memories to go with them.
His own favourites were the “special” decorations – the commemorative ones that marked milestones.  There was one for each of them.  For the brothers these were of the “Baby’s First Christmas” variety, with the year of birth etched into the design somewhere, and usually the name of the relevant brother as well.  There was an ornament to mark Kayo’s first Christmas with the Tracys, and another for Brains, and even a teeny tiny MAX.  Grandma’s milestone decoration was a candle holder designed and made by Grandpa Grant from artfully twisted fencing wire and a few scrap parts into a star-shaped cage that sat on the mantlepiece.
Every year Scott personally hands each of these special ornaments to the relevant member of his family so they can hang them on the tree, or set them in an appropriately prominent place for display.
The baby decoration with his name on it is silver with little blue gems decorating the points of the snowflake design, and a darker blue ribbon looped through the top for hanging.  The silver scroll containing the engraved “Scott’s First Christmas 2034” wound between the bottom two points like a flowing ribbon.  Scott particularly loved how well it matched with the pair of bells commemorating their parents’ first Christmas as a married couple.
This one is silver with royal blue acrylic glazed embellishments and a pale blue ribbon.  The bells dangle and even make the slightest tinkling noise as they do.  The only engraving, at the top of the housing for the bells, is the year the marriage took place.  Scott can still remember years where his parents had smiled all doe-eyed at each other while hanging it together on a prominent tree branch.  And later years where his misty-eyed Dad had hung it solo, a sadder smile on his lips.
***
This year Virgil is finally completing the last in a set he’s been slowly adding to the tree for a number of years.  It all started with the scale model of Shadow that had been part of the production process, which inspired him to make tiny model Thunderbirds as tree ornaments.  That first year he’d managed to create an even smaller scaled model of Thunderbird S, as well as matching scaled Thunderbird 4, and a Thunderbird 2 model that was technically smaller in scale, but looked comparable in size beside the other two before running out of time to make more.  Each of them was as accurate as he could make them, but with a few festive touches added here and there in the extra sparkly paintwork.
Thunderbirds 1 and 3 followed the year after, and he now has a completed FAB 1 on his workbench ready for Lady Penelope and Parker to add to the tree when they arrive at Tracy Island in a few days.  But the one that has taken him the longest, and caused the most frustrated cursing is the miniature Thunderbird 5 that has finally come together without any of the tiny appendages breaking.
As he applies the finishing touches to the painted details he finds himself remembering so many long-ago Christmases making decorations with his Mom and brothers.  Sometimes it had been paper chains and fold-and-cut snowflakes, other years it was popcorn garlands and shortbread cookies (or gingerbread ones, or sugar cookies) “painted” with coloured Royal Icing.
His head shakes a little at the memory of younger brothers getting frustrated, or losing interest and drifting away from the kitchen table leaving just him and Mom as the last two left finishing the crafting of hand-made ornaments.  None of those crafty decorations had survived this long – they were never really meant to.  But the drive to make his own Christmas decorations had never left, and he now knew how to make things out of much more permanent materials.
He hadn’t really thought much about it before, but Virgil was sure this little tradition he’d fallen into was only partly due to his generally creative nature and mostly a way of connecting back to those happy memories of crafting and chaos with brothers, and quiet moments with Mom.  It didn’t feel like Christmas to him without a festive creative project to work on in weeks leading into the holiday.
The last thing to add to his Five ornament was a tiny little VT signature.  It was one of two things that Mom had always insisted on for all the decorations they made, and he could still hear the ghost of her voice whispering, “Always put love into to the making, then sign your name with pride.”
***
John knows this is the right box, knows exactly what he will find under the protective layer of tissue paper, but even so the moment he lays eyes on the Christmas tree skirt the memory hits him and wraps itself around his heart.  A vivid memory of Mom kneeling at the base of the tree absently smoothing her hand over the surface of the quilted skirt with a warm but far-away smile on her face.
