UnderAcadamia Lore time!! And then also some information about souls.
I'll be making separate posts for different info on the AU, and I'll probably try and make a masterlist for the links to each post once I'm done. I've already got quite a lot of information typed out on a google doc so far.
"Several years ago, there existed two different species under the rule of one kingdom. Humans and Monsters. The two lived in harmony, with a magical bond and friendship that nothing seemed to break. That is, until the human king started to become old and ill. And as the king's health slowly got worse by each day, so did his mind.
One day, the old king demanded all monsters leave his kingdom for good, or he would declare war against them. This shocked both species, and luckily the human race rebelled against their leader, unfortunately the magical beings had already fled. A new kingdom was established for the monsters, a distance away from the Humans, who had since gained a new ruler. The new ruler, a queen of kindness, and her determined son, frequently would send out search parties in hopes of seeing their old friends once again.
Many years passed, and as the Humans slowly began to lose their magic with each generation, they began to lose hope in finding their Monster friends. That is, until the human prince declared he had found the prince of monsters, and the two species had slowly, yet happily, regained their magical bond once again.
Unfortunately, the magic was still dying with the human species. So, the kingdom reached out to the aid of the other, and the monster kingdom happily offered their solution. An academy! The monsters opened a school made to teach magic, for both species alike, and humans would send their young children to be taught of magic, and of the monster's culture. They celebrated as hope and happiness was once again thriving in both kingdoms.
Centuries pass, and as the humans continue to gain new rulers, the kingdoms continue to thrive.”
“Salem is a young child from the human kingdom, with one of the rarest soul types; DETERMINATION. They have been sent over to the monster kingdom to learn of magic, and of their culture.”
Human Souls;
There are seven soul types known throughout humanity, some rarer than others. Here is a list of them, from the most prominent to the most rare;
Kindness
Integrity
Bravery
Justice
Perseverance
Patience
Determination
Monster Souls;
Monster Souls differ from human souls, as they are all a glowing bright white, and upside-down hearts. Monsters all have the trait of Hope, however their souls are outlined with different colors that are similar to the seven human souls. These smaller secondary traits differ for each monster. Undyne is the only monster known to have a secondary trait of Determination.

Hi wish! A bit of an odd question, but I was wondering what your headcannons on souls are when it comes to RESETs and SAVEs. Would you say humans of other soul types can use them as well? Or only those with determination? o-:
My headcanon is that only souls that possess the human DETERMINATION trait have the ability to RESET and SAVE, especially the RESET ability. That's the whole in-game shtick behind Frisk, Chara, the RESETs, the experiments, Flowey and etc, no?
I don't really care how a monster obtained DETERMINATION (because it is a human-only thing so monsters can't naturally possess it), just that they need to have it to be able to do RESETs or SAVE. I personally am not a big fan of monsters naturally(!) possessing one of the seven human soul traits (or the fan-made ones), simply because the whole point is that monster souls are weaker than human souls, but have magical capabilities which humans don't have. Though I obviously don't mind monsters having a colored soul rather than a white one as almost all of my skeletal OCs have one. It's simply a visual design choice.
Though I want to say that only strong levels of DETERMINATION can do RESETs. It's such an overpowered ability, I'd hate it if such were easily accessible by anyone.

(More crappy MS Paint lore-bits)
Darkner and Lightner Souls are pretty much identical, with their only differences being the central color.
Not listed here are Pokemon Souls: Which are best described as being a sort of "In-between" of human and monster. They have the Determination of Humans and the affinity to Magic like Monsters. Because of this, neither side is capable of absorbing a Pokemon soul. Plus, they make for a terrible source of DT anyways.

Chara, Flowey, Heart-Souls & Butterfly-Spirits (2022)
---------------------
Credit for Undertale goes to Toby Fox & His Team
--------------------
this drawing has to do with the theory that while both Monster and Human Souls are Heart Shaped, both have Butterfly shaped Spirits.
while Flowey might only be made up of some of Prince Asriel’s dust and determination, and is suppose to be soulless...
