📍日本
OK,, SO STORYTIME (aka,, 2nd hand anime goods i found today ^^).
i was going to nipponbashi to find the snow miku nendoroid (now knowing the cost is DEADLY), but i looked inside almost eVERY SINGLE SHOP THERE, AND NONE OF THEM HAD HER. EVEN ANIMATE, THE BIGGEST ANIME BRANCH IN JAPAN (which was what my friend told me :p).
but i looked around surugaya shop on ota road, and found HER:
Tumblr media
AN ICHIKA NAKANO FIGURE SOLD AT 2.4K YEN WEARING THE PRETTIEST, PASTEL-EST KIMONO E V E R. i literally couldn't believe that she was being sold for THAT price. i saw an itsuki nakano figure wearing the same themed outfit, but ichika just looked cuter in my opinion (plus, itsuki was being sold for 3.1k yen, so no thank you :p).
i don't plan on displaying ichika because one, i don't have anywhere to put her (like a glass case or shelf). and two, i prefer playing with her like little girls do with their barbie dolls. i'm going to make her cups of fake tea, set up a doll house, and buy a pink lambo. HAH !!! i will definitely be careful doing so, though.
next up, i bought:
Tumblr media
A YOTSUBA NAKANO PLUSH. (*^▽^)/★*☆♪
there was actually a miku nakano one too right next to her, but yotsuba's cheerful expression won me over (and the fact that i generally just like her hair color more LOL).
m'gonna bring her around the airport and give her some airplane food so that she's well fed. :3
can't forget the smallest plush sold at a severely uNREASONABLE price:
Tumblr media
A BABY KITASHIN KEYCHAIN !!!!
i already dangled him onto my bag, and he's going to smile at everyone in japan all the way back to my home country.
extra stuff that i wanna mention:
- the surugaya shop also sold some adorable toge inumaki stuff that i wanted to take home, but i think the three things above are more than enough. ^^
- i was going to get my brother a zoro plush since zoro is one of his favorite all-time characters, but it cost 2K YEN. brother, i love you, i just don't have enough for you. 😞
- like zoro, his other favorite characters are quite popular (ex. sasuke, vegeta, unohana), so their merchandise were pricey too. i asked our father if any character from "demon slayer" (his favorite anime) reminded him of my brother, and he said "the boar" (translation: inosuke). so i laughed while trying to find some inosuke merch. eventually, i found a little plush of him in makeup, and i was so ready to buy it because i had a feeling my brother would've laughed at seeing the thing, but the price was at a wHOPPING 1.5K YEN.
- i got a few gacha capsules for myself since my family and i spotted this little gacha machine pop-up in our train station, and i spent 800 yen on this beauty:
Tumblr media
a plastic wedding nino nakano figure !!!! y'know, at first i was a bit irritated with the fact that when i opened the capsule, only the upper half of her torso was there, so i thought that i had to spend another 800 yen for her dress. then i realized her dress was actually the gacha capsule itself, which was really cool and convenient :D!!
bro, i had a BALL going around to shop (thank you dearly, oh mother and father, for the allowance which i wisely spent /hj) because the last time i went to japan, i only got sanrio plushies and not actual anime stuff. fueee. ( ´△`) . . .

I don’t know about y’all but I don’t exactly get Naruto and Hinata, Sasuke and Sakura’s relationship.
Naruto realized his feelings for Hinata in one movie. Literally after a whole goddamn show was about him chasing his ‘best friend’ and being willing to die for him. Yeah, Naruto cares about hinata and would risk his life for her too, but then again he would do that for anyone. If Hinata had left in OG Naruto, he would probably chase after her but for the sakes of Kiba and Shino. If y’all remember that time when he had to make Kurenai come back and be their Sensei, that’s the type of thing he would do with Hinata (in my opinion).
Even though Naruto had made a promise to get back Sasuke for Sakura, when she had called it off and told him to stop chasing, he still went for it, because he loves him. ALSO, let’s not forget when he literally had a mf heart attack because everyone was giving up on Sasuke. Naruto literally ignored and pushed away everyone just so he can get sasuke. He calls Sasuke his bestie and then forgets about Shikamaru, Choji like, even that annoys me. Shikamaru has literally never judged Naruto, ever. For Sasuke though it’s a different story.
I don’t think Naruto is gay for Sasuke, but Sasuke is gay for Naruto. Obviously I think Naruto loves Sasuke more that just a best friend though. Sasuke calls Naruto his first real friend, and I get that. After Itachi killed his clan, Sasuke was alone and Naruto was the only one who noticed it. In OG Naruto, Sakura had a crush on Sasuke because he was cool, smart, and handsome. She never actually knew who Sasuke was, or what happened. She literally was talking shit about an orphan in front of an orphan. No one does that. Sasuke has never even acknowledged any girls, only Naruto. He’s risked his life and goal for Naruto, he could’ve died knowing that he never got revenge, all for Naruto’s dumbass
Tumblr media
I also don’t think Naruto ever had any true feelings for Sakura and was only jealous of Sasuke for getting so much attention. He was also yearning for attention and for someone to acknowledge him, and yeah after Sasuke had left Naruto still was asking Sakura in dates but I just think he simply got used to it. He sacrificed a lot for Sakura, and all for her to ignore and turn him down. Don’t get me wrong Sakura is an ok character, just not some of her choices and behaviors through out the show. Mf literally, accidentally called her ugly.
Tumblr media
Now I’ve heard people say “Sasuke tried killing Naruto so many times though”…… it’s like they forgot that he’s tried killing Sakura, Kakashi, Karin, and the whole mf village. He tried killing Naruto because his bro Itachi said that it was necessary for him to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan, and apparently that was the only way to beat Itachi and kill him. He tried killing Sakura because she was in the way, and that she was ‘annoying’. He tried killing the Village because he wanted to avenge Itachi and yeah at that moment, Naruto was in the way and he was blinded by the fact he needed to avenge his clan and brother
People act like Sakura was the one who brought him back and knocked some mf sense into him, no she didn’t. Literally when Naruto and Sasuke had fought he seen Naruto, his memories, and everything about him. Sasuke had seen that Naruto has always had Sasuke in his heart, and he felt bad. He realized why Naruto did everything he did and why Sasuke meant so much to him, he cried when he realized that Naruto was actually a good friend and who were the only people to make Sasuke cry? Itachi and Naruto. Who was the most important person to Sasuke? Itachi. Who reminded Sasuke of Itachi? Naruto.
Tumblr media
There’s is just so much things that don’t makes sense. Like, I honestly think they should’ve been together in the end. I think that they didn’t make Naruto like that is because
1) they wanted Boruto
2) fans would be angry and Naruto wouldn’t have been as popular
3) hate.
I honestly think that Hinata and Kiba would have been a great couple. They’ve had more chemistry, moments, and time together than Hinata and Naruto. I honestly don’t know what’s to say about Sasuke and Sakura, like what? He just came back and decided to love Sakura and have a kid? I think the only reason that SasSaku is cannon is because Sasuke wanted to revive the Uchiha clan. What other reason to love Sakura? I fr think that she should’ve at least have Rock-lee a chance. He was a gentleman and is always willing to protect Sakura. Also Neji shouldn’t have died, but that conversations for another time.
I think you all should share your opinions on this, and tell me what you think.
THIS IS NOT A NaruHina AND SasuSaku HATE POST

found out chris has a tik tok and it prompted me to rewatch all of his content and make this list that absolutely no one asked for. so without further adieu, i humbly present to you, my followers,
✨ naruto characters as Chris Fleming quotes ✨
Naruto: "My [team] has made it very clear through a series of looks and gestures that one more screw up, and I am out."
Sai: "So I find the shirts, but they’re all youth smalls - which is basically an American Girl doll sized shirt - and I’m like, fuck it."
Sakura: "My concept of “a man” is someone who whacks their elbow at a Pertucci’s and has absolutely no hang ups about freaking out."
Sasuke: "Call yourself a community organizer even though you’re not on speaking terms with your roommates."
Kakashi: "The reason there were so many pauses in my emceeing of the inauguration was because, truth be told, I was on Facebook haggling over a corgi. Seriously, how often do you see a corgi at the humane society? What, did the queen die? You don’t rescue a corgi, you inherit a corgi."
Obito: "The FEELING of making my friends and family sit through three hours of my BOLD choices and relate to none of it, it’s... electric."
Choji:"Two bite brownies?? Don’t tell me how many bites to take per brownie, Trader Joe’s. Okay for me, they’re zero bite brownies. I suck those things down like a BURMESE PYTHON."
Shikamaru: "I’m tired. I don’t want to be here. I want to go on Venmo and check out what everyone’s been up to. I want to go on my Venmo newsfeed."
Temari: “Are you watching Scaredy Husbands? This show rules.”
Kankuro: “If I hear music playing outside of a store I will actively try to not walk to the beat because I don’t want to look like I just got out of a “take back your life” seminar, like I feel like “this is my day” do you know what I mean?”
Hinata: “It’s the kind of embarrassment that you feel in your ass. Most embarrassment you feel in your stomach. This is ass embarrassment.”
Kiba: "[He's] kind of a dog or something. He’s really cool. I went to high school with him. Super chill. But not right now. Right now he’s running at you like a badass. You must have done something to piss him off."
Gai: "…and he had this BIG ass. This big, PROUD ass. This Christmas GOOSE. This terrific bassoon players ass."
Lee: "It’s my birthday so that means my family gets to watch me do crunches.”
Tsunade: “So, I stole a pig, blamed [Shizune] for it, and [she] spent a night in the big house.
Orochimaru: Alright my guy, I’m going to shop around a bit- [KABUTO!] -sorry, I thought I saw somebody but it was just one of my big ass candles.
Konan: "I’m finding myself to be quite popular among women who own lizards."
Minato: "Listen to me you small business lesbian, I went to the women’s march and lead chants. I asked women at their march for their sunscreen and I used it all over my face and neck. I inconvenienced women at their own march because I. Am. An. Ally!! Listen to me you bossy hedgehog! I made a 15 page Facebook post, single spaced about how men are taking up too much space. We need to listen to women."

Hi Fourangers,
First of all, I love your blog so much. It's like going through a history back when Naruto Manga chapters were released weekly and your reviews were so Golden, Hilarious and spot-on. Am a new fan though (especially an SNS fan), I just got into this fandom only this year. I don't know if you'll answer my ask, but I just wanted to try and ask you few questions and I pray that you might answer me....
1. Since you've written in a post that you were active in the eastern part of the fandom, How was chapter 698 received in Japan? Because this is the chapter I inherently realized they both love each other. Yeah, I was too late but somehow whenever they interact with each other in previous chapters I always find them to be 'Weird' for just to be friends. Chapter 698 is just blatantly obvious that they love each other. Considering Homophobia and Shounen genre, I have no idea how it was perceived over there back then in 2014.
2. Which scene made you to ship SNS?
3. As an SNS'er how do you feel about the ending, where everyone was married off when they were just 19 just to make some shitty sequel??? As a new fan, I felt betrayed and It would've been perfect if they had stopped at chapter 699, leaving an open ending.
4. How do you face with the accusation about Naruto and Sasuke as brothers and we, SNS'ers are Incest shippers??? I don't care about that Indra and Ashura thing. But Naruto himself told he considers Sasuke as his Brother couple of times. And in Chapter 699, Sasuke acknowledged, 'He finally understood what it meant'.... It's the only thing that confuses me and I don't even have an answer!!! Plus, Kishi himself gave an interview that he based Sasuke on his Brother... I really wonder how he gave such an interview when he literally made them wear necklaces with each other's faces.
5. How was Naruto and Sasuke's sexuality perceived in the fandom back then??? Man!! Kishimoto just made lot of comic reliefs on their sexuality by making Sasuke on Sai jutsu, Naruto not interested in Icha Icha but making Reverse Harem no Jutsu, Naruto was angry when Konohamaru made Boy on Boy jutsu whereas he had no problem with him doing it. LOL. And all those homoerotic posters. What do you think about their sexuality, personally??
6. Why did Kishi had to develop their bond as Soulmates with some unintentional or intentional romantic undertones, if he was eventually going to pair them up with girls??? He easily could've gave many such romantic tropes to other girls and keep the bond between N and S as purely friendship or brothers. It still would've made sense.
7. Final one, Was Naruto really Nosebleeding when Kurama made a joke about Sasuke's kiss in Chapter 572???? We had a lot of heated discussion with other shippers where they claim that it was just a splotch of snot.
Sorry for the lengthy ask....... I am so eager to know your answers and I don't want to spam your ask box by sending multiple asks.
Thanks 😊😊😊
Hey yo! Welcome new SNS fan! I'm so glad that you joined us and I'll try to answer as best as I can. I'm not very active here on tumblr (except browsing lol) but your ask was such a delight to read.
1. I honestly don't remember. I think I didn't follow the japanese boards until the eventual 699-700 disaster. People were craving for reactions and I was curious about it too lol. And well...it's been years, I doubt I'll be able to find the reactions from that time. Imo, most readers don't care much about pairings, they just wanted to read about power-ups and abilities and the basic Naruto Vs Sasuke. Though there are some backhanded jokes about how gay Naruto is for Sasuke.