When he’d asked her what she was thinking about she had beckoned him over to sit beside her.  She didn’t speak for a moment, as though she was working out how to explain something a little bit complicated.  Eventually she had explained that she was feeling the love in the stitches.  He didn’t understand and must have pulled a face that obviously said so, which made her laugh before explaining further.
She pointed out every patchwork star and tree and snowflake in the design as she relayed to him the way her own mother had told her that the beloved Christmas tree skirt was handmade by her grandmother – John’s great grandmother.  It had been a gift lovingly sewn and given to her parents “for Lucille’s first Christmas.”  And though she couldn’t remember her grandma, she could remember the way her mother had got all misty-eyed explaining how much time and care Grandma had put into making this gift, and how much she adored her baby grand-daughter.
Even at that young age John had been able to see what his Mom meant about the emotion that was contained within this one decoration.  A great deal of care had obviously gone into painstakingly sorting all the little pieces and stitching them together so precisely.  And it was very evident that the skirt had been lovingly cared for ever since – kept clean and fresh, tiny tears repaired, fastenings re-attached.  He saw the beauty in the way the small geometric shapes combined to make the bigger shapes of the overall design, and the way the different patterns and colours in each piece of fabric worked together to blend or contrast with the pieces around them.  But the real beauty was in the way looking at it, and touching it could spark memories of people who were now long gone, and connect him somehow with them.
Mom had said her grandma died when she was very young, and her own parents were sadly gone by the time John shared this moment with her, but she said it warmed her heart to know so much of their love remained here in so many ways.  Especially at Christmas when we have all these lovely little reminders left they behind.
He knew his brothers may not fully understand it, but John made a point of always dressing the tree with the patchwork skirt each year.  Taking his time to check over the fabric, the stitching, the colours and patterns as he did so.
Over the years he had needed to make a few repairs here and there, adding his own love into the stitches.  He’d had to learn about the art of quilting, and now had a greater appreciation for the effort and skill that went into finding the right type of fabric, in the right colour, with a suitable pattern, cutting it into the right shape, and with the weave in the right direction, and then keeping the stitches neat and even.
Kneeling at the base of the tree, smoothing his hands over the surface of the skirt he’s just carefully fastened in place, he smiles and wonders if his brothers know about his sewing skills.  His stitches lovingly intertwined with those of an ancestor he never got to meet, but whose love is still visible in her handicraft and the fond memories it sparked.
***
Of course, Gordon doesn’t like to confine himself to just one favourite decoration.  He has multiple favourites, all with a marine theme, and all handmade.  Not by his own hands though.  He didn’t think he really had the patience or the knack, but he did appreciate the talents of others. Four of these ornaments are his most favourite of all.
He remembers the annual craft sessions with Mom, but not with exactly the same fondness that Virgil does.  One year he had complained about painting pinecones and asked why they couldn’t paint seashells instead.  It was suggested that perhaps children who lived closer to the sea might make their Christmas decorations that way, especially in Southern Hemisphere countries where Christmas was celebrated in summer.  He was also reminded that in their land-locked state seashells were in short supply and pinecones were easier to get hold of.
Apparently Virgil hadn’t forgotten that little episode, and for their first Christmas on Tracy Island he had gifted Gordon a set of three seashells.  Each one sat in the display box “pretty side up” displaying either the soft pastel colouring of the outside, or the pearlescent inside, and had a little hole punched through and a ribbon attached for hanging on the tree.  He had loved them immediately, but when he picked up the first one he discovered their true beauty.
The other side of each shell had been painted with the most wonderful tropical landscapes, using a palette of colours based on the natural hues in the shells, and with little festive hints in the tiny details.  The delicate little paintings were so exquisite he had not been able to express in words how much he adored his gift.  He had simply launched at his big brother and wrapped him in a fierce squid-hug.
These three decorations provided the perfect accompaniment for his fourth most beloved tree ornament – a carved, wooden sea-star.  Grandpa Grant had made it for him one Christmas while Gordon had sat watching in stunned fascination.
