Rayleigh and Buggy reunion, but Rayleigh is being over the top judgemental about everything, like idk if u are familiar with crazy ex girlfriend the TV show but Rayleigh shows up and acts exactly like Rebecca's mom does. Overcritical of his life choices and dismissive of what he perceives as excuses coming from Buggy, because he knows Buggy's true potential and is annoyed with Buggy not living up to it. He gives Crocodile a once over and goes "is that what you found to replace Shanks with" and moves on and Crocodile doesn't even have a moment to compute the way he was just insulted because Rayleigh has moved on to criticising Mihawk's cooking instead. Worst part is, this all comes from a genuine place of love and care, Rayleigh is legitimately worried sick about his baby clown son of 39 years, but he cannot express that worry without being extremely invasive about everything. Buggy isn't even responding, he just shoots ppl apologetic looks and rolls his eyes when Rayleigh isn't looking because of course he does this obviously Buggy is never good enough for him and Shanks had always been the favourite (you ask Shanks or any other Roger pirate and they will tell you that Buggy is Rayleigh's baby boy and absolute favourite with utmost confidence, too bad the emotional constipation runs in the crew). Dinner is awkward as fuck, because Rayleigh makes attempts at being easygoing but his motherhenning nature irt Buggy shines through, his conviction that Buggy would be happier with Shanks by his side is making him be overcritical of everyone in that dinner and he keeps discussing the good old days and subtly hinting at Buggy that there is still time for him to go back to Shanks....and Buggy looks close to frustrated tears (and everyone agrees, Crocodile has snapped 5 cigars in half with his teeth and Mihawk is 5 seconds away from banging his head on the table).
Just overbearing father Rayleigh being stifling and trying to overcompensate for his shit parenting choices during Buggy's childhood and Buggy having his daddy issues expanded upon (and Crocodile and Mihawk gaining insight to Buggy's entire deal)
"Idk if u are familiar with crazy ex girlfriend the TV sho-" My therapist literally told me to stop watching it so much because it was affecting my mental health. So. Yes. I know the show. It's one of my favorite shows EVER. Rebecca is just like me fr my beloved. All of them my beloveds. The songs my beloveds. Don't make me go into CEG x OP because I won't finish. And as you can see, I did not listen to my therapist.
Even though I've always seen Rayleigh as the one who understands Buggy the most (Roger and him love Shanks and Buggy equally but it is quite obvious they put more pressure on Shanks to be more like Roger and that only made things worse by making Buggy's inferiority complex exist) and the one who stands up more for him and comforts him when needed, it is true that he might be more judgemental and he'd be worried for Buggy. Like. Think about it. Roger died and the kids (their kids) ended up alone and going their own separate ways. For Rayleigh, finding out Shanks and Buggy aren't together is just?? So weird?? Because they've always been together. Birds of a feather (if somebody mentions the song 'Two Birds' I am punching them because I can't handle that song today please). And it's just... Well, surprising. 'But as long as they're okay' but they're obviously not okay!!! And it's not that Rayleigh is judging Buggy. In fact, I think he would do the same with Shanks. The second Rayleigh sees Shanks he's already saying he drinks too much (even for a pirate) and that he's been acting recklessly and "What the fuck are you doing without Buggy? Is this because of Buggy?" / "I do not drink because of him. It's- It's not about him. He left-" / "HE LEFT AND YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING?????" / "I hate it when you get like this" / "Like what?" / "Like you want to still do something about my life. I'm an adult, thank you very much-" / "No, you're not if you keep acting this way". And I personally think Rayleigh would just be worried for the both of them and also feel extremely guilty because he wasn't there to fix things when they fought, the way he always did. "The second I left you alone you two start a fight that lasts two decades?" and he would say this to both of them and they would hate it.
But yeah, going back to Buggy I think he'd be worried because. Well. Have you seen Crocodile and Mihawk? I mean. They're kind of on good terms with Buggy now (more or... More or less. Kind of. They're not equals but they're some sort of weird thing and they respect and care for each other. More or less. It's- It's complicated. Don't ask) but they're still them. And Rayleigh can't help but see the situation and be like "I'm proud you made a name of yourself, kid, but you don't have to do this if you don't want to" (meaning: You could go back to Shanks any time you wanted) and Buggy takes it as an "You could go back to Shanks any time you wanted because you'd be safer with him" instead of the real "You could go back to Shanks any time you wanted because you'd be happier with him and this war of pride and hearts you have going on is dumb". And he understands Buggy needs to be away from Shanks to grow, but it's just so, so sad to see them like this when they used to love each other so damn much.
Also, I think Buggy would be going through the worst moment of his life and Crocodile and Mihawk would be so done for different reasons. First, they don't give a fuck about all of this drama. And second, they are starting to see Buggy more like a person and understand why he is the way he is, and the things Rayleigh is saying are bothering them a lot. They've been trying to make the clown move on from his past so he's useful for once (because when he believes in himself he's actually not a burden and more interesting) and now this guy (that they respect because it's Silvers Fucking Rayleigh) comes and tries to change things around here? Nope. Not happening.
So basically, what you're trying to tell me is that Rayleigh regrets raising the boys that way and now he's overcompensating and it's overwhelming for everyone, right? I- I love it. Great plot. 10/10. In character. Perfect. It makes me go insane. I love their daddy issues.
(Also, can we talk about how "This Was a Shit Show" and "What'll it be" are extremely Buggy songs??? Because- Because now I want to-)

So after watching vods and bads stream and clips:
When things calm down or they get a moment.. I NEED for qTubbo and Sunny to actually sit/chill with qPhil Chayanne and Tallulah and TALK. Okay?
