buddie is 911’s mcdanno. like the vibes are the exact same. they start out with a one sided grudge, one of them has a kid from a failed marriage that the other would die for, both have relationship problems with women, one of them has common sense and the other is a complete idiot but they’re actually both idiots if you look hard enough, one is always willing to jump head first into danger no matter how reckless it is, and they would absolutely die for each other.

I will forever be pissed that they gave kiryu an actual love story (the first and only time they actually gave him a proper love story instead of just confessing his love very quickly before the girl succumbs to her injuries) and then retconned his love interest out of the other games like WHY WPUDL YOU DO THAT.
#Yakuza HATEblog#like they motherfucking took her away from me#just because shes a cop ???? they didnt even bring her back for dead souls#like what difference would it have made if they replaced that lady soldier with sayama it would have been the exact same#especially the ‘ive handled guns for longer than you’ line where she fucking shot between her allies to hit the zombies like first of all if#you truly knew about gun safety you wouldnt have done that but what do i know maybe thats just how military dogs are#yeah ehats the difference between a pig and a dog they can both be your best friend#ryuji met his little sister once before she completely dissapleared forever#like what the FUCKKKKKKK BRING HER BACK#SHES THE ONLY WOMAN THAT KIRYU HAS EVER LOVED SHES MY ONLY EVIDENCE FOR BISEXUAL KIRYU PLEASE ....#kiryus like dont call me gay boy call me bisexual boy so that ladies know to hit on me#kiryu doesnt even realise that he himself is bisexual because he keeps falling for men and having sex with girls like sayama is the first#girl hes ever fallen in love with and they took away his gf like they took away pacmans wife fml fuck everything#idc if he actually lover yumi or not but he loved sayama and they just made us forget about her because she wasnt real#she was real to me. they were real to me. but then again i am a real poser#because if people actually cared about kiryu and sayama rhen i wouldnt have to defend her with my life#its only because people hate her that im saying anything

THE Captain Bonnet suit is, of course, the light turquoise one from the first and ninth episodes, the one most fanart depicts him in.
Tumblr media
This is wildly different from what he wore in his old life! The color is vivid - colorS, actually, because the waistcoat is slightly different in both iterations - and the coat and breeches are made of very shiny satin. The coat is also dripping with braid, and actually has shaping to accentuate his waist and flare out into skirts. Each end of his cravat has two lacy ruffles, and they are not hidden at all. He's still wearing the secondary tie, but it's much thinner than the others, hardly covering the main cravat. There are rosettes on his shoulders, like military epaulettes but more delicate. And the shoes, of course, have adorable white bows rather than buckles.
The other outfits Stede wears as a pirate have lots of similarities. Very bright colors, contrasting in the same outfit. The lacy cravats, frequently without a colored necktie on top (especially after he gives the black one to Ed). Closer fits. Velvets and satins. Embroidery. The all-white "man for sale" outfit!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's tricky to situate these costumes with regard to normative English masculinity of the period. Duller colors go all the way up the social spectrum ca. 1717, but satins and velvets and embroidered waistcoats were very much a part of elite men's fashion; at the same time, the idea of the proper English gentleman went along with plainer things - see the example portraits from the last post. There were a number of effeminate male stereotypes in the 18th century, even before the macaronis of the 1770s, usually incorporating a supposed feminine interest in fashion and an affected way of speaking and acting not unlike more modern stereotypes; it wasn't unusual for them to be referred to as "neuter" and assumed to be either (what we would now call) asexual or homosexual. In that sense, the issue is less exactly what Stede would wear, and more that he clearly cares a lot about it, amassing a large wardrobe and being exacting in having it made up a certain way.
Within the context of the show and the way other gentlemen dress in it (not counting the party aristocrats because they're basically clowns, but Stede's father and the men in Bridgetown), Stede's pirate style is definitely not normative. It's queer. It's not just Stede bringing his aristocratic/gentry style to sea and reveling in his class privilege, it's him taking up a style that he is not allowed to wear as a supposedly heterosexual patriarch. It's even in his nightclothes - the nightshirts he wears on the Revenge have ruffles and lace, and the ones at home range from "basically just a shirt" (1x10) to "well, there's a tiny bit of embroidery" (1x04 flashbacks).
There is one outfit - well, technically three - that does something really subtle with this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stede apparently owns three fairly similar coats trimmed with gold braid and two matching waistcoats, one on sea and two on land. The one he wears in 1x05 is made of a damask (you can see the pattern woven into the fabric if you look at it full-size) and uses two different types of braid; he also wears it with a prominently knotted cravat that ends in a van dycked lace, which matches the lace on his cuffs. The 1x10 suits, on the other hand, are wool broadcloth (or something approximating it). The collarless one, which is bluer onscreen, has gold trim without as much of a pattern, and the trim on the one with a black collar is actually black with gold details.
Crucially, in 1x10, his cravat is tucked completely into his waistcoat to hide any potential lace on the ends, and his sleeves have plain or barely trimmed ruffles. He's squeezing himself back into the straight mold society requires, but at the same time ... this is a more exuberant look than his flashback outfits. The only teal he wore in them was in the family portrait, and that coat was totally unfitted and had no trim. He's fundamentally changed, both from getting to be himself on the Revenge and from the kiss on the beach - that's good and bad, encompassing both his realization of his own queerness and, you know, the whole "unhand me or bleed" thing. Instead of burying himself in books and quietly crying by himself, he's now doing things like getting drunk and confidently making scenes in public. "I don't fit here anymore, do I?" he asks Mary when they have that nighttime conversation.
I definitely get where people are coming from when they portray him as more rugged, and I'd be surprised if s2 had him acquire a full wardrobe again immediately, unless it picks up after some time's gone by. a) This show isn't overly concerned with realism, but I mean he did just arrive at the island in a dinghy with absolutely nothing and b) we do need the symbolism of him starting over. But be careful of interpreting his clothes as just a representation/extension of his class, as @appleteeth pointed out here. The way Stede dresses throughout most of s1 is very much part of his self-expression.

