My Legendborn Cycle Musings & Theories
May 2023 is when I first got into this series and I've been hooked ever since. I've read Legendborn and Bloodmarked at least twice and I have some thoughts about the books and series in general. So without further ado:
Spoilers ahead!
First of all, I'm glad I waited to make this post because recently more information has been revealed about the next upcoming book (Oathbound), and that instead of the series being a trilogy of books it'll be a tetralogy (4 part book series).
Oathbound
I strongly believe that the Shadow Court is definitely going to be unleashed that was part of the bargain Bree made with the Shadow King after all.
Vera’s warning to Bree at the end of Bloodmarked: “Chaos thrives on imbalance.” In Oathbound, is Bree going to become villainous or corrupted in some form? Since she doesn’t have her ancestors to balance or influence her since she closed the ancestral stream?
Since the third book is called Oathbound I wonder if this means oaths will be broken or removed. Obviously, Natasia's Kingsmage Oath to Martin Davis had to have been removed. Could the same thing happen possibly between Nick and Sel?
At the end of Bloodmarked, the main trio: Bree, Nick, and Sel have become separated. Since this is Bree's story first and foremost I think the book will still only be from Briana's point of view. I don't think we'll be getting multiple points of view. However, I'm not quite sure.
Selwyn Emrys Kane
There’s more to Selwyn Kane than meets the eye. One of the main themes in the Legendborn Cycle is ancestry and inheritance.
Theory 1: Erebus (the Shadow King) is Selwyn’s father. Erebus is described as a father-like figure towards Sel and he has a history and a clear fondness for Natasia (He knew where she was at the end of Bloodmarked). However, we know that the Order supposedly monitored Natasia closely while they ensured she gave birth to an heir. Obviously, since both her and Sel are powerful Merlins there must be more to discover about their bloodline. Also, it is mentioned how closely Sel resembles Merlin his ancestor not only in appearance but also in mannerisms. Sel is a prodigy and has the rare ability to transform into an Owl like his ancestor Merlin. Not to mention, the skill he used to craft aether constructs to hold Bree together after her injury which isn’t easy to do and most likely would’ve killed other Merlins attempting to do it.
Theory 2: Maybe Selwyn’s bloodline has ancestral ties to someone on the Shadow Court.
Nicholas Martin Davis
He's going to be leading the faction of the Order that's still loyal to the Knights of the Round Table.
Maybe he'll continue to forge a further alliance with the Line of Morgaine. Nick will then be further exposed to how they live and maneuver outside of the Order. He is trying to find a solution to stop the Legendborn Cycle without the Scion of Arthur having to die. In Bloodmarked, he found something out but he didn't get to elaborate on it further.
In General
I think the relationship between Sel and William is underrated.
There’s still much we don’t know about Cambions and unions. So far, we know:
Full Demon + Human = Cambion
Human + Cambion = Cambion
But what about: Full Demon + Cambion = ?
Cambion + Cambion = ?
Are these unions even possible or allowed and could they produce offspring?
On the cover of Bloodmarked, I think Bree is wearing the outfit that she wore during the Rite of Kings ceremony.
Valechaz is clearly enamored and fascinated with Bree and he's such a wildcard. Valec at times can also be hard to read. Will he be a friend or foe going forward?
This may be an unpopular opinion, but in terms of a TV series adaptation of the Legendborn Cycle, I would prefer that it be an animated TV series rather than a live-action series.

i’ve decided that in my (super cool and much better) version of boy meets world, cory and shawn would get together in college. topanga would go to yale (as she should have) and leave cory a mess. he would have no clue what to do with himself and claim that he’s given up on dating. turns out, he likes not dating girls so much better than dating them.
it takes him a bit longer to realize he’s gay, though. i figure that he’d probably start to realize it when talking to a guy at a bar or party or something (or more realistically, his study buddy) and not realize that the guy was flirting with him because he’s a stupid little gay boy that makes me, a lesbian, homophobic. when the guy kisses him, cory either lowkey goes into shock or is like huh. interesting. and keeps kissing him.
i think either way cory would keep kissing guys as “experimentation” but eventually just be like fuck it we ball i’m gay now after accidentally ending up in a gay bar and being like yeah these are my people.
because, again, cory is a stupid little gay boy, it was take him a bit longer than that to realize he’s in love with shawn but once he figures it out he knows he’s stupid for taking that long to do so. like of course it’s shawn! shawn is the perfect best friend to fall in gay love with! he has incredible hair and a traumatic backstory!
he laments to eric and jack about this and about how stupid and lonely he is and how shawn will never love him back and eric’s like dude even i know you guys are married and cory’s like oh my god we are married! shawn and i are gay! and so cory goes up to shawn and declares, “shawn, we’re gay!”
there are two possible shawn reactions.
reaction #1: “cory what we’re not gay.” cory kisses him. “oh fuck cory we’re gay.”
reaction #2: shawn thinks cory is fucking with him and runs off and it’s really dramatic but they kiss mwah yay the end
either way they live happily ever after mwah kissy kissy i love you