2. Hah. It's going to be very anti-climatic but it was when Naruto and Sakura were eating in Ichiraku Ramen. Naruto just used Rasenshuriken against Kakuzu and he busted his arm. Sakura was healing his arm and her attention was focused on Naruto. I used to be a NaruSaku shipper so I thought "Oh hey! This is the moment that Naruto would have a candid romantic moment!" But nope. He talked about Sasuke. And I was already getting suspicious about Sasuke's feelings towards Naruto ya know? And the whole "SASUKE IS MIINEEEEEE" in Orochimaru's lair. It was that moment I thought "you only have Sasuke in your head don't you, Naruto?" and started shipping SNS.
3. Hooo boy was I surprised when it was suddenly revealed that they had the basic heteronormative, boring marriage with bunch of clones of themselves. Everyone thought that it was almost like a bad fanfiction come true and some thought that it was fake. It was a pandemonium lolololol. I also thought that it was too lame to be true and lo and behold, when it came true I was floored. And then whenever Kishimoto threw new material, I got insanely pissed off because S*arada and B*ruto becoming pairing material is ok because they are a girl and a boy, and then they paralleled with Naruto and Sasuke which are only FRIENDS because they are both men. ARGH. Open ending was what Kishimoto planned from the very beginning but wrote a sequel to earn more money.
In that aspect, I made peace with it because of the whole anime/manga industry. I learned that, as a mangaka, you don't earn a lot of money with selling books, but rather with merchandise and profiting with sales right. And that guy have a family to raise, have two kids (which is hilarious about how B*ruto movie is his self-insert story), he needs a steady income. Also, I read reports about how anime studios are so poor and animators don't receive a decent income not to mention they are overstaffed and tired, and B*ruto is a good money cow for them to earn money so they can invest later on other anime they have more passion about it. So even though I hate this story with a strength of thousands suns, they are putting meal on people's tables and making them pay rents. I'm ok.
4. Lemme roll my eyes because in the Last movie they said that Hinata is related to Kaguya and so is the Uzumaki and Uchiha clan so they are all related woo hoo. But in the aspect of brothers because reincarnations bla bla bla, didn't Naruto himself said that he's no longer that brother, he's himself? Hmm...I gotta re-read it. One day. Maybe. lol. But I'm sure that he said "Sasuke is not my brother but I'm sure we'll understand well as friends" so there. Honestly, there are a lot of interviews out there and a lot of them are fake, so I'd always take the interviews with a grain of salt lololol. I do know from artbooks that Kishimoto wanted to create Sasuke as a rival-esque character and that was it. As he was developing Sasuke and Naruto's relationship, since he liked the whole yin-yang concept, whenever he wrote Naruto's story, Sasuke's was developed at the same time as his shadow.
5. I can tell from Naruto Forums (I used to participate back in that day) MOST of the non-shippers thought it was gay as hell, but you know...it was a relic of that time. While they thought it was gay, they didn't put too much thought about you know? Because it was shounen, and we knew that it was a joke that it couldn't be taken seriously. Of course, in the SNS fandom, we did make more analysis and there were a lot of instance when Naruto and Sasuke's sexuality was questioned. Some other non-shippers also thought that Naruto was totes gay for Sasuke (including a IRL friend).
Imo, Naruto is definitely bisexual in my view. Sasuke I think he's asexual or gay. He's attracted to Naruto, but mostly because of his connection to him, not because of his physical attributes, so yeah...asexual. Or Pansexual. Sasuke is more complicated lmao. Imo, Naruto could be pansexual too, come to think about it. Yeah, I guess both being pansexual can be valid.
6. He developed Naruto and Sasuke being soulmates from the very beginning, that was proven in his comments in artbooks and in the manga. He probably created with the intention of making it purely platonic, going beyond physical ties. Then he shot himself on the foot by drawing Naruto thinking about Sasuke on bed, talking about how Sasuke is cool, meanwhile Sasuke waxing poetic about how Naruto saved him. What gives? Lol. Yeah, I think he got too enamored writing their relationship that he didn't have time to write romantic ones. What I noticed that Sakura's popularity never was really high, so I could see some editors putting their fingers all over it and making her less relevant. Also, Kishimoto didn't know how to handle her, so when she got her time to shine was the whole fake confession disaster. Coupled with Kishimoto sexism and, in his words (Kurenai's flashback), women are useful to spout more babies, women was never really relevant in his story, unfortunately. Even Kaguya who was technically the big bad boss, was never really fleshed out in comparison to Madara. So the null het romantic moments it's not because he wanted to elevate SNS moments, it's more about how he's incompetent about it. It's either Hinata slowly elevating to a relevant status because forced interaction (Pain's sacrifice and Neji's death) or Sakura being obligated to be pining over Sasuke because she's a girl. It's even more painful to see that, if we ignore B*ruto, both girls are shown to be just talking with their kids and dusting shelves, basically being housewives, even though thorough the story (especially Sakura) it was implied that both of them have much more potential than being their husband accessories.
7. It was a splotch of snot. I can confirm myself lol. Whenever the chapter is out and fans would scan it to scanlate it, the editor usually would amp up contrast to max. So usually the lines get much more thicker than usual, when you read the official release which gets straight from the source, you can notice how the lines are more delicate.
Oh lol...but then we also have a lot of controversy about translating style. THAT one is a whole new can of worms to open.
Man I had fun answering your questions! Please send more :P

SSM20 #8: Let’s play pretend
Sakura tells Sasuke the reasons why they should get married. RTN!AU (Rated T)
When his father calls for a family meeting, Sasuke half fears it’s been finally revealed that he was the one that burned down the garden shed and not the neighborhood teens as he claimed.
But when his mother also arrives with a stern expression, Sasuke realizes this is worse than a bit of light arson.
He fidgets at the dining table nervously as he watches his father nod to his mother to begin.
“As you know,” she starts, “you are getting to age where one should consider settling down.”
Sasuke groans.
“Mother!”  But she raises her hand to silence him.
“Sasuke, this is a good opportunity for you and the clan.”
“What about Aniki?”
His mother’s face adopts a sour look, not pleased to be interrupted. “Your brother has his own duties. You should only concern yourself with your own.”
Sasuke tries to protest once again but his mother’s stony features leave no room for argument.
“I’d expect you not to embarrass yourself or the clan,” Her expression is one of usual exasperation at his antics. “Sasuke, it is time for you to grow up.”
---
Sasuke has always been quite bitter that his brother is allowed to gallivant around the countryside with his band of questionable acquaintances while the responsibilities of their clan are dumped onto him.
And it’s not that he doesn’t want to get married either! Having spent so much of his life devoted to his family’s whims, Sasuke at least wants to choose who he wants to spend his life with.
Secretly, he quite enjoys the daydreams where he comes home to have a quiet night with the love of his life and what he is sure to be their small squadron of children.
So Sasuke comes up with a plan.
He supposes if he makes himself an utter unmarriageable fool, this nonsense would be over. Even a name as prestigious as Uchiha would not be enough to secure an engagement if he is the most undesirable human being in the world.
So the day of the marriage interview, he tries to look like the failure his family assumes he is. Sasuke puts on a sweat suit he wore out to training two days ago paired with his sandals and mismatched fuzzy socks. He doesn’t brush his teeth and doesn’t even style his hair. He even spends a few days trying to grow a beard.
Sasuke looks like an absolute disaster. Which is quite a hard thing to do he might add; curse his beautiful face!
He arrives at the casual diner he had chosen feeling confident and clever, because what could be more disappointing to start off a potential marriage than a place he knows has more health violations than he has fingers?
That is until he realizes who his mother managed to set him up with.
Sakura-chan, beautiful as ever, is sitting in the sticky booth the hostess leads him to with a cup of what he is sure is black coffee.
Sasuke immediately regrets every life choice he has ever made. He wonders whether activating the Izanami right now would save him from dying of embarrassment.
A thousand thoughts are running through his head all at once. Is this a joke? What is Sakura-chan doing here? What about Menma? Should he turn around and walk out like nothing happened?
However she glances up at him with those lovely eyes of hers and Sasuke cannot help but blurt out the most pressing thing tumbling around in his short-circuiting brain.
“I thought you wanted to get married for love?!”
Not missing a beat, “Good morning to you too, Sasuke. I see you know how to impress a lady.”
Sasuke wonders if he can throw himself out the window.
But his pride dictates that he cannot embarrass himself anymore in front of Konoha’s fairest, so he squares up, grits his teeth, and slides into the booth.
“Don’t change the subject,” taking in her own outfit. White coat and business casual. So it must be clinic day. “Why are you here Sakura-chan?”
He cannot think of any reason why Sakura would suddenly want to marry him; Sasuke has always considered the greatest tragedy and irony in his life is the fact that the love of his life does not feel the same way. So he waits for her explanation.
Sakura, to her credit, always is cool and collected and is logical to a fault. She does not shy away from his questioning facing him directly to answer.
“Your mother asked me to consider a marriage into the Uchiha clan.”
Sasuke rolls his eyes, “Just because you two get along doesn’t mean you have to humor her, especially when it comes to getting married!”
She takes a sip of her coffee, now not quite looking at him. Almost guilty. “She told me that if I married either you or Itachi-san, your clan would back my bid for Hokage.”
Anger bubbles in his stomach. Envy burns down his throat. Betrayal is bitter on his tongue. It is one thing for his mother to meddle in his life, it’s another for Sakura to be so callous as to use his love for power.
“Why are you meeting me then?”  His brother might be a flighty vagabond, but Itachi is the heir and he is the spare.
She seems to understand what he is truly asking. “Sasuke, you are a rising star in the Konoha. The people of this village trust you greatly.”
“You can’t stand me.”
“You’re annoying but I don’t hate you.” She smiles sadly, as if enjoying a particularly cruel joke. “I don’t think I could hate you, truly.”
“Sakura-chan, with all due respect, between your father and the Fifth’s recommendation, I don’t think you need my family at all.”
Sasuke takes a deep calming breath to hide his frustration, trying to act nonchalant, “But if you still want to get hitched Kitten, I’m all for it.” He even throws in a lighthearted wink.
She ignores his last comment. “My father and Tsunade-shishou are popular with the people, but the council is not fond of either of them. Too peace loving apparently.”
“My family isn’t very popular with the council either.”
“But the Uchiha clan is one of the oldest clans in Konoha, its influence is enough to convince other families. Enough to over rule the council.” Sakura smiles wryly, “In return, the Uchiha clan will have ties with the Hokage office. Think of it as a strategic alliance.”
This is just like Sakura, cold and calculating. Sasuke does not hate it; her ambitions are part of her charm.
“What’s in it for me then?”
“If you do accept, your parents would be satisfied you are an upstanding, successful citizen and will no longer have any right prying in your affairs.”
He doubts that it would stop them but allows her to continue, “I also don’t plan to…interfere with your extramarital activities.” Sasuke begins to feel a sense of dread as Sakura continues, “A marriage of convenience if you will.”
This is his boiling point and he finds himself shouting.
“No, it’s a sham! How you could have completely given up on love?!”
Sakura is a woman who has always been loved shallowly and one can only be the object of admiration for long before realizing  it’s only empty reverence. The one thing she always craved is the unconditional love she lost so long ago along when her parents passed.  Sasuke cannot believe Sakura can give up that so easily.
“You’re the one who doesn’t understand anything Charasuke!” She is now equally angry, “Do you think I want to use my husband’s name to get the Hokage’s seat!? How everything I’ve spent my life working for amounts to nothing in the eyes of the council?! ”
“It doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your own happiness for this!” Because even now, even though his affections for her are unyielding and painful and true, he just wants her to be happy.
To find love and be loved, even if it isn’t with him.
“I’m running out of time!” She is shaking now, in anger, in frustration, in a hopelessness Sasuke has never seen. “Tsunade -shishou told me that the council is considering making Menma the Hokage after she retires.”
“Menma? What? He can barely carry conversation!” And he is impulsive. Just as likely to start a war as he is to end it.
Sakura looks sick, “Menma has a strong shinobi, but that’s all he is. He is not suited for politics. He only knows how to end conflicts with shows of strength.”
“Do you really think that Menma will actually accept the position?” Because regardless of their disagreements, Menma is still his best friend. Menma isn’t the type to seek power wantonly.
“Maybe, maybe not. But he is now married to the Hyuuga family. And you know how easily he can be influenced.”
Sasuke wants to defend his friend’s honor but he admits she has a point.
“So when your mother came to me about this...I don’t know I just thought this might be my only chance.
I know this is unfair to you, which is why we can just pretend to be a married couple in name only. You are under no obligation to change your ways Sasuke.”
Sakura is resigned to her fate to a supposedly loveless marriage and Sasuke hates it.
“But I cannot let Menma and the council turn this village into a battlefield. I cannot let them ruin my parent’s legacy.”
This is insane. It’s not right. She may be the logical one, but he has always been the romantic.
This is not at all how he imagines their life together would be.
Sakura takes in his uncharacteristic silence as the end of the conversation and gathers her things.
“You don’t have to answer me right now, just think about it.” And with that she departs, leaving him alone in the booth.
