Not only is it Pride Month, it’s also Aggressively Arospec Week! So naturally I had to draw my favourite aromantic headcanons, who also happen to be my favourite characters, from Aro Attorn-- I mean, Ace Attorney. Happy Pride Month and Happy Aggressively Arospec Week!

And now my thoughts have fallen onto Hank. So many questions, where to begin? Who is he? Where did he come from? Why does he act so violently? Did he choose this path, or was it chosen for him?
All questions the Madness fandom has asked and, in many different ways, attempted to answer. Sad, angsty backstories of the loss of someone close, a rough upbringing or some kind of traumatic event.
And of course, we have the "canon" interpretation. The cold blooded murderer who has little to no regard for himself or others. No meaningful connections, no friends, loved ones, or goals to aspire to. Just a man who's really good at killing people.
And I will admit more often than not, I find myself using this interpretation for more Hank related or Hank-adjacent things, but that's not to say I haven't found myself exploring the deeper psyche of our dear protagonist, and wondering just what exactly makes him tick, so to speak.
There was a time I had actually subscribed to headcanons that made Hank more of a sympathetic character, someone to relate to and feel bad for, someone who cared for his friends and was simply bad at showing it. And while I do not challenge the validity of such headcanons, I find myself wanting to take a more...Ambiguous approach.
One of the more entertaining aspects of Madness Combat, at least to me, is the inherent ambiguity of many things. Project Nexus more or less confirmed a lot of the fandom's headcanons regarding several major characters, Hank being no exception. There have been a fair share of arguments regarding Hank's feelings to those who would otherwise be considered his friends and allies, namely Sanford and Deimos.
In a way, I enjoy how many people are discussing and debating just what Hank was thinking in the very moment he decided to betray the dynamic duo that we had just finished playing as for 1/3rd of the game, characters that we were able to easily establish an emotional connection to due to their bombastic personalities. Generally, the personalities of these two are largely uncontested across the greater fandom, but Hank's is always the topic of debate.
I enjoy this because well, it's kind of always been like this. Even in the earliest years of the fandom, there were arguments in forums and in newgrounds comments sections about whether or not Hank was the "good guy", and the debate rages on. It's endearing, much like Hank himself and the series he belongs to.
It reminds me of an idea I had, in regards to if I were in charge of a Madness Combat movie. Hank in particular is a character I would be eager to depict on the screen, to have the chance to depict his emotional ambiguity to an audience who had previously never experienced the character and his violent escapades.
I would intentionally create scenes that leave the viewer asking just how much of a consciousness Wimbleton truly has. A scene where he picks up a stuffed bear, battered and worn by years of neglect and exposure to the elements. He stops and stares at it for a moment, as if in some kind of somber reflection - before unceremoniously tearing the toy open to reveal a wad of bills inside, or some other useful item.
Was Wimbleton reflecting on a childhood lost, or perhaps the loss of innocence that now plagues his world? Or was he simply inspecting the toy in order to find the right place to tear it and extract his desired item?
I think if I were to depict the battle between Sanford, Deimos and Hank in the form of a film, I would have Hank fight in a specific way. Defensively, in order to introduce dual ideas. Does he fight defensively because he knows he's outnumbered, or does he not desire to maim and kill the duo as he does his usual victims?
Would he stab Sanford in the shoulder instead of the heart? A lucky miss, or perhaps a deliberate attack in order to avoid lethality? Is he truly fighting to kill, or does some deeper recess of his mind not desire to harm those he has fought alongside through the horrors of Project Nexus?
Would they notice it, would they see it that way, would Sanford and Deimos pick up on Hank's fighting style, or would the heat of the moment only allow them to view it as one thing: A desperate struggle for survival?

30 Ace Attorney Headcanons!
1. We know for a fact that a lot of women had crushed on Miles, but people worldwide had crushes on Nahyuta because he is absolutely gorgeous. They know nothing of his past and some people had crushed on Simon.
2. Kristoph didn't give forged evidence to Phoenix so that Zak can plead guilty or anything of that sort, he gave him forged evidence and told Klavier so Klavier becomes popular in the world of law. He actually cares for Klavier in his own strict, weird and slightly harsh way.
3. Whenever Miles is flustered, he loses his British accent and reverts back to the American accent he grew up with when speaking English.
4. Klavier calls girls "Fräulein" which means "Missy" or something like that, and gives boys nicknames such as "Herr Forehead" or "Herr Samurai". But whenever he's stressed, anxious, nauseous or REALLY nervous or scared, he reverts back to first names or "Mr. ______" or "Ms. ______"
5. Nahyuta REALLY loved geography and history. He has memorised/memorized all countries, their capitals and a few other states by heart. And he has memorized/memorised the histories of about 5-6 countries.
6. Larry, Maya and Franziska have became uncle and aunt figures to Trucy. They take their roles very seriously because they know that Phoenix and Miles feel safe enough to let their daughter be around them, so they make sure not to be bad influences.
7. Simon is the least getting arrested because Athena was around and they didn't want her picking up on any bad habits. And after getting released, he got used to cursing in prison but upon seeing Athena again, he reverted to his old self.
8. Klavier and Simon are a duo of destruction in the prosecutors' building and they are best friends.
9. During AA4, Phoenix Wright is a recovering alcoholic.
10. Rayfa calls her older brothers "Braid Head" and "Horn Head" and acts more comfortable, natural and informal around them so they can feel a bit more comfortable with her. But they don't realize/realise it and they stick with the name "Your Benevolence" and they try not to get too comfortable or informal around her in fear that she'll dislike it which makes her feel alone and pretty sad.
11. Nahyuta, Apollo, Pearl, Athena, Simon, Kay, Beanix, Trucy and Zak are all ready to throw hands anytime, anywhere.
12. Lamiroir's latest music video is filled with hints of her real identity.
13. People in universe make theories about Lamiroir's real identity but whoever believes in those theories is called stupid. The biggest theory right now is her being Thalassa Gramarye.