Flowey might of not only inherited The Original Asriel’s dust and some of his memories, but he might of also inherited his Spirit.
so if Flowey enters a fight, because his new soul is still forming or like not strong enough yet to appear in a fight....
instead a Butterfly appears in front of him instead, a white butterfly with red lines around it, the red lines being the determination he got when he was “reborn” as a Flower.
 those in Deltarune, both Monsters, Humans and Tulpa (Tulpa is my Fan Headcanon name for Darkners from the Dark World.)
all have Butterflies as their Spirits insides of them, depending on the color of a Human, Monster or Tulpa’s Soul Trait, their Butterfly Spirit will be the same color.
and cases of a Double Traits, that would also mean the Butterfly Spirit will be the same color as the Soul’s Double Trait.
we could view the whole Double Trait being Canon, because of Mad Mew Mew.
so my fan-headcanon and theory, is that those who live in Undertale and Deltarune, not only have heart shaped souls, but also butterfly shaped spirits.
also I believe that in Deltarune, both Humans and Monsters can both have different colors souls, and not all monsters souls are white like in Undertale.
if Susie’s Soul Trait is Perseverance, both her Soul and Spirit would be Purple....or like Magenta, Susie’s Trait might be different and the color of her soul and spirit could be magenta.
if Noelle saw Susie’s Spirit come out in a fight, I would picture that Noelle would find it really adorable and pretty.
Noelle’s Butterfly Spirit, might be a Lime Color, the same color as her Soul.
The Lime Soul should be canon, there could be other traits besides the ones we know so far in the canon of Undertale.
for all we know, it could be possible that Noelle and Berdly have Double Traits.
the green in Berdly’s eyes, might be part of his Kindness Trait.
even if he has been a bit unkind before, that trait could still be a part of him, even if he can be a bit mean at times.
in my next post, I will talk about a theory about the True Lab and will talk about the possible dark secrets that those who have worked there, have kept hidden for so long, even the secret about the human child that is kept behind a class wall, that acts like Frisk’s reflection but really isn’t their reflection....
which I will explain more about the theory in the next post.
anyway hope some like this drawing, and the theory that the humans, monsters and tulpa of both Undertale and Deltarune, have spirits that are in the form of butterflies.

Ahmed Saad, a Palestinian man who had to jump through an insane amount of loops to get the funds necessary for escaping Gaza, is asking us all to donate to his friend’s family fund.
Mohamed is a hemophilia patient who needs access to medicine and to do surgery on his knees, his 11-year-old daughter also needs thigh surgery (she was supposed to do it outside Gaza in November but couldn't travel due to the border issues). Mohammed’s condition is worsening rapidly and, with Israel destroying the last functional hospital in Gaza, things are looking dire.
Please donate generously!

Here we have more of a deep dive into the beginning works of the parasite and its toll on monsters.
(Ignore the life-cycle as that is not canon)
Human souls - usually are only carriers and mature parasite remains dormant in the human soul; although it can still spred through open wounds. (Very very rare that the parasite becomes fully active in human SOUL)
Monster souls - are incredibly more weaker and susceptible against the parasite. They tend to become more unstable as their SOUL energy is depleted. (On rare occasions, noraml monster SOULS can act like boss Monster souls.
Boss Monster souls - while still incredibly more weaker than human SOULS, they can remain stable or seemingly un-infected to the carefull eye, before it starts to take affect.
Note: there are certsin monsters that can't be infected at all. Some are ghosts and SOULESS monsters (although they can very briefly be carriers before the parasite is either dead, extracted, or left.)

Journal of Scientific Inquiries by W.D. Gaster (and sanse)
Chapter 2: Souls, soul trait magic, etc.
(Author's note here. Throughout the journal, Gaster left some specific notes in Wingdings, a language special to skeleton monsters and m-hs that they can easily learn. I have translated them for you. The translations will be enclosed in [insert text here].)
Their are 8 known souls known in existence. First there's the monster soul, an upside down white heart made out of pure magic. Then there are human souls, right side up hearts that can be 1 of 7 colors: Red (Determination), Orange (Bravery), yellow (Justice), Green (Kindness), Cyan (Patience), Blue (Integrity), and Purple (Perseverance). All souls are wrapped with a thin black line, the combination of all soul traits, at the edges.