He knew Grandpa had carved ornaments for each of his brothers, and some to give to friends or to donate to the annual community displays in the town square, but he’d never before seen anyone turn a little block of wood into something new.  As he’d sat beside his Grandpa on the porch, a growing pile of wood shavings at their feet, he’d been transfixed by the transformation taking place in those sun-browned, wrinkly hands.  That little block of wood became a quite realistic looking creature that would seem totally at home in a little rock pool somewhere.
Gordon loved Grandpa’s sea-star so much he had petitioned for it to be the star that topped the tree several years in a row.  He was denied on the grounds that it was too small.  That didn’t stop Gordon from making it a tradition to try and get the little carved sea-star as high up on the tree as possible each year, and taking great joy in putting it as high as he could reach.
This year he’d managed to get it almost a full six feet high, and he hadn’t used anything to stand on or increase his reach.  That would be cheating.
***
Gordon also had a hand in the creation of Kayo’s most treasured tree ornament.  The decoration itself is fairly ordinary – a red keepsake bauble with a pattern of tiny gold stars and trees, and a gold stripe around the middle where the hinge and clasp were hidden.  It wasn’t the bauble that she loved, but the little treasures she kept inside.  A collection that had been accumulating since the very first Christmas she’d spent with the Tracy family.
Back then she had been a shy, quiet little girl, unused to the noise and bluster of such a large family in the same space all at once.  The boys themselves, and their parents and grandparents, had been friendly and welcoming, but they were loud and always moving.  Even around the dinner table.  So, she had sat quietly throughout the meal, just watching and listening and trying to take it all in.
Then, after the main meal was done but before dessert, the crackers came out.  She watched the Tracys pair up and pull at the coloured paper tubes until they came apart with a little bang.  Thin paper crowns were placed on the heads of the “winners” of the tiny prizes of dice and moustache combs and hair clips . . . and tiny slips of paper were unfurled.
She hadn’t encountered the tradition of terrible jokes inside Christmas crackers before.  As each one was read out the grown-ups mostly groaned, the kids would often giggle, and Kayo had found a smile spreading across her face at the silliness, and the absolute joy around the table.
She’d shared a cracker with her father and won her own crown and a tiny star shaped charm, and had the chance to read out her own mildly amusing joke.
Why has Santa been banned from sooty chimneys? Carbon footprints.
She’d shared another cracker with Gordon and lost, but the joke – read by Virgil because the small print and fancy font were difficult for a six-year-old – made her laugh heartily.
What do you get if Santa forgets to wear his underpants? Saint Knickerless.
A little later that day, when the table was being cleared, Gordon had approached her with a handful of slips of paper.
“Here.  So you can always have them to make you smile and laugh.”
She’d been surprised at first, not knowing what else to do but accept the gift and shove them in her pocket. There they had remained until later that night as she was getting ready for bed.  Kayo had pulled the half-dozen slips of paper out and did indeed smile at the memory of all the fun, and the kindness behind the giving of the gift.  She had kept them ever since, and added her favourite joke from every year.
Her collection now included gems like:
What do you call an old snowman? Water.
Who hides in the bakery at Christmas? A mince spy.
What do you call a penguin in the Sahara Desert? Lost.
What do you get if you put a bell on a skunk? Jingle smells.
How did Darth Vader know what Luke Skywalker got him for Christmas? He felt his presents.
What do you call a polar bear wearing earmuffs? Anything you like.  He can’t hear you.
What do you call a snowman with a sixpack? An abdominal snowman.
Why was the snowman looking through the carrots? He was picking his nose.
She hangs her ornament on the tree, not far from Thunderbird Shadow, and reflects on how lucky she is to be part of this family and share in simple joys like bad jokes around the dinner table.  She wonders whose terrible Christmas cracker joke will make it into the bauble this year.
***
Alan can remember so many happy moments from Christmases when he was little.  All involving his brothers, many with his Dad as well. He remembers some very frustrating moments around the holiday too – not getting the present he had so desperately wanted, or worse still, a brother getting the gift he wanted instead!  Not being allowed to open presents before everyone was awake.  Toys being damaged or lost before the day had ended . . .