14. Phoenix's beanie in AA4 was knitted by Trucy with the help of Franziska.
15. Phoenix got a long-term heart condition when Manfred tasered him.
16. In Turnabout Succession, when Vera looked at Klavier, small portion of her brain mixed him up with Kristoph and she thought that Klavier IS Kristoph. And that small portion manifested her whole, but when Klavier was being sweet and nice to her, she started doubting that he is Kristoph.
17. During AA6, Klavier was back in Germany and he couldn't look at himself without being reminded of his brother. He never knew his brother actually cared for him, and because of that he has a breakdown and cuts his hair. The same haircut for when he was 17.
18. Apollo's sprites in AA5 resemble Kristoph a LOT. Especially when he was testifying. Phoenix felt so disgusted because of that.
19. Miles doesn't care at all about his mother because she abandoned him and his father when he was about 4 years old. [Younger or older if you'd like]
20. Guy Eldoon became a doctor again after the events of AA4.
21. Out of everything that Apollo experienced, the worst event was Clay's death.
22. Miles tries not to get mad at his prosecutors because he loves all of them very dearly.
23. Apollo had black psyche locks regarding the death of his father and Phoenix has black psyche locks regarding his emotions.
24. Apollo and Clay were huge fans of The Avengers, Harry Potter and ANY fantasy series there is.
25. Clay and Mia know each other. They've met before and she was kinda like an older sister figure to him and a mother figure after his mother died.
26. Kristoph was actually friends with Dahlia and Matt.
27. Kristoph knows the real identity of the phantom.
28. The phantom was involved in the smuggling ring case in Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
29. Apollo actually had a teeny weeny eeny meeny shrivelled little small crush on Clay but didn't tell him to not ruin their friendship. Or vice versa if you'd like.
TW: IMPLIED 4BU$3, MENTIONS OF KN!V3$
30. This is a long one and I'll need an image for it. So you know how I have a headcanon that Kristoph and Klavier and half-brothers from mother and that their parents decided to play favorites/favourites with them because Klavier's parent [father or mother, you decide] that is Kristoph's step-parent hated both the kids [3 if you headcanon a sister] and the parent got so mad because of an argument that they slashed Kristoph's hand with a knife. It was so bad that he got stitched up.
Yes he has a cut and here it is:

For the three of you: do you guys have an equivalent to Dungeons and Dragons here? Y'know, the tabletop roleplaying game? If so what kind of character do you play?
Tumblr media
Peach: It's still Dungeons and Dragons here, a lot of us are familiar with the concept actually!
Peach: Ash doesnt play- like a nerd- but when we rope him in, he tends to hinge on Barabrian type classing or a Sorcerer Barbarian if he double classes. Usually as a Hald Orc named Satoshi because he's an unimaginative dweeb.
Peach: Indigo is busy but when he can play he lynchs on a Cleric/Rouge DragonBorn. It's so fucking funny when we ruin his role playing because he's laughing to hard at something stupid we did.
Peach: The kids dont play just yet, but we've been introducing Peppy to it. She's mostly been sitting to the side at the moment but she's been voicing some of the characters!
Peach: Mom and Dad are our duo DM's. Mom hinges on the Psyche of our characters while Dad hinges on the fighting. They voice characters and are absolutely MAD that we befriended an enemy and now she follows us around like a lost puppy!
Peach: I tend to lean on a Druid/Fighter Teifling! He's the best and tries to pick pocket the rouge all the time and Indigo gets giggly whenever i fail. It's all in fun!

Hi Nina! I know we can't know too much about the side characters, but are there any crumbs you can tell us about?
oooh!!! honestly i love all the rm side characters -- and by that i mean like...75% of the characters in south park because for some reason i decided to put like all of them in rm, which is such a nightmare smh.
but hmmmmm....okay. so there's a kyle-centric side plot i really like in rm that shows up pretty soon ( that's why i'm not that worried about talking about it ) that is basically sort of kyle's legally blonde / righteously readhead moment where kyle's crimina laur professor AKA mr. motherfucking mackey, Babey! puts out this batshit insane, hard ass, ball-busting, literally Impossible To Pass midterm from hell, mmkay? and the 4 students that score the highest on the exam get to work with him on a pro-bono real life case out there in the world.
& the students that score the highest, better known as Jersey's Lawyer Core Four, ( yes, theyre a ragtag group of misfits, no they do not work well together/like each other v much at first ) are as follows:
kyle broflovski, heidi turner, tolkien black...
...and clyde donovan LKSHDSSKDHSD
( more on the sillies below...theyre jst Concepts atm but here! <3 )
now, back to clyde who....Sigh....
...everyone assumes got chosen because clyde's father essentially runs the university and his mother was a Crazy Talented Lawyer Lady who became the world's youngest supreme court justice before she passed -- i want to say clyde either indirectly caused/was present when she died and his father never forgave him/resented him for it...
but uhhhhh actually he just filled in the scantron in the shape of a Dinosaur and scored ONE POINT HIGHER THAN KYLE....do u know how MAD kyle was??? ohhhmg he was like yOU MUSTVE CHEATED YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE HERE U FUCKEN HALFWIT kyle is about to strangle clyde during the entire fanfiction smh i love the lawyer side plot so much hes like constantly running from kyle oof
but yeah thats clyde...he is the Big Man on Campus. hes kind of frat boy obnoxious like id call him a himbo but hes a chad tbh...HES GOT A GOOD HEART THO!!! he Means Well hes just suuuch a fkn disaster.
also i talk about him in a different ask ( someone asked me abt lesbian bebe! <3 ) but clyde has been in 'love' with bebe like his whole life and the running gag is he keeps trying to ask her out and has struck out Every Single Time its so funny help i luv him hes so LAME like clyde pls stop flexing she doesnt Want u!! shdjksd HE CRIES A LOT...clyde & ravenstan collab when oh my god...which tbh i do not think clyde likes cd but he respects their ability to pick up girls smh...
