Spider!! Hola :)
So I know I came back way too early this time but with this whole situation we lost sight that 2 of the affected family members will be having their bdays.
So, if you don't feel comfortable with us asking so soon for a boost I do come asking for a fool proof apple pie recipe.
We're short on money so gifts are out of the question, but I could make them something tasty, and they have always wanted to try apple pie.
There are many recipes on the internet but I need one even I, who have never baked a pie, can bake.
Hope it's not a weird petition, I just remembered you have valuable experience in the recipes department.
Thanks for taking time to read our ask, please stay safe!
If you're looking for foolproof, I would actually skip over Apple pie as a starting point & I would instead go for an apple crisp.
A crisp is much easier to make - pastry can be really finicky if you aren't familiar with how to make it, whereas a crisp you just mix together all the good stuff that makes a tasty topping and you are good to go.
Easy Apple Crisp
Ingredients
1/2c butter, cold (do not take out to soften like you would for cookies)
6 apples (Granny Smith, Fuji, Pink Lady, or similar. NOT RED DELICIOUS.)
2T granulated sugar
2t pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon, if that's what you've got, but I find that using pumpkin pie spice is just... better... if you can)
2t lemon juice
1c light brown sugar, lightly packed
1c old-fashioned rolled oats
1c all-purpose flour (if using gluten-free flour, that's fine - you don't need to add xanthan gum for this recipe)
1/2c chopped walnuts or pecans
1/2c craisins (technically optional, but don't skip)
Pinch kosher salt
Equipment
2 medium-sized mixing bowls
Sharp knife
Cutting board
2 large spoons for mixing
1 small bowl for butter
Method
Wash hands thoroughly before beginning. You should do this every time you cook or bake, but especially this time, bc we will be handling a lot of the ingredients directly.
Cut butter into small cubes. Put into small bowl and place back into refrigerator to keep cold until needed.
Preheat oven to 350°. Spray 8" baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or grease with butter. Set aside.
Core and chop apples into large bite-sized pieces, about as big across as a nickel. Some people peel the apples. I don't. I think that's a lot of extra work to eliminate a great source of fiber & flavor. Place apples in one of the mixing bowls. Add lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1t of the pumpkin pie spice. Stir until combined, then pour into prepared baking dish.
If you prefer smaller bits, lightly chop the craisins. I like them full-sized, personally.
Put the rest of the ingredients except the butter - craisins, chopped nuts, brown sugar, flour, oats, 1t pie spice, salt - into the 2nd bowl and stir to combine.
Get the butter out of the fridge. Work it into the dry ingredients with your fingers until you have pea-sized crumbs. You can also use a fork or two knives for this or a pastry blender if you're very posh, but I really prefer using my hands. It's easier, and you get better texture, IMO.
Spread evenly over apple mix. Even it out a bit with the back of one of your mixing spoons. Don't leave any big gaps, but also don't press down on the mix at all.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple/sugar mix bubbles up at the corners of the dish.
Notes
This recipe is specifically written with round amounts to make it easy to size up or down! You can halve this or double it. Doubling it should make about enough to fill a 13 x 9 casserole dish.
Make sure to adjust your cooking time if you adjust the size!
If you have small oven-safe bowls or ramekins, you can divide this between those ramekins instead. If you do this, DON'T heap up the topping higher than the top of the dish. It gets very easy to spill.
Like technically you don't HAVE to use the nuts or craisins but ... why would you want to skip those? THE FLAVOR!!
If you really prefer raisins I guess you can use those. I hate raisins, and also craisins add a tart element which makes the dish really delightful and more complex IMO.
You can make a crisp like this with lots of different fruit! This recipe works pretty much exactly the same if you substitute in 4-5c of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, or pears. You may want to fiddle with the amount of white sugar or the spices, but yeah. Once you know this recipe, it's a good basic dessert recipe that you can use for a lot of fruit!
If using berries, make sure to rinse them very well with cold water and inspect for any spots of mold. Supermarket berries get moldly REALLY fast. If possible, buy berries from chain supermarkets the day you're going to use them, and check berries in the store. Open the containers, don't be shy. Nothing sucks more than wasting money from your grocery budget and realizing when you get home that you bought moldy berries.
Enjoy!

Easy Energy Balls
2 cups Old Fashioned rolled oats
½ cup creamy peanut butter (no sugar added, or any nut butter or sunflower butter for nut free)
⅓ cup honey (or agave syrup for vegan) OR 2 spoonfuls of Truvia Monk Fruit Spoonable Jar
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder (optional; we use this one)*
3 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Freeze the bowl for 5 minutes.
Roll the dough into 20 small balls, pressing the dough together with your hands. We used a 1 1/2-inch cookie scoop (#40) to make uniform balls. You can also make smaller balls if desired. (If the texture of your nut butter makes the dough very dry, add a little more honey or a few tablespoons milk of choice until you can press it together into a ball shape.) Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays - Have Some Cookies
I feel like sharing this recipe with everyone since I've gotten really positive feedback on them.
Oatmeal Craisin Cookies
Yes, "craisins" as in "dried cranberries." My partner and I aren't big raisin fans, but we do love craisins. If you're the opposite, you can easily swap them out, obviously.
I don't remember exactly how I cobbled this recipe together, I just know that I used at least two different sources.
