Whispers of the night-Lloyd Garmadon x F!reader

Hi, this will become a new series, I’ve never done a series on Tumbler, only Wattpad and AO3, but I’ll probably add some of those series on her aswell, not the long ones, though.

I’ll add this series to both those platforms somewhere this month, but I’ll probably change the name cuz I don’t like this one that much.

Summary: y/n is your typical rebelling teen, sneaking out, ignoring her parent requests, stealing snacks from shops, skipping school. People who are like her, people with powers, normally do good, like the ninja, she likes to live a quite, but not so quite life.

Like that, she ignores the power she holds, she holds the power of illusion, she does not keep it a secret form her friends, though doesn’t like to talk about it much with people outside her friend group.

Her power isn’t unknown, so, of course, she did get an invitation to the tournament of elements, but she never attended, having promised herself she would live a quite, normal, teenager life.

That changes when a certain green ninja enters her life.

“Yes! Perfect, Millie!” Y/n clapped as the friend group cheered. The eight of them spent most of their free time in the skate park in Ninjago city.

It only had a pole, bank, pit and a halfpipe (which they where currently sitting on) but it would do, if they needed more like a stair railing, they’d go to other parts of the city.

Amelia landed on Y/n’s right side with a cocky smirk. Next to her sat Anthony while Luna stood behind them.

It was a sunny Wednesday, one of the last sunny days they where expecting, as it was late September.

“Alright, now copy that.” Amelia patted Y/n on the back and the girl got up, “I’ll destroy you, Cooper.” She said with slightly narrowed eyes and a smirk.

She picked up her skateboard, the bottom decorated with small doodles she made herself, but also some made by her friends, names included.

“Want me to film you?” Flora called from the other side of the halfpipe. “Sure!” Y/n called back, getting into position.

When she got the thumbs up from Flora, she shifted her weight and took off, getting cheered on by the others while Amelia jokingly yelled “boo!”

The six Ninja had the afternoon for themselves, having trained in the morning and decided on spending some time in the local park.

They walked past the skatepark and Lloyd looked over to see what the people there where up to. There was a girl with h/c hair soaring on her skateboard while being cheered on.

She was really beautiful.

“What ya looking at?” Kai looked at the direction Lloyd was looking at and smirked. “Watching the pretty skate girls?” He teased making Lloyds cheeks slightly heat up before protesting, making the others laugh.

“Good enough for you?” Y/n cocked a brow at Amelia who grinned. “More then enough.” She said. Flora, Arthur and Charlie, who had been on the other side, climbed onto their side.

“Who’s getting drinks?” Y/n heard Charlie ask, she had registered what he said to late, and when she looked up, everyone had a finger on their nose.

“Fine,” she grumbled, making the others chuckle. She wrote down what everyone wanted and waved before heading to the food and drink stall not far away.

When she arrived there she smiled at the boy with blonde hair that stood there, seeming to wait for his order.

He smiled back and she heard chuckling behind them. He turned around and shot his friends who stood not far away a glare.

“Good afternoon, how may I help you?” The teenager behind the register asked and Y/n smiled kindly.

“Hello,” she greeted. “Could I please have two cokes, a strawberry shake, one lemonade, one ice-tea, two passion fruit shakes and a ginger beer?” She asked and the girl nodded with a polite smile.

“Was that all?” She questioned. “Yes, that was it.” She answered and pulled out her card. “That would be eighteen fourth five,”

Y/n payed for the drinks and waited next to the boy who was tapping his foot on the ground a bit impatiently.

She couldn’t help but notice how cute he was. Blonde hair that was shining in the sun, light freckles on his face, bright green eyes and she couldn’t help but see he worked out daily.

Feeling he stare, he looked at her and smiled kindly, making her quickly look the other way.

He was then handed his drinks, and walked of after giving her a polite nod.

When she received her drinks aswel, she walked back to her friends who excitedly ran over and all took their own drinks.

Lloyd handed everyone their drinks and they smirked at him. “What?” He asked, taking his own drink in his hands.

“She was totally checking you out man!” Cole said, pushing Lloyds shoulder slightly, and if it wouldn’t have been for his own super strength, he would’ve fallen over.

“Who was?” He asked confused, making the others exchange baffled glances. “That pretty skater girl, obviously.” Kai rolled his eyes.

“No she was not!” Lloyd pointed out and Nya sighed. “Lloyd, I think it’s time we get your eyes checked.” She said disappointedly, making the others laugh.

“But come on dude, you can’t tell me she isn’t pretty, right?” Kai poked Lloyds arm making the green ninja chuckle. “She is, really pretty indeed.” He admitted.

The group had decided to make their way to James’ house as he had a huge backyard. Still sipping on their drinks, they walked to the entrance to the park.

Well, except for Luna, who was standing on her skateboard while holding onto Arthur, casually looking at her phone while being pulled forwards.

“Hey, is that the guy from the stand?” Amelia suddenly pointed to a group of friends who where standing in the shadow of a tree.

Amongst them indeed the boy Y/n had stood next to and mentioned to her friends.

Embarrassed, she quickly pulled her friends arm down as three of the boys looked their way, Amelia being rather loud.

“Millie!” Y/n hissed making her friends laugh.

“Hey, wait!” They turned to someone approaching them. “Hello?” Anthony raised an eyebrow at the guy standing in front of them.