( also note: clydes a bicon but he does Not kno that yet...pray 4 him )
AND i actually think hes a REALLY GOOD lawyer!!! he has his moms passion and innate ability! but hes a disorganized mess and no one thinks that the can do it so he psyches himself out a lot...but hes gonna Shock Us All! HES A SLOW BURN OKAY!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU CLYDESDALE ) hes also craigs super best friend...no1 gets it. theyre brothers/soul bonded. like they are a truly iconique duo, tbh.
so uhhhh heidi works at grounded with kyle!!! i dont have her fleshed out but obvi she is our environmental law erin brockovich crunchy granola queen. her hair goes down to her ass...always smoking that grass...she is pagan, very good friends with tweek ( witchy legends ), she wears a lot of big funky statement jewelry, v sweet, v shy, but is at every single campus protest, lesbian but uh...cant talk to girls...
particularly one girl...with cool dyed red hair and a really cool sternum tattoo...who bartends at the lesbian bar and sometimes plays really kick ass indie rock music/is currently tryin to make it big like crimson dawn...possibly half peruvian and cousins w/craig. anyways! heidi is very lovely and kyle actually likes her very much because she lowkey reminds him of stan and marjorine combined into one person so he is very scary older brother overprotective of her bc shes his baby gay law student little sister and a strong breeze will blow her over....smh.
and finally, tolkien black is in a similar boat as kyle where there was a lot of pressure for him to fall into a certain profession but i think that tolkiens dad in the rm verse was like a very famous director and his mom was also involved in acting/film industry ( i think he may actually know raven/co. bc his dad helped direct their music vids ). tldr; tolkiens family is v affluent, indulgent and Rich Rich. like richer than fkn god like i think he was delivered on a yacht tbh. That RICH.
and tolkien was supposed to just fall into that role of acting...but has no interest in following in his parents footsteps/using them to make a name for himself or pretending to be someone hes not for that matter ( and just to pay homage to the show, i might have it so he changed his name from token to tolkien bc token was vapid ) and wanted to become a lawyer bc hes passionate abt pro-bono cases, specifically public defending/helping people who don't have help.
he has a very generous and gorgeous soul, the inside matches the outside tbh...him and kyle dress the best ( heidi is very light, airy, flowy shirts & long skirts, clyde is sloppy frat boy outfits/backwards hat/reps his fraternity [ hes president ], tolkien is kind of chill, casual, understated ( he also has dreads hes so fine ) not flashy but sort of effortlessly put together and kyle is giving crazy dead 1920s evil dark academia tired classics professor realness...hes so hot pls i luv him DREAM TEAM...NIGHTMARE FROM HELL TEAM IF U WILL!!! )
clyde and tolkien also clash and argue a lot in rm/hate each other p much. which uh, in my fanfiction, is v interesting...thats all imma say.
but yeah!!!!! jersey justice lgbt lawyer law student odd squad rise!!!!!
-uncle nina, who can quote legally blonde from memory
p.s. im gonna say clyde and kyle are sp native and heidi and tolkien are not from sp...to keep things interesting...anyways! i hope you enjoyed my weird info dump. these are...my kids...my babies, omg.

So it seems like there's two plausible theories about how things went down at the Box in terms of Grian killing Ren and BigB. The first is the one that's been going around the fanon, which is that Grian thought that Ren ignited the TNT that killed Scar, and was so mad about it that his mind turned to murder. He was so mad, in fact, that he forgot that getting revenge on Ren would kill BigB as well, something he clearly did not want to do.
Facts in favor of this theory: Grian was really mad when Scar got blown up, like scary mad. Grian chose to trap Ren's actual house, which is typically what you do when you want to kill a specific person. Grian successfully did kill Ren and seemed pretty psyched about it right up until he thought about BigB.
Facts against this theory: Grian already knew that Ren was not responsible for any part of the TNT trap. A manually activated dripstone trap is not ideal for a trap you don't plan on using right away, and Ren and BigB were not obviously nearby when Grian got to the Box. By Session 5, it's kind of difficult to believe that even with willful effort, Grian would forget who BigB's soulbound is.
The other theory, one that I think is more plausible under the circumstances, is that it was (mostly) an accident. When Grian and Scar got to the Box they were being closely followed by Etho and Joel, who were going house to house and burning down the server. Etho and Joel are a big and dangerous problem for the Desert Duo and would be much better off eliminated, and they could be pretty sure that those two would be heading for the Box very soon. If you watch from Scar and Grian's perspective, the person who is seen in the doorway right before the drop isn't Ren, it's Etho. Etho also confirms that he was being chased by Ren when Ren died. A delay of a fraction of a second would be the difference between hitting Etho and hitting Ren.
So why did Grian celebrate the kill? Well, it really was an incredibly sweet kill, a trap deployment that worked better than anybody could've expected and that took out two technically legitimate targets. And in the heat of the moment maybe he did forget for a second that killing Ren would also kill BigB! But also, with Joel and Etho literally right there, with better weapons and armor and all of them on red, it would've been very impolitic to admit "Well I was aiming for you, but I hit them by accident." At that point, it was much safer to pretend that you're all on the same side, then leave the area ASAP, which is exactly what they did.

"Stronger than madness" by Mexican gothic electro psych rock duo Gant off of 2020 EP Tales of a Sacred Night

I appreciate your attitude on alternate interpretations. I have a similar problem with Simon + Athena content but I guess from the slightly opposite side? (why are these even sides) I find their dynamic really compelling whatever form it takes, mostly platonic but I don't mind otherwise. I just think they're neat! But so much art or whatnot for them feels the need to tack on oddly hostile disclaimers like 'NOT shippy if you ship them go die' and it's like. sheesh, this is a video game where one of these characters prosecuted an orca. I try to not let me it turn me off from the whole fandom, but it does stop me from venturing too far into the tags because it usually ends up being just not a fun place to be.