Zoey 101 (I took over the show while DS can go sit in a far away cave. I do NOT own anything and this is strictly a fictional perspective if there were a season 5 leading up to the post 15 years reboot). (also, this would be rated TV-14).
All episodes are now 48 minutes instead of 28 (so an hour instead of 30 mins).
PCA 101
Season 5 Episode 1: Its My Party pt 1.
Plot A: With senior year kicking off at Pacific Coast Academy, and a mysterious summer downfall; Zoey is dreading it all. 🙍🏼♀️
Plot B: Michael, James Vince, Logan heck even DelFigalo throw a secret guys soirée while Lola and Quinn decide to spy on them.
Season 5 Episode 2: It’s My Party pt 2.
Plot A: Despite Zoeys fallout with her friends, she meets the new guy Ty (Daniel Kelly) and finds comfort in his ways of escape. 🚬🌿
Plot B: After revealing a scandalous game of never have I ever, Quinn and Lola have no choice but to warn Lisa about Michael’s summer secret. 🇫🇷👩🏼🦰
Season 5 Episode 3: Turn Out the Light
Plot A: Chase may be in England but what happens when he reunites with an old classmate at Covington Prep? (Kristin Herrera)
Plot B: Logan and Quinn are celebrating their early acceptance into university, but mutually agree to live up their senior year. 🤝🏼❤️🪂
Season 5 Episode 4: I’m Okay
Plot A: Rumors are swirling around PCA about a potential investigation. With Dean Rivers nowhere to be found, there’s been interesting activity on campus.
• Michael Barrett who is now student president of PCA secretly approves incoming freshmen to extend curfew at the “welcome to upper school beach bash.” This leads Dustin finding himself in a pickle when he hits it off with a transfer student without being aware he’s been talking to twins! (Rebecca and Camilla Rosso)
• Zoey Lola and Quinn have a girls night in, only for Zoey to sneak out with Ty while his roommates are out.
• Ending scene goes back to England where Dana and Chase are in his room catching up on life. They kiss, the episode ends.
Season 5 Episode 5: Don’t Know Why
Plot A: Things between Logan and Quinn have been nothing but amazing, until the week of required sex education. One’s curious while the other wants to but is deep down nervous.
Plot B: Lola has been hiding her early acceptance into Juliard. What happens when Vince finds out before she tells him?
Plot C: Chase tell’s Michael about his senior fling with Dana, but swears it remains between the 2 of them.
Season 5 Episode 6: She’s No You
Plot A: Zoey Brooks is the girl who has it all together. Everyone goes to her, she’s that “it” girl, and guys would kill to be her plus 1! This years been turned upside down. After Quinn finds a pregnancy test in their trash can, she confronts a fatigued looking Zoey and encourages her to go to the clinic down PSH. (Ty should probably get himself checked too)
Plot B: Logan warns Dustin that dating twins behind each others backs is wrong and that it won’t end well. Will Dustin take his advice, or will Monica and Lauren find out first?
Minisodes:
1: Quogan study session plus too many! (9 minutes)
Quinn and Logan are wrapping up on studying for their midterms, but afterwards Logan has planned a cozy movie night for the 2 of them. Maybe the lounge wasn’t a wise idea? Lights are out at 10, but soon comes Lola, Michael, Ty and Vince! What Quinnvention is going to be revealed to get them out of this ordeal? 😉
2: And this years Homecoming king and queen is…🇬🇧 (9 minutes)
Covington Preparatory School has homecoming! Chase and Dana have been enjoying each other’s company while he’s trying to move on from Zoey and she’s up for whatever adventure. Though the 2 go together as a casual couple neither were expecting to be crowned King and Queen! Dana reveals in her speech that Chase is the greatest guy there ever is and she’s lucky to have reconnected with him for their last year of high school.
Though they enjoy each other’s company, they reveal to each other during their dance that it’s best to remain close friends and part ways romantically. Both mutually in agreement they dance the night away! 😊
3. iwonacontest (iCarly crossover) (10 minuktes)
Stacey Dillsen and the butterfly she is has won a contest through Carly Shay and Sam Pucketts web sensational art contest. There’s just 1 problem: Stacey is locked in the bathroom. The live video chat is in 10 minutes!!! But fear not Mark DelFigalo to the rescue! Until she can get out Carly Sam and Spencer get to talk with Mark! “Wait iCarly? What am I supposed to say? I don’t know anything about it.” 🤣
As I said, this is all strictly fictional and in no way real. I plan on doing episodes 7-14 at some point but I wanted to connect this with the sequel as best as possible. How else would Danielle have known about Dana? I think if Chase returned to Covington, and Dana studying over seas is a fair connection 😉
I don’t really want to add any real drama between Logan and Quinn as they lasted 15 years…this is more about them navigating their new chapter as a teenage couple. The drama is all saved for Zoey. And adding a new male character (I used to love Owen Milligan on Degrassi) who’s more of an escape rather than a love interest spices things up!
As much as I loved Micheal and Lisa I think like many teenage boys, it’s fair to have him make a big error over the summer and have to learn from it. (He definitely had a fling with a random French girl while doing a summer program). Lisa still thrived and is the sweet boss she is though 😉 plus his time to shine is seen all over campus as the student president!
Dustin…he’s gonna have to figure this one or two out. Lol.
Lola and Vince don’t last, but that’s okay because they kinda had their time to shine season 4 and are headed separate ways.
Stacey and Mark are strictly side characters who pop up quite a bit throughout the season.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments! But please be respectful and appropriate 🙂

there is too much of matthew in me. he and i are kindred spirits down to our bones. there's this intuitive understanding that i have for everything he says, everything he does, that i have never felt before with a character. he is my character. he is my other self. so much so that it sometimes hurts. it's not just that our personalities are so similar. our needs, our dreams, our ambitions, they are twins. matthew and i are two souls in two worlds gazing through a looking glass, putting our hands up to its reflective surface, and watching the other move in tandem with our own movements