But his strongest early memories of Christmas are of Dad lifting him up to place the star on the top of the tree. Apparently it had been a tradition since Scott was little, but old enough to manage the task.  Since then tradition dictated that youngest Tracy able to do so was the one who got to put the star on the tree.  The job had been Alan’s since he was three years old and he had no plans to give it up any time soon.
They had been through three or four different stars since then, and for a brief period the tree had been topped by an angel instead, but Alan couldn’t recall why.  In any case the decoration for the top of the tree was his favourite, because he had the honour of placing that final piece in place.  Plus he liked the teamwork aspect.
Scott had taken over lifting duty around the time Alan was five or six.  That was the Christmas before Scott went off to the Academy, and since he had the height and, in their father’s words, the “military bearing” to manage it, as well as the desire to have as many bonding moments with each brother as possible, Dad had relinquished that part of the job to him.
When the family moved to the island things had become a little trickier.  Now they had room for a much taller tree, and Alan was getting bigger.  Heavier.  That first year there had been failed attempts with lifts from both Dad and Scott, while Virgil and John had whispered to each other as they watched the proceedings.  Quite obviously a new technique was required – couldn’t get high enough with the traditional lifting method, couldn’t get close enough sitting on shoulders . . .
At Virgil’s suggestion the patriarch and the eldest had finally stepped aside for John to try.  There was brief discussion about John having no better (or worse) chance than those who had already tried, because he was much the same height, but Virgil smiled and told them to just wait and see.
John crouched a little and Virgil lifted Alan so he could stand on John’s shoulders and steadied him there as John took firm hold of Alan’s ankles and straightened to his full height.  Virgil had then acted as their spotter, standing ready in case of any wobbles.  Or worse.  But there had been no wobbles.  John’s grip had remained firm and Alan had felt on top of the world reaching out to the top of that giant tree to place the glittering star.
This technique should have continued to work just fine, but after the accident there was a mood change. That first Christmas without Dad, Scott had dared to suggest they just use a ladder to reach the top of the tree, but had quickly retracted the suggestion when he’d seen the crestfallen look on Alan’s face.
Gordon had started asking Brains if they could rig some kind of contraption – Mission Impossible style – where Alan could be suspended from the ceiling.  But Virgil had other ideas and whispered them in Alan’s ear.  It was an interesting plan for Mr Safety-First to have come up with, but Alan was excited to try it, and had full trust in Virgil’s heavy lifting muscles and past gymnast expertise.
The conversation amongst the rest of the family had died down as Alan and Virgil went running up the stairs to the mezzanine level and Scott had asked where they were going.  Without a word, they approached the railing as close as they could get to the top of the tree.
Everyone had watched in slightly terrified awe as Virgil hoisted Alan up onto his left shoulder, sitting so Virgil could wrap his left arm firmly around Alan’s legs to hold him in place.  Virgil raised his right hand above his head to hold Alan’s right hand, then leaned out over the railing so Alan’s outstretched left hand could snag the top of the tree and secure the star in place.
That manoeuvre only became easier over the next few years as Alan’s height increased, and thinking about it now Alan considers it to be kind of fitting that the brother who’s had the least amount of Christmases as star placer is now the one with the most years as lifting assistant.  He knows that Scott, and possibly John would prefer a less risky method of reaching the top of the tree, but they won’t say anything.  Virgil’s grip is as firm and dependable as ever, and Alan still feels on top of the world being held aloft to uphold the tradition.
***
For so many years Jeff had not had any reliable way of measuring when Christmas was.  He had kept his watch wound, but couldn’t be sure his count of days or months, let alone years was accurate.  But even if he had known exactly when each Christmas fell, he would not have felt much like celebrating.  The holiday had always been very much a family affair, and alone, so far away from them it could never be a true Christmas without them, whatever the date.
But, out there he had often turned to his memories of past Christmases.  The traditions old and new, the treasure and the trash, the tears and tantrums and general chaos, but mostly the love and laughter.  His heart had ached for his boys, but the memories kept him going, holding on, fighting to find a way back.