I'll admit to have cracked jokes & voiced my disinterest in less charitable terms in the past, though a line is always drawn at the people who happen to enjoy it. We ultimately want the same thing after all - to bask in Psyche Duo content that Dual Destinies had burned a strong affinity for in our brains. It'd be like kicking someone for enjoying a different flavour of cake.
I do understand not wanting anything to do with content you're not interested in or dislike. Making it clear that what you're posting isn't an invitation to share things that annoy you is a reasonable thing to do. Telling people they can (in charitable terms) eat glass for enjoying a story the wrong way gets the point across but not a tone I'm all that thrilled with in this context. I'd rather save that level intensity for other things that aren't well-suited for a silly Ace Attorney fan page.
Point is, I'd rather save my energy for things that more seriously effect me. There's enough for me to be mad about as-is. without adding strangers enjoying a pastel & goth couple with names I heppen know slapped over it.
Whoo, this got more in-depth than I would've thought! But compartmentalising one's emotions and not worshipping your pet headcanons is something I think could be done more often around these parts.
Thank you if you stuck around this long!

NOT LONG UNDER ELEANOR’S BOOT, LILA BEGAN TO FIDGET. But the blonde wasn't keen on letting her go just yet.
"My father taught me well, I wouldn't struggle," Eleanor taunted as the girl continued to grunt.
"You got a good nose," She complimented Five as he figured out she was behind all this.
"You know planting her in the psych ward, taking advantage of my simpleton brother, that was smart," he compliments her back.
"Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," she said with a small laugh.
Eleanor looked up at the, "She's your—"
"—daughter. Yes, and she's my only one, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't crush her windpipe," the woman said giving Eleanor a smile.
Reluctantly the girl removed her foot off her, with a nod from Five.
"Also cute outfit, the whole white on white," The Handler responded making motions at her little outfit, "The whole school girl thing must be his thing huh?"
Eleanor huffed but didn't answer, rather she stood by Five. Something that made him sigh inwardly, the Eight he knew wouldn't let the woman talk all over like this.
Lila stood from the ground and got close to the duo, "I will enjoy killing you both someday," she threatened.
"Lila, darling, would you give us a minute, please?" The Handler interrupted.
"Yes the grown-ups need to talk," Five commented watching the woman walk away far enough to where she couldn't hear them.
"Do you like Jazz Five, Eight?" she asked the two.
Five lifted his hand before Eleanor could answer, "I'd rather lick a cheese grater," he commented.
The Handler gave the boy an obnoxious smile, "Jazz is like a beautiful woman," she began reaching to touch Eleanor's blonde hair, "Complex, emotional, hard to please," she comments running her gloved hand over her soft face, "She doesn't just give it to you...she makes you work for it." she says now standing behind Eleanor putting her hands on her shoulders.
Five shifted uncomfortably as the woman used Eleanor as a way to talk about nonsense, "I'm really hoping you're going somewhere with this."
Her hands still on the blonde's shoulders, "Under my leadership, the Commission would sound more like....jazz." she comments lifting the blonde stands and letting them fall on her shoulders.
Five looked at the woman, "And what about the board of directors?" he mentioned to the woman.
"Well, that's where you and darling jazz over here come in," she said putting her head on the blonde's shoulder.
"Nope," he said, answering for the both of them, "No, it isn't."
Moving her head she wrapped an arm around Eleanor's shoulders, "In exchange for the assassination of the board, I'm willing to get you and your family out of this timeline and back to 2019 where you belong."
"What about world war III that's about to kick off in a few days?" asked Eleanor, looking at the woman next to her.
The Handler turned and poked her nose, "Well once you and your siblings are gone, that goes away."
"And the Apocalypse in 2019?" he asked.
"That too," she replied with a smile.
"I distinctly remember you telling me that that apocalypse had to happen, that it was supposed to happen." Five said bringing back the words he told her.
"Back then I was toeing the company line, but once I'm in charge, we can riff," she said her hands on Eleanor again.
"Jazz," he said, his eyes flickering to Eleanor, now he was mad that it was the image of jazz.
Five paced looking over at the blonde wishing she could help him, but with her state, all she was, was a blank piece of a paper with feelings.
"What about the board of directors? I mean no one knows who they are," Five told them.
"Correct," The Handler answered walking away from the Blonde, "But once every fiscal quarter, they get together for a board meeting."
"Where?" he asked curiously.
"The question is when. They meet somewhere in the timeline but never in the same place twice. The exact location and date of these board meetings are the most closely-guarded secret in the Commission." The Handler explained.
"But you know where it's gonna be, don't you?" he asked her, knowing all too well.
"Would I be any good at what I do, if I didn't?" she said looking at the two.
"Eight, lets' go, I need to think about it," he said, pulling Eleanor as he walked away.
"You know it's so sad seeing Little Eight not being able to think for herself, I wonder what she would say," she said loudly, "And remember doomsday is just around the corner. I'm your only option," she finished.
"Not yet you aren't," he replied, jumping with Eleanor.
The two began heading back to Morty's but stopped when they were delivered a card.
"Magnolia? Interesting," Eleanor hummed as she saw the street name.
And so the two set off to walk to their destination, side by side.
"Who was the woman?" Eleanor asked suddenly as they were walking off to their destination.
"A woman we called The Handler, you hated her," Five said as he had his hands in his pockets.
"Why did I hate her?" she asked curiously.
"While we worked for her, she tended to hit on me a lot, and you as my wife, then, didn't like that," He replied, not thinking too much about it.
"I don't think anyone would like that if you were together," she said with a smile.
Five didn't say anything for a while, but from the corner of his eyes looked at her, "You know, you're different," he said.