“Hi,” he pointed his attention to Y/n, “I’m Kai and my friend over there,” he pointed at the blonde boy from earlier who looked mortified. “He thinks you’re really pretty and wants your number.” He said and Y/n gave an amused smirk while Flora and Amelia giggled.

Y/n tilted her head to the side to look at the blond boy who seemed to be scolding one of his friends with black hair.

“Sure, why not?” She smiled and looked over at Charles.

“Charlie, can I have the sticky notes and a pen?” She asked and he smirked and handed them over.

She wrote her number down and her name right under it. “Here, give that to your handsome friend.” She winked as she gave it before Kai thanked her and took off again.

“Damn N/n, you just got yourself boyfriend.” Luna teased with a smirk making Y/n give her a look. “It’s just a number, Lu.” She said, making her friends protest.

“Why did you have to dare him to do that?” Lloyd pointed an accusing finger at Cole who could only laugh.

Kai had jogged back over and everyone looked at him expecting and he gave Lloyd the sticky note with her name and number.

��Y/n, huh?” He read with a small smirk, having not expected to actually get her number.

“Mhm, and, her words where ‘give that to your handsome friend’ so I think you just got yourself a maybe girlfriend.” Kai said and Lloyd knew at that moment he was in for a lot of teasing for the rest of the day.

“I’m home!” Y/n closed the door behind her and walked into her house. It was almost 10 so she was surprised to see her little brother still on the couch.

She walked past and pushed the hood of his hoody over his head and he let out an angry yelp.

“Mooomm, Y/n’s bullying me!” He called out and their mother poked her head out of the kitchen. “Y/n?” She gave her eldest daughter a look making her smirk.

“Why’s he still up?” She entered the kitchen, taking an apple out of the fruit basket. “He’s free from school tomorrow so I allowed him to stay up late tonight.” Her mother said, rolling out dough to make cookies while Y/n took a bite of her apple.

“He’s literally six,” she swallowed her apple. “You didn’t allow me to stay up this late when I was that age.” She said

“Well this is different… kind of, but it’s just one time, I hope it won’t get to his head.” Her mother shook her head making Y/n chuckle.

“If it does it’s a you problem,” she threw the remains of her apple away and snatched her phone form the table.

“I’m heading out around 12, Charlie, Luna, Millie and I are going for a movie and then we’ll see what we’re going to do,” she looked at her phone.

“Hold up young lady, while that sounds fun, there has been a lot going on around the city again, I don’t want you going out at night.” He mother said making her groan.

“Come on mom, nothings going to happen, the ninja and police can handle it, it’s not that big of a threat anyway.” She waved it off. “Y/n!” Her mother said sternly and she groaned.

“Fine.” She left the kitchen and headed up the stairs with a scowl.

The ding of her phone made her look back at her screen.

After ten minutes, Y/n could hear her mother softly snoring in her room and she could still hear the tv downstairs, hoping that was enough distraction for her snitching little brother.

She opened her window softly and sat on the window sill. She took en deep breath and jumped down, landing on the grass in their front yard.

She grabbed the broom that stood agains the wall of the house and used it to push her window closed.

Y/n chuckled and grabbed her skateboard before making her way to the city centrum.

She put in her headphones and blasted music, making the noice of her surroundings disappear into the background.

At arrival, she smirks at her friends who get up at the sight of her.

“N/n!” Amelia cheers as she pulls her into an excited hug. “So Lu just checked on her phone, and there are four seats free in some sort of horror movie, so if we sneak in, we can watch it no problem.” She explains.

“Sure yeah, I can fix that.” Y/n grins, and with a snap of her fingers, they disappeared to the crowds eye.

“Holy shit what happened?” Charlie says panicked. “Illusions Charlie!” Luna hit his shoulder. “Oh, right.”

After four years, Charlie still can’t get used to Y/n having these powers, so whenever she uses them, he believes in the illusion making him see them.

If one does belief the illusion is really there and not an illusion, they just see what Y/n wants them to see, but if they realise what she’s doing, the illusion disappears for their eyes.

“Let’s go then, and uh, stay silent.” She says and her friends follow her, making sure to not walk into someone.

They got into the theater easily, it was still quite empty so when they sat, y/n could change them back and they snickered.

When the movie ended, they snuck out again.

“I can’t believe you actually got scared!” Y/n and Luna where laughing while Amelia cursed at them. She had screamed multiple times. Charlie just followed them with an amused grin.

Lloyd Hansen’s men wisely gave him a wide berth as he ran for the SUV. His driver’s eyes were wide when he climbed into the back, bleeding like a stuck pig. He didn’t give a shit about the jacket and turtleneck ruined by the shot. The blood running down his white slacks? That pissed him off.

Fucking looks like I forgot my maxi pad.

The driver got the vehicle moving, eyeing him in the mirror every few seconds.

“You good, boss?” he asked in a rare show of bravery.

Lloyd had to laugh, using the heel of his hand to put pressure on the wound to staunch the bleeding. There was no exit wound. The round was still in his fucking shoulder, and he was really hoping it wasn’t a hollow point she got him with.

“Just get me back to the house,” Lloyd directed.

“Who shot you, sir?”

Lloyd shook his head. Yeah, his chest and shoulder hurt like a bitch, but he had to appreciate the totally ludicrous fucking situation.

“Mrs. Rogers shot me,” he told the man with a smirk.