Some Sunny Day
Summary: We all know Captain Price and how he is described to be a crotchety soldier who has been through a lot. So what would the loss of someone special to him effect him Side Note- This occurs before Task Force 141 is formed and when Price was a lieutenant. Warning: Angst
Tumblr media
Females, She/Her She/They DNI Being in the Military is a job that will cause pain, loss, camaraderie, and friendships that may at some point be broken. Price is a well versed man in this category, having been in the Military for 18 years of his life. He has watched many of his brothers and sister fall on the field, and it melded him into the man he is now. During his upbringing, there was one person that had been strong enough, one person that he had known when he first enlisted in the Military. C/n, also known as M/n L/n, had joined the Military around the same time period of Price. They've grown a lot from the time they had first joined, and they've been by each others side for years. Through high and low they comforted, defended, supported, and overall cared for one another.
When they were given time off, they would use that time off to find solace in one another's presence. Price would read a book, enjoying the peace and quiet of the room while M/n would lean his head on his shoulder, either falling asleep or reading the book along with Price. They would also have a specific time, 8:37 p.m exact, to be able to enjoy a cup of tea together at the end of a long day. The way his h/c hair framed his face was something that never failed to captivate Price, and the way he never failed to lighten the mood also drawn Price to him. The two men, when on leave from the base, usually go to the beach or just stay at a hotel for more...private time.
When on the field, Price would be keeping a lookout for any dangers that could potentially harm his comrades, and especially M/n. Even when knowing M/n was a tough cookie and could handle himself he never failed to call out for him on the radios, just to ensure he was alright. Even when the s/c skinned male got injured, he always smiled through the pain, as a way to give reassurance that he'd be fine. Their relationship was something that a lot of people would dream of having.
Although
Nothing can truly last forever
//////
It was chaos, the smell of smoke and the sound of gunfire was the only thing that filled M/n's senses as he hid behind a low wall. He was in the main building that The mission went terribly wrong, leading to buildings being destroyed, soldiers on both sides being KIA, and smoke making it hard to breath. M/n had been injured, badly, due to the fact that he was in the middle of the crossfire.
He sustained 2 gunshot wounds, one being in the leg and the other being in his side. He reloaded his sniper rifle and fired it again, despite the nasty feeling of his own blood oozing from his side, making him feel dizzy. He could hear the sound of Price's voice cutting through on the comms system, but due too all the noise going on around him plus the feeling of slowly drifting away didn't help. His grip on his weapon faltered as his body began to give into the exhaustion and pain.
//////
Price could be heard barking orders, his comrades all retreating and about to depart from the field when he realized. M/n was still in the collapsing building, so in a rush he began to yell into his radio, calling for his fellow soldier, his friend....., his lover....He could hear the sound of static coming through on his radio, an ounce of hope filling him.
He moved so quick on his feet, knowing he was short on time to find M/n and get out of the area safely. There was fire, the crackles drowning out the sound of enemy soldiers footsteps as he stumbled into a room.
There he was, laying lifeless on the ground. Price had has his fair share of times when his blood went cold, but this was on another level. He took one, then two, three steps before dropping to his knees and frantically cradling M/n's body. He felt for a pulse, and there was one.....a very weak one.
"Come on sergeant we're getting outta here!" Price ordered, his tone serious and seemingly unaffected but his expression said otherwise. He began to pick M/n up but the sound the e/c eyed male let out made his heart ache, the other man was in pain and that was clear. He gently set him down again, thoughts racing as he tried to think of how he could get M/n out safely. The sound of an pained cry alerted the remaining enemy soldiers, making them go in the direction where M/n and Price were. M/n, in his barely conscious state was able to hear the footsteps, and used whatever strength he had left to push himself up against some crates behind him.
"P-price...you need to go.." M/n said, looking at Price who had a look of perseverance on his face. He knelt down next to M/n, cupping his face.
"I'm not leaving you muppet, we're gettin' out of this to-" Price was cut off, M/n's voice cutting through his words
"No....no, there's not enough time." M/n croaked, undoing his dog-tag and holding it out for Price to take, a smile on his face as blood came from his mouth. "You need to go, love, go..."
Price stared at M/n's weakened form, the chains of his dog tag dangling from the openings of his fingers, the smile he was giving. His heart was breaking, his breathing becoming labored as he shakily took M/n's hand, taking his dog-tag, and holding the males hand tight. He didn't want to let go, not yet, not ever, but it seems that the world was against him like every other time. He slowly brought M/n hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss upon it before resting the males hand down gently, watching as his breathing began to slow.
He couldn't watch, and as the enemy began to approach Price ran for it, didn't look back despite how much it hurt not too. He gripped the dog tag, regrouping with the remainder team. Inside the truck, Price kept his gaze to the floor, gently tracing the writing graved into M/n's dog tag. He stayed silent, not saying a word.
//////(Present day)//////
Price was in his office, looking through files, signing paperwork, overall doing his usual duties as captain. He was tired, still carrying a lot of hurt and guilt on his shoulders after all that.s happen during his upbringing in the military. Though there was one thing that kept him going, that made him not give up.
After finishing up his work, Price got up to make a cup of tea. He boiled some water in a kettle, grabbed his favorite tea, and tea-cup. He then poured the hot water into the cup, unwrapping and placing the tea bag inside. He watched the tea leaves stain the water a cool brown color, before adding some lemon and a tad bit of sugar. He brought the cup to his lips, sipping the drink slowly, savoring the taste and smell. Small things like this never failed to bring back memories, which caused him to sigh, a brief chuckle leaving his lips as his hand went to grip M/n's dog tag. He pulled it out of his shirt, eyes softening as he gently traced the letters of M/n's name. Gaz and Soap were always nosy, pestering Price about why he has two dog-tags ever since he first got seen with it. He wouldn't get specific, but he would say it belonged to someone very..very special to him. He wore it for comfort, for reassurance, for hope. Hope that some day, he and his true love would finally meet again, some sunny day....

