So I was thinking about doing a database for umbrella academy fanfictions with people's recommendations so that they are easy to find, would anyone be interested?

Goddammit @onceuponanaromantic
On today’s edition of ‘Blue and Syl’s disaster AUs’,
。+゚.。+ NORMAL CHILDHOOD TUA 。+゚.。+
General info
They all go to the same high school
No-siblings AU except Ben and Klaus are still brothers bc I’m not splitting up my boys
Disaster ensues
Also warning I have no idea how American schools work and I go to a girls’ school and it kinda shows
Luther
School jock and you know it
probably into like. football or some shit. like the american one where body slamming is involved
Girls think he’s hot but god does he not know how to talk to girls
May or may not be dating Allison. nobody knows
Is secretly really into astronomy but shhhhh can’t have anyone thinking he’s *gasp*, a nerd
Allison
A queen
Idk how the whole popularity thing they always do in American TV works but you get the idea. She’s popular.
Probably doesn’t have as much control over her rumours so it’s more like. sometimes she suggests to teachers that they give her an extension on assignments and stuff and it works like, 70% of the time. she just assumes she’s really lucky
Sometimes she does the same thing to students when she gets frustrated enough
Darling of the theatre club
Perpetually jealous of Klaus’ makeup
Five
Insanely smart
In the science club and judges everyone
‘im judging you but not saying anything but the look on my face says you’re Wrong'
Simply doesn’t understand that other people aren’t as smart as he is like ‘why are all of you so stupid’ no you’re just too smart it’s just you Five
Aro ace and responds to every romantic dramaTM ever with *aggressive eyerolling*
Breaks like 12 rules every day but never gets caught
It’s hard to get caught by teachers for anything when you can just teleport away from the teacher
The kind of kid who’d skip those god awful assembly talks by sitting in a toilet for an hour but instead he just teleports to the school roof and reads
Probably would pull off my personal ‘fuck the system’ dream of like.. escaping being caught for something by a teacher by running out of the school gates before the teacher could get at him
Ben
Klaus’ brother
Ace
Parent hc: he and Klaus were adopted by Hazel and Agnes (because this is a fix-it AU and the commission doesn’t exist)
Mostly because you’d need parents with their level of bullshit tolerance to deal with both a. child who sees people who aren’t there b. child with eldritch tentacles coming out of his stomach
It’s okay he only uses the bentacles to like. grab stuff off high shelves
Quiet book kid
Diego’s closet key
Diego
Disaster bi
‘I don’t think that’s how physics works’ levels of good at sports
that’s actually not how physics works but shhhh
Insane baseball pitcher probably
Doesn’t get as many girls as Luther but he’s okay with it
He’s just trying to impress one specific girl
Yeah it’s Eudora
Had a brief crush on Ben and was literally too awkward to say anything so he just sort of sat around suffering for like a year (Ben never notices)
“Oh god he’s cute well guess I’ll die”
Klaus
He’s here and he’s queer
In some musical elective with Vanya
He plays piano
So for performances the boys were supposed to get suits and the girls get gowns but Klaus and Vanya took one look at their outfits, said ‘ew’ and decided to switch
Klaus redesigns the gown with like, 300% more glitter
Biggass crush on Dave, a senior
Big history nerd but partly because he can use his powers to cheat on history exams
I feel like. Hazel and Agnes would actually figure out that he can actually see dead people cuz ‘hell, our other son can summon lovecraft horrors from another dimension, it’s safe to assume we can just take this stuff at face value at this point’
Figured out Diego’s crush on Ben because at some point he mentioned offhand ‘oh did you know crushes last 11 months on average’ and Diego blurts out ‘thANK GOD’
Vanya
Raised by single mom Grace bc hell yeah Grace
Ben and Klaus’ neighbour which is why they’re really close
G a y
Bonds with Five because ~physics nerds~
It helps that she can use her powers to like.. float to Five’s new hiding spots. Eventually he stops changing them because Vanya always finds him anyway so what’s the point
Violin legend
After she exchanged outfits with Klaus like her Suit Look became an instant hit
Eudora’s closet key
Other stuff
Five Vanya and Ben have this special Spot on the second floor of this old lecture hall in their school where they can sit around and read and talk about ‘nerd’ stuff without being disturbed
(based off personal experience cuz there’s this like lecture hall-ish room in our school with a second floor that nobody uses ever and the door is in this super ominous looking corner behind the library so no student in their right minds would go inside and explore out of curiosity or whatever. its great.)