With that, the driver’s gaze went back to the road and stayed. Oh, Lloyd knew most of the men who worked for him were too afraid to react to most things he said. What if their reaction was the wrong one? It made him happy they felt that way. That they feared him. Once in a while when they were fairly confident in their answers, he’d unload on them. Sometimes the attack was verbal. Sometimes it was physical.

Either way, it kept them on their toes.

They reached his place in minutes, his driver pulling into the garage. Lloyd climbed out, the pain in his shoulder and chest worse. He’d have to dig out the fucking bullet, take something for the pain.

“Sir, did you want any… company tonight?” His driver pulled the door further open for him, not meeting his gaze. “Probably don’t feel like it after that.”

Was that a challenge? Lloyd couldn’t have his men thinking he was weak now, could he? Vulnerable? Fuck that.

Besides, Lloyd knew just what he was in the mood for.

“I would like some company,” he told his driver. “Someone special.”

The driver’s gaze met him, perked up and eager to please. “Want me to bring you Milly?”

The girl was a local. Milly didn’t work the streets. She kept a small list of regular clients, and she was one of the rare few who would negotiate for the little extras he required. It was tempting and she was a very good actress most of the time.

Lloyd just wasn’t in the mood for role play. He wanted something authentic.

Lloyd shook his head. “No, bring me the girl from the donut shop. You know the one.”

His driver wasn’t expecting him to say that. The man’s mouth dropped open and then he closed it.

“Something to say, Harry?” Lloyd taunted him.

“She’s not…” Harry’s voice shook. It was satisfying. “She’s not a professional.”

Lloyd walked around him to the side door of his house. “I’m aware. Go get her.”

“Yes, sir.” The reply didn’t sound confident.

Lloyd really didn’t give a shit.

Leaving Harry to bring him his treat, he wandered into his house, flipping on lights as he went and swearing at the trail of blood he was leaving across the floor as he went. Making it to his guest bathroom because it was closest, he flipped on the bright light and winced. When he took in his reflection in the mirror, Lloyd blew out an exhale. He’d looked better.

Stripping off the jacket and shirt, he took in the bullet wound, still seeping blood.

Mrs. Rogers got him good.

Lloyd chuckled as he reached under the sink, pulled out the medical kit he kept there. He gave himself a local anesthetic to take the edge off and sterilized the forceps while he waited for it to kick in. It took some doing but the bullet came out in one piece. It nicked a rib, might have done deeper damage. He’d have one of the medics that worked for him to take a closer look tomorrow.

By the time he got the wound sterilized and sutured, he heard the door open from the garage. Harry was back. Did he have what he’d asked for?

The girl from the donut shop was terrified of him which he always enjoyed. But that wasn’t why he wanted her.

She looked a lot like Mrs. Rogers.

Harry tapped on the bathroom door as he was climbing into the shower. “Boss?”

"You have what I asked for?"

"Yes, Boss."

It was just the reply he wanted.

“Take her to the room,” he called, grinning as he climbed under the hot spray of water. "Make sure she stays there.”

It would have been really easy to just pull on a robe to go play with his new toy, but Lloyd was proud of his showmanship. He took his time cleaning up, heading up to his room. He picked out black slacks, a black and white argyle sweater.

By the time he finished his hair, Lloyd grinned. His little guest had to be drowning in anxiety by now and he couldn’t wait to smell that perfume. It was one of his favorite scents.

Harry waited in front of the door of the room where Lloyd liked to entertain certain guests.

“Has our guest given you any trouble?” Lloyd asked him, not trying to keep his voice down.

Harry shook his head. “Can I get you anything else, boss?”

“That will be all,” Lloyd told him.

He waited for Harry to make it down the hall before he opened the door and let himself in, curious as to what he would find.

The girl he’d sent Harry to fetch him, he didn’t remember what her name was, sat on the edge of the king-sized bed with her hands twisted in her lap and her teeth worrying that full lower lip.

Her eyes were on him then, wide in fear. Lloyd shook his head. While that tiny bit of blood on her lip pleased him, he was disappointed in the lack of effort.

This was going to take a fuck-ton of suspension of disbelief. The young woman looked enough like the woman he wanted to be her sibling.

But she apparently had little of Mrs. Rogers’ spirit. Lloyd just knew if he’d managed to ger her in his little playroom, she would have been working on a way out of there. Lloyd wouldn’t have been able to take his time with his grooming as he had tonight.

It got him hard just thinking about it.

“Please, Mr. Hansen.” Tears were welling up in those big eyes. “I… I don’t understand w-what I’m doing here?”

Strolling over to her, her came to a stop right in front of her, making her look up at him.

“You’re here because I wanted you here,” he told her with a smile. “You’re here because someone else isn’t.”

The confusion was easy to read on her lovely face. Now that she had in common with Mrs. Rogers. Both were an open book.

“Now get up. I didn’t say you could sit on my bed,” he told her in a friendly tone. “You need to earn that.”

She didn’t hesitate, scrambling off the bed to stand a few feet away from him. Casually, Lloyd took her seat, watching her as she stood there squirming under his gaze.

“Did I do something w-wrong or…”

Boring.

“No,” Lloyd said, blowing out an exhale. “You’re here because you look like someone I want.”

That stopped her in her tracks. She was honest-to-God trembling when he rose from the bed.

“Someone who shot me,” he said casually.

When he marched forward and backhanded her, he sent her flying. Unsurprisingly, she curled up like a kicked puppy on the floor, holding a hand to her cheek.

“I’m s-sorry,” she stammered.