---
Sasuke has always pretended that his family’s obvious favoritism and Sakura’s indifference towards him, never bothered him.
He distracts himself with pretty girls and pretty flowers. But really, he just does not have the courage to face the reality of being the fallback and second place.
That no matter what he does or how hard he works, he will never measure up to the Uchiha’s prodigal son or even his best friend.
He just wants someone to look at him and only him.
And maybe that's why he has always been so drawn to Sakura, the daughter of fallen heroes.
Because maybe she just also wanted someone to see her tears. To realize what was underneath her facade.
The pretty girl who cries when she is alone so she doesn’t bother anyone else, yet in front of the rest of the world is the image of stunning grace and confidence. Who heals him when he bleeds and listens to him when he cannot bear the expectations of his family anymore.
He admires her bravery. He falls for her kindness.
Sasuke loves her, he has for a long time.
He wonders if she knows this.
And so that’s why he is waiting outside the clinic later that afternoon, in his best clothes, clean shaven, with a bouquet of lavender flowers.
No more pretenses.
He will give her his name, the world, and their marriage will be anything but loveless. He will make sure of it.
A/N: This was an AU of another AU WIP that went of the rails. Thank you for reading! Happy SSM20 and stay safe!

My Number 1
Chapter 4
"Sakura, is it true that this particular man is your boyfriend?"
That couldn't be possible. I've only talked to her like, twice and we're not friends or anything. Why would people ass-
"Yes."
See? I told you it's imposs-
I choked on my food and immediately drank water. "What?!" I exclaimed. Just What?! Did she just say I was her...bo-boyfriend?!
"So Sakura," The reporter was also shocked at her answer. I turned my attention back to the TV to listen attentively. Did I heard her right? Did she confirm it? Well, I mean if she wants me to be her boyfriend I'm 100% Ok with that...
"Are confirming that you are in a relationship with this man?" The reporter asked seriously, all the other members also listened attentively at her.
"Well, he is a boyfriend. Space between the words, he's a boy who's a friend." Sakura made it clear by pointing out that it's not what everyone thinks.
"My goodness... I thought it was true... I had my hopes up in there for a while.." I calmed down and somehow felt disappointed. "Why do I even assume that Sakura and me being together could be possible? They can't even date anyone!" I reminded myself for the hundred time. She and I can never be a thing.
"Oh... I thought he really was your boyfriend there. Are you good friends with him?" The reporter asked again. Speaking of friends, am I and Sakura really friends?
"Well, this man helped last night and was kind towards me. I was harassed last night, and this man didn't hesitate to run towards me and help me. I'm really thankful to this guy and hope we can still be friends." She ended it with a smile. Well, being friends with her is still a nice thing.
"Do we know this man? Is he somewhat in the showbiz industry?" Why is this reporter prying too much on someone's life? They don't need to know who are these girls friends are. It's their private life.
"He's not popular. He's just an adult that works in a office. However, he's very handsome though." Sakura giggled and the rest of them smiled. And by the way, she complemented me again!
"Do you like him? Sakura?" The reporter was playful this time and wiggled her eyebrows at her. Sakura only chuckled with a small tint of blush trailing across her right cheek to the other cheek.
"Well.. Maybe I do have a little crush on him?" She giggled and the rest also laughed with her. She's so cute and precious!
Wait, did she just say she has a crush on me? She did right?
"Sakura...you're so...you're really killing me." My heart ached and I gripped my shirt with my other hand on my face. I was blushing so hard right now and my internal fanboy was screaming.
I know that it was a crush and it meant nothing at all. Why am I so childish when it comes to her? She's always making me feel this way.
Oh I know, It's because I love her...
"Anyways ladies, I heard you'll be releasing your new song next month? Mind giving us a little spoil and sneak peak to it?" New song? New album? I gotta save up for that!
The rest of night was usual as it was. Nothing special really happened except for the fact that Obliviate will be releasing a new album and of course I need to buy that.
Sakura's POV
"Thank you very much girls for this opportunity you gave us to exclusively interview you tonight. Any last remarks or message to the fans?" The reporter asked us one last time.
"Well, thank you always for supporting us and stay cool and safe!" Temari said as a last remark. The rest clapped and also said 'I love yous' to the screen. I also did the same and blew flying kisses to them.
I hope Sasuke-kun catches one..
I thought silently while giggling by myself. Moments later, the reporter ended the call leaving us all alone now sitting in the couch.
"Phew... We're finally done..." Temari stood up and so did the rest of my group. Hinata and Ino went to the kitchen to prepare dinner despite of how late it is. Temari just chilled and browsed the internet, considering that she's our leader, she's in charge of our page and other online accounts. We we're assigned to handle our own social accounts and not the company, still giving us free access to our own personal ones of course. Ten Ten lay down staring at the ceiling. Silence engulfed us, only the sound of pans and utensils can be heard from the kitchen.
"So... Care to tell us something? Sakura?" Temari finally broke the silence, still staring at her laptop typing whatever she is. "Who was that man?"
"I told you, he's a friend. I met him at the meet and greet last concert. He helped me last night with some douches that was harassing me and gave me a ride. Nothing more." I sighed. There's really nothing between our relationship. I don't even know if he considers me as a friend or just a merely fan and artist relationship.
"Are you sure? You know we have a strict policy of no daー"
"Yeah, Yeah, I know that. We're just friends Ok? Besides, why would I date someone? I know clearly what our policy is. No need to remind. I won't break the rules..." I clearly assured them. I grew up with strict discipline by my parents so following rules is crucial to growing up.
Besides, what will men give you? Betrayal? Pain? Regret? They can never give you any good. Believe me, I felt all of that because of a guy who I dated and regretted every single second being with him. What did he do? He cheated on me. He abused me, commanded me. While there I was, doing everything I was told because I was 'madly in love' with him. All of it was a joke to him. He never loved me back, instead he used me. He just wanted to catch up with his friends and brag about having a girlfriend. What does he think I am? Something to get because it's a trend?
Why am I even thinking about that right now? Past is past, Sakura..
"Good, if you ever break he rules Sakura, I don't know what will happened to our group." Temari said while Ten Ten was beatboxing silently, still listening to our conversation.
"I don't need men. I have music and loving friends... Bandmates who I love so much." I looked at Temari. Her face looked so touch and was about to cry.
"Since when did you learn to sat cheesy things forehead?" Ino was already standing behind me, startling me. She was wearing an apron with her usual ponytail hair do.
"Oh, shut up Pig..." We all laughed together and chuckled.
"Dinner's ready! Let's eat!" Despite Hinata's soft and gentle voice, she shouted from the kitchen loud enough for us to hear and understand. All of us went to the kitchen, seeing such a feast ready at the table.
"Hinata! This looks so good..." Ten Ten took a sniff of the aroma the food was emitting. My mouth was also watering at the sight of it, making my stomach growl silently only for me to hear.
"What's the occasion?" I asked casually while taking a seat. The rest seated as well, getting their own bowls of rice and chopsticks.
"Nothing really. Just celebrating the fact that Sakura has a crush.." Hinata giggled and I looked at her with a 'really?' look. Hinata saw my reaction and just shrugged it off. "Whatever. Let's just eat."
Everyone followed her with their 'itadakimasu' and dug in to the tempting food in front of us.
That's right, why would I even need a man? While looking at this view, my friends and music are enough for me to be contended. Of course Sasuke-kun is part of that.
But somehow though, I can't help but feel like there's a hole inside me that's still missing a piece. Isn't this enough?
Can't be thinking about that right now! I should enjoy the present..
Yayaya!! This is very boring ya!
Thanks for at least reading this for those who have read this! Like or reblog if you enjoyed it!

Tamaki Amajiki x Reader
Buy me a coffee!! <3
----
(Y/n) -
I love your cute smile.
I love your amazing laugh.
I love your silly jokes.
I love the way you make me feel - all warm and tingly inside.
I love that we have similar interests.
I love looking through your pictures.
I love smiling to myself when I think about you.
I love how enthusiastic I am to talk about you.
I love how dedicated I am to you.
I love the idea that we could be something more.
I love you, inside and out.
Tamaki's pale, pointy ears twitched nervously. The note he had written (after around seven failed drafts), conveyed almost all his feelings, but it still couldn't quite capture the real essence of his love. You seemed way out of his league - unbelievably pretty, sweet and kind, popular with students and staff alike. He always felt dejected, never hopeful, but his best friend (the exasperatingly energetic Mirio Togata) finally managed to convince the timid elf to let his emotions bleed on to paper. Tamaki wasn't about to let you find it, however, relinquishing any chance he might have had with you. Opening and closing his butterfly-embellished A5 notebook, an expression of utter embarrassment plastered on to his features, he made a point to sigh loudly. Thankfully, this didn't attract any unwanted attention, since he was currently alone in the classroom. Not even Mirio was eating with him today, which he thought odd, but perhaps the outgoing, bubbly boy had ultimately admitted defeat - Tamaki was surely a lost cause.
His Sasuke-esque indigo locks ghosted the notebook as he lowered his head, bashing it lightly on the table. How stupid could he be? Why would he even bother writing out something so humiliating? What if you did get hold of it? You might make fun of his feelings, although this stabbing sensation in his gut told him otherwise.
"But," He started, voice trembling like white noise. "T-This is my first love...if she rejects me, that will confirm I'm worthless, right? Not worthy of being a hero - not even a human being. I might as well be a potato, but I probably wouldn't be a good potato; I'd be the kind of deformed potato that gets thrown away before it can be sold. A worthless potato..."
Someone laughed a monstrous laugh, startling Tamaki out of his seat.
"You really like potatoes, huh Tamaki?"
"M-Mirio..."
Tamaki placed a hand over his clothed chest, feeling the vicious vibrations of his heart, pounding against his rib-cage in an effort to be released. Where would it run to, he wondered. The answer was blindingly obvious, yet he chose not to believe it. Surely you wouldn't accept the invitation into his deepest, darkest parts, where the monsters burrowed and the beastly thoughts dwelled...Who was he kidding? There was nothing cool or mysterious, extraordinary or interesting about him. That would likely be the reason for your distance. Tamaki's head hung low as he processed this, a frigid air seeming to hang around him alone. Other than the righteous blonde who stood before him, Tamaki was always alone. He always had been, and figured that he always would. Some things were simply destined never to change; they remained the same regardless of time or events. If the two of you weren't meant to be together, the universe would soon tell him definitively.
That smiling mass of muscle noticed his friend's dismay rather quickly.
"Let me guess - is it (Y/n)?"
Hoping that a hole in the ground would suddenly appear to swallow him up, Tamaki only nodded. He was afraid that the more he spoke of his love, the more his voice would break. It was a secluded classroom for now, sure, but the door was slightly ajar, and anyone could walk past. This image alone made him quiver on the spot.
"Haha! Why are you on the ground, Tamaki? I'm sure if you just tell her, everything will go your way!" Mirio beamed, although he didn't manage to instil much confidence in the indigo-haired boy.
Tamaki shielded his eyes. "Too bright..." He mumbled, but Mirio seemed not to hear him.
Instead, he resumed his monologue: "(Y/n) is really nice, so she'd never let you down! D'you remember that time she stayed after school with you to help tidy up, even though it wasn't her turn? Or what about when that guy tried to play a prank on you in our second year, and she stopped him? She was so badass, and I'm sure she likes you back! Why wouldn't she?"
"Because..." Tamaki stammered, almost incoherently. "I'm nothing compared to her. She's so amazing, and I'm...just me."
"Maybe she likes 'just you'!" The blonde pressed, desperate for his friend not to fall deeper into despair.
Tamaki shook his head, signalling his complete denial - it was too convenient to ever come true.
Soon, the bell echoed across UA, and students rushed in for their next class. Tamaki took his place once again, that always-present, gloomy aura repelling everyone. Almost everyone. Your seat was directly next to his, and he had yet to realise, but you were slowly moving your desk closer to his. Midnight made her entrance, and the lesson began. You spared a few glances to the side, gauging Tamaki's current mood. Mirio was seated a couple of desks away, but he made a sort of bird-call-like gesture to you. Midnight didn't notice, but some of your classmates sniggered. Mirio pointed to Tamaki. His notebook had been haphazardly tucked away under a pile of books and stationary, but you could see a beautiful blue butterfly - an Adonis Blue, and a male at that. A smile enveloped your face, as you wondered what secrets were buried within the pages.
Glancing back towards Mirio, you saw him nod. Not two seconds later, he stood up to brag about a presentation he had done for homework. It was bound to be awful, but you appreciated the signal; it was a distraction, to ensure that you could swipe the notebook without getting caught. It worked, and soon enough, it was splayed out on your desk, a range of colourful butterflies appearing to stare up at you. Tamaki still hadn't acknowledged the theft, so you decided to read. This was okay...right? After all, if it was something Mirio wanted you to examine, then it must be important, and it definitely involved you. Mirio wasn't the type to be cruel to his friends. You turned the cover, and started to flick through. You frowned - what was going on? Gazing towards the boisterous blonde, you shot him a quizzical look. While everyone was concentrating on Midnight, he mouthed a singular word: poem.