Klaus would tag along because come on he’s always going where Ben’s going
After he finds out about Diego’s crush he’d drag Diego along too partly just to watch him Suffer
From then on that place became the Disaster Queers club
Also yes Eudora and Dave’s in this AU
Bi Eudora who used to have a squish on Vanya bc come on her in a suit. badass.
Dave’s a senior who was very much het lagged until he saw Klaus performing and, well, the rest is history
Still very much in the closet afterwards (hc that his family isn’t... vv accepting) until Klaus introduced him to the rest of the Disaster Queers club like ‘cmon we’re all gay here’
Out of all the disasters, Dave was the only one with the guts to confess
He bought this bigass bouquet of flowers and gave them to Klaus after a recital to ask him out
Klaus’ response was to immediately burst into tears
Ben, freaking out: what did you do????!
Dave, confused: ask him out???

Stranger things xThe umbrella Academy
okay hear me out what do  you think abou...(drum roll please)...
Number Five and Dolores hargreves...
as Steve Harrington parents.
just thing about the chaos that would ocur once you add the hargreves siblings to the mix... like after season 1 they could be just weirded out about why steve was hurt and needed granma help whit his face and while the sibling are ready to fight  steve is like: “is nothing dont worry mom, dad it was just afight whit a classmate please put the gun down...”
the caos would explode after season 2 because the hargreves now are in alert and they dont like things that can husrt a member of their family..
Now imagine the reaction of the hargrees at the group of children steve has adoted as his and the reaction of the children to the hargreves being steves family.
next im going to proced and mark traits that steve had the fortune or misfortun to heredate of his family:
-His beuty routine and fashion stile is totaly thanks to his mon, aun Allison and uncle Klauss, because there is no way that he heredate his sence of stile of five that is happy using wathever because nobody cares about fashion in the apocalipse.
-Uncle Diego tried to teach him to flirt but surprisinly it was Five and Aunt Vanya that gave him the best advaice about relashionsips
-All he knows about neing a good baibysiter/mom-friend/Single-mon/Mom he learded it from grandma grace (we dont talk about Granpather Reginald)
-Uncle luther was the one to play sports whit him and teah him about music
-He loves his Uncle Klauss,Ben and Dave even if he only can see uncle klaus (i dont know if is bether for dave to be death or alive)
-Surpricinly his abiity whit the bat is all Dolores (nobody knows wy but dolores is terrifing when she has a bat in her hands and steve is just like her)
  - And obiusly his protective side is all Five

You want an ask? I'll send you an ask. 😊
What's an umbrella academy eadcanon you wish someone would ask you about?
Thanks for asking! I don’t have a big elaborate one with a lot of details but here’s a little one for each Umbrella:
warning for some angst because I can’t help myself
Luther doesn’t do physical affection, not because he doesn’t like it but because he’s afraid of accidentally hurting someone. When he meets Claire and she hugs him he almost cries because 1) he loves her 2) she loves him and isn’t scared of how intimidating he looks and 3) he’s just so touch starved
Diego knows all the words to Ya Got Trouble from the Music Man because Grace used it as an exercise for his stutter by having him practice saying a bunch of words very quickly and clearly. He still has the record she gave him even though it’s worn out now. (He insists he only listened to it for training and not any genuine enjoyment… but he’s lying)
Allison relied on her powers a lot in her career but started to doubt herself and her accomplishments because of it. She decided not to use her rumors at all for an audition/the full filming process of a movie to see if she could. It’s the film she’s most proud of even if it isn’t her most “successful” movie.
Klaus is the most artistically inclined of the siblings and could be very accomplished if he actually took the time to dedicate himself to it
Five is just a tiny bit hurt that it was Ben’s death that “ended” the Academy and not his disappearance. Not that he would ever say so because how selfish is it to be jealous of someone for dying?