Please stop engaging with photos of the tannies in the military that don't come from the boys or bighit, bighit asked us the same thing. We repeatedly said that they would exploit the tannie's image as much as they could. we repeatedly said that the military app platforms should be used only by the boy's families.
anon … i’m going to need you to take a seat.
there are so many things about this ask that are both loud and wrong but in the interest of time, i’m going to hit the low points.
1. HYBE/Big Hit has never asked for fans to abstain from sharing military photos. it actually goes against their vested interest to do so. they have had to take 3 insanely famous worldwide superstars off the market for 2 years. military photos keep them in the public eye and make their fans happy.
2. members of BTS (or as you referred to them, “the boys” and “the tannies”) are actually grown men. you’re well within your rights to infantilize grown men in your own space on your own time, but that’s not how we do business here. if hobi or any other member took issue with the circulation of these photos, he would say so. either on his own social media or through weverse or through an official HYBE/Big Hit press release.
3. concerning photos on the military app: is it “exploitation” as you claim or is it a service for the “boy’s families” as you also claim? because it can’t be both. that app, that tradition existed long before BTS enlisted and will exist long after. is the korean government selling access to these photos? no. are they using them in marketing campaigns? also no.
beyond that, if for any reason the korean military took issue with the dissemination of these photos, trust and believe they’d put a stop to it. if they can figure out how to shoot an intercontinental ballistic missile out of the sky, they can figure out how to keep pictures of seokjin with his men off the internet.
4. no matter what “we repeatedly” said, it is not your place or anyone else’s place to police how people participate in this fandom. this is the exact kind of high-handed hall monitor nonsense that gives this fandom a bad name. what you are not going to do is come here and tell me and many other fans that we’re somehow disrespecting our faves by enjoying and sharing publicly available content. this is not sasaeng material, it does not jeopardize any member’s privacy and/or safety.
if you don’t want to engage with this kind of content, then don’t. keep it pushing.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but could you tell us more about Åland? 😅 What even is it? Is it a country, a state/province, or something else? (sorry, I have never heard of it before joining the Hetalia fandom)
I love your art, and I would love to see more of your OCs in the future!😊
Hello, anon! Don't worry, that's not a stupid question at all! I'm willing to bet most people are in the same situation as you, so I'd love to help out.
Tumblr media
Åland Islands are an autonomous and demilitarised region of Finland. This self-governing region is made up of over 6,700 islands; only of which 65 are inhabited.  In addition, there are around 20,000 smaller islands and skerries! The biggest island on the archipelago, and where 90% of the population lives, is Fasta Åland; which is only 45 km long and 55 km wide. The Åland Islands are connected to mainland Finland via the Finnish archipelago and its island clusters. But Åland's easternmost point is only 40 km away from mainland Sweden. The capital, Mariehamn, is located at an almost exact midpoint between Turku and Stockholm.
Up until the 19th century, roads were sparse, in bad shape, and thus practically useless in Nordic countries. The fastest way to transport resources, people, and information was by waterways. Thus, Åland acted as a vital connection between Sweden and Finland, especially when those two countries used to be one massive kingdom. Over the centuries, the islands developed a unique identity, shaped by the isolating harsh nature and influences from both the West and East.
Even though Åland is part of Finland, its only officially recognized language is Swedish. Since 1921, The Åland islands have had special privileges provided by the hembygdsrätt, which roughly translates to "home regional right." Simply put, a person is required to obtain this right before it's possible for them to own property on the island, vote in the local elections, or run a business - having Finnish citizenship is not enough. These rights were created to protect Ålandic identity during a time when Sweden and Finland fought over who the islands should belong to.
To be granted hembygdsrätt, certain conditions must be met; you must have Finnish citizenship, have satisfactory Swedish language skills, be registered in the Åland islands, and have lived in Åland for at least 5 years. Alternatively, if one of the parents has this right, it is also inherited by their child. However, you can also lose hembygdsrätt if you lose Finnish citizenship or live outside of Åland for more than 5 years.
Due to its location in the middle of the Baltic Sea, Åland has always been critical, and powers in the area have wanted to control it; it has been occupied by Swedes, Finns, Danes, Germans, Russians, French, and the English. This geopolitical importance is a reason why the islands have been demilitarized since the 1850s after the events of the Crimean War. Also, while Finland is a military conscription country, Ålandic men (with hembygdsrätt) are exempted from this duty.
Åland is not a sovereign country, but it has self-governing rights and its own government. Åland joined the Nordic Council in 1970 and has two representatives in it. Åland also held a separate referendum, and in 1995, it joined the EU at the same time with Sweden and Finland. Åland has a special status in the European Union, as it's considered a "third territory," meaning it's not part of the EU's value-added tax (VAT) or excise duty area.
Ålanders have a strong and separate national identity, even though they have a Finnish passport and speak Swedish as their native language. However, the separatist movement barely exists nowadays, and Ålanders generally don't see a reason to change the status quo. All the granted special laws and privileges by Finnish and international law are perhaps more helpful and prospering to this tiny island than seeking full independence.
As of December 2019, in a survey conducted by Åland Gallup, 78% of island residents supported Åland continuing to be a self-governing region of Finland. It has been a trend in gallups for decades at this point. Being part of Sweden was the least popular option, only getting 4% support, and becoming a fully integrated part of Finland got 5% of the support. 9% of respondents would support the full independence of Åland. In a survey by the Statistics and Research Institute of Åland (ÅSUB, 2008), 90% of the respondents stated that they were Ålandic and 60% felt that they were "completely Ålandic." On the other hand, only a quarter of the respondents considered themselves "completely Finnish," and one-fifth considered themselves "Swedish at some level." The option "European" was more popular than "Finnish," "Swedish," or "Finnish-Swedish". In the ÅSUB 2018 survey, most responders also felt a higher sense of belonging to "Nordic countries" than they did to "Finland" or "Sweden." Another interesting statistic: In Åland Gallup's May 2019 survey, 80.4% of Åland's residents said they would support Finland, and 19.6% said they'd support Sweden if Finland and Sweden were facing each other in an ice hockey match.
I could go on about the Ålandic history and what makes its identity unique, but let this be a quick introduction to this place! Feel free to ask more if you're interested. I could have simply answered it's not a country, but I think that would leave out a lot of important context. Maybe this also explains why I think Åland should have a separate personification from Finland. I hope this helps even a little bit!

Loved Graves locker room pep-talk to the shadows in the mw3 trailer, I feel like the 141 would witness one of these and tease the shadows and Graves😂
Yes. Very much so
Graves offered the 141 use of one of their bases to use as an apology for what happened in the past. Secretly, Phillip was trying to get a certain Captain John Price to pay attention to him. No luck yet, but he could hope.
That morning before a mission, he was giving his Shadows a normal pep-talk. They all seemed to like it, complaining the one time he didn't do one. He gave them all a smile. It was lopsided thanks to the scar on his cheek and then they immediately said "Yup, yup!"
Gaz was staring at them, wide eyed. "Do you guys... do that often?"
Alpha 2-4 Edward, one of the newest members of his team, frowned. "Does Price not do that for you?"
"No?? Is this an American thing?"
Graves glared at him. "As their commander, I do what I can to prepare them for upcoming in missions."
Gaz nodded and slowly backed away, commenting about cult like behavior.
Graves set his jaw and sent his men out. He was now substantially more irritated than before but he wanted his Shadows mission ready. So many Shadows had died thanks to those goddamn Russians recently and even though he had made amends with the Vaqueros, that didn't undo the deaths on both sides. His numbers were low and... well...
He didn't think his heart could handle it well. He had started to refer to them by their number, as awful as it was, in some way to keep himself from getting too attached. At least until everyone was well trained and not at risk of dying.
Alpha 1-3 Charlie came back with a broken ankle, somehow, but luckily no other injuries. Graves had her arm slung over his shoulder, helping her walk. He put her into one of the med bay beds and smiled at her.
"Hey, chin up, kiddo. You did great out there."
"I broke my ankle."
"Yeah, but you did jumping on a moving helicopter! I thought we might have to circle around or have you rendezvous elsewhere!"
Charlie paused. "You wouldn't have left me behind?"
"Absolutely not." Graves smiled. "Not leaving anyone behind, yeah?"
"Yup-yup!" Charlie smiled at him.
"Exactly! We're soldiers. We get up, get shit done and then ship out again, right?"
"Right!" She smiled brightly.
Soap frowned at them. He stayed silent until Graves stepped out in the hallway. "What's with the yup-yup thing?"
"It's common in the military here in the states." Graves glared already. "She's also hurt and I was trying to comfort her."
"Yeah, yeah." Soap looked at him strangely.
"Out with it."
"You just... seem to care an awful lot about them."
"Price jokingly calls you guys his kids."
"Yeah, I know. Just... you guys are all so close. There's a ton of you. Like twelve."
Graves shook his head. "I just... Want what's best for my soldiers."
"Right. Of course. You're a good commander."
Soap still teased him about the yup-yup thing for weeks.
Ghost never said anything, but anytime he happened to be nearby when Graves started his little speeches, he'd stick around and stare. Graves was used to staying on task, but it did get a little unnerving.
Just a little.
Right as he was finishing a thing about loyalty and how they'd all pull through, Price came in. He was drinking the tea they had started keeping on hand. His deep blue eyes stared into Graves with the exact same intensity as Ghost's and he was starting to wonder if it was a British trait.
"They... enjoy your speeches?" He asked when they wrapped up.
Graves shrugged. "Seemed to, yeah. Why?"
"Tried doing that to the 141 once and failed miserably. Pep talks and all that. Don't think they're the type that benefits from them."
"Doesn't seem like it, but you have good control on them without it."
Price smiled and sipped his tea. "Thanks. Mostly had to beat it into them."
Graves chuckled. "Had a few soldiers like that. Sometimes, beating is necessary."
"You seem pretty talented with just your words. I can see how you founded your company. Very charming."
Graves blushed. "Thank you, sir. I can see how you became a Captain."