Ingredients
1 cup salted butter, softened (you can use unsalted butter, but you may need to up the added salt content) 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed (light brown sugar will also work, but I think the lower molasses content will affect the texture and flavor) 1/2 cup white granulated sugar 2 large eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp ground cinnamon 2 cups old-fashioned oats (I don't recommend steel-cut or quick oats, but you do you) 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour (I've not tried this with any other type of flour, nor do I necessarily recommend using any non-glutenous or non-glutenous-like flour, as it will at the very least make the batter much looser than intended) 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 cup craisins
Directions
In separate bowl, whisk together eggs and vanilla extract, then add craisins. Let sit to soften craisins. In mixing bowl (stand mixer is HIGHLY recommended as this dough is very thick), mix butter and sugars. Add egg mixture to mixing bowl and mix. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix. Let dough chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes (this keeps them from spreading too much once in the oven; if you want to chill the dough for more than an hour, I recommend rolling it into balls beforehand as the colder the dough gets, the tougher it is to work with, though you can also take the dough out of the fridge and let it warm up on the counter for 30 minutes before trying to work with it). Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll dough into balls by hand (this helps pack the oats and craisins into the cookies so they're not jutting out all over the place once baked; I use a 1" cookie ball scoop just to keep the sizes more or less consistent, then properly roll them before placing them on a cookie sheet; also I recommend wearing gloves for this part, as the dough is VERY sticky and I can't guarantee your hands won't feel like they're coated in butter for hours afterwards no matter how well you wash them). Bake 10-12 minutes (I usually put them in for 11 minutes or a little over, but the exact time depends on your oven; if the dough balls are straight from the fridge, they may need a bit longer; on the upside, there's so much sugar in these that it doesn't hurt if they get a little dark on the edges!).
Notes:
These come out of the oven VERY SOFT, and you might mistake them for not being done - trust me, they're most likely perfectly done, and any longer will result in an unpleasantly crunchy (if not outright burnt) cookie. If you're really unsure about how long your oven needs to bake these, start off doing small batches and let your "test" batch cool down before trying to move them off the parchment paper. If they're still gooey after 5~10 minutes, add another 30-60 seconds to your baking time, but most likely they'll have firmed up enough to at least pick up without them falling apart on you.
I use these "air bake" cookie sheets, which work wonderfully well for these cookies, plus baking parchment; I've not tried making them on regular baking sheets or without parchment, so cooking times may need to be adjusted for that.
Even with chilling the dough , the cookies do still spread out, so make sure to leave a good amount of space between each ball. This recipe makes quite a lot of cookies (about 69 if using a 1" cookie scoop), so depending on your setup, you'll have to work in batches. I try to get all the dough rolled out into balls before I even start baking them, so it's quick and easy to swap them out. We keep our house on the cooler side, so it's not usually a problem, but if your house (or your kitchen) is on the warmer side, you may want to keep the balls refrigerated while they await their turn in the oven.
Lastly, I highly recommend stacked cooling racks for these. Because of how soft they are fresh out of the oven, I'll slide the parchment paper off the cookie sheets and onto a cooling rack with a finer mesh, then transfer the cookies to the stacked cooling racks once they've firmed up a bit (about 2~3 minutes) leaving the finer mesh rack available for the next batch. The reason why I recommend the stacked racks is that, again, this recipe makes a LOT of cookies, so the stacked racks are a good space-saver! Especially since these take a while to cool down completely at room temp (I've not tried chilling them directly post-bake - I think that might affect the texture), and they do need to be COMPLETELY cooled before they can be packed away (otherwise they warp and smoosh into each other - even when completely cooled, they'll stick to each other a bit, but they come back apart easily enough).
Have fun baking cookies! They may not really be "holiday" cookies, but this recipe is my gift to the internet void, so merry happy and all that jazz~

Easy Homemade Dog Treats!
Tumblr media
All it takes is banana, peanut butter, and oats and you can make these cute cookies for your pup, or for a doggy friend of yours. Not only are these easy to make, but they are so much more affordable than store-bought treats and dogs LOVE them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Easy Homemade Dog Treats!
Servings: 40 (Makes about 40 treats depending on the cookie cutter size)
Ingredients
2 cups oats (old fashioned, 1-minute oats, or instant) plus more if needed- see step 3
2 medium ripe bananas
½ cup natural peanut butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 300F (150C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the oats to a food processor and grind until they reach a fine powder. (If you do not have a food processor, see the recipe notes for other options). Add the bananas and peanut butter and blend until a sticky dough is formed.
Remove from the food processor and roll out on a lightly floured surface. (Use whole wheat flour, more ground oats, or another dog-safe flour that you have on hand). I used a heart cookie cutter to cut out the treats but you could use any cookie cutter, or just cut them into squares with a knife or pizza cutter.
Lay the treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the treats are puffed up a bit, dry and dark brown on the bottoms, (they will still feel soft when first removed from the oven). The treats will get a bit more firm once they are cool but will still be a slightly softer dog treat. Let cool before giving one to your pup.
Store in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or I like to store them in my freezer which makes them firmer and makes them stay fresh a long time.
Notes
If you do not have a food processor, you can still make these treats. Grind the oats up in a blender or coffee grinder, then add the ground oats to a bowl with the peanut butter and mashed banana and mix to make a dough. Or you could buy oat flour and use that instead. You will need less oat flour as it is denser, so start with 1 cup and add more as needed.