You tried again, and this time, you found exactly what you were looking for.
(Y/n) -
I love your cute smile.
I love your amazing laugh.
I love your silly jokes.
I love the way you make me feel - all warm and tingly inside.

I love smiling to myself when I think about you.
I love how enthusiastic I am to talk about you.
I love how dedicated I am to you.
I love the idea that we could be something more.
I love you, inside and out.
Tears were welling in your eyes, but you refused to wet the page. This was such a heartfelt confession. You dried your eyes, determined to write a tribute to love more eloquent than Tamaki's. However, your mission was a disaster. Words abandoned you and there was only one thought swirling around in the vast potion of your mind. So, taking a deep breath, you inked it on to the paper, watching your simple phrase manifest with pride.
Tamaki, I love you more than you will ever know.

A Conversation with a Known Stranger
SasuNaru(OneShot)
Summary: There’s this dance club that Naruto love to go to after work on Fridays. Why? Because Fridays are (men night) meaning there’s nothing but gorgeous men in the club. Naruto was shocked to see a known stranger there at the bar. It was Sasuke Uchiha. His long time crush. Wait, what?
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the plot
“Care for a dance?”
Naruto turned around to see a guy standing in front of him. They were about the same height. The guy had long brown hair, the end of it tied with a ponytail with purple like eyes. He had his hand out with a small smile on his face.
Naruto chuckled. “Uh, no thank you. Thanks for asking.”
The guy shrugged his shoulders and dance his back towards a group of other men on the dance floor. Naruto cocked his head to the side as he tried to make out what song was currently playing at the club and smirked. It was a Lady Gaga song. Of course.
Naruto wasn’t in the dancing mood as of yet because he had just gotten off from his shift at the hospital he worked at with his best friend Sakura Haruno who was the lead nurse. He knew that he couldn’t break his tradition of going to his favorite club that he has been going since he came out publicly at the age of twenty-one. Sakura wanted to come with him but had a date night with her girlfriend Ino and couldn’t make it.
He tried to slip by the group of sweaty, shirtless men that was dancing around him as he made his way to the bar area. Don’t get him wrong, he loves sweaty and shirtless men around him, however, he needs a couple of drinks in his system before dancing along with them.
He sighed in relief when he finally spotted the bar at the far end coroner of the club. He could see his favorite bar tender Kakashi Hatake, pouring a drink into a glass for someone.
As he had gotten closer to the bar, he could easily see that the customer had shoulder length raven hair and wore a three piece black suit. His mouth dropped opened when the customer turned his head slightly to look at the dance floor. It was his long time crush, Sasuke Uchiha.
Sasuke turned back around to look at Kakashi. Kakashi doesn’t show his face due to personal reasons, so he hides his face using a cloth from his nose to his chin to conceal it. Naruto and Kakashi locked eyes for a few seconds and quickly looked away. When Naruto first started to come here, he would confide to him about his crush he had on Sasuke since he was in elementary school and that’s how he knew that he liked the same gender rather than the opposite. He could’ve swore that Sasuke left Japan to work at the family business overseas. So why was he here? At the gay club? For gay people?
Naruto took a deep breath, trying to hide his nerves as he made it to the bar to sit next to him. He tried to act smooth and cool as he slip into the bar stool and accidentally almost trip on the metal that was on the bottom of the stool. Both Kakashi and Sasuke looked him. Naruto laughed. “Don’t mind me. I meant to do that. Really.”
Sasuke rolled his eyes at him as he picked up his glass of his drink. Naruto waved his friend Kakashi over with his hand. Kakashi raised an eyebrow at him as he placed a hand onto his hip. “The usual?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Naruto smirked at him and nodded at him. “You should know my drink by now.” He said with a laugh.
Kakashi shrugged his shoulders when he placed a glass in front of Naruto. He grabbed a can of Coke and rum that was underneath the bar. Naruto watched him as he poured the coke in first and then the rum and then mixed it together nicely with a stirring stick. “Enjoy.” He told Naruto with a wink as he moved down the bar to take care of other people, leaving him and Sasuke completely alone.
Naruto gripped his glass hard as he took a sip of his drink. “Bastard.” He muttered. Kakashi knew what he was doing, leaving them alone.
“Tt. Wouldn’t peg you to be a rum and coke type.”
Naruto turned to see Sasuke staring at him. Was he actually talking to him right now? Was he dreaming? He bit his lower lip. “How so?” He asked him, taking another sip of drink as he tried not to freak out.
Sasuke hummed as he took a drink of how own drink. Once finished, he flipped over the cup face down on the napkin that he had. “I just know.”
Naruto looked back over at his brown drink. It’s true, rum and coke wouldn’t be first drink he would choose but he would only drink it if it’s at the club because Kakashi makes it just right. He scoffed at him. “Kakashi makes the best rum and coke. Which is why I always drink it here.”
Sasuke didn’t respond to him. Instead, he turned his stool around to face the dancers on the dance floor as a Post Malone sang came on from the speakers. Naruto eyed him sideways, still wondering why he was here. He wants to talk to him, but he’s scared shitless. He would always watch Sasuke from afar. Naruto would remember times when he would leaned against his locker as his best friend Kiba Inuzuka chatted about some girl he wanted to talk to, but Naruto would always block him out each time he would see Sasuke walking down the hallways of the high school they went together. He would have girls swarming around him as he walked straight ahead, ignoring advances each girl tried to give him. Naruto could’ve swore Sasuke glanced at him as he walked passed him, his eyes narrowing at him before looking away and disappeared around the corner for his advanced math class. Yes, Naruto had memorized his class schedule.
Would Sasuke remember him? Naruto wasn’t popular like Sasuke, though he was still noticeable due to famous pranks he would place around the school before summer break. He wants to know if Sasuke remembers him. However, again, he’s scared shitless. He gulped down the last bit of his drink, trying to find the courage to talk to him once more. He opened his mouth about to speak when his voice stopped him.
“Naruto Uzumaki.”
He blinked a few times and shook his head. Did, did Sasuke just said his name? Naruto bit his lower lip when Sasuke turned to look at him. “You’re Naruto Uzumaki are you not?”
Naruto nodded fast in his response. He knows his name! He actually knows his name! But how? That’s what Naruto wants to know. He cleared his throat as he place a hand into his jean pocket. “Y-you remember me?”
Sasuke rolled his eyes, waving at Kakashi over to bring him another drink. Naruto and Kakashi eyed at each other briefly before the silver haired bartender walked his way back over towards a group older guys at the bar.
“Who could forget about the one who had released the cicada bugs into the hallways of the school junior year.”
Naruto laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his head. Junior year, Naruto had a brilliant idea about gathering up the cicada bugs that had recently came out of hibernation and released them throughout the school. It was his best prank yet to start his summer break. Though Principal Tsunande wasn’t quite as happy with him. She made him sit through detention all summer every Saturday. “Yeaaaa, that was me! Best prank ever I’ll say.” He said with another laugh.
Sasuke chuckled quietly. He had to admit it was quite a scene when he had walked down the halls seeing dead bugs everywhere. Girls would scream at the sight of them, freaking out and wanting to know who had committed this prank. Turns out, it was some blonde kid named Naruto Uzumaki, notoriously known as some idiot who pulls pranks at the end of each year before summer break. He didn’t know that the guy in front of him even existed until his friend Suigetsu talked about him. Interesting.
“What brings you here Sasuke? You, you do know what kind of club this is don’t you?”
Sasuke turned his stool around so he could face the blonde in front of him and scoffed. “I’m not an idiot, dope. I know what kind of club this is.”
Naruto cocked his head to the side at his answer. That didn’t answer his question. He wants to push further but knew it’s not his place, but he was just curious after all. “I thought you moved overseas.”
Sasuke shrugged his shoulders. “I did. Moved back a couple of days ago.” He sighed as he balled up his fists. “For good.”
Naruto raised an eyebrow. “Can I ask why?”
“No.”
Naruto hummed to the latest BTS song that was now playing overhead. Damnit, now he’s pissed at him. Crap. “S-sorry for prying.” He muttered, turning around to look at the dancers on the dance floor.
Sasuke grunted when he ran a hand through his hair. “I didn’t mean it to come out like that. It’s just,” he rolled his eyes towards the ceiling. “Family issues. That’s why I’m back.”
Naruto glanced back at him and nod his head with understanding and smirked at him. “Welcome back.”
Sasuke smirked back him. “I guess.”
Naruto thought for a few seconds after the BTS song had ended and now the DJ started to play a Coldplay song. He pointed towards the dance floor. “Do you, um,” he stuttered, getting nervous. Again. “Wanna dance?”
Sasuke shook his head. “I don’t dance. Sorry.”
Naruto sighed in disappointment. Well, at least he tried. Naruto bit his lower lip as he tapped his shoe against the chair with the beat of the Coldplay song that was still playing. They didn’t talk for a while after that. They sat in a comfortable silence staring at the half naked guys on the dance floor to the beat of the song, yelling and having a blast.
“I didn’t know that you were gay.”
Naruto glanced at him when Sasuke said that. Sasuke wasn’t looking at him, his eyes were still glued to the guys on the dance floor. “I came out at twenty-one.”
Sasuke huffed at his answer. “Congrats.” He told him, raising his glass towards him.
Naruto gave him a small smile. “Thanks. I-I didn’t know that you were gay too.” To be honest, he always hoped that Sasuke was gay. He always dreamed that Sasuke liked guys too. However, his dream was shuttered in high school when he started dating a red head named Amaya Sora, a fellow senior in his year. Could he really be gay after all?
“Tt, I’m bisexual.”
Naruto’s ears perked up with interest. Well, at least he still like guys. “That’s really neat! Are you out to everyone too then?”
Naruto gulped when he saw Sasuke frowned at his question. Crap, did he make him mad again? “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. I understand! It’s highly personal and you don’t have to come out right away! It happens all the time. It—“
“That’s why I’m back. My family,” he growled lowly, biting the inside of his cheek. “Is not very accepting. Which is why I am back. My brother is taking over the company overseas to replace me.” He balled his fists up in anger, not even wincing when his fingernails digged into his palm.
Naruto eyed at his fist, mentally punching himself in the face. He reached up slowly to place a hand over Sasuke’s closed fist. Sasuke’s head snapped over at him at the touch. “Fuck them. You are very brave to come out. Not a lot of people have that courage. You can finally be your true self Sasuke. Without hiding anymore.”
Sasuke took a deep breath as he released his fist and looked down at Naruto’s hand on top of his. He smirked when he saw that they practically matched. “Thank you, Naruto. For saying that.”
Naruto smiled him, trying not to freaking out that his hand was still on Sasuke’s.
Sasuke sighed when he pulled his hand out from under Naruto and stood up from the bar stool. He reached into his pocket to place a couple of bills on the counter to pay for his drink. “I should be heading back. It’s late.”
Naruto nodded when he looked up at the clock that was over at the bar. The clock read 3AM. Have they really been talking since he got here at 9:30? Wow, time sure did move fast. “R-right, me too.” He said, yawning as he stood up from the stool and place the same amount of bills on the counter for his drink. “Had a long ass shift today at Konoha Hospital.”
Sasuke chuckled. “Interesting. What do you do? Sakura Haruno also works there correct?”
“Yes she does! She’s a lead nurse now and I’m a nurse. Who would’ve thought I would survive nursing school.”
Sasuke pursed his lips. “That’s interesting. Listen,” he said with a sigh. “Thank you, for tonight. Again.”
Naruto blushed. “Y-you’re welcome, Sasuke anytime!”
Sasuke walked passed him and placed a hand onto his shoulder. “Maybe next Friday I’ll see you here?”
Naruto’s insides were doing jumping jacks. “I’m always here on Fridays.”
Sasuke smirked as he gave his shoulder a squeeze. “Good. See you then.” He waved at him as he walked away, leaving Naruto speechless.
“Holy fuck. Did that just happened?” Naruto asked himself once Sasuke disappeared outside. Naruto pinched himself and yelped at the pain. “It did!”
A/N: so I always liked this pairing so I thought I should give it a shot at it lol. I know they didn’t kiss or anything like that but I just thought it was a nice idea lol. Tell me what you guys think!

Theory: The True Voice of Yusuke Urameshi
Tumblr media
By: Casea Mhtar, @madamekrow
Yu Yu Hakusho is ultimately my favourite anime, to the point where I can’t bear the thought of liking an anime more than it. For example, Berserk (1997) will be my “number 1” while Yu Yu Hakusho has exceeded the list altogether because its pedestal is just that high. That is the length I must go to secure a strange sense of balance for myself and stave off yet another identity crisis for a different reason. So you can probably imagine how much chaos was thrown at me when I found out that Yusuke Urameshi’s voice actor is completely different than the one I vividly recall when I found myself rewatching the series a few weeks ago. I have a memory of my sister and I watching a single episode she had taped on VCR and we would specifically watch the credits nonstop. We were trying to memorize the song (with great success, I might add).
