Coffee Conundrum
Tumblr media
authors note : I'm gonna make more of these for the rest of the boys when I get the motivation to lol. enjoy!
prompt : After the events of the movie, mutants are much more accepted by the people of NY. So much so that mutants and humans can (mostly) peacefully inhabit each other's worlds. One of those humans works at a coffee shop in the Hidden City that a certain purple turtle constantly orders from. But there is just something about the way this human barista makes his order that keeps him coming back for more.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*sigh*. Donnie pinches his brow as he walks into the dimly lit cafe. It was early, too early. 4 am to be exact. His brothers decided it would be a wonderful idea for an all night, now all morning, skateboard tournament. It was very unfortunate that this tournament had to land on a day that Donnie planned to do some serious calculations for a project he was working on. Too bad the noise from brothers not only kept him from focusing but also kept him up all night. The smell of freshly brewed coffee hit his nose. A nice black coffee is exactly what he needed. Maybe a certain barista was working this early as well.
Donnie has been coming to this cafe for quite some time. Basically the moment it opened. He was looking for a new place since his old usual was unfortunately destroyed by the Krang. You were the first hire for the cafe. Honestly just  looking for a good excuse to see the Hidden City. Being able to work in it was perfect! When Donnie came to the cafe for the first time it was very dull and slow, not many people had been there and honestly he liked it. He liked the quietness of the undiscovered cafe and the coffee was pretty fantastic. He wasn't sure how you always made the coffee so good. Maybe it was the blend or even the machine, but whenever a different barista made his order it just wasn't the same. It was just black coffee! What could you be doing that made his order so great?
“Morning magenta.” You greet him, leaning over the counter. You had just started the first pot of coffee.
“Haha. Hilarious.” He groans, “I’ll have you know its royal purple… and I’d like my usual.”
You smile, looking over his face before beginning his order. “Sure thing. You do look more tired than usual, which is pretty impressive.”
He snorts. “My less then intelligent brothers decided to keep me awake with their skateboarding antics.” He rubs the bridge of his nose attempting to pull the sleepiness from his drooping lids. “So now I am here.”
“Well thank you for your patronage, your royal purpleness.” You bow dramatically. He smiles a little at your antics, “Finally someone who understands.”
The cafe fills with the cozy ambience as you brew his order. Donnie looks around the shop while he waits. Everything seems the same. The same mismatched tables and chairs, the large worn reclining chair next to the book shelf, the freshly vacuumed rugs. All was how he remembered it, except for a curtain that covered an area diagonal to the counter.
Curiosity made him itch. With a quick glance behind the counter, your back was turned waiting for an espresso shot to finish, he stealthy made his way over to the curtain. Grabbing the thin material, he prepared to rip it away when suddenly,
“That’s a work in progress.”
“AH.” Donnie jumped back flailing his arms, landing in a sloppy ninja pose.
You were standing right next to him holding his coffee in a purple ceramic mug. He quickly composed himself, returning to a normal stance. “*cough* Well, hm. Uh... is that my coffee?”
You handed the warm mug to him and stood there looking at him expectedly.
He cocked a brow and looked at you confused, taking a sip of his coffee. It was just as good as he remembered. Closing his eyes he sighed in content. Letting the warm coffee melt the tension in his shoulders.
You nodded, happy with his reaction and walked closer to the curtain.
He blinked more confused now. “What?”
“Oh nothing. Here let me show you our work in progress.” You grabbed the end of the curtain and walked to slide it completely open. Revealing a glass room. It had no door and kinda just sat on the side of building jutting out like a glass cabana. There were four large bean bags of all different colors in a circle facing a small coffee table in the middle. In the corners were two heat lambs facing inward.
“We wanted to make an area from some of the more cold blooded mutants that come by since the cafe can get a little cold sometimes.” You elbowed him gently. “Do you like it?”
Donnie could see it already, sitting in the plush bean bags while sipping on his coffee, maybe with his headphones on or even with his laptop doing some work.
“This... is... perfect!” He beamed at you. “Is there any way I can use it now?”
“Hmm.” You thought about it for a moment, It could be good to have someone test it. “Sure, butttt I will be coming in and out to drop some stuff off... oh! and you need to leave the curtain open so other customers can see.”
“Deal.”