“You’re not yet, princess,” he told her with smirk. “But you will be.”

Marching towards her again, it was all he could do not to laugh as she scuttled away from him like a little crab. She misjudged his reach, trying not to scream when her grabbed a handful of her hair and dragged her back to the bed.

It wasn’t hard at all for him to drop her onto the floor at the end of the huge bed, to loom over her until she was lost in his shadow. Lloyd took his time in returning to his seat there. Once he’d settled, he grinned at her.

“Strip.”

“W-what?” Her wide-eyed bit was getting old fast, but he loved that little o shape she made with her mouth.

When he went to get up, she held her hands up in surrender. “Okay.”

“Stand up,” he ordered.

She shook like a leaf as she pulled herself off the floor. Her hands shook so badly, he wasn’t sure she’d be able to work the buttons of the simple blue shirt she wore. He’d seen her wear it at the shop where she worked – a shop on Rogers’ territory no less – and it ruined the illusion for him.

Beneath it was a cream-colored lacy bra. Much better. He could see Mrs. Rogers wearing that. She pushed down the jeans, revealing panties that matched that bra. They were modest.

Lloyd grinned. “Get rid of the socks.”

When she peeled those off, Lloyd saw that her little feet were perfect. The toenails were painted. He wasn’t crazy about that. Mrs. Rogers’ feet were different. They often had blisters and marks from her dancing. Her long toes were all crammed together no doubt from hours being taped up to fit in pointe shoes.

And Lloyd loved watching her dance. It was something that was just his. Her own husband at this point had never seen her dance. Lloyd could say he liked the graceful moves of her dance.

Honestly, he loved her discipline more. There was no teacher there. Just her, working to perfect her movements in the mirrors they’d installed in her studio. That was dedication to her craft, hard work to be the best of the best.

He respected that.

When she reached behind her to unfasten the bra, Lloyd shook his head. “Leave it for now,” he told her. “Put the socks back on.”

He didn’t miss her confusion, but she didn’t hesitate, covering those feet back up in those simple navy socks. With those piggies covered, Lloyd decided they could proceed.

The young woman had a nice figure like Mrs. Rogers. She didn’t have the same muscle tone. She was softer but then that could be said of her entire being. Soft. She worked in a donut shop making baked treats for people to pay her way through grad school. The donuts that didn’t make it to the case he picked from each day? She took them out in bags and gave them to hobos on the street near her apartment. She volunteered at an animal shelter on the weekends.

Boring.

Eventually, she’d find a boring young man and marry him, have kids. If all that inherent goodness and softness didn’t get her naïve little ass killed first.

She didn’t have the fire Mrs. Rogers had.

That fire made the woman he wanted special. Like the woman before him, she was young and lacking in life experience. She was a ballet dancer for fuck’s sake. She couldn’t have fought him off if she’d tried but she knew that. She couldn’t outrun him or talk her way out of it.

And he dared her to pull the trigger when she pointed that gun at him. It had been impressive. There had been fear in those big eyes, in her too-still stance.

And then she had pulled the fucking trigger. The shock on her face had matched what he felt. But she got over it, aimed at him again. He was fucking lucky she missed the second time.

It was a matter of time before he got what he wanted. Got her. Until then, he’d make do. They were both prettier than his normal preference, but all the plumbing was the same.

Lloyd spread his thighs wide where he sat at the end of the bed, pointing to the space on the carpet between them. “You sit right here,” he instructed, pointing to the spot.

Like she was bound for the gallows, she slowly walked closer, sinking to her knees just where he wanted. Annoyingly, she kept her head bowed.

“Eyes on me, princess,” Lloyd told her, waiting patiently for her to look up and meet his gaze.

“You sorry she shot me?” he asked after a moment.

He watched her throat work as she tried to swallow down the fear. He liked how that action looked. Only it wasn’t fear she would be swallowing. Finally, she nodded.

Lloyd slapped her little face. Not hard enough to hurt. But he meant for it to sting. Her mouth gaped open in her fear. It was doing wonders for his dick.

“I didn’t catch that.” Lloyd smirked at her. “Are you sorry she shot me?”

An eager nod this time. “I-I’m so sorry.”

Lloyd slapped her again, the other cheek. “Boring. Are you sorry you shot me?”

Tears welling up in those big eyes. Better. He liked the way her lower lip trembled as she contemplated what to say. He was about to slap her again when she spoke.

“I’m sorry,” she pleaded. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t… I didn’t m-mean to hurt you.”

He made the next slap hurt, knocking her off balance. For a beat, she stayed down.

“Don’t disappoint me,” he told her, chuckling. “You sure as shit did mean it. Didn’t you?”

She froze, cowering on the carpet. She wasn’t getting it.

Faster than she could react, he leaned down to grab her face in his hand, clamped on it like a vice. Hauling her up that way, he got in her face. “Did you mean it?” he demanded.

“Yes.” It was garbled because of the way he held her face, but it was what he was looking for.

“You’re going to make it up to me, right?” Lloyd wanted to know, releasing her. “You’re going to show me how sorry you are?”

“I’ll d-do whatever you want,” she whined, tears flowing down her face now. Better. “Please, don’t hurt me.”

Lloyd liked her begging. If he squinted, he could pretend it was her. And she would beg for him by the end. He guaran-damn-teed it.

“Actions speak louder than words,” he told her. “How sorry are you?”