Eleanor hummed, "A bad difference?" she asked.
"I don't know yet," he confirmed.
And so the rest of the way they were silent, not speaking. Or looking at each other. Finally, the two arrived at Southland Life, where the card had taken them. The two then walked in, and up the stairs to the elevator. Eleanor leaned forward and pressed the button waiting as it came to their floor. Not too long after the elevator dinged and the two stepped in, pressing the appropriate button, then the doors began to close. But before they could fully close a hand reaches the door open.
"Wait up," came the voice of Diego as he stepped in going around the two. Then the heels clicking was heard.
"Hold it," called the voice of Allison as she stepped in and Eleanor and Five moved to make way for Klaus and Vanya who walked in. As they thought everyone was gone.
Luther squeezed in, "Excuse me."
"Good. We're all here," he said giving Eleanor a small smile as he was squished closer to her because of Luther's ginormous body.
The elevator dinged and the doors closed, the blonde looked at Five who was face to face with her and she smiled back.
Luther then grunted as he watched the number go up, from behind him, Allison sniffs and makes a grossed-out face. Klaus followed, and then everyone in the elevator made a face. Eleanor and Five reached their faces in an attempt to block out the smell.
"God Luther," Eleanor wheezed out.
"Sorry, I'm nervous," He shrugged.
As the elevator dinged again the siblings rushed out the elevator not standing for the smell anymore.
The group suddenly walked towards the table, "When dad gets here I'll do the talking," Five said as he pulled out a chair for Eleanor who was right beside him.
"I have a few questions myself," Diego said.
"Hey you don't want to scare Reggie now," Eleanor scoffed as she crossed her legs on the chair watching the siblings take their seats, "He could be our ticket home, as Five says," she told him.
"No, we need to figure out why he's planning to kill the president," he said to the blonde as he walked over and plopped next to her.
"This is a matter of life and death, you imbecile," Five insulted his brother, but stopped when the blonde gave him a look.
"Okay, yeah, maybe we should take turns talking. Yeah?" Vanya said, reaching to another table, "Here, whoever has got this conch shell gets to talk," she said as she lifted the large shell.
"Vanya, we don't have time for a debate, okay?" Five started but were cut off by Allison who grabbed the shell out of Vanya's hands.
"Maybe I should lead. We all know I'm a better public speaker than the rest," she said.
"Or you know me? I'm literally the one that knows this man," Eleanor spoke up looking at the siblings.
"Ugh, of course, Daddy's girl," Diego scoffed, “You shouldn’t even be here with your memory issues.”
Eleanor stood from her chair and cocked her head, "Oh what Jealous? Based on what all you guys say about me, I've been a favorite even when I was part of this Academy." she told Diego mockingly.
"I regret sleeping with you!" Diego seethed taking a step forward towards the girl.
But the blonde didn't back down, "Honey the only reason we slept together was because of me. I clearly have the bigger dick between you and me," She laughed taunting him.
"I won't have a problem punching a girl—"
He didn't get to finish as a first flew straight at him, causing him to stumble, "Oh what was that? I didn't hear over my fist," she spat at him, “Try me Diego, I eat boys like you breakfast,” she finished in a hiss.
Before any more could be said the doors burst open, and in came a quiet Reginald. The siblings watched as he set his stuff down, and sat, the other siblings following in suit.
His eyes traveled to the table and landed on a familiar blonde, but said nothing to her.
"Not only have you burglarized my lab, set my chimp loose, conned your way into the Mexican consulate, repeatedly stalked and attacked me, but you have, on numerous occasions, called me...."
Before he could finish Klaus pulled the chair next to him, "Hey, pop. How's it hangin'."
"...Dad..." he finished, "My reconnaissance tells me you're not CIA, not KGB, certainly not MI5, so who are they, Eleanor?" The man continued as he now formally addressed the blonde he knew. Fitting the one they didn’t want talking, was addressed first.
"They including me apparently are your children, from the future," she told the man before her, "You adopted all seven of us and trained us to be an elite family to stop the end of the world. Called them—us The Umbrella Academy." she finished based on all the information she gathered.
"Why on earth would I adopt Seven—"
"Eight," Allison corrected, "One of us isn't here."
"Dead," Diego confirmed.
Seems Eleanor forgot the other sibling.
"Yeah, ba ba ba ba, enough of that now," said Klaus, turning around to what seemed to be Ben's ghost. He turned around and signaled to continue.
"Regardless, what would possess me to adopt seven—"
"Eight—" Allison again corrected.
"I counted out Eleanor," the man stated.
"We all have special abilities," Five replied looking at the old man.
"Special? In what sense?" He asked, a bit more curious.
"In the superpower sense," Luther answered.
"Call me old-fashioned, but I'm a stickler for pesky little things called evidence," He started looking at his siblings, "show me."
"Everybody wants to see powers all of sudden," Allison scoffs, taking a sip of her drink. Of course getting bothered by a man who does’t even know them.
"We're not circus animals okay?" Luther told the man seriously, "We're not gonna bounce balls on our noses and clap our hands like a seal for your entertainment." he continued as he made the actions with his hands.
But Diego was quick to whip out a knife that went around, Reginald's head.
The man said nothing and he began writing notes in his book.
Everyone leaned forward as he did so, "What are you writing?" Diego asked the man.
"You are zero for two young man," Reginald said and caused Diego to lunge forward but Five jumped in front of him to stop him. "Stop!" Five whispered harshly at him.
"Now that is interesting," Reginald commented to Five who had appeared by Diego.
"All right, uh, quick rundown," Five began, "Luther: super strength," he began as he pointed at the large man, "Klaus: can commune with the dead," he said pointing the man on the left of Reginald, "Allison: can rumor anyone to do anything," He explains as he sits down.
"Except she never used it," Diego scoffed feeling his sister’s ability was a joke,
Allison gave him a face, "I heard a rumor you punched yourself in the face," she said and watched as Diego's eyes went white and socked himself hard on the nose, the second time today his nose being hurt.