All souls have at least a little of every attribute of the human soul trait, even monsters. However, depending on the the color of the soul itself, depends on the magic a monster/m-h can use.
M-Hs have a monster soul that is tucked inside a human soul. For a m-h, they can have multiple different colors in their human soul. 2 colors are typical, 3 colors are extremely rare. The only m-h I know of that has 3 soul colors is Asgore.
Soul mages' souls are indistinguishable from human souls. A soul mage's eyes portray the color of their soul trait.
Soul mages, monsters, and m-hs are more magically connected to their souls that humans are. For monsters, their bodies are made up of the same magic as their souls. M-Hs are the happy medium between monster magic while also having a more physical body. However, for m-hs to use their magical abilities, they must let their body configure to a pure magical source, their monster forms. Soul Mages don't have this problem, as they are born through the help of m-hs. A soul mage's body and soul are strong enough to harbor magic that can almost rival a monster's magic. This information alone is probably a good reason why they only make up 1% of the world's population.
On the topic of population percentages. Monsters make up the majority of the world's population, at 51.9%, their long life span and the monstercation of m-hs makes it easy to see why. This is almost double the percentage of m-hs, with 29.8% of the population. Lastly, there are humans, at only 17.3% of the worlds population, I'm surprised humans as a whole haven't faded out by now.
When a monster dies, their body and soul turns to dust. When a human dies, their body lies as a shell and their souls is ejected out. If not preserved fast enough, the human soul will shatter. A soul mages soul, however, will last for an indefinite amount of time outside of the body after the soul mage themself has died. When an M-H dies, one of two things can happen. If they die in their human form, the m-h can go through monstercation, a process where their monster mask is place on them and their human soul shatters, permanently turning them into a monster. If an m-h dies in their monster form, they will simply turn to dust, as to reach the monster soul, they must breach the human soul.
Humans and m-hs can heal life threatening injuries of another human's/m-h's soul by extracting the primary attribute of the uninjured soul that matches the primary attribute of the injured soul. Think of it as kind of like a blood transfusion. Monsters can't receive a soul transfusion, due to how quickly they turn to dust the moment the soul hits that critical state. Theoretically, an m-h could receive a soul transfusion from a monster soul, as the m-h's human soul can keep their monster soul stable as it heals.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because soul mages and m-hs are magically in tune with their soul trait(s), they each have different abilities that correlates to the soul trait. Because soul mages have the strongest connection to the magic within their human souls, only they can perform certain abilities.
Determination -> Remembers resets/alternate timelines; if a soul mage has interacted with a save star (which can only seen by them), then they can revive their body to the time they interacted with the star. If a soul mage is the most determined human, they alone have the ability to reset. It is not known if it is only through one determined soul mage alone in the entire world, or if it's like a bubble radius and there are multiple determined soul mages that can reset. Neither option is very good. I guess we are lucky that, even within the soul mage status, determined soul mages are highly extremely rare. And the leader of the PoS, a determination soul mage, didn't seem to have the ability to reset himself (I would know if he did), or he just never decided to use it. In any case, there are several questions I have about this soul trait and it's ability to reset.
Bravery -> Super strength; above average speed; if a soul mage decides to move first in combat before anyone else, all of their stats increase tenfold. Don't get into a fight with them. Monster-Humans can turn one section of the battleground orange, forcing their opponent to constantly move while in that area so as to not take damage.
Justice -> They are the only ones with a magic attack with soul bullets that can directly targets the soul; along that, a soul mage can lock onto one enemy and their bullets can auto aim to that enemy's soul; both soul mages and m-hs also have the KARMA ability, but it is only proportionate to the LV someone has; the only non-attacking ability they have is the ability to see a soul's LV and the type of a soul a person has.
Kindness -> Healing; can check for damages on the soul; can create shields either in a sphere or on one side of a person. They also have a KARMA ability, where if someone were to intentionally attack them to hurt them, the kindness soul can then attack and deal poison damage equivalent to the damage the other person could have done. This also works in reverse, so if they decide to hurt someone themselves, they will suffer the damage they dealt/tried to deal. Soul mages also have an ability to revive without a save star, but only if they died by unnatural means, namely murder.