And now here he was sitting contentedly on his recliner in the sunken lounge watching, listening, making the odd suggestion as his nearest and dearest decorated the tree.  He laughed at their antics, tried not to chuckle too much at their banter, and felt his heart swell with pride at the way they all worked together.
“Here, Dad.”  Scott was beside him, holding out the pair of silver bells and smiling a little uncertainly.  “It’s your turn.  You should do this one.”
He needed to lean on Scott a little to get out of the chair, but once on his feet he managed the walk to the tree unassisted. Up close he took in the details of many familiar old decorations, all hung and placed just so with great care. His hand was a little shaky reaching out to hang the bells, and he wished he still had Lucy’s hand on his like in those early years.
Stepping back to admire the fully decorated tree, he glanced over to where his mother stood with Kayo and Brains over by the piano, and spotted his father’s wire star.  His boys gathered around him, admiring their handiwork, bringing his attention back to the tree and it’s glittering decorations.
If only these old ornaments could talk.  Not just trinkets and keepsakes, but ghosts of Christmases past. The memories, the love, the stories they hold . . .

Spring 2050
Spring morning came with the sun peeking through the curtains, awakening Frank Adler. Rubbing his eyes, he saw the door to his room open and saw his nurse, Robin, come in. He smiled warmly as she helped him up from the bed. Robin opened the curtains while Frank stretched his old body.
Frank looked outside and smiled. Even at the age of 84 years, he still feels young at times.
“It’s a beautiful day today, Robin,” Frank said as he headed to grab his robe.
“It is, isn’t it? Spring is finally here. Was there anything else you needed?” Robin asked.
Frank gave a curt nod, and the nurse excused herself to finish her rounds at the home.
**
Frank got himself ready for the day and grabbed his book from the nightstand next to him. Before heading out, he looked at the framed photo and smiled.
Heading down to the dining hall, he went to take his usual seat in the sunroom. He placed his plate down, consisting of scrambled eggs, seasonal fruit, turkey bacon, and toast. Placing his book down, he took a sip of his black coffee. While he ate, a familiar voice floated to his ears and Frank smiled. He looked up and there she was.
There stood the most beautiful lady he’d ever laid his eyes on.
“Good morning, Nurse Betty,” Frank said. The kind nurse smiled as she helped the woman take a seat. She placed the plate down and scooted her chair in. The woman looked at Frank in confusion.
“Betty? Who is this?” The woman asked. Even if it hurt, Frank smiled.
“Rose, this is your friend Franklin.” The nurse replied.
“Franklin? I don’t know anyone with that name.” Rose said.
Frank smiled again and leaned back into his seat.
“He reads to you, Rose. You like books and stories.” Betty said.
Rose raised the fork to her mouth, “What is this story about?”
Frank smiled, “It’s a love story. Would you like to hear it?”
The old woman nodded silently, and Frank opened the book and began to read aloud, “Once upon a time…”

summary: In the eve of 2050, Spider-Woman is New York’s vigilante trying to maintain order in a revolting society, soon to collapse. The only reason to keep going is the hope for change, as the darkest hour is just before the dawn, but an unexpected turn of events will result in more than just New York to watch over.

