For ILY, when you mentioned the potential time skips that’ll happen after the flashback and party chapters, I can’t help but wonder what we’ll se a-tip do. Is he just going to spend all night fatigued and burnt out trying to find Nolan? Will the time skips just show him on a repeating routine of his job in Japan (accommodated thanks to yui)? Will yui notice how close shin-ae and Nolan have gotten and try to kill her the same way she certainly did to Nessa? I don’t trust any therapist thrown to Nolan while he’s in jail.
And I have a feeling rand doesn’t know the whole picture of how much q-tip does to express his disdain for Nolan. He really thought the relationship would play out as a simple love-hate dynamic where the colder, older figure warms up the the younger, cheerful little one.
I wonder if one of q-tips breaking points is trying to get rand angry at him by revealing all the ways he treats Nolan like garbage, such as trashing the name rand and nessa meaningfully gave to Nolan. If Nolan just expresses his own, depressingly deflated self hatred to how he wished he raised his boys better, that might be a final nail in the coffin. We already saw how q-tip reacted when rand only expressed concern and comfort for q-tip rather than volcanic anger.
Oh man, this is a really good ask!
I'll be honest - I don't have the strongest grasp on what I think we're going to see from Kousuke in the future, yet. This is partly because despite everything, Kousuke is still rather unpredictable to me, but also because, something I think you're getting at, it kind of depends on what is going on with Kousuke, right?
We're finally getting to see a couple things with this arc.
A. Like you noted, Rand is only starting to really see his sons - not just in the way he wants to see them, but starting to realize the long-term effects he ignored for so long. Nol is far more messed up than Rand ever imagined, and I hope he's beginning to realize the role he played in that, how he left his son alone and isolated, and berated him at every turn. Ironically, I think Rand's intentions were much like Nol's to Shinae - that if he distanced himself, it would protect Nol, and Yui wouldn't mess with him as much. For a while, I think it was true! Nol seemed to be living, more or less, peacefully, coasting by with Nana. He didn't have to help at the family business yet and there probably weren't a lot of family dinners he was required at. I can't remember if this is so, but when Nol saw Yui at the arcade, he looked really surprised, and scared. I have to dig, but maybe Yui hadn't been around much until that point, or at least Nol didn't have to be around the family as much? At any rate, I think from the time of The Incident (aka whatever it is that happened between Kousuke and Nol that got Nol institutionalized) after Nol started to live with Nana until Shinae entered the picture, I think Nol WAS pretty "safe" and I'm sure Rand thought that keeping him at arm's length was doing it. But Yui clearly isn't content to let Nol be content, is she? The Kim formal kicked off the Chess Theory, and it can be presumed that from this night forward, Rand and Yui are playing for different teams, with Rand aware that Nol is in danger. Despite that, he had no idea how bad a state Nol was in. I'm guessing this whole time he's been blinded by the lies he's been telling himself - that all of this is for the best, that he's doing all he is able to for Nol - and when he learns of Nol's pool jump incident, he's finally being forced to reckon the truth: that he did not do everything he could to protect Nol.
B. To that same vein, yes, he's finally seeing that there is no room for a peaceful resolve between Kousuke and Nol on his own. I agree that he always thought in time Kousuke and Nol would be able to become brothers, that love would grow between them, and that the animosity would go away, but in the same way he was willfully ignorant of how bad a situation Nol was in, he was blinded to Kousuke's true feelings. I think he's always sensed that Yui was poisoning Kousuke's mind and tried to counterbalance it, but it never worked. I guess that's probably part of why he had Kousuke watch over Nol - hoping some affection would develop, never realizing the impact it had on Kousuke, never realizing what Nol represented to him. Idk, I REALLY love that episode a LOT - it confirmed so much of what I thought about Kousuke. It's not explicit, but Kousuke definitely thinks that Rand cares more about Nol, and that he, Kousuke, has to earn Rand's favor and affection by doing what he asks but also by playing nice with Nol, and I think Rand can finally see that, too. In his mind, he's only ever wanted Kousuke to be happy - he was not the one who placed so much pressure on his shoulders to be successful or follow in his footsteps, to become a workaholic with no life outside of his career.
C. Kousuke is definitely moving closer to a breaking point, but as always, I cannot predict what it will be, or when. I've had so, so many thoughts on this! Sometimes I think he's going to find himself overwhelmed with his job and will break, finally realizing that he doesn't actually know if he ever wanted this, find that he's in over his head, he's moved so fast in his career all in effort to impress his father and earn his affection. Sometimes I think his breaking point has to do with Yui and realizing how much of his life was orchestrated, how much she molded him into the person he is. The way she filled Kousuke's head with ideas, like how work is more important to Rand, that love must be earned like a prize, that the only way to reach his father was to emulate him so he could earn his trust. We, as readers, know it's not true, but Kousuke still hasn't figured it out. That's why he's so baffled and freaked out after the phone call. In his mind, disappointing Rand means earning his ire, it means he has failed, it means he has moved backwards. He doesn't realize that everything he's doing means nothing - that what Rand wanted for him wasn't to jump through hoops and grind his way to the top. He doesn't realize that Rand would love him regardless, because of how deeply ingrained it is, and I still think that will play into a breakdown for him one day. How do you deal with that? With realizing that you've spent so much effort, that you've blinded yourself to anything but what you were ingrained with? Yui told Kousuke, essentially, that Rand will not love or trust or respect him until he's earned it, so for Rand to tell him he loves him regardless, when Kousuke feels like he's failed..... how does he compute that?
I had wondered before if Kousuke and Hansuke would wind up at the party, but... I don't think so. The phone call with Rand rattled Kousuke and worked him up too much. He doesn't deal with his emotions well at all - he compartmentalizes them and anything that makes him feel small or vulnerable he tries to shove away, but he can't do that with this one. That's why he reacts so often with anger - irritability when he can't, or won't, let himself feel sadness or despair. He's confused and doesn't feel right, so I'm guessing they may wind up taking a taxi and leave? I imagine if Nol winds up joining the party, Yujing will text Kousuke or Hansuke to let them know, and.... maybe Kousuke would leave it at that? Ordinarily I think he'd go to the party to yank Nol out of there for what he did, but after the call with Rand I think he might not. I could be very wrong lol but I just can't see him joining the party when he feels so many kinds of upset, you know? Still, I think Hansuke will do his best to make him go lol
So as for Kousuke's FUTURE. I guess this is where we get into a couple potentials. Our first, small time jump is supposed to get us a few months ahead, to Shinae's graduation, Nol's release, and potentially Yujing's big story. Kousuke goes to Japan and takes up his new position. How does it go? Does he do well? Is it everything he was hoping it would be? Will he find nepotism once more sneaking in, making it an easier job than he wanted? Will Yujing's prediction come true and he find himself overwhelmed, not yet ready for this role he's moved too quickly into? If he's doing well, then nothing changes - this remains his trajectory. If it's nepotism making his job too easy, relieving him of his responsibility, he may feel agitated. Kousuke likes to feel like he's earned everything, that he's putting in the work, that he's capable of something. Would he be happy in a role where, by virtue of being a Hirahara, he is paid just to... exist? To be a figurehead? I can't imagine so. That could create some kind of fissure cracks for him, make him start wondering if this is what he truly wants. If he's not performing well, if he indeed has moved too fast, isn't yet ready, buckles under the immense responsibility and additional stress it brings to his, frankly, already overwhelming and stressful state lol, he's going to break. Image is vital to Kousuke, and if he's not doing well, he's going to believe it means everyone will know he's not ready maybe believe everyone is talking about him, and he'll return to that period of extreme stress and paranoia, until he snaps and breaks again, and then everything is all up in the air from that point lol.
That SAID, I think Yujing's story is a potential wrench here that is going to shake things up and set the stage for the rest of our story.
We know that Yujing is going after the Hiraharas and the target is Yui. I don't think Kousuke is so much a target of hers, but I think there's potential for him to be caught in the cross-fires, simply by relation and some of the things Yujing seems to be digging into. She's really digging into things: not just the incident with Nol and Kousuke when they were younger, but she tells Manli that she thinks she'll be satisfied with what she digs up - and we suspect Manli is the friend Yujing has mentioned who also had a daterape incident, which is theorized to be related to Yui. After all, why would Manli be satisfied with what Yujing is working if it wasn't something that might provide her some vindication, or at the very least, the satisfaction of seeing someone who had a role in something awful happening to her called out for her other evils. Yujing had told Manli this story might take several years, but with Nol pleading guilty, they now have 120 days. I'm still not sure why, but at any rate, whatever she's working on is going to land when we have our mini timeskip, and precede the much larger timeskip, hence why I think everything hinges on what Yujing reveals. The way this plot is shaping up, whatever story she is working on will absolutely shape the trajectory and main story of the second half, and obviously, it has to do with Yui.
Now, because we know there will be more story following our timeskip, we know Yujing will not be able to fully take down Yui. Or, rather, if she does manage to make a dent in the Hirahara reputation, it means we will meet an even more menacing Yui in the timeskip, I imagine. So I'm not sure what I think Yujing will manage to dig up, but it's going to be something big that will wind up affecting all of our major players, so I'm not sure where that will leave Kousuke. Will the family reputation be damaged and leave him having to improve it? Will there be a reveal that will finally push him to the breaking point that we've long been anticipating? I know the Yui involved with the Kims theory comes around a lot, and I still don't know if I actually buy into it or just enjoy the drama of it, but can you imagine if Kousuke was to learn that neither of his parents were faithful, that the entire "perfect" premise of his family never existed? GOD that would be so rough for him lol. I mean, obviously I do not know what else is in store for all of the characters at this time, but I can't help but think the period leading up to a big time skip would be one hell of a time to leave Kousuke rethinking his entire life and identity. But, alas, I have a sneaking feeling we will see Kousuke continuing on his current path, and that if he's ever to rethink everything he knows, it's going to happen in the future. Although, now that I've written that, I think something else that needs to be considered is not only what Yujing's story will reveal, but what it might mean for Nol. If it puts Nol in a favorable position, somehow, that would absolutely alter things for Kousuke. Hmmm. I'm so, SO eager to reach the graduation time skip and see EVERYTHING that's in store for us! I know fandom in general was desperately waiting for the balcony scene but I am DYING to see what Yujing is working on. The fact that she's got Meg involved now? I want to see what it is, I want to see how it's going to affect everyone!!!!!
Your question about Kousuke's breaking point is interesting, but I think it might need something else to build up to that to get there? I think he would definitely already have to be in a breaking point to do that, just because we know that pleasing and impressing Rand is so, so very ingrained in him, but yes, definitely if he had snapped and went off on an angry rant as he spiraled? Frankly that sounds.... really sad. Again, I think there would need to be some kind of circumstances for that, and now that Rand is starting to become aware of how he's affected Nol and Kousuke's relationship, how Kousuke really sees Nol, I think he wouldn't try to push that relationship on Kousuke anymore, so there might not be as much room for that kind of breakdown? But then again, I do think if/when Kousuke reaches his breaking point, it's going to be very bad, so maybe there's room for it, yet.
As for Yui taking notice of Nol and Shinae.... idk. I think Yui has some kind of plan for Shinae, though I still have no idea what I think it might be. I just can't get over that episode where Yui was talking about knowing someone who made the wrong choices. A Yui theory I believe in is that she just... hates men because they are afforded all the things she is not, because she has to play a certain role in order to get ahead, because they can hold positions she cannot. She absolutely seems to believe herself above all the men she knows. She also is cunning and manipulative as hell, believing that she knows what's best for everyone. She seems to see something in Shinae that she wants to, idk, mentor or something? Snap the kindness in her and use her strength and resilience to rise to the top? I HONESTLY do not know. But I don't think.... harming her is on the table. Maybe. I'm saying this real loosely lol cos look, Yui is THE character I cannot predict. Kousuke I may struggle with but I have NOTHING for Yui. What does she want? I DON'T KNOW lmao I know everyone believes that Yui's interest in Shinae is related to Nol and Kousuke, but I don't think that's so, and therefore Nol and Shinae's relationship probably wouldn't warrant trying to kill her? lol I think she'd sooner to try to kill Nol than Shinae, frankly.
(Sidebar, but a theory that keeps coming back to haunt me is that Yui had something to do with Shinae's mom, or if Shinhye = Aeri in Alyssa's group, Yui is aware of her sister, or something to do with her family history, but it's all still very vague yet for me, because even if Yui knew Shinae's mom, what could their relationship have been that Yui is interfering in her life? But it would establish more reason for Yui to meddle with Shinae than her involvement with Nol or Kousuke.)
I feel like a lot of this response is SO abstract lol and I apologize for that! There's only so much predicting I can do with what we know yet, and I just feel SO MUCH like Yujing's story is going to throw a big wrench into the plot, and everything we expected and anticipated is going to go out the window lol. There's definitely much to look forward to, yet, and I really, REALLY cannot wait! idk, I'm so excited to see where all the characters are going to be, if Kousuke will be in good standing and we'll have to wait for his breakdown later, or if after the timeskip maybe we could see EVERYONE vs Yui? That would be weirdly satisfying, wouldn't it? Kousuke and Nol begrudgingly working together (LEARNING TO HEAL!!!!!) in order to take down a common "enemy"? Obviously that only works if we see Kousuke finally realize who his mother really is, what she's truly like, and how much he was manipulated when he was a child, but gosh, I can dream can't I? lol Alas, I feel like Kousuke will be one of the last people to leave Yui's side.
#I Love Yoo#ILY Brainrot#ILY#Kousuke Hirahara#Nol#Nolan Oliver T. Lochlainn#Rand#I gotta go through and fix my Rand tag one day ARGH#Yui Hirahara#Shinae Yoo#Kousuke just leaves me with so many questions tbh lmao but I try my best!#I just can't help but think so much hinges on Yujing's story because I think it could very well be the thing to finally shatter Kousuke's#illusion about his mother and family. like we know he is aware of things but just kinda shuts it down and ignores it#i think Yujing's big story will be something so in his face he cannot escape it anymore#or again maybe that's just wishful thinking lol i really want Kousuke to face the reality of what she's like who she hurts and how she gets#what she wants and has. the way it hurt him! the way it CONTINUES to hurt him to this very day!!!!!!#i want him to step away and realize his entire life has been so MESSED UP#i want him to stop trying to control every narrative to prevent his own discomfort. i think some kind of earth shattering revelation is#what he needs to finally stop because at that point what is the truth? he won't know what to believe anymore lol and maybe he can stop#creating his own narratives to fit a narrow view because that view will no longer exist or something to that vein!#funny enough I really really love asks about Kousuke and Alyssa even though I know they're pretty hated characters. i just WANNA SEE THEM#BECOME BETTER VERSIONS OF THEMSELVES#they both have such complex histories and nuances that have turned them into the kinds of people they are relying on defense mechanisms to#get by and try to cope and keep some kind of truth at bay and I WANT TO SEE THEM BREAK THEMSELVES FREE OF THAT#i just love the complex webs of relationships and personalities god#everyone is literally the product of their environments the sum of their experiences and it's so delicious to me

something about how trades really do affect players. how it's not just us as fans being crazy or reading too much into it. it's real and it's painful. erik johnson has lacked the hutzpah he once had ever since leaving colorado, as if he could bear landeskog's injury but the second he was forced to leave it all came crashing down. sidney crosby has lost much of the joy he once carried and it's because he had the human, golden embodiment of that joy in jake guentzel torn away from him when he needed it most. dylan larkin shed genuine, heartfelt, distraught tears when tyler bertuzzi was traded away. the penguins still welcome marc-andre fleury to pittsburgh every time he plays there because, no matter where he is, that is his home. pk subban could never return to the same player he was after he was taken from price. trevor zegras is seemingly incomplete without drysdale at his side. brandon duhaime is lacking his connor dewar. bowen byram no longer has his alex newhook to lean on and laugh with. travis koneckny and nolan patrick may never even get the chance to play another game with or against one another. and who could imagine kuznetsov as anyone but a capital? do you really think of pavelski in the green of the stars or do you see him proud in teal beside thornton and marleau? did shea weber ever really stop being a nashville predator? and what about beauvillier, horvat, compher, dumolin, burakovsky, kadri, yamamoto, hornqvist, eberle, o'rielly, barrie, jost, gaudreau, karlsson, carter and richards, martin, and so many others? even wayne gretzky himself went to three teams post trade, searching for that spark he had in edmonton after they made him leave. jagr had eight after pittsburgh. you are not crazy for grieving, in some small way, a player you lost. and they aren't crazy for feeling distraught either. these teams are family. and family is everything, even if it gets ripped apart so easily.