-----
It had been about two or three before customers started coming through. In that time Donnie had managed to get a lot of the work that he wanted to get done, done. Not only that but he was absolutely loving the glass room warmed by the heat lambs. He was even able to nap for a bit! The atmosphere was perfect for him to work and enjoy the solitude before he had to go back to his brothers. Hopefully their excursions would have tired them out for the day and he could go home to a sleeping household. When he woke, the cafe was a little busier but not too much. It looked like it had just come down from its usual morning business. How long was he asleep?
He groaned, lifting his back from his sloughed position on the beanbag. He looked over to the counter and his eyes were immediately drawn to you. You were talking to one of your coworkers while you plated a pasty order. Donnie grabbed his empty mug from the coffee table just as you dinged the bell on the counter and called out the order’s name. As he walked up to the counter he overheard the compliment the mutant gave to you when they grabbed their order.
“Thank you, we always love your sweet unique touches to the orders. I’m not sure how you knew that my son would have liked the strawberry cake more than the peach danish but I thank you! This cake always makes him so happy!” The mutant smiled and gestured to her son at a small table behind her. “Your intuition with the customers is very good.” You both share a laugh and you thank her as she walks back to her son who cheers when he sees the cake. Your coworker turns to you and makes a teasing smile. “Yeah your customer intuition, you little psychic.” You scowl at them in a friendly manner. “Maybe I’m just good at my job... unlike you.” “Hey!” Both of you laugh with each other as Donnie walks up. He starts to open his mouth to speak when,
“Lemme guess. You want Y/N to make your coffee right?” Your coworker turns to him, “they’re your personal barista huh?”
“Piss off Laney, he's just got good taste is all.” You say swatting playfully at them. “What can I do for you Donnie.” You ask, while you lean your crossed arms on the counter.
“He is correct. Indeed I do wish for you to brew my beverage.” He says looking down at you. “Also the new space you have created is very pleasant. I’m sure many of your patrons would enjoy it.”
You gave him a teasing smile, “I didn't need you to tell me you liked it. I could tell by the fact that you passed out in one of the beanbags.”
He stiffened up at your comment, embarrassed. “Yes well... ahem... it was as advertised. Cozy and quiet.”
Your smile grows, happy you can get such reactions out of the genius Othello Von Ryan. “Lemme get that coffee going for ya.”
Walking over to the coffee station you begin your usual process for his order. He follows you over to the station on the opposite side of the counter. Donnie thinks to himself, customer intuition, huh?
“Hey, by the way, how do you make my coffee?”
You peer up at him, looking very seriously. “You’re asking for the secret? Do you think you can handle the responsibility of such information?” You question him.
He nods his face turning serious too, suddenly very intrigued by the answer. “I’m an archive of secrets.”
“Well...... the secret is... love.” You bat your eyelashes at him sarcastically.
His face falls from intrigue to annoyance. You burst out laughing. “I really got you good Von Ryan! Ha!” You clutch the edge of the counter and wipe a tear from your eye as you start an espresso shot.
“You are just as insufferable as my brother Leo.” He sighs.
“He sounds like a blast then.” You smirk at him while he stares at you with an annoyed grimace.
“OK ok. I’ll tell you, for real this time.” Donnie perks up again, his intrigue returning. You return to your work while you explain your process. “Well I know you are high maintenance” you joke, “so I dont give you the coffee from the pot, rather I make a cup of drip coffee so it’s fresh.”
Donnie rolls his eyes at your comment. “I’m not high maintenance, I just like quality.”
You return to your work, ignoring him, and gesture to a jar with some bright green leaves in it. “These are mint leaves, before I pour the drip coffee, I take a tea steep and put a few of the leafs inside of it. Then when the coffee is finished I’ll pour the coffee in and steep the leafs in the coffee.”
“Mint leafs?” Donnie questions. “I never would have guessed, why mint leaves?”
“Mint leaves add a freshness to the coffee, making the taste a little brighter. It’s also great for helping clear the mind. Supposedly.” Donnie hums and watches as you steep the mint leaves in the coffee. “Now there is a final touch that I like to add, its something i do with my own coffee.” You reach under the counter and grab a small jar.
“What’s that?”
“Salt.” You say flatly.
“Salt!?” Donnie gasps. “You put salt in your coffee??”
“Yes, and in your coffee too!” You say defensively. “It’s good! A pinch of salt will take away the bitter aftertaste of the coffee.” Donnie grimaces a little. “Well you seem to like it. You seem to like it a lot!”