Patience -> Can turn one side of the field cyan, forcing the opponent to stay completely still; can freeze time; soul mages can freeze people and objects in place. The time freeze ability is also something I would like to test at some point to determine how long the time freeze can last. Soul mages can also slow time down for everyone, except themself, inside a certain radius emanating from them.
Integrity -> Gravity manipulation; flight/super jump; teleportation. While simple, these abilities can prove to be powerful, especially their ability to manipulate gravity. However, the caveat is that monster-humans only have access to their ability if they are true to themselves. Soul mages don't have this problem since they are incredibly in tune with their soul trait, and thus their magic. Lastly, soul mages of this soul type are immune to magic that changes the soul (this is only applicable to monsters applying soul trait magic on the soul).
Perseverance -> Telekinesis; remembers how many resets have occurred, but not the reset itself; heavily resistant to damage taken; Soul mages can use rewrite, an ability where they can alter a course of events that have happened within 1 minute timespan; both soul mages and m-hs can summon a familiar, which can be about almost anything. My familiar is a giant deer skull that flies around.
Monster souls -> bullet attacks special to the specific monster type; can apply soul trait magic on the souls themselves/through their bullet attacks. Healing, but only for damages made to the soul.
[I wonder if there is a way to gain access to all soul abilities.]
Undertale Theory: Papyrus’s Memory-Loss And Monster Souls
 some might not agree to this headcanon, but here goes.
I think the there is a reason why Papyrus is the way he is, even if he does end up appearing in Deltarune, he might have a different personality and act like a different person from his Undertale counterpart, even if the Deltarune counterparts are different people, they could still share some form of personalities with their Undertale counterparts.
but it’s possible the two Papyrus will be fully different, in both mannerism and personality....
if we go down the Geno Route of Undertale, and meet Sans at the Judgement Hall.....we are in theory, not really seeing it from the present point of view.
but are seeing memories of the past, that is why both Human and Sans are in a shadow like silhouettes, to hide what they really look like.
which might be a younger version of Kris and Sans dressed slightly differently than how he dresses when we first meet him after leaving the ruins.
when he is talking about the Human being a “Dirty Brother Killer”
his talking about the Original Papyrus....
Monsters Souls are made up of Manifestation Consciousness of Magic.
and even if their bodies get destroyed, they can form if all the shattered fragments of their Souls (that appear like those white sparkles that make weird sounds if you touch them, that appear in Undertale)
are still in the same place and none of the parts are missing.
Monsters throughout the generations being trapped underground have forgotten this fact about their magical biology.
and even if it is true what they say about Monster Funerals, it’s possible they don’t know that the only way a Monster can truly die, is if the core part of their Monster Soul that allows their bodies to reform.
if Alphys from Undertale knew this, she might of not messed with the unconscious bodies of some of those Monsters that had families waiting for them.
they perhaps weren’t really going to die, but had ended up catching a sickness that had their core of their souls put them into hibernation.
the core of a Monster, can be like Gem’s own gem, that houses their type of souls....if the core is cracked or damaged for a Monster, then the Monster wont be able to reform and they will die permanently, even if their dust that hold their memories and fragments of their soul end up living on in their favorite person or object.
if Kris is the True-Chara (and the one that the Player meets is just like Flowey, who was created in the True Lab, and wants the Red Soul so it can be return to Kris, who ended up going back to their home reality.)
then they could of been friends with Papyrus in Undertale, but a accident happen to cause Papyrus’s death, which if Sans wasn’t told some important facts about Monster Souls during that time, of course he would think that his brother was gone for good.
Frisk, might turn out to be a clone of Kris, who when they finally left that world and return to the surface to their reality, had lost their Soul, which might of not been originally red but was turned that way thanks to Alphys of Undertale helping the Royal Scientist.
Alphys in Undertale, might not of been a good person when she first got the job, even if she did it to try to impress King Fluffy-Buns....
she still end up hurting others in the process, even if she did end up feeling guilty and remorseful later when she realized her mistake.
if  Toriel from Undertale is secretly evil or being used as a vessel for some form of Anomaly, she would of course have a problem with Alphys doing those experiments, but if it has to do with the human souls that she secretly send to her ex-husband, by using the secret passage that is through the doors that read “Room Under Renovation” (which is those doors that you can’t open and I think they might be secret passages that go throughout the underground.)
and then sending each Soul with the human bodies of the humans that fell down before Frisk/Player gets there, to Asgore.