When your phone rings on the way to work, you don’t expect to see your aunt’s name on the caller ID.
“Hello?” you greet.
“Hey, sweetheart. I was going through the seating chart for your cousin’s wedding and seemed to have misplaced your RSVP,” she explains.
“I, uh, I didn’t get an invite. She’s getting married?”
“Of course. You lot aren’t getting any younger, as I’m sure you know, and when she met her fiancé, well, I think we all knew. Anyway, you say you didn’t get an invite? Must’ve gotten lost in the mail, those incompetent kids aren’t as reliable as they used to be. I suppose that explains your lack of congratulations, though, which I’m sure everyone will be relieved to hear.”
“I bet,” you mumble before asking, “So what do you need from me? Sorry to interrupt, but I’m nearly to work.”
“Oh, yes, I’m sorry, I suppose the wedding planning is making me a touch scatter brained. All I need from you is a confirmation that you are attending. It’s at her fiancé’s family orchard, I’ll send you the address. Everyone is coming out Friday evening and the wedding is Sunday afternoon.”
“Uh, yeah, I have this weekend off. I may be a bit later on Friday, but I’ll be there.”
“And I’ll assume you’re still single, so no plus one. Although, sweetie, you really shouldn’t let this discourage you. I’m sure you have plenty going for you and the right man is out there somewhere,” she says, lowering her voice as pity laces every word.
“Actually, I’ll be bringing my boyfriend. If there’s room for one more, of course.”
The words come out before you can stop them, and after you slam your gear shift up and set your brake, you grip your steering wheel with both hands.
“Boyfriend? Well, good for you, sweetheart, I didn’t want to seem insensitive before, but your clock is ticking! I will put you down for two then. Oh, one more thing-“
“I’m actually at work and can’t be late. I’ll see you Friday,” you rush out before ending the call.
Hitting the back of your head against the headrest, you wonder who you can ask on such short notice. Getting a fake boyfriend is entirely avoidable, of course. You’d have to tell another lie about him being sick or dumping you or call your aunt and explain that her constant jabs at your lacking love life pushed you to speak without thinking.
“That would go well,” you murmur as you gather the strength to get out of your car.
She’d probably say something like, “Well then he just wasn’t the one,” before telling everyone that you did something to get dumped, or she’d remind you that you’re running out of time, it’s practically too late, so you should stop trying. You don’t mind being single, but she rips you apart, finding a way to make it your fault for being too busy with work, unwilling to compromise, or “looking too chubby in red.” (Her words.)
As you walk into the station and change into your uniform, you are struck with the perfect idea.
“Nolan!” you call, rushing to his side before he can enter roll call. “I need a favor.”
“Uh, yeah, I’ll do what I can,” he answers kindly.
“Long story short I need a fake boyfriend to go to my cousin’s wedding or my aunt will expose me as a dirty rotten liar who can’t get a boyfriend.”
“Wow,” Nolan responds. “Does she really- never mind. When’s the wedding?”
“This weekend.”
“Bailey and I are going to San Diego to meet Henry for a few days. I’m so sorry, I’d help you if I could.”
“Yeah, no problem. Thanks anyway,” you tell Nolan while looking for someone else you can ask. “Aaron!”
Aaron turns in the doorway, stepping back toward you and Nolan with raised brows.
“What’s up?” he asks.
“I need a date, a fake boyfriend for a wedding this weekend.”
“I don’t do weddings.”
“Aaron, please,” you plead.
“Look, I’d love to help you, but my family’s got a big dinner thing this weekend and they rarely end well, so I’m booked.” He pats your arm and adds, “Hope you find someone who can help.”
You nod as he walks inside. Looking around the station, you realize your options are very limited.
“Think Angela would let me borrow Wesley for a few days?” you ask Nolan.
“Why don’t you just find someone to actually take as a date?”
“Because that’s the entire problem, Nolan. I can’t get a date.”
“I’m sure you’ll figure something out.”
As you follow him into roll call, you whisper, “I’m going to have to ask Smitty.”
Nolan stifles a laugh, shaking his head as he takes his seat. You tune Wade out after receiving your assignment for the day, glancing around the room as you try to find someone else you can ask. Maybe you should just cancel, tell your aunt that you’re the one who got sick, and now neither you nor your boyfriend can make it.
Standing in the bullpen, you have your aunt’s contact pulled up on your phone but can’t seem to press the call button.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Sergeant Bradford,” Nolan says. “I need some advice.”
“I already don’t like this, but go ahead,” Tim replies, resting his hands against his belt.
“If a fellow officer, a close friend, was going to cancel going to a family member’s wedding because she couldn’t find a fake boyfriend to keep her controlling aunt off her back, would you help her?”
Tim doesn’t answer, turning away from Nolan. As he walks toward the bullpen, Nolan raises a fist in victory, hoping it works out for you and Tim. It’s clear to everyone that you have feelings for each other, but neither of you seems eager to do anything about them. Maybe this is the push you need to take the next step.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim’s hand covers your phone screen before he takes it from you, holding it by his side.
“You need a fake boyfriend?” he asks.
“Who told you? ... Nolan, I should’ve known not to trust him and his big mouth.”
“Who’s getting married?”
“My cousin,” you answer, pursing your lips in confusion about why he’s interested.
“The cousin from the aunt that manipulates and belittles you every time you see her?”
“I’m still sorry for calling you that day, I shouldn’t have. Just didn’t have anyone else to cry to.”
“She lied to you, told you things about yourself that couldn’t have been further from the truth. So, now that you have lied to her, what are you going to do about it?”
“Cancel,” you whisper. “If I can just press the button to call her.”
“I’ll call her,” Tim offers, raising your phone. “Or I can go with you.”
“Tim, I can’t ask you to do this- to lie for me and spend your weekend off at a wedding, around people you don’t know.”
“You’re not asking,” Tim reminds you. “Which one? I make a call, or I go with you.”
“Are you sure?”
“Wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t.” Tim smiles while assuring, “We’re friends, and we’ve been on vacation together before. This is just like that.”
“I don’t want to go…”
“But you don’t want to deal with the grief you’ll get if you don’t. I get it, but I’ll help in any way I can.”
You nod, taking your phone from Tim. “Thank you.”
“When do we leave?”
“Friday night. The wedding’s Sunday.”
“Two days before? Why?”
“I don’t even want to think about that right now.”
Tim raises your right hand, pushing a bent paper clip over your finger as he promises, “I will make sure you survive this weekend.”
“And I… will apologize in advance.”
✯✯✯✯✯
When you get out of the shower Friday night and get dressed, all you can think about is the weekend ahead. If you or Tim get uncomfortable, you could put your relationship on the line to look like a happy couple in front of your family.
Tim’s knock draws you from your thoughts, and when he takes your bag from you, you realize something: Tim already acts like your boyfriend, so he really is boyfriend material. Your crush on him is bound to be affected over the next 48 hours, but he agreed to this, so maybe there’s a chance he feels more than friendship, too. Shaking the idea from your head, you accept Tim’s help as you climb into the passenger seat of his truck. He waits until he’s on the freeway to ask you about the wedding and your family.
“What’s the fiancé like?” he asks.
“I haven’t met him. Didn’t even know they were getting married until a few days ago.”
Tim nods, laying his elbow on the center console and moving closer to you without thinking.
“I- I want to go ahead and tell you that you don’t have to do anything you’re uncomfortable with. My family can be a lot-“
“I’m not here for them. I’m spending the weekend with you, and nothing more. Remember that, okay? So, if you need an excuse, a buffer, anything you want or need, that’s me this weekend.”
“I can never repay you for this.”
“I’ll give you a call next time I need a wedding date,” Tim suggests.
“Deal,” you reply with an easy smile.
✯✯✯✯✯
Someone squeals your name, and Tim grips your hand when you flinch.
“I’m so glad you made it!” the woman says, pulling you into a hug.
“Of course. And congratulations!” you reply. “Sorry about the invitation confusion.”
“Oh, no worries, I get it. Stuff happens. My mom said you were bringing your boyfriend?”
Tim steps forward, wrapping an arm around your waist as he offers his other hand. “I’m Tim, the boyfriend your mom mentioned.”
“Oh,” your cousin says, shaking his hand. She looks between you and Tim, and as you begin to expect a sarcastic comment, she says, “Nice to meet you, Tim.”
“That wasn’t so bad,” Tim whispers in your ear.
“I guess I could’ve been overthinking it,” you admit.
“You’re in chateau Sauvignon Blanc,” a man says, passing a key to Tim. “Follow the white path and you won’t miss it.”
“The chateaus are named after wine,” Tim muses. “Must be nice to be marrying into a family of nepotism.”
You laugh at him, and when he refuses to let you carry your bag to the chateau, you fall into easy conversation on the short walk. Entering, however, you stop in the doorway.
“What’s wrong?” Tim asks quickly, stepping forward so his chest presses against your back.
“Nothing, just- there’s only one bed in here,” you say quietly.
“I think we can make it work. There’s always the floor if you want to treat your fake boyfriend like that,” Tim jokes, closing the door and tossing your bags on a nearby chair.
“I- why’d you agree to come?” you ask him.
“You needed a date.”
You don’t quite accept that. It’s not enough reason for someone as logical as Tim Bradford. You don’t have time to question him further, though, as you receive a text that dinner is being served in the main tasting room in just a few minutes.
“Hey,” Tim says, laying his hands on your shoulders. “We’re two people on vacation together. It doesn’t have to be awkward.”
“Sorry. It’s just, this isn’t what I was expecting.”
“That’s okay, but we’re going to keep moving. No one knows me here, so I’m whatever-“
“I need you to be,” you repeat. “Thank you.”
Tim smiles, and you take your bag into the bathroom to get ready while he changes. When you exit, wearing your favorite outfit and hairstyle, Tim stands, offering both his hands.
“You look stunning.”
“Clean up pretty nicely yourself, Mr. Bradford.”
“Oh, so you’re a flirty girlfriend?”
You roll your eyes, attempting to pull away from Tim. He tightens his hands around yours and pulls you into a hug, hooking one arm around you as he leads you back to the white path.
✯✯✯✯✯
Sitting beside Tim, your hand stays in his until the food is served. So far, all of the attention has been on your cousin and her fiancé, and you’re more than happy to listen along to their chatter rather than talk yourself.
“What about you two?” your grandfather asks. “How’d you meet?”
Tim moves his hand out of yours, patting above your knee as he answers, “We met at work; different divisions, but we joined forces for a narcotics bust and I just couldn’t get her off my mind, so I had to ask her out.”
“How long have you been together?” someone inquires.
“5 years,” you and Tim say together. You add, “But we’ve only been serious for what? 6 months or so?”
“Since you finally agreed to my begging, you mean?” Tim asks, sending you a comforting smile. “Yeah, about that.”
“Cute,” your cousin comments before the conversation returns to her.
You close your eyes and release a breath, leaning toward Tim when his hand covers yours again.
✯✯✯✯✯
“How are we doing this?” You ask, standing at the side of the bed with your arms wrapped around your waist.
“It’s a bed,” Tim says, blinking at you. “Seems pretty straightforward.”
“Well, yeah, but… what if I, like, snore more or something?”
“I’ll live. Just get in the bed.”
You crawl under the covers, murmuring, “Thought you were gonna call me boot there for a second.”
“I still may,” Tim responds as he turns the light off, lying beside you. “Is this okay?”
“Yes. Thank you, Tim.”
“No problem.”
✯✯✯✯✯
When you wake up, it’s a few minutes before dawn, and a strong arm is holding you against the mattress. When you try to move, Tim pulls you closer before tucking you against him as he relaxes again.
“Friends on vacation,” you remember, pressing your cheek against his chest as you get comfortable.
Suddenly, you remember you have to survive another night by his side. The idea makes you want to pull away, but his touch and heartbeat lull you back to sleep before you can.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Your cousin is here,” Tim whispers, shaking you gently. “She wants to talk to you about dresses.”
“You’re a snuggler,” you mumble as Tim pulls you out of bed.
“No one will ever believe you,” Tim says darkly.
“Is she really here?”
“I wouldn’t lie about that. This isn’t a horror movie.”
Nodding, you pick up a change of clothes and move into the bathroom. Tim’s voice is muffled through the wall, but you can tell he’s being civil even as his patience wears thin. Straightening your outfit, you open the door and smile at your cousin and Tim.
“You’re wearing that?” she asks.
“You’re beautiful,” Tim says, smiling at you.
“What exactly are we doing?” you ask.
“I wanted to see the dress you’re planning to wear to the rehearsal tonight and the wedding and reception tomorrow. If you need something different, we can-“
“I won’t need different dresses,” you interrupt. “I like the ones I brought.”
“As do I,” Tim adds. “But I’ll leave you two to talk about dresses.” He stands, kissing your temple and pausing by your side to whisper, “Call if you need someone to save you.”
Smiling, you tell him to be careful. Your cousin waits until he leaves to sit on the end of the bed, waiting for you to show the dresses you packed.
As you hold them up, you remember Tim's compliments this morning as you hide your smile at her surprised reaction. And his arm around you last night. He’s taking his fake boyfriend duties seriously, and you’re unsure if your feelings can survive another night beside him.
“They’re pretty,” your cousin says finally. “I have a few more things to do before the rehearsal this evening, but I’ll see you around.”
“Congratulations again,” you call, exiting the chateau behind her to look for Tim.
When you round a corner on the white path, you run directly into Tim. His arms come up to catch you, holding you against his chest as he raises his eyebrows in surprise.
“Did it go okay?” he asks, rubbing a hand down your spine.
“Yeah. She said the dresses were pretty, so that was unexpected.”
“Wait ‘til she sees them on you,” Tim replies. “Can’t imagine getting upstaged at my own wedding.”
“What do you want to do for the rest of the day? The rehearsal isn’t until 5 and then most of the wedding party is leaving for bachelor and bachelorette parties.”
