it's important to remember that dogs are predators (some of them large predators) that can be dangerous and to treat them accordingly. yes, even dogs you know. yes, even dogs you know really well. yes, even your own dogs. if you ever take it for granted that a dog couldn't hurt someone then you're putting the dog, yourself, and other people in danger.

but you can remember that and live by that without it damaging your relationship with dogs. in fact, it makes the relationship even better: instead of treating them like babies, you are meeting them in a place of respect. this is especially helpful whenever you get a new dog, because you go into this new partnership knowing that you have to take certain steps (training, socialization, etc) that will not only make things safer and easier for everyone involved, but will also help ease any anxieties or fears the animal might have.

people take just about any animal for granted, especially animals you can purchase as pets, and dogs get a lot of shit they don't deserve because of it. you are not entitled to dogs. they're not human babies. treating them like they are makes their anxieties worse, encourages reactive behaviors, and unnecessarily puts people at risk of their reactive behaviors. meeting them where they are and being willing to put work into them if you are their handler and if you're not listening to their handlers' wishes in regards to them will give them much happier lives in the long run.

Do people judge a book by its cover? They absolutely do. They take one look at this, and they either often instantly hate it or love it.

Talking about how things should be is just yelling into the void. There is just reality. And this is the reality of being a self-published indie author.

People make complete conclusions based off of incomplete information. In this case, my book, there are no adults pressuring the boy into getting any surgery. There's no mention of surgery at all even. This person is thinking of a children's book written by a very popular political figure. Some people have had the courtesy to ask me if it's like that book. It's not at all. It's not even political. It's a story told from the perspective of a kid who grows up knowing they are very different and yet can tell no one about it. Even saying a word about it would bring all of his deepest and darkest fears into reality.

The challenge was to make the story as dark and scary as I could without ever going too far for a children's book. There are already some scary children's books and movies out there that prove what's possible, and I worked with my illustrator, Marta, to push it as far as we could go. There's one page we had to re-do almost completely because even I said that's a bit much.

But I'm very happy with the final result because we also got to do so many fun and colorful pages like this.

There will be plenty more drive-by reviews as the book continues to grow and grow. They take one look and see a soapbox to express all of their disappointments and frustrations in life.

I think they might be scared of the book. The world they grew up in is slowly fading away day by day, and it's all they have come to know. They've been around for so long that everything has become a bore to them, and the only remaining pleasure is to escape into the past in order to better preserve it. I can oddly relate, actually.

Can Team Tuck and Team Buddie please agree that both can exist and serve as positive spaces for queer male representation?

I've been thinking. Let me run something by you.

Oliver says he has always felt Buck was a bi-coded character? Right?

Does that mean when TK thought Buck was hitting on him, he was?

If Buck was always bi, but just didn't know it, are we supposed to believe he never flirted with Eddie just because his first kiss was with Tommy?

Was Tommy his bi awakening or was Tommy the embodiment of the attractive traits he has seen in a man he's been falling for over five seasons?

You can like or even love multiple people. Even at the same time! 😮

Believing that Buddie is or should be the endgame does not negate or disrespect Buck's arc with Tommy in any way. I question if Tommy was just a convenient character. He's a safe guy to explore Buck's evolution with. He has a history with members of the 118, but he is not integral to the cast. If it doesn't work out, he is easily explained away. Remember Natalia?

I think it is possible to have a Buck and Tommy centered arc, focused on Buck becoming comfortable with his sexuality and exploring it in a healthy, positive way and still have Buck and Eddie eventually realize they have been each other's person for years. Having both doesn't make the other any less important. How many people have dated others when their eventual life partner was right there? They had no idea they saw that person in that way.

Now that we know Buck is bi, it could lead to different interpretations of scenes:

Buck is looking at Eddie. Tommy is not there and we don't know for sure who Eddie was speaking to.

2. Look at that smile and his eyes at the end. Buck positively beams and bats his eyes when he realizes Eddie is going to look at him. That's how platonic friends look at each other?

3. But we can take it all the way back if we have to. Look at Buck when Eddie compliments him.

3b. Do you know what that reminds me of?

4. If Buck has subconciously been into guys for a long time, then this scene takes on a whole new context.

Moving closer to the other man? Check.

Eye contact? Check?

Smile and shy head duck? Check.

