On the edge of a Miocene South American grassland, a group of Thoatherium is ambushed by a Phorusrhacos. They scatter, but the terror bird catches one of the litopterns, lifts it high up into the air, and SLAMS it down on the ground to kill it. Other nearby animals have mixed feelings about this situation. Tupinambis flees for its life, while Dryornis flies a little closer in case it can have a bit for itself. Hapalops and Astrapotherium are unbothered and have business of their own to take care of.

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Turkey vultures are the sharks of the sky; the have the largest olfactory system of any bird, and can smell a potential meal from over a mile away!

The distinct beauty of the old world vulture and the new world vulture. Lovely animals both of them. First pic is a Cape Griffon vulture I saw at an AZA facility and second is a Turkey vulture spotted in my neighborhood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A critical treatment consideration in old world vultures is their extreme sensitivity to the NSAID Diclofenac, which is associated with renal necrosis and high mortality rates. Studies suggest that old world vultures and new world vultures are not very closely related and instead represent an example of convergent evolution. This likely explains why Turkey vultures don’t typically suffer from the same sensitivity to the drug Diclofenac, which is fortunate because even just feeding from the carcass of an animal treated with the drug is enough to kill off cape griffon vultures in large numbers. As vets it’s extremely important to keep in mind where the medications that go into our patients may end up, and do our best to ensure potentially fatal drugs are not introduced into the food chain.

Roosterteeth wasted millions of dollars on Genlock. Wasted millions not on A-list voice actors like Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, but TOP HOLLYWOOD ACTORS who starred in critical acclaimed movies and TV series.
Burnie Burns, the former CEO, has made enough money to purchase a flipping Tesla, and move across to another flipping continent on the other side of the world.
Whatever financial hang ups are going on behind the scenes and stalling RWBY, it’s on Roosterteeth. Their dumb, utterly dim-witted, brainless, ignorant financial decisions finally caught up to them.
They do not deserve a Kickstarter and they absolutely don’t deserve this bullshit hashtag either.

BOTD: Black Vulture
Tumblr media
Photo: Judy Gallagher
"Abundant in the southeast, scarce in the southwest is this broad-winged scavenger. In low flight, it proceeds with several quick flaps followed by a flat-winged glide; when rising thermals provide good lift, it soars very high above the ground. Usually seen in flocks. Shorter wings and tail make it appear smaller than Turkey Vulture, but looks are deceptive: body size is about the same, and aggressive Black Vultures often drive Turkey Vultures away from food."

What are Mutabilis Demons?
Mutabilis demons, or shifters, are a race of shapeshifting demons that were originally a single devil named Mutabilis.
Mutabilis's core was found and shattered when they sided with the nephalem daughter of Truth and Lust named Shade, who tried to overthrow the gods and establish herself as the only god of New Earth. (She will be her own post)
The shattered pieces became the cores for new demons, making them the youngest race on New Earth (all the shifters that are main and secondary characters are the third and youngest generation).
They are untrusted, especially in the after realms, due to both their history with Shade when Mutabilis was whole and the fact that many have formed cults that worship the imprisoned nephalem. This leads to unfair discrimination, especially when it comes to them taking positions of power, where one can be seen as untrustworthy for even knowing a Shade worshipper regardless if they themselves take part.
Shifters come in many shapes, sizes, and forms. They are so diverse that there are only three defining traits for them
1) they will typically have at least one body part that is disconnected from the rest of their body, but still functions like an attached limb. This helps with energy preservation and management
2) they have a crystal-like core they can revert to if their body is greatly damaged or they lose too much energy. Shattering this core will kill the demon instantly
3) their blood can come in many colors and will float in a way similar to water when it's in space
They can combine to create stronger shifters, though this is not the way they reproduce nor is it related to how they reproduce, it's an ability that comes from the fact that they originated as a single being and therefore can become one with another. Many of the cults of Shade even believe that combining enough Shifters would make them whole again and revive Mutabilis in way.
There is little known about them since they are relatively new to the world, but biologists on new earth do their best to learn how these curious demons work

This drawing is probably the simplest one to explain. I fused the vulture from rainworld and the snagret from pikmin. It can fly and it swoops down to attack. It is controlled by parasitic pikmin and works with them.

Black vultures sleeping on the cellphone tower :)
Tumblr media
[ID: A cropped photo showing a cellphone tower made of white metal, with 20 black vultures perched on it, many of them sleeping with their heads resting on their wings. The vultures have black feathers and featherless dark grey faces, and are numbered 1-20, perched on various places on the tower. The sky is dark blue behind them, with light coming from the setting sun on the forward right side of the picture. End ID.]
the rest of the flock was sleeping in the pine trees nearby.