“You could model the dresses.”
“Stop,” you plead, laughing as you press against Tim’s chest.
“It’s my duty as your boyfriend.”
“I knew I should have asked Smitty.”
Tim narrows his eyes, shaking his head. “Don’t make me think about that.”
✯✯✯✯✯
“Where do you think the red path goes?” you ask.
“Are you asking me on a treasure hunt date?” Tim replies.
“Maybe. Care to follow our own version of the yellow brick road? See if you can find your usual personality on the way back to Kansas?”
“You don’t like my new personality? The one I created just for you?”
“Tim,” you warn. “Red path, yes or no?”
Tim takes your hand, leading you out of the chateau and back toward his truck before turning onto the other path.
“If we find a crime scene or something,” you begin.
“What?” Tim interrupts dramatically.
“If we find something unexpected, what then?”
“Wait,” Tim calls, gently pulling you back toward him. “What is this about?”
Glancing down, you say, “Last night.”
“Look, if I made you uncomfortable-“
“No, not at all. The, uh, the unexpected part was how much I liked it,” you admit quietly.
Tim taps his knuckle lightly against your chin, smiling as you raise your head to look at him.
“Just tell me what’s bothering you.”
“I don’t want to ruin anything. We’re friends, and I care about you, but this weekend could ruin everything if I make one wrong move.”
“You said it yourself, we’re friends, and we’ve been friends for years. Walking on eggshells around me all weekend is unnecessary, not to mention more dangerous than just telling me you like being cuddled.”
“You like being cuddled.”
“Never say that aloud again.”
You chuckle, taking Tim’s hand as you begin walking again. After a few minutes of walking in silence, you stop.
“The red path looks exactly like the white path,” you point out.
“Not true. The red path is red, and the white is white.”
“Wow. You should have been a detective.”
“Are we on the same page?” Tim murmurs.
“Yeah, I’ll be myself with you this weekend. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Nerd.”
“Excuse me?”
“Sorry, Dorothy.”
You roll your eyes, walking away from Tim. He laughs before taking a few long steps to catch up with you. Wrapping an arm around your shoulders, Tim apologizes, and you lean against him, trying to remember what he said about being honest.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Hi, sweetheart,” your aunt greets you as you enter the venue for the rehearsal dinner. “You are at table 2, and your boyfriend is at table 9.”
“You didn’t seat us together?” you ask.
“Well, it was late notice, learning you were bringing a plus one. Sorry.”
“Uh, okay. Thanks.”
Tim lays his hand on your lower back, leading you to your table.
“I’ll be right back,” he says, reaching over the table before leaving.
You watch him walk to his table, switching a nameplate before returning to your side. He sets his nameplate on the seat beside you, sighing as he sits.
“Have I told you recently that you’re the best?”
“You don’t have to, I know,” Tim answers smugly.
“What do you want to do when this is over?”
“Planning ahead, aren’t we?” Tim smiles as he leans toward you.
✯✯✯✯✯
Exiting the venue, you take Tim’s hand, wrapping your other hand around his forearm as you walk beside him. He tugs you closer, keeping you close until you’re back in your chateau. After changing quickly and washing your face, you collapse onto the bed.
“I thought my family was tiring,” Tim jokes.
“Still up for cud- lying closely on the same piece of furniture?” you correct.
Tim leans over you, smiling as he says, “Since you asked so nicely.”
You stare at the ceiling until Tim returns and pulls you into his side as he lays beside you. Rolling against him, pressing your ear to his chest so you can hear his heartbeat, you accept that things are changing.
“I don’t think we can go back to how things were before,” you mutter.
“Me neither,” Tim agrees softly, moving his hand to your upper back.
“Did I ruin everything by letting you come with me?”
Tim rolls onto his side, facing you rather than holding you.
“What’s the plan for tomorrow? Does everything get awkward after the wedding?”
“You didn’t ruin anything,” Tim answers. “I offered to come because it was an opening to spend time with you.”
“But-“
“We’re friends, right? That’s what we say but that’s not how it feels.”
“How does it feel?” you whisper.
“Like more. Tell me you’ve been pretending, and I’ll let this go, but nothing I’ve said this weekend has been a lie or an act.”
“I have feelings for you,” you confess. “I have for years, but I didn’t know how to tell you or what you’d think. So…”
“We both did. Stay quiet to preserve a friendship that could have been much more.”
Inhaling deeply, you move forward, closing the distance between you and Tim.
“You asked what happens after the wedding,” Tim says. “I’d like to keep going from here.”
“I’d like that too.”
Tim smiles, wrapping an arm around your waist as he rolls over, pulling you with him. You laugh against him, falling silent when you look into his eyes.
“Can I-“ Tim begins.
“Kiss me,” you demand.
Tim cups your cheeks as he pulls you down against him, kissing you softly. You slide your arms over his chest, holding his jaw as you reciprocate his every move. Tim’s arm tightens around your waist before someone knocks on the door.
Pulling away, you sigh before getting out of bed, cracking the door open to see who it is.
“Hi,” you greet, surprised to see your aunt outside.
“I moved your seats for the wedding and reception,” she tells you. “Since you seem inseparable.”
“Thank you.”
“Sorry for earlier, and for interrupting. I’ll see you at the wedding.”
After you close the door, you press your hand against it and take a few breaths, surprised by her apologies.
“Are you okay?” Tim asks, sitting up as he watches you.
Walking back to his side, you lie down and move against him, smiling as you answer, “I’m great.”
Tim holds you close, both of you falling asleep on the same side of the oversized bed. When you wake up the following morning, you chuckle at the sight of it, with one side still made after a night in Tim’s arms.
✯✯✯✯✯
“You’ve been in there for a while,” Tim calls, tapping his knuckles against the bathroom door.
“Maybe she was right,” you answer. “I mean, the dress looked great on the mannequin, but…”
“Open the door,” Tim demands.
“No.”
“I will kick it down. You know I can.”
You pull the door open before he can do anything, and Tim’s eyes widen when he sees you.
“You look…”
“I know.”
“Perfect.”
Furrowing your brows, you look down at the dress.
“How do you feel?” Tim asks. “In the outfit, in general?”
 “I feel good, really good.”
“Well, you look even better. Don’t let whatever someone said make you think otherwise. And I was right.”
“About?”
“You’re gonna look better than the bride.”
Tim’s smile, accompanied by his kind words, makes you smile, wrapping your arms around his waist as you hug him tightly. Your relationship with him has changed this weekend, and you’re still giddy because you can tell him you love him whenever you want.
“I love you,” you say against his suit.
Tim pulls back quickly, looking into your eyes as he asks you to repeat it. After you do, he smiles and replies, “I love you. I’ve loved you for years.”
“We’re going to be late,” you remind him, narrowly dodging a kiss.
Shaking his head, Tim offers his arm, keeping you close as you walk to the wedding venue entrance. Finding your seats, you sit beside Tim, pulling one of his hands into your lap as you look at him.
“Those bouquets are really bright,” you say.
“Our wedding will be much better,” Tim agrees.
“We’re getting married now?” you ask, smiling.
Tim looks at you from the corner of his eye, shrugging as he says, “Why not?”
“I love you, Tim Bradford.”
“Thank you for letting me be your boyfriend this weekend,” he replies. “I love you.”
“Oh, you’re going to be my boyfriend for a lot longer than this weekend.”
“And after that?” Tim asks, interlacing his fingers with yours.
“That part is up to you, I think.”
You stand, keeping your hand in Tim’s as the wedding procession begins.
“Then, yes, we’re getting married,” Tim whispers. “But it will be perfect.”
Keeping your attention on one another throughout the ceremony, you fall in love with Tim again. After the bride and groom walk down the aisle together, you pull the paper clip ring from your dress pocket. Tim stands, and when he turns to you, you raise it.
“Tim Bradford, will you be my boyfriend?”
Tim chuckles, pulling you up to kiss you before you slide the ring onto his finger. He had nearly forgotten about giving it to you before leaving the station but seeing it on his finger makes him even more eager to marry you someday.

“Are you fucking kidding me?”
Is the first thing you hear when you answer an incoming call from your little brother. Your face drops and Nolan must’ve noticed because he’s looking at you with a confused look on his face, mouthing ‘Are you okay?’ to you. You don’t respond to Nolan.
“What Luke? What’s up?”
You think you know what’s up. You have a gut feeling that what’s up is that you are in a relationship with his captain, a secret one at that.
“‘What’s up?’ Are you joking? You’re fucking Nolan behind my fucking back. What the fuck is wrong with you?”
You can’t respond, you don’t know how to. You open and close your mouth, making eye contact with Nolan again, who looks very concerned now.
“What? You can’t speak now? Your mouth won’t open? It was open fucking wide for my fucking captain, wasn’t it? God, what the actual fuck is wrong with you? You can’t keep your legs closed for one second, can you? Fuck!”
“Luke I- I’m sorry.”
You mewled out, he had just practically slut shamed you, there were tears all along your waterline, just waiting to fall off your lashes and down your face.
“Oh, you’re sorry? That’s nice, but it doesn’t take away the fact that you fucked him, does it? When he decides he’s done with you it could fuck up the team’s dynamic! Have you even thought about me for two seconds?”
“All I have done is thought about you, Luke! I wanted to tell you the second it started but I knew you would react like this! Like- like you would flip the fuck out! I really fucking care about him Luke, please just listen to me!”
Luke just wouldn’t stop, he kept shouting cruel things, and Nolan just couldn’t take watching you sit there, sobbing, while you’re brother used you as a punching bag. He grabbed the phone from your hand and put it to his ear.
“Hey Luke! Man-”
Luke scoffs, angrily laughing then huffing out a sigh.
“Of course she’s with you! What the fuck, dude?”
“Luke man please, neither of us planned for this to happen. We really fuckin’ care for each other. She’s been torn up about you not knowing for months, please hear us out.”
“‘Us’? Oh my God! ‘Us’? That’s fucking funny. I cannot believe either of you. God, fuck! When you two decide you're done having fun it’s gonna fuck shit up, big time. Fuck you, and her.”
Luke hung up the phone. You buried your face in your hands. Nolan put your phone down before he pulled you into him, his hand running up and down your back while the other cradles your head.
“I’m so sorry Nolan! I just fucked up everything, fuck!” He just shushes you, rocking the two of you back and forth on your bed.
-
It was three days later. Nolan called you last night and said how the last two days of practice had been shit, the tension very thick. He told you how he needed to put the team first with the upcoming playoffs, and how that meant he needed to be able to be the best captain he could be, meaning no bad blood between him and his teammates, so he broke up with you.
You have been so completely tore up. Laying in your bed in the dark in a sweatshirt you didn’t want to have to give back to Nolan. You hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday morning. The sun was beginning to set as you stared at your ceiling.
Your roommate has been an angel, talking to you, sitting with you, bringing you water, and offering you food. Luke had texted Jack about the situation, and Jack had texted Quinn about it, leaving the most mature of the Hughes’ boys to text you, and your mother.
Quinn had asked if you were okay, and felt terrible for you when you informed him of Nolan ending it because of Luke. Your mother had texted you, asking if you were alright, getting the full story from you before sending a long-winded message to your baby brother, reading:
“Luke Warren. I cannot believe the way you’ve treated your sister. Your words were not warranted in any way whatsoever. Have you noticed your sister’s level of happiness in the last 7 months? She went from always uninvolved and cut off from us to an absolute light of a girl. When I called and talked to her today she sounded absolutely broken down. When I say get your head out of your butt Luke, I mean it. Your sister deserves to be happy Luke, just as much as you do, and if you’re okay with taking that away because of a hypothetical problem that happens between her and Nolan, I am very disappointed. You better realize how ignorant you’re being and make this up to her. She loves you, Luke, so much. She is still the girl who let you sleep in her bed whenever you had nightmares, the girl that would shout at your brothers the second she saw you being left out. She deserves this Luke, and you need to realize that, because now Nolan’s broken up with her, and I don’t know if she is going to be okay.”
That being the first thing Luke saw on his phone after practice definitely surprised him. He let out a curse the second he saw his first two names in a text from his mother. The more he read, the shittier he felt. When he reach the end though, he was confused. ‘Nolan broke up with her?’ Was his only thought. He quickly looked around the locker room, trying to see if Nolan was still there, but he wasn’t. Nolan had felt like shit all of practice, Luke still barely talking to him. He left immediately after practice was over, going straight back to his place.
Luke cursed again, he got ready to leave and quickly walked back to the house so he could drive to your apartment. Once he got there he waited not so patiently before your roommate finally buzzed him in. He ran up the stairs and down the hall to your door, knocking loudly.
Your roommate let him in, not without mumbling ‘the fuck do you want, bitch?’ and rolling her eyes at him. She let him go back to where your room is, after making sure he wasn’t here to shout at you again.
You’re not surprised when you hear a knock on your door, but you are when you shout ‘Come in’ and see Luke standing in your doorframe. Your eyes widen, your heart sinking into your ass.
“Oh.”
It’s all you could say. You felt frozen, assuming Luke was here to be mad at you some more like he was over the phone. The more you look at him, you realize he doesn’t look mad per se, he looks like a kicked puppy.
“I’m sorry.”
You almost laugh out of surprise. You find it hilarious that he’s apologizing after the verbal abuse you took from him just three days ago. You don’t reply, looking him straight in the eyes, raising your eyebrows in expectation, needing him to say more.
“Shit, I- I am such a dick. It was so fuckin’ selfish of me to say that to you. I mean, yeah I would’ve liked to have known but uh, it was still so shitty of me. Please, please forgive me. And I know that I already fucked things up and that you probably won’t accept this but still, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking and when Grano accidentally mentioned you guys I just flipped out. The shit I said was wrong, I don’t think anything I said is true, I know it isn’t. I just, I’m so sorry.”
He looked absolutely pitiful. He was on the verge of crying. You stood from your bed and moved to him, wrapping your arms around him, he clung to you.
“Lu, don’t cry. Okay? It’s alright, what you said was shitty, but I should’ve just told you, alright? It probably would’ve saved a lot of screaming and tears. I’m glad mom got the stick out of your ass, huh?”
Luke lets out a teary laugh. Nodding into your shoulder, even though he was much bigger than you, he was still your baby brother. The way you were holding him made you think of when he was 5 and you were 7 and for six months he stayed in your room almost every night because he would have nightmares, and even if he didn’t have nightmares sometimes, he just felt safer with his big sister.
“‘M so sorry. Was gonna try to talk to Nolan after practice but he was already gone, so I just came here.”
You let out a sigh at the mention of Nolan. You were assuming that Luke doing this was also him telling you that he was okay with your relationship. But, after all the drama you weren’t sure Nolan would let you just run back into his arms.
“I dunno if it’s even worth it talking to Nolan, I don’t know if he’ll want to get back together after all this drama. He might just be good with it now.
Luke felt like absolute shit. None of this would’ve happened if hadn’t have been so irrational. He let out a sigh, pulling away from you.
“I am gonna go get you food, okay? I’ll get you tenders from Skeeps, huh?”
You laughed at your little brother’s effort.
“Lu, it’s Wednesday. Skeeps isn’t open.”
His face quickly fell. But he quickly shook it off.