Chapter 4
She turned and tilted her head at the sight of another Spider-Man in a pink robe and an empty baby carrier. "Don't freak her out like that Miguel, she'll run away from us!" The Spider-Man opened his arms as he chuckled trying to lighten the mood. He rested a hand on her shoulder "Don't worry, most of us aren't like him. I'm Peter, but I'm sure you guessed that.. Wow, you really are on the tall side, kinda' like Jess, huh Miguel?" Miguel sighed behind them, shaking his head in a theatric performance of exhaustion as he jumped up into the platform that had descended from the ceiling earlier. She introduced herself without opening up too much, trying to shake off the commotion of the sole idea of the canon itself. Behind Peter followed other Spider-People who gathered around her, checking out her suit and asking her all sorts of questions about her dimension and how she ended up there. She was soon warmed up by the feeling of their kind welcome, and a part of her felt very comforted by the existence of a place like the Spider-Society, where there was thousands of people who understood what being her felt like. Despite the uncanny nature of being united by being forced to live a series of events that more or less made them all the same person, it felt good to know she wasn't the only Spider. While she leaned more on the introvert side, she was very friendly and welcoming to those who approached, even having a sense of humor if one teased it out of her. As she held trivial dialogue and received more information that Miguel skipped mentioning about being a member of the Spider-Society, she analyzed everybody thoroughly, gathering information on their character based on how they composed themselves around her. While Peter was the first one of the group to approach her, he soon wandered off in the search of his newborn baby, which awoke brief curiosity in her given the fact that his unconventional fathering gave him the questionable idea to allow a baby to roam freely with web shooters of her own. Around her stood Gwen, Hobie, Pavitr and Miles. Visually, the most arresting was easily Hobie, his suit tuned up with uncountable punk accessories which reflected great fashion taste, vintage for someone from her times but a timeless sense of style nevertheless. Pavitr quickly caught onto her character and sarcastically pulled some humor out of her, which gave her a relieving sense of peace. Being able to laugh reminded her of how much she longed to interact with other people without her mask, even if her new acquaintances surged thanks to it, being able to hold a conversation of no grave significance with strangers felt like a breath of fresh air she would probably never get in her dimension, where people were increasingly reclusive and asocial, and those few who were close to her were no longer around. Miles was the youngest of them all, and radiated the same friendly energy that seemed to be able to get her to open up so fast and so easily, she unwinded with them like she'd known them for a while, which wasn't usual in her character. The fact that all these people had so much in common with her made her feel closer to them, even though they were still strangers. She however, felt the closest with Gwen out of all of them, easily attributed to the fact that she was the first Spider-Woman she got to talk to since she arrived. Whenever they crossed words they understood eachother, causing her to giggle under her breath in a contention of excitement.
Miguel seemed to have derivated the responsibility of dealing with her to the group, who assumed the implicit task with no opposition, touring her around the headquarters and giving her a more detailed tour around the place, allowing her a chance to also meet some of the other Spider-People in the way. She quickly gathered that Spider-Men named Peter Parker were an overwhelmingly common sight, which contrasted with how different her new group of friends seemed to be between eachother. Despite the standard Spider-Person similarities, they all had different names and unique suits, which she thanked for thoroughly as she struggled to keep up with how many Peter Parkers she was greeted by in the short spawn of time she had been walking and swinging around the lobby. As they walked, the watches of the group lit up, and the hologram of another Spider-Woman allerted them of an anomaly they had to take care of in another dimension. Which to her seemed like a shocker was handled by the group like another Tuesday afternoon, quickly gathering to leave. "It was really nice meeting, you but we gotta' run." Miles exclaimed as they ran and soon disappeared in the multitude. There she was left with nothing but her own company, soon realizing she was completely lost on what followed. Miguel had communicated to her in a strange and rather unsettling manner that she was recruited to be a part of the Spider-Society to fight against the collapse of the multiverse, she had been made aware of the threat Spot posed to it and how it was their job to try to eliminate him, and had been given her own gizmo including a rich tour of the place, now what? She stood looking around. Seeing how everyone made their way to somewhere, she eventually realized she needed to get going herself. She found her way back to headquarters with some help of the other Spider-People, and as she entered she felt the contrast of the light in the lobby compared to the darkness of the office, which resembled an eerie bat cave. Her swift and agile movement dodging dozens of questionably placed gadgets and screens was performed in complete discression, which was not intentional, but almost an instinctive way of moving that she could no longer detach from herself, even when she wasn't playing Spider-Woman. She hesitated on whether to call out for Miguel or not. Her interactions with him ranged from absoulute intensity to awkward silence, and he was very distinctive from the other Spider-Men, not only by his height and the unique appearance of his suit and physique, but also his strange lack of a sense of humor. Unlike herself and the other Spider-People, Miguel failed to make a single joke in the spawn of time they'd spent together, and when he did try it came off as a mean bark, or a passive order. He sure wasn't her favorite Spider of the bunch, but he scared her enough for her to want to make a good impression on him. She was serious in the workplace and as far as her critical-self could tell, her performance was quite decent, however it would take more than that to gain a reputable name, as she assumed most members of the strikeforce, with the exception of Hobie, aimed towards a similar goal. She webbed her hair into a pony-tail, using the comfortable and limitless source of unconventional hairties.