Her gaze roamed over his manspreading, and he had to laugh when it occurred to her what he expected. Lloyd waited patiently as she pushed off the floor, and again sat between his thighs. Her hands shook as they moved slowly towards the front of his slacks. The minute she touched him, he slapped her again.

Staring at him wide-eyed, she waited for an answer.

“Oh, princess, you don’t get to just do what you want here,” Lloyd informed her. “You have to ask.”

The fact that she was looking at him like he’d lost his mind played well into the illusion. Mrs. Rogers would have been downright indignant.

Blowing out a nervous exhale, she gathered her strength and looked him in the eye. “Can I please touch you?” she asked slowly.

“Sir.”

“Can I please touch you, sir? Please?”

My Millie x Harry Hammond theory: As all good academic rivals to lovers romances go they will both date different people (looking like the Lloyd Siblings) whilst denying their attraction to each other. As their jealousy grows they inadvertently end up hurting their significant others who, along with everyone else can see the obvious. Millie and Harry’s tension escalates into some kind of public fight with their competitiveness and stubbornness taking hold of them for the worst. I imagine maybe this happens at some kind of party or maybe even at a school event. (Think Rory/Jess at the dancethon in Gilmore Girls). They both get dumped and are forced to admit their feelings for one another. But even after doing so more issues arise because Harry thinks he’s not good enough for Millie, not helped by Max’s poor opinion of him when they met. Harry dumps Millie thinking he’s setting her free to find someone more worthy of her. She tells him he’s an idiot and that she’s never thought he wasn’t good enough for her. They break up and go their separate ways at university until Harry realizes he’s a dumb dumb and goes after her. They reunite at university and Millie eventually moves to Willow Creek. They date for most of their 20s before getting married and having Mirielle, Felicity, and Baby Boy. ~Fin~

Your POV:

The weekend passed by without much events, I trained with my father on Sunday as always and Monday morning I opened my bedroom door to find Greenie already there, waiting.

I grinned at him, tilting my head slightly to the side. “Greenie, good to see you again,” I said, even though I was pretty sure I saw him at the hang out on Friday, but then without the mask and the gi.

“Hey,” he just answered and my smile fell. “Are you still mad at me?” I asked and he shrugged, making huff and walk past him down the stairs.

Was that why Lloyd was so quiet Friday? Because he was still upset with me? Maybe me running away really was that bad…

I quickly ate breakfast, bickering with my brother at the table, before greenie drove me to school where we both went different ways.

He went to the teachers room and I headed to the lockers where James, Charlie and Flora already stood to wait.

“Yes! You’re here, now I don’t have to third wheel with this couple.” James happily said and I chuckled as Flora gave him an offended look while Charlie rolled his eyes.

“We kissed, once, and he almost started crying,” Flora pointed out making me give James a look. “Are you do sad that you’re single, Jamie?” I asked and he blew a raspberry at me.

I silently shook my head and opened my locker to grab my books and quickly shot a look in the mirror that I had taped to my locker door.

I noticed someone behind me and turned around to see the twins making their way over to us.

“N/n, we just bumped into your ninja,” Arthur said with a grin, “he told us to keep an eye on you, and to keep you out of trouble” Anthony nodded.

I scoffed. “Are you serieus?” I asked. “Serious as can be,” they both said and I huffed. “Jezus Christ, why can’t he just piss off?” I complained and slammed my locker shut.

“Oh, are you two arguing then?”James asked interested. I just shrugged and pursed my lips.

“He’s still mad at me for running, it was so silent in the car ride here, it’s never silent, he didn’t say a word to me,” I said and Charlie shrugged.

“I mean, it’s fair if you ask me, you did run from him and it’s his job to protect you, if you purposefully run, he’s going to be upset with you because you weren’t being responsible,” he said and he groaned.

“Did you hear him when we got to the motorcycle?” I asked and they shook their heads. “He was so angry,” I said, looking around the group. “Going on about him not being there if something happened and how he’d be upset with himself if something did happen to me and he wasn’t there,” I explained.

While the boys just looked confused, Flora was grinning and I gave her a slight glare as she wiggled her eyebrows at me, letting me know what she was thinking.

I told her to shut up with my eyes and she gave me a ‘but you know I’m right’ look back making me roll my eyes.

“Alright, what is going on here?” Arthur asked a bit lost. “Don’t kind them, they do it all the time,” Charlie said tiredly.

“Yeah, Lu and Millie are in on it too,” James nodded with a scrunched up nose.

“Talk about the devils,” Charlie said and nodded to the direction he was looking at. We all turned to see Luna and Amelia making their way towards me while chuckling.

“Did you run away again, n/n?” Luna asked and I shook my head. “No? Why?” I wised and the two girls exchanged looks before laughing.

“Your ninja just asked us to keep an eye out for you after saying we shouldn’t ask and expect of you to do stupid things,” Amelia said and I scoffed at this, he told it to them aswel.

At this point I was fuming, he shouldn’t bother my friends with this crap, and he definitely shouldn’t scold them for my ideas.

After school I texted him that I would wait by the car and he read it before going offline.

I leaned against the car and I saw him making his way towards me. I was leaning against the drivers seat door so he stood in front of me, waiting for me to move, yet I didn’t.

“You’re a dick, you know that?” I asked angrily and his eyebrows rose. “Excuse me?” He asked and I huffed.

“You asked my friend to keep an eye on me, may I remind you that that’s your job, not theirs?” I poked a finger against his chest.