Ben only became outspoken and sarcastic after he died because he was no longer crushed under Reginald’s thumb and was free to express himself for the first time. Also no one can spend that much time around Klaus and not snap at least a little bit.
Vanya totally had a thing for Helen that was more than just envy of her violin skills
+1 Bonus Klaus hc:
Klaus has dyslexia and/or ADHD
This was so fun!!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤 Thanks again 🥰

Hold On (translation) https://archiveofourown.org/works/27190876/chapters/66414487 Chapter 1: Dynasty
The worst thing about being caught in the middle of an apocalypse was not the lack of life, nor the lack of food or water. No, the worst thing about that desolate was the long silences, where his mind returned again and again to his memories, sometimes they were happy memories of his childhood; the melodies that his sister Vanya managed to play with her violin, the long and deep talks with Ben, the training sessions with Diego and Luther, or the escapades with Allison. At other times his mind would turn to his brother Klaus. Those memories were sweet but painful.
Klaus, always cheerful and happy, daring but needy. Willing to embrace everyone, to listen to them and support them, even when they were cruel. Klaus, the weakest of all his brothers, fragile to some extent, powerful for being able to recover so quickly, and brave for disobeying his father.
Always rebellious. Always free.
Until finally he could no longer cope with his father's oppression and their indifference.
It was a quiet Saturday when the tragedy that marked his life occurred, the hours passed slowly, the house was strangely quiet and the atmosphere was quite tense. He settled down on the couch while listening to Vanya play his violin, but not even the harmonious music of his sister could calm him down.
Out of the corner of my eye, I watched as Ben tried to concentrate on his book, but he was constantly looking away from the entrance to the room. Diego was restless, walking like a caged tiger before Allison expelled him because his footsteps and murmurs bothered her. Two didn't even bother to contradict his sister, he simply retreated to the kitchen, where Grace was baking cookies like she did every Saturday. Luther was nowhere to be found, locked in his room since Thursday night, refusing to leave.
"When is Klaus coming back?" - Finally Ben seemed unable to bear the absence of his green-eyed brother, the anguish on the Asian's face made him even more nervous
"He's probably fine, Dad wouldn't hurt him" - Allison's insecure voice tried to sound calm.
Ben looked at her furiously. "You shouldn't have told him to take the blame, Allison. Vanya stopped playing, surprised by the fury of the quieter of the seven. "Tell Dad the truth" - he ordered furiously, Ben's vest moved restlessly, Eldritch's beasts struggled to free themselves.
Both Allison and Vanya retreated, afraid of the beasts that their brother kept inside.
"Grace" -his father's voice, made them abandon the discussion, all ran to the entrance.
He could never get rid of the image of Klaus totally pale and inert in his father's arms while blood was still dripping from the delicate wrists on the expensive carpet.
If he concentrated, he could still smell the blood and hear Ben's screams. They were his most painful memories. The image of his dead brother was the reason why he tried to manipulate time and ended up in that place.
He often wondered if he ended up there as a punishment.
" I' m not thinking about them, Delores" - he denied emphatically, before he could continue to argue with his friend, he noticed a presence "Who are you?"
"The woman's predatory smile intrigued him more than scared him.
Delores whispered to him to kill her, but the idea of belonging to an organization with the ability to travel through time was too tempting. Having the possibility of seeing Klaus and the rest of his family again became more real with every word from the Manager.
---------------------------
If he could have laughed, he would have done so, but the distressed faces of all his brothers as he watched the moon fall apart were not at all funny to him. The guilt reflected on Allison's face brought back memories of when Klaus died.
Once again they had failed one of their brothers. This time to Vanya.
Actually, his little sister was right, they were not a family. Klaus' death had made that clear eighteen years ago.
Let no one say that the Hargreeves children were not stubborn. They were all intelligent but the only empathic one had been Four.
Thinking of Klaus was still painful for him, he thought that once he died, he would be able to reunite with his brother, but he had never been able to find the famous "light", and was condemned to wander the Earth, watching his other brothers. Many times he tried to communicate with them, but none of them had the capacity to see or hear him.