I am so sad/upset.. concerned of things in seen within the chats and stream. And I make this clear every character is valid their own feelings and pov but we as the audience are able to see more than one pov. And when we CHOOSE to ignore other povs or closed minded things can/have gotten a bit toxic.
"..you have phil chayanne and tallulah.."
Tubbo chat: they don't care...
Hallo?? Qphil cares for Sunny!!! Her God sibblings including tallulah cares!! Just like any other egg. Yes lullah was worried in the beginning but anyone paying attention can actually see they are closer than they were. They are children and sometimes things need time. Happens. Lullah adore her God father, she was there for his bday and talks to him when can. But just like sunny she can choose who she wants to talk and be around. She has a comfort level just as sunny has one. Chill. When tubbo died it was not clear to Phil, even chat was confused but once Creation came up, he understood it was real. He even apologized because seriously didn't know it was real.
On top of having to deal with his friends death he has to assure his kids have cookies. And at that point the cookies were expensive and he could not afford them. Chayanne had to assure him things would be okay. Fast forward this week he has more than enough and can help any egg if need be. Since Tubbos death qphil has had to assure the kids theyvwould get tubbo back and to not worry of sunny because they will make sure she is taken care of. But note he will not force Sunny to hang around, she is free to what she needs to thrive for now.
The miscommunication between these characters is strong. On purpose or not. Story wise I love it but as viewer I don't know... concerned now?
I just want everyone to be better and happier than the day before on the island. And the audiences to be more understanding and open minded of the ccs/characters and admins
Sorry for the novel. Sorry OP
Please never be afraid to send a long ask! I promise that it’s not a bother, and I genuinely enjoy reading people’s analysis/thoughts on both characters and the fandom.
But yeah, I totally agree with you that miscommunication and unintended pov bias are at the core of the issue here! It really sucks to see people who legitimately think that Philza hates Sunny when it just isn’t supported by canon.
Sunny might /feel/ hated or disliked, which makes sense for her pov, but that doesn’t mean qPhilza actually hates her. He’s given no indication that he hates her being around him, his children, or his home. (His only concern about her hanging out has always been the potential safety issue of 1 adult watching 3 eggs.)
So far, qPhilza has always been very direct with his language, so I don’t think there is a reason to assume Philza is secretly lying when he tells Sunny she can stay over or ask for help whenever. He might be stressed about his own capacity to protect and care for three kids, but that doesn’t mean he wants her to be alone.
Everything in canon says that Philza wants the eggs to be safe and happy just like everyone else on the island. Nothing has contradicted that. He might prioritize his own kids the most and sometimes fail to understand some social/emotional situations, but the eggs’ safety is everything to him.
Plus, canon shows again and again that qTubbo trusts qPhilza and loves his godchildren dearly. Tubbo knows that if Sunny really needed help, Philza would do everything in his power to do so. Even if all he can do is direct her to someone more capable of getting resources like bbh. That’s him thinking of and trusting the island’s collective parenting to ensure that the kids have everything they need. Considering he logs on the server an avg of 3 times a week I think that’s fair enough.
I don’t mind conflict between characters, but yeah, fans claiming things that canon doesn’t support can annoy me. Canon pretty much says that Philza /does/ care, but he can do a shit job of showing it. He’s not meeting Sunny’s emotional needs, and I think that can be worked on with communication. There’s truly no reason to assume that qPhilza is maliciously harming Sunny.

NEWSFLASH for abusive parents: NO Pussy is that good.
Exactly no one in the history of ever has had a happy, healthy, loving relationship with their mum and gone no contact with them for seven years, just because their partner asked them to.
OP knows this better than anyone, because she knew to tell her son not to get involved when she found out the girlfriend was no contact with her own toxic parents. She gives no other reason why she didn't want her "genius" son to meet the "very smart and nice" Law undergrad girl he was in love with, because that was the only one. She didn't want her son to connect with other adults who are healthily and happily no contact from their own abusive family members, because she didn't want him to see it was possible.
She really wants us to beleive that she is such a victim, because her son picked an "outsider to the family" over her. Her sons girlfriend is the person she's decided is going to take the blame, and hell will freeze over before she considers blamimg the relationship breakdown on literally anyone else. Note how she breezes past telling us about her sons "accusations" of her. She's stressing that he'd never brought the issues up before he met the girl when he was in college, but never actually denies them. Considering her son and his girlfriend described her as a "criminal", I'm gonna just assume that if it was trivial, she'd have told us what she's been accused of. He didn't choose his girlfriend over his mum at all. With all the pot stirring and projecting she's admitted to doing in this post alone, it seems to me he chose himself over her. With the way she's deflecting like it's her job and rents due, I don't blame him.
Here's a take that might be controversial: stalking... is bad. Even.. if you get someone else to do it for you.
"I had to use one of those search services" (What these psycho parents call private investigators, because it sounds more like they were searching for someone missing than that they paid someone to stalk their target.) as if her being out of pocket, paying for someone to seek out a person who clearly does not wish to be found, was super fucking inconvenient for her. I just want to scream "No babe, you didn't "have to" do anything. You chose to do that because you can't comprehend the fact that your now 30 year old son isn't your property." This dude is just young, free and living his best no contact life with his super cool, lawyer girlfriend. Literally nobody reasonable was concerned for his safety.
This is a woman who doesn't know how to apologise because she genuinely can't conceive of a scenario where she could be at fault. That snide comment "lord forbid I care about him" actually infuriates me. This woman has admitted to running her own son out of his hometown after attempting to ruin his relationship, using his father and sister as informants against him till he had to cut them off too, and paying a stranger to stalk him. This poor guy has had his life absolutely torn apart by this bitter hag of a mother. He had to orphan himself from his entire family when he was barely 20 years old to protect himself from this utter nutcase, and she has the fucking audacity to say "God forbid I..." as if she has experienced any consequences for any of her own truly unhinged behaviour.