*I'd like to state that I have no doubt Edmundo Diaz knew Buck was into him. Look at the reaction.

5. When I'm into someone, you know what I don't talk about? Someone else.

6. Wow. Look at how Buck looks at Tommy.

Buck x Tommy and Buck x Eddie can coexist in harmony. Life stories are long and have jumpscares, plot twists, plot holes, etc.

Buck being genuinely attracted to Tommy doesn't mean that all the scenes from the past five seasons that made us all side-eye Evan Buckley didn't happen.

If we never get Buddie, let's just take the win. ABC said, "There are queer men in the world who are masculine, hot, and relatively stable. Let's show that."

Do we really need to talk about how the LGBTQ community was represented on their former network? I could stand on that soapbox and go off for days. Let's just say I know others who also felt some way about it, whether they were straight, queer, or allies.

I am just going to enjoy what is shaping up to be an amazing season. Moving to ABC breathed new life into 911 and I am excited. (Season six? Can we just not talk about it?)

Topic of today’s rant: PEOPLE PRINTING AND SELLING FANFIC & GENERAL FANDOM ETIQUETTE

Profiting from fanfic will ruin it for everyone.

I want all of you who gift us your stories to be safe from lawsuits and beware that your content might be stolen.

Not to be on a soapbox and preaching to the choir but here are.

There are many authors pulling their work off AO3 because people acting on bad faith are printing and binding fics to sell on etsy thus infringing copyright laws. Fanfic has always been a grey area and we are allowed to exist in this grey area because we are not profiting from it. The minute money is exchanged, every party involved is breaking the law.

Why am I complaining about this yet again? Because we might be deprived from enjoying fanfic with the freedom we currently have because the fanfic authors will fear getting sued. If third parties are stealing our work and selling it, publishers and studios won’t care to know who sold it. It is your handle (thus IP address) on the sold fanfic. Because, get this, they are doing downloads straight from ao3 with your usernames.

Manacled is being pulled from ao3 because the author will publish it as a book. People are putting the book at risk by selling printed versions of it on Etsy.

I believe many of us who fall on the 20 years of reading fanfic side rather than on the 20 year olds reading fanfic will remember the Anne Rice days. These are not fully over because her son is carrying on the legacy of suing everyone who writes fanfic of her work. And if I may say, she didn’t invent vampires and should’ve taken many seats. I digress.

I am not sure of the levels of awareness within this community and to what extent it can affect all of us. TikTok is a massive contributor to this problem (as it is to many other problems. Again, I digress) since booktok and the binding folks discovered ao3.

You might think, I only post on tumblr so my content is safe. Well, they are finding their way here too. They cringe because tumblr is for old people but they still make their way here with their bad manners and pillaging behaviour.

I want all of you who gift your stories to be safe, lawsuit free, not lose your content and not be afraid of sharing.

I wish I had a definitive solution to this problem but I can only think of small actions:

report the etsy accounts selling fanfic/fanfic commissions,

report the TikTok accounts selling binding for fanfic work,

go back to the days of putting disclaimers on your notes that you don’t own the characters and you are not profiting from the story.

Tagging some authors* here for visibility so you can cascade to more people. Absolutely no pressure tag.

I just came across a post someone made where they basically just said that Padme telling Anakin “it’s human to be angry” after he commits the Tusken Massacre is fine because she was “empathizing with him” and also criticizing the SW fandom via satire for criticizing Padme for that and saying that there was still good in him.

So one thing I need people to understand before they ever start getting on the- “you can’t criticize Padme, she did nothing wrong, she was just in love” -soapbox, is that her and Anakin’s love story is inherently toxic on both ends.

There is no version of their story that ends well if they stay together.

Anakin is a narcissistic abuser*, and Padme is an enabler of his behavior.

(*Keep in mind, when I say “Anakin is an abuser,” I mean the emotional abuser sort—as he doesn’t ever physically harm her until RotS)

This post is primarily about Padme, though, so I’ll just make another post analyzing Anakin—if that’s something y’all would be interested in.

Think about it, though.

Anakin commits mass murder, including the murder of literal children, and Padme—someone who the fandom loves to point to as being morally perfect—basically says that it’s fine because being angry- (and committing mass murder because of it ig) -is normal.

She even rewards him by marrying him like, what is it, a day later? And she never tells anyone about it because god forbid Anakin face any consequences.

