Well, I am doing well, although recently I had to leave a beautiful house and town and respectable job to move into a hippie commune on the coast as to save money in order to upkeep my pilot studies, as well as decide whether to continue the journey or to return to my homeland, and as it turns out, I’ve done a lot of growing up in the last two years since leaving home and cannot stand hippies, since I’ve become a lot more level-headed and a realist over the road, so life right now is like when Sokka had to put up with those Nomads in Avatar:

#I don’t really identify with the carefree lifestyle anymore #which I guess is why Jaskier isn’t really my profile pic anymore #I’ve changed a lot since I set out two years ago #grown up a lot #wised up #matured #I even gave my lute away to a musician friend I met on the road #these days I’m more focused on pragmatism and realism #a lot more serious #still sarcastic and whatnot but in a more travelled/worldly-experience way #but help I can’t stand these hippies #I was an ENFP a few years ago when I didn’t have all this experience under my belt #and these days I’m INTP according to all my personality tests #so I guess the road can change a person #and my cat is doing well #he also hates hippies #but it’s just for 6 weeks #we can power through

When Daybreak Comes Chapter 15: The only thing I wanna do is make it up to you

Excerpt:

“You brought takeaway?” he can’t help but ask, voice lilting in awe.

Geralt takes a careful sip of his tea — also peppermint, Jaskier notes — before he replies, “No, not takeaway. I made them.”

Jaskier blinks.

“You… made them? The burger? And the chips?”

“Yes.” Geralt shuffles his feet. “It got wet, so it probably doesn’t—”

Jaskier waves him off before taking a step closer and picking up the nearest foiled wrap and container of chips.

“With the way it smells, I’m sure it’s fine.” Without further ado, Jaskier takes a bite and almost groans at the flavour of the juicy patty mixed with fried onions and barbecue sauce. “I can’t believe I forgot how much I missed this. Hmm, even better than the last time.” Jaskier quickly chews and swallows, and then jokingly adds, “If you’re trying to beg for my forgiveness with food, then it’s working.”

He swallows and takes another bite, chewing slowly to savour it. When Geralt doesn’t reply, Jaskier looks up from his food, only to get a glimpse of the pinched expression on the other man’s face. Geralt blinks and avoids Jaskier’s eyes. He takes another small sip of his tea before he clears his throat.

“G’ralt?” Jaskier asks, his mouth half-full of the best burger he’s ever had. He replays what he uttered previously and nearly smacks his forehead with greasy fingers. Idiot. “Geralt, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. I was j—”

“I want to apologise,” Geralt interrupts him, looking so uncomfortable that Jaskier can’t help but feel bad for him. “And I have to explain. If you’ll give me the chance to.”

Jaskier swallows his food and continues to study Geralt for several seconds.

“Okay,” he finally says. His mouth twitches when Geralt’s head snaps up to look at Jaskier, golden eyes lit up with surprise. “You’re not the only one who needs to apologise. C’mon, let’s go to the living room. We’ll be more comfortable there.”

“You have nothing to–”

“Geralt, come on.”

All those stories where Lan Wangji and/or Wei Wuxian are immortal and go around adventuring or saving people or waiting for their lost love to reincarnate like,, there’s gotta be songs about them?

And even when they’re not, even when they live and die and get reborn in Ancient China (or the fantasy equivalent thereof) there’s gotta be old folk songs calling them lovers and ‘bosom friends’ and pop songs referencing them and newer folk music written by queer people about them being in love without one of them being a girl or pretending that they were friends and Lan Wangji was in love with Wen Qing or whatever The Straights cooked up to pretend that gay people were invented in the 1950s in this universe. Like,, they are FOLK HEROES, I want SONGS about them!!