I don't care if she's old, if I see this twat, it's on sight.
The "Poor me" angle she's trying to run at this with is pretty pathetic and really transparent. I'm not sure who beleives she's an innocent victim, but this "I text him every day and they bounce because I've been blocked for seven years" shtick is boring and over dramatic. Especially when even the fact that the girl has a law degree is enough to provoke some weird, barely related attempt at a smug remark. She's clearly not too sad to be salty. When she's not coming off whiney and sad she's just coming across as bitter and jealous. It's not a good look and it's clearly not worked for her up till now, but she's committed to the bit and she's not gonna turn it around.
Her son is happy and she's just so mad about it.
Womp womp.

Oban Star Racers review
Tumblr media
Yesterday I decided to watch Oban Star Racers, since it was a series I slept on when I was a kid and I heard a lot of good for it. So I binged the 26 episodes yesterday and today.
Overall verdict: FUCKING DOPE. 9/10
Very good series overall. It has a pretty unique art style (most notable on the humanoid characters) but it makes it work and uses it well to have pretty dynamic and expressive characters and gorgeous environments. And it's a very neatly written story, that finds the right balance between a sport fiction (racing), the overarching space opera/space fantasy narrative, and the interpersonal drama.
And the OP is pretty good and sells the color.
youtube
The plot :
Tumblr media
(two ships preparing for the preliminary of the Oban Star Race)
In the future, humanity is set to participate in a racing competition between civilizations of the galaxy, where the winner will receive the "ultimate prize" from a sort of "god" of the galaxy. Eva, a young girl who wishes to be recognized by her father (both literally and figuratively), gets involved in this race when said father becomes the manager of the earth team... And it soon turns out the competition has way higher stakes than everyone believed.
The plot reminded me bit of Red Lines, albeit with far looser vehicle rules than it (one competitor rides a giant beetle... ONE COMPETITOR JUST FLY HIMSELF), although I don't think a more in-depth comparison is worthwhile. Ultimately they provide different experiences despite the similarities.
A more in-depth rating would be :
Story:
very well written with good dialogue. None of the 3 main storylines (racing, drama, mystery) feel underdeveloped compared to the other, and they all manage to fit right into place as the plot progresses. The only downside is some plot points could have been introduced earlier and in more detail, but this only concerns a few.
9/10
Characters:
The characters are colorful and interesting. The secondary cast have a lot of personality, with unique ship design that sometime really push the definition of "racing ship".
Tumblr media
(one of the secondary cat... I mean cast, Para-dice)
And the recurring cast isn't left behind. They are complex and nuanced, flawed people who sometimes make bad decisions, but always act in an understandable way. Sometimes their reasoning is more implied than explained, but it's not easy to miss it.
Tumblr media
(The short guy with black and white hair is Don Wei, the protagonist's father. The tall dude with his tits out and sunglasses is Rick Thunderbolt, a pilot for the earth team)
The only issues are that one character is developed and leaves the story way too quickly and that some are a bit too simple/one not. But it's a minority and it's probably to balance give more time to the interpersonal drama.
8/10
Art :
The art style surprises a bit, but you get used to it quickly. It makes for expressive characters, and it's stylization make the humans not feel boring compared to the many aliens.
Tumblr media
(you may have noticed they don't have noses)
There's also some clever use of 3D here and there, but it's well integrated so it doesn't feel too jarring. And the environment are fun to look at.
Tumblr media
(This isn't what you expect to see when you're told you're going for an interplanetary racing competition. But I really like this planet, Alwas)
8/10
Music:
The music is good guys. I put the OP above, but the ost is also great, both for actions and non-action scenes. I really like the preliminary planet's theme... it really sells the confusion of humans reaching a new world they've never seen before with a pre-fire spacefaring civilization (that uses caterpillar-powered engines).
youtube
And Prince Aikka's theme is also cool.
youtube
Anyway, for the music, I was gonna give it a 8/10, but now that I listened to them again for this review, I realize they do carry a lot of making this experience pleasant. So
9/10
Worldbuilding:
That's a very important factor if you make Sci-fan, so I thought it was good to make it a category. Oban's setting succeed in the two key point I look for in a fictional universe: It makes its own sauce, and it looks alive.
Not everything in the setting is unique, but it offers some fresh concepts or visual identity make the inspiration turn. Like, I really enjoyed Ceres' ship being an amalgam of tubes that shouldn't fly, and that he rode standing on it rather than in a cockpit.
Tumblr media
or spirit weird anatomy that looks like an unraveled humanoid
Tumblr media
Or hell, Oban (the planet) itself functions in a way I haven't seen yet in sci-fi. that's what I mean by "make its own sauce". I can look at some elements of it and say "Wow, you don't see that every day" and get a rush of inspiration from the new flavor.
As for the "looks alive" part, by that I meant that the series gives the impression if I put the camera away from the main plot, there still would be interesting things to see. We know a lot is going on offscreen. We only see one of the 3 preliminaries... that's a lot of teams we haven't met... And even with the one we met, there's political intrigue in their homeworld, tragedies they wish to repair, etc... It's a universe where you feel you could always find something new to look at.
10/10
So, once again
OVERALL RATING: 9/10

Any ops you think really need their story expanded or any you think had underwhelming story compared to what they could have been? Stuff like op recs, events or even module tidbits.
I should probably preface this by saying that I am chronically bad at remembering to read the operator records I have unlocked, I've read maybe two or three total. If there's anyone I say I want more story for where that story already does exist in their op rec, I just haven't read it yet.
Blaze has a ton of interesting potential with what main story episode 6 sets up for her, regarding her father, his relation to the Yan officials and Jiezhen in particular, and more. I would love to have her backstory expanded, but I feel like that plot thread is eternally shelved because it would require having the Yanese government as an antagonistic force and China would never allow that. I'm surprised Arknights gets away with their actions in episode 6 as is and they were largely just evaluating another city that doesn't directly feel their administrative influence.