introducing: anti-hangry cookies
Tumblr media
so i have 3 problems going for me right now when it comes to food. 1) i am on meds that kill my appetite, so i forget to eat until other physical symptoms manifest, and even then it is difficult to make myself actually consume something. 2) my sense of taste never recovered after i had covid, so my desire to snack has gone way down and i no longer find most things enjoyable or fulfilling to eat. 3) even though i am overweight, the part of my brain that sees items 1+2 as a good thing that could make me lose weight is currently gagged and straightjacketed because she is crazypants and keeps trying to kill me. i am a recovering anorexic in the same way some people are recovering alcoholics; it's something that i have to actively monitor in myself even years after "finishing" treatment." i MUST eat, or i will spiral.
by about 4pm i am literally weak with a hunger i cannot feel, my mind foggy and my whole body basically vibrating with hanger, and fighting tooth and nail to make myself eat something, anything, please. enter the anti-hangry cookie.
i originally made these when i was nursing to get my milk supply up (they are technically called "lactation cookies"); i don't know if they actually helped with that, but damn were they great to have around because they're the super rare combination of taste good and good for you and easy to eat that is absolutely essential in those bleary early days of parenthood. turns out that kind of snack is necessary outside of that time period, as well.
the good: rolled oats, full of whole grain, fiber, vitamins, and even some protein. brewers yeast, with more good vitamins and protein, plus good for the tummy. flax seed, B vitamins, omega 3s, fiber.
the fantastic: basically the best chocolate chip oatmeal cookie ever. there's a hint of cinnamon, and somehow the brewers yeast and flax seed only enhance that flavor rather than making it taste too, well, healthy lol. also you cannot taste the coconut oil, so if that's not your favorite flavor, fear not: you get the benefits without that sunscreen taste.
INGREDIENCE
3c old-fashioned rolled oats 1 1/2c all-purpose flour 5 tbs brewers yeast 3 tbs ground flax seeds 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 3/4c (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp 1/4c unrefined coconut oil 1 1/2c sugar 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, room temp 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 bag dark chocolate chips
optional: 1/2c peanut butter, SO GOOD
whisk together oats, flour, yeast, flax, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
beat butter, coconut oil, and sugar (and pb, if using) together until fluffy, then add the egg and yolk and beat to combine. add the vanilla and beat again. gradually add in the dry ingredients on low speed until just mixed. it will be a bit crumbly. then mix in the chocolate chips.
scoop the dough into 1-inch rounds (i use a cookie scoop and then roll them in my hands). rolling into a ball is actually fairly important here, since otherwise they'll crumble apart a fair bit in the oven; rolling smushes them into a delightfully dense cookie. (obvs go ahead and skip the rolling if crumbly cookies are your jam.) place on a baking sheet about 2" apart and bake at 350 for 10-14 minutes.
the original recipe says it makes 20-22 cookies but that is BONKERS because i can easily get 36 good-sized cookies out of this. i typically bake a dozen and freeze the rest (in ball form, don't throw a big lump of dough into your freezer), and then bake them for 12-16 minutes straight from the freezer.
Tumblr media
here's the remaining ~2 dozen dough balls in my freezer. confession: i actually prefer the ones baked from frozen to those made from the fresh dough! they stay taller in the oven and spread less, creating a delightful cookie experience that is somehow dense and fluffy at the same time.
try one in the shower. just do it. shower cookie is best cookie

Candy Cookies
or I realized I need more fiber in my diet but I want it to be easy
these taste like hot cocoa and oatmeal
I can make a batch start to finish in less than 20 minutes including the dishes and I'm not very fast.
Recipie:
1 1/2 c Sugar
4 tsp Cocoa Powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c Milk(or half and half)
1 c Butter
Mix that together in a 2 qt saucepan over medium heat and get it to a rolling boil (it doesn't stop bubbling when stirred).
Keep stirring and boiling for 2 1/2 minutes.
Mix in:
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
4 1/2 c Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
Then drop them as cookie shaped blobs or spread it to be cut later on a piece of parchment paper or foil (they will stick horribly if you don't use parchment or foil). Chill in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours, then cut them apart if you didn't make cookie shapes. Enjoy.
Notes (and troubleshooting):
Because it's candy making you can't double the recipie, but this one is forgivving enough that you can cut the recipie, just don't boil quite as long.
As a kid my mom and I always ate the goop warm without chilling, 1/4 batch is good for this (only boil 1 1/2 minutes).
If they're too crumbly after chilling to cut apart you may need to boil them less. At sea level 2 minutes is likely plenty. Also it helps to cut them before they get all the way set.
If they're too sticky you didn't boil them enough or you didn't chill them enough.
The fiber comes from the fact that humans can't digest most of uncooked oats (with our own enzymes) so it's a lot of pre-biotic fiber (resistant starch that microbes can eat).

soft days - S.F.K
Tumblr media
sam x fem!reader
2.4k words, minors DNI
WARNINGS: oral sex (fem rec), unprotected sex
pls lmk if i missed any!
When you had awoken, you rolled over, seeing your fiance, already wide awake staring at the view outside your window. When he realized you were awake, he smiled at you, placing a kiss to your lips.
“Good morning, lover.” he softly spoke, not wanting to ruin the energy of the morning. You let a hand brush through his messy morning hair, slightly combing it out with your fingers. He looked so pretty in the newly dawned light. He looked quite literally like an angel on earth.
The sun was causing his skin to glow and his vibes to thrive. You cherish mornings like this, when you could lay in silence with each other, just soaking in each other's company.
You wrapped yourself in Sam’s arms, your legs wrapping around each other. You could’ve stayed like this all day if you could.
“I was thinking, can we walk Rosie and Salem today? Then stop by the coffee shop and then the pet shop and get some of those treats that Cosi really likes.” He said, closing his eyes, hiding them from the light.
“That sounds like fun.” You smiled, looking over his features.