More headcanons! yahoo! (specifically icemav)
1. Ice drinks both coffee and tea, but actually prefers tea. He forced himself to drink coffee for the caffeine to help him stay awake and alert, so now he likes it because of how often he drinks it. (i don’t know that much about the military but i don’t know how many staff rooms are gonna have kettles next to their coffee machines and if military men are gonna openly admit to drinking tea lol)
2. I think a woman in his life, either his mom or grandmother, used to make him a cup of tea every night and it was a part of his nightly ritual. Whenever he gets the chance he tries to keep up that tradition and make himself a cup of tea whenever navy life allows.
3. Maybe I’m biased but i think Ice would drink any tea (as long as it’s good quality) but i think he would slightly prefer black teas. His mom or grandmother would always put honey and milk in it and he tended to drink green teas when he was sick so he associates them with an upset stomach, stuffy nose or a sleepless night. (or this could just be projecting onto fictional characters)
2. Mav on the other hand always hated tea. like hated it and he only ever drinks coffee. He never understood the appeal of it, if it’s not that caffeinated then what’s the point? And I think he probably only had tea like... made in the microwave, where someone puts the milk in first. No wonder he hates tea.
4. Mav hates tea until Ice makes him tea one night and makes him tea the right way. With an actual kettle and the milk added after the water and tea bags. And at first, Mav feels too bad to tell Ice the truth and say that he hates tea after he went through all the trouble to make him a cup. But Ice’s tea rocks Maverick’s world. he finishes the whole cup. Ice makes him a classic cup of english breakfast or earl grey with a little bit of honey and a dash of milk.
5. Mav will only drink tea when Ice makes it. It doesn’t matter if someone makes Mav the exact same brand of tea, with the same type of honey and milk, Mav only likes Ice’s tea.
6. I think after the DADT repeal it allowed them to actually finalize and re-establish the tradition that Ice’s family started. Ice makes them both a cup of tea each night while Mav puts on a record.
7. I feel it deep in my soul that Mav’s mom loved country music, like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton etc etc. Mav would never tell anyone willingly that he knows all the words to Stand By Your Man or the entirety of Dolly Parton’s album Just Because I’m a Woman. (he definitely thinks he should not be listening to them cuz its not “manly” or something)
8. But after the DADT repeal those are the records and artists Mav puts on as Ice makes the tea, just like Mav’s mom used to do when his dad was around. Mav used to watch his parents slow dance and sing along to Crazy by Patsy Cline. He just wants to share the thing his family used to do, just like Ice is doing as he makes them tea, regardless of how “unmanly” it may seem to himself and other men.
god im sick of these old men in love, they’re so stupid and controlled by gender stereotypes and expectations forced upon them. “Maverick is a rebel” my ass, bro can’t even listen to Dolly Parton without feeling guilty and ashamed. im SICK of them.

ATLA isn't that great at showing the reality of war and you are ready for this conversation.
You can call me biased for this post, but whatever. I've been silent for too long.
It's certainly better than a lot of other shows, but fans often overestimate how good it actually is. It's excellent at showing more simple things like people getting hurt and traumatized because of war, but when it gets to more complicated things it's not that good.
In the show we got two people opposing to the fire nation. TWO. (Technically more because Jet wasn't alone, but you get what I'm saying). And they're BOTH antagonists. It's great to show that anger can blind you, but couldn't they make at least one character who wasn't somehow affiliated with Gaang who was against Fire nation and was in positive light? It kinda sucks. Also it doesn't make sense that Hama could actually attack military men and she just didn't. Why? She could attack civilians AND military and it could have been much better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we get an entire arc to show that fire citizens aren't that bad, they're also people and they're also victims, blah, blah, blah... And the idea isn't entirely bad, but it was shown like they're just all innocent and can't affect what's happening in their kingdom? If the show authors wanted to show something positive about Fire citizens wouldn't it be better to show that there are some opposition to Fire Lord or something? But no, we get episodes about how the citizens are prohibited to show their true selfs because they can't breakdance and we get propaganda mentioned a little. Obviously it's a kids show and demanding to show 100% how war works is dumb, obviously the writers have to tone it down a little, but it still kinda sucked. This is actually why it's my least favourite season. Like, it looked like literally no one in Fire nation was against war? The opposition wasn't mentioned even in the comics? HUNDRED YEARS war and Fire citizens didn't even try to do anything? This fire school arc just made me despise Fire nation more because it looks like they just don't give a damn. (Don't start on "they're being brainwashed by propaganda". If propaganda is enough to convince you that killing is good than you were never good in the first place).

Jet was portraied extremely weird in Ba Ding Se too. Like... Fire nation is occupying Earth nation, killing and abusing civilians. Jet sees two fire benders in the most secured city. One of them was a war general who actually had this exact city under six hundred days siege. OBVIOUSLY he would try to arrest them. Who wouldn't? Who knows what they're doing there? Why would he believe that they don't want to do anything malicious? But show portraits it like some sort of obsession. Like he was crazy and in the wrong, like "they're not hurting anybody and he's nagging them and wants them arrested for no reason". Jet was being completely logical.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of the show Iroh keeps his tea shop in Ba Sing Se??? What??? The same city he had under siege? And he names it "Jasmine dragon". DRAGON. The literal symbol of Fire nation. HUNDRED YEAR war just ended, I refuse to believe that citizens were completely fine with it.
Tumblr media
And in "Legend of Korra" we find out that Fire nation still has an army? It got much smaller, but still it was pretty powerful? After hunder year war? How? WHY?
Tumblr media
It's also extremely weird that in LOK they explored goddamn ANARCHISM, but not how Fire nation is treated after the war? It looked like nobody even remembers it. It was mentioned like three times in the series.
Tumblr media
Also I read the comics and the creation of Republic city was weird af. Kuvira was terrible, but she was right at one thing: Republic city belongs to Earth kingdom. There was a lot of resistance. In comics this colony was still full of Earth civilians and culture. It wasn't completely mixed. And the argument to not returning the colony to Earth kingdom was literally "we've been colonizing this territory for so long that it can't be yours anymore" wich is dumb. It becomes even dumber when you remember it wasn't the only colony like that. It was mentioned that it was ONE OF THE OLDEST colonies. Which means there were colonies where fire culture was even more integrated. Then why weren't those colonies also turned into "something completely new"? And the resistance stopping resisting was really weird. They were extremely enthusiastic and determined and then just stopped because the Avatar came and told them "protect people, not borders"???
Tumblr media
In conclusion: "Avatar" has a lot of flaws which are caused by "love everyone" mindset, wich isn't bad at it's core, but sometimes you gotta hate. And some flaws are caused by writers' inability to understand war and what comes after. The series are amazing, and comics too, but people tend too overlook a lot of mistakes.
Thanks for reading
(no one's reading allat💀)
Also if you disagree, it's completely fine, just know that I will not argue about it. It's my opinion that I thought about for a very long time and I will not change it.