Kafka, Robin, and Mountain I think are all excellent characters that definitely have the potential to take the focus of more events. Not that Mansfield Break left them underdeveloped, just that they definitely feel like there's a lot more that can be done with them. Show Kafka interacting with Silence and the rest of the Rhine Lab cast more, have Robin and Mountain continue the plot thread that leads to Mountain's Bloodline of Combat skin, etc.
Ch'en maybe doesn't belong on this list but I'm putting her anyway. Dossoles Holiday was hugely underwhelming for her character, and also devastating for public opinion on more Ch'en content. Ch'en hasn't dropped out of the story entirely, she does still appear in events like What the Firelight Casts or Where Vernal Winds will Never Blow, but I really hope she returns to major main story relevance in act 3 because there is so much potential with her and Talulah finally meeting again and being able to talk and be together as sisters after all these years. They have so much to work through.
Not an operator, but I would love more Closure. Whether it's more main story relevance or an event featuring her, I want her playable and I want her to get a ton more screen time.
Myrtle I think has a ton of potential for a really funny storyline going over the city she and Durin are from. Make her actually the official Generalissimo and show her as a respected leader of this Durin city, it would be hilarious.
The story will likely get there eventually but I need to know what happens to Kroos in Rim Billiton and if Beagle dies in the Great March of Bolivar. Kroos is great in Who is Real and Invitation to Wine, she could absolutely carry another event as the main point of view.
Mudrock has a ton of interesting story potential given act 2 of the main story's focus on the Sarkaz and Kazdel. She's an excellent character and I'd love to see her get some more screen time. I personally don't subscribe to the idea of Mandragora being alive but it would be very funny if she was so Mudrock could show up in the story and then skill issue her with more powerful and skilled rock/soil related arts. Big Bob has continually gotten story development through Integrated Strategies and through stuff like the storyline in the Angelina comic, but Mudrock has basically trailed off after she became playable in terms of having new content and it's a shame.

The New Suicide Squad
They’ve been talking about how a hero by the name of Dream Girl is gonna be team leader for a New Suicide Squad. Normally I’m iffy with DC comics cause I never know what I’m gonna get but this time. I’m completely done before it even gets started. Cause this Suicide Squad has Black Alice on it. Now I just want to point out that I have no problem with Black Alice. What I’ve seen has made her an interesting character.
The problem is that Alice is obviously being used to combat the Magically inclined on the Hero’s side. Again not a big issue except most everyone sees Raven as just magical. When in actuality she has 2 (or 3 If you choose to see her soul self as a separate thing) sets of powers. She is both a Magic user and a Psychic. Every time they bring a magical absorber into the mix. They instantly defeat Raven. It’s…. very… half assed. Every time they want the bad guy to win. They nerf Raven. I understand that Raven is an OP character. I understand that there aren’t that many characters who are on par with her, but seriously if you can give Superman a proper fight. Then you should be able to do so with Raven. Cause apparently Superman & Raven are equal on the power scale. ( I’m pretty sure this is only when Raven is dealing with her father’s influence and not when she’s White or Dark Raven)
Anyway I’m honestly don’t want anything to do with this comic series. There’s so many things deliberately missing when a fight between Raven & Black Alice occurs that it’s a complete and utter joke. I also imagine they’re going to do something similar to Constantine as well. Even though he has the Synchronicity Wave & a whole bunch of magical objects. As well as his Tats. He should have something up his sleeve if he ends up dealing with Magical Absorption.🧐

"op ur mid au ideas are scaring the hoes" well im abt to be terrifying
2 words: stardew valley.
Ed and Al take the place of Haley and Emily in the sense that they're siblings in their twenties, they live together without parents, and Al is liked by everyone in town and Ed is uhhhh Not. Al would probably work at the Saloon like Emily does but isn't on his feet the whole time (he and Ed are still disabled-- Al has bad chronic pain and joint issues, Ed has a prosthetic leg.) I can see Ed being into photography the same way Haley is too.
Hohenheim is the father that returns randomly in year 3. Not much to say about that except that the town does not give him a warm reception on account of the whole abandoning your children thing. Maybe he fucks off soon after to live in the forest like the Wizard.
Pinako and Winry take Clint's place as the town blacksmiths because who needs that guy am I right. Winry's loved gifts would probably be raw materials and batteries.
Ling is like Elliott in that he lives on the beach and that is the end of the similarities. He has so much money (very obvious the way he talks about it) but he chooses to live in a repurposed fishing shack. In one of Ed's dialogues he speculates that Ling only lives there to scavenge for food like a seagull (he is right).
I think this goes without saying but Mustang would be the mayor. If you get enough hearts with him you get his tragic PTSD military backstory. I don't know what Hawkeye would be or where she would live in this situation, but I do know that she and Roy have the same weird secret relationship that Marnie and Lewis do.

Hey, how are things going with you and your loved ones? If you're comfortable answering
Tumblr media
Hi Nonny,
Thank you so much for checking in on me!
So updates:
My Father in Law seems to be responding well to the first dose of chemo. He's a lot more energetic than he has been in a little while. He has his second round on Weds. He is thrilled at the moment because there's a cancer charity in the area that helps with assistance and benefits and they have been really helpful in providing support when it comes to filling out forms and moving forward with their change of cirumstances. His brain scan came back negative so the cancer hasn't metastasized there, which is a huge relief because as it is very common with this type of cancer because it moves so quickly. - He's still terminal but there's more time if that makes sense?
