I was seeing the art for the TMNWN after reading the fic and know I'm just wondering how many turtle instincts did the boys have when they were little lol

I'm just imagining Mikey trying to bury himself on the ground at the beggining of winter and driving his dad crazy with it and Raph trying to bite stuff he shouldn't with his very human moith that absolutely should not be biting anything.

A LOT.

It wasn't horrid, but they definitely did have turtle instincts (still do) that would rear their heads from time to time. There have been several 'digging' fiascos (looks at the "getting in trouble for trying to tunnel under their school" line in ch 17) and Donnie and Raph in particular had quite the biting habit when they were still little (looks at ch 4) and still both spend quite a lot of time chewing on things as a stim. All of them had a habit of trying to bite/eat things that WERE NOT FOOD, especially Mikey. Also took them a hot second to learn "you do not have a hard shell you can retract into and hide inside of to hide or avoid impact," which was. You know. A lesson... Might have resulted in at least one ER visit (they were fine.) Dad learned that he had to be very careful going out with Mikey in particular because if he's not paying very close attention and Mikey decides he's done with whatever they're doing, he will just fully wander away and attempt to walk home by himself.

Raph, Donnie, and Leo, blissfully laying in puddles on a rainy day: Their Dad: okay i love u all and im so glad ur enjoying yourselves but youre in the middle of the sidewalk in nyc and also people think youre dead or something plz get up you can do this when we get back home i swear--

hc that richies teeth r a mess and went totally hates it cause it makes him look bad and richie gets braces and hates them but he gets the brightest color they had available cause he loves bright colors

also his style of comedy is so so rachel sennott ( look her up if u dont know who she is please shes hilarious ) which is why i feel like he gets into acting in like absurd comedies and it kinda sticks and eventually falls into actually acting

bill loves drawing the other losers when they r not paying attention and little sketches and doodles cover his school work ( the others think its so endearing )

on days when his stutter is really bad bill goes nonverbal but the losers include him easily cause he is honestly kinda an open book with his intentions and emotions so they always know what he wants

eddie hates walking long distances and is always asking for piggyback rides ( adding to the eddie should hate nyc but when anyone brings it up he gaslights them cause he has always wanted to live there agenda )

however eddie loves running and is always racing people because he knows he will win even though hes short ( richie hates it cause his legs are too long and he is really awkward and oddly slow when he tries to run. if he actually gets fast he almost always trips cause he is so clumsy and then eddie is way in front of him )

bev gives richie and bill amateur piercings full parent trap style and at least one of them gets infected. when they r older she convinces ben to let her pierce his ears. eddie hates it and is always like “i am not helping when it gets infected” but does anyway

she also makes friendship bracelets and the losers freak when they find out and they all are always wearing at least two

in some an au stan becomes an ornithologist but like just in an au where the losers dont split up during the time jump they buy him a bird like as soon as they move out of derry and it is stans favorite thing ever

stan is really good at hiding his emotions but he always stims when he is overwhelmed or upset and it is a clear giveaway. he has been doing it since he was really little and now cant stop

mike loves animals and shows off all the farm animals to the other losers and also def has a dog that eddie loves but pretends not to even though the dog also loves him

mike is also the loser who everyone goes to for advice for literally anything and has the ability to make anyone feel better like instantly the others have no idea how he does it

ben loves the act of designing buildings but was never that good at math so college was a little rough. also his interest in archeology started after he read percy jackson in middle school cuz annabeth loved archeology

he also slips into a country accent whenever he gets really comfortable and the losers think its amazing ( richies country accent is just him trying and failing to copy ben )

richie and ben light up the room when they are truly happy. richie because his happiness is loud and unavoidable and ben because his radiates off him in waves and spreads to those around him

is glad you're still smaller than him too, he got lucky when you were a small wolf

he got unlucky with all the energy though-

he wants one, ONE, quiet turtle pile and as soon as everyone thinks he's asleep you're rolling on your back and Leo and Donnie are whisper fighting and Mikey is trying to copy you while you both chirp and yip at eachother

why does everyone he knows that's his age have such high energy??

either way, he'd just gather everyone back up and pass out (if that fails, use everyone as a mattress for his upper body to keep them still)

Definitely enjoys sharing fish or swimming activities

Finds it intriguing! Sea wolves aren't very well known, especially in NYC, so having you here to observe is interesting

even if, y'know, you're not there to be observed and half your habits aren't related anyways-

He already has a designated pool and sandbox, due to 3 out of 4 living water and/or wanting to dig, and will gladly sit in the pool while you do whatever (wet sand is ick.)

will also release live minnows or fish on cleaning day (AFTER it's clean.) so everyone can go wild and hunt, but mostly you two though

(Leo is still young so his diet is mostly herbivorous, Raph doesn't chase things to hunt and Mikey doesn't even like fish)

Petting your fur, especially if it's soft but either way, quickly becomes a stim or action of comfort.

if something is too stressful or overwhelming he'll kinda wave you over and latch onto your arm.