You sprinkle a pinch of salt into the coffee and remove the steep. You pour the concoction into a purple mug that you grab from the shelf behind you. Donnie watches you as you clean the coffee runs on the side of the mug and place a mint leaf floating on top. You place the mug on the counter in front of him. You look deeply into his eyes again. “Now you know my terrible secret, you must promise to never tell a soul for they will judge you. Harshly.”
Donnie cracks a smile at your antics. He picks up the mug and takes an apprehensive sip. He sighs dreamily. It’s the same cup you always made for him. “I will admit, you do brew a good cup of joe.”
You bow. “My humble craft.”
He stares into the liquid, now that his coffee conundrum was answered he realized he still had one more question to ask. “Why do you make it like this? Why when I asked the first time I came here for a black coffee did you make this salty mint concoction?” He questioned, clutching the mug.
You paused, your usually playful demeanor being replaced by a new one. One a little sheepish? “Well, the first time you came you seemed exhausted, like you really needed a pick me up.” you looked away and rubbed the back of your neck. “My mom would make this for me whenever I needed one and it always seemed to lift my spirits. I just wanted to... to lift your spirits too.” There was a long pause. Donnie smiled at your confession, you avoided eye contact. “Plus you're one of our best customers. At the time of our opening I think all of New York needed a pick me up because of the Krang. You were one of the first people to visit us and the pointers you gave us about popular improvements and the analytical business practice really helped us out. Now look at this place! We have more customers than ever and I can make weird coffee for the Hidden City.”
He’s not sure if it’s the coffee that was warming his face or something else as he listens to your confessions. The comments he made were just offhanded, he hadn't actually meant to make a difference, he was just doing his usual Donnie thing. His brothers hated when he did that, they never listened. But you did... you listened to his analytical rambling. You actually took his advice and it helped! He was stunned, flattered even.
You spoke more about how his frequent visits and helpful comments actually grew business for the cafe. And with each specific comment you referenced the more the blush on his face grew.
The ring of the front door dragged away both of your attentions.
“I should.. I should go now. Gotta do my job haha...” you laughed awkwardly after realizing you talked his ear off about how great he was. “You can have that coffee on the house by the way. It’s the least we can do.”
He snapped his attention back to you again, attempting to recover from his flusteredness. “Oh.. ha, thanks.”
“I’ll see you later then, Von Ryan.” You smile and wink at him.
“F-for sure.”
Donnie headed to the door and looked over his shoulder at you just before leaving. You gave him a bright smile and waved. He waved back.
Maybe it wasn't just the coffee that was warming his heart.

Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus. You all know this story, of how one man’s madness cost him his whole family and disrupted the nature of life with his creation. Yet as many told the shocking tale and many feared the monster, there was one that was not like the original tale. It tells of how a young man goes through loss, how a father would go far to bring his daughter back, how some people aren’t what they claim to be and how a monster becomes Prometheus's Angel.
Hello my little darlings! Sorry I’ve been away for a month, was fighting an art block and October is the best month for spooky ideas.
In a steampunk 1890s of Frankenstein, tells of two lives. The middle child of a family that wants to create life changing inventions, and the daughter of a scientist that was killed but brought back to life by her father. Both come together as the family hide the creature from the law and learn the value of life.

Fibonacci reference!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meet my (older) Rise Donnie’s fankid, Fibonacci!
Infodump below cut 👇
Bo is the son of Donatello and Marcelo (my OC, Donatello’s husband). She’s the eldest of the 2nd generation of turtles, and has 1 younger brother whom I will post if this gets any, and I mean ANY, attention.
His character arcs are as listed below:
Child arc: She is literally too young to have much happen in his life.
Little hybrid arc: After an accident at 8 years old that reveals his powerful abilities, AMMA (agency monitoring mutant ability), a goverment agency meant to be sure mutants and Yokai do not become a threat to them, begins to tighten their grip, and he looses much of her freedom. Whoopsie.
Teen arc: After more laws get put in place for mutant rights, she gets much of his freedom back at around 13 years old. However, he loathes his fathers for not protecting him enough. This leads him to do anything she can to rebel.