My husband's bad luck seems to finally be shifting. It's been a bit of a running joke between me and a few of my mutuals because in a very small space of time he had to have a minor neck op, we found out about his father, he got bit by a dog and then at his most recent eyetest he was referred to the hospital (He really wanted to get new glasses but they have said to leave it until they've checked out the eye issue - so he was bummed because he wanted these amazing frames that he saw.
I have been sending some of my own work out for publication, which has been a little exhilerating actually! - I have no idea if I'll get anywhere but the act of doing it has been really uplifting.
I'm in a bit more of a positive space at the moment, counselling helped me get a grip on my anxiety and stuff that I want to do - hence sending out work and such. I have had anxiety spells over really random stuff - I can never tell what's going to trigger it but I've managed it really well so it's not effecting my life nearly as bad as it did, and I have seem to have got a handle on my insomnia issues because that was a bit mad for a while.
Overall I'm in a much better place than I was last month and I'm still moving forward and looking to the future.
Once again thank you for checking in on me, it does mean a lot to me that you dropped into my inbox to ask.

Do you think Hawkmoth was at his best when he was more mysterious (or pretty just during season 1)? Also, do you think he should have stayed mysterious for longer?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I say he was at his best in s1, not so much that he was mysterious, but he was intimidating enough with his power, but it was also the most believable and having clear limits despite the OPness (like miraculous based akumas had about the same level of power as the actual, but clearly the real was superior; OP akumas had clear limits like Mime and Timebreaker). And as it was s1, I could better humor and enjoy his dramatics and monologues. While there was some fun to the mystery of who HM was, I would vote not dragging it out unless they had more red herrings to play around with to keep us guessing. But as it was planned to be Gabriel, I'd say they should've just went ahead and revealed it at the end of s1, especially as they went ahead and confirmed it in the first ep of s2. The fun of who was HM wasn't fun enough for dragging it out for long. Especially as they weren't really going to work off Marinette and Adrien working off suspected adults. Adrien hardly interacted with his father, and Marinette interacted with him even less.
Having more villains wouldn't have made HM a better villain, especially if working off that he'd be the same as canon. At most it would've made him more tolerable as he's not the main focus, but chances are good people might've gotten fed up with him and want more focus given to other villains, and his stick could've still gotten old and many could wish that they just wrap him up as clearly he's not meant to keep Butterfly.
And he doesn't work as the big main villain to stick with as he wasn't always meant to be the big main villain. Just like the dragged out love square, his set up gets old. Especially as it goes on for 5 seasons straight with hardly any changes, our heroes hardly getting closer, and while Gabriel achieves more he also still fails which just makes him look like an idiot that we all have long lost respect for. He should have been done s2 or 3. He is not scary or charismatic enough to want to stick with as THE big main bad for a long time.
Another big issue is that he's very removed from our 2 main leads. It's no blow to Marinette whether Gabriel is HM or not, and at most, he's more of an annoyance to her day to day life than something to stress over (until later seasons but that's more having so much piled onto her than HM himself, he just doesn't help). And Adrien, despite having that personal connection, has done nothing and has been uninterested. It would be a blow to learn his dad is Gabriel, but he's not looking into anything, he doesn't care to find HM, and he's not suspecting his father. He's literally just vibing and enjoying how things are. He's not going to move anything forward.
So HM isn't much of a personal baddie to either of them, so how does he work as the big main bad when there are no personal feelings there?
Zag actually built up Mayura as the bigger bad, saying that she was HM's boss and would "make him look like a baby". There's also the factor that miraculous aren't meant to face off against each other, so that opens up a non miraculous villain to come later for them to face.

Conspiracy theorist and professional gadfly Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Monday that he will convert his vanity PR stunt into a third-party presidential campaign. Kennedy abandoned his Democratic primary bid after he made ignorant and racially tinged statements about COVID immunity, statements that caused his popularity among Democrats to plummet. Recognizing that he had no chance of disrupting the Democratic primary and could never earn a spot on the debate stage in the Republican primary, he took refuge in an independent third-party campaign.
The development should give Democrats a measure of relief. Many Democrats were worried that Kennedy’s unnaturally youthful physique and famous name would siphon disillusioned voters away from Joe Biden. But as the Trump campaign has deduced, Kennedy is a bigger threat to conspiracy-prone, disgruntled GOP voters than Biden. Indeed, the RNC and the Trump campaign both attacked Kennedy after he announced his third-party campaign. The Trump campaign said,
Voters should not be deceived by anyone who pretends to have conservative values. [Kennedy’s campaign is] nothing more than a vanity project for a liberal Kennedy looking to cash in on his family’s name.
See Vanity Fair, Turns Out RFK Jr.’s Independent Bid Could Do Trump More Damage Than Biden. Per Vanity Fair,
Internal polling from the Trump campaign suggests that a Kennedy third-party bid would sap more votes from the ex-president than Biden in a general election matchup, according to a Semafor report published Friday. “It’s single digits, but it’s enough where it counts to make a difference,” a person familiar with the data told the outlet. The Trump campaign, in turn, is reportedly readying a messaging onslaught against Kennedy, who, despite being a member of the most iconic family in Democratic politics, is running as a pro-gun anti-vaxxer whose platform aligns much more closely with conservative populism than Biden’s progressive liberalism.
And it can’t help RFK Jr. that his siblings issued a joint statement condemning his run for the presidency:
The decision of our brother Bobby to run as a third-party candidate against Joe Biden is dangerous to our country. Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment. Today's announcement is deeply saddening for us. We denounce his candidacy and believe it to be perilous for our country.
This development is less about RFK Jr. than it is about the Democratic tendency to exaggerate fears and assume the worst, especially where Joe Biden is concerned. When Kennedy was teasing his candidacy, Democrats were in a panic—a narrative that was amplified by a willing media. See, e.g., NYPost, RFK Jr. has the White House sweating, and rightly so.