“Whatever, I’m going to get you somethin’. Text me if you want something specific, okay?”
You nodded and laughed as he quickly left your room, saying bye to your roommate who after came to your room to see if everything was okay before hugging you.
Luke is gonna get you food, but he is also gonna call Nolan and apologize, and make him go to your place and be your boyfriend again.
The second he’s in his car his phone is to his ear, waiting for Nolan to pick up. He knows there is a chance Nolan won’t pick up, but he’s pushing that out of his thoughts. He almost gives up on the phone call but on what was probably the last possible ring, Nolan answered the phone.
“Uh hey man, what’s up?”
Nolan is very confused as to why Luke is calling him, knowing he’s barely sent him a glance over the last two days.
“Hey, Nolan. Bro, I’m so fuckin’ sorry. It was really shitty of me to say all those things to you guys and I was a real dick. I was acting totally out of nowhere because I was just really shocked I think.”
Luke took a pause, waiting for Nolan to say something before he took the conversation in another direction.
“Oh, um wow man. Yeah um it’s okay man, we should’ve told you. But uh, you know I broke up with her last night?”
“Yes I know, please go be her fuckin’ boyfriend again. She is so fucked right now. I didn’t even fucking realize how much happier she’d been recently, and now that I know you caused that, I can’t be the one to take that away from her. And I already talked to her about it but she was worried you might not like, want to be with her still. Bro, please go get her back.”
Nolan sits shocked. Shocked about Luke’s change of heart, and shocked that you believed he wouldn’t want you still. He stood from his seat on the couch of his living room and quickly grabbed his keys and put on his slides before practically running to his car, only wearing a tank top, sweatpants, and socks in the frigidity of January nights in Michigan. He says a few more things to Luke before he hangs up.
Nolan is barely thinking about anything when he parked in the lot of your building and was a little surprised at how quickly he was buzzed in.
Your roommate answered the door when Nolan quickly knocked, letting him in and telling him your whereabouts. You were surprised at how quickly Luke had gotten food when you heard a frantic knock on your door.
“You don’t have to knock Luke, just come in!”
“Uh, not Luke.”
You turned to face your door from your seat at your desk where you were lighting a candle, one Nolan had gotten you multiple times because you burned through them so quickly.
“Oh, Nol hi.”
Nolan standing in your doorway left you stunned, his grey sweatpants and black tank top that highlighted his huge arms made your mind go blank. You are thankful you spent a few minutes brushing your hair and cleansing your face after Luke left.
“Hey, um Luke called me, told me everything he told you probably.”
You suck in a breath, nodding. You stand and fully face him, but before you can even say anything, Nolan’s already wrapped his arms around you.
“I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t’ve ended things. I was just so nervous about Luke hating me and being captain but I really should not have done that. I’m sorry baby.”
You held him, running your fingers through his long hair.
“‘S okay, baby. Made total sense okay? But, I think now that my brother doesn’t have his head in his ass, you should be my boyfriend again.”
He pulled away from your neck to look at you, now taller than you, looking down at you, which was so hot.
“Yeah? I think so too.”
The way he said it was, so hot. He is just so hot. He looks from your eyes down to your lips, and then back up, and you swear your knees almost buckled. And when he leaned in and kissed you, he was practically holding you up.
Even though you’d only been broken up for probably 26 hours, it felt like so much longer, and the sweet kiss quickly turned into a makeout session. You walked Nolan back until he was sat on your bed as you sat down and straddled him, not breaking your kiss.
Nolan’s grip on your hips is tight as his tongue slips past your lips, causing you to gasp. Your hands clutch Nolan’s dark brown hair, tugging at the locks when you feel the tent in his pants grow beneath you, pulling a groan from him.
Nolan was about to start rocking your hips against his hard-on when your door was practically thrown open, the knob on the other side hitting your wall. You immediately pull away from Nolan, almost falling off his lap if it wasn’t for his strong grip on the backs of your thighs.
When you both see Luke, Chick-fil-A bag in hand, standing frozen at your doorway you don’t know what to do.
“Fuck, Luke! Knock or something!”
You quickly stand up almost tripping over Nolan’s feet as you practically run over to your door, pushing Luke out and then standing on the outside of your door as you close it.
You stand, back pressed against your bedroom door as Luke looks at you with a look that would normally be funny, but right now you’re just a little pissed, flustered, and dazed. You both just stand, staring at each other. Both trying to grip the fact that Luke just walked in on your very heated makeout session with his captain, his captain.
“Oh my God, what the fuck? I think I’m gonna puke, yeah, I’m definitely gonna puke.”
You slap his arm, giving him a look that reminded him of your mom, which made him smile.
“I cannot believe you guys are... ugh. I cannot believe I brought you food just to see that when I opened your door, you are truly disgusting.”
“I hate you so much. You are the worst. What did you get me?”
Luke laughs out loud at that, giving you your food before he claimed he had to go so he could bleach his eyes before the sight of you and Nolan set into his memory. But after that, he hugged you and told you he loved you, saying that he’ll see you when you’re not being so gross.
You walk him out, shouting that you love him as he quickly walks down the hall of your apartment’s floor. You talk to your roommate for a minute, then decide it’s time to go back and see your man. The man in question is kicked back on the pink fluffy blanket decorating your bed, a sight to see.
“Hi, baby.”
“Hey, is he gonna be okay? Didn’t mean to give the kid trauma or anything.”
You let out a laugh, reassuring Nolan that your brother is just dramatic, and not traumatized. Then you snuggle up next to him, eating your Chick-fil-A and feeding your fries to Nolan as you both talk about everything, from what new song you wanted him to listen to, to making plans for the summer, him staying at the lake house for a few weeks, you coming with him to New York to meet his family, it was all so exciting. You’re definitely glad that the secret was out because now you can be with him, like really be with him.

Steve's parents compete to matchmake him with someone 1/?
Jonas and Diane Harrington sat in silence as their son's confession hung in the air. They'd met homosexuals before. You didn't travel as much as they did and not meet different people. But it had never occurred to them that someone so close to them - that their own son might be...
"Can you guys say something? Please?", Steve begged.
"Oh honey...", his mom started. "...Was Tommy?"
"What?", Steve pulled back at that. "Tommy? And me? Me and Tommy? No. We were never like that. Ever."
"Well, good for you son. You can do better", his father said, leaning back in his chair a little.
"He was so smarmy. You deserve someone who'll actually take care of you", Diane said, putting her hand on top of Steve's.
He looked down at the point of contact. "What's happening here?"
"Well, you being, you know, in your way, doesn't change our conversation", Jonas said. "We still think you need to stop sleeping around and find someone to be a little more serious with."
Diane nodded. "It's not good when all the gossip at the hairdresser's is about who your son is messing around with. Oh! What about Matthew?"
Steve raised a brow. "Your hairdresser?"
"Not mine, but he did fix me up when we were in New York, you remember the gala? He's nice, worldly-"
"I'm sorry", Steve interrupted. "I just told you guys for the first time ever that I'm gay, and you immediately try to set me up with someone?"
"Your love life is getting out of hand", Jonas said. He leaned forward and tented his hands on the table. "There's bets down at the bar. On who you're gonna knock up first."
"But if you're gay, we don't need to worry about surprise babies, right hon?", Diane smiled.
"Actually, I have a question about that now", Jonas started before his wife sent him a glare. "But we can save that for later. Point is, you need to hold on to someone for longer than a week."
Steve shook his head. "I can't believe my parents are talking to me about dating. What makes you think I can even get a guy? Can't exactly put the moves on them like I normally would."
His parents looked to each other, proving that neither of them really had an answer. With a sigh, Steve asked to be excused and when they granted permission, he went up to his room.
"Our Steve...a...a queer", Diane whispered.
"You think it's because I made him play football when he was a kid?", Jonas asked.
Diane shrugged. "If anything it's because of all those musicals we watched together. Then she released a heavy breath. It couldn't have been easy for Steve to tell them. And it couldn't have been easy for him to go on all those dates with those girls.
And if the rumors were true, he'd done more than date them. Jonas reached out and grabbed his wife's hand. From the moment their son had been born, all they had wanted was for him to be happy and healthy. Sometimes the healthy part meant leaving him for extended periods of time. Clearly, he'd been left on his own for too long. Surely they would have caught onto this sooner if they'd been around more, been involved more.
"What are we going to do?", Diane asked.
"You and I knew what we were going to do when we started this conversation", Jonas said, standing up from the table and putting his hands on his hips as he paced about the kitchen.
"Jonas, we can't give him Noelle's number now."
"Not Noelle, we just switch gears. Find a...a Nolan instead", Jonas decided, nodding as if to convince himself.
"Jonas, even if we can find another gay guy in this town, how do we know Steve will like him?"
"I know my son, I've got a decent idea what he likes."
Diane shook her head. “You just don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I don’t know what I’m talking about?”, Jonas questioned. “What, I can’t see what makes a man attractive?”
“Not the way Steven would. I think I understand this a little better than you.”
Jonas’ hands went to his hips. “Oh you do? You think I can’t find our son a date? You don’t think I know a handsome man when I see one?”
“Name one then”, she challenged.
“….Robert Redford.”
She crossed her arms, unimpressed. "Easy shot. Now name five that are actually our son's age."
Jonas looked put out and rolled his eyes. There was...there had to be some rock star, who was Steve listening to nowadays? Did he have a poster of someone? Who was in the movies? Maybe he had mentioned a boy at school at some point?
"Well, the bar is very high Diane. Steven is obviously the best looking boy at his school."
Diane grinned and stood up. "Was. He graduated, remember?"
"How can I forget? The grays won't stop coming."
Steve's graduation had been what had sparked this evening. Not getting into college, their son had seemed directionless. And messing around with too many girls had been the cherry on top. They had agreed to a gap year for him if he could use the time to get his relationships in check.
If he was into men, that made it slightly more challenging, but they wanted to give Steve the freedom to find himself. It was more than either of them had ever had. And what good was all the money if they couldn't spoil him a little.
"So, maybe I don't know what he's into. Doesn't mean I can't find him a good guy", Jonas said.
Diane wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. "You do know a good thing when you see one."
They went upstairs to check in on their son only to find him halfway out the window with a packed duffle bag.
"I'm sorry", he said, leg hanging out. "There's just no way you guys were this cool about this."
"For god's sakes Steve, get back in here", Jonas grumbled, grabbing his son before he cracked his head on the ground.
"Believe it or not, your parents are capable of higher brain functioning", Diane said, already setting to unpacking the bag and putting the clothes away. "Some of this stuff doesn't even fit you anymore", she noted as she looked through his closet.
"Hey, how's about we all take a trip to the mall tomorrow?", Jonas suggested. "Refresh our wardrobes for the summer!"
"Oh that sounds perfect!", Diane agreed. "It's been a while since we Harringtons turned heads as a group."
Steve sat on the edge of his bed, looking tense, yet hopeful. "You guys don't...you don't think I'm any different? You don't...", his voice got small, "hate me?"
"Oh Steven!", his mother wailed and sat next to him in a rush, holding onto him tightly as she cried.
Jonas cleared his throat. "Di, there's no need for tears. There's nothing sad happening."
"I'm not crying because of Steve", she said defensively. "I was thinking about Matthew. I really hope he and Otis worked it out. And that he knows he always has family who love him. And that even if the world beats him black and blue he can always come home, okay? Always, you can always come home."
"Yeah mom, I know", Steve said, eyes wet as he got her thinly veiled meaning.
Jonas sniffed and patted Steve's shoulder. "And if the world does decide to put its hands on you, remember your old man's got mob connections."
Steve gave a watery laugh at that but thanked him anyway when his mom lit up in recognition.
"Oh! What about Ricci?"
"Ricci? For Steve? Get outta here", Jonas waved her off.
"Who is Ricci?", Steve asked.
"He's a nice boy", Diane answered.
"He's a numbskull is what he is. I'll do business with the mob, but I'm not giving them my son", Jonas said as he walked towards the door.
"Who said anything about giving? His family's well off, he can take Steve nice places", Diane said as she followed him.
Jonas threw his hands up in derision. "Mobsters are like five year olds with their dames. Once they lick it, it's theirs."
"OKAY good night!", Steve closed his door to shut out the rest of their talk.
"We're going to the mall at ten, honey! Be ready for breakfast", his mother called out, then continued her conversation with his dad. Probably debating whether or not to set him up with a closeted senator's son.
Steve rubbed his face and let out a sigh. He'd confessed tonight to get any talk of girls out of the way for the summer.
Mission accomplished?
Part 2 coming soon

Angela Lopez x reader
Angela is jelly because a rookie is hitting on reader rookie doesn’t realize they’re married until they have a group outing
i don’t like how this came out, so i apologize if you don’t enjoy it. also, picture whoever you want as the rookie!
jealousy
She heard your laugh from across the station.
The two of you had met when you were a rookie, and she was your training officer. But now you’d became a T.O., while Angela moved up to a detective.
It annoyed her because sometimes she’d only see you an hour a day until the two of you rejoined at home.
It also annoyed her, because it seemed that your new rookie couldn’t keep his hands or eyes to himself. He also had a way with words, as in, he was a flirt.
He’d only been there a few days, as the new group of rookies just came in, so you couldn’t blame him for not knowing you were married.
You didn’t even really know he was flirting with you, you just thought he was being nice. The two of you had just found a mutual hobby when you guys pulled the shop in.
You also don’t even notice that Angela is watching or even worried about the flirting.
He touches your arm, and Angela has to force herself to keep calm and collected at her desk.
It was nearing the end of the shift, about twenty minutes left or so, and Angela was tempted to just leave early with you.
But that idea flew out the door when she remembered everyone was going out tonight to celebrate Nolan’s birthday.
She clenches her jaw and tries to keep her focus on the computer, but your voice keeps making its way to her ears, and it’s distracting her.
“Okay, what’s wrong?” Nyla looks up with a bored expression on her face.
Angela bites her lip and looks to the side, debating on whether or not to tell Nyla.
“That rookie is flirting with Y/n,” Angela slightly squints.
“Well, she is gorgeous,” Nyla tilts her head to look at the two of you. “But, you know, maybe that’s his type.”
“Well my wife is not up for grabs,” Angela goes to stand, but Nyla keeps her from standing and tells her to sit back down.
“You’ll just make matters worse if you say something in the middle of the station,” Nyla shook her head. “Shifts almost over, they can’t possibly talk that long.”
Oh, but you do. Angela changes and comes out to see the two of you still going on and on about only god knows what.
You don’t even notice her standing there, really, until she says she’ll meet you in the car.
She hears you tell him it was nice talking and then, of course, you being the person you are, you invite him along to the celebration.
He accepts, and lets you know he’ll be by soon.
You change quickly and then head out to the car where Angela is impatiently waiting for you.
She drives in silence for a few minutes until you say, “Is something wrong?”
“No,” Angela shrugs it off.
“If you’re tired, we don’t have to go tonight,” You say.
“No, it’s Nolan. We’re going,” Angela keeps her eyes on the road, and you get the feeling something is wrong.
“Okay,” You push it to the back of your mind as Angela pulls the car into the bar parking lot.
As soon as you get out of the car, Angela is at your side, her arm wrapped around your waist.
Mostly everyone, minus the rookie is there, so it’s hard to miss them in the back corner.