You nuzzled into him even closer. He was so warm, all of the time. He was the polar opposite of you and you two fit like pieces in a puzzle. Sam wrapped his arms around you and you stayed like that for at least another 30 minutes until Rosie came in to give you good morning lovings.
While Sam said good morning to Rosie, you got out of bed and gave your Cosi good morning kisses. She was old, almost as old as you, but she was your baby and you’d love her until the end of your time. You woke her up from the doggie bed that was placed next to yours. She did a big stretch and followed you to the living room. She slowly trudged behind you as you opened the sliding glass door to the backyard. As she did her business, your beloved Salem came to give you her daily “hello mom!”
You gave her, her very deserved pats and loves while slowly getting ready for your walk. You put on some sweatpants, a cropped tank top, a sweater and a baseball cap. You put your favorite sneakers on and walked out of your walk in closet. Sam was ready too, he had on a pink long sleeve, sweatpants just like you, a fanny pack and some slides. You tried your best to not laugh at the fanny pack, he would always complain to you when you did. He called it fashionable.
“Ready to go?” He asked, putting Rosie’s leash and collar on. You nodded while you put Salem’s on. As you walked out the door, you gave Cosi a kiss to her forehead.
“You be good, Cosi, we’ll be back.” You cooed.
She laid on the doggie bed you had in the living room and you were off. You admired your garden of different flowers and plants, laughing when one of the dogs would stop to sniff them.
You and Sam took your time on your walk, taking in the sights of the city and pointing out different cars Sam thought were cool.
You eventually reached your local coffee shop. It was your favorite, they were animal friendly and gave you a free pup cup for each coffee you bought when you brought your pets in. The staff had known you two very well, you two always came in on saturday mornings with Salem and Rosie.
“Hi guys!! The usual?” The barista asked, getting ready to put the order in on her computer.
“Yup.” You smiled at her, watching her coo at the dogs.
You sat at a table as you waited for your drinks. The view was nice from the coffee shop window.
“I love days like this.” Sam spoke over the lower murmur of the other people in the shop.
“Me too, they’re my favorite.” you responded, petting Salem on the head.
Soon enough, the barista sat down your drinks and two pup cups for your babies.
“Here’s a caramel iced latte with oat milk for you and an iced americano with salted caramel creme. And as per usual, two pup cups for the girls.”
You both thanked her, taking a couple sips of your drinks before allowing the dogs to lick up the whipped cream. Once the dogs were done with their treats, you threw the trash away and picked up your drinks.
You started to walk to the pet store when you saw a group of three girls walking towards you, giggling into their hands.
“Um- so sorry to like totally invade you but we were wondering if we could get a picture?” One of them asked, holding her phone up with shaking hands.
“Oh my god! Yeah of course!” Sam answered with a smile.
“Everyone get in!” You said, holding the phone. You took the picture and the girls squealed.
“I love you and the band so much we’ve been listening forev- is that a ring? Oh my god are you guys-” another girl started to speak before noticing the rings on your guys fingers.
Oh shit.
“Oh- these? They’re just- just promise rings really.” Sam tried to play it off. No one was supposed to know yet.
“Don’t worry, we can keep a secret.” They laughed. They all gave you hugs before parting ways.
You both would have rather not talked about it, so you talked about this and that until you made it to the pet store. It would have been a short trip but Sam wanted to look at all the fish they had in the back of the store. You, being the sucker for Sammy that you are, couldn’t deny him.
You had fun looking at the different fish, seeing the colorful ones, the black goldfish and even some that would glow under blacklight. Salem and Rosie started to get bored in the store, whining every so often and huffing. You finally checked out and got the treats for your baby back home.
The walk home was much shorter but by now it was almost 12:30. You didn’t have plans for the day but you did want to be able to relax in the comfort of your bed most of the day.
You were finally home and were greeted by Cosi, her little paws tapping against the floorboard when she noticed you were finally home was one of your favorite things ever. You sat your drink down, grabbing the treats out of Sam’s fanny pack. You gave 3 or 4 of them to her, smiling when you saw just how happy they made her.
“Hey babe! I’m going to do skin care, wanna come do it with me?” You heard your fiance shout from the bathroom. When you heard the question, you smiled wider than you ever had before.
“I’m coming!!” You responded, running to the bathroom.
Sam had some of your favorite products out. You did his skin care and he did yours. He placed the creams on so delicately, not wanting to get any in your hair, or even worse, your eyes. You guys moisturized, exfoliated, cleansed, anything you had in your bathroom cabinets. You took goofy pictures of Sam with face masks on, almost immediately posting them to your private snapchat story.  You both laughed at the stupid comments that his brother made in response to the post. Everything felt perfect.
When you finally put your last lotion on, you were sat on the counter by the sink. You brought Sam in for a kiss when you finished rubbing in his lotion. Your arms wrapped around his neck and his went straight to your waist.
What was supposed to be an innocent kiss, turned to much more. You were pulling Sam closer, feeling as if he was too far even though his body was flush against yours. You couldn’t stop yourself from grinding onto him. You’ve had sex almost every night since he’d got home from tour and it never ever seemed to be enough. You couldn’t get enough of him.
Every bit of him was captivating your senses. You were breathing him, seeing him, tasting him. He was fucking perfect in every way.
You were so in your head about him that you barely realized that he was carrying you into your shared bedroom. You were dropped onto the bed and he removed your sweatpants, along with your panties within seconds. He couldn’t help himself from diving into your cunt. He closed his eyes as he put his hands over your thighs, scratching at the skin below his fingertips.