I'm glad your blog exists. It's refreshing to see someone unafraid to do some critical thinking on why and how this gender stuff is the way it is without it also coming from a misogynist. Strange how the wrongthink curmudgeonly old TERFs we should totally beat the shit out of have more sense than the people who make them out to be the biggest threat even when faced with leaders who wish death on everyone involved. Of course, you and I don't hold the exact same opinions, but I have a feeling that not sharing a hive mind is more accepted in your circles. You folks really aren't as bad as I've been led to believe. Take care.
sorry for taking so long to reply to this but thank you very much I'm really happy to have changed your perception of the Evil Terfs a bit lol. i definitely am in support of people forming their own opinions on every issue rather than blindly falling into groupthink. this isn't the borg. I mean I'm a gun slinging environmentalist anti capitalist anti organized religion pro spirituality gender critical feminist who genuinely believes aliens are visiting us & the government knows but is hiding it. I want to legalize all drugs, give free guns to every woman, imprison johns, massacre pimps & pornographers & rapists & pedophiles & wife beaters/killers, provide free housing, healthcare, food, etc for all, demolish giant corporations, ban people from profiting on overseas slave labor, restructure the entire penal system, defund the military, abolish the current tax system, and ideally establish a legitimate matriarchy eventually bc men having power has brought nothing but ruin on humanity & the planet.
so like. needless to say not many people agree with me on every single one of those issues loI, I just go with what makes sense to me without trying to fall into party lines in my country bc I truly fucking hate both republicans & democrats & politicians in general. they're literally just different flavors of the same war mongering money grubbing authoritarian corrupt capitalist liars.

In a redeemed recoms au! you can't tell me that Lo'ak and Spider don't constantly rope Lyle into their shit.
NO FR THEY WOULDDDDDD
Lyle is the fun beer uncle and no one can change my mind so upon figuring it out, Lo’ak and Spider drag him into their dumbass duo and they become a trio 💅 Lyle tried hard not to show his dumbassery but lets loose eventually.
Jake makes the mistake of assuming that being around an adult will make the boys behave better but effect is the exact opposite. Having a grown Na’vi with military training just means they can do crazier stuff and put themselves in more danger because why not? Uncle Lyle will solve whatever problem they found themselves in 🥰 be it hiding from an RDA scout group or getting chased by an Akula, Wainfleet has it covered 😎( He doesn’t, he’s actually just a big doormat for these two since they talk big game about how cool he is all the time so he comes along on whatever goofy adventure they got going on lol)
Though I also believe that he won’t hesitate to step up and be tough when he really has to. Lo’ak and Spider are both teens who desperately want to prove themselves and how useful they can be to the community, so they’ll often disregard their lives by throwing themselves into danger.
“Now tell me, what in the ever-loving fuck would you be doing if I wasn’t there? Hm?”
Lo’ak and Spider both avoided looking at Wainfleet in shame, eyeing their injuries instead.
“Fuckin’ hell. Just because Aonung miraculously gets away with some bloody stunt doesn’t mean you’re obligated to best him. Aight’? That won’t prove nothing to your old men except that you share the same braincell.”
The two boys nodded in response, finally meeting Lyle’s eyes as they hear concern overpower the anger in his voice.
Sigh “Now…how are we gonna explain these” he pointed at the bruises and cuts. “To them without getting my neck snapped, hm?”
The atmosphere lightened with his little quip, getting a small smile out of the sorry troublemakers as they looked at each other and shook their shoulders.
That’s just my take on it tho 💅😌