Anakin almost beats a man to death and then blames Padme for her own assault, she says he scares her and they need to take a break…but then she goes back to him soon after and apparently forgets all about the whole- “almost beating a man to death” -thing and is so excited to raise a family with him.

Because growing up in a household where their father regularly gets incredibly angry, and physically violent when he is, totally won’t traumatize the kid or anything! Raising children with a child-murderer totally isn’t cause for concern!

Anakin takes part in a genocide, massacres the Temple, ONCE AGAIN MURDERS CHILDREN…and she’s still begging him to stay with her so they can raise their perfect little family on Naboo.

And apparently he’s still a good person.

Right.

Anakin never receives any consequences or pushback from Padme for his actions/behavior and, on the rare occasions she does push back, she goes running back to him—plowing over her own boundaries—almost immediately because she refuses to let go of her own delusional fantasies about their relationship.

That is what people are criticizing for, not for falling in love in the first place.

Anakin has his own set of issues that make the relationship toxic, but Padme also takes part in that toxicity by enabling his behavior—and people are well within their rights to criticize her for it, just like they should criticize Anakin.

Back on my Ashton Chronic Pain Soapbox for a second after 4SD, because holy shit.

Taliesin saying that, actually Ashton’s pain gets worse/harder to ignore after disappearing for a while is so fucking real, though. Like, when you're in pain for that long, you really don't realize how terrible you actually felt every day until it eases up/goes away for a time.

I've been on antidepressants to help manage my pain for a few years. They aren't a perfect solution (I still have chronic pain), but my day-to-day is much more bearable than it was before the meds. Having depressive tendencies can actually make you more receptive to pain. But also, like, being in constant pain is a giant fucking bummer.

I was literally only two days in with taking my meds when I started feeling the difference. I was still having migraines and nausea from the side effects of the meds, but my joints hurt so much less.

Even my mom was like, 'Wow, you seem so much happier lately', and I was just like, 'YEAH, BECAUSE I'M NOT HURTING SO MUCH ALL THE TIME."

I'll never forget the look she gave me after that. I don’t think she really realized how bad it was for me until that moment. A lot of people didn't really take me seriously about my pain until I got on medication for it. And I didn't fully realize how much it was dragging me down until it wasn't anymore.

But also, my pain's been so much worse lately - I suffered an injury back in August that brought a lot of my old pain roaring back, and the cold climate where I live doesn't help. Holy shit, it's such a fucking drag. My everyday pain levels are a whole lot worse than I ever remember them being before i started medication, and I am just so, so tired.

Though it saddens me to know how many of us are enduring chronic pain every day, it made me feel less alone to see everyone sharing their experiences on my last couple posts about Ashton’s pain. Having that representation is so important, and I appreciate Taliesin so much for giving it to us.

I’m pretty sure the people bitching about not giving money to tumblr are the same ones who complain when AO3 or wikipedia ask for donations, so I’m just gonna clarify something

Running a website is not free

Even if they made no changes and did only maintenance, they still need to pay for server costs, expert programmers for when something goes wrong, storage (although frankly storage is cheap as chips these days which is nice)

They need to keep up with the capabilities of new tech like improvements to web browsers, never mind their own apps keeping pace with old and new tech developments

Backwards compatibility (being able to run the updated app on old tech) is a massive problem for apps on a regular basis, because there are people out here using an iPod and refusing to update software

There’s a reason every few years apps like Animal Crossing will issue an update that breaks backwards compatibility and you can only play if your phone is running more recent software

This shit costs money even before you look into the costs of human moderation, which I’m not exactly convinced is a big part of their current budget but fucking should be if we want an actual fix for their issues with unscreened ads and reporting bigots

Ignoring that it’s apparently illegal for companies not to actively chase profits, running Tumblr is expensive

And advertisers know we fucking hate them here

They’re still running ads, which we know because they’re all over the damn place, but half the ads are for Tumblr and its store

Other ad companies know we are not a good market, so they’re not willing to put the money in

Tumblr runs at a $30 million deficit, every year, because hosting a site is expensive

They are trying to take money making ideas from other social medias because they’re not a charity; they need to make enough money to keep the site going

If you want tumblr to keep existing, never mind fixing its many issues that require human people to be paid to do jobs like moderation, they will need money

Crabs cost $3

One crab day a year can fix the deficit and hammer home for Tumblr that:

A) we do want to be here and want the site to keep going

And B) they do not need to do the normal social media money making strategies we all hate

They need a way to make money if you want the hellsite to exist, because we live in a capitalist hellscape and cannot all be AO3

If they think they can make enough to keep running without pulling all the tricks we hate, they have no reason to pull said tricks

But they need money

And a way to make money

And if we can show them we can do that, there is a significantly higher chance they will listen to us, the user base they need money from, than if we don’t

Tumblr isn’t perfect, or anywhere close. They need someone to actually screen the paid ads they put through, they need to take the transphobia, antisemitism, and bigotry seriously

Hello! I just reread “sun eats the moon” for the 12th time now and I cannot get enough of it. The way you write is just incredible. The way you wrote Gojo and his obsession with the reader was just so horrifyingly fascinating to read. Every time I go back to read their interacts I keep noticing different layers between them and it’s just amazing!!

Though, I think my favourite parts was the scenes between hiromi and the reader. It’s clear that he could tell something was going on, but he didn’t exactly know what (And the foreshadowing of him urging the reader to leave before it’s too late amazing amazing amazing).

And I loved your “lame solar system analogy” (your words not mine 😝). Maybe I’m overthinking it but there’s this one part in the last scene where the reader describes Gojos smile as bloody, and then when she looks up at the moon, she realises that it’s a blood moon. Just the foreshadowing of that??? Amazing, I love love love rereading your work and just finding little things like that!!!!!

I’m so sorry for the long message, but one last thing I promise. I just love how much of a mystery Geto is. Till the end of the fic, I could not understand whether he supported his best friend or the readers (maybe a bit of both?). Did he care about the reader, or was he more concerned about gojo? He did stop Gojo’s plan to baby trap her but now that I’m reread their interactions I’m wondering if it was more for Gojos sake than hers….

I've never written Higuruma before, but Im so glad I added him in that fic because clearly so many people enjoyed his parts. I'd actually written a scene where Higuruma is finally breaking away from the private sector and asks if the mc wants to be his paralegal even though he won't be working at the firm anymore. The reader would agree but then right after that gojo would come in and ruin EVERYTHING (because he is Gojo Satoru). But I didn't know how to fit that in, so I had to leave it out. But I did enjoy writing their camaraderie with each other. You can interpret what he knows as whatever you want, but I tried to imply that Higuruma thinks there is something weird going on between the reader and gojo but he can't put his finger on it. At first, he assumes you're uncomfortable with him solely because of how much Gojo flaunts his wealth, but the more he observes you, the more he realizes you're....afraid of Gojo, you barely want to be in the same room as him. I think he'd try to put some distance between you and him, but obviously, in the end, it didn't work out.

I just love repetition and symbolism so so much so im so sorry in advance if I annoyed yall with the 'sun' and the 'moon'. And yes!!! ahhh!!! im so happy you caught that foreshadowing with the blood moon cuz that's exactly what i was going for!!!!!

okay okay so i think i finally diluted it down in a way that sounds comprehensible and then after this i'll get off my soapbox but the thing about fob haters is that they consistently do the exact thing they always shame the mainstream for doing which is making this band a symbol for all these things they've never once stood for. fall out boy is fame hungry? fall out boy has used their music to criticize fame culture in nearly their entire discography. they have always been aware of their place in the industry and have quite scathingly spoke. on. it. fall out boy are not "blank" enough to be "insert genre here"? fall out boy never started with the intention of representing or wanting to represent a genre of music as a whole, nor did they intend to become the faces of a generation of alternative rock music and have always blended their sound with an amalgamation of music that was deeply inspirational and personal to them and wasn't represented nor accepted in the hardcore scene the grew up in, in fact, they started fall out boy due to the fact that they wanted to be in a band that was just fun to be in and fun to do because the scene was so restrictive. idk how else to say this, but bands are allowed to make music they like whether you're on board or not. fall out boy changed their sound to remain relevant? i cannot stress this enough, do you know how easy it would have been for fall out boy to just regurgitate from under the cork tree over and over again, but instead they gradually fleshed out their sound by taking risks on making music that interested them. and those risks did not always pay off to the point of the band delving into some of their darkest days during hiatus. it's a big risk to make an album like folie, it's a big risk to make an album like mania, and they took those risks anyway. it just sincerely baffles me when i hear so many people critical of the way the mainstream portrayed (and continues to portray) bands like mcr and paramore as representative of something they never ever wanted to be representative of and then turn around and do the exact same thing to fob with some shallow surface read of a song they heard on the radio and didn't like. like it's truly a sight watching some of y'all flailing to make an argument without recycling the same old stale comment that's been regurgitated to the point of turning into dust or without going back on the same things you applaud and defend other bands for. by all means, hate on fall out boy, you don't need to justify or defend not liking something, but my god have some self awareness lol i can see the steam coming out of your ears.

