It had not been the best week of Nina’s life.

She’d been captured by Fjerdans, nearly drowned in a shipwreck and was now on the brink of hypothermia, stuck in a stinking hut in the middle of an icy wilderness with nothing but an angry Druskelle for company.

Can I just say that all the characters in Six of Crows are just so perfectly written that it bothers me?

Matthias & Nina: enemies to lovers, know when they need each other even when they can’t stand the other, individually both amazing and complex characters with such compelling motives

Kaz: traumatized as a kid, phobia of skin-to-skin contact but tries to overcome that by letting in a girl he has a crush on, very driven by vengeance and rightfully so

Inej: also traumatized, forced into prostitution tries to overcome that by forcing herself to be brave, the glue of the gang, but what I love most about her is her serenity (her faith, her sayings, she’s always calm)

Jesper & Wylan: their banter is *chef’s kiss* adorable, by far the happiest part of this story to me, my heart just wants to smile when I read about them

Jesper: has a serious gambling problem which is addressed multiple times and I thank Bardugo for this amazing real trait

Wylan: probably the most relatable character?? Just a kid who has daddy issues and isn’t fairly treated, neither by father, nor by the Crows (at first)

The only thing that I would change are some of their ages, which, for once, I’m happy netflix is doing. Kaz created his own gang at the age of 12 (??) which isn’t something that sounds realistic to me.

But not only are these characters individually so perfectly written, it is their dynamics with each other that gives it the finishing touch