“I am doing what I have to to protect you,” he said and I rolled my eyes.

“Don’t even start with that talk. You had no right to ask my friends to do your job. Me running from you was not their idea, so if you have a problem or want to be mad at someone, then here you go, here I am, but don’t even dare accuse my friends and then ask them to watch over me like their my fairy godmothers or something.”

“Right then,” he said, “get in the car,” he told me and I looked at him in disbelief. “Are you serious?” I asked and he gave me an unamused look. “Honestly, fuck you,” I said before opening my car door and getting in without much of a word.

When we got home I went upstairs, not speaking a word to him, if he wanted to be a dick, fine.

I opened my phone to text Lloyd but I sighed when I remembered they were most likely the same person.

I just sat on my bed and read a book, trying to ignore the urge to step outside of my bedroom and just hug greenie and tell him I’m sorry and please can we just go and get some sweets to eat in the park.

After about an hour someone knocked on my bedroom door and I looked up. “Who is it?” I asked and I heard greenies voice on the other side.

“It’s me,” he said and I contemplated for a moment before mumbling a “come in,”

He entered and I met his eyes, I was surprised to find guilt hidden behind them.

“Look, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gone to your friends to accuse them and ask them to look after you,” he said with a sight as he leaned against the doorframe. “I’m just worried about you, alright?” He said and I nodded.

“I’m sorry to,” I mumbled and leaned my head back against the wall. “I shouldn’t have ran from you and I should’ve talked to you instead of immediately getting mad,” I admitted and he tilted his head to the side slightly.

I grinned at him for a moment. “Want to get sweets and then go to the park?” I asked and I noticed by his eyes that he grinned. “It’s like you read my mind,” he said and I chuckled and got out of bed.

We walked across the street with our bag of candy when suddenly there were gunshots. My eyes went wide and I looked around to try and spot the shooter.

Greenie didn’t waste time with getting in front of me and taking out his sword.

“Pixal, are you there?” He said, probably in his communication devise. “I have shots fired at Y/n and I need back up right now, at least five men, all armed,” he spoke.

He was right there were five men coming from every direction, surrounding us. There weren’t any other people around, just five men armed with different kinds of weapons.

Greenie and I stood back to back, he himself taking the side so he stood between me and the two guys with a gun. One arm held his sword and the other was around my waist.

I quickly took the dagger I had hidden on my and hoped I could use it against the man with the sword coming my way.

“Listen, no one has to get hurt if you just give us the girl.” One said and Greenie let out a humourless laugh. “You’re a funny one, aren’t you? I’d rather die,” he said and the man grinned.

“If you wish so,” he said and went to shoot but was suddenly frozen in a cube of ice.

The white ninja appeared followed by the earth ninja.

“Stay here,” greenie said to me and went to take out one of the men aswel.

I watched as the three ninja fought and more people appeared then expected.

I was caught by surprise when I felt someone grab my arm. I quickly freed myself and then dodged a punch he threw at me.

The next punch he tried to land, I caught his fist and turned it behind his back before kicking him, making him fall to the ground.

Greenie was suddenly next to me and looked at the man on the ground. “I was caught up with something, but I see you handled that yourself,” he said rather proud.

Before I could answer he shoved me behind him and attacked someone who was ready to grab me.

Suddenly a knife was pressed against my neck and an arm sneaked around my waist to hold me in place.

“Everyone drop your weapons or the girl gets it!” He yelled and the three ninja turned to look and quickly let go of their weapons.

“Hey, let her go man,” greenie took a step forward making the knife press harder against my neck. He quickly stayed rooted to the spot and watched helplessly as the person holding me slowly backed away towards a car not far from us.

I saw the panick in Greenie’s eyes and couldn’t think of anything, if I moved, my throat could be cut, I couldn’t move move my arms and the ninja couldn’t get close.

“What are you going to do with her?” The green ninja quickly asked hoping to buy some time. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” The guy holding me snarled.

“What do you need from us to let her go?” He tried taking a step forward but stopped when he saw the knife inching closer. “Her father would know the answer to that,” the man said and I scoffed.

“Yeah, he doesn’t, just so you know, he owns five different companies and your letters are pretty vague, he has shut down multiple things in hope it would be the right one, but uh, always a misser,” I said and the man stopped walking for a moment.

“You think it has something to do with the his company’s? How daft is your family?” He asked and I frowned. “Then what is it you want from us?” I asked and he groaned.

“You really can’t think of anything in your family that needs to be stopped, you stupid girl?” He spat and suddenly it hit me.

The threats wanted my father to stop with something and otherwise something would happen to me, not any of his other kids, just me.

“You work for Alistor,” I said and the man laughed. “Ding ding ding,” he said as if I just won an arcade game.

Allistor was a man who had been friends with my father for a long time, he knew about my father’s powers to create illusions.

When I was born with those same powers, Alistor started saying I shouldn’t be taught and that those powers could destroy things.

My father had argued saying the only way he or I would use the powers is to either help people or do nothing much with it.

Alistor had later apologised and my father forgave him. One night, when they had been drinking, Alistor admitted he was jealous of the powers, making my father a bit wary.

That same night, he proposed that with my fathers powers and his ideas, they could take over Ninjago, with my help.

My father shut down the idea immediately and cut off contact, he had gotten calls and visits from Alistor saying that if he wouldn’t work with him, he should just stop training me and using his powers at all.