Kennedy’s reputation in the Democratic Party is already damaged after he said that COVID was bioengineered to be “ethnically targeted” and that Ashkenazi Jews were suspiciously immune. When the Trump campaign machine is done with Kennedy, he will likely drop out of the race entirely.
I started the newsletter with this story because of another wave of Joe-Biden-is-too-old angst circulating among Democrats. Although I can’t pinpoint where the most recent angst originates, I received a half-dozen copies of an op-ed by David Brooks in NYTimes, Opinion | Can we talk about Joe Biden? (I am not going to waste one of my NYTimes gift subscriptions on this article.)
On the one hand, Brooks is mainly sympathetic to Biden and concludes that Biden is the Democrat’s only choice. But in arriving at that conclusion, Brooks devotes a lot of NYTimes real estate to three tired premises: (a) Biden is old; (b) polling is bad for Biden; and (c) voters care about inflation more than any other issue. Those premises lead Brooks to this crescendo of handwringing:
Voters know both men very well at this point, so when I hear Democrats comforting themselves that people will flock to Biden if the alternative on the ballot is Trump, I worry they are kidding themselves.
For a guy at the pinnacle of the opinion writer ecosphere, Brooks’ analysis is badly off-point. But rather than argue with Brooks, I will simply note that every special election in 2023 has been a national referendum on Joe Biden, and he has exceeded expectations at every opportunity. Brooks does not examine that critical fact because it undermines his analysis in two ways:
First, “Biden” and “Trump” are surrogates and avatars for two different visions of America—authoritarian vs democratic, gun safety vs a heavily armed citizenry, reproductive liberty vs state-imposed religious regulation of women’s bodies, dignity vs discrimination against LGBTQ people, and environmental protection vs unregulated fossil fuels.  If Brooks doesn’t understand that point, he has been comatose since 2019 (at least).
Second, Brooks simply assumes that Trump is a legitimate candidate who has not mounted a coup, incited an insurrection, unlawfully retained defense secrets, disclosed sensitive nuclear information to Russian diplomats and random guests at Mar-a-Lago, and been adjudged as a sexual abuser. Not to mention that Trump is teetering on bankruptcy as he defends 91 felony counts. Yet, to Brooks, Trump is just one of two major party candidates in the 2024 election.
Never before in our history have we had a major presidential candidate under four criminal indictments as he runs for office and Brooks fails to mention that fact in his analysis of the election. Really?!? “But, but, but . . . inflation,” Brooks responds. Give me a break! I have more faith in the American people than does Brooks. I hope you do, too. Do not fall for facile, shallow journalism that sells American voters short.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was supposed to destroy Biden’s campaign. He will now be lucky to escape with his standing in the anti-vaxxer community intact. As always, we can’t count on Republicans or independent candidates to defeat themselves, but let’s not talk ourselves into defeatism when we should be confident and hopeful.

Ranking Black Clover OPs
This is a personal ranking. All of them are actually solid OPs and I think Black Clover consistently makes good ones.
Max of ten videos to a post so the bottom ones link to the OP.
13. Stories by Snow Man (OP 11)
Not bad but it doesn’t do too much. A little basic. Kinda checks all the normal boxes.
The shot of the map is cool
You flash through a bunch of characters.
Group Black Bulls shot.
I thought they were showing flashbacks but there are episodes that revisit Kahono and Kiato, Zora’s backstory, and the Queen of Witches which is nice.
Awww Loropechika :(
Some magic and fighting shots
Yeah, it’s not outstanding
12. Eien ni Hikare (Everlasting Shine) by TOMORROW X TOGETHER (OP 12)
Starts off with some cool shots of squad members against shots of their captains (expect Yami ofc because you couldn’t fit all his kids)
Yuno finding himself surrounded by his friends in the Golden Dawn is really sweet.
Some magic fighting with the captains this time which is super cool
Asta and Yuno growing up as they run together is sweet too.
Not much that I found interesting but it looks nice
11. Gamushara by Miyuna (OP 5)
Solid but doesn’t stand out too much.
The song has grown on me from when I first watched the arc.
I was intrigued that in the opening shots of the Black Bulls, Vanessa and Finral are in different shots when they’re shown together a lot of the time. I think that’s because this point in the story is when their individual stories start getting focused.
Back to the illustrations in the grimoire which is cool.
Vanessa seeing Rouge for the first time is so touching as she realizes the power she holds.
Ending shot of the squad is always good.
Definitely more of a static OP
10. Grandeur by Snow Man (OP 13)
I love the song for this one.
The surprise watching it for the first time is that you find out Asta becomes even more buff.
And then he goes sword surfing.
Good action
Amping up the threat of the Dark Triad well
The hints at Nacht and Liebe are nice
Actually doesn’t show too many characters. The Black Bulls (as a squad) aren’t really there.
youtube
9. sky & blue by GIRLFRIEND (OP 8)
I thought this song was not appropriate for this point in the series the first time I watched it. Like, the elves are wreaking havoc and we’re having this nice little calm tune. It is a good song though.
Good action in this one.
Lots of elf trauma.
I didn’t notice the brief shots of Leo and Luck until I rewatched it to make this list, but they’re appreciated for their moments during this arc.
Lots of Asta and Yuno focus.
I feel like I don’t have much to say about it.
youtube
8. JUSTadICE by Seiko Oomori (OP 7)
I like the symbols of the squads in time to the song
Great group shot of the Black Bulls
I wasn’t sure why Grey and Gordon were both screaming but once you know, it’s great.
Mimosa in the spotlight because she’s important this arc being on a team with Asta.
Cool Zora shot.
Elf trauma.
Yami being super sus about William and William also gets this creepy shot where black hands grab him.
