The Intricacies of Vows
How difficult is it to be with a person whose will is iron clad?
Opinions that roll off of their tongue with total disregard as to whether or not you are happy or sad
Mad or Glad
Rain or shine
How hard is it to be with an individual with a spine?
We made promises to be together for better or worse
At times we’ve realized that we should have asked that they go into detail before we repeated that verse
Is it hard to love an ever evolving human who strives for perfection?
When she can’t stick the landing instantly she is eclipsed by depression?
For richer or poorer rolled off our tongues unconscious as to what that really meant
Had we known, would the money we paid for our marriage certificate had been spent?
Daily reminders that love isn’t JUST a four letter word
It’s an incredulous action verb
Monotonous routines that often lack luster
Performed with human inconsistency that will leave a person flustered
How happily ever after is your forever??
We traded our I’s for Us
Left the concepts of other lovers in the dust
As we embarked on this journey of love, friendship, and family
Merging homes, finances all in an attempt to create our own dynasty
Is it what you thought?
Sickness, health, and death don’t show up
I’m not ready to depart!
This dream is not deferred
Our eyes aren’t wide shut
I never ran from a challenge in my life!
Savagely we swing at all the odds
Trickery, life, she blind sides us
Leaving bruises
I offer no excuses
Tag teaming strategically until her will can’t help but bend
I am a warrior sworn to defend
I ask you my King
How hard is it to be with a person who never gives in?

NoooLaaa
Well, I did it. I left TC about 11 days ago and have been walking and talking the walks and talks of New Orleans. Well, not quite.
I've mostly been looking for a job and a home. Yes, ladettes and germs, I did something crazy. But, it was probably the most sane thing I've done in...well, the last three years.
At some point, I presume, if I'm moved to tell, I'll tell the adventures that I cross paths with in this place.
In this place...
I've been saying 'in this place' for so long now, that I don't even know how to say 'home'. For those of you close to me, you may know of the past 2.75 years. Betrayal, lies, deception, sabotage...and that's just from my former employers who had the nerve to call themselves my friend. Then there was the loss, the solitude and a fuck load of pain.
Through all of it, I did have a few by my side, reminding me of all I've done and all that has yet to be done. Their love and support was beautiful and amazing. But, my need to be released from 'that place' was so visceral, that it antagonized the small parts that made me smile.
So, I left. I packed three bags, and got a one way ticket to New Orleans. Still no home, not a person to greet me with hugs, not a paycheck coming to me. And yet, it seemed like the most logical thing one could do.
I did think of what I was saying 'see you later' to. The family I made there...oh how my heart aches for them this very moment. The people that sealed some wounded pieces of my heart. The people that stopped and took one look at me and said 'here...take my hand'. The people that had my back when it came down to what mattered most. You can't find that kind of love, cos it already existed before we breathed the same air.
Nothing has been resolved.
As the days persist, I fight the desperation that exists in my mind. I stand here challenging the universe, making bets with my ancestors, talking out loud to what I feel is only a void, gathering my thoughts, consuming my energy, the atmosphere rallying against my will...my hunger.
But I feel full...and I haven't even eaten yet. I walk and sit and stand with my back against the wall...making sure I don't miss what's coming. Like, I forgot to feel. How to feel, which is beyond my thought process. Feeling is all I do.
I've been plugging away at this for several days now, hoping that there's some absolution to the path that had laid before me. Maybe there will be.
I can tell you, so far, I've been having a great fucking time. I've met some amazing people. I've missed the southern hospitality. I've missed great food...variety of food. There's a lot I missed but let's not discount that there are and will be a lot I will continue to miss.
I have an awesome group of people in Michigan that I will take with me everywhere.
And weed...I'm certainly gonna miss Michigan's weed. That's some good shit.
Stay tuned...