Your hips were fucking themselves up into his mouth as a hand flew into his hair, pulling and tugging on it.
It was soft despite the energy in the room telling you otherwise. The vibe was heavy and dark but Sam felt as if it was just right to go slow. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head before closing. Your mouth was left hanging open as you let out soft moans. He barely gained speed, just enough to push you over the edge. Although he’d been down on you for less than ten minutes, you were already so close, you were somehow still sore from the previous night of sinful actions.
“Don’t fight it, sweet girl, let it happen.” He said, looking up at you through his eyelashes. You did as he said and let your pleasure wash over you. It felt like heaven, you were in complete awe.
When you came down from your high, you were dizzy, needing to catch your breath. As you watched Sam kick off the lower half of his clothes, you felt more and more needy. You could already feel the sinfully delightful stretch of his cock.
You almost cried as you watched Sam’s cock hit against his stomach as it was set free from his boxers.
“You love it that much? You’ll whine just seeing my cock? Tell me, baby. Tell me how much you love it.” He ordered as he slowly pushed into you.
“I love it so much. It’s so perfect for me. Fuck it’s so good!” The longer you went on, the louder you got due to him speeding up and hitting deeper inside you.
“You feel so perfect around me. So warm and tight around my cock.” He grunted.
He looked fucking beautiful, his hair was sticking to his face and his eyebrows were furrowed, god was he a sight to see. He buried his head into your neck, softly kissing and biting at it. You took the opportunity and lifted his shirt up, leaving scratches on his back. He moaned out particularly loud when you did so.
You smiled at the action, doing it once more.
“Shit don’t do that or- fuck- I’m going to cum.” He said between moans.
“Do it for me Sammy, cum for me.” You whispered in his ear, you being on the verge once again.
He listened to you and let his cum paint the inside of your cunt.
“Oh fuuuck!!” He moaned out, trying to get as close as possible to you. You were experiencing your own orgasm, this one being much more powerful than the last one you had. You were seeing stars and the only thing keeping you grounded was Sam pushing his body up against yours.
You finally came down when Sam had pulled out and watched his cum spill out of you. It was one of his biggest guilty pleasures.
He helped you clean up, getting you in new pajama pants and back into bed for a much needed nap. When Sam got to his side of the bed, he cuddled into you, breathing your perfume in.
‘I love you so much, baby. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” He softly mumbled to you.
“I love you most, Sammy.”
“Not even possible, love.”

added the couple people who asked to be tagged, and as always if you want to be added or removed from a tag list let me know. :) Now here’s some grumpy pining Dwarf King for you.
“Oh for Mahal’s sake how did I choose the most stubborn rock on this entire damn continent.” The muttered words through grit teeth had Balin, who was pretending to not be awakened by the noise of rock being scraped once again as you sat up on watch, in a fight to not laugh.
For three weeks now since Thorin mid skirmish with some goblins had lost a hidden pouch with beads apparently very special to him on the end of a braid severed by a gnarled and blackened blade you stole time on this task. Hours he and his kin spent searching for it as he chose to make camp there for that task and to rest you and his cousin Dwalin who had taken injuries to your left side at the sudden attack that knocked you both off your ponies that also needed time to be calmed.
But the nephews of said mournfully grumpy King who couldn’t seem to look your way since, unless to issue an order of watch times or ensure you had your helping of food each meal to go with the dry spots if any that could be found in this rainy leg of the Journey, had shared a secret with you. Or at least a fact he was not boastful of.
Not three days later a small stumble had led to five of the Company rolling down a rocky hill sending the King to help secure them after. A task that had broken another relic from his old home, a blade forged by his grandmother now without a hilt. A lost relic you couldn’t recall the design of so you were free styling and intended to fashion a new hilt to the blade he had tossed into a heap of rocks out of frustration at the fact of yet another loss.
“Ha!” You were heard saying by the now also awakened Bofur, who buried his face in his arms to not be heard chuckling at the back end of the battle when the Valar Mahal apparently had heard your battle himself and found it honorably intended and let the rock give way to your effort. Now you just had to secure the two decorative flower pins you had managed to make while on a helpfully lengthy market stop a few weeks back in the Smith stall after some very effective begging and puppy dog eyes to go with a silver coin that most likely would have done the trick anyways sans the amusement for the Smith.
“My watch,” Bifur said with a grin as he saw you tie up the spare blanket you had bought at that stall to wrap around the hidden blade he had a guess what you might be up to with the old thing. “You know your bearings, even in the dark?” Another few silver coins had gained another leg of this plan and with a nod and swap of funds he saw you ease off the rocky ledge you had been sitting on to creep out of camp to achieve your main goal.
 ..
Two taps on the nose when pokes to the armored chest plate and arm braces didn’t do the trick later and the grumpy King opened his eyes to land upon you. Behind you however were the smiling Company grouped up making him ask, “No one is missing I am assuming it is a stranger then who has died.”
“It’s your birthday grumpykins. Come on, got a special breakfast for you.”
As he sat up he sighed and groaned out at the move of a bruised arm and side still left from the rescue on that rock slide, “Oh yes, boiled oats and a slice of dried salted ham, mighty meal to be woken early for. Now, who is dead?”
“Ugh,” you said and turned to show off a wooden crate Fili and Kili had uncovered for you with wide grins of their own. “We got eggs, sausage and I managed to haggle some flour and other fixings to make pancakes, not very much so very small pancakes so everyone gets some. And bacon, again, not much bacon, so just a cube each, but bacon.”
