I love games that, upon completion, shatters my sense of reality, leaves me full of emotions for days or weeks at end, and changes me as a person, for better or worse
good evening gamers. it’s that time of the year when we (I) give awards to the most outstanding games of the year*. so here are the games that the critics (also me) decided should be recognized:
a special new category this year is the best OST awards which go to these games:
last and definitely least, i was hoping i didn't have to do a dishonorable mention this year but here we are:
*-games that i played this year, not games that came out this year. who can keep up???
It's a folk horror game with a unique, hand-penciled aesthetic.
Immerse yourself in its open areas while solving the mystery behind the death of a close relative. While it's a horror game and sure, it has unsettling moments, it's also an incredibly charming game with an aesthetic that you don't easily see in other games.
Easily one of the best horror games of recent years. You can find it on all modern platforms.

I silenced my inner Scrooge and decided to take advantage of Steam's rather large special offer - and thus I bought Resident Evil 7 and Mundaun. I'm so excited (especially for the latter)!
Okay admittedly as much as I love horror movies and books I'm SUCH a baby when it comes to games - but I still want your recommendation list! It's a genre I want to explore more!
first of all, going to recommend it right back to you since you told me about it: SIGNALIS
it's become my favorite game and made me love and appreciate the survival horror genre so much. it's also one of the most interesting works of fiction i've experienced in any media. I STILL THINK ABOUT IT even though i played it about a year ago!! this is my top horror recommendation.

Mundaun is a folk horror game with a hand drawn art style, set in a remote village in the alps. it's weird, it's funny, it's spooky. you can drive a little truck and collect hay and pet goats and ride a sled down the snowy mountain. sometimes there are Horrors.

In Sound Mind is a psychological survival horror game where you play as a... psychiatrist! It's not very serious all the time and it has campy humor and there's a cat you can pet! one of the levels was basically straight out of Alan Wake and it was awesome. the soundtrack is also amazing. i'd say this game is more spooky and fun than scary and i really enjoyed it and i wish more ppl knew about it.

No one lives under the lighthouse is a short (3-4 h) spooky horror game with ps1 style graphics. play this if you like lighthouses, cosmic horrors and want to be stranded on tiny desolate island.