He approached his family, perhaps on this occasion the little girl God, would allow him to go to heaven to meet Klaus.
"Let's go" - the order of Five surprised him "Let's try to jump somewhere else" - he declared as he saw the doubt on everyone's face
Jump? Where? There was no place in the world that was safe, the pieces of the moon would destroy the Earth.
"Where do you want to go?" - As if Diego had heard it, he asked the question that haunted everyone's head.
"To the past" - that statement made him approach "I think I finally understood what I did wrong with my calculations. I think we can go back to save ourselves and Klaus.
He joined his brothers in the circle, even if no one was able to see or feel him, he tried to hold on to Diego. If they returned to the past, he prayed that he would be able to save his brother. He prayed to the little girl for a miracle. Only one: to be able to save his brothers.
The blue light surrounded them, they all started to become children again, somehow their older brother was succeeding, they would return to the past, the real question was when?
------------------
He was tired, his chest churning with every sob as he tried to breathe as his mother had taught him. The ghosts around him were silent, observing him, analyzing him carefully, just as they always did. He could see their mouths moving, but he could not hear them.
The blood on his battered nails had dried up and now he was simply lying on the ground. He no longer even had tears to cry about; they were just dry sobs that shook his tired body. He was dirty and wounded, he wanted to escape the first night and his father had beaten him with his cane. His head was throbbing painfully, where it hit him, but that blow had not only blurred his vision, but had also silenced the ghosts.
The cold of the dead froze his bones, he embraced himself, trying to keep the little heat from his body, just as Ben had taught him, but he felt colder and colder.
How long had it been since his father locked him up? I try to remember, but his mind was confused, it was a quiet Thursday, they had returned from a mission that turned out to be a failure, because some of the thieves were able to escape. While the team was discussing each other's responsibility, Luther and Diego began to fight, Ben and Allison tried to separate them, but during the fight, one of his father's favorite vases had broken. Seeing the fear on his brothers' faces and his father's fury, Allison had muttered to him that he should take the blame. He did so, against his will.
"You'll be all right, Klaus, ghosts can't hurt you," his favorite sister told him. His other siblings had remained silent, looking everywhere but him
After that, his father had dragged him to the cemetery, he turned to see his brothers, but they seemed relieved to be free of punishment.
He had lost count after the first two hours, when he tried to escape by scratching the door of the tomb, screaming as much as his lungs would allow. That was before his father beat him. He never saw him again. It seemed that his father forgot that he had locked him in that place.
The ghost of the pedophile who had killed ten children approached him with a sinister smile. He closed his eyes as he felt those hands running over his body, even if he was not able to physically touch him, he could feel those ghostly hands. He wanted to vomit.
Not all the ghosts were bad but most were like Joe, the pedophile.
He groped his pants, pulling out the knife Diego gave him for his last birthday. I admire his glow, he was so tired, surely no one would miss him, in fact his brothers would be better off without him.
He carried the blade of the knife to his wrists, hissing at the peaceful feeling it gave him when he cut himself, the blood dripping beautifully from his wrists. I look at the ceiling of the mausoleum and he let himself go.
----------------------
The first thing I noticed when they landed, besides the fact that they were in the academy room, was that the floor was cold and their body felt strange, less strong and balanced, less powerful.
Looking for his brothers, Allison was kneeling next to a fainting Vanya, Five, as he always seemed to analyze the situation, although he was exhausted. Luther was nowhere to be found.
He turned as he noticed another presence, as he laid his eyes on the other person, his heart stopped for a brief second. It was Ben. Ben was looking at them angrily standing by the fireplace.
"Ben?" - He needed to know that his thirteen-year-old brother's vision was not a mere illusion of his tired mind
"I have no time to waste with you" - were the words spoken, with a certain fury, the Asian walked quickly in the direction of the exit
"Wa..it..." - He stuttered
"I can't, I have to save Klaus" - Six didn't stop, didn't even seem willing to listen to them
Looking at his other brothers, Luther had just entered the room, totally agitated. He looked relieved to see Allison and Vanya well, then fixed his gaze on Cinco and he
"I'll go get Klaus" - his older brother declared, running after Six
He realized that, if they had been able to go back to the past, the newspaper on the coffee table indicated that it was April 1, 2002. Today was the day Klaus committed suicide.