“How did you afford this?” He asked at a loss for how else to take such a bold gesture for him out of the bunch.
“Traded one of my ruby mirrors,” you said and he let out a puff of air in shock as you had shared those were very special to you as a first big price item you’d bought after your first job. “I have two left, biggest one also landed some sugar cubes for the ponies, so they get to party too. Now, gifts!”
You stood and his eyes followed you in Bombur’s move to ready the food out of eagerness with Oin right at his side to not waste any of it. “Our kin do not celebrate birthdays.”
“Well you’re celebrating this one.” You said and he had to let out a chuckle. Resituating his legs to accept the first of the hand carved tokens from each of his proud kin who wished to help make this day special. Not just for the King but for the one who wanted him to have a great day even if there was a deluge outside the spacious onion shaped tent you had brought with you complete with stove, chimney and outer tarp large enough for the ponies to stay dry as well.
You were at the end of the line and he could only grin in accepting the rolled blanket he had clearly seen you not use since bartering quite admirably down the outrageous price to something more tolerable. He had loaned his out several nights since leaving the Shire, but he had to wonder as to why you waited for now to gift it to him if he was the intended user. “A blanket, very useful.”
“To hide the real gift, yes.” You said and his brows opened as you unrolled it to make his jaw drop at seeing the blade he had angrily thrown then tried to return and find now with a new hilt in a material he couldn’t quite place. “Now that is the most stubborn rock on the continent, should not ever so much as dare to break.” Weakly in disbelief he let out a chuckle and took hold of the rocky grip that was a bit big in his palm. “Sized it to Balin’s hand, might be a bit big, but the acorn pommel came out just right to counterbalance the look. Couldn’t remember how it looked before, so just went square with some little angry battle ravens.”
He chuckled again whispering as he turned it over to see the lines of birds carved into each side around the touching flower pins he knew must have taken care and patience to wedge through to such perfection even if it wasn’t exactly fit to his palm. But some shaving of the corners and it would do nicely to not harm the birds. “Battle ravens.”
“See that ones got an axe.” You said with a grin and a point to one in particular.
“Thank you, I was quite heartbroken to see it was gone when I returned for it. I do not recognize this rock though, where did you find it?”
“It was in the wagon the goblins had. Everyone was going to leave the rocks behind, but they stole them so have to be useful for something. Might make a dagger or two for myself if I am up for a good month of nightly battle again.
“A month?” He asked in disbelief.
“Hardest rock ever, took three weeks to drill the hole to fit to the end of your blade.”
“Hmm.” He said in a pondering hum and then had to chuckle as a lit candle was produced over breakfast for him to make a wish.
All he could wish for was a chance to be yours though. Dwarves held sacred beads they carve upon adulthood for their Ones, beads he lost in that Goblin attack. Thoughtful as this was and a great burst of wind to his sails to cross this stormy pass still not even to the first of Elven lands that lay between him and his homeland it was not a blatant offer of courtship beyond question. A kindness in a rough patch, he kept repeating to himself.
All the same it was the best breakfast he could ask for, though nine miles outside of the rough rainy stretch of land when they reached the next town a removal of your wet hat and hood had smiles and waves mingled with calls of familiarity and excitement you had brought friends with you. Nine miles both ways through rough weather and back again before sunrise to gladly and tirelessly wish him entrance to a new year only muddled things more for what the intentions might be.
...
“Rivendell, let’s go to Rivendell,” you muttered helping to hoist the two wheeled wagon your pony had been pulling you commandeered from the long dead goblins holding not just your rocks but also the bags of the others. The ponies had been led off by Gandalf’s horse supposedly in the night, and now terribly lost on the way to the Misty Mountain hidden Elven refuge every Durin held immense displeasure at being inside the orc infested halls of Moria.
“I had no intention of drawing us here, Young Miss.” the Wizard said lowly as his staff lit the path ahead faintly to hopefully not warn any dark foe of your place here on the treacherous crossing ahead of the kingdom that will take weeks to get to the other side of it.
“Oh you don’t have a lot of intentions about a lot of things.” You muttered again driving your shoulder a bit more into the wagon as Bifur’s foot slipped and it neared sliding backwards at you.
“And just what might that mean?”
Fili chimed up in the start of a few hijinks this week alone that Bilbo carried on sharply only driving the Wizard to huff and furrow his brows in shared irritation of the bad luck of this week. Not two halls later you froze inside a long pillared stretch at the sudden drop of a helmet at your side that turned everyone around as you muttered, “Soon as I look up it’s gonna pounce, maybe if we ignore it, pretend it’s a turtle dropped by a bird.” Internal means to be amused at the notion died in the sudden sea of screeches that had the Company in full sprint.
Durin’s Bane however cut off that sprint and over a helmet your foot moved only to drop into a hole that had you collapse and cause the wagon to tilt and spill across your back and onto the ground around you to let bags and stolen rocks alike spill out. Bloodying your nose and cheek really well in the process on a broken shield left in the dust stained again with the product of the blow.
Another roar and bodies turning had hands clench around weapons in hand as only Bilbo, who was helping you to pull the wagon fumbled a grip to get you up in Fili and Kili’s leap over it to get around and hasten the task to keep fleeing. Just two steps and as belongings were thrown back in the hoisted up wagon the Balrog was within distance for his flaming whip to be useful. Reflex alone was the excuse when the hefty rock in your palms was shouldered and hurled up at the beast’s head. Not to hit it but well earning a gaps to be chomped whole between his jaws before damage could be done.