Toriel of Undertale, might of known the whole time that the barrier didn’t reach inside the ruins, and if monsters who could fly had went up to where the first human fell, they would of figured out there is no barrier keeping them from leaving, and it is only on one side of  Mount Ebott that has the barrier....
which is somewhere near New-Home and where you have to fact King Asgore.
if no one can leave or enter the underground because of the barrier,
then it would make sense that no human could of fell into the underground,
unless there is no barrier keeping them from going in, and the only way that could happen is if there was no barrier at the entrance to the underground that is somewhere in the ruins.
the reason why Toriel takes so long and leaves Frisk/Player alone,
is because she is not just getting groceries, she is also taking all the dropped items left behind by the human children, but she forgets to grab for the toy knife and red ribbon, which those two could of belong to Kris when their soul was a light blue color.
just like how the Anomaly that is in Kris’s body, had took out a knife and then it turning out they had ate all the pie (which was accidentally predicted by another fan.)
but I believe that is what the Anomaly that pulls out Kris’s True Soul (that is also the Player’s Proxy Soul because of the Symbiotic Bond.)
they don’t just go down to eat the pie, they also leave the house and then go and break into the library, and break into the computer room and use the knife to create a portal to another Dark World and next would end up creating a Dark Fountain, and well the portal and dark fountain could be one in the same.
the Red Soul isn’t just the Player, it is literately Kris, this means it debunks some of the other theories I had....
the reason why Kris and their brother’s parents are no longer together, could be linked to Kris going missing when they were really little, like the same age that “Chara” fell into the underground in Undertale.
Kris being very young at the time, had heard stories about Mount Ebott, and decides to go there to see it, and both the Mount Ebotts in Undertale and Deltarune can allow travel between the two different realities and timelines,
but only during a Full Moon and maybe during the Autumn Festival.
even if they did have New Years in Steven Universe, they might not really had any Holidays besides Birthdays and New Years....
but Holidays could of came later on, in the form of type of Festivals.
the Winter Festival, who’s other name is “Christmas”, is a special event where Monsters give gifts to each other, and Humans don’t find out about it until much later on....this would mean that the humans and gems that live in Beach City wouldn’t of known about this custom until they end up meeting the Monsters of Hometown.
for something like Valentine’s Day, it is The Spring Sweethearts Festival.
where it can be a day where you confess your feelings of romantic love for someone you like, or just spend time with those you love in a platonic way, you can just give out a Valentine gift in a platonic way for friends or family.
it’s possible that it wasn’t just Asriel who was a part of that plan to free the monsters (and if Toriel knew about their being no barrier in the Ruin and Old Home, then her children wouldn’t of gotten hurt in the first place.)
Papyrus might of been the one who found Kris/True-Chara, when they first fell into the underground and fell on the day when the portal that connects the two Mount Ebotts in the two worlds, would be open.
even if it might seem it was Asriel who found Kris/True-Chara, it was really Papyrus who found them.
and after the accident that Kris and Papyrus has, and Kris ending up back home after being called a dirty brother killer by Sans,
Kris might of was going to be killed by King Asgore, but instead the King only banishes them to the ruins.
one day, Kris was at the spot that they had fell, and above them a rope came down because someone from Deltarune had found them and even called for others to help get them out, this was during the day when a another full moon happen and it let those in Deltarune, see Kris and help them return.
Kris ends up being traumatized by the events, well to those around them who were looking for them the whole time, but they weren’t all there.
there body was there, but their soul wasn’t, it was trapped in the true lab being used as a experiment, and even linking to the Player’s Soul and causing a Symbiotic bond.
making it seem like the Red Soul is the Player’s Soul or even Frisk’s.
but it is really Kris’s and as soon as it does return to Kris thanks to Chara, those who knew Kris acting differently might think it was normal for them to change but might see them acting differently or back to how they were before, as being abnormal. and even Noelle couldn’t tell the difference.