"And you?" Reginald asked, looking at the girl next to him.
"Uh, maybe we don't take Vanya for a test run," Luther chuckled.
"Oh yeah, that's probably not a good idea," Klaus agreed
"It's fine," Vanya finally spoke up, "I can handle it."
"Handle it?" Allison asked a little afraid, "Last time you handled it, you blew up the moon."
They all became afraid as she began concentrating as she tapped her cup with a fork resonating a large high pitched noise. And she used to explode the fruit on everyone.
"Impressive," said Eleanor smiling at the girl who returned the smile.
Reginald whipped the fruit off himself and looked over at Eleanor who was picking pineapple off her blazer.
"And you Eleanor? You said you too are from the future," he asked now looking at her.
Five-spoke up for since she didn't really know much about anything, "She was your darling child," he began looking over at Eleanor, "Telekinesis, telepath, she could open portals to almost wherever and whenever she wants, and something we call The Force."
"The Force?" He asked curiously.
"If you thought Vanya was strong, she began to glow all sorts of colors, she was the one who had the power to shut Vanya's powers off. But it seems when she arrived here her memory was wiped and she couldn't use or remember them." Five answered.
The man looked over at Eleanor and somehow he had no problem believing that. Something about the way she carried herself. He always thought there was something blocking her but now he knew why. She was a powerful being. He feared someone would take them sooner or later.
"Look, we know that you're involved in a plot to assassinate the president," Diego suddenly spoke up.
Eleanor stood from her seat, "Diego," she hissed but stopped when Reginald motioned her to sit.
"You were recently hospitalized, isn't that correct? You still appear to be suffering from delusions of grandeur and acute paranoia," he stated towards the man.
"Am I?" He asked, reaching in his pocket, and taking out a photo and handing it to him, "That's you. That's two days from now on the grassy knoll at the exact spot the president's gonna get shot.
"Well, I suppose you've solved it. You single-handedly unearthed my nefarious plot. Is that what you want to hear?" Reginald spoke towards Diego who looked proud to solve his crime.
"You fancy yourself a do-gooder? The last good man who will save us from our descent into corruption and conspiracy? This is a fantastic delusion. The sad reality is that you're a desperate man, tragically unaware of his own insignificance, desperately clinging to his own ineffectual reasoning. More succinctly a man in over his head." Regionals spoke his words, each sharper than the next. Breaking down Diego with every word, to the point he was backing sitting on his chair with tears in his eyes.
"You're wr....wrong...." Diego stuttered as a tear fell cleanly from his eyes.
"Told you not to," Eleanor said leaning back on her chair with arms crossed.
"Look, forget about the president, we have a catastrophic war coming in five days. We need to figure out how to stop it," Five-spoke up moving their attention from Diego.
"War? Men will always be at war with each other," Reginald figured, and in a way he's right.
"No, this isn't just some war. I'm talking about a doomsday. The end of the world." Five responded to the man seriously.
"Well, you're the special ones, aren't you? Why don't you band together and do something about it?" He said to the group.
When suddenly Klaus' body went shaky and his arms in the air, catching everyone's attention.
"Is he having a seizure?" Allison asked suddenly.
"Overdose probably," Diego replied, not worried, trying to get himself together after Reginald’s words.
He was shaking and he turned to the man, "I'm..."
Impatient he looked at him, "Out with it boy,"
"...Ben...." he gasped and dropped to the floor.
"Well, I have seen enough," said Reginald picking up his things and getting up.
Luther spoke up, "I–" but the man was leaving, he slammed his fists on the table, tearing open his shirt, "Look what you did to me!"
Eleanor snorted and slapped her hand over her mouth, at the moment. What a way to make a statement that didn’t need to be heard.
Reginald turned to the man but didn't answer, rather he turned to the girl and Five.
"Eleanor, care to bring the one in shorts, for a word?" he said and turned around walking off. The two got up and followed the older man to the bar.
"Reggie, this is Five," she introduced stepping away as she took the time to grab her drink and move off the counter leaving them to talk. Not really caring, the young girl drank happily from her cup, that was when she felt a tap on her shoulder, she turned to see Reginald.
"Hi Reggie," she smiled.
"Now you listen to me, Eleanor," he stated, "He and this family of yours are going to need you."
"If you're talking about powers," she paused looking down at her feet, "I don't even remember my past," she finished looking at him sadly.
The man smiled, putting his hand on her shoulder, "Something tells me you will soon. I bid my farewell, my child," He told her seriously.
Eleanor nodded and pulled the man in for a hug, "Thank you for everything," she whispered as the man hugged her back.
With that, the man left the blonde and Five alone, as the two knew they had to accept whatever deal this was.
"You don't have to go with me," he told her, not knowing how well she would react to this.
"You're stuck with me now, old man," she smirked, grabbing his hand.
He looked down at their hands and nodded, "You know you're technically older than me now," he mentioned as he jumped out of the location.
Soon enough they were knocking on bright green doors, and they opened to reveal a very shiny woman.
"Ah, just in time for a nightcap," she said happily staring at the two, as she offered them drinks.
"To be clear, we take out the board, you get me and my family home. No more doomsday, no more apocalypse. Is that correct?" Five said to the woman who put down the drinks and began walking to her bed as she lay on it.
"That's the deal," she confirmed.
"Then we're in," he said as Eleanor nodded next to him.
The woman reached and handed them a piece of paper, The Lonely Lodge Inn. Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 1982.

Where had he gone ?
Loyal shadow. Trustworthy friend. Her truest companion. They were to be an inseparable duo. Something was wrong here ... they must remain together. Someone had told her so, once, in cheerful pitch, or maybe twice, again, in murderous bellow. The happy-angry face lingered at the back of mind, brilliant light shining through stained glass visage, shattered here & cracked there, beams of violet & gold crowning her head, an ever present reminder of ... of ... of what ?