-------------------
He ran as much as his legs would allow, even if he was the strongest in the academy and his body had returned to normal, Ben was still faster, he could see it, but he couldn't catch up.
Even if he knew he couldn't catch up with Ben, he tried. In fact, when he woke up in the academy with his thirteen-year-old body, he recognized the date immediately.  It was a day he would never forget. He never confessed it to anyone, but always felt responsible for the death of his younger brother.
Supposedly he was Number One, the elder, the leader; but he allowed his sister to frame Four without doing anything. He simply watched silently while Klaus was dragged to the cemetery.
It was no secret to them what their father did to the weakest of them. In his mind he always believed that what his father did with them was for the good of all. He really wanted to trust his father.
He should never have done that. Reginald Hargreeves was a monster and a horrible father, as Diego had declared.
This time, he would try to make things right.
----------------------------
Blood was gushing from his wrists, his clouded and numb mind made him smile as he noticed that he could no longer feel Joe's hands. In the distance he saw a bright light, he wondered if that was the light the dead were talking about so much.
Would he go to heaven or hell? It didn't really matter, he wasn't a believer.
He could hear his name, and some hands grabbed his wrists, opened his eyes, he didn't even realize they were closed, and the first thing he saw was Ben's face. He was trying to tell her something, but she couldn't hear him.
Why was Ben there?
"I don't understand you Ben" - his tongue felt scratchy and a little heavy, he hoped he had been able to articulate the words well
He was gently lifted off the floor, surprised to see Luther. Well, perhaps, after all, he was in paradise. Who would have thought that his paradise was one where his brothers cared for him? If he wasn't so tired he would embrace those versions, they seemed a little sad.
-----------------------
He tried to move, but his mind was too tired, being transported in time and space was not easy, much less when he was transporting five, no, six other people with him. While what he had transported was everyone's consciousness, that didn't make it any easier.
He could understand Ben and Luther's desperation to help Klaus. If he could have, he would have transported himself to the cemetery. Diego helped him get up and sit down on the couch.
Vanya was still asleep, he doubted he would wake up soon, and he feared how his sister would react. Allison seemed lost in thought, touching her throat.
"Go" - he ordered Diego "Find Klaus, I'll stay with the girls" - if he couldn't be with his brother, he would make sure he had all the siblings he could.
Allison didn't even try to go after Diego, too busy taking care of Vanya, silent tears welled up in her eyes. Part of him wanted to comfort his sister, but on the other hand, he also wanted her to suffer.
Allison needed to learn to control her urge to use her powers on everyone.
That's how his father and Pogo found them, before his siblings came tumbling in. He didn't even look at them, not when he felt Klaus in his brother's arms.
He could not see him die again.

Umbrella Academy Rewatch 1x01
With the second season of Umbrella Academy approaching, I figured I should have a rewatch of the first season again.
Of course, we start at the beginning, with us being told that on October 1st, 1989, 43 completely unrelated women around the world miraculously gave birth at the same time.  This event was particularly unusual since none of these women had been pregnant when they’d woken up that morning.  We’re also told that Reginald Hargreeves, an eccentric billionaire and adventurer had attempted to adopt as many of these miracle babies as possible, even going so far as to approach the mothers directly and paying them to allow him to take their baby. away.  In the end, he managed to obtain seven of these unusual babies and brought them to his estate.  As it turned out, each of these seven babies had seemingly been born with a unique superhuman ability.  Luther (AKA Number 1) possessed super strength.  Diego (AKA Number 2) could control the trajectory of any object he throws, with his preference being knives.  Allison (AKA Number 3)  can manipulate people’s actions simply by saying the words ‘I heard a rumor.’  Whatever she says after those words will actually happen.  Klaus (AKA Number 4) is basically the kid from The Sixth Sense.  Number 5 (who never received an actual name for reasons that I’ll explain a little later, can teleport/time jump.  Ben (AKA Number 6) can essentially summon Lovecraftian horrors from his body.  And finally, there’s Vanya (AKA Number 7).  She allegedly doesn’t have any special abilities, so she was always left out when Reginald meticulously trained the others to be some sort of elite superhero team in the vein of X-Men, with the building they all lived in being treated like a school called The Umbrella Academy.
