Two years later, following his acquisition of Twitter and after I resigned my role as the company’s head of trust and safety, Elon Musk added fuel to the fire. I’ve lived with armed guards outside my home and have had to upend my family, go into hiding for months and repeatedly move. This isn’t a story I relish revisiting. But I’ve learned that what happened to me wasn’t an accident. It wasn’t just personal vindictiveness or “cancel culture.” It was a strategy — one that affects not just targeted individuals like me, but all of us, as it is rapidly changing what we see online. Private individuals — from academic researchers to employees of tech companies — are increasingly the targets of lawsuits, congressional hearings and vicious online attacks. These efforts, staged largely by the right, are having their desired effect: Universities are cutting back on efforts to quantify abusive and misleading information spreading online. The concept of "Being viewed as transmisogynistic is worse than actual acts transmisoginy" has reached it's logical extreme and the term Terf has become so muddled that now it's becoming a common tactic to accuse trans women of being TERFs to have the veneer of trans allyship while harassing trans women. It's being used from "drinking radfem koolaid" said by trans androphobia truthers to "you look like a garden variety TERF" by a PickMe Transfem looking to throw her sisters under the bus to trans women being called gender essentialists for making egg jokes.

And it not just Terf accusations. It's also accusing trans of being Crypto Channers or kiwifarms users. Basically any predator of trans women are becoming the new smokescreen to harass trans women under and it's fucking insulting and disgusting. TERFs are a hate group that's specifically seeking our genocide. Kiwifarms is a site dedicated to doxing us and painting us as sexual predators.

Not only is it paradoxical and impossible for a trans woman to be a TERF but the attempt to paint them as one is an act of violence. It is attempt to to not only ostracize us from the wider queer community but from from our sisters. The very small community that we had to carve for ourselves to feel the smallest amount of safety. It's lying and giving otherwise trans positive people the greenlight to harass us and tell themselves that they are doing it to protect the rest of us from us.

If you find yourself falling for this you seriously need to reevaluate your allyship to trans women.

He’s been relentlessly spamming me on Youtube for WEEKS trying to get my attention because I asked him to stop self-promoting on other channels. Now he’s even using info from my blog to harass me. I’m not his only target but he seems to have it out for me in particular. He also has sock puppets upvoting his comments and echoing his bigoted opinions.

This was funny at first but now I’m legit annoyed.

I'm seeing a lot of hate in the tags today so let's just go ahead and take all the bitching over the ads campaign to its natural conclusion.

Ignoring that the ad campaign raised over ten thousand dollars to be donated to charity and we have the receipts proving that happened, come on a little thought experiment with me.

A bit ago, I finished saving up 300 dollars and I spent it on a Lego kit I'd been wanting (the motorized lighthouse, if you're curious). That's the kind of purchase I usually don't have the disposable income to make responsibly, so it took me months of putting money aside for it. It was a responsibly-timed purchase; I made sure my bills were paid and grocery needs were met before I bought it. It also brought me many hours of happiness as I assembled it and I love looking at it displayed now in my home. Obviously, because I bought this thing from the Lego company, none of that money went towards charity. Was this purchase morally wrong of me because I chose to spend what is, to me, a fairly significant chunk of change on a selfish purchase instead of donating the money I'd been putting away little by little?

If your honest answer is yes, then honestly that's a pretty online take and we've got nothing more to say to each other. There are many terrible things happening in the world right now, but the idea that someone is morally reprehensible for spending money on something that matters to them instead of donating is wildly out of touch. Yes, I think you should absolutely donate to many of the excellent charities providing relief if you can! I've been running charity drives through my university for months, it's very important to me! But making the occasional selfish purchase is not morally wrong, and harassing people for doing so is not activism.

Renewal campaigns for cancelled shows are not new. Fans of other shows (I think Shadow and Bone?) have also been collecting money to put up ads recently. OFMD is an incredibly important show to many people - it's the first time I've ever felt so seen and respected by a TV show, and the first time I've ever seen a brown, gay man like myself as a romantic lead. It's a fucking good show, there's nothing wrong with us for wanting it back, and honestly if you donated to the ads campaign who fucking cares. That's no worse than me choosing to put money aside for a Lego kit instead of donating it. People making selfish purchases, whether towards a renewal campaign for a show they love or an overpriced cup of coffee, are not your enemy.

someone said it on twitter but i can’t find it - but it’s astonishing how people found it more believable that a woman in her 20s concocted a scheme over multiple years to frame her millionaire, worldwide-famous actor husband of domestic abuse, as opposed to the possibility that this famous actor (who is almost 20 years her senior and has publicly-known problems with alcohol and drugs since the 90s) was so angry that his moment in hollywood had passed, he wasn’t as popular as he used to be, but that his wife was doing better at the box-office than he was, she wanted to leave him and he just couldn’t stand the idea of her being happy or financially stable without him. misogyny is a fabulous thing isn’t it.