At the time, there was still no means of listening to the ending theme anywhere other than its source. YouTube wasn’t really a thing, and even if it was we didn’t have access to the same databases we have today. So we watched that part over and over and over again. I remember etching each image into our minds, every lyric into our internal roster of songs as it played on repeat. The names kept popping up just as they did before the last and the voice actor of Yusuke Urameshi, my favorite character, was none other than Yuri Lowenthal.
Tumblr media
I distinctly recall thinking “Yuri, that’s a cool name” to myself as his name came up again and again. Not to be rude, but “Justin Cook” just isn’t exactly a name that would elicit such a thought from me and, indeed, never came to mind since I am certain it wasn’t in the credits of my beloved Yu Yu Hakusho VHS.
So, in my rewatching of the show, present-day me had the initial assumption that what was going on here was a perverse version of the Mandela Effect. However, looking into it now, I feel that completely waters down my experience and doesn’t actually explain what happened.
I mean, I can’t simply ignore my recollection as being a false memory, as every Mandela Effect is reasoned away with. No. I needed to find true reasoning for this madness.
For the sake of convenience and for the lack of a better theory, I will settle on there being an unexplained dimensional shift. Certainly, any reasonable person could argue that I made a mistake. I simply misread the credits, maybe even pulled that name from somewhere else. Or perhaps Yuri was Yusuke’s voice actor from a different dub! But that isn’t the case as seen in this YouTube video comparing EVERYONE who has voiced Urameshi.
undefined
youtube
So... Let’s say this was all a misunderstanding on my part. BUT THEN it didn’t just end with me incorrectly reading names in the credits over and over. I didn’t wrongly perceive the Funimation dubbing as being someone else and then call it a day. I was validated in my belief for a long period of time by outside sources.
.Hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth (2006)
Tumblr media
The overall series of .Hack// is a subject I will certainly indulge in more in the future, but for the purpose of staying on-topic, I shall restrain myself. The reason I bring it up now is because in 2006, when .Hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth was released (I will always say it in full!), the protagonist--Haseo--sounded so familiar. I couldn’t quite figure it out until I saw who was credited with the voice acting. Out loud, in front of witnesses (if you count my birds), I said, “Yuri Lowenthal?. . . Wait, is that the voice of-”
I looked up his name to find he was-at that time-credited as the voice of Yusuke Urameshi. Quite a mistake that is since officially he is unlisted in the series yet multiple people around the world think otherwise, the same as me. Not only that, but updating all of Lowenthal’s pages to be credited with Haseo in addition to Urameshi. Many people had to review those pages, many people happened upon those pages and never bothered to correct them. That’s what really gets me. Sure, if my Ego was backed into a corner then yes, I can perhaps admit that my eyeballs had failed me and that’s all you’re gonna get out of me! Yet there is no copy I can find of him voicing the character online.
Could this be an example of lost media instead then? Well, no. Apparently not. Most anyone I’ve told about this believes I am confusing him with someone else. They may not remember “Justin Cook” at the top of their heads, however they are adamant about Yuri Lowenthal never, ever voicing Yusuke Urameshi. Because he didn’t... in this dimension.
Perhaps I truly am mixing him up his voice with a different character? Yuri Lowenthal is also famously the voice actor for Sasuke Uchiha in the english dub of Naruto. An extremely popular character from an anime that is surrounded by an enormous and ever growing fan base. The problem with that is, I’ve never watched Naruto. I didn’t even know Lowenthal was in any way a part of Naruto until I was somewhat adjusted into adulthood. When explaining my entire theory to a friend, I asked them if they can imagine the essence of an other-dimensional Yusuke within the voice of Haseo.
“All I hear is Sasuke from Naruto,” They bluntly said.
I’ll be honest... That hurt more than it should have, but I swallowed my pride and looked into it since I’ve never actually heard what Sasuke sounds like.
What I begrudgingly find is that my friend was right. Again, this was the first time I had ever heard Yuri Lowenthal as Sasuke and I didn’t know that he was the voice actor until a few years prior. This entire ordeal leaves me feeling unnerved that there are so many loopholes being found in the False Memory Theory. It can’t be completely dismissed as large scale misinformation or misremembering. That is why I had to settle on the theory that there was some strange dimensional shift, even with how outlandish that sounds.
The Discovery
Tumblr media
I don’t know when it occurred and I’m not sure how I missed it, but it happened. You would think being thrust out of your prior dimension, or being crammed into a different one, would have some sort of impact. Maybe that’s why I developed back problems during my teenage years, I can’t really say. All I can recall is the feeling of my stomach hitting the floor through the bottom of my feet when I finally found out. I was watching the DVD box set of Yu Yu Hakusho that my friend lent me and I could immediately tell something was not right. Yusuke didn’t sound anything like I remembered, the voice--the tone--was weird, his inflections were way off, it was all wrong! WRONG, I TELL YOU. So, to the internet I went only to find someone else being credited...
Tumblr media
“Justin Cook this” and “Justin Cook that” appeared all over. There was even a video of him yelling “spirit gun” for a fan and I was still in disbelief! There was no way! This wasn’t possible!
Apparently, in this dimension it is though, and that is a fact that I will have to live with for the rest of my life... or until reality throws me back to my own dimension. The knowledge that I will look crazy whenever I tell this story, as well as the reality that there could be more dubs out their with voices unknown. Not just voice actors, but entire animes—maybe video games, even people I thought I knew! Who knows what was left behind with Yuri Lowenthal as Urameshi! I don’t care to think about it too much. My heart is wounded enough I tell you. I already have a crippling fear of one day finding out my whole life is a lie—I don’t need to rack my brain about all of this as well.
In Conclusion,
Yuri Lowenthal was fantastic as Urameshi and I wish I could somehow put my memory into an audio clip for everyone to hear. Not so much to prove that he was better, but to solidify why my experience is very real to me. Though, if you did hear the Yusuke that I knew, I truly believe you would think it was pretty good at the very least. (Not that Justin is bad... just that it feels wrong to my beloved memory... sorry Mr. Cook.) On the bright side, Lowenthal is plenty successful and I am always rooting for him regardless. Sure, Justin Cook is my “number 1” Urameshi in this dimension, but the Yuri Lowenthal rendition that doesn’t exist in this world has exceeded the list all together in my heart. His pedestal is just too high.
What about those of you reading this? Do any of you have a similar experience? Maybe you also remember Yuri Lowenthal as Yusuke Urameshi! Let us know! (Let ME know! Please--I beg someone to find a copy if one exsists in this world. 😭)
Happy Wednesday. I guess. Bye.

17 & 18 & 19👀✨
Aaaaaaaahhh, thank you so much for the ask!!! :’) 17. biggest anime crush <- this is a hard one, lol.
I have A LOT of anime crushes, honestly, haha. Whoops. It’s a problem I have…
But I’ll say a few so I don’t, like, overwhelm you HAHA.
I think that if I had to choose my biggest crush between all my anime crushes, it would be a tie between Bakugou Katsuki and Yuri Plisetsky, haha. (… I kinda have a “type” don’t I? Lmao.) [[Edited: AND LIO FIOTA. OMG. I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT, I HAVE THE BIGGEST FAT CRUSH ON HIM. IT’S DEFINITELY A TIE BETWEEM THE THREE OF THEM. He’s literally the definition of “he’s beauty, he’s grace, he will punch you in the face”. LIKE. He’s strong, so so so kind, cool, selfless, passionate, SO STUNNING AND PRETTY, and just. Every time he kicks someone’s ass I fall in love a bit more. AKSJKLSJD.]]
They both have me completely on my knees, LOL. And both since the very start of their characters, if I’m completely honest. I love their determination, their passion, the effort they put into all they do despite their bright, innate talent. I honestly could ramble about why I love both with so much of my heart it’s ridiculous, but only if you have, like… time for a 9458298472 slide presentation… ahaha.
Rin Okumura, Kamado Tanjiro, Levi Ackerman and Sasuke Uchiha are SUUUPER close, too. (And I sure have a lot more, lol, but, basically, yeah. Those are the ones that have me head-over-heels, believe it or not.)
18. 10 worst anime you have watched:
Noooo, friend, you ask me something I can’t answer!!!! I have animes I didn’t particularly love, but they’re not… that terrible. It’s more like I think they had more potential or that I despise/hate certain characters on it, but not the anime in general.
That said, I’ll mention a few:
*Spiritpact. I’m not sure, but I think this one is actually popular? I saw it all because I had been seeing a lot of gifs of it around, but I honestly got bored? The story didn’t particularly attract me, neither the characters. And hey, this is just my opinion, obviously, but, yeah. I thought the plot was very basic and I usually don’t mind if I like the characters, but I didn’t feel any connection or love to the characters in general? I don’t know, maybe I was expecting more of it with all the hype. I’m not saying I hated it, I liked some moments but after two seasons I just… expected a lot more, I guess.
Now, the ones I actually dropped:
*Servamp: I had seen a lot of amazing opinions about this one, so I gave it a chance, and honestly? Not my thing. I loved the first episode REALLY a lot, but that’s it. The “big villain” was very dumb, for me, a lot of characters’ relationships felt rushed, the plot wasn’t really exciting me, so… yeah. I think I dropped it on the fourth or fifth, just so you know how rapidly I got bored of it after loving the first one, haha.
*Btoom!: when I saw the trailer, I was like “HOT DAMN, I N E E D TO WATCH THIS”, got to see the first three episodes I think?? And if I’m honest that was WAY back. I don’t really remember what annoyed me/bored me so much about it, but I think it was the main girl?? Haha. I don’t know, maybe I had really high expectations or so. I don’t remember exactly why I dropped it but I remember getting pretty annoyed at one character HAHA. The plot still sounds hella interesting, tho, I’ll maybe give it chance later.
*Zetsuen no Temptest: I started watching it because of a ship but I got bored, too, hahaha. I don’t remember why, either, but yeah, I thought it was good at the beginning… but I didn’t watch more than 3 episodes, I think, haha. Aaaah. I hate not remembering exactly why I dropped it, lol. But it’s kinda the same thing: the characters and the plot wasn’t really exciting me.
The ones I do hate:
*School Days. I H A T E this anime with a burning passion, lmao. One friend rec it to me and told me, and I quote, “it’s really interesting!! I liked the ending, it’s very realistic”. Well, yeah, shit. HAHA. I don’t like the plot; I DESPISE, LOATHE, AND HATE the main character, I don’t like the two main girls (and all the characters tbh), and overall I dislike the plot in general. It’s dumb, stupid, the characters are not likable, and that “shocking” ending doesn’t do much for me. It’s not “realistic” or anything, it’s a fuckboy and two crazy girls, and yeah, not my thing at all. I was sitting there at 1am after finishing it like “what the fuck did I just watch” lmao. Ugh. I really don’t like this one.
*Mayoiga: I don’t know if this one it’s popular, so pardon me, LOL. I just watched it a few days ago and… yeah. I wouldn’t say I hate it. I don’t hate it. But I saw the summary in a rec anime list and got excited and… I just expected something different, I guess. I was looking for horror, suspense, I don’t know… but instead I got moral lessons LOL. Honestly, the “traumas” of the characters were interesting, I absolutely LOVE some characters, and some of them I don’t particularly love them but they’re really interesting. It has really good scenes. The animation is really good. IT HAD POTENTIAL. A LOT. But I don’t like the main character because he’s really fucking boring and basic/plain. He’s just the typical protagonist but done in an annoying way, imo. Masaki is also annoying as fuck imo, lol. I don’t like that the only thing she does at the start is crying and I don’t like how they very much focus on Protagonist Obsession on her like 80% on the anime and on her being a victim. It’s fucking annoying. They’re the least interesting characters, imo (so much that Protagonist had an interesting background and made it boring…), and they focus way too much on them. They had interesting characters, interesting subplots. If they focused on the others instead, if they focused on developing more the characters, their relationships, it would have been a LOT better! But no. It just felt rushed and poorly done by the end. I liked a few plot-twists but overall it felt really rushed because they didn’t focus on the things they SHOULD, so it just felt wrapped up badly, imo. Honestly expected so much more of this one, it had such an amazing start, the creepy vibes were ON POINT, the scenery, certain characters, the mystery (that was solved poorly too imo), it just… I don’t know, I don’t hate it because it has good points, but by the end, I felt like I really wasted my time on this one. The potential it had…
ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, of course!!!
19. favorite anime ships
Okay, so. I won’t talk about them because if I do, then I’ll never shut up LMAO (but feel free to ask me about them any time and I’ll ramble a whole lot, be sure of that, haha). So I’ll just mention them in no particular order (brace yourself, they’re a lot. And yeah, I’m almost equally obsessed with every single one LOL):
Sasunaru/Narusasu from Naruto
Todobaku, Bakudeku and Shinkami from BNHA
Asheiji from Banana Fish (this ship T-T)
Kagehina from Haikyuu!!
Abemiha and Tajihana from Oofuri
Mikayuu and Yuunoa from Owari No Seraph
Kagakuro and Midotaka from Kuroko no Basket
Honoka Maki/Tsuguhito Yuta from Kiznaiver
Tanaka/Oda from Tanaka-kun Wa Itsumo Kedaruge
Shion/Nezumi from No. 6
Abeshiya from Fukigen na Mononokean
Ioriku from IDOLISH7
Galolio from Promare
Nagisa/Karma from Assassination Classroom
Satoru/Airi and Satoru/Kenya from Erased
Yato/Hiyori from Noragami
Ymir/Historia and Jean/Armin from SNK
KITE/Koga from Japan Sinks 2020

Day 5: Red string of Fate (Sasuhina Month 2019) - Part 1
@sasuhinamonth
Join us for the wedding of Yuuhi Kurenai and Sarutobi Asuma on….