Angela and you stand as you order your drinks, and that’s the exact time the rookie makes his entrance.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
He tilts his head closer to you so you can hear him, and that’s what has Angela losing it.
“Listen here, asshat,” Angela steps in front of you.
“Ange—“
“She’s married,” Angela blinks. “To me. So if you want to go after a married woman, go after someone else’s wife. She is mine, and you will stop touching, looking, and flirting with her. Have a nice night.”
Angela turns around to see you with your mouth open.
“What?” Angela has a hand on her hip, and you think it’s the hottest thing ever. “He needs to know what’s mine.”
You laugh and kiss her back when she smashes her lips into yours.
“That was hot,” Your grab her hand. “Now, let’s go celebrate Nolan’s birthday.”

Hi
It's ok if the request got deleted no need to say sorry,
Can u pls make a fic about papa nolan finding out about cillian and physicist!reader's relationship,
Like would he be angry or accepting, i was wondering
And then if u r comfortable with it then a time jump to the wedding or pregnancies
I would really like to know his reactions!!
This is really just a follow up to another anon request (which u made a fic on) and had this idea
Anyway so sorry for the long request
Have an awesome day ahead!!!!
nolan!reader x cillian murphy headcanons
I’m going to make these headcanons if that’s ok 🫶🏼🫶🏼 and i think i got carried away but who cares 😌
Ok so obviously y/n and cillian met in the early 2000s (you can make up how they met)
papa nolan knows that y/n is talking to a boy but he doesn’t know it’s mr. ‘my eyes aren’t even that blue’ so when y/n tells papa nolan that her bf is coming over for dinner, he’s preparing to meet so douche bag who says his favorite movie is pulp fiction or fight club (nothing wrong with that, but the film bros make me want to gauge my eyes out)
anyways, cillian shows up and ofc they get along great <3
after cillian and y/n are now OFFICIAL official obviously the press asks about what papa nolan thinks and if they get along
y/n and cillian are just the it couple of the 2000s like they’re on the cover of every magazine with those cheesy headlines ‘she’s got the beauty AND the brains’
literally any interview cillian or papa nolan do, they ramble about y/n and how proud they are of her
and you know how it goes, first comes love then comes marriage then comes y/n with a baby carriage🤍💍🍼 butttttt our fav nepo baby and Irish man don’t do it in that order bc my girl y/n got pregnant with their first baby in 2003 and she’s named alexandria
papa nolan is so excited about the birth of baby alex and he always offers to babysit whenever even if he’s busy
baby alex and papa nolan are my favorite duo 🫶🏼
eventually cillian and papa nolan work together on batman begins and you bet that baby alex is always on set
papa nolan at first did not want to bring her because he thought alex would be scared but she loved being on set and meeting everyone
her and christian bale become besties by the end of filming 🤞🏼
baby alex got to say the last “cut!” and everyone laughed because of how cute she sounded
bonus: cillian tried to get her to put the scarecrow mask on but she thought it was yucky (her exact words)
y/n and cillian don’t have kids until like 2014 because they were busy with work obviously like cillian getting movie roles and y/n being at work 24/7 and getting a literal nobel peace prize but eventually she does get pregnant and BAM it’s twins
it’s 2014 and they’re still not married (it happens ya know just ask academy award winner michelle yeoh)
but y/n gets pregnant and she wants to wait until the twins’ birth and then get married
but anyways the murphy twins arrive and papa nolan just cries happy tears because he now has more grandchildren to love and spoil whenever he wants to (they’re named scarlett and wyatt and papa nolan gives them nicknames idk what they would be but go wild with your imagination besties 🫶🏼)
papa nolan just wants to see his daughter get married and see her happy with her new family 🫶🏼
the day of the wedding comes and baby alex is the flower girl and steals the show
it’s a private wedding BUT that doesn’t stop it from being the most famous wedding of 2014
ofc christian bale is there like who doesn’t want batman at their wedding?? tom hardy, best man um yes?! peaky blinders cast, jake gyllenhaal (swifties, don’t hate me, I love jake and he’s one of my favorite actors)
jessica chastain and anne hathaway ofc they’re invited
u know if heath ledger was still alive he would def be invited 🫶🏼
I’m picturing the kids having career day at their schools and each kid takes an adult like papa nolan goes to alex’s school, wyatt takes y/n and cillian goes with scarlett and every adult is just like “fuck, how am i supposed to go on after them?!”
papa nolan goes all out with his presentation for career day like he even called hans zimmer and christian bale to impress the kids (obviously hans zimmer would impress the teachers, not the kids but some kids recognize the music from batman movies so let’s just go with it)
twitter loves the murphy-nolan fam 🫶🏼
no bc i just imagine the edits to beautiful boy with dad!cillian and I’m bawling
ok ok flashforward to 2023 and oppenheimer is coming out and twitter gets more content on the murphy-nolan fam
y/n finally does an interview bc she worked with the cast and taught them about ✨science✨
Y/N AND CILLIAN AT THE OPPENHEIMER PREMIERE AND THEN PAPA NOLAN PHOTOBOMBING THEIR PICS
overall the murphy-nolan fam has my heart and surprise! the murphy kids watched barbie because the twins are not even old enough to watch oppenheimer and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want to watch their dad have fake s e x with another woman (FLORENCE PUGH ILY)

Different Type of Workout | Nolan Moyle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: you get tasked with helping Nolan release some anger, but things take a turn and it’s released in ways that Coach Naurato probably didn’t intend.
request: yes/no
warnings: mature themes, p in v, sex in semi public place, oral (male receiving!)
word count: 2.4k
authors note: honestly I’ve been waiting to write for Nolan since this account as been created, and with us reaching 400 followers it felt right to write for him. Also what better way to start Super Smut Thursdays than with a bit of enemies to lovers (or should I say fuckers).
Tumblr media
He had always been a pain in your ass.
Way back in freshman year when you joined the team as an assistant trainer he seemed to have it out for you. If there was a snarky comment he made it, if there was a chance to make your day turn miserable he did it, any chance he had to remind you of how much he disliked you he took it.
As a result the two of you were often paired up for things then, but coach Nauratos efforts never succeeded yet that didn’t mean he stopped trying.
Nolan had gone through a string of games where he was letting his aggression get the best of him thus allowing the ingenious idea of getting you in the boxing ring in the gym with him.
The boy wasn’t impressed with the idea as he kept on repeating the fact that he “doesn’t hit women,” which honestly surprised you. Everyone thought that he’d be jumping at the opportunity to get in a ring with you.
Even when you held the punching gloves up you could still see how hesitant he was “you’re not gonna hurt me,” you reminded him as you motioned to the two targets that he was meant to aim at.
It was the way he rolled his eyes that made you laugh “how do you know that I don’t want to hurt you?” Nolan mentally cursed himself the second the question left his lips because of how it made you smile “because you don’t have it in you.” You explained as deep down you knew you were perfectly capable in the ring if Nolan did indeed decide to get cocky.
He sent you his unimpressed look as he threw the first punch “c’mon captain,” you motioned to him to use a bit more power. What you didn’t realise was the way his shorts began to grow tight at what you called him.
No Nolan didn’t have a captain kink but the way it rolled off of your tongue seriously made him wonder if he’s missed out on a lost opportunity.
When he didn’t throw another punch you grew irritated “Jesus Christ Nolan!” You scoffed as you took the gloves off to replace them with actual boxing gloves.
His eyes went wide “what are you doing?” He asked as he watched you walk back over with the gloves under your arm.
You sent him a glare “trying to figure out what you need me to do in order for you to actually punch me!” Your raised voice took him a step back as he grew even more surprised “I’m not gonna punch you.” His mom had taught him better. You began to wish that he would stop trying to act like the good guy for a moment and just listen to you “do I need to punch you then?” You blurted out as your crossed your arms.
Nolan scoffed as he began to take his gloves off “this is stupid,” he announced as he shook his head and turned around to make his way out from the ring.
Luckily for you there was a trick your dad had taught you in the ring as a child, you hadn’t done it in years but you couldn’t think about that as you had to act quickly.
It was a sigh of relief moment when the ankle kick worked and you brought him to the ground. Nolan rolled over onto his back as he sent you a glare “what the fuck was that for?” He asked as you hovered over him.
The grin on your lips was obvious “just reminding you who is in charge here,” you explained as you held your hand out to help him up.
But what you didn’t expect was that he’d take your hand and pull you down onto him.
With a bit of surprise you looked down from his eyes to his lips causing him to smirk “is little y/n enjoying this?” He cooed as his thumb drew circles over your legging covered thighs. Nolan had to admit that he’s been beneath worse views before.
Just like always he had to ruin the moment “was gonna suggest a different kind of workout to get rid of that anger but clearly you’re not interested.” Your voice was serious and as you got up the boy realised that he had screwed up.
It took him seconds to pull you back as he leaned forward to capture your lips in a kiss. The yelp of surprise that left your lips let him swipe his tongue over your lower lip and occasionally into your mouth. The boy groaned as you began to grind your ass over his shorts “didn’t think you’d be this desperate,” Nolan tsked his tongue as he pulled away from you “I know what I want,” you shot back as your lips formed a pout when you batted your eyelashes at him.
Nolan swore he was dreaming at the sight of you “take it then,” he wasn’t a sub by any means but he was honestly feeling really turned on still by the fact that you had got him to the floor.
You contemplated remaining on the line of professionalism but as you got up and offered your hand to the boy you realised that he wanted this just as much as you did.
And that’s how you two make your way to the girls locker room “I’m not going in there,” Nolan shook his head as he watched you wrap your hand around the door handle. You pursed your lips into a thin line “got any better ideas?” You shot back as the girls didn’t have practice right now so it would have meant that the locker room would be empty.
The boys eyes trailed to his own locker room “practice ends in fifteen minutes,” you warned looking down at your watch.
Your comment made Nolan laugh “I could make you come in five,” he pointed out with a smirk as you squeezed his hand telling him to lead the way.
You had been in the locker room plenty of times before but you had never seen it this quiet “I’m not fucking you in your locker!” You scoffed as you watched him dig through his duffel bag.
Nolan let out a laugh as he looked at you “just grabbing a condom princess,” the nickname made you roll your eyes as you made your way to the stalls “in here,” you motioned as you held the door open for the team captain.
He smirked as you reached behind him to lock the door “don’t want an audience?” The boy teased as he ran his fingers along the collar of your shirt.
The boys ability to get under your skin was uncanny as you let him stay there “just didn’t think you’d want your teammates to see how poorly you fuck a girl.” You pursed your lips into a thin line as there was an amused gleam in your eyes.
You were enjoying this.
A dry laugh left the boys lips as it bounced off of the walls “that mouth is going to get you in so much trouble.” Nolan warned as his thumb ran over your lower lip.
It should have been scary how easily you kept your cool “maybe it’s about time you did something about it then,” you shot back as you ran your fingers through his hair making sure that you tugged on the ends of it.
He actually smiled as he got an idea “on your knees,” Nolan tapped your shoulder as you lowered yourself onto the floor.
Watching him untie the strings on his shorts made your mouth water as it gave you a view of his bulge “now let’s see what that mouth of yours can actually do,” he proposed as he hooked his fingers in the waist band of his boxers as he pulled them down letting them fall to his ankles.
You looked up at him with a nod as you kissed the tip of his cock “don’t tease me now princess,” he warned when he saw you try to kitten lick his length.
If you weren’t horny or on the bathroom floor you would have laughed at his request, but instead you decided to listen letting your tongue swirl around his cock. His hand locked itself around your hair that was held up by your hair tie.
The groans that fell from his lips made you clench your thighs “keep sucking me so good,” Nolan pleaded as he let his head fall back.
You wrapped your hands around his thighs letting yourself push forward as you gagged around his cock. The muffled noise of you gargling as it hit the back of your throat echoed off of the walls of the empty locker room.
Just as Nolan began to feel himself let go the door to the locker room opened “how come Nolan gets to work with her,” Ethan complained as he walked in with someone else.
The mystery person laughed “that’s just because you think she’s hot,” Mark pointed out as he slapped the younger boys shoulder.
Nolan’s hand tensed around your hair as he felt like he was going to let out a moan. The look he sent you was full of warning like he was trying to tell you to behave.
Unfortunately for him that wasn’t what you had in mind as you sloshed your tongue from side to side eliciting a groan from the older boy “you hear that?” Mark asked as they were about to leave.
You slowly moved your mouth as you let the boy just thrust his cock again. It was clear that Nolan was holding in a moan “you’re probably just hearing things,” Ethan shrugged before he let the door shut behind him.
Before you could smile Nolan pulled you back onto your feet “you think that was funny?” He cocked his head as he watched you run your thumb over your lip “been told I can be hilarious,” you confessed as you leaned forward to kiss him but quickly turned your lips into a pout when he leaned backwards.
Nolan let out a laugh “maybe I just need to fuck a bit of sense into you.” He pointed out as he fiddled with the end of your shirt.
You nodded “hope that wasn’t another empty threat,” you shot back as your tongue darted between your lips.
It seemed like a switch was hit in his mind “get that off,” he mumbled as he motioned to your leggings “Nol-” your voice was soft as you were taken aback by the forcefulness of his voice.
The boy placed his hand next to you “take it off before I rip those,” Nolan warned as you listened to him “you rip these and I’ll kill you,” you shot back as you revealed your blue lacy thong.
Nolan groaned as he watched you pull your shirt off too “something tells me you knew you were gonna get fucked today.” He smirked as he leaned down to kiss your collar bone.
You smiled as you giggled “thought I would have already been fucked by now,” you confessed “seven minutes captain.” You added as you looked at your watch.
His hands went back to his cock so that he could roll the condom over it “only need five,” Nolan mumbled as he ran his cock against your clit before he pushed it into your core “god,” you groaned as you dug your nails into his arm as you readjusted to his size.
It made him laugh “just me princess,” he picked your legs up as they wrapped around his waist.
You almost screamed at the new angle that he was hitting you at “fuck you,” you let your eyes turn to a squint as you sent him a glare.
Your back continued to hit against the wall as the hockey player smiled “that’s what you’re doing,” his joke drew a scoff from your lips.
His hand trailed in between the two of you as he pulled your bra down “want to hear you scream,” he murmured as he began to nip at your neck.
Moans echoed through the the room as it was mixed with the sound of skin slapping together “Nol,” you pleaded as you groaned “keep fucking me,” you begged as you felt his hand move down to your clit.
The sensations made you shut your eyes “who’s making you feel this good?” Nolan asked as he mumbled into the shell of your ear sending chills down your spine.
It made you feel light headed “you,” you whispered as causing the boy to click his tongue “who?” He was clearly wanted you to say it louder.
As you remained silent as you couldn’t form a coherent sentence “I asked you a question princess,” Nolan reminded you as he began to slow down.
Your eyes snapped opened “don’t stop fucking me now captain.” His title rolled off of your tongue like honey as you sent him a content smile as his thrusts began to pick up in speed again.
You didn’t know if it was the new angle that you were experiencing or the pace and the sensations of his thumb on your clit but you were quickly approaching your high “I’m gonna come,” you announced letting the word squeak out of your mouth.
Nolan smiled as he shook his head “hold it,” he knew that he was just behind you but he needed a bit more.