Constant all nighters! Stargazing, sitting together, hanging out with him while he works on projects, video games. you name it he'll do it!

I didn't realize how important he was to my daily life until I knew who he really was. So many comfort vods that helped me cope with the trauma I've gone through. So much music I've loved and listened to for hours. I even have a fucking l'manberg flag on my wall. I have MULTIPLE vocal stims that are quotes from him.

As an abuse victim I feel so violently betrayed. I am so disappointed someone who I supported was inflicted similar things I have gone through onto other people. What a clown. I hope NYC fucking sucks for him. I hope he never gets to hurt someone again. I hope Shelby stays happy and healthy.

Like just now, I'm laying in my bed because it's 3am and I'm supposed to sleeping and then I see a mention of it on their blog and I staright up just started stimming so hard I ended up upside down on my bed (tbh i have no idea how it happened)

Update to this post: I’m trying to actively figure out whose windup they gave him.

See, they’ve been doing this for a while now. Most famously, Volo has Hisashi Iwakuma’s extremely recognizable windup, but Hop throws like Hideo Nomo and Kabu throws like Choji Murata.

Ingo and Emmet Are Both Autistic and I Will Die On This Hill, Thank You Very Much

Hey, remember over a year ago when I wrote that post screaming into the void about how Emmet is autistic? Consider this an updated version of that post, because I really should have talked about how they both are.

Disclaimer: I am an autistic adult who went undiagnosed until age 20 despite a blatant love of steam locomotives so I don’t know how I was missed considering I had the single most stereotypical interest on the planet. (I’ll touch on that later.)

Anyhow, I’ll try to keep this brief (and will likely fail), but let’s get into how both Ingo and Emmet are autistic, actually.

this goofball Emmet

Emmet’s the more obvious one, which is why I wrote the initial post linked above. He clearly scripts, has trouble containing his sheer excitement about things (read: Doubles) to the point of bothering other people, has no filter, will happily infodump about strategy or the MTA rules if asked, and in the manga has an arm-swinging walk that’s visibly a stim if you know it. 

The scripting is evident when you fight him by himself, as his dialogue often feels stiff (in Japanese it’s more informal to contrast with his hyper-formal brother), but the line that always seals the deal for me is actually this, when Ingo asks him to put in a few words before a Multi Battle:

A Brief Submas Primer

Did you just find out about the Pokemon franchise’s most popular battle facility since the Battle Frontier because of a plot point in Legends: Arceus? Were you curious because your friends were talking about some weird train man and you have no idea what they’re on about? Worry no longer, because this mole person has you covered.

What the hell is Submas?

The term ‘Submas’ is a portmanteau of their Japanese trainer class title, Subway Masters (in English releases, they got the trainer class title Subway Boss). Note that I’m saying “they” - there are, in fact, two of them, and they’re twins.

Ingo (Nobori) is the older of the two of them, specializing in Singles. He speaks overly politely/formally (more obvious in Japanese), has no indoor voice, will yell “BRAVO!” the second anything remotely good or exciting happens, has an overbearing sense of responsibility (it’s an older sibling thing, trust me), and became an accidental sex symbol on Pixiv (don’t ask, he probably doesn’t know either). He’s best known for being the “serious” one and notably has not been allowed to smile in-game to this day, although he was allowed in the anime and manga to be more expressive. He makes up for this by being very, very loud.

In case anyone is wondering what real-world train drama is going on, there’s this.

The tl;dr is that Amtrak wants to run two passenger trains per day round-trip (4 runs total) between Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana, restoring a service that hasn’t been there since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. CSX and Norfolk Southern, two major freight train companies, have resisted this idea, saying it would mess up their traffic, especially since Amtrak’s passenger trains would get priority (by government decree, believe it or not).

So now Amtrak is on Twitch streaming the line to prove the line isn’t too busy for them to run passenger trains.

I’m wheezing.

New York Headcanons!

He's Autistic. And he loves pressure stimming, which is why he tends to have a large coat on and his beanie.

He can speak Dutch because of New Netherlands. But that's about it. He's trying to learn Spanish and Chinese.

He loves Broadway and theatre as a whole. Most of the songs downloaded on his phone are from musicals.

Sometimes he and Florida will "rest" together. It's basically Florida laying on top of New York as they both listen to an audio book. It's an activity that calms both of them down.

Believe it or not, he is friends with Florida. He just acts like he isn't. But almost every winter he goes down. Not to a specific place, but to wherever Florida is hanging out that season.

NYC influences him slightly more than he thinks, but it's fine

He actually designs and makes his own clothes.

Around the starting of the nation, he argued a lot with this 'kid' about land claims. He was pissed off when a meeting came and that 'kid' turned out to be the new state of Vermont. It led to a fight

In the morning New York plays all the games. He does the crossword, he does the sudoku, the wordle, the numberle, the worldle, literally any and all variations of wordle and newspaper puzzle games. And he finishes them all too. He claims it's because it's early enough in the morning that nobody is around to bother him or his coffee.