All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 3
Hello my beautiful people, here i am with the third part, LET THE ANGST CONTINUE. I dunno how long this series gon be, so bear with me guys, and i'll promise i'll stop the angst train soon, just not now :d Comments, feedback and reblogs are appreciated, i love your reactions. love y'all
Simon "Ghost" Riley x F!Reader
Warnings:, torture, language, graphic scenes, again: military men, mention of urination (weird i know), canon typical violence i guess, overall distraught
Summary: While your try to hold it together both body and mind in the midst of darkness and pain, Simon and the team try their best to get to you, without walking into a deathtrap.
Tumblr media
A soft feather like touch is grazing the inside of your wrist, so light but apparent, eyes snapping open. Is he here? A wave of relief washing over you momentarily before registering your own finger on your own skin, caressing the veins under the thin skin.
You choke on the sob that erupts from you, realizing you tried to comfort yourself unconsciously, your mind in shambles, making you believe Simon got through all the Shadows to you. Damsel in distress you said? You snort at that, the fast switch in your head is comical at this point. You are loosing your mind already? That cannot be the case, no. You are stronger than that.
You keep petting your wrist, now fully aware of the fact that it's just you, not Simon making sure of the pulsing under his fingers. It became something so intimate between the two of you. When you woke up in the hospital, in the midst of nightmares, fire and pain, you could feel the sensitive touch of callused fingers, holding your hand the same way, all the time. Wrapped around your hand, warm, fingers meeting on top of the veins where you can feel the rhythmical thump of blood rushing in them.
So you woke up like that, him on your bedside, not letting your hand go for a second, pulling his chair closer when you found his gaze, devoid from the black camouflage makeup or haunting image of a skull. A handsome man with worry in his deep gaze, telling tales of how much hell he's been trough.
So it became a habit, a couple thing if you will. He does this anytime he seeks comfort, and anytime he feels you need reassurance of his presence. When you first sat up with a hole still in your chest, when he confessed how fucking terrified he was when you hit the ground, when you walked out scarred mentally and physically, when he tried to catch you attention, or when he wanted one more kiss before you turned back to the stove. It's a silent i love you. Neither of you are good with words, but you found other ways to communicate.
You doing it gives a tiny bit of ease in the middle of the dusty cold room.
You look around, slowly to see every corner and darker part, and while you are certain no one else is in the room with you, you are still cautious with your surroundings. Everything is in the exact same place as before your head decided to give in to the bleariness. You remain on the sad wooden chair screwed to the ground in the middle, a reeking bucket of your piss behind you in the farthest corner, old electrical boxes so old you can't see the color of them under all the rust. You inspected everything, the boxes are rooted, they might open but you doubt you'll have enough juice in you to crack open any of it.
Other than the boxes and your makeshift toilet the space is empty, and it was a miracle that you even have the luxury to pee in something. Graves left you with one of his goons for a while, inspecting your every move, so when another Shadow brought it, you peed looking into his eyes. The man was so flustered he left the room minutes later, and you thought about how Soap would laugh at this story after going on a rampage of your humiliation. You couldn't care less. If this is all you have to endure, so be it. You are off the hook easy so far, and you fear Graves is waiting for the big finale. You are the bait, and he's hiding out to lure the targets closer and closer before he can land a solid attack.
The moment Graves left you behind, you had a deep breath, having a moment without the poker face and resistance. Now you are going mad in the quiet. Just how he said. Memorized every bit of the space around you, counted the steps on the other side of the door, focusing on the difference between boots, your brain high from stress. He wants you to crack, and you have to admit with shame, that if someone can do it, it's him. He knows you well, as a person and as a soldier.
You freeze when the door bursts open, Graves and two of his Shadow following behind. Here we go again, you think.
"You know what time is it Darling." Yeah, you know the drill already. He comes and watches as his men does the dirty job. God forbid Philip Graves gets blood on his hands.
So the first punch lands right to your stomach, air knocked out of you with a painful grunt. Shit, no foreplay this time? He's getting impatient. He wants progress, his math didn't work so he's upping his game. He anticipated the task force by now, a siege, an attack. Anything. You can see on his face, frustrated expression with deep purple bags under his eyes.
The blows are calculated. They cause pain, creating vivid colors on your skin, but too far from being fatal. A busted lip, blackeye, cuts and bruises deep enough to bleed, but drying out in a short time. It's not time yet. That might be your play.
He observes every hit on you, instructing the men assaulting you when he needs to. The pain is irrelevant at this point. You can barely feel the abuse after the impact. Which is good and real bad at the same time.
You need time. You have to buy some time for yourself, and for the guys to get to you before it's too late.
You realize you are on autopilot mode. Your brain working in military mode. Endure. Survive. Plan. No matter what. Just the reminder of a ghost touch on your wrist collect the tears in your eyes with the sting of the blade pushing slowly under your nail.
You blocked the pain so far, but your body has limits. In the middle of the constant blows, you didn't noticed the ziptie locking in on you ankles. Now when the sharp metal is threatening to broke off your first nail from your finger you try to move you knee up to meet with the man's jaw. But the impact never comes, and makes you wonder when it all happened. When the numbness left your body and switched places with pure agony and terror. Soon your hands are tied to the damn chair that's been your only support in this hell, and your wrists are painfully tight against the wood.
You hyperventilate, you cannot know but can imagine the pain you are about to experience. Simon told you it was probably the worst he ever felt. And he never says things like that unless he means it.
Then you scream.
*
He was ready. Blood boiling, heart aching, but ready. He was so close to action, and that clouded his judgment. Or blinded is a better description to it. He missed the subtle but clear signs that the others caught sooner. Though they agreed on the plan, it was clear and fast forward, they couldn't go with it. First Price suggested to take a step back, have an eye on everything, before making a move. That's what he did, watched and monitored and he ignored every fucking red flag that was in his face. Then everybody else hinted on the fact that the plan won't work, but he's too stubborn to hear them out.
"What are you suggesting? Leave her there to fucking die?" He's dangerously close to jump on Price for putting a complete halt on the mission. "There should have been proof of life delivered for hours now. Fuckin' 'ell she might be already DEAD!"
His voice is roaring, filling the room, dancing in his teammates ears. While they were prepared for Ghost's wrath, they never could fully understand the lengths this man will take to do what need to be done. Right now Simon is mere inch away from marching right down to the Shadow hideout, and demolish the place to the ground.
"You let me take the lead for a reason, Simon. What do you think why we haven't seen proof of life? So you lose your mind over it, because they anticipated us hours before. They know we had eyes on the area for days." Price is steady against Ghost, but he's a little out of breath, eager to reason with Ghost to prevent him do something life threatening stupid shit.
"You know Lt. the Captain is right. Every corner of that base is orchestrated for us. Every man there moved the same everyday, took the same route at the same time as before. They made it look hard but easy enough for us to try." Johnny is passionate as always, Ghost admires the fire he has in every damn situation. But in this hell of a state, Simon can't see past the red.
"She's the bait for us to go down there, and when the bastards have us, we guaranteed her death with ours."
Price and Soap talks from different sides of his head, desperate to knock some sense into his brain, making him see the ovious. But if they are right, Simon can't get closer to the goal. That means more hours and days of suffering. Suffering that he endures, and guilt doubling down on him when he registers he's afraid of his own suffering first, and not yours.
Simon's heart breaks over and over, the heart he had doubts about ever existing, head pounding against the thick skull of his. And while every fiber in his body tells him to break down the fucking doors and destroy anything and everything in search of you, he have to admit his brothers are correct.
Soap picks up Ghost's break, he can hide his face behind the mask, but he cannot hide his feelings, not when Soap watched his two teammates break into shreds, then slowly picking up what remained and putting the pieces back together. Before Simon can protest, Johnny is nudging him outside of their small long forgotten barn that sheltered them the past few days.
Simon lets Soap to guide him further, where he can breath, and might have that long awaited collapse Soap would have had at the first moment if it was about his significant other. To be honest, he already had his fair share of outrage and terror the moment he got the news about you. His best friend for years now, a friend he found in a place void of this kind of relationship he has with you.
He overcome that fury, but Ghost is a stubborn son of a bitch, and he's not sure he can turn his friend's head to the right way.
"C'mon man. You need to see what i'm seein'. You saw yourself, just think about it." Simon takes deep breaths, the cool fresh air clearing his head, the wind forcing some tears out of his eyes.
"I know." Simon grunts, head hanging defeated. "I know." He clears his throat in effort to swallow back his words. Fight is in his nature, not acceptance.
A few moment goes by like this, Johnny supporting his mate with silence, a comfortable and an awkward silence at once.
Just as Soap would try to speak again, Gaz approaches the men out of breath, stumbling over in his words before he can say it.
"We got a video, a minute ago. She's alive."
Ghost shots up, like he was shot with electricity. He lunges towards the barn, the boys hot on his trail.
*
The small laptop show a horrific scene, right in the middle of a scream. If Ghost wouldn't know better, he would think it's someone else, not her. But the inhuman voice is coming out of your mouth, he knows, because he sees your face fully for a moment before the video continues on to show how your nails are being removed one after one. While your face was shown in a swift blurry move, the picture of raw meat under your nails are as sharp as his precious knife in his holster.
Price reaches for the laptop, but Simon claps his hand before he could close it down, and prevent Simon to see all of it.
"No." He grumbles, Price retreats, not pleased at the slightest. He's done watching, the sound is enough to imagine the content of it.
It goes on and on, the images burning into Simon's memory, and he wants it that way. If you have to go through that, he'll too. This is going to be his fuel for what's about to come, because he will ravage the very existence of Philip Graves. He will erase his memory off of this goddamn earth, with nothing to remain.
Slowly every one of the guys takes a step back from the proof of life they awaited so much, and only Simon stays rooted in front of the screen. Not much is visible of the place, dark hugging the room, black gloves on the torturer, black tactical wear on the others holding her down, no face shown, no other sound just the screams and some grunts of the captivators. Because she still fights, of course she does. She has to.
Just as Simon feels his own limit of watching you in anguish, not fucking feeling anything anymore, your voice changes, turns into words before the torturing hand freezes, and video cuts off.
"Do you...do you remember Istanbul Phil? Hmmm, the good ol' days huh?"
Blood rushes with full force again in his veins, the words awakening his senses. Your voice drowning in the accent at the end Soap laughed so much on, and he did have some low chuckle himself when he first heard them in his ears through the comms.
All pair of eyes locked at him, realization hitting every one of them. You gave them a way in.