Of course, the main story actually begins years later, when the Hargreeves Siblings have all grown up.  And grown apart as well, as each of the siblings have, for the most part, put their old lives behind them and have therefore become estranged from one another.  In an opening montage, we’re introduced to the now-adult Hargreeves Siblings.  Luther, for reasons that are revealed later on in the show, has spent the past four years on the moon.  Diego has become a vigilante.  Allison is now a big movie star with a legion of fans. Klaus is a drug addict, and is pretty much in and out of rehab.  And Vanya is a violinist who hopes to make it into a major orchestra.  As you might have noticed, there are two of the Hargreeves Siblings that haven’t been accounted for.  As the episode explains as it progresses, Number 5 mysteriously disappeared 17 years prior, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.  And Ben has died for reasons that are as of yet unknown.
As the opening montage wraps up, Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus and Vanya all learn that Reginald Hargreeves has suddenly passed away.  So they all return to his old estate to attend his funeral.  Though, upon arriving, it’s made very clear that Diego is not the least bit pleased to see Vanya.  It turns out that, at some point, Vanya wrote an autobiography about her life growing up as the odd one out among the others.  And she apparently revealed some of the Hargreeves family’s deepest, darkest secrets within her autobiography.  So this has pretty much further ostracized Vanya from hier siblings, particularly Diego.  Though Allison seems to be willing to look past that in light of the current situation.
Anyway, the next few minutes of the episode allows us to get to know our main characters, and how they interact with one another.  Diego, as we’ve established, isn’t very pleased to see Vanya, which does’t help with how she already felt like an outsider amongst her siblings.  And Luther also seems mistrustful of Klaus, though this wasn’t entirely undeserved, as he stopped Klaus from trying to pocket some of Reginad’s old trinkets.  Off hand, only Allison seems somewhat normal, as she responds with reasonable softness to each of her long-lost siblings.  However, it seems even she has some sort of baggage, as she admits her husband filed for divorce 8 months ago, and her now-ex-husband has full custody of their daughter, something that clearly upsets her a great deal.  During this whole sequence of events, we also meet Grace. who was, for all intents and purposes, the Hargreeves Siblings’ mother, and Pogo, the family butler who is, to put it bluntly, an anthropomorphic chimpanzee.  (Just roll with it.)
As the episode progresses, Luther makes it clear that, despite the autopsy report stating Reginald died of a heart attack, he suspects foul play was involved somehow.  He points out that Reginald’s signature monocle was missing, and he and suspects that somebody took it.  And if somebody took the monocle, it meant that Reginald hadn’t been alone when he died.  Of course, Luther’s attempts at sharing this theory with his brothers and sisters goes poorly when he clumsily makes it sound as if he suspects one of them might have murdered Reginald.
In spite of the tangible rift between them, we do get a small indication that there’s still a deep-rooted bond between the siblings when Luther plays a vinyl recording of Tommy James and the Shondells’ I Think We’re Alone Now.  Even though the five siblings are all in different rooms, they all are shown dancing to the same song.  It’s a particularly enjoyable scene, particularly when the camera pans out to what I call ‘the dollhouse shot.’
However, the dance party is interrupted by a sudden disturbance out in the courtyard.  When the five siblings run outside to investigate, Luther surmises it’s some sort of temporal anomaly.  (Lucky guess!)  As they watch in confusion and bemusement, a figure emerges from the time portal.  To everyone’s amazement, the figure is revealed to be Number 5, who hasn’t seemed to age a day since the morning he vanished 17 years ago.