Personality wise, Bo is a very sensitive kid. She’s generally kinda cowardly, not really one to fight back. This is, until his rebellious phase, where he develops a low tolerance to any negative treatment. He takes after her turtle papa, a mechanical genius, although he is much less of a perfectionist and has less motivation. He is easily distracted much like his human father, and like both of her dads she is fiercely protective of his family.
This is her good timeline design. As for his bad timeline design, well, I can post it later if anyone wants to see. :)

Thinking about how Splinter made those ninja outfits for the turtles in the season finale and I’m wondering if Future Mikey’s and Leo’s capes were made by Splinter too and that was one of the last things he got to do something for them in that bad future.

BO CHARACTER ANALYSIS.
Bo’s character is like an onion.
There are many layers to him as a person.
Surface level: At a surface level, Bo can be described as aloof, distant, and even boring at times with how bland he can be. Bo doesn't show strong emotions unless they have something to do with someone he cares about. But even then, he only expresses those feelings in an aggressive way.
Bo is the stereotypical bad dude who only shows his emotions when someone hurts whom he deems close.
Bo has a hard time recalling certain events in his life and can't remember much up until he moves in with Repo. Even then, he still struggles time from to time with short-term memory loss. Most likely due to his early-developed coping mechanisms such as maladaptive daydreaming, which will have this effect on people.
Intermediate Level: Bo is described as aloof and distant due to being stuck in his own head a lot of the time. For example, even when he is physically in a room, 9/10 he is in an entirely different setting in his head.
We know he developed his daydreaming tendencies when he was in Draxum’s possession. The only way for him to express his emotions without fear was in his own head. Never giving him a chance to actually act on those feelings in a real-life scenario.
During puberty, Bo was being tested on and trained by Draxum. Often taking harsh punishments if he didn't meet a set requirement in a certain period of time. Since Bo was never tought how to properly express his emotions during puberty, he does so in the only way he was shown during that time.
Through violence.
Draxum was tasked with creating a mutant that would dominate the battlefield. As you can imagine, Bo was exposed to a lot of violent, damaging tendencies during this time.
It only worsened when Bo was in Big Mama’s custody. He was actually playing with his life every time he was put into the ring. Often getting physical wounds that he had hardly encountered while training under Draxum.
Thus making violence the main form of communication for Bo.
As stated previously, Bo had a hard time accounting for memories before he started living with Repo. This is most likely due to two factors. His coping mechanism being escapism and the brain blocking out those memories. The brain will block out traumatic experiences as a kind of self-protection to protect them from the emotional pain said memories may cause.
The reason why Bo’s lapses in memory seem to decrease when he moves in with Repo is because Bo actually becomes much more physically and emotionally stable. He is no longer being tested on, trained, or thrown in a ring to fight for his life.
However, he still struggles because of the work he does for the mantis mutant. He was put up to do Repo work. This would often include being put into possibly violent situations with forceful clients.
During these moments, Bo often resorts to his very well-known way of communication. Brutality. This means that during these moments Bo is most likely not there mentally. Resorting to disassociation for comfort.
The Core of Bo’s Character:
1. Internal Struggles:
Bo’s reliance on violence as a form of communication is a manifestation of his internal turmoil and lack of emotional regulation. This is likely because of the trauma he endured under Draxum and Big Mama’s custody. Bo harbors deep feelings of guilt and shame about his violent tendencies, but due to his coping mechanisms, he finds it difficult to address or even recognize these feelings.
2. Motivations:
Bo’s primary motivation is survival. Growing up in harsh conditions where he was constantly tested and punished, he has learned to prioritize his own safety above all else. This self-preservation instinct drives his actions, even if it means resorting to violence in fear of keeping his place at Repo’s. Bo has a subconscious desire for acceptance and belonging, having never experienced genuine care or nurturing.
3. Relationships:
Bo’s relationships are strained due to his communication barriers and emotional detachment. However, deep down, he craves connection and intimacy. His aggressive outbursts when someone he cares about is threatened are a desperate attempt to protect the few meaningful relationships he has left.
4. Desire for Change:
There is a part of Bo that yearns for change and saving. His move to stay with Repo suggests a subconscious desire for stability and a chance at a better life.
5. Vulnerability:
Underneath his tough exterior, Bo is very vulnerable. His daydreaming and disassociation can be seen as defense mechanisms to shield himself from emotional pain and trauma.

I lost a chunk of my brain doing this dawg… THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR😘