The haze of grand room overwhelmed ; it was too large, the soothing scents choked, the gentle light blinded, there were too many persons here - all possessed by singular thought & passion. Their reverence plagued her, a fever upon vulnerable psyche. Young Madgod fed upon such heightened emotions, or maybe it fed upon her ? Breaking her down. A rot from the inside out that spores of madness could not immunize against. The deacons, maggots all, gnawed at delicate guts & grey matter - botflies bit, laying their eggs, leaving larvae to burrow & wiggle beneath skin. Instinct bade her to claw them out, to cleanse herself with scorching self-destructive cinders so she could be born anew again & again & again. She could not remain stagnant. Her entire existence depended on consistent change.
Unwelcome feelings were brewing. Anxiety & sinking dread ... so very out of place. Someone else was out of place, someone like her, but she could no longer differentiate his presence from all the rest. There were no unique minds here. The hivemind was absolute. Heart patters within chest, rosy cheeks gone pale with a confused misery. Something was wrong. Where was he ? Something was WRONG.
As she felt fit to burst into a thousand fluttering wings, a single touch kept her together, pulling her back into a murky sense of calm. Warm hand, large, but gentle, engulfed her in a sluggish haze of euphoria. Her panic was unneeded. Out of place. & ... readily discarded. Hand became an arm. Then another. Madgod found herself pulled into a firm, welcoming, grasp. She did not fight. She felt no need to. Instead, slender hands clawed needily at his robes, sweet face burying itself into his mass without worry ; snuffing out all pesky woes & confusion. This was better ... this was what she needed. Saint's booming heart a hypnotic pendulum, drowning out all else. She wished to remain here, uncertain why she'd ever strayed from his side. Violet & gold left her as Saintly curtain hid stained glass visage. Thoughts of loyal shadow suffocated by enveloping, consuming, arms. The man she'd sought could be no one else.
He was right here.

The Soul Eater, directed by the acclaimed duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, stands as a testament to this tradition. Released in 2024, this chilling masterpiece plunges viewers into a nightmarish world where the boundaries between reality and the supernatural blur into a terrifying abyss.
Set in a desolate countryside town shrouded in mystery, the film follows the plight of Sarah, a troubled young woman grappling with the recent loss of her parents. As she struggles to come to terms with her grief, Sarah becomes increasingly plagued by disturbing visions and inexplicable phenomena haunting her every waking moment.
Tumblr media
Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Sarah embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind the sinister forces at play. Her quest leads her to a decrepit mansion nestled deep within the woods, rumored to be the dwelling of an ancient entity known only as The Soul Eater. Legend has it that this malevolent being feeds on the souls of the living, consuming their essence to sustain its unholy existence.
As Sarah delves deeper into the mansion's dark corridors, she unearths long-buried secrets and encounters a cast of enigmatic characters, each harboring their own dark agendas. With every step she takes, Sarah edges closer to the heart of the mystery, but also closer to the brink of madness.

As the narrative hurtles towards its heart-stopping conclusion, Sarah finds herself locked in a battle for survival against forces beyond her understanding. In a final confrontation with The Soul Eater, she must confront her deepest fears and confront the darkness that threatens to consume her soul.
The Soul Eater stands as a testament to the enduring power of horror cinema, captivating audiences with its spine-chilling tale of terror and redemption. With their masterful direction and visionary storytelling, Maury and Bustillo have crafted a modern classic that will linger in the nightmares of viewers long after the credits roll.

You'll Never Find Me Review: A Riveting Tale of Mystery and Madness
Tumblr media
The independent film industry has been a breeding ground for creative narratives and original takes of widely recognized horror clichés. Enter You'll Never Find Me, directed by the promising duo Indianna Bell and Josiah Allen. With a script penned by Bell, the film presents a gripping narrative set against the backdrop of an isolated caravan park. At its core, it explores themes of loneliness, perception, and the human psyche's fragility. Although You'll Never Find Me demonstrates considerable merit and artistic intent, it doesn't quite transcend its genre's confines to deliver a wholly unforgettable experience. Nevertheless, it warrants a watch for its compelling narrative, atmospheric tension, and thought-provoking execution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJGFdGx-cjw The film introduces us to Patrick, played with unsettling authenticity by Brendan Rock. Patrick is an enigmatic figure, living a solitary existence in his mobile home. His portrayal exudes a discomforting aura that permeates the film, capturing the audience's intrigue from the outset. Rock's performance is one of the film's strongest assets, navigating a complex character arc with skillful subtlety. On a stormy night, the narrative introduces its pivotal turn when Jordan Cowan's character, simply known as The Visitor, seeks refuge at Patrick's doorstep. Cowan delivers a commendable performance, balancing vulnerability and curiosity in equal measure. Her chemistry with Rock is palpable, setting the stage for a psychological dance that is both captivating and distressing. Bell and Allen's direction is marked by meticulous attention to atmosphere. The claustrophobic setting of the caravan park, coupled with the relentless thunderstorm, creates a palpable sense of unease. This ambiance serves as a character in its own right, shaping the narrative's mood and pacing. However, at times, the film's reliance on atmospheric tension overshadows its potential for deeper character development, leaving some emotional beats feeling somewhat unearned. The script, crafted by Bell, is a labyrinthine exploration of themes like isolation and the subjective nature of reality. The dialogue oscillates between cryptic and revealing, inviting viewers to piece together the puzzle alongside the characters. While the screenplay is ambitious in its scope, it occasionally falters in delivering clarity, which might leave some audiences craving a more tangible resolution. Nevertheless, it's this very ambiguity that fuels the film's enigmatic appeal, encouraging multiple viewers to grasp its nuances fully. You'll