HENRY REVEAL
Everyone coming towards Mereoleona at the end to form the Royal Knights is nice.
Screaming Black Clover at the end is such a moment
youtube
7. rakugaki paige by Kankaku Piero (OP 6)
Lower down in terms of song for me but the visuals are damn good.
Love some of the transitions in this one.
The opening shots of different wizards in environments similar to their magic type is cool. Then, they all fade to black which is where Asta appears. Very nice.
Interesting that Asta and Yuno are reaching out to each other instead of their normal fist bump.
Lots of action in this OP and it’s great.
The transition from Finral and Langris in red to Noelle and Solid in blue is satisfying. The parallel of sibling issues.
Zora seeing his father is a good transition too.
That shot of Langris angry is scary but it transitions to Finral opening his eyes to see his friends protecting him :’)
youtube
6. Paint It Black by BiSH (OP 2)
This OP changed as the arc went on. I was skipping it on some episodes and when I decided to see it again, I had to take a step back. Then, I watched it almost every time.
I was excited for this arc because Luck was getting attention and the OP reflects this but at the split shot of him half crazy and half as we normally see him made me think “That’s concerning”
I like the red, blue and black throughout it. Very reminiscent of the rustiness of Asta’s sword too.
Watching the arc, I liked trying to identify everyone’s grimoires as they flew past at the beginning.
youtube
5. Haruka Mirai by Kankaku Piero (OP 1)
Start of the show so it’s mostly Asta and Yuno based which is fine because you haven’t met many characters yet but I prefer the ones that include more of the characters
I like that the shots of the Black Bulls and Captains are like illustrations in the pages of a grimoire.
I remember this OP making me think Magna was going to be more important than the other Black Bulls because there’s a shot of him riding on Crazy Cyclone with Asta and Noelle. Like, I thought they were going to be a trio or something.
This is the OP that they play during scenes in the show so it has some nostalgia as the first one and it shows how much Asta has grown.
Being the first OP, it hits different and has a special place, but I think there are better ones down the line.
youtube
youtube
4. Black Catcher by Vicke Blanka (OP 10)
Cool OP because there is a drastic change between its two versions
Song is really good.
The first one fits that point in the story well because it’s colorless and raining and everything seems hopeless.
Secre flying through the air as the past plays out and then a shot of Asta shows how she’s been around for years.
Cool action fighting the devil.
When light breaks through the darkness and Secre cries :’)
As for the second version…
Secre falling through the sky but she has the Black Bulls cloak on now is nice.
I like Asta running through the illustrations of all these people he’s met. It’s recalling all the adventures he’s had so far.
Creepy shot of Gordon’s family which probably jumpscared me the first time I watched it
I want to punch Damnatio in the face
Some cool action
More foreshadowing ooooooo
Another good ending shot of the Black Bulls
youtube
3. RiGHT NOW by EMPiRE (OP 9)
Hype OP which is good for this arc
DRAMATIC LIGHTING
More elf trauma
Interesting that the first shots of the Black Bulls don’t show their faces really
I like how they show the backstories of Finral, Luck, Gauche, and Noelle on backgrounds that look like their grimoires.
Really good action shots
Mereoleona and Fuegoleon are going feral
Asta breaking through the black is cool.
Oooooo foreshadowing
youtube
2. Black Rover by Vicke Blanka (OP 3)
OH BOY
This was one of the openings I already knew before watching the show and I could not wait to get to it. Having the context just made it better.
Never skipped this OP. Ever.
Song goes so hard.
I was so excited that we were going to see Yami in action
There’s also a small fight with Magna, Luck, Asta, and Noelle against these cloaked figures you assume are the Eye of the Midnight Sun. They’re the characters we mainly know so far and it’s a cool bit.
This is the OP that I feel sums up Black Clover as a series the best. Like, I would show this to someone to try and convince them to watch the show.
youtube
Guess Who Is Back by Kumi Koda (OP 4)
YESSSSSSSS
An OP I never skipped
This song goes so hard.
While Black Clover is the OP that I think sums up Black Clover, this is pure Black Bulls awesomeness. It’s so hype.
I like shots of the grimoires. They’re fun.
I love their dramatic ass poses at the beginning with the lighting shifts.
The shots of Asta, Magna, Luck, Vanessa, Finral, and Noelle going from rougher sketches to more vivid and dimensional (I don’t know how to describe this). I want to scream at this part, it’s so good.
Then, the group shot at the end as they face Vetto.
It’s just so so so so amazing and gets you excited.

Blood Moon
Tumblr media
//My Diabolik Lovers Au!!!
I wanted to based my au off of old horror games(and horror games made to look old) such as Faith, AiOni, HetaOni, Some of the older Resident Evil games,Corpse Party Etc. So I might mention game mechanics, changes to the story and other little tidbits like that.
I want to also mention there are mentions of malnourishment in how i describe how characters look.So if you don’t feel comfortable with those kinds of things, feel free to click off.
Tumblr media
YUI
Instead of Yui being sent to live with the brothers, I decided that Yui hears a rumor about the manor being huanted and she decides to investigate for funsies. Well turns out the brothers are there.
In no where in my au does Yui fall for one of the boys. She’s outright terrified, but she’s smarter with how she goes about it, I don’t want her to be a ditzy clumsy girl all the time. I want her to be calculative and strong. But I also don’t want her to straight up op, there needs some flaw to her so she’ll still be clumsy and a bit slow at times.
Yui will look the same in appearance, but she’ll have eye bags due to the lack of sleep.
SHU
Blood is the only food that actually stops their never ending hunger, regular food has no use for them so they don’t eat it much. Due to the lack of nourishment and the lack of sun the boys look sickly and pale.
