Dad Emmett Headcanons
Because if anyone in Twilight was going to have a baby, it should have been Rosalie and Emmett.
Emmett and Rosalie adopt a little girl and name her Lucille Vera Cullen, after Emmett's favorite little sister and Rosalie's best friend. Emmett immediately insists that he's going to call her Lucy, the same nickname he used for his sister. She has blonde hair like Rosalie and blue eyes that are strikingly similar to Emmett's as a human.
When Emmett holds Lucy for the first time, he isn't totally sure what to do. He kind of holds her away from his body, looking at her with confusion and glancing at Rosalie with a look in his eyes that's clearly pleading for help.
But after he watches Rosalie with her for a while, talking to her and cuddling with her, he completely melts. He comes as close as a vampire can to crying, full of joy at the sight of his wife and daughter together, and he knows instantly that his universe now has two centers.
Emmett sings Lucy to sleep almost every single night, and sometimes he'll stay in her room the whole night long, just watching her. He doesn't want to miss a single second with her.
He reads stories to her most days, and he uses different voices for all the characters. Some of them are sillier than others, just to make her giggle.
When Lucy is three, she starts taking dance lessons, and Rosalie and Alice are thrilled. Emmett is more than happy to let her teach him everything she learned when she gets home from class. He absolutely wears a tutu while she's teaching.
Tea parties. So many tea parties. Big huge Emmett sits across from Lucy at a tiny table, surrounded by dolls and stuffed animals. He happily drinks the juice she pours from her little teapot and eats the tiny triangular sandwiches that Mommy made for her - not even making a face at the taste.
On her first day of kindergarten, Emmett gets choked up when he drops her off at her classroom, genuinely heartbroken that he won't get to spend every minute of every day with his little girl. But Lucy is headstrong like her parents, so she gives her dad a big hug and a "See you later, Daddy!" and marches right into her classroom. Emmett couldn't be prouder.
Emmett picks Lucy up from school every single day, right on time, surprisingly. On the way home, she tells him about her day, and he listens intently, hanging on her every word. He's not just humoring her, either - he wants to know about every little moment.
The two of them have a secret handshake. It’s not really a secret at all; every person in the house has seen it enough times to know it by heart. But Emmett still looks around dramatically to make sure no one is looking before they do it together. Lucy smiles a mile wide every time.
The family manages to keep Lucy believing in Santa for years. Mostly because Emmett dresses up in a full red suit and beard and delivers her presents every single Christmas, and Rosalie might be making sure that Lucy always catches a glimpse from the top of the staircase.