Never Find Me excels in its technical execution. The cinematography by Maxx Corkindale is striking, utilizing the natural darkness of the storm and the limited confines of the caravan to create a visual metaphor for Patrick's and The Visitor's psychological entrapment. The film's score, composed by Darren Lim, is another highlight, blending seamlessly with the onscreen events to enhance the overall sense of foreboding. However, the film is not without its drawbacks. Its pacing, while deliberate, sometimes veers into the realm of the sluggish. This is most particularly in the second act where the narrative seems to tread water. Additionally, some may find the film's conclusion polarizing. The climax, although undoubtedly thought-provoking, might come off as abrupt to those yearning for a more concrete resolution. Despite these criticisms, You'll Never Find Me stands as a testament to Bell and Allen's directorial prowess and vision. It's a film that dares to venture into the abyss of the human mind, asking questions that are as unsettling as they are unanswerable. It showcases a promising new voice in horror that isn't afraid to experiment and provoke. Brendan Rock's portrayal of Patrick is the film's linchpin. He delivers a nuanced performance that straddles the line between sympathetic and sinister. Jordan Cowan's The Visitor serves as the perfect foil, embodying the audience's confusion and curiosity. Together, they anchor the film's thematic explorations in a way that is both engaging and eerie. You'll Never Find Me is a noteworthy addition to the indie horror landscape. While it might not redefine the genre, it undeniably marks Indianna Bell and Josiah Allen as filmmakers to watch. The film's deliberate pacing, atmospheric tension, and philosophical underpinnings offer a refreshing albeit imperfect experience for horror enthusiasts. Its ability to linger in the viewer's mind long after the credits roll is a testament to its impactful storytelling and thematic depth. Despite some pacing issues and a conclusion that may not satisfy all, You'll Never Find Me is a compelling watch for its audacity, performance, and atmospheric mastery. It's a reminder that horror can be as much about the monsters within as the ones lurking in the shadows. Read the full article

PIGEON WIGS NEW MINI-ALBUM 'ROCK BY NUMBERS'
Cardiff’s PIGEON WIGS release their eagerly awaited mini-album ‘Rock By Numbers’.
An amorphous box of tricks that shape-shifts between psych, blues and indie rock with seamless time-warping chic, the quintet are also pleased to present one of its standout moments: “Iron Dynamite”.
The final track to be spotlighted from the record, “Iron Dynamite” is a whimsical, merry-go-round of 60s-indebted psychelia to rival the Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarm Clock, or frankly anything to be heard on the seminal ‘Nuggets’ compilation.
Revolving around a guitar lick as slick as a new pair of winkle-pickers on Carnaby Street in 1967, the riff was conjured by the band’s Louis Jugessur as he tried to emulate the vintage grooves of the hit ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’ by fellow Pontypridd legend Tom Jones. Instantly plugging-in to its psychedelic vibe, frontman Harry Franklin-Williams assembled a kaleidoscopic spiral of words at once in-tune with the track and just a little removed from reality... As Harry explains:“Iron Dynamite is probably my favourite song of the record lyrically, Louis wrote such a psychedelic riff and I wanted to build on that as much as I could. I made a Jenga tower out of 60s-inspired metaphors and muso-nerd references that still never fails to put a smile on my face. The verses are swirling psych with a portion of madness while the chorus is much more your classic 60s pop lyrics, simple and direct but with my trademark cynicism at the end, “it’s just another line”.”
“Iron Dynamite” arrives hot on the heels of recent singles including the Rolling Stones saluting “Radiation Blues” and the wormhole whirlwind that is “Hold Up!”; drawing attention from the likes of Louder Than War, The Independent, The Rodeo, and The Line of Best Fit, with the latter praising “[Pigeon Wigs are] now in full force in bringing their vision to life: a hybrid, retro/futuristic, psychedelic-shaded sound.”
These singles are just the tip of a knickerbocker glory of delights waiting to be scooped out of their first mini-album release ‘Rock By Numbers’ (out today, via Clwb Music). Recorded before Pigeon Wigs had played a single gig, the duo of Jugessur and Franklin-Williams wrote the mini-album over the course of just a few weeks. Making for an impressively accomplished debut release that spans alternative rock references from across the ages, the band say they just wanted to “arrive on the scene fully-formed, like a baby with a moustache or furniture not from IKEA”. The 11-track record was produced and mixed by the esteemed Tom Rees of fellow Cardiff band Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard.
Speaking about the mini-album on the day of its release, the band’s axeman-in-chief Louis Jugessur expresses:
“It means a lot to release Rock By Numbers because it’s been in the pipeline for so long, we’ve had so many hurdles in the way but now it’s finally getting out there. I’m really proud of what we’ve written, it feels like one solid body of work where all the pieces fit together to paint a pretty lil picture”.
While frontman Harry Franklin-Williams adds:
“Through a series of funding delays, rescheduling meetings, and global catastrophe we have waded, to be coming out on the other side is akin to drinking fresh water after being lost in the desert or that moment you realise both nostrils are clear after an especially bad cold. This is only the beginning, you ain't seen nothing yet."
PIGEON WIGS - UK LIVE DATES
AUGUST
05/08/23 - Newport, Le Pub headline
17/08/23 - Green Man Festival
25/08/23 - Shambala Festival
Newly sprung from the fertile soil of Cardiff’s blossoming music scene, Pigeon Wigs are a five-piece alt-rock band whose riff-laden fuzzy tones and melodic harmonies come crashing together to form a wild beast like no other. Tackling everything from social commentary to dysfunctional relationships and alien abductions, the band was born out of a writing partnership between Harry Franklin-Williams and Louis Jugessur and came to life when the pair “corralled some of Cardiff’s finest to record a new project”.
Having already attracted glowing praise from the likes of BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Wales, Pigeon Wigs have gained glowing reviews from a range of alt-rock contemporaries such as Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and Panic Shack who enthused: “all of Jagger’s love-children couldn’t write a better banger than this.”