Moans were practically acting like music as you clenched around him “I can’t,” you didn’t think you would last another second.
The boy hooked his one hand under your chin as he kissed you “let go.” The moment he gave you the green light you came almost that instant with the hockey player quick on your tail as the boys own orgasm was spurred on as you clenched around him multiple times in a short burst of time as your core began to throb.
Your breath was shaky as your head fell onto his shoulder “wow,” you huffed causing the boy to laugh.
Before Nolan could respond though the door to the locker room swung open “I wonder if Nolan is winning?” Luca asked as he walked in with the other freshmen “definitely winning princess.” Nolan whispered as he kissed your earlobe.
Definitely winning.

Just when I was chugging my Batfamily juice and was trying to nail down an idea for that, here comes season 2 of Invincible, "hey you wanna see an alternate universe version of Mark who turns evil like his father and when Eve rebels against him he literally PRACTICES AND PERFECTS how to non-lethally PERMANANTLY PARALYZE HER so he can stop her without killing her"
Like genuinely the actual psychotic yandere adjacent behavior and he's also gaslighting her the entire fucking time, like genuinely one of my favorite but most infuriating tropes of the "unwilling hero x infatuated villain" dynamic is when the villain is like psychologically manipulating their intended conquest with the whole, "I didn't kill your friends, YOU killed your friends when you recruited them to stop me/run away/save your planet whatever. sweetie i hate seeing you upset so why did you make me break your toys"
I know the clip is about Mark but I can just see Nolan and a human/hero darling and you're desperately trying to run away from him, break up with him, literally run away and disappear, and you've got all your friends and coworkers helping you literally like, leave the country, maybe even leave the planet, and here comes Nolan crashing in, reducing all of your friends to just PASTE and you're sitting there mourning and screaming and horrified and here's Nolan just tut-tutting at you, "why would you make me do something like that? You think I WANT to make you cry like this? You got a little scared and got your friends involved on some little scheme and now look what happened! Honey can't you see why I'm worried about leaving you alone? You need me"
It's like. It's like in Don't Worry Darling where the boyfriend would rather keep her completely helpless in an unfulfilling mediocre life when before she actually used to have significantly more agency and played a role in society but he thinks THIS is what's best for her, and inherently implying being his wife is all she needs. You could be like a molecular scientist or some shit and Nolan will think you're so cute and smart but it's in an "oh look at you and your little human tech, that's so cute, not anything like MY species though" infantalizing way. You could've been a scientist on the cutting edge of technology furthering your species and Nolan is just like, "but it's just human stuff" and thinks it doesn't matter because. I mean. He loves you but your lifespan is NOTHING like his, and your planet is already going to be conquered and Viltrum doesn't really need your work, so, just, settle into being his complacent little mate ok? Just focus on being his companion and, if you're able, he'd like to start on making a family--
I think it would be absolutely horrifying to find out you're pregnant and be trying to run away from this man with the baby because like. Fuck off if you think he'll let that happen. And in another twist, could you even imagine if you turned out to be a viltrumite hybrid or some kind of powered mutant too. Imagine being absolutely terrified and running to get an abortion and they can't even sedate you because suddenly your skin can't be pierced by a needle. Like actually on a conceptual level just, brine in the concept of not even having abortion as an option, knowing there is some inhuman hybrid growing inside of you that has now completely taken your body for itself, cannot be removed, holding you hostage like a malicious little parasite. Meanwhile Nolan is OVERJOYED because this is going to be his first baby ever and, obviously, the first baby the two of you are having together. The first of many, he hopes
I also think it'd be like. So fucked up if this is some twisted "something unrelated and unfortunate happened to Debbie" scenario where Nolan is raising Mark on Earth already as a single father and THEN Nolan falls for you because like. Imagine technically being not that much older than his son and the second these yandere aliens attach themselves to you, you've got a husband who you don't even know how old he is and a "son/brother" who's like. Maybe not even 5 years younger than you. Like can you imagine making friends with Mark and you're like hanging out and playing video games and suddenly it's just "Oh hey dude your father's been acting kind of weird around me, and-- wait what? What do you MEAN you guys want me to live here. What do you MEAN I could be like a big sister to you, bro we were just playing Xbox--"
You think of Mark as a buddy and friend and you eventually find out he and his father are straight up stalking you and starting to dig their fingers into your life and your business. You're at work running back and forth not knowing the figure floating and watching from however many hundreds of yards away amd scowling as you're worked to the bone. You grab a drink with a coworker and they kiss you at the door of your apartment and the next day they got into an accident that sent their car off the road, killing them. You vent personal private feelings to Mark because he's a good friend in your relative age group and he's running off, "DAD LISTEN--" "oh so That's why they've been like that. Huh. Good work, son." like the actual fucking levels of SCHEMING
And just when you think maybe you've gotten away and shaken them off, then you've got some third motherfucker suddenly showing up at the secret hideaway in another country you poured the rest of your money to. An old man with white hair and an unamused expression introducing himself only as Cecil as he not so subtly threatens you that he has Nolan on speed-dial and that the American government has an especially vested interest in you returning home, maybe or maybe not to pacify the not one but TWO extremely irreplaceable alien protectors of the planet, and then you've got Seal Team Six already shoving you in a duffle bag and dropping you off on the Grayson doorstep just in time for dinner

Don’t You Ever Grow Up
mat barzal x model!fem!reader
a visceral in doses fic
warnings: minor angst, mentions being scared and nervous
Tumblr media
Lately the days have been flying so fast, you feel like you will never catch up. And maybe, you don’t want to catch up. Nolan is starting pre-school -which was something that was decided last minute- and Nolan isn’t excited about it. He starts the same day as Mat’s first day of the new season. There’s just a lot of changes happening, so you and Mat decided to spend the day, before all the change, as a family day. More specifically, whatever Nolan wanted to do.
You feel so bad for your baby, he’s really nervous about starting school. You can’t help but feel guilty for the way he’s feeling. Mat has been quick to soothe you, assuring you that this time was coming and there was no stopping it. Mat is great in that way. In all ways, really. He’s so quick to make sure you and the kids are feeling loved and happy.
“Mommy?” Nolan opens your bedroom door, peeking behind it.
“Mommy’s still asleep, buddy. Is everything okay?” Mat whispers, his body propped up by his elbow as his body is faced toward your sleeping figure. He was watching you sleep as you’ve been deprived of it lately.
“Cuddle?” Nolan asks, seemingly shy.
“If you can squeeze between me and mom,” Mat teases, chuckling.
Nolan comes charging to your bed, happily climbing up. He does, however, wake you up in the process. You feel his tiny body nuzzle next to yours, so you bring a hand to card through his hair.
“Good morning, Nolie bear,” you kiss the top of his head.
“Morning mommy. I love you. I love you, daddy,” he says through a yawn.
“I love you.”
“I love you, little man,” you and Mat say at the same time.
Nolan rolls into Mat’s arms, pulling you with him for a Nolan sandwich. It brings out the happiest giggles from your oldest.
Sloane’s cries ring from the baby monitor, which will also trigger Angel’s cries. Mat volunteers to attend to them while you cuddle in bed with your first baby.
“What do you want to do today, baby? Anything you want,” you ask him.
He looks up at you with excited eyes, nervously asking, “can we go skating?”
He has been begging you and Mat to take him out on the ice for the first time, especially after getting his very own hockey kit from his grandma for Christmas last year. You’ve been very hesitant all while Mat’s been patiently waiting.
“You know what, Nolan? I think that’d actually be a great idea, and I think daddy will be really excited,” you say to him, booping his nose.
His face scrunches up, his arms wrapping around you the best they can.
“Can we join in on this cuddle sesh?” Mat asks, holding Sloane and AJ in each arm.
Sloane is already dozing off, as per usual when she’s in her daddy’s arms, and Angel is watching you with his head leaning on Mat’s shoulder.
“Actually, we all need to get ready. It’s a very important day. We’re taking Nolan out on the ice for the first time,” you say nonchalantly, but Mat perks up and hands Sloane over to you so you can feed her.
“I will get the boys dressed and fed, and I will get Sloane ready after she eats. Thank you, baby, I’m really excited,” he rambles, nose scrunching up the same way Nolan’s was.
“I love you,” you beck him over for a kiss.
“I love you.”
———————————————————————
“Daddy, I’m kinda scared. Don’t let go,” Nolan mumbles, clutching onto the sleeves of Mat’s hoodie.
He’s not so confident on skates, but Mat’s doing a great job at guiding him.
You’re seated on the bench, Sloane extra bundled up in her car seat and Angel perched on your lap, cuddled in your arms. He watches with wide eyes, already captivated by the skates on ice.
“Baby, look at daddy and Nolie,” you point them out to him, and he does his little dance and giggles.
“Dada!” Angel screeches, gathering Mat’s attention, so he waves in your direction.
“Okay, Nolan, I think it’s time for you to go by yourself. Don’t worry, I’ll be right behind you to catch you if you fall,” Mat squats down and stares into Nolan’s eyes.
Nolan’s lips quiver and his eyes get watery as he looks your way.
“Maybe mommy doesn’t want me to. I should ask her,” he mumbles, pulling on Mat’s hand.
“Hey, baby, Nolan wants to know if you think he should do his first solo skate, with me at a close enough distance to catch him,” he says to you.
“My boy, I love you,” you kiss Nolan’s cheek.
“I think you should try to skate on your own, only if you want to, though. Don’t feel like you have to, and don’t feel like you can’t because you’re worried about me. Mommy gets nervous, but that’s because it’s my job. If you want to skate, then skate,” you say to him.
“Okay, mommy. I skate like a big boy!”
“There you go!”
“C’mon, bud, let’s go make mommy proud,” Mat gives you a parting kiss and sets Nolan back on his skate-clad feet.
Nolan stumbles his first few tries, but each time he picks himself back up. It’s when he's down to his last couple minutes on the ice, that he finally skates for a whole minute on his own. You’ve never been so happy to see his proud smile. Your husband lifts his son in the air, spinning him around while kissing his cheek. When they get back to you, you pull Nolan in for a long hug. You want to cry just thinking about how fast he’s growing up.
“You did so good,” you whisper for Nolan to hear, but you’re also looking into your husband’s eyes, so he knows you’re talking to him, too.
Later that night, you go out for pizza and take Nolan to his favorite toy store. People probably think you’re crazy with the way you’re always snapping pictures, but you desperately needed a reminder of the day.
Back at home, you and Mat give all the kids a bath and get them tucked into bed. Last is Nolan, as per his request. It’s his way of making sure he gets your full attention.
You’re combing Nolan’s dark, brown hair in your bed when Mat exits from his own shower. He throws himself on the bed and you laugh at the way Nolan laughs at him.
“Mommy, can I sleep in here tonight?” His hazel eyes peer into yours, and you think about the day you first saw them in the hospital.
“Of course, my love.”
“Mommy, I’m scared,” he whispers, but Mat clearly hears him because he’s sitting up in an instant, pulling Nolan into his arms.
He holds him like he did when he was a baby, you tear up at the sight.
“Why are you scared, bub?”
“I don’t want to be by myself tomorrow at school,” he explains.
“It’ll only be for a little while. Me and daddy will be there to pick you up afterwards,” you assure him.
“Promise?” He mumbles, eyes getting a little red.
“Of course, baby. Me and daddy will drop you off and pick you up. You won’t be gone for too long and you’ll be doing a lot of fun activities,” you assure him, kissing his forehead.
He only nods his head, nuzzling himself into Mat’s bare chest. It’s been a while since they’ve had skin to skin contact, so you know they’re both enjoying their time together. Especially since Mat’s been getting busier and busier, you know Nolan needs his time with him.
“I go to sleep,” he whispers and a few minutes later, he’s knocked out in Mat’s arms, his head over his heart.
“Today was amazing,” Mat whispers.
“It was. I’m glad I got a lot of pictures.”
“Remember when I took you out on the ice for the first time? I remember you being scared just like Nols. He reminds me a lot of you,” he says to you.
You scoff and playfully shove at him, careful not to wake your boy.
“That’s funny being that he looks exactly like you, but yes I remember. I had fun then, too.”
“I love you so much, Y/n. Thank you for making me a father.”
“I love you.”
———————————————————————
Luckily, your best friend offered to watch over your two youngest so you and Mat can peacefully take Nolan to his first day of school.
During the car ride there, you sat in the back with him, letting him chatter to get his nerves out. Nothing prepared you for the way he latched onto Mat on the walk over to his classroom. Mat is trying so hard not to cry, his nose pressed in the crook of Nolan’s neck, committing his smell to memory. You’re walking behind them, your hand clutched in your sons.
“Please promise me you’ll be back,” he mutters, sadly, eyes starting to tear up.
“We promise. We’ll be here. We love you so much, Nolan. Have fun and make some new friends,” Mat says, kissing his cheek before letting you pull him into a hug.
“Have fun, baby boy, we’ll see you later,” with that, you part ways with your sons, your hand tightly held in Mat’s.
When you make it back to your vehicle, Mat pulls you into his body, his face burying itself in your neck and his shoulders shaking as he cries.
You run your hands up and down his back, kissing his temple, and letting out a few tears of your own.
“He’s not a baby anymore. Why does this hurt so much?” He mumbles against your skin.
“I know, baby. I’m sad, too. Just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, scared out of our minds. He’s going to do so good, though,” you respond, pulling his head out of your neck to kiss his lips.
“We should get out of here before someone files a complaint about our pda,” Mat teases after spending a few minutes too long kissing you.
“Let’s go cuddle our little ones. We know now that time flies by,” you mutter and Mat agrees.
a/n: This is soooo late so sorry about that. I hope y’all enjoy!!

Runt: an Omni-Man x Gender Neutral Reader Darkfic
TW: noncon, violence, blood, humiliation/verbal degredation
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Reader's mother, the superhero Firebright, has gone into hiding. Omni-Man brutally interrogates Reader as to her whereabouts.
Reader is a Young Adult, Gender Neutral, appearance not specified
Read after the cut
✂️ ✂️ ✂️
"Where is your mother?"
There is something wrong with Omni-Man, frigidity in the barrens of his pale eyes. He stands at the door like an omen of shadows to come, his bulk filling its narrow confines immovably.
You gaze up at him, and the ice of his derision glares back.
“I asked you a question,” says Omni-Man. “Where is Firebright?”
His air of perpetual and mildly pompous congeniality has fallen away from him, perhaps had never truly been.
He's a stranger, now, come to your house with some hard purpose.
"My Mom?" you repeat, faintly. "She's out cleaning up after some crime, I think. I don't really know."
A lie, which you had promised you’d keep, come what may.
Your mother, a heroine of fire-wielding prowess, has informed you that she must go into hiding, from who or what threat she wouldn't say. You’d believed—without knowing its source—in that danger.
Now Omni-Man is at your door, and you think again of your mother's hands, how they had trembled. How thin she’d looked, and how afraid.
"I'm sorry, Nolan," you mumble. "I don't know when Mom’ll be back. She didn’t tell me."
"I don't believe that's true," says Omni-Man, and he steps forward, extending an arm to prevent you from closing the door against him. "I need you to tell me where she is immediately."
