Smooth-head blobfish!

They live so deep down, between 600 and 1 200 meters deep (2 000 and 3 900 feet), that having a gas-filled swim bladder like other fish wouldn't be very effective. To maintain buoyancy, blobfish instead have a large portion of their flesh consist of a gelatinous substance that is only slightly less dense than water! This allows them to float and swim just above the seafloor with ease.

Here are screenshots of what we could find on the official American website on May 27th, 2017, between an invitation to watch the Announce Trailer, some news, and a link to pre-order Far Cry 5 (which, at the time, was scheduled to come out on February 27th, 2018). For the first time, there was information about the game:

THE CULT Whether through coercion, starvation or forced baptisms, this fanatical cult will use every resource available to build a following in preparation of The Collapse.

THE RESISTANCE Committed to restoring freedom to Hope County, The Resistance has rallied together in order to stop the Father and his followers. And they’ll only succeed with your help.

TOYS From shotguns to slingshots, plus a few trusty farm tools, this toy chest is stocked, locked and loaded with every piece of steel you’ll need to take down the Cult.

GAME FEATURES There's no shortage of mayhem to be had in Hope County. Between June 10th and June 17th, 2017, two of the images (for The Cult and Toys) were replaced:

What I mostly wanted to “Learn More” about were the Story & Characters, but there was interesting information on the Game Features page as well.

Commentary

The initial description of the cult said the “coercion, starvation or forced baptisms” were ways for them to “build a following in preparation of The Collapse”. This is still close to what we see in Far Cry 5, but they already had a following when the Reaping began and the open violence started. The vast majority of the cultists we encounter in the game joined because they had faith in Joseph, not because they were forced to. NPC dialog from the E3 2017 demo suggests, like this text, that the early version of Eden’s Gate wouldn’t hesitate to literally beat people into following and believing in the Father long before the Reaping began.

Do you collect vinyl? What are your favourite records that you own?

I DO and so many! I have hundreds and I got rid of like a third of my collection a few years ago so the result is that everything I still have is something I actually really want. It's funny I just moved all of them from one place to another like 2 hours ago (not a common occurrence) so I was looking at some random ones on the way like ooh hey you... oh and that, and this! But for us I'll go with a few that will ping for people here, which are number one the Louis Just Hold On rock version single with lyrics etched in the B side which was not sold in the US and it was SUCH A HASSLE to get without paying a million dollars for it but I CHERISH IT (even though it's not that great a recording of the song :/) and the hot pink 2LP Icarus Falls, that album is so dear to me and I wanted to own a physical copy of it so bad but it didn't come out on vinyl at release but then randomly years later it did?!? It's beautiful and it's the way the album is supposed to be with the two halves separated, perfect, listening to just the Falls half is transcendent honestly. Also the Sign of the Times single, and signed Walls, but I will forever regret not getting the Lights Up single I want it so bad :(

#they way I finally got the JHO single: bought a bundle of a bunch of stuff including it from australia for like $200 #then resold the other things in the bundle (shirt picture disc other versions of walls I forget what all...)#but kept that. it worked out. but the distance it all traveled! the records all flying back and forth all over the world! the ts of records #if anyone wants to trade me smth for a lights up single I got stuff!!!! The original idea was supposed to be a funny one, with of course lots of tears (of joy). The creator however went "sike! It's all angsty now! :3" and this happened.

Throughout DP, Zoey reassures Dawn multiple times with things like "How could I not be nervous? It's the Grand Festival" and "To be honest, I was nervous I wasn't gonna make it through the appeal round" (paraphrased).

But as a viewer from Dawn's perspective, I don't buy it. Because as far as I can remember, she never has any major flaws in her appeals/battle strategies, she's so confident and collected, and things almost always work out for her. So I imagine that at some point, Zoey empathizes Dawn again, and Dawn is flat-out like, "I don't believe you."

So, fic concept where Zoey enters Super Rank contests immediately after DP, because she thinks pushing herself is the way to get better. Except, she gets decimated early on. Solidad and Lisia defeat her. Perhaps she even gets knocked out of an appeal round. Turns out, she'd gotten too comfortable breezing through Normal Rank contests. Now, all her competitors are as good or better than her, their strategies sophisticated and fine-tuned in ways she can't predict. It's quite an adjustment.

But, her real downfall is her self-imposed need to put on a brave face for everyone. To feign optimism in front of Solidad, who offers to train with her, because she doesn't want to admit her weakness to seasoned coordinators (or herself). To ignore Dawn and Candice's calls, because she can't bear to admit to them that she might be struggling. Nope, surely if she just keeps thinking rationally and powering through, she'll find her footing among the crowd. It's not quite Dawn's loud "no need to worry" attitude, but because she's not being honest and forgiving of herself, it becomes self-sabotaging and drives her to a breaking point.

I'm not sure how this fic would end - perhaps Zoey decides that she needs to quit this circuit early and take a break for herself, and she travels to a new region to get some fresh perspective? Or, with support from Dawn, Glameow, and others, she's able to sit with her feelings, forgive herself, and get back on her feet a bit? Either way, Dawn seeing that Zoey isn't perfect, and loving her anyway and supporting her through her struggles, would be fundamental to this fic!

Just had the idea of doing a Roxy askblog that's based on it being a secret blog she's not allowed to have and every so often if someone asks her something she just says stuff like "To the Fazspy reading this, I'm not the real Roxy." to try and throw the staff off her trail lmao

Then Linda falls into the ugly ass rats trap and they get married.

There is my crazy thing on why David and Brenda look so hot and there 'father' looks like he was dropped into a skip the second he was born because he was so horrible to look at.