He was the groomsman she was partnered with to walk down the aisle as Kurenai's bridesmaid.
She had fervently hoped to be paired with the gorgeously tanned blonde by the name of Uzumaki Naruto, instead she got his best friend.
His name was Uchiha Sasuke. He was devastatingly handsome in his crisp well fitted suit and combed back hair. Tenten had overheard a group of girls gossiping about him. He was extremely popular among women, but his attitude left much to be desired. That was what she got from them.
He was polite to her when they were introduced. Then he was aloof while the bridesmaids and groomsmen were chatting in a group right before the walk.
So, Hinata was pleasantly surprised when Sasuke reached out to her at the reception. She was sitting alone at a round table with a quiet old couple, having refused several invitations from her friends and some single men to dance, because her heels were killing her. Also, Tenten had warned her that all the single men at weddings hoped to get into the panties of bridesmaids. And the last thing she wanted was to become someone's easy lay.
But Sasuke seemed gentlemanly. He offered her a flute of champagne, seeing the one she was holding was already empty. He told her that he was working in partnership with his brother running their family's security services firm in Tokyo. She told him about how it was her first year as a full fledged nurse at a hospital in Kyoto. After talking about their families, he suggested an exit to the lush gardens. She agreed easily, and he offered to pick up her heels while she walked barefoot out to the patio.
The found a bench just in time to see the sun set over the backdrop of the rural village Kurenai had picked as the wedding destination. He wasn't much of a talker, his questions were direct and his answers on point. But he heard every word she had to say, his gaze lingered on her when she spoke, his smirk made her blush and when his hands fell over hers on the wooden bench, she didn't pull away.
She looked at their clasped hands and then at him with her uniquely big gray eyes. His eyes seemed to drink all of her in, as he said, "I don't think I've mentioned this… But I think you are absolutely breathtaking."
Her heart hammered against her chest, when he slowly leaned forward with obvious intention, but also giving her plenty of time and opportunity to back away if she wanted to. But she didn't. She wanted this too.
Their kiss was soft at first, gently nipping and stroking. But gradually, the movements evolved to something much more sensual. He was the first one to hold her by her nape for leverage, and then it was her grabbing on to the lapels of his jacket.
When they parted for air, he asked her if she wanted to come up to his room at the hotel. She could only nod, since she felt tongue tied after that heated kiss.
Quickly dodging all the guests, they made their way to the elevator. Luckily, they found an empty one, and quickly got on. He couldn't keep his hands off of her all the way to the outside of his room, her curves moulded to the satin of her champagne coloured wrap dress feeling heavenly under his hands. He quickly swiped his card and opened the door to find the lights of his room on. He let her in and closed the door behind them.
But Hinata stilled to see the view the woman in front of her. Dressed in the skimpiest of lingerie, a tall skinny pink haired woman was standing in the middle of the room, mirroring the expression of horror that was on Hinata's face.
"What the fuck are you doing here Sakura??!!", Sasuke's voice behind her, was low but filled with rage.
It made the woman named Sakura snap into action as she swiftly picked up a matching robe and put it on.
"I… I thought of surprising you.. It's your birthday tomorrow… So I asked Naruto for help… But….Who is she?", there was obvious displeasure in her voice as she questioned Hinata's presence.
"Whoever she is, is none of your business. Nor is my personal life. We broke up more than four months back. And for the last time, I would like things to remain that way between us.", he gritted his teeth as he tried to stop himself from lashing out. "So get the fuck out of this room."
Hinata who stood frozen, digested everything that was said. Her mind replaying Tenten's advice earlier that day. She had acted foolishly, letting momentary pleasure blind her rational thinking. She got chills when she realised that she was about to jump into a stranger's bed. A stranger who had sweet talked her. A stranger who had an absolutely stunning woman as an ex-girlfriend, and was on the verge of kicking said woman out.
"No.", she spoke up for the first time since facing Sakura. "I'll leave."
She could not even look at Sasuke's face, as he muttered her name in shock. "Hinata… Wait…. Look… This is all a misunderstanding…. Sakura and I broke up a long time back…"
"Is four months a long time for you?", she whispered incredulously. "I'm sorry, but I can't stay anymore."
"Why? She should leave. Not you. Just stay. Please. We were having a good time."
"Well, that's because I was not thinking straight… But now that I am finally, I'd rather sleep out in the cold than get into your bed."
Sasuke seemed frustrated as he brushed his hair back with his fingers, before trying again. "Fuck..Okay… We don't have to sleep together… Let's just talk… Okay?"
But she had made up her mind. "I'm sorry Mr. Uchiha, but I have to go."
-
Sasuke decided to give her the night to cool off after throwing Sakura out of the room and giving Naruto an earful. Early next morning, he called the receptionist, not wanting to disturb the newlyweds, for Hinata's room number or contact details. But he was informed that Hyuuga Hinata had checked out almost more than an hour back.
---
Thirteen months later
You are cordially invited to the marriage of Sabaku Temari and Nara Shikamaru on Saturday, the….
It was weird being the girlfriend of the bride's younger brother. You weren't exactly part of the family, but you were still more important than some of the attendees. You had to help around with some of the preparations, but you did not really have a say in anything. You were just there.
Not that Hinata wanted any of that. She was happy to help as much as she could, but she did not want to step on any toes. She had dressed up fairly quickly in a knee length off shoulder red dress. Her hair was also in an updo leaving her fringe to frame her face.
She stood beside her boyfriend of five months Sabaku Gaara, and his brother Kankuro, also with Shikamaru's parents to welcome the guests. She did not have to do much except smile, only a handful of people she was actually friends with, had been invited. So when she heard a loud voice calling Gaara, she snapped her head up to see a group of young adults walk in - Naruto, she would never forget him and his sunny disposition. Behind him was an attractive platinum blonde she had met before at Kurenai's wedding. Thinking about that fateful day, a chill ran up her spine. And right on cue, he walked in. Sasuke. He was dressed in all black, and it reminded her of why she had been fooled by him.
His eyes found hers and he was taken by surprise. She glanced away at Naruto who was shaking hands and talking to Gaara. Seconds later, Gaara greeted Sasuke too and then introduced Hinata, unaware of their short shared history.
"This is Hyuuga Hinata, my girlfriend."
She gave a shaky smile and outstretched her hand to a shocked Naruto who seemed to recognize her a second later, shaking her hand while looking back at Sasuke.
When Naruto moved away, it was Sasuke who offered her his hand, which she took hesitantly. Immediately he grabbed it with a vice like grip, and all she could remember was the familiar grip when they were all over each other in the elevator two years back.
"Good to see you Hinata."
"T-Thank you. Please enjoy the wedding festivities.", she said flatly.
"I will."
All through the vows and the reception, she could feel his stare on her. She had no clue what he wanted. It had been two years. Surely someone like him had moved on, so why was he making her uncomfortable.
Few minutes later, she excused herself from Gaara' side to visit the washroom. On her way out of the washroom, she saw Sasuke waiting. She maintained her cool and tried walking past him, but he got in front of her making her pause.
"Won't you even acknowledge my presence?"
"I'm just rushing back to my table.."
"To your boyfriend, you mean."
"Is there something you needed Mr. Uchiha?", Hinata looked at him sharply.
"Yes, I want to know why you ran away that time… You never gave me a chance to explain, your forbid your friends and Kurenai from sharing your contact details.", he bit back.
"I don't like my personal information shared with strangers I have no business with."
"I recall us being too close to be called strangers."
She looked mortified as her mind recanted the moments that she had buried in the deepest pit of her memory.
"All I know is that it's been more than an year since then.. We have to move on…. Aren't all wedding hook ups like that?…. You sleep with someone and then you forget about it."
"I didn't see it as a hookup…. And also we didn't get to actually sleep with each other.", he reminded her.
"Ah… So that's what this is about. I'm sorry to say, but you have to look for a different conquest… As you are well aware, I already have someone.",she replied acidly.
She saw his jaws clench in silence. "You like him?"
"Obviously I do."
"You love him?"
"T-That's not something y-you get to ask."
"Why not?"
"Hinata?", Gaara's voice echoed through the hallway.
Hinata looked over Sasuke's shoulder to see him, as he stared at her and Sasuke, like two pieces of puzzle, wondering about their relation to each other.
"Is something the matter?", he asked her.
"No. No. I'll be right there. Sasuke and I were just talking about something."
"I wasn't aware you knew each other."
"Just barely.",she shrugged.
Gaara blinked his eyes before nodding his head in acceptance to whatever she was spouting. "Bouquet's about to be thrown."
With that, he turned around and left. Not waiting for a moment longer, Hinata followed his path
But Sasuke wasn't done yet.
"It's been two years… But I just can't stop thinking about you…", he declared to her back. It made her stop abruptly. So he continued with what he wanted to say.
"I haven't felt this way about another woman before. I like you,.. A lot.. And although we were going to sleep with each other that night, my intention was not for a hookup like you seem to think… What you saw that evening, in my room, was something that I had no control over… Still, I was ready to apologize, because of the way I felt about you… But you got away before I could do that… "
His confession sounded genuine and heartfelt. But she couldn't just go back in time to change their circumstances.
"I guess that's our fate Mr. Uchiha… Maybe we were never meant to get involved in a relationship."
She turned back to him with a polite smile. "Have a good rest of the evening, Mr. Uchiha."

Gambler of Feelings - Chapter 19
With trembling hands, she opened the blue box that belonged to her mom to look into what's inside. Pretty stationery was sticking out.
Multiple letters.
Some of them were empty, some of them were scribbled all over with her mom's favourite black pen. But that meant the note Boruto found three months ago was real. Sarada couldn't deny evidence she held in her hands. No, she should calm down. It's not like she knows what's written in them, right? For all, she knows the rumours she heard could be baseless, and her mom is a friend of Boruto's father. Their parents seemed to know each other for some reason. All of that could be just her being unnecessarily paranoid.
Dear Naruto
Meet me today at our usual place. Don't let Hinata or anybody know about it, you know what I mean, right? Anyway, I'm counting on you!
Sakura Uchiha
Sarada recognised the words written in the first letter she took out. That was the same one Boruto pulled out three months ago and based their bet on it. She decided to ignore Boruto was peeking out from behind her shoulder since he was an involved party just like her.
 Dear Sakura
Got it! I will promise to arrive on time, believe it! Are you sure you're alright without Sasuke around? I can always call him to come back for you, ya know.
 Naruto
"Call back for dad? What for?" Sarada wondered out aloud.
"Maybe my dad, your mom and dad formed the love triangle in the past? Wouldn't surprise me, really." Boruto chimed in jokingly.
"Shush. There's more," she said, curious to see the entire exchange.
 Dear Naruto
I am sorry Hinata heard those stupid rumours. I went to explain to her everything personally.  I cannot blame her for that considering all three of us were in an open-relationship before because I wanted to make my current husband jealous. We all made stupid things when we were teenagers, right?
Thank you for keeping your promise. And no. You don't need to call Sasuke. We're not teenagers anymore focus on your family, okay?
Sakura
"I was right, ya know! In some way. The love triangle part happened with your mom and my parents. Isn't that awkward?"
Sarada was too shocked by obtaining this information behind her mom's back. She expected many things. That maybe her mom had a secret romance with Boruto's father, that maybe there's the hidden reason why she's so upset when she hears about the dream Sarada and her grandma shared. Not that Boruto's parents and her mom were in the poly-relationship as teenagers!
"It is awkward," she responded, still shocked by the things she recently learned about her mother.
Sarada felt incredibly bad for not asking her mom about everything in person and snooping around her stuff. But who could blame her? It wasn't Sarada's fault that her mom had a bad habit of hiding the family past.
It hurt she always needed to discover events hidden from her by herself.  Sarada hated her family was so-secretive sometimes. Both mama and papa supposedly did it to spare her feelings, but it had an opposite effect.
 Dear Sakura
Guilt-tripping again, eh? We all did stupid things as a teenagers, but I don't think the whole experience was negative. We are where we are because of it, right? Besides, it looks like my son is getting along with your daughter well. Both you and Hinata should meet up and explain everything to each other. I have a feeling we all meet soon considering our children are friends, ya know? We can talk about granny death in detail in person later, got it? I feel bad hiding our small letter exchange from Hinata. I don't want to make her angry.
Naruto
Sarada slid the letters to their respective envelopes and looked at Boruto to relax. "Let's stop reading these letters. I am feeling bad about reading our parents' private correspondence."
"I am shocked about some things written in here too. Mom never mentioned to me anything she did as a teenager, even if I asked her a few times." Boruto added still staring at her small collection of books
"Are you interested in borrowing a book from me?" she questioned him.