We had been suspecting one of dads business rivals the whole time, but it had not been Amond, it had been Alistor.

Suddenly, the grip on me loosened and my attacker fell unconscious. When I turned around, the red ninja stared at me with a grin. “You’re welcome,” he said, winking.

Just like that, the three ninja picked up their weapons again and started taking down the goons again.

Now the other ninja had joined aswel and soon enough there weren’t any goons left. The police arrived shortly after and so did my parents.

My father hugged me and held me tight, followed by my mother.

“I know who’s behind it all, dad,” I said and he looked at me expectantly. When I told him, his eyes widened en it seemed to all connect and make sense in his head.

Without hesitation he quickly took aside a police officer and explained it all. Three police cars left to head towards Alistors house while one left to get a search warrant as fast as possible.

I exchanged looks with greenie who was also talking to a police officer and he smiled at me, making me smile back.

THE BEST MOVIE MOMENTS OF 2018:

HONORABLE MENTION:

The Opening/Closing Credits from BUDDIES

I’m putting this as honorable mention because this is an older movie recently rereleased.

The first film about the AIDS Crisis, Buddies strikes at the heart with its opening credits with a typed list of AIDS victim up to 1985. Set to a mournful score by Jeffrey Olmstead, the never ending list of lives cut short puts you in tears.

Alex Honnold faces Boulder Problem in FREE SOLO

Most thrillers can only wish they could be as gripping as in the moment when Alex Honnold maneuver’s his way through the most challenging section of El Capitan Wall without rope in this Documentary.

Ray Offers Wisdom from Mid90s

“If you looked in anybody else’s closet, you wouldn’t trade your shit for their shit.”

Ray (Na-kel Smith) and his friends may not be the best role models for the impressionable Stevie (Sunny Suljic), but in this moment, Ray teaches him a lesson in perspective.

Glenn Close’s performance in THE WIFE

I’m not referring to any moment. Just Glenn Close’s acting. She speaks more volumes with her face than most actresses could with dialogue.

10) The Beach Scene from ROMA

Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) is an extraordinary woman. Sure, her life hanging towels and cleaning dog poo doesn’t seem like anything special. But like many lower working-class people, she endures. Boy does she endure a lot of shit in this movie. Not only does her deadbeat boyfriend ditch her to practice martial arts, but her baby is born dead. Despite all this, she not only continues her work, but she shares a close bond with the family. She showcases this bond and her strength when a fun day at the beach goes horribly wrong.

When Paco (Carlos Peralta) and Sofi (Daniela Demesa) swim too far out, Cleo walks into the ocean to save them despite not knowing how to swim. We watch in dread as she faces severe waves to find the kids, the camera always close to her.

This scene also contains a beautiful scene of the family hugging Cleo when she tears up over losing her baby. Seeing them all huddled together in front of a bright white sun captures the heart.

9) “A Place Called Slaughter Race” from RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

Admit it, it’s fun to take pot shots at Disney Tropes. Hell, even Disney gets in on the fun. And boy do they seize on every moment to mock Princess tropes when Vanellope Von Shweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) encounters the Disney Princesses. Of course, it helps that Director Rich Moore and Head of Story Jim Reardon creates some of the best episodes of the Simpsons. Though there are many hilarious moments[1], none can hold the candle to Vanellope’s “I Want” song.

As she reflects over a puddle, Vanellope sings about her longing to be in the gritty game “Slaughter Race.” Seeing this little girl perform this lighthearted musical number over a background of riots and dumpster fires is comedy gold. Nearly every element of this number elevates the comedy, from singing shark (with cats and dogs in its mouth) to the creative lyrics (“Am I a baby pigeon spreading wings to soar?/ Is that a metaphor?/Hey, there’s a dollar store”). And the number still finds time to emphasize Vanellope’s fear of hurting Ralph (John. C Reilly).

Kudos to Alan Menken for mocking the trope he (and the late Howard Ashman) introduced to Disney. Just as deserving of Kudos is Silverman, who faced to task of singing in Vanellope’s high pitched voice.

8) Charlie Loses Her Head from HEREDITARY

With her unusual hobbies, connection to her late grandmother and that clicking sound, you’d assume Annie’s (Toni Collette) daughter Charlie (Milly Shapiro) would be the centre of the whole film.[2] Boy, were we in for a surprise.

Spoilers!

When Charlie suffers a peanut allergy reaction, Peter (Alex Wolfe) races her home. On his drive, he sees a mysterious figure in the middle of the dark road. In his attempt to dodge it, he doesn’t see Charlie hanging out the window. Seeing her head slam right into a pole leaves us as traumatized as Peter is. To see them kill off a main character so early in the film is downright shocking. With this death, predictability goes right out the window and we are left uncertain of what direction this film will go.

7) Neil Armstrong Soars in the X-15 Rocket Plane in FIRST MAN

It’s funny how the most exciting scene in this film isn’t the moon landing. Don’t get me wrong, the scene’s still breathtaking in its realism, but it’s surprising how thrilling the opening scene.

Damien Chazelle hits the ground running with Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) soaring the atmosphere in an X-15 Rocket Plane. He soars higher and higher into the skies until he flies out of earth’s surface and gets stuck in space

Albeit, you know he will be back on earth in time for the moon landing. And yet, I found myself on the edge of my seat, wondering how he’s going to get back to earth. Most of it is thanks to the visual effects, which contains some of the most believable since 2001: A Space Odyssey. The effects leave CGI in the dust with practical effects that look so real, you’d think Gosling was actually flying into space.