The Hargreeves Siblings convene down to the kitchen, where Number 5 fixes himself a snack.  As he proceeds to make himself a sandwich (peanut butter and marshmallow), Number 5 explains his prolonged absence happened because he went against Reginald’s instructions and attempted to travel through time, resulting in him getting stuck in the future.  And, while it’s been 17 years since his disappearance for the other Hargrees Siblings, it’s been 45 years for him.  But he managed to finally find a way to return to the present day through some technobabble explanation.  But for whatever reason, while his consciousness remains that of a 58 year old man, his body has regressed to that of his 13-year-old self.  Although, he doesn’t really explain anymore than that and simply walks off, leaving his brothers and sisters to take it all in.
Of course, it then cuts to the funeral service, with everyone gathered out in the courtyard to pay their last respects to Reginald.  But of course, drama erupts when Diego begins an emotional rant about how Reginald was a horrible man and father.  Which wasn’t entirely off the mark, as we see through flashbacks that he might have also conducted experiments on the Hargraves Siblings.  Here, it’s also revealed that Reginald never gave any of them their names and had simply referred to them by their individual numbers.  It was their mother, Grace, who had given them their actually names.  (Which does explain why Number 5 doesn’t have a real name like the others.  He must have vanished to the future before Grace began issuing names)  This ultimately leads to a fist fight breaking out between Diego and Luther. In the ensuing fight, the statue that had been erected in the late Ben’s memory is broken, and Diego ends up throwing one of his knives at Luther, leaving a bleeding gash in his arm.
So, things are clearly still strained between the Hargraves Siblings, who all soon part.  Vanya is the first to leave, with only Pogo seeing her off.   Diego heads off soon afterwards (with Klaus tagging along).  Number 5, however, retreats to a local doughnut shop called Griddy's Donuts, hoping to get a decent cup of coffee.  But before he can begin his drink, he notices a group of men armed with guns entering the shop.  Number 5 doesn’t seem to be the least bit surprised by this, simply remarking he thought it would take them longer to find him.  The leader of the armed men instructs Number 5 to come with them.  But Number 5 chooses to not cooperate.  And he proceeds to utilize his teleportation skills to meticulously kill every single one of the gunmen, as Istanbul (not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants plays over the scene.  Once all the men are dead, he calmly cuts into his arm with a discarded knife, putting out what appears to be a tracking chip.  With the tracking chip removed, he calmly walks out of Griddy’s Donuts, as the poor waitress (whose name will be revealed to be Agnes in later episodes) peers over the counter at the remaining mess and dead bodies, completely shell shocked.
As the first episode wraps up, we see Diego has Reginald's missing monocle, though it’s not clear at this point how or why he has it.  We also get our first glimpse of Ben, the deceased member of the Hargraves Siblings.  Even though he is dead, he is present in the show as a ghost.  Though only Klaus can see and hear him on account of his ‘superpower.’  As for Vanya, she returns to her apartment, where she is shocked to find Number 5 has broken in.  Vanya is quick to spot he’s bleeding (on account of his self-inlicted cut), but Number 5 virtually waves away her concern.  He tells her that he’s decided to share some vital information with her, since he feels she’s the only one he can trust.  Throughout the episode, it was implied that Vanya and Number 5 had been rather close as kids.  For instance, after Number 5 had vanished, Vanya had made a habit of leaving out peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches for him every night, because she didn’t want him to go hungry if he ever returned.  As such, Number 5 tells Vanya that, when he jumped ahead in time, he learned that something catastrophic will happen in the future that will effectively wipe out the entire human race.  While he wasn’t sure what exactly caused the apocalypse to happen, he was able to determine the date it occurred- exactly eight days from the present date.   Vanya takes this bombshell surprisingly well.
Well, that’s quite an opening episode.  We got a group of siblings with a strained relationship, a suitable mystery on our hands and a fast-approaching end of the world. Not to mention the whole weirdness the show just expects us to accept with no actual explanation.  All in all, this episode does effectively rope you in, leaving you with a bunch of questions that you want to see answered.
Additional things of note:
Grace is revealed to be a robot.  Which explains how she sometimes seems to be out of it at certain points in the episode
Vanya is taking what appears to be a prescription medication
The exploits of the Hargraves Siblings as a superhero team led to them having a certain level of fame.  There were even comic books made about them in the show’s reality.
Even though Luther made him drop Reginald’s trinkets, Klaus still managed to make off with an ornate box with currently unknown contents