His face is handsome and severe, the jaw like a pane of white glass. The tension in it speaks of unshed violence and disdain, of loathing kept like a spider in an upturned jar, poised on release.
Fear draws you down in its dizzying pulse, and suddenly you're quite glad that your mother kept her location from you, that you can’t spit it out even under duress.
"I have no idea, really, I don’t," you say, and Omni-Man steers you back across the living room, his cloak whisking the backs of his thighs like a wind of blood. "Nolan, please. I swear I can't help you. What’s happening right now?"
You’re up against a wall, vulnerable and so very human. Unlike your parents, you’ve never developed powers of any kind to protect you or those you love, and Omni-Man knows it.
He’s been good friends with your mother since you were young, and has long comforted her with the suggestion that your abilities might one day arise. You’ve been no more a threat to this man than a moth to the devil, and yet you’d never once feared him, till now.
"Ellen must have given you some way to contact her," says Omni-Man, his mouth a joyless line beneath his moustache. "Call her immediately. Stop wasting my time with your blabber."
"I don't understand,” you say, avoiding the order. “Is something wrong?"
A gloved fist strikes the wall above your head, shaking down fragments of plaster upon you. Thinking how simply your skull might have bowed into a cave of bone beneath such pressure you cry out, a sound entirely too feeble to be called a scream.
Omni-Man looms over you, his eyes the blue of long dead flesh.
"Stop asking questions about things that have nothing to do with you. Either you hand Firebright over, or I show you what happens to those that get in my way."
There is, in a drawer in the house, a remote you could press, for the times in which your mother is otherwise unreachable. You could go to it, call her back from whatever bunker protects her from harm.
But as Omni-Man's stare bores through your anguished expression you understand, with a chilling clarity, that he means to kill your mother, and that only your stance against him preserves her life.
Gulping, you say, "Whatever you think my Mom did, she couldn't have done it. You know her, you're her friend, Nolan—"
Omni-Man’s fist grinds into the wall, his arm cutting through it to the shoulder.
"Don't use my name as though you mean anything to me, you pathetic, powerless runt. Look at the way you turned out: a snivelling weakling, not even a spark at your fingertips. No wonder your father left. You’re a disgrace to him and your mother. I'd be ashamed to have you as my child.”
Only shock halts the tears that burn behind your eyes, a wounded magma.
"Please don't say that to me,” you whisper. “I— I've always looked up to you. I love you, Nolan."
For a moment you think you see a flash of the old, kind feeling across Omni-Man’s chiselled features.
Almost at once it dies away.
"Too bad,” he says. “I don't love you, brat. Now tell me how to find your mother before I rip you into pieces."
Putting your hands on Omni-Man’s chest, you gaze up at him with beseeching eyes.
"Nolan, Nolan, tell me what happened. I’ll help you figure it out. Whatever it is, I know Mom had nothing to do with it."
Something of your gentle touch, your cringing innocence, provokes him.
"Alright,” snaps Omni-Man. “You had your chance."
In a spurt of nauseating speed he drags you upstairs by a sudden grip on your throat, your breath smacked from your lungs as you hit your bed and roll across it, head over heels, like a fallen acrobat.
Omni-Man looks about him, scoffing at your room’s dated, childish decor, the tattered stuffed animals still poised in glassy-eyed rows on your dresser.
"No wonder you don't have any powers,” he sneers. “You're stunted in every way."
His hand makes a lariat of your shirt collar, briefly throttling you until your feet kick out in twitching throes. Then he rends the cloth down the middle, repeating the act on your lower garments before you’ve enough air to protest.
You’re so stunned that you don’t think to cover yourself, only stare, jaws parted, hot from cheek to toe with shame, with horror.
A beating was the furthest you’d expected from the interrogation: the intent behind the night cliffs of eyes upon you seems, even now, quite impossible, an absurdity plucked from some sticky summer dream.
"No,” you say— you speak in a low, flat sort of murmur, as you’d address a beloved dog that turns and shows its teeth. “Omni-Man, please, please, you're like family. You can't do this to me.”
"Of course I can,” he snaps. “And I'm going to do it over and over until you tell me where Firebright is. Daily, if I have to. I'll break you down until you're no better than a drooling animal. Not that you're so far from that now."
A devastated moan spills from your tight throat as Omni-Man leans over you, his pale suit straining across his bulk. He pauses with his face close to yours, every vein in his eyes standing out like streaks of flame.
"Now, talk,” he says. “I don’t want to waste any more time here than I have to.”
Tears make glazed glass of your cheeks as you turn your face aside, unable to look at him any longer.
"This isn't like you, Nolan."
Omni-Man’s mouth is a razor’s wound across his white teeth when he answers.
"This is more me than you'll ever know."
He pins you to the bed with an abrupt and frightening strength, opening the groin of his suit with his other hand to jerk the flesh that rises through it.
"What about Debbie?" you blurt out, and Omni-Man stills, a red glove closed over the throbbing evidence of his anger.
"Don't talk about my wife!" he barks. “You’re not worthy.”
Your eyes return to his face, drawn to its savage rictus in wretched fascination. How long has Omni-Man—the husband, the father, the friend—been so twisted with this private hatred for you?
Interpreting the question from your fearful look, he answers, his hand still at work on his cock.
"I always knew you had an embarrassing crush on me. Following me around every event with puppy dog eyes, always asking if there was anything you could do for me. Degrading yourself at every turn. Laughable.
“And I ignored you. Debbie made jokes about you. Even then I knew you were just a fragile, weak-willed child, craving the adoration your father never gave you."
"Stop it,” you say, inching back across the bed on the heels of your palms. “Stop it!"
A hand traps your ankle, snatching you back under the colossus of your new enemy. His body is a cage of rigid musculature, even the smallest tendon able to kill.
"You brought this on yourself by defying me,” says Omni-Man. “Did you think I'd just walk away when you refused me information? Take pity on you?"
"Nolan—"
He cuts you off with a blow that near claims your sight in its ferocity.
"You whine like an infant. Why didn’t you ever grow up?”
You’re still attempting to process the pain across your eye socket as Omni-Man forces your legs apart around him, handling the joints with scornful disregard of their mortal delicacy.
“Where is Firebright?” asks Omni-Man again, and you can only shake your head, mumbling in a breathless stream of false denial.
“I don’t know, I don’t remember where she said she was going—”
Omni-Man’s lip curls in bald disbelief.
“Oh, sure. Well, let’s see how much you remember now.”
Your attacker opens you to him with rough, clothed fingers, tearing tight flesh ajar up to the knuckles, three of them deep. He draws them in and out of your hole like a blade across a whetstone, watching you flail and gibber beneath his merciless use with a stern and unflinching malice.
Then, as you scream Omni-Man’s name in abandoned repetition, he rallies his member to its furthest solidity and runs you through, all agony and annihilation, and you think as he does it that you may well die of his rage.
The floorboards moan with his rutting, its obscenity a crime of war. This is as much a degradation of Earth’s piteous race as a whole as of your person, your naked flesh symbolic of that which many alien societies covet to rule or else destroy.
That any human being has borne this and lived seems miraculous, yet you know it has been done and enjoyed for Debbie Grayson to stand by him. To love him.
You cry out, aware as you do so that you’ll only invite further pain.
“Really,” mocks Omni-Man. “I’m barely trying to hurt you. If I did, I'd rip you in half.”
In a jolt of violence he drags you up against a wall, the friction skimming a leaf of skin from your back as he stabs deeper in. Your breath comes in asthmatic chokes, punched from your chest by very force of his fucking.
Some wet stream warms your thigh, of what matter you don’t care to know.
“Give me the name of your mother’s location or I keep on going,” says Omni-Man. “You’re already bleeding. Your feeble body surely can’t take much more.”
His cock is a farrier’s tool, cutting with its every wrenching motion. Its length and girth alone would make you weep, but it is his wielding of it that is a thing of horror to you.
You feel Omni-Man’s hands shut about your wrists, testing the fragility of the bone.
“Aren’t you even going to fight me?” he taunts. “Go on. Show me what you’ve got in you, if anything at all.”
Closing your eyes, you try with all the force of strength and concentration in you to summon the flame you’ve long envied in your mother, and have never once achieved.
There is nothing, nothing, still, only an icicle of sweat down your brow.
Omni-Man laughs shortly, pulling you further up across the wall in another volley of thrusts.
“Just as I thought,” he comments. “Wasted genes.”
As he lets go of your arms you throw one of them forward in a weak strike across your attacker’s cheek. A mite star of fire bolts from your palm, and you yelp in both fear and surprise at the sight of it, at the thought of retribution to come.
Omni-Man rubs his face, which remains, as expected, quite unmarked.
“Is that it?” he asks. “You’re barely warm.”
“I’m not a superhero,” you cry out, as he returns to his mean handling of your body. “I’m just a human, okay? There’s nothing wrong with that.”
The blue eyes, once so lovely to you, roll in disgust.
“Of course there is. You could have been so much more. Take a look at yourself.”
Omni-Man flies you to your floor-length mirror, yanking your head back so that you might see yourself split apart on his atrocity.
How small you look, a flailing rag against the beast's taut muscle. His cock works in and out of you with the efficiency of some extra-terrestrial vehicle on a jaunt that will not end.
The sound of it is slick, explicit.
“You’re lucky that this is what I’m doing to you when I’m capable of so much worse," says Omni-Man, watching you arrogantly in your reflection.
“This is wrong,” you insist. “This isn’t you, Nolan.”
“I’m a Viltrumite,” snaps Omni-Man, and he flattens you to the bed again with a force that snaps the frame beneath it. “This is what my people are. You should be on your knees, thanking me for sparing your life.”
He turns you onto your belly, snarling as he stabs through your form from behind.
“This is the last time I’ll ask before I really injure you,” he says. “Where's Firebright?”
Only the lasting thought that you must save your mother from something more awful than this prevents you from delivering his answer.
Omni-Man grips you by the throat until your eyes stream and your pain barks from between your lips in a coughing spume of blood.
In frantic hope you turn one hand backwards, thinking to strap his hips in a band of fire.
“You think you can hurt me?” asks Omni-Man, squeezing your forearm until you sob and relent. “I don’t feel a thing. This is more humiliating than if you were entirely without powers. What use are you to your planet?”
“Nolan,” you croak. “I’m begging you to stop this.”
Somewhere in the catastrophe of sensation there is the start of pleasure, your body’s weary attempt to salve its bullied entrance. You lie quite stiff and still, praying that in doing so you won’t provoke that last ruination into being.
“You know how to end this,” says Omni-Man. “But perhaps this is what you prefer: to be shown your place by your superior. If I’d done this a year ago you would have presented yourself to me, ready and willing to be of use.”
To your despair his hand ventures to your tortured sex and makes full display of his knowledge. His strokes are coarse, efficient, in time to his cock’s quick barbarity. You smell cologne, and the fabric of his suit, and hair oil; your nose, your throat, is full of him.
Perhaps your soul will absorb his evil too, through osmosis.
Clenching your teeth across your tongue you steer back the piteous little whines his taunting abuse of your weakness brings.
“Part of you is still willing, I see,” Omni-Man comments. “Let’s see how long it can hold out against me.”
You cry, and hiss, and squeeze shut your fists until the stench of smoke greys the air between you. Still your orgasm is wrenched out on hand and cock like an eldritch birth, another plundered reward for his collection.
“Barely a minute,” jeers Omni-Man. “And all that mess. How humiliating.”
He ponders, hips grinding against yours with the approaching threat of his own end.
One of his fists arcs back your skull, forcing your tear-raw eyes to his again. What was handsome in him now seems only the frightful visage of a warlord, all pillage and pursuit of valour.
“I’m responsible for you finally developing your abilities,” says Omni-Man. “Why don’t you thank me for it?”
You stare up at him in terror and distress, your tongue swollen to near uselessness at the roof of your mouth. Omni-Man’s hand slams beneath your chin, pinching some nerve there until your vision blisters into an abomination of light.
Through blood-stringed teeth you answer.
“Thank you, Omni-Man.”
“You’re welcome, runt,” he leers, and with a gloved palm against your gut he flattens you to him, having you feel every pulse of his triumphant finish within you.
He holds you there for some time, your bare, bloody back staining the white of his suit and complimenting the red. You daren’t roll out from under him, remain, panting shallowly, adhered to your attacker by his spend.
His moustached lips scuff the back of your neck, more threatening than intimate.
“I’ll find Firebright,” he says, “whether you tell me where she is or not. But next time I drop by I expect you to be more talkative. Do you understand?”

You know it won’t end well. But when Angela and Nolan bet you $100 each that you wouldn’t do it, what were you supposed to do? Say no? Besides, if it works (and you’re terrified it will), you and Tim will have over $1,000 to split. You just have to break his heart first.
When Tim gets out of bed before the sun comes up, you’re already awake. It seems like forever as you lay in bed and wait for him to leave. But, while you’re alone in the house and preparing to pull off the biggest April Fool’s Day prank of your life, you miss him. Angela’s genius idea to prank Tim by pretending to leave him was never a good idea but as the betting pool grew in the Mid-Wilshire station, you let the money convince you. Your heart and Tim’s are on the line, and you can only hope he knows you well enough by now to see what you’re doing and play along.
Once all your belongings are hidden in the spare closet and every trace of you is gone from Tim’s house, you leave a note on Tim’s nightstand and leave. You intend on returning, as long as Tim will let you by the end of the day. It was Nolan and Lucy’s idea to send you to Lucy’s apartment at the end of shift, the proverbial “cherry on top” to convince Tim that your relationship is truly over. As you walk to your car, anxiety builds in you, and you consider backing out. It would cost money but save your sanity and your relationship. So, you only have one question: What would Tim do? The answer comes to you immediately: lie to the bet makers and win even if you lose. Now, you just have to figure out how.
Entering roll call is everything you expected it would be. There are countless eyes on you, and your lack of greeting is what Nolan needs to know you’re going through with it.
“Honestly, I didn’t think you’d do it,” he whispers from behind you. “No offense.”
“That is the least offensive thing you’ve ever said to me,” you answer quickly. “But just remember that you have to ride with me tomorrow, and anything that happens to me today is your fault.”
Nolan’s eyes widen before you turn in your seat. Breaking Tim’s heart will hurt, but yours is already fractured just from the idea. When Grey enters and gives assignments for the day, you hope that work will distract you for as long as possible. If Tim doesn’t find out until he gets off, you only have to lie to him and avoid him for a few hours before the day ends.
Wade says your name and the smile on his face concerns you. You take a deep breath before asking, “Yes, sir?”
“Bradford needs someone to ride with him today. Now, you can say no.”
You open your mouth to say no, but he raises a hand to stop you.
“Or,” Wade continues. “We can double the current pool if you say yes.”
“Double?” you repeat incredulously. “That’s-“
“Over three thousand dollars. At the moment.”
You stare at the board behind Wade before nodding. “Okay.”
The room erupts into cheers and yells, but you drop your head into your hands and ask yourself why you’re selling your heart for a few thousand dollars.
“Bradford’s waiting,” Wade says as the room silences again.
“I hate all of you,” you mumble as you exit.
“Yet you seem interested in our money!” Lucy calls behind you. “See you at home later!”
Tim is waiting by the war room, and he smiles when he sees you. You don’t return the smile, not because you’re mad at him, but because you’re worried about everything.