6) The Ferris Wheel Scene from LOVE, SIMON

High School Movies are home to many unforgettable romantic scenes. There’s Samantha (Molly Ringwald) and Jake (Michael Schoeffling) standing over a birthday cake in Sixteen Candles. There’s Patrick (Heath Ledger) singing to Katarina (Julia Stiles) on the bleachers in 10 Things I hate About You. And who can forget Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) blaring Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” outside Diane Court’s (Ione Skye) in Say Anything. Be ready to include the closing scene of Simon (Nick Robinson) waiting on the Ferris wheel for online pen pal Blue from Love, Simon.

After being outed by a student, infuriating his friends for deceiving them in his attempt to stay closeted and abandoned by Blue, Simon makes a plea to meet with Blue face to face on the Ferris Wheel at a carnival. As he rides on the Ferris Wheel, he, fellow classmates and the audience wait in anticipation for Simon’s happy ending.

5) The Book Heist from AMERICAN ANIMALS

When Spencer Reinhard (Barry Keoghan) and Warren Lipka (Evan Peters) plotted to steal extremely valuable books from the Transylvania University library in Kentucky, they thought they had the perfect heist. With the help of their friends Erick Borsuk (Jared Abrahamson) and Chas Allen (Blake Jenner), they thought they pull off a heist as smooth as Oceans 11.[3]

But reality hits them like a sledge hammer when they try to pull off the heist. Unlike their dreams, Librarian Betty Jean Gooch (Ann Dowd) doesn’t get knocked out with one taser jolt. It also isn’t easy to lug a six-foot book down a flight of stairs. Then there’s the fact the basement has no exit. That’s just a few of many problems they never consider. From then on, we witness them pay a huge price for their hubris and lack of real-world understanding.

Only youths as smart as they are to come up with such a stupid plan.

4) The Mutant Bear from ANNIHILATION

Biologist Lena (Natalie Portman) and her team find themselves in a quite a bind. After entering the Shimmer, physicist Josie Radek (Tessa Thompson) has barely survived an attack from a mutant alligator and Anthropologist Cassie Sheppard (Tuva Novotny) has been attacked by a bear. Now paramedic Anya Thorensen (Gina Rodriguez) has gone mad and has tied up Lena, Radek and Dr. Ventress (Jennifer Jason Leigh). But when they hear Sheppard’s cries for help, they will soon find Anya is the least of their worries.

Their journey delivers many grotesque, nightmare inducing visuals (especially the slithering intestines.) But the most memorable moment in this film was the image of the helpless crew trapped in a cabin with a mutant bear. Bears are scary enough on their own, but a faceless one is pants spitting meeting. And then you hear it imitate Sheppard’s screams and suddenly you need a new pair of pants.

3) The Great Snap from AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

The whole Marvel Cinematic Universe had been leading up to this moment. The fact that nearly every character had a moment to shine in this one movie demonstrates the astounding direction of the Russo Brothers. But despite all the epic fight scenes, everyone agrees that this film’s greatest scene is the heroes moment of defeat.

Despite every effort made to stop in, despite outnumbering Thanos and despite Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) sacrificing Vision (Paul Bettany) to destroy the mind stone, Thanos still got all the infinity stones. And with a single snap, Thanos succeeds in wiping out half the universe’s population. One by one, we watch many of our heroes vanish into dust while others watch in helpless horror. But none are more heartbreaking that the moment when Spider-Man (Tom Holland) falls into Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) arms, crying “I don’t want to go.” All because some characters couldn’t make the sacrifice needed

Yes, we knew he was going to succeed in the end.[4] And yes, you know most of the heroes won’t stay gone.[5] And yes, their return will likely involve the surviving heroes sacrificing themselves.[6] But the ending still feels powerful despite this knowledge.

It all concludes with Thanos sitting near a cottage, content in his triumph. If the MCU ended here, it would have been a perfect ending. But I’m still curious to see how this will go.

2) The Closing Close-Up in CAPERNAUM

The closing image of Zain’s (Zain Al Rafeea) face will haunt you beyond the closing credits. Throughout the film, we’ve seen this kid struggle through hell on the streets of Lebanon, trying to protect his sister from their resentful parents and helping an Ethiopian Migrant Worker take care of her son. But when he’s sent to prison for assaulting a pimp who bought his sister, he decides to sue his parents for the crime of bringing him into this miserable world. Writer/director Nadine Labaki never looks away for a second to the brutality of Zain’s world and how it brings out the worst in Zain.

When the film freezes to the image of Zain smiling for a Passport photo, your heart breaks for him as Khaled Mouzanar’s haunting score plays out.

1) Tish and Fonny’s Walk Through the Park in IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK

No other opening scene has done a better job of putting its audience under its spell than when loving couple Tish (Kiki Layne) and Alfonzo “Fonny” Hunt (Stephan James) stroll through a park holding hands.

There’s beauty in every element of this scene, from Nicholas Britell’s romantic score to the warm looks in the character’s eyes. But what really sells it is James Laxton’s lush cinematography. The colours pop through the yellows and blues on the couple’s clothes and the green of the grass. You are as in love with this couple as they are for each other.

Then the film cuts to Tish visiting Fonny in prison, this time the yellow is the prison, the blue is Fonny’s jumpsuit and the green is on Tish’ outfit. From then one, we know why their love is worth fighting for.