Rosie🌹:

🌹 Alastor came to visit the Emporium after a long day, much to Rosie’s delight.

🌹 It was late, however, so she was sure to tear him a new one for it nevertheless!

🌹 After all, what gentleman comes by a lady’s establishment so late at night?!

🌹 “My apologies, my friend,” Alastor says, pulling out a chair for Rosie to sit.

🌹 “Uh-uhn, don’t think you can pull a fastball on me, Alastor!” Rosie tsks at him. Nevertheless, she sits down.

🌹 “Oh, but I have such great news to tell you!” Alastor says, the static in his voice jittering and squeaking a little louder than usual. Rosie is about to complain, but Alastor beats her to the punch.

🌹 “Ah, ah, ah —I have something for you,” He sings, a box magically poofing into his hands. He sets it on the table and pushes it toward Rosie.

🌹 “What’s this? A snack?” Rosie grins toothily, a hint of coyness seeping into her words. Alastor chuckles.

🌹 He opens the box, and Rosie is hit by the strong aroma of a slightly sweet, spicy scent. She gasps.

🌹 “Ooooh, Alastor! You’re such a charmer, you know! Oh, did I tell you that before?” She clasps her hands together and hums cheerfully.

🌹 “Angel tips seared with sautéed onions and peppers from all over the bayou, served in this here jambalaya with a hearty flavor and peppered rice!” Alastor explains.

🌹 All of that sounds good! And the fact that the meat is somewhat sweet, even though Alastor hates sweet things, is delightful! Rosie’s mouth waters as she goes to fetch some silverware.

🌹 “No need, my friend!” Poof, polished silverware appears! Alastor gently places the silverware beside Rosie, filling up a matching bowl to place in front of her as well.

🌹 “Aww, how kind of you, Alastor,” Rosie inspects the bowl, sniffing the chunks of angel meat. “Smells fresh!”

🌹 Alastor leans over toward her face and smirks. His eyes shimmer a ruby red, and he mumbles, “Only the best for you, dear.”

🌹 He leans back in his chair, attentive as ever. “Now, go on and give it a taste! I find you’ll quite like the sweetness of the angel meat and the spice of Louisiana’s finest. I worked very hard perfecting that recipe!”

🌹 Rosie grins so hard her cheeks tint a little red. Nothing beats a delicious supper before winding down. “Oh, Alastor!” Rosie coos, “You’re such a doll!”

🌹 “As are you,” Alastor says, opting to watch rather than eat himself. “About that great news of mine…”

🌹 Alastor begins to tell his story as Rosie eats her food. As he does so, she can’t help a bubble of joy rising within her, somehow making the food even sweeter than it actually was.

🌹 To have a gentleman like Alastor in one’s life… what a blessing!

🌹 Peeking up at the babbling radio demon, Rosie plays with the idea of keeping him around even longer.

🌹 Keeping him around… yes, that would be wonderful.

A/N: WHEW!! Originally, I was gonna put everything in one post, but I decided to take it easy on myself and ease into this ☺️ as such, this’ll just be when Rosie realizes she has a squish. The next one will be Alastor, then I’ll make some traditional short-form aroace/AAspec headcanons for Radiorose!! I might make other kinds of post in between, we’ll see lol. just a general question, do trans fae ever use glamour to help them pass?

So, before I get up on my soapbox, I just wanna say; as much as passing is the goal of a lot of trans folks, it's not everyone's goal, and assuming that every trans person wants to "pass" as a binary gender is a sort of cisnormative thing. Not putting you on blast here, and I didn't think that was what you were insinuating, but I think with the recent re-rise of transmedicalism it's important to define terms.

