i was on my way to just copy and paste his wikipedia, but actually i’ll just go full autism mode on Martin Blackwood as a first time watcher who finished s4 last week & is hyperfixating too much to continue(???)

martin blackwood is a major character from the magnus archives, who works as an archival assistant for the main character, jonathan sims. he’s very polite, but in ways, a pushover, often closing in on himself & making himself be the smallest in the room. he struggles a lot with connections & being respected by the others early on. he’s a bit of a sore thumb in the institute because (REDACTED).

i see people call him a people pleaser & in ways i guess that’s true but i’ve always said since a couple seasons into my watch that he is a Person Pleaser (maybe i’ll elaborate on this when i can do one of those huge citation info dumps). but like just trust me on this

he likes tea & he offers it to his favorite people. he likes to go get drinks with the girlies three times a week. one time he let a dog into the institute and it’s how he met his future husband. he has a devastating motif of loneliness & the feeling of being othered. his voice actor used to not like him. actually his voice actor uses him as a humorous shield from criticism by threatening to hurt him in the narrative if people get too bold. multiple times. for some reason whenever i listen to kate bush i think of him, so i turn her on when i want to roleplay as/with him. whenever i see fog in public now i think oh… my dearest…. have you returned to the world to see me?

actually i’ve been listening to the qnas & noticed a few people in the crew did not like martin at first & i? am developing a theory for why that is. i notice that most of the reasons aren’t even because he’s “annoying” or “a pushover,” but because he reminds them of a younger version of themselves they’d rather forget.

i’ve partially forgiven myself for the martin i used to be so i wonder if that’s why i clung onto him so quick. but i also think i am a bit of a martin currently. i’ve been beefing really bad with my sixty year old coworker who keeps hovering over me & listening to s4 was really funny because that’s literally how i talk in the workplace. i was parts of him then i am parts of him now he is just so beautiful for me

My thoughts as I watch season 6. No spoilers plz. I don’t read the manga either so none of those either. Started the show a week ago and binged it haha.

The new theme song is fire I love the comic book style!

Episode 1 thoughts - I’m hyped but Bakugo still irritates me like shut up. I can think of five different classmates that could take him out.

Epsiode 2 - holy fucking shit, am I gay now? Like bro Mirko is fucking wifey holy shit. New goal in life is to be built like her, I know what I wanna be for Halloween. Kamanari supremacy that scene was chefs kiss 💕💕

Episode 3 - Twice was always my favorite of the LOV, I’m fucking ugly cried. Did he just die. Did Hawks kill him??!! My fave killed my other fave I don’t know how to cope then my other fave may have been killed by Dabi wtf

Epsiodes 4 - Twice is dead 😭😭. Mirko I would do anything for that woman and let her do anything to me. Present Mic is more than just a pretty face who would’ve thought.

Episode 5 - ahh so that’s where the giant butt meme is from. Tokyomai damn ma. I hope every student gets there time to shine can’t wait. This was supposed to be my last epsiode of the night I’m fucking stressed. How are they supposed to fight his man if everything he touched turns to dust 😭😭😭😭 omfg now the giants awake too I can’t I’m going to bed.

Not to talk about the watcher thing again as I’ve already kind of said my piece, but one of the most batshit insane parts of this whole unbelievable situation is that for some reason they decided that for some fucking reason the BEST time to announce this highly controversial decision was literally DAYS before they would be going on an international tour and having to face irate fans IN PERSON. Guys. What the hell. At least have the sensibility to announce a move that you HAD to have known would make people upset AFTER one of the few times you actually interact in person with your fanbase.

I hope you’re ready to investigate the Tower of London for ghosts, because I have a feeling the Londoners will be more than happy to acquaint you with the building later this week.

i hate to say it, like i love watcher, but my thoughts on them leaving youtube is this is too much too soon, like the bulk of their fans are probs younger/unable to afford another subscription fee, plus youtube has always been where they've been?? it's just so stark to go from this being the site you put your content on for years and then to go full cold turkey, no more posting on youtube ever

and i'll be honest, they don't have enough content to warrant a separate site/subscription all together. dropout is able to pull it off because they have the full rotation of shows and cast as well (dnd, game changer, etc), whereas for watcher, they only have a few couple really successful shows and those are primarily only focused on ryan and shane.

and tbh, i don't think they have a big enough audience to launch it either, like their marketing team could do better on advertising their shows! like, i haven't been keeping up with their recent shows cause either i don't see it on my youtube algorithm at all or i have to go out of my way to go see it.

and i don't know this just feels like a kick to the face to their fans, like even dropout has shorts on youtube and keeps up all their content on youtube like some episodes and the entirety of season one of fantasy high, and now i'm seeing in the comments, that their international fans outside of the usa won't even able to subscribe cause of how payment works which is :///, so yeah, watcher, it's been nice knowing ya, but i don't know how this move will turn out for you, i'm sorry to say