“He ate my rock!” You squeaked as Kili tossed the final rock back into the wagon to Bilbo’s whole body slam into your side to get you moving again so the brothers could pull the wagon to at least get to the armed rest of the Company and Wizard amongst them who had yet to do much but anger the beast to follow you here.
Low and pained a grunt came from the Balrog causing Gandalf to pause in his attack before he slammed his staff to form a bubble of light to protect the Company as the Balrog exploded into a sea of living flames that raced throughout the kingdom. Lost to a roar of the ocean of flames was your scream in being folded into a tight hug by the brothers that dropped the wagon to try and at least shield you and Bilbo from the flames if possible by their natural Dwarfly ways that had them hardy to many forms of heat, including the odd accidental explosion under the right conditions, like several layers to burn off, as they both had.
Quiet and cold soon washed over the cowering huddled Company all around Gandalf who held the barrier of light still. Though you were the first upon release to speak up and ask even if to yourself, “They explode?! The rocks explode?!”
Thorin however just outside the barrier rose up, releasing Ori from the huddle he formed with Dwalin to save the youngest of the Company at the sight of the brilliant shimmer on the hilt of his reforged blade he dropped to do so. “Gandalf, let loose the bubble.”
“Pardon?” The Wizard asked and moved with Thorin to watch and allow the King to lift his blade by the sharp end so he could see the remnants of the war ravens and acorn pommel exposing pure Mithril underneath the crude dark layer.
“Mithril.” He whispered now recalling tales of crude Mithril chunks his elders had shared of their commonplace appearance used to transport it long distances from this long lost kingdom to other Dwarf lands. Then said louder and to you, “The rocks are pure Mithril.”
“Does Mithril explode?” You asked back shrilly still in shock at the massive blast.
“Only the shell around it. Extreme caution is taken to chisel it free, far from heat of forges or it can cause blasts enough to empty an entire kingdom.”
“Okay, so if we find another of those we just hurl another rock at it. Add that to the battle plan booklet Ori.” You said and he nodded and turned a little bit to find his bag still strapped to his side to bring out his log of the Journey do far.
“For now Lass, let’s fix this gash of yours,” Oin spoke up hurrying to your side with his healing kit he found with haste at the tricking blood still flowing from it.
Now perfectly shaped to his grip Thorin could only grin to himself at the new weight to his gift now worth far more than he’d earned in the decades since being ousted by that dastardly dragon. On top of that you were the one to decide to bring the rocks as well, now a hefty haul atop any goods procured from this venture if this were to succeed.
Rivendell eventually was found and in the month of recuperating two taps to your shoulder had woken you on your birthday, out of the post Balrog shimmering Mithril clump a blade was made just for you by means of the Elven forge, wrapped in a new blanket as well. And through the pain of your bruised and swollen face you smiled in saying, “Battle Ravens,” with the amused King who adored that you were so pleased with his craftsmanship. “This one has a little bow and helmet.”
And he could only beam brighter as now with matching hilts to your unique blades the surplus of Mithril was forged with gems he kept on his person for cases of emergencies in bartering for matching courtship beads. Braided into both of your hair to be displayed both inside and out of this kingdom when you were mended and able to travel again without his concern for any lingering side effects or risk of infection of the facial wound to heal scar free by Lord Elrond’s assurance after he had helped to tend to it upon arrival.
...
“We have the perfect battle plan,” you said lifting up one of the rocks after jolting yourself out of Tauriel’s grip to be between the glaring Kings.
“A rock?” Tauriel asked and Thranduil straightened up recognizing it at once due to his age and kin’s former trade agreement for Mithril from Durin’s kin when Moria was still thriving.
“I am listening.” He said stunning the 700 year old Elleth her adopted older brother Legolas would explain fuller to her later at his own vague remembrance of what it might be.
 .
One break into the floating city by means of a borrowed barge left on the shore for a brief moment and a theft of a giant horn the Elves lacked possession of to be loud enough later and Smaug was on the chase off to the East over growth free hills. Down into the valley below by means of a giant slingshot and his jaws clamped around the rock launched at him off a crude trebuchet decimated in the body to follow.
Silence broke for the town post frenzy of the beast and their own populace could only hear the faint squeak of your loud shout to the Dwarves covering you fully behind a Mithril shelter of shields banded together for cover, “No less terrifying the second time around!” Gaining loud laughter from not just them but the Elves who dared to come and help transport the supplies for the battle plan.
Celebration died as you asked, “Laketown’s closer to Erebor isn’t it?” A collective curse sounded and you all started the sprint off towards the mountain.
Even natural born sprinters the Dwarves soon lost sight of you and the Elves that came close to catching your speedy self. Over the hills and open plane they only could walk right up to the lost peak to find a collection of groaning Men on the frigid ground in varied manners of injury a short distance from the closed front door meaning only one hopeful thing, you had beaten the Men here and sealed them.
“Lass?” Dwalin asked using his axe to tap on the smaller hidden door inside the massive larger set for travelers on foot without wagon, steed, cattle or carriage.
The sliding small door opened to show you with another bloody nose freeing relieved exhales from the tired Company to hear you say, “You’re gonna have to push the door, think I dislocated my shoulder getting the bigger ones shut.”
“There is a crank system on the far wall, Lass,” Gloin said.
“One, never lived here, two, do you know how dark it is in here even with our glowing buddies here?” You said making them chuckle and have them grip the door to get it open with the help of the Elves inside. Except for one who was trying to stem a rather deep gash on the non-dislocated shoulder you spoke of on your stained self they could only chuckle at the mention of not knowing if the various blood stains on you were all yours or not.