Shu sleeps quite a lot, and because of that he is very fragile, he can only keep himself standing up for short periods of time. If he’s up longer he gets dizzy(due to the vitamin deficiency)
His game mechanics would include sound, vampire have very sensitive hearing, Shu’s hearing is probably the best out of all his brothers. One small creak in the floor boards would cause him to wake up.
REIJI
Reiji’ s body is about the same, pale and skinny to the bone. He does not have the same issues where he’s fragile but he gets bruised easily.
Personality it’s just about the same but he’s more jittery, not in sense of being nervous and anxious, but becuase he’s always thinking of what his mother would feel about the decisions he’s making. It eats him alive sometimes.
I think Reiji would test out some of his concoctions on himself and sometimes his (now) paranoid brothers. Some are very harmful, like burning your intestines, induced vomiting, so on and so forth. He’s even made a skin eating parasite.(that is now under control after he let it terrorize the household for a week, the brothers have faded scaring from the incident.)
AYATO
He still thinks he’s the best.(he really isn’t) bro is still annoying. Anyway, he has a slightly smaller build than both Reiji,Shu, Subaru but still has a slightly bigger build than Kanato, same build as Laito.
His childhood was basically the same, mom wanted him to be vampire king. So she pushed him to be the best so that his father would acknowledge his “greatness”.
He’s more violent in this au, so I’m thinking that for his game mechanics it would have to do with his Iron maiden/coffin. It would be more like he puts our protagonist inside the iron maiden
KANATO
Kanato is smallest out of all his brothers canonically. He’s still the smallest, but definitely not weak, bro has just as much strength as Ayato surprisingly for someone who looks like he’ll crumple if you blow air in his direction. His emotions are what make him a ticking time bomb, one small mistake will send him over the edge.
His game mechanic would be revolved around keeping him happy. Like a baking mini game where you’d have to multi task. If you manage to burn is pastries while trying to keep him happy, he’ll throw a fit and attack the protagonist.
LAITO
I wanted to tone down the sexual assault in the game, specifically from Laito himself, but I wanted to keep his personality the same. He has the same build as Ayato, has scaring on his body as well. Not much has changed besides the way he looks.
SUBARU
Subaru also is thin to the bone, but it looks more bad for him, due to his self hatred he doesn’t eat much. He thinks he doesn’t deserve it. Though he will attack the protagonist if he gets too hungry. He also has bruising on his hands from breaking things( tends to bruise easily)
Side note, vampiric healing in my au works differently, If the vampires go long without drinking much they will take longer to heal. Like Subaru for example, he starved himself, so he doesn’t heal as quickly as his brothers do, that’s why he has bruises that look fresh.
I might revise this
Feel free to ask questions!!
Also I’m going to be drawing how the boys and yui look in my au soon!!

Hey I saw you claim that Ninjago was somehow "pro-war" and that sensei WU groomed lloyd to be the green ninja????? I'm curius about the first part, as for the second part Wu didn't even know lloyd was green ninja how the heck?
Okay so. I had an unfinished text about this. At least someone gave me the chance to post it. Though, please keep in mind that, even though I did my research, Ninjago is still a long story and I'm not going to look at everything, JUST THE BEGINNING.
About the second part: that was OP's post, but even if Wu didn't know Lloyd was the green ninja, he still taught a minor how to kill and use tremendous amounts of power. I don't know if Lloyd's troubled past was already exposed from the beginning, but if so, this makes the entire context even worse.
Ninjago basically places genocides in front of the audience (Serpentine War), with Wu being a major war criminal and participant in this, and expects the audience to be okay with it; plotlines like these where the show solves literal allegories of real-life issues with war is a common occurrence.
Lloyd was groomed by both his father and Wu to be drafted into wars that mostly end in misery and more wars— and everyone, including the people who live in Ninjago, is okay about it, with even the show itself trying to make the viewers choose a side.
To understand what happened, it needs to be understood that wars are bad, first and foremost, because it kills people (it's more deep than that). Secondly, children nor teenagers shall ever go to war, because TO KILL and to BE KILLED has an abhorrent toll on a minor's mental health— especially since they're developing their brains. To make a kid's show where characters, who started as minors, go to war and *kill*, the show is giving a horrible message to the audience (speaking from experience, I've seen Ninjago kids be very aggressive). Furthermore, Lloyd, the character in question, has been manipulated since childhood by both his mentor and his father, two characters who are meant to be trustworthy figures. Of course, Garmadon IS evil, but, as I said, the show expects us to pick a side. Grooming is a strong word, used to describe the mind-washing and manipulation of kids into conditioning them for becoming victims of CSA; I chose to use this word because Lloyd was mentally washed by both of his important parental figures to kill, and is conditioned to continue killing because the plot needs— in other words, he has to kill evil people.
Why am I complaining about the show's characters killing evil, you may ask? That's because the show doesn't even *try* to find solutions for war; Ninjago, in the lore, was created exactly to avoid facing issues outright by the First Spinjustu Master, which snowballed into innocent civilians being killed with no end in sight. All of Ninjago's wars were started because of characters portrayed as 'evil', either by pure evil nature or revenge, and they are all fought back against just because they are 'evil', without exploring *why* wars happen in the first place. Everything is black and white, with the ones who start revolts being the ones to lose, and a few evil characters being brushed away as victims of those revolts, such as Garmadon who became evil because of the Overlord, in an attempt to make the audience feel bad for irredeemable characters, and to stretch the show longer. Harumi, one of the few important and main women of the show, goes on a targeted rampage against Lloyd because he 'owed' her saving her parents, and wanted to sacrifice him for his father— some could say that she was going through trauma, but we are quite literally showing kids that evil starts from evil, and that because she wants to kill Lloyd and serve Garmadon, we have to root against her— which in majority of the cases means death.
Sacrifices of characters are constantly being shown as self-righteous and selfless, glorifying