“Are you okay?” he asks as you approach him.
You nod, but Tim doesn’t move. “Can we go?” you ask.
Tim’s smile drops as he nods. You lead the way to the shop, and Tim’s eyes are on you the entire way. Once you’re in the car and all the cameras are on, you hope he’ll stop talking and leave everything alone, but you also know that won’t happen.
“Why are you out on patrol?” you ask.
“Looking for leads on a gun trafficking case. We’ve got a few buyers who either don’t know or won’t tell who’s running the operation,” Tim answers.
You hum and look out the windshield. The computer on the dashboard has a few possible suspects, and you keep an eye open for them. Los Angeles is big, so finding three low-level gun sellers (alleged gun sellers) won’t be particularly easy. The long day alone with Tim would be a reward any other day, but not today.
Lucy’s voice comes through the radio as she says your name. You reach for the channel to change it, but Tim’s brows furrow, and you stop.
“Are you sure about this?” Lucy asks. “I mean, of course, you’re welcome to stay with me, but maybe you should just talk to Tim.”
“About what?” Tim asks you.
“Nothing,” you answer quickly. It comes out short and harsh, and you decide to take your anger out on Lucy. “No personal lives on the radio, Chen,” you demand.
“I agree,” Wade adds. “But no one wants to see either of you hurt. You’re with Bradford all day, just talk to him.”
“I don’t have to because he can hear you,” you snap before switching the channel.
Tim drives a few blocks in silence. He glances over at you every time he has to stop.
“Are you going to ignore me all day?” Tim asks. “Because I can go back to the station and get someone else to come with me.”
“Your choice,” you reply.
“Okay,” Tim says. His hands grip the steering wheel tighter. “Are you staying with Lucy tonight?”
“I’m not talking about this right now, Sergeant Bradford. You are my superior and this doesn't seem appropriate,” you say.
Tim knows something is wrong; you won’t look at him, and your answers aren’t really answers. He pulls into an alley and switches off his body cam and the dash cam.
“Dispatch this is Bradford, switching radio off to approach the suspect. Will advise,” he radios.
“Copy, Bradford.”
Tim gestures toward your body cam, and you ask, “Why?”
He rolls his eyes and reaches across the console to pull the cam away from your chest. His hands are gentle on you, but he tosses the camera haphazardly onto the dash after switching it off.
“No cameras, no radios,” Tim says. “Now what is your problem?”
“Yeah, because I’m the one with a problem,” you reply, crossing your arms over your chest. “We’re supposed to be working, Tim. Drive.”
“Not until you tell me why you’re snapping at everyone. Being grumpy is kind of my thing.”
“Clearly,” you say with a chuckle.
“If you’re mad at me, just say it.”
“This is not the place or the time.”
“So, I’m just supposed to deal with this attitude all day?”
“I deal with yours.”
Tim rolls his eyes and leans back in his seat.
“I’m not staying with Lucy tonight. I’m staying with her until I can find my place, so you don’t have to deal with my attitude for much longer.”
Tim’s jaw unclenches as he looks at you. You’re looking down at your lap, but you can feel his eyes on you.
“What does that mean?” Tim asks quietly. His anger is gone; it disappeared when you said you weren’t going home with him... to him.
“I can’t keep doing this, Tim.” I can’t keep lying to you, is what you mean.
“Then don’t.” You shake your head, and Tim presses, “Don’t do this. Whatever happened, we can work through it, right?”
“Not right now.”
Tim falls silent and tears his eyes away from you. He can’t decide whether to be upset or angry, but he turns all of the cameras back on and shifts the car into reverse to back out of the alley. You snatch your body cam from the dash and put it back on, but you miss the feeling of Tim’s hands.
“If not now, when?” Tim asks as he stops at a red light.
“I don’t know,” you whisper. “Report.”
Tim glances over at you quickly, and when you move your fingers toward the radio, he realizes you’re talking to him as a cop, not as someone who loves him.
“Dispatch, I’m code 4,” he says quickly.
As you continue driving around Los Angeles, the minutes stretch into hours. Tim has stopped talking to you, and the radio has been quiet. Your fingers bounce against your thigh in rapid succession, and if something doesn’t happen soon, you may burst into tears and tell Tim everything.
“Bradford,” Angela radios, “switch to a private channel.”
He does, but when he pulls the radio to him, his movements make you flinch. “What?” he asks, his grumpiness returned in full.
“Are you alone?”
“No.”
“Okay, good.”
You hold your breath as you wait to hear what Angela will say next.
“We got a hit on one of your perps. Was seen near a cigar store somewhere off La Brea.”
“That’s not helpful, Lopez,” Tim snaps. “Anything else you can give me?”
“The Debonair Cigar Lounge,” you inform. “It’s on La Brea and there’s tons of reports of illegal back door sales. Nothing we’ve ever been able to prove.”
Tim nods and drops the radio.
“You seem in high spirits,” Lopez adds. “Your captain is waiting for your report.”
“10-4,” you radio.
✯✯✯✯✯
After a waste of time at the cigar lounge, you and Tim follow several more tips. The sun is going down and Tim’s shift is nearly over by the time you catch one that seems helpful.
“Don’t you need to get back to the station?” you ask. “We don’t have time to track this and for you to report to your captain.”
Tim ignores you and pulls into another alley. Why does LA have so many dirty alleys? And why are they Tim’s preferred argument location?
“You said it earlier, I’m your superior. If you’re not going to answer my questions, I’m not going to accept your advice,” Tim explains.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” you argue. “Me not wanting to talk about our relationship issues in the shop is not the same as reminding you that you have other duties.”
“Oh, now they’re relationship issues. That sounds like talking about them.”
You tip your head back against the seat and sigh. Something moves in the alley, and you lean forward to watch for it.
“Just tell me what is bothering you!” Tim says. You don’t answer, too interested in what is or isn’t moving in the shadows, but Tim takes it as you voluntarily ignoring him. “Fine, you don’t want to talk? I can wait.”
“Bradford, drive,” you say quickly.
“No.”
“Tim!” you yell.
The worry in your voice causes Tim to look forward, and the man you’ve spent the day looking for is standing in the middle of the alley and pointing a gun at you.
“Get down,” Tim demands.
You lean toward him over the console as he jerks the gear shift down. Before he can move, the man starts shooting. Tim leans over you as he backs out of the alley. While he gets you to safety, you radio for backup. The car slides to a graceless stop as a bullet takes out the front tire on your side.
“I’m going to Lucy’s because I can’t stay with you tonight,” you admit.
Your voice is raised over the continued gunfire, but Tim’s face is pressed beside yours as he drapes his body over you. His protectiveness is one of many things that you love about him, and as you prepare to tell him the truth, you’re more grateful for it than ever.
“You’re leaving me?” Tim asks.
“Tim, what day is it?” you ask.
A bullet breaks your window, and Tim pulls himself tighter against you as he raises his gun toward the opening. The man is nearing you, and Tim waits for him to get close enough before rising up so he’s visible.
“April Fools,” Tim answers as he fires a single shot.
He leaves you alone in the shop as he runs to the downed gunman. The bullet hit his leg, far from fatal, and Tim cuffs him before putting pressure on the wound.
“I can’t believe you just broke up with me while we were being shot at,” Tim yells angrily.
He winks at you quickly, a nearly invisible movement. His jaw remains clenched, though, and you can’t tell if he’s mad at you or the man who tried to kill you.
“Bradford!” Angela yells as she exits her car. “What happened?”
Tim pushes the man toward another Metro officer and turns away from you.
“Plenty,” he answers before walking away. “Give her a ride.”
You lick your lips as you watch Tim leave with Metro.
“You told him?” Angela asks. “How did that go?”
“He seems mad,” you answer.
“This may be better than expected. I’m taking you to Lucy’s.”
“But I need to-“
“Grey knows,” Angela interrupts. “Let’s go.”
✯✯✯✯✯
“Just sit down,” Lucy pleads. “Tim cares and he’ll talk to you eventually.”
“I told Tim that I was leaving him when all I wanted to do was tell him I love him,” you point out. “I’m not going to sit down.”
Lucy sighs and turns away. She had enjoyed the idea before this moment, but now that you and Tim are both understandably miserable, it isn’t as much fun.
“Incoming,” Tamara whispers dramatically as she opens the door.
“Where’s your stuff?” Tim demands as he steps inside.
“Not with me,” you answer honestly.
“Then let’s go.”
“Where?”
Tim fixes his eyes on yours. There’s a storm in them, and it’s a dangerous one. You decide not to fight him and instead walk toward him.
“Hey, you can talk here,” Lucy offers.
Tim doesn’t reply as he closes the door behind him. You walk wordlessly beside him as he takes you to his truck. Once you’re inside, he runs his fingers through his short hair before hitting his open palm against the steering wheel.
“I know you pointed out that it’s April Fool’s Day,” he begins. “But when I get home and all of your stuff is gone, it’s a little hard to believe it’s a joke.”
You glance at the clock and see that there’s still a little over an hour left until midnight. If you want the money, you can’t do anything until then.
“I put it somewhere,” you say quietly. “Until I knew for sure what I was going to do.”
“Are you going to give me a real answer?”
You look at the clock again, but this time Tim follows your movement. He sits back in his seat and turns on the radio.
“I’ll wait,” he offers.
“Why?” you ask. “After everything I did this morning?”
“Lots of words for it: love, stupidity, obsession. Take your pick.”
“April Fool’s Day was more fun last year,” you mutter.
Tim smiles as he remembers; you had tried to convince everyone in Mid-Wilshire that you and Tim hated one another and that any memory that had otherwise was a figment of their imagination. When you got home that night, Tim kept up the act until you threatened to take Kojo in the divorce, and then you got the attention you’d been missing all day.
As the clock inches closer to midnight, you lean back as well and simply sit beside Tim. Your phone rings and you sigh when you see Angela’s name.
“Hello?” you answer.
“Where are you?” she asks.
“Outside Lucy’s apartment.”
“Is Tim still with you?”
“Why would Tim be with me?”
Tim shakes his head beside you, and you remember when he told you about the bet with Lucy when she tried to set him up and failed. You met the next day and then Tim won the bet, he had said.
“Are you planning to call him at midnight?” she asks.
“Yes! I have been lying to him all day, Angela, of course I’m going to call and tell him.”
Angela sighs, but it sounds funny.
“What?”
“He blew up on his Metro team. There’s a chance he may not be able to forgive you, or… won’t want to.”
You glance over at Tim, and he cocks his head at your furrowed brows.
“So, he’s really mad,” you repeat softly. “And my apologies won’t be good enough.”
“I don’t know that for sure!” Angela soothes.
What actually works to make you feel better is Tim’s hand taking yours. The clock changes, and you hang up. 12:00 am, April 2.
“I’m so sorry,” you whisper.
The fear you’ve been pushing down all day appears as tears, and Tim cups your face to wipe them away.
“My stuff is in the guest room, but if you don’t want me to come back-“
Tim cuts you off with a kiss. He pulls you toward him as he leans over the console, but it’s uncomfortable, and he breaks the kiss quickly.
“Please tell me you won something for your success,” Tim says.
You smile and answer, “Nearly three and a half thousand dollars.”
Tim’s jaw drops as his hands drop to your shoulders.
“I was thinking we’d go see a Dodgers game, sit behind home plate. Or you can have it all since I did ruin your day.”
“Watching you get shot at ruined my day,” Tim corrects. “But as long as you go home with me, no harm, no foul.”
“I really am sorry. I do love you, and I’d never leave you like that.”
“I know,” Tim answers smugly. “I stopped by the house after you left, and Kojo led me straight to your stuff.
“You knew the whole time?!” you exclaim.
“I had an idea. Asked Grey to let me spend the day with you to see if I was right.”
“I felt terrible-“
“And you should have! Kojo and I will need lots of hugs and kisses to make up for the emotional distraught you put us through.”
You roll your eyes, and once you’re sandwiched between Tim and Kojo, they don’t seem to accept your apologies unless they’re punctuated with some type of physical affection. Tim also takes the opportunity to yell at everyone involved in the bet when he gets to work the following morning, but the promise of another night and a Dodgers game with you makes it worth it.

About Omniman and Debbie dating…
Spoilers
I headcanon that the reason why Debbie gave him a second date is because she had no idea he was an alien on the first.
Tumblr media
“Our first date was 20 years ago, Nolan.”
“Oh. Mostly I remember you dumping me right after.”
”Oh yeah, because you were a ****.”
Tumblr media
“Come on, I flew you to Rome!”
“Yeah, and you expected me to worship you because of it.”
So we hear the Viltrumite cover story when Nolan is explaining where he’s from to Mark. We can assume that Cecil and maybe the Guardians knew about Omniman being an alien, but we can’t say the same for the human public.
I’m sure the cover story was eventually spread around for the in-universe comics or whatever superhero interviews he had, but we don’t know exactly when that happened.
She said he only got another date when she saw him save kids on the news, but that could be an exaggeration. People that have been married for a long time tend to tease each other and say odd things, and I think that’s what she was doing.
Here’s what I think actually happened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nolan saved Debbie from getting crushed, and they struck up a long enough conversation to set up a date. At this point, she had no reason to think that he wasn’t a human superhero, because those and human supervillains are the majority on Earth. And Viltrumites look human.
But our guy here is from fascist Viltrum, and their culture and language centers around war, conquest, and power; they also had a mere 50 people left in their population from the plague, so repopulating was [and still is] top priority.
Nolan was way too impatient and trying to woo her using his instincts. … Which are to talk using the authoritarian soldier tone of his people, and prove himself a worthy mate by exhibiting his powers.
Debbie got the vibe that he was some narcissistic human superhero with red flags, so she decided one date was more than enough.
Our fella spent a few weeks trying to puzzle out why this tiny human female rejected him [the equivalent of a few days of deep thought]. At first, he was offended that something so weak was unimpressed by Viltrumite speed and strength. Eventually, he couldn’t stop feeling how attractive it was for something so helpless to be so feisty and courageous like a Viltrumite female. And also to be sweet and disarming when in a good mood, unlike the females of his race who were always seen with the same unapproachable and serious body language and speech no matter how happy they were.
[Not that he understood these feelings. He just understood the need to win this woman over.]
So one day Debbie opens her front door to Omniman in civilian clothes, standing like this:
Tumblr media
And the first thing bro says is
“I’m here to request a rematch.”
And so she’s like:
Tumblr media
“…You’re what?”
”A rematch… of that dinner. From before.”
Tumblr media
“You mean a second chance?”
She practically hears the dial up noises in this man’s head as he tries to puzzle out a response to that.
“I believe so. Yes.”
And that’s when something clicks in her head and she remembers that aliens exist, and that Omniman kind of showed up out of no where. That’s how she got the idea to ask him if he was human or not, and got a hushed admission that he’s from off-planet.
Tumblr media
At the baseball game she was frustrated but not that surprised that she needed to explain why the kid’s baseball game matters. I get the feeling that this isn’t the first time she had to explain a seemingly mundane Earth concept to Nolan.
But yeah, not knowing how messed up Viltrum actually is, Debbie gave Omniman a second date because she figured out he was an alien. And that meant there would be weird cultural differences, including how they try to date.