To your actual question; im sure some people do, but in my experience, it's not a good or healthy thing to do long-term. Magically speaking, a glamour doesn't actually change your body, just the social perception people have of you. It can be a decent way to avoid getting "sir'd" at the WalMart, but at the end of the day, I've found that it actually can be super detrimental to your mental health.

Underneath the glamour, your body is still going to be your body, with all the dysphoria that might entail. You're going to drop the glamour when you're at home, or in a safe space, and all of the little things that give you dysphoria are going to be magnified because you've been hiding them. It's sort of like FaceApp in that way? I think a lot of young extranormal trans folk fall into the trap of using a glamour and setting an unrealistic standard for themselves that, when they look in the mirror and the glamour isn't on, their dysphoria worsens, because they don't look "like that."

I know that's what happened to me; and I've been a lot happier and more able to feel gender euphoria about myself and my transition when I started using a glam a lot closer to my actual appearance.

There's no magic bullet for social or physical transition. Trust me, I wish there was.

hi guys. if anybody wants an update on KOSA, it was voted out of committee this morning, meaning it is moving forward to the senate floor. this means that it is now IMPERATIVE to call your senators. it will likely be a while before they actually vote on it and there will likely be amendments and adjustments in the bill before then. passing a bill through senate is a lengthy process. if you care about stopping this bill, calling your lawmakers is incredibly important. two senators already vocalized their concerns about the bill this morning. senator markey (D-MA) specifically cited concerns from his constituents- which means calling IS making an impact. i called senator markey’s office myself so i am very optimistic that our opinions are making a difference. i’m sorry to keep posting about this on a fandom blog but i think that stopping this bill is very important. and if you think that KOSA will not negatively impact fandom spaces (especially queer fandom spaces) then you are not paying enough attention. however, that is the least of our concerns. it could also stop kids from accessing life saving information. especially (but not only) trans kids. and it could affect censorship and internet privacy for EVERYBODY. not just minors. i will get off my soapbox now but please if you can, take a few minutes out if your day to call your representatives. i am once again including the link to the compiled doc of info, including links to petitions (sign only once! otherwise it could be invalidated), more info on the bill, info on how to contact your reps, and scripts for what to say on the phone.

For various reasons, I've been spending a lot of time the past few days pondering the purpose, the aims, the point of storytelling, especially of fictional storytelling. In a world with so much reality demanding our attention, fiction needs to have a purpose, to have some role in bringing about our salvation.

And then someone sent me the link to a Catechism in a Year episode about engaging in public life where Father Mike just happens to give an explanation that addresses a lot of the issues I was thinking about.

I think that there's such a need for us to be able to tell those stories that don't just describe the way forward but they paint the way forward, right? They wouldn't just say, "Here's what you need to do next." They show pictures. They show, they reveal stories of, like, "Here's what it is to live justice. Here's what it is to be honest in this world. Here's what it is to be brave or courageous. Here's what it is to choose others before yourself. Here's what it is to lay down your life." And we get those stories in the Gospel. And that's one of the reasons why I think it's so important and so necessary for us to fill our minds with our Biblical stories so that we can shape our lens and see this world, as incumbent upon us, any of us who have any kind of authority over anyone, to tell those stories that say, "This is a good way to live. This is the best way to live. This is the wrong way to live. And this is a great way to live." And I think that's what all of us are called to do when it comes to participating in our community, participating in advancing the common good.

Anyway, I think that's what we're doing when we're writing stories from a Christian worldview. We're using stories to show those truths. Not using it as a soapbox to preach, but using those stories to explore questions and show truths about life in a way that mere preaching can't do. Engaging not just the mind, but the imagination and the heart. Providing examples of problems and showing how people like us face them and solve them or deal with the fallout from failing to solve them.

I'm not saying that authors have to shove in some greater message or purpose to their stories. Stories don't have to--and shouldn't just-- be puppet plays where every character has a role in a parable to teach some abstract concept. But I'm saying that a lot of times, that message will be there naturally--the way the story turns out says a lot about how the author thinks the world works.

And those stories will shape our internal life, and can have an effect on how we view the real world and how we act within it. Showing a character who acts courageously can give us strength to act courageously. Showing us a weak, cowardly character can remind us that we don't want to be like that guy. And so on and so forth. Seeing the characters live out a story can remind us that we have a role to play in the great story of human history, and can shape our approach to that role.

Stories are powerful, and we have to use that power wisely.