Big Boy post, this time on Revy
I guess this will cover the basics of Revy as a character and the fundamentals of understanding her.
First off, her nickname is not “Two Hands.” It’s “Two Hand.” Which I barely learned myself, I think the anime uses Two Hands which is the source for the added s. But at least in the manga and by Hiroe himself she’s “Two Hand.” This name originated from a character in a novel he read, “Run” by Douglas E. Winter. (I recently bought it like a fool so I’ll try and connect the character to Revy when it arrives). But I think the English dub makes the mistake of Two Hands which caused the confusion. I guess in the sub version it’s correct.
Tumblr media
Revy is a Chinese American. But she is ethnically full Chinese. The American is just her nationality. Hiroe confirms this in an interview where he states Revy is a minority, her physical appearance is based on Mangoloid features rather than Caucasian. He also states that she faces a lot of discrimination in life.
Tumblr media
Which is why I think I figured out why Revy in the anime as a kid has black hair when she shoots her father. She dyed her hair burgundy to look less Chinese. Think about it. If she is facing a lot of police brutality in Chinatown, NYC, and her own father beats her she would want to remove herself as far from that demographic as possible. This is why she doesn’t know any Mandarin and chose to not directly align with Chang’s triad. Also she wore hoop earrings as a kid too, at least in the anime.
Tumblr media
There is no way she’d want to be seen first by her race. As she said, all the cops saw was a “little chink bitch.” She absolutely loathes to be viewed by her appearance rather than skill or personality.
This may link to her exposed clothing style. Not only is it practical for movement, which is all she does in combat, but it prevents her from overheating. But the most important factor is that she shows a lot of skin; exposing her arms, legs and stomach. Therefore, her athletic build is on display. And the implication of it is clear. She is proud of her body, she will kill you, and it does not matter what she’s wearing. On a level it may be a subconscious decision of the aftermath of her rape. The number one thing the victim is blamed for is what they’re wearing, or rather the lack of clothes, which must obviously signify they wanted it. This is below the lowest bar you can go in blaming victims. Unfortunately, it’s likely that Revy in hopes of getting a reaction or letting it slip, told her dad about what happened.
And what would he say? Something about dressing like a slut or whore if I had to bet.
So, by her current attire, Revy is saying the exact opposite, she’s rebelling against that idea. Or at least mocking the idea that less clothing makes a woman weaker/vulnerable.
Also, she wears the same boots as Dutch. They don’t share the same belt but Revy’s matches the boots: both U.S. military. I find it cute that she could’ve had any other boots but chose to match him. She really does look up to him, and he’s basically her only father figure. It’s heavily implied that he came up with her nickname; Two Hand. Since Benny says that Dutch is good at creating nicknames and right when Rock joined, he made one up for him.
Tumblr media
Now I will cover the basic ground for Revy’s personality.
Anger: Yeah, obviously this is at the top of the list. It’s the most obvious to new black lagoon fans; how many times does she yell and curse? But I would argue that this is the emotion she’s most familiar with, not what defines her character. This is a defense mechanism for when she feels threatened. Calm down two men showcases this the best. When she can’t talk down to Rock she gets pissed and tries to kill him. When he pulls the gun away, she punches him, and she sounds like a kid when she yells at him. She is scared and confused on how anger is not making him stop. After all, it’s what stopped her dad and everyone else who got on her bad side.
I will say that the anime focuses on this and makes it a larger trait of her character than the manga. But she does use humor as her last defense mechanism. Again, in calm down two men when she obviously can’t shoot away Rock or scare him with anger in the manga she says, “Screw you. You’re way more out there. Gump. Dork. Fool-in-a-suuuuit.”
This is something I’ve only recently discovered. Due to only watching the anime I missed a lot of differences that the manga makes. Revy in the latest chapters actually does expertly use humor to deescalate things. Specifically, between Le Majeur and Eda where she insists they settle their tempers through drinks instead of a gunfight.
Tumblr media
Another one is with Roberta’s Blood Trail when they meet the addict. Revy plays along with his conspiracy theories, which gets them inside and talking to him. She does threaten him but in a tactful way of offering him much pure product if he complies.
There are other moments too where she uses it, the documents for Chang, some interactions with Fabiola, Japan, etc. So, it is a natural progression of her learning how to use her strengths and her own use of wordplay alike Rock.
And I would argue that Revy is as smart as Rock. Not academically of course but she matches his wit by her street smarts and gut feeling. A prime example in Roberta’s blood trail where she purposely knocks a bottle over to start the gunfight. They save Fabiola and she remarks that she knows Fabiola has never shot before. Just by shaking her hand and her unsteadiness getting out of the car, she knows that Fabiola got frazzled up. She actually offers a lot of advice with Fabiola and Garcia.
Also, with the Feng arc she uses a soda to cause an enemy’s gun to jam. Knowing that it will soak up in the metal and prevent it from firing. She also manipulates him by playing cat and mouse. She openly mocks him by saying his brother’s last words were for the “devil to ream him out on ass fucking street in hell.” So yeah, she just leads him straight to a firing squad then ducks as he gets shot to death. She’s very aware of how to lead a team as well.
In Roberta’s blood trail she does it with Shenhua, Sawyer and Lotton. She openly yells at Shenhua for trying to kill Roberta, since it’s a death sentence. They would’ve gotten the Americans if Hotel Moscow didn’t step in.
Also, Revy is very well connected to the criminals of Roanapur. She has a snitch on hand, a drug addict that she supposedly supplies, knows one of Hotel Moscow’s men, speaks openly to one of Abrego’s men, etc. She is aware that having a lot of connections is a good thing, so no doubt that she checks up on her contacts or knows a lot of the regulars at the Yellow Flag.
Surprisingly there are moments where she predicts how a party will move/think. A few times she does it with Hotel Moscow, the vampire twins, escape routes in the city that someone can or will take, and the deserted meetup with Chang’s clients, Shenhua and the Irish driver.
I’ll try to update this later as much as possible. It’s just hard due to the manga being digital for the later volumes so it takes longer to go through each page to find references.

'Black lives matter' 'Well, all lives matter!'
'Israel is committing a genocide on Palestine' 'Both sides are suffering!'
'Pride festivals' 'Well straight people should get pride too!'
'Women's history month' 'Men should get a month too!'
'Pride month' 'You get a month when the military only gets a day!'
'Black history month' 'Why can't white people get a month too!'
It's the exact same 'But I'm not included so you MUST have an agenda against me!' argument but with slightly new wording. It's pathetic. There's a reason we call attention to suffering, because it's STILL. HAPPENING.
The genocide is Palestine is ongoing, it's been ongoing for YEARS, there are children being fucking bombed minutes after they take their first breath, entire bloodlines wiped out in MINUTES.
Israel is not going through a genocide, it is not being forced through the same suffering Palestine is, they aren't suffering the same.
There are still racist people, still queerphobic people, still misogynistic people, Zionists who defend genocide, thousands more, THAT'S why we need to pay attention to these issues. Because they still happen everywhere. Because it's still an issue. One side going through suffering does not mean they get to wipe out the other.