"Ahh, no. I just like how neatly those books are put." That was the weakest excuse Sarada heard coming from Boruto. Something was up, and she never had a chance to ask what was bothering him. Consumed by her own feelings, she decided to move that subject for later. However,  they were alone in her room now, so that's her only chance to ask him what's up straight up.
"Hey, what's wrong? You space out a lot lately. Are you feeling alright?" She didn't try to sound incredibly worried, but lack-of-communication with other people for so long made it an impossible task.
"It's nothing serious," he paused and directed his gaze at her. "Sarada, you have something you want to do in the future, right? Why you want to pursue that dream?"
"To make my grandma's wish come true. It's the only thing that was left to me after she died. You can think it's stupid, but I've never moved on after her death. I feel like making our dream come true can give me a sense of closure." Granny death has shaken her pretty hard. When Sarada thought about this, it was around that time she stopped talking to other people besides Chō-Chō.  She only spoke with her club members and teachers afterwards. Rest of the students were afraid of her, or just not noticed she exist.
"That's an awesome dream, ya know! Personally, I don't know what to do in the future, or with myself after I graduate. All the talks about plans for the future just makes me feel pressured, and in the end, I am unable to choose the path I want to walk on. The whole too-cool-for school act just paints me as a popular troublemaker, " he sighed, sharing his worries with her as if it was the most natural thing to do.
Sarada wanted to embrace him, tell him it's alright, and she'll help him find the dream he wanted to pursue. That people will stop seeing him as a troublemaker sooner or later. Like she did and has fallen in love with him.
Would he like to hear it from her? Boruto was popular at school, a lot of girls confessed to him daily. There's no way she could compare to them. Although, he's kind Boruto was way out of her league.
"There's some time for you to think before we graduate, or you can always accept the position of my future assistant! I need a lot of help if I want to pursue my dream too," she said. It wasn't what she really wanted to do, but Sarada hoped her words cheered him up. Just like he always did it for her, even without knowing about it.
"Thank you, Sarada," his smile came back, and she drowned in his beautiful blue eyes again. She needed to redo the Uchiha family training from the scratch. Staying composed around Boruto was starting to get harder for her as of lately.
・・・・★・・・・★ ・・・・
Boruto felt like a heavy burden left him. He spent so much on creating his 'cool'  persona, so he rarely talked about his worries. Most of the time, people didn't take him for the type that would be serious about the future.  That's why being near Sarada was like the breath of the fresh air.
"Glad to help you," Sarada said, the concern still visible on her face. It's probably the first time he was cheered up by a person that wasn't his family member nowadays.
"By the way... Are you sure it's okay for me to be in your room for so long?"  Boruto pointed out, feeling suddenly self-conscious of what he was implying.
"Yes? Is there something wrong with my room?" she tilted her head in the way she always did when he said something that was confusing to her.
Sarada was the type of girl that interacted more with books than people. He shouldn't be surprised she didn't catch on his implications, or that he enjoyed teasing her to see how dense she can be.  Her reddening cheeks every time he called her 'Lady, Meow, Meow'  were adorable to see.
"Not at all, ya know! I like how neatly you lined up the books, but I think I've told you that already?"  He needed to distract her somehow and just have fun. Having a fun time with Sarada helped him a lot recently.
"Oh, no, no, no, no! This is a disaster!" she shouted, pointing at the box where the letters they read were inside. They weren't allowed to take this box, not to mention see the content inside.
"Don't panic, Sarada! I have a great idea about what to do with this small issue. You don't have to worry about anything, ya know," he reassured her. His idea wasn't that dangerous.
"I don't like how smug you look right now. I think you came up with the idea I won't like."
"Where is your sense of adventure? Jumping out from the window in your room and hiding the box outside isn't that bad. I'll catch you, kay?" Boruto had too much fun seeing how an expression on Sarada face turned from annoyed to terrified.
"Are you crazy?! There's no way I am jumping out of my window!" she shrieked out. Was he that much of a bully when he liked spending time with his friends? The answer was a resounding 'yes'.
"Don't worry, I am reasonably crazy," he decided to smile, hoping that he can put his plan into action.
Before Sarada had a chance, he ran up to her and snatched her into his arms. He gave her the box with the letters too when he was close to the window. Luckily for him, it was open, so climbing up on the windowsill wasn't that big of a problem. Faster than lighting, he jumped through the window still securely holding Sarada that let out the loudest scream in the entire history of their friendship. Just like Boruto predicted they landed safely nearby some trees. He decided to hold Sarada in his arms longer, considering how pale she was after the sudden jumping.
"See? I told you I am reasonably crazy." Boruto knew he played with fire here. However, it was so amusing to see the new expressions Sarada showed to him lately.
"You are a moron! I thought I will die and you'll drop me down at the last minute!" The tears streamed down her cheeks. Damn. He didn't want for her to cry.
"I am sorry. But isn't this whole experience valuable? Now we know that when we're jumping through the windows, I won't ever let you down!" he said, gently putting Sarada on the ground and giving her a head pat to calm her down.
"Let's hide the box somewhere. I didn't survive this whole ordeal for it to turn out to be useless!" Uh-oh, he made her angry, or maybe not? Maybe she likes him more than she admits and his words made her embarrassed. Ha! In his dreams.
"Yeah, let's hide it."
And so they did, the box that gained the nickname of 'I cannot believe we jumped through my window'  from pretty shook Sarada because of Boruto executing his crazy idea.
"I don't understand why you have fangirls with that type of character," Sarada muttered, the night sky reflecting her beauty.
"Because I am great. Though, I don't care about fangirls opinions that much." Boruto cared just about the opinion of people that were close to him, he just left it unsaid unable to tell her such cheesy words.
"I thought so before too. That I don't care about the opinion of strangers, but by meeting you, I very soon discovered I lied to myself." Sarada's confessing something so personal wasn't a usual occurrence.
Boruto strangely didn't feel surprised by her sudden talkative mood. They both put it aside but were equally shocked by their parents hiding so many things written in those letters.  Sliding into friendship mode they had, delayed the matters they had eventually face head-on. Like having an honest conversation with the family members, finding something he wants to do in the future, supporting Sarada, overcoming his fears towards the commitments in romantic relationships... All of this was honestly overwhelming and tiring.
Maybe that's why he wanted for Sarada to open-up to him so badly. He needed a person he can freely open up to without consuming him fear that his trust will be betrayed. Boruto knew his friends had his back, but his friendship with Shikadai and the rest of the group didn't feel the same after his break-up with Asami. Well, an exception was Mitsuki that joined the club after those events.
He was hopeless, wasn't he? Allowing for this irrational fear to get in the way of his friendship with Sarada. How could she open-up and trust him when he couldn't do it in return? Running away from his problems by jumping through the window together with Sarada cannot solve anything. She was right, he really was a moron.
"You lied to yourself? Really? What made you realise you were lying to yourself?" he asked, hiding his own inner struggle.
"Boruto, you know? Once I asked myself about the meaning of feelings." Sarada hands were shaking when she averted her eyes from him. "I was thinking it wasn't worth it. Acting on something unreliable as emotions... But I-I...," her sudden outburst didn't finish yet.
She looked preoccupied to convey what she means to him without lying. Boruto couldn't help but feel glad about it. That she wanted to be honest with him of all people in her life.
At the same time, a pang of guilt hit him when listening to her words. Isn't that something he wanted? For her to open up to him and not holding any punches? But what if she bottled so many things inside he wasn't aware of until now? What if she hates him for being a bad friend? Does Sarada really think her personal feelings won't matter to him, or anyone else?
His heart ached.
"I was taught by you to be honest with how I really feel and to act based on those emotions. Stop lying to myself I don't feel them. Being straightforward is something I admire about you." Her smile was like a wave that washed away all of his worries.
"Hey, Sarada?" Boruto longed to say these words to her for a long time. His cheeks heated up, hearing she admired him for being reckless. Gathering the courage to say something so cheesy wasn't like him at all!
"Yes?"
"Can we stand next to each other a little longer? I am glad out of all the people I've met you're my friend." Just a little while longer he wanted to savour the moment, where the feeling of peacefulness, remained in his heart.
"Sure, I am glad out of all the people I've met you ended up as my friend too."
Sarada's answer filled him with an unknown source of happiness. He didn't mind they will probably get a solid scolding from everything they did today from their parents.   He wanted to stay here with her just a little longer, since having her by his side felt like he could face anything he worried about head-on.  That feeling of blissfulness was the reason he realised he wanted to protect her.
This realisation made that peaceful moment more special to him. God, he really was an idiot. But that's a secret he doesn't plan to tell anyone anytime soon.

[ 365 Days of SasuHina || Day Three Hundred Forty: Moving Out ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata, Hyūga Hiashi, Hyūga Hanako ] [ SasuHina, pregnancy, death, blood, gore ] [ Verse: Best Years of Your Life ] [ AO3 Link ]
It all happens so suddenly.
Hanako’s second pregnancy hadn’t been without its share of worries. The Hyūga woman seemed to get a little weaker day by day, Hiashi hovering in worry despite her assurances she was fine, just...tired. Her morning sickness was powerful, her aches and pains keeping her in bed more often than not. But if Hanako was anything...it was set in bringing her second daughter into the world. So she endured, her patience never failing as she faced the dawn of every day determined to see its sunset...and do it all over again for as many months as it took.
And then, in late March...Hanabi was born.
Hanako survived, much to the nurses’ surprise. Weary and worn, she’d held the newborn with a sense of pride and relief. “You’ve given me quite a run of it,” she had murmured, Hiashi watching silently. “I’ll be glad to sleep without you kicking me from the inside...now to just handle all your fussing and crying for a while, hm?”
...but she would not get that chance.
Three days after returning home, after a particularly twisting roll over in bed...Hanako inadvertently caused her own demise. Tears from the strain of birth subtly reopened, blood loss unnoticed in her heavy sleep, exhausted from the past nine months. And the heavy drowsiness of an emptying circulatory system only ensured she wouldn’t wake.
Come morning...Hiashi work to a fussy Hanabi, and a dead wife.
Hemorrhage.
The shock and horror was almost too much. Calling emergency services in vain, he was told she had been gone for at least two hours by the time he noticed. There was nothing they could do. Nothing he could have done. Her body was simply too fragile, too weakened.
And now, it was lifeless...the only proof of it left in two little girls.
Hinata, only five at the time, barely understood. The ambulance and EMTs had frightened her, retreating to her room as a heavy, blanket-like atmosphere settled over the house.
Her questions about where her mother was were answered with an outburst of emotion from her father: something she could never recall seeing before.
...it scared her even further.
Hiashi slept in the guest bedroom as arrangements were made for his wife’s funeral, all while juggling a newborn and a preschooler. His brother’s widow offered her help, coming to stay for a few weeks with her son, Neji.
Hinata still didn’t fully comprehend. Everyone kept telling her her mother was gone, but...gone where? When was she coming back? Why had she gone, with the new baby only just arrived?
Didn’t she want them?
“But...what does it mean, she w-won’t come back? Why not?”
“It means she’s dead,” Neji replied quietly. Not cruelly, but simply as a matter of facts. He, after all, had been forced to come to terms with the idea even younger than Hinata had when his father died. “She’s asleep forever, Hinata. You won’t see her or talk to her anymore.”
Dark brows wilted, tears burning in her eyes. “But...w-why?”
“I don’t know...but when they were taking out the bed from your parents’ room, I saw a lot of blood.”
“B...blood…?”
“They said it was from the baby. Babies make you bleed when they come out. Your mama just...didn’t stop bleeding.”
...it hadn’t made any sense. Her mother had been fine! She’d come back from the hospital, and there wasn’t any blood...three days had gone by, and nothing!
Then why…?
People kept coming by their house. All of them were sad, with those eyes that said more than words ever could. Hanako had been beloved in their community: an active member of the garden club, among the other parents of the preschoolers, and just being friendly and welcoming to everyone she met. A bright light had been lost, people kept saying. Now things would be darker without her there.
Almost a month passed...and then Hiashi made a decision. He just couldn’t stand it anymore. Being in that house, seeing those people...all they were were constant reminders of her, of his loss, his broken heart.
...so, he found a house in another city two hours away. Not too far as to be cut off from his sister-in-law should they need one another, but enough for a new start. A blank slate. Something to let him begin to recover from the loss of his beloved Hanako.
...but not everyone is so ready to leave.
“Hinata...I must speak with you.”
Looking up from her small gathering of toys on her bedroom floor, the girl meets her father’s eyes. They’ve been dark and sunken as of late, and today is no different. And yet...theres something different about his gaze...she just can’t quite put her finger on it. “...y-yes?”
He sits on her bed, patting the mattress beside her. “...how are you feeling?”
“...sad…”
“You miss Mama, don’t you?”
A small, somber nod is all she can manage.
“...me too. Every moment of every day. Which is why...I think we need a change.”
“C...change?”
“Yes, Hinata. I want to move to a new house.”
“...huh…?”
“This house, it’s…” He pauses with a sigh. “...it’s full of memories of your mother. And those memories - as much as I love them - are making me sad. It’s hard to move forward when we’re stuck here, in a place that’s tied to the past. Does that make sense?”