Shouts from the Men outside when the gates were sealed again were only answered by their being the ones to bloody the future Queen of Erebor and to flee before justice would be sought for the injury. Even if you were the one to slam them into the ground with very little assistance from the Elves who simply reached you in time to help with the doors. Gloin with hold of the shimmering chunk of Mithril let it down to help his cousins get to lighting the lanterns on the walls.
.
“Now that’s just terribly managed and inefficient.” Was what you said to break the awe striking group stare at the hoard after the break of time to feed the Company and let you be cleaned and patched up by the convoy of Elves with Thranduil and his son at the helm. They looked to you as you looked up at Gandalf, “What’s the extent of your magic?”
“Pardon me?”
“Could you magic up a few thousand buckets, for example?”
“Yes, I can manifest buckets.”
“Good!” You said and looked at Thorin, “Offered plan b, you said the forge needs to be warmed up, we need to search this monster sea of gold and we can get two Balrogs with one exploding rock.” Instantly he was smiling as you explained what he imagined you might be grasping at, “Gandalf Magic’s us up a sea of buckets and lights the forges with his staff and you all configure a pulley system to the forge. Melt the gold into whatever and you can always melt it back down to coin again later, and we find the arkenstone when the gold is gone and it’ll be so much more efficient.”
Practically vibrating with excitement the Dwarves were up for a new building project in their old home and leapt at the chance to Thorin’s, “Brilliant plan. Gandalf, if you wouldn’t mind?”
 ..
“And what of my people! You steal from us then bar is from entrance to this mountain!” The Master of Laketown shouted up at Thorin on the overlook with the Dwarves.
One of the other older Men shouted, “And you stole my Grandfather’s horn!”
Out of the smaller door you hurried to that man with horn in hand he grabbed with one hand then looked at the second hand your speedy self collected to leave a handful of coins in his palm, “And we thank you for your donation to the cause. Your ancestor would be proud of your confidence in us!” The second sentence you said mid race to get back into the door that was slammed and locked again causing the befuddled men around the horse mounted Master and the man now smiling at the payment calming at least his frustration.
“What of the rest of us?! Our people starve while you live in splendorous gold filled halls?!”
He continued to argue as Bard strolled to the smaller door and knocked on it causing you to open the slot a crack he hunched to see through, “What if my barge you tied me up to borrow?” Out of the slot a fat golden raven with a sword tucked underneath its wing all of five pounds had him look at the odd offering. “What is that?”
“Battle raven. We‘ve had some trouble finding the arkenstone in the hoard, had to melt the gold, you can trade this for coin later when we melt it back after the stone is found.” Lowly he chuckled and accepted the bird enabling your arm to draw back in so you could snap the slot shut again and he could turn to head back to the others. He did pause as you slid it open another crack to add, “Sorry about tying you up as well. Barge looked empty. Make a very convincing mast.”
“Apology accepted,” he replied mainly to himself pocketing the statuette in his best pocket so he would be sure not to lose it.

Plz do share what milk/oat proportions you use + are you using cooked oats? Like oatmeal? Looking for a way to get myself to actually eat breakfast lmao
hm i just eyeball it but for a medium size it's probably somewhere around 80g/1 cup oats and 300 ml milk. i don't cook them but i would if i wanted a warm drink. does cooking oats even do anything at all besides heat them up? the oats are the type that would be called old fashioned rolled oats in america i believe but i don't think it really matters. plus random fruits and whatever, honey, caramel sauce, nutella, anything. it should be a bit thinner than you ultimately want it because the oats soak up the milk and thicken within like 20 min or so, if it's already very thick once everything is blended it'll get porridgelike and very slow to drink lol. def solved the breakfast issue for me, it's way less annoying to just drink a shake i made the night before than make and eat some sort of sincere breakfast and the oats in there make it successfully filling. take the gruelpill!

My gluten free, eggless Nutella oatmeal cookies kinda melted in the oven, prolly because I added too much applesauce, and took forever to cook and solidify. Still good tho, even if they look like crap.
Tumblr media
[Image Description: a mass of toasted oatmeal cookie that has been haphazardly divided with a spatula after flattening and combining together in the oven. End I.D.]
Recipe
Half cup margarine with a little salt, or if you're a rich prick enough to afford salted butter use that.
One cup brown sugar
Half a cup of Nutella, or roughly that. I didn't really have enough for it but whatevs it still worked.
One-fourth cup applesauce. I actually used double that, because applesauce is what replaces the egg and you always add an extra egg to gluten free baked goods, but I think that was too much moisture and why they spread out so thinly. So I'd try for just one-fourth cup.
One cup all purpose gf flour (I used King Arthur's All Purpose GF)
One cup gluten free rolled/old fashioned oats
One teaspoon baking soda
Mix together flour, oats, and baking soda
In a separate bowl, cream together the margarine/salt (or salted butter) and sugar. And if you're like me, "cream together" means angrily mash and wisk together with a fork while cursing Black And Decker's name because you still can't afford to replace the egg beater you bought from them that rusted in six months.
Add the Nutella and applesauce into the creamed mixture and incorporate well.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together.
Refrigerate dough for a half hour.
Preheat oven to three hundred and fifty degrees Fahrenheit.
Use a spoon to dollop the dough onto a lined (with parchment paper or foil) baking pan.
Dig out your pizza pan and line that with foil too because you don't have enough room on your baking pan.
Allegedly bake for ten minutes.
Add on about another fifteen minutes because gluten free baking never runs on time.
Enjoy!