Diasomnia and Mulan Parallels in Chapter 7
We gotta talk about Diasomnia and the subtle Mulan motifs because I haven’t seen many people talking about it in relation to chapter 7 and I’m seeing the signs everywhere.
So obviously Twisted Wonderland has dropped hints and has referenced Mulan multiple times, especially when it comes to Diasomnia. The first time I remember it being extremely prominent was in the Halloween event. The relationship between the two being dragons, which makes sense. However, there’s a lot more connections than just that.
Silver represents and is twisted from a lot of things, much like Lilia, but one of those things is the silver sword used by Prince Philip to kill Maleficent. Now there’s also another movie where a sword and physical fighting is important and you guessed it, it’s Mulan!
Let’s talk about the parallels between Mulan and Diasomnia especially when it comes to chapter 7.
Lilia and Mulan’s dad are in the same position. Both fathers are getting older and have lost their prowess and power they once had.
Silver and Mulan are also in the same position. When the war comes to China and the draft is announced, Mulan steps up for her family and father, who’s too old to go to war, and goes in his stead despite her family’s disapproval and devastation. When Malleus overblots and Lilia is too weak to counter him, Silver steps up to save his family from this sleeping curse despite Malleus’s active disdain and outrage. Both of them choose to do the harder thing. Mulan had the option to stay home and just act as a good wife in order to help her parents and Silver could have decided to stay in his dream with Lilia because that’s what he wanted most of all, but neither of them do that. Mulan goes into the military to protect her father and her family, while Silver opposes Malleus because he wants to respect and honor his father’s last wishes and knows that this isn’t what he wants, and it’s not easy. Mulan desperately struggles to stay in the military and is only barely able to make it (I’ll Make a Man Out of You). Silver has to give up his dream and desire to be together with his father and then fight one of his closest relatives essentially on the matter, which is emotionally taxing.
Mulan is also the underdog, the least likely person to save China, and much like Mulan, Silver is too. Mulan is a woman, who's often considered weaker than men. Similarly, Silver is a human surrounded by fae, who’re known to have more magical prowess and power and long life spans. They’re the unexpected ones who will defeat someone who’s considered an impossible enemy.
Now Silver’s Unique Magic is a foil to Malleus’s Fae of Maleficence. You could consider Silver a mirror to Malleus, a reflection. Which could be connected to Mulan, as she sings Reflection and ends up seeing her reflection in the sword before deciding to cut her hair off and go to the military.
Now, while not 100% confirmed, I’m inclined to believe that Sebek has heavy aspects of Shang incorporated into his character. Much like Shang’s actions of kicking Mulan out of the military when he finds out she’s a female, Sebek parallels this by believing that fae are stronger than humans and discriminating against them. Now, Shang comes around to the idea of Mulan, a female, saving all of China and is pretty cool with it and seems a bit proud of her. Now, I have a distinct feeling that Sebek is going to do the same in terms of coming around to humans. The first year gang is gonna show him that humans are just as powerful as fae. Maybe not in the exact same way, but they do have their strengths. Just like how Shang might have been physically stronger than Mulan, Mulan was more creative with her environment than he was.
Malleus is probably acting as the Hun’s leader whose name I forgot and I also forgot his motive for going to war too so can’t say much about him.
I also have a distinct inclination that the first year gang, or at least ADeuce is gonna play a part in this because of how they inducted Ortho into their group and how they’ve been grouping them together so far. I’m thinking that in terms of story roles, the first year gang is gonna act like Mulan’s besties in the military who dressed up as beautiful women to get inside the palace along with Cricket and Mushu. Defeating the Huns was a team effort in Mulan and I have a feeling it’s going to be the same for defeating Malleus. I mean, defeating Maleficent was a team effort in Sleeping Beauty. The fairies helped Philip escape, gave him weapons, and buffed him in order for him to one shot Maleficent. I can see that happening with Ortho being the striker.
Also if my thought process is correct for Sebek, that means that he’s going to end up bonding with other humans besides Silver and whore better candidates than the first year gang? Besides, Ace hasn’t gotten his unique magic yet, so it’s probably going to happen in Chapter 7 and if not, chapter 8. I’m not exactly sure how Twisted will end, but that’s not the main concern at the moment. We gotta survive chapter 7 first and I’ve already cried over these characters two times already.

What exactly was William Hastings killed for? He did not receive a public trial, did he really cooperate with the Woodville family? Was he killed at the banquet or a week later?
Oh it was a coup and murder. He still likely received a hasty and rigged trial before.
Tumblr media
I'm not very interested and versed in the debate concerning the exact timing of his execution; however, the why is very clear.
Richard decided to usurp the throne and depose his nephews. He had supporters: Lord Howard, the northern Peerage and gentry and more amazingly the only other duke besides himself: Henry Stafford, Duke of Buckingham. Henry Stafford's support despite his seeming lack of relationship with Gloucester and his marriage link to the Woodville allowed the effect of surprise needed to capture Edward V and become the most powerful faction. The Woodville were a spent force by June 1483: Anthony Woodville and Richard Grey were in jail, Thomas was in exile, Edward Woodville failed to attract the royal fleet's support and the queen was secluded in Westminster Abbey.
Hence why the accusation from Richard that Hastings was plotting with the queen was a bit ludicrous: What is there to plot with? They're all in exile or in jail. They can't raise levies in the short term or do a strike attack. Hastings had serious squabbles with both the queen and Dorset, and there was no reason for him to support them over Gloucester, with whom he had a cordial relationship. I get people who say that he was afraid of either Gloucester's rise or Buckingham gaining importance but this isn't enough for him to do a speedy 180° turn back to a family he hurt and with whom he has some serious land feud.
The most probable conclusion was that he was killed because Gloucester wanted to overthrow his liege's heirs. Hastings couldn't accept that alongside the probable civil war it would trigger, which would destroy Edward IV's legacy. There is the theory that Hastings was plotting to block Gloucester's usurpation but I don't believe it considering he was utterly caught by surprise at the Council.
But why kill him by surprise and so quickly?
Richard knows Hastings' role in the Edwardian regime. He is the figurehead of the Household and most non-Woodville-related supporters. He is also a big source of manpower that was instrumental in Edward IV's triumph in 1471. From his lands and his personal retinue in the Midlands, Michael Hicks calculated he could raise thousands of men (I do not have his book with me so from my recollection it's either 3,000 or 8,000 men). Hastings is the king's friend, well-connected, popular and with a good military record and great control as Chamberlain over the Royal Household. In other words: he is a key player and a dangerous one on top of that.
But his fatal flaw is that he wields institutional power more than feudal power. He's powerful because he's the king's friend, his chamberlain and well-connected to his household and various official of the council. His son doesn't have the same connections. That's why Hastings disappearing is so attractive to Richard: he does not have an heir with enough might to avenge him as Edward IV did for his father.
Hence why I don't think that Richard even asked whether he would be open to Edward V's deposition. He couldn't afford a no and lost the effect of surprise. So he just went for it, struck before Hastings realized his intentions and executed him before his friends and servants could react.
Afterward he made his peace with Hastings' son by not attaining the father and seizing his lands. Edward Hastings was simply too young and not connected and experienced enough to pose a genuine threat to Richard.
So to sum up: I don't think he was cooperating with the Woodvilles and he was clearly killed because he could become an opponent to the usurpation that would happen soon after his death.
Thanks for the question!