The Memoryhead, might be a missing part of Papyrus, and when he was reforming, he lost those pieces.
same thing could be said for Gaster, if he was scattered through time and space, it really means fragments of his soul was scattered throughout time and space, and possibly landed in different parts of the Dark Worlds in Deltarune.
and those fragments were reborn as Jevil, Spamton and Others we have yet to see yet that will become secret bosses.
it could turn out that two of Papyrus and Asriel’s memory dust and soul fragments could of merged together and became part of Flowey.
this would mean that Flowey is part of the Original Papyrus, before he lost his memories and when he had fully reformed, he wasn’t how he was before.
if two fragments of two different monsters end up merging, it would be next to impossible to undo it, and the two monsters will not be able to go back to how they were before their bodies making up manifestation consciousness of magic were destroyed and had reformed by their core being perfectly intact and allowing for their soul pieces to go back together....
 if any pieces of a Monster’s Soul is missing, and ends up like merging with another fragment, like either another Monster or Human....
they wont be the same, and will have a type of amnesia, which is what Papyrus has.
but if the core that is inside the Monster Soul is destroyed, then yes the Monster can permanently die, but their soul fragments that look like those white sparkles in Undertale, will just fly around and if you touch them they make those weird sounds.
Papyrus might have amnesia, and part of the reason why Sans decided to move him away from where they had originally lived, might have to do with a part of Papyrus still remembering Kris, and whenever he does, it becomes too painful for him and he ends up with a Soul Ache.
if Papyrus had Kris’s Soul in them, when they wanted to try to free all the monsters, but they didn’t get very far and didn’t the underground when their fusion became unstable.
Papyrus form broke and his soul broke into fragments and Kris’s soul would of return into their body, but it was taken over by a Anomaly.
and Kris’s Soul was taken to the True Lab.
the fusion caused a type of Soul-Bond between them, even if a Monster has a amnesia, a part of them will remember who they dearly loved and was closes to their heart, either it be in a romantic or platonic way.
a Soul-Bond can happen between Monsters, or between a Monster and Human.
some platonic bonds can turn into love, Kris and Papyrus’s Soul-Bond might stay in the friend zone.
Kris also has a Soul-Bond with The Player, Susie, Noelle, True-Ralsei and even Berdly (I mean if Berdly joins the team fully in a future chapter.)
the Red Soul that the Player can move around, might seem like it fully belongs to the Player, but really it is Kris’s True Soul.
and before they were free and sent back home from the Other World thanks to Chara, The Anomaly was living in their body and growing up in their body and no one even notice the difference.
The Memoryhead holds another part of Papyrus’s original self, but it is merged with other Monster Soul Fragments thanks to The Royal Scientist.
possibly Doctor Alphys or Gaster.
in Undertale, if all Monster Souls appear White then their cores could be in different colors to show their traits, and the cores would look like gems, like round pearls.
in Deltarune, the Monsters Souls come in different colors much like Humans....
but their cores are rainbow in color.
the reason why we don’t see Sans turn into dust, might be because when he does do it off screen, he will also reform once the Player and Frisk leave the room.
not all theories have to be correct, but it is possible that Papyrus went through death before, that destroyed his body and when he did reform thanks to his core not being damaged or destroy, not all the pieces of himself ended up reforming with him.
a Monster can only really die, if their core breaks or goes out by natural causes.
Papyrus’s Memory-Loss, can be linked to him not having all the pieces of his soul when he reformed.
and while one of the fragments ended up merging with the Prince’s fragment and going into one of the Flowers that would become one of the Floweys (still think there are two of Flowey, and not just one.)
the another fragment of Papyrus’s Soul, ended up becoming a part of Memoryhead, and takes the form of his younger self that hold memories of the bad memories that has to do with his past.
if Papyrus were to touch this Memoryhead that has a part of his younger self in, then copies of the memories would be given to Papyrus and he would get his memories back, but might not return to how he was before the accident.
he might even get mad at Sans for never telling him that when he was little, he did indeed meet a human once, and they were his Best Friend.
 this is of course just a fan theory, and it’s okay not everyone agrees about it.
but Papyrus could still suffer from Amnesia, that his brother wanted to try to keep him safe and keep him from anything that might trigger the memories in a bad way.