"Miguel? You around?" She hopped onto the central area of what she could only call 'the cave', looking around for the Spider-Man. "You're still here?" An unwelcoming voice that only could be perceived as a sigh came from the floating platform. "Well, I haven't been told to do otherwise.." She struggled to find the propper words to express herself with, her tongue tripping on her own palate as she spoke. The platform descended in it's usual slow pace. "Fair enough, you're free to go. I'll let you know if we need you here." Her head tilted in confusion, was that it? She thought to herself about the disappointing outcome of her visit, after such a chilling premise of 'the fate of the multiverse', she was left with no tasks or anything she could do to help, and the fact that Miguel himself wasn't rushing to find Spot and 'retire' him only made her think it was probably harder than it seemed. "Is there really nothing more I can do?" Miguel jumped down from his base, walking past by her. "It's okay, you've done... enough today." What was that supposed to mean? The tone with which he spoke was holding back hostility, probably referencing her failure at stopping Spot back at her dimension, but it was ridiculous to hold any grudge at her for it, not only had he been just as futile as her, if not more, but she still had plenty of energy to run on anything else necessary. He was clearly dismissing her, but his speech had frightened her enough to make her wish like she was more useful. At least if the multiverse did collapse and they failed at completing their mission, she could be obliterated from existence knowing she tried her best. "Look, I get that my performance back home today was subpar, but I now know stuff I didn't. I really don't intend to brag but I think I'm good enough to do something around." She expressed calmly but persistently, following behind him. "I know you're good, you think I'd take you in if you weren't?" Miguel retorted before volatilely pushing devices and equipment out of his way, he seemed to be holding back aggression, yet visibly upset. "Look, it's good that you have that drive, but it's not necessary right now. Go home, I'll contact you through your gizmo if we need you." He didn't wait for a reply, leaving her alone in the cold office after sending her off. She shrugged to herself calling a victory for the rather snappy compliment. Still, she lingered thinking about Miguel's attitude, wondering what was the cause of his temper. Whatever it was didn't stress her much, as he seemed short-tempered himself and quite prone to lashing out, like he did back at her dimension. The more she thought about home, the more tempting resting seemed and the more greatful she was that Miguel considered her dispensable for the day.

Different anon, but talking of Norway and queer graphic novels, we have:
https://booksfromnorway.com/books/2050-the-eye-of-the-dragon-betrayed
Where the main character is non-binary (like the creator, @cha-c-san) and they fall in love with a buff woman who hasn't fallen in love with men before, so they are afraid she won't fall in love them (spoiler: but she does). There's also a character who is poly pan, he has both a female and a male love interest, and there's a gay couple who have a son. And there's some het couples too that aren't treated as superior nor horrible because they are het, all the couples are treated just as natural. I hope there'll be some canon a-spec people too.
I'm a repulsed aroace but none of the romances were repulsing to me personally if any other repulsed aros, aces, aroace, or traumatized think it looks interesting but are afraid it'll be too much.
https://booksfromnorway.com/books/2421-wild-paws-the-fox-farm
Is made by a trans man. I haven't read it yet as the demographic seems a little too young for me, but apparently it talks about serious topics like anxiety and the fur trade.
https://booksfromnorway.com/books/2552-valiant
Haven't read it yet either, *goes to book store, they only have it that I'm interested in, feels dumb if I just buy one thing due to social anxiety, goes to another bookstore, they have another book I'm interested in but not it, repeat*. But the author (I do not know about the artist) is bi. I don't know if this'll be presented in the books, but the main character is modelled and named after the author.