“I...don’t know…”
“...I think it would be good for us. We can meet new people, make new friends...and have a new house to make new memories in.”
“You want to forget Mama…?”
“Hinata, no...that’s not what I -”
“I don’t w-wanna forget Mama! We can’t leave...this is our home! This is where she was, where she was alive!”
“Hinata, listen to me!” Carefully, he takes her shoulders, trying to stop her temperamental flailing. “We won’t forget Mama. We can never forget. But if we stay here...then we can never heal. Our hearts will always be sad. Sometimes...you need to take time away from what makes you sad. Mama will always be with us, no matter where we go. That I can promise you.”
Looking to him teary-eyed, Hinata isn’t convinced. “W...what about my friends…?”
“...we’ll have a day where they can all come over and say goodbye before we leave. And maybe if their parents say it’s okay, you can call them on the phone sometimes, and come visit. Or they can come visit us. Will that be all right?”
She can’t find an answer.
“...I’ll talk to all the parents. I think most of them knew this would happen. So they’ll be ready. That way you can say goodbye, okay?”
...no reply.
Sighing, Hiashi goes quiet for a time. Without a word, he gets up and takes his leave.
Hinata just...sits before rolling over and staring at the wall.
With the money to spare and not wanting to wait, Hiashi hires a moving team to pack up the house. Hinata watches sadly as so many pieces of their lives - most untouched since she can remember - are wrapped in paper and put into boxes. Hiashi tells her that much of it will be donated, or put into storage. Where they’re going, the house will be a little smaller, but in a better neighborhood with a big yard and a smaller school.
By now, she doesn’t have the words to argue.
Two days before the final push, Hiashi arranges for her class to meet in the park just down the road. It’s well into Spring now, and the grass is green, even if the days are still rather cool. The other children all gather around as Hiashi explains.
“Hinata, Hanabi, and I are going to be moving to a new city, soon. We wanted a chance to say goodbye to you all...and thank you for all of your help.” Even now, his tone is a bit stiff - Hinata knows that means he feels awkward...and is trying to remain professional, even as the subject grows heavy.
“...I know that many of you treasured Hanako as we did. Her absence is felt by many...but so too is her presence. It lingers, and seems to drain us. We hope that a new start will let us adjust to life without her, without her memory hanging so heavily over our shoulders. You are all, of course, welcome to stay in touch. Especially the children - I know Hinata will miss many of you, and I thank you for being such good friends to her. Take today to have fun, and tell each other what you mean to one another. We’ll take those tidings with us when we go.”
Given how young they are all, many of the children seem a bit unsure what all the fuss is really about - mortality isn’t yet a reality for some.
Were she a little older, Hinata might find herself a bit jealous of that.
“How come you gotta go away?” one boy, Kiba, asks in despair.
“Papa wants to go.”
“Can’t you stay?” Sakura asks, looking unsure.
“No...I w-wish I could. But Papa says we might come s-see you guys. But not for a while. I can call you on the p-phone.”
“I’ve never used the phone,” Chōji muses.
“M-me neither. But...m-maybe it will work.”
Everyone murmurs in discussion, but one boy seems to linger back from the group. Hinata knows him: Sasuke. He’s quite popular despite being so shy. They actually get along rather well, given their similarities.
“...I’ll miss you,” he offers quietly.
“Yeah…m-me too. I’ll call you on the phone, okay?”
“Okay...mister Roary will really miss Luna, too.”
Hinata jolts a bit at that. Luna is her little bunny plush, which she often brings to school with her. She’s good friends with Sasuke’s dinosaur plush, Roary. “M...maybe I’ll bring her to visit!”
“Yeah? Promise?”
“I promise.”
As the afternoon fades, Hiashi begins saying goodbyes to the adults, Hinata doing the same with her classmates. All of them give her hugs, wishing her well.
“Be careful, okay?”
Hinata nods as Sasuke takes his turn - the last of them - to embrace her. “I-I will…”
“I hope you like your new house, and your new school.”
“Yeah, me too. I’ll m-miss everyone.”
“We’ll miss you too. But we’ll see each other again! Okay?”
“...okay.”
                                                     .oOo.
I am...VERY tired, so this probably isn't my best work - I feel like the end is rushed cuz I was running out of steam @~@ And it doesn't help that angst tends to be very...slow work for me, aha~      Idk this is just...what my brain gave me. I've never gone into too much detail about Hanako's (Hinata's mother) death. But this is what I HC to have happened in pretty much every verse: her body is just too fragile and worn out, and a while after Hanabi is born, she has internal bleeding that kills her.      I didn't mean for this to be TOO graphic, and I hope it's not horrible. I often have trouble writing gore, so...I tried to tread a little lightly but also still make it impactful. Idk if I succeeded.      But for now I REALLY need to sleep, so...that's all for now. Thanks for reading~

Note
so whats your take on the catra/adora situation
I have a lot of thoughts about this and I’m gonna just unload them all below the cut bc this is gonna get kind of meta-y and pretty discourse-y, and I know a lot of people are trying to avoid that right now. The long n short of it is that I still like the ship.
I’m actually a little baffled by how much people don’t like this pairing now. It all basically comes down to the belief that Catra is abusive towards Adora, but people seem to be conveniently leaving out that Catra has been abused by the Horde as much as Adora. I’d actually argue that Catra’s abuse was harsher, while Adora was the favored child. That’s not to say that Adora wasn’t abused, because she obviously was, but there are different kinds of abusive situations, and in homes with multiple children, there’s often one that the parent/guardian clearly favors and manipulates and the other that gets the brunt of the abuse. Adora was manipulated and lied to and who knows what else, while Catra was physically threatened and harmed, emotionally abused, and pitted against Adora, her own best friend. They have different experiences, and Catra’s experiences have clearly led to the survival instincts she has now. I’ll also point out that members of the crew have stated that Catra’s portrayal is influenced by their own experiences with abuse (source). So flatout saying Catra is abusive and Adora needs to cut ties and leave her rubs me the wrong way. I think Catra is on course for a big redemption arc, because I think people who have been in abusive situations themselves want to tell stories of abuse victims overcoming it.
So that’s sort of the basics of Catra and Adora’s abuse by the Horde, and people have ended up saying, well Adora got out, why can’t Catra? First I’d like to point out the irony of the fandom pitting Catra and Adora against each other in the same way Shadow Weaver did, holding Catra to Adora’s standard. But what makes Adora and Catra different here? There could be a lot of things, you could get into discussions about nature vs nurture, you could argue that Adora has an inherent goodness because she was destined to be She-ra or whatever. But in the end I think it comes down to the different ways they experienced abuse in the Horde. Adora got to switch to the side of good because she thought she was on the good side all along, that’s what the Horde convinced her of, and she didn’t know anything outside of what the Horde told her. Then she also had Shadow Weaver favoring her, and the respect of her superiors and peers, so her life in the Horde was, comparatively, not that bad. But Catra knew it was bad. I’ve seen people calling Catra evil based on her duh, you just figured that out? line. But doesn’t it make sense that Catra knew she was being abused, because she was being treated so much harsher than Adora was? It was in her face all the time, but like Adora, she didn’t know anything beyond the Horde. Abuse was her norm, and she developed certain survival instincts because of that.
But Adora offered Catra a way out right? And Catra knowingly refused, so Catra is evil, right?? This is where I think Catra’s character gets extra complex, because it starts delving into the psychology of abuse victims, and one of the things that’s pretty well known is that abuse victims will often refuse to leave their situation, even when given the chance. That’s what abusers do, they make their victims afraid to leave the stability of their situation, no matter how awful it is. The devil you know, yanno? Adora wasn’t exactly offering Catra safety, she was offering her the chance to join a weak rebellion against the group that was conquering the world, a rebellion which massively failed the last time it was attempted. And leaving the Horde, and then losing? That would make Catra’s situation so much worse.
There’s a lot you can get into with Catra’s motivations throughout the season, but I’ll leave the deep details to Catra-specific character metas. I sussed out 3 big motivations for her from my 1 viewing at the asscrack of dawn.
1. She’s being forced to act against Adora by Shadow Weaver, the woman who has directly abused her her whole life
2. She wants to take down Shadow Weaver as a form of revenge and surpass her in the process
3. She want to prove to everyone in the Horde that she’s powerful and capable without Adora around (reminder that Adora said displays of weakness were a no-no at the Horde, so it stands to reason that being the best and most powerful is a goal ingrained into them as cadets) because Catra has been pitted against and compared to Adora her whole life (this ties in to Catra’s sidekick remark).
None of this excuses her actions, but it does explain her backstory and allows the viewer to get inside Catra’s head and understand why she does the things she does. It deliberately paints her as a sympathetic villain, because you understand her, and it makes you want to root for her.
Catra being sympathetic is a big thing to me, because it’s done on purpose. They’ve planted the seeds for a big redemption arc, one that may run the course of the show, and that’s something I want to see happen. A well done redemption arc is incredible to watch play out. And I’ll remind everyone that the crew has pretty openly loved Catra as a character, and they’re very invested in her as a character, and I personally don’t see how a crew with abuse victims on their staff would create an abusive character and then care about her so much. That goes double for catradora, they’re all interested in them as a duo and post art and content that toes very closely to the line of ship art, and I can’t see abuse victims creating a show just to ship a character with her abuser.
When it comes to Catra and catradora, there’s a few big important things I think people are ignoring.
- Catra has all the groundwork for a bigass redemption arc. It’s something fans have been expecting and hoping for since the first info about the show was released
- In order to get a redemption arc, she needs to do something that needs redeeming. Think of season 1 as Catra’s villain origin story. A redemption arc has no payoff if we don’t see their misdeeds. But Catra’s misdeeds aren’t a case of Cool motive, still murder, because nothing she’s done so far has such long lasting effects. She attacked some people with the Horde, of course, but also keep in mind that this is a kids show, where things like that have to be exaggerated so kids can see that they’re doing Bad Things (remember that time Zuko burned down a whole village, kidnapped Aang, attacked them all multiple times? And he has THE redemption arc every other one is compared to)
- This is only the first season! There’s so much story left to tell, maybe more backstory for Catra, more flashbacks detailing her experiences, etc etc. There’s something like 39 episodes still guaranteed to come, and I’m not expecting season 4 Catra to be the same as season 1 Catra. She’s going to change, her relationship to Adora is going to change, and I want that change to be positive. That’s a big draw for catradora: positive character development
- The crew has stated multiple times that Catra and Adora’s friendship/relationship is very central to the story, and that definitely shows in s1. Telling people not to like this ship is telling them to not fully engage with one of the show’s main foci (and there are definitely positive moments within all the hurt we see. They love each other, in an environment that doesn’t want them to)
- I haven’t seen a single person say that Catra and Adora’s relationship as is would be healthy and perfect. Everyone knows they have stuff to work through. What I have seen is people caring about both of them as characters and friends, people who love each other and deserve to be happy. People WANT a redemption arc for Catra, and they’re shipping Redeemed!Catra/Adora. They’re looking ahead down the path of character development and hoping it leads to romance, because it very well could. One of the big reasons people latch on to ships like this is that it has so so much room for growth and development, for them as individuals, and them as a pair. I know it’s illegal to talk about vo/tron, but you can compare it to people who shipped k/ance and a//urance after season 1. Neither had healthy romantic dynamics in the first season, but people were looking forward to growth and development, and shipping that. The whole point is that you want to see characters grow together. Development is half the point of storytelling. Romantic ships where they basically start out all happy and good are dull because they don’t have the same space for character growth and development. They’re static, they’re boring.
- The crew of the show likes catradora! They care so much about these two characters and their bond, and I don’t see a crew of LGBT people making a romantically coded dynamic between 2 female characters, hyping it up, creating content of the two of them, just to have one be an evil abuser
This is also where I’ll point out that many other antagonistic characters have been much beloved by the fandom and part of majorly popular ships
- Zuko: Zutara & Zukka
- Bakugo: Kiribaku
- Sasuke: Sasunaru or w/e it is
And you’ll notice these are moooostly m/m ships, and people still stan them to this day. But catradora of course is f/f, and we know f/f ships are subjected to much higher criticism than m/m pairings. In fact, the defense for Zuko and Bakugo is their traumatic abuse backstory, so the same should apply for Catra.
I’m also going to say, at great risk to myself, that I think the discourse around this ship is mostly happening because the current She-ra fandom is largely made of of (ex) v/d fans, where discourse was basically a hobby. And for good reason, there was a lot of dumpster fires in that fandom and show, but I think it’s resulted in people coming into this fandom just chomping at the bit to jump on some discourse and be the most Unproblematic and Self-Righteous. Am I basically vaguing myself by saying that? Yeah, kinda, but I’ll have to stand by it. We’ve seen so little of this show and people are already making major decisions about what’s ok and what’s not because they’re coming off of a fandom with a pretty shitty crew, and they’re expected to be hurt again. But the She-ra crew isn’t the v/d crew, and they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
This got really rambly and stuff but the point is, I like catradora. I want to see them grow and heal and love each other, because I care about both characters. It isn’t about shipping an angsty abusive ship, it’s about wanting them to find each other again without the toxic influence of the Horde.
