6:30a Coyotes yipping & yapping behind our house to the left.

sound only-cant see 'em

The video of my bone dry neglected back yard doesn't really count as "video". This was about recording the coyote sounds. No visuals of the coyotes. They're somewhere in the brush of the open space land behind us. A mix of chaparral shrubland and grasses.

The coyotes just kept talking and talking and talking. What's funny is that an ambulance drove by on the main road down the hill. You guessed it - the siren totally set them off. At first the siren was louder, but I had to do a double take because I swore that the sirens sounded like a whining animal. As the ambulance got further away, the coyotes continued yipping for at least 10 to 15 minutes maybe.

I took video for about a minute, then hubby and I just sat there, ate breakfast and listened to these little guys yip up a storm.

I've never heard coyotes so close to the house before. A couple lots behind us are vacant and across the street from those lots open space continues up the hill and connects as corridors between several large Open Space Preserves, so we have lots of wildlife. One of our neighbors has even caught a mountain lion on their dash cam several months ago. WHOA! So exciting!

You can also hear a red shouldered hawk in the video. Can't see it, but you can hear it. A pair lives in the grove of eucalyptus trees across the street from us. I have enjoyed listening to them daily since the day we moved in 19 years ago.

I've tagged a few buddies who I think might get a kick out of hearing my morning coffee chatter. Specifically — our beautiful community lives all over the world. I feel strongly that the tiny details of our lives make us the same and make us different, and I love to share those. In fact I'm head over heels anytime someone shares little details of life somewhere else: slice of life details. My excitement is both from a personal perspective as well as from a writing and reading perspective.

Ok... so I usually make a "My year in Review" kinda post at the end of the year. And usually I actually do have some 'stats' that are worth showing.

This year however... well... not so much.

I posted only 18 Fics this year:

8 for Loki

8 for Josh Kiszka

2 for Dean Winchester

Meaning that I posted something every ~20 days (did not count the Incorrect Quotes this year).

Not that bad considering how my year was but then again, I used to post/write more which is a bit frustrating on my end and probably also for you guys, who wait patiently for something new.

But on the bright side, I joined 3 new Fandoms this year and I can't wait to write more for all of my lil blorbos! I definitely have enough ideas for them.

So a big thank you to all of my +1.5k Followers! Thank you for your support this year, your kind comments, your uplifting dm's and asks you sent me. I hope you all have an amazing year ahead of you 💚

It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me and I'm just glad it's over tbh. But I'm a smidge hopeful that 2024 will be a better year

23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?

To write? Happy endings. I really do like happy endings. I know that realistically it doesn't happen all the time. But the girl gets the boy. Everybody lives! I can do angst, as long as I know there's a happy ending at the end.

To read? Auction trope. I know @lokiprompts21 has one that I truly love. @michelleleewise just posted a new one that I'm in love with! Sold by Mooncat163 on AO3 is what turned on that kink for me.

24. What’s a trope that you’d like to never hear about as long as you live, let alone write?

As long as it doesn't involve minors or actual rape. I would be adventurous enough to read or write it. I have a C/NC fic, 'Pheromones' and that's the closest I've gotten to my limit.

I am submitting this for @just-the-hiddles‘s The Damnit Jim, I’m A Vampire, Not A Landlord Fic Frenzy. I chose prompt “1....You can pay your rent in money or in blood.” I was inspired by all the prompts and will probably use them throughout the series. Basically I use the prompts as guide-lines.

This is the first time I have written and shared a fic online-- or ever really! It’s also the first time I’ve written anything modern so please let me know what you think! I hope I’m posting this correctly--I created the title art--LOL I’ve never done this before. I’m aiming to update the series each Tuesday. So here we go...

Summary: The twins are taking a night off from their graduate studies-- or at least Tessa is; her twin sister, Antha, is just trying to keep her out of trouble. What starts as a night of good old-fashioned fun and flirting quickly changes as they find themselves at the doorstep of the Hollow House Bed and Breakfast.

Hello guys, gals, and non-binary pals! I’m so excited to share my latest wip with you! The summary above is for the first of Fractured’s five arcs. Each arc will be (somewhat loosely) based on a fairytale. And not the Disniey-fied versions, the real ones… which means some parts will get rather dark. Rest assured, they will be tagged appropriately, as well as written up in the warnings section.

For Arc 1: The Stroke of Midnight, as you've most likely guessed, the inspiration comes from Cinderella. It will start posting Friday November 19th 12:30pm EST. “Why me, daddy?” you’d asked in your pouty toddler voice, dressed in servant garb for the first time.

Your mother had died just under a year ago, and your father had deemed your training sufficient for you to begin.

“Because, my child. Not many know of you. I could not possibly send Eirik or Ulla; they are too well known about the palace. Besides, your own mother was a servant once, before I whisked her into the court.” Your father had set his large, warm hands on your shoulders, and for just a second, you felt loved. “You do not want to disappoint me, do you?”

“…No. But-”

“But it would make your mother proud. And you do not want to disappoint her either, do you?”

“No,” you replied a little quicker this time. “I’m sorry, father.”

“Do not worry, child. From now on you are the most useful weapon in my arsenal. My little spy.”

You’d nodded, holding in your tears. You knew the headache you’d suffer from doing so was more bearable than facing the ridicule and scolding for letting them flow.

Snapping back to the present, you shook the memory off. Your father was concluding the meeting. “For a better future; for a new Asgard!”