Bonus, ordinary novels:
https://www.gyldendal.no/barneboeker/9-13-aar/phenomena-1-profetiens-utvalgte/p-10003080-no/
The girl main character (the main characters are twins, a girl and a boy) is canonically (although the author didn't specify it before 2022) an aroace lesbian! The first edition of book 1 came out in 2002! The years where most of what a female character was, was dreaming about having a boyfriend! Isn't that just amazing?!
https://booksfromnorway.com/books/1634-benny-goes-berserk
Not read it yet but it's a coming of age story about a gay boy, and while the other kids are figuring out themselves, he already knows and is infuriated by this.
I don't know if there's others, but Seven Seas Entertainment has a monthly survey where you can suggest stories, if enough suggest them they'll hopefully licence it.
Thank you so much! Fun fact, my wife is Norwegian, so this list is very useful to me personally as well!

gonna gush about OCs real quick. (from the sci-fi(?) future short story I've mentioned like. twice).
thinking about my characters Case and Dane (<- names pending change?) they meet each other towards the beginning of december, fall in love, and then (presumably) die at midnight on new years (dane for sure dies). tho the story takes place in the 2050s, the original concept was/is based on how I've felt december 2023 (depressed and existential) so in my mind it does "take place" this year. and even tho I'm only like, a few thousand words into that story at this point, that's pretty decently far considering the end goal I have with it, so all that said I've grown kinda attached to the characters. they aren't the most well-rounded detailed characters, at least compared to my other OCs in my other WIPs? but I've worked enough on them that they feel pretty real. case is a kinda messed up 20-something who's terrified of death to the point of maladaptive avoidance, and dane is an even more messed up 20-something who craves love so much it hurts but doesn't know how to ask for love outside of sex. they don't have canonical appearances so I've just been visualizing them at cat furries (<- I hope that makes them cooler in ur mind). all that said, I'm kinda sad for REAL thinking about how they die in their story "tonight" because altho the story I have in my mind about them is really good and cathartic (at least to me, the target audience), they deserve better and I wish they had the chance to grow up. I'll sooner die than coffee-shop-au these OCs ftr, but yk.

In absolute queer classic The Gilda Stories by Jewelle Gomez, a young girl flees slavery after her mother's death and finds herself adopted by the proprietor of a prosperous, well-run brothel in Louisiana. Before choosing to end her very long life, the proprietor gives the girl two gifts: eternal life, and her name, Gilda. From there, we follow Gilda through her life as a cautious, independent, queer Black vampire, from Yerba Buena in 1890 to 1950s Boston to the disturbing unknowns of 2050.
This was the perfect book to read to kick off Pride Month. Yes it's deliciously queer and sapphic. But more important for me was the queering of what constitutes family, home, and intimacy. Family is a very conscious choice in this world of vampires. They live by a code of exchange—to honor life, and to only take blood if you leave a dream, token, boost of some kind behind. Not all vampires are like them, but they try to change only those who are ready for the life, who are open to learn their way. And so there's a real study of chosen family, and of a group of people who are incredibly intimate even when thousands of miles apart. Gilda must learn how to be both open and independent, both cautious and intimate, and discover all the different ways there are to love.
Gomez's vampires are old in body and soul, and earthy—they carry their home soil in the hems of their clothes and stuffed into their pallets. They learn how to be both human and apart, to blend while changing lives, or causes, for the better. The characters are vivid, rich, and compelling, and each chunk of story has its own arc and change of scene. There are little craft things here and there. The 3rd person point-of-view can skip around, a loose end or two go untied. And when you read the 2020 section, remember that the book was written in 1991.
Overall, I really enjoyed this fantasy read that felt like a classic, with its careful language and with a big scope filtered through one woman's eyes.
Content warnings for sexual assault, racism/racist language, homophobia/homophobic language, violence, ableism, suicidal ideation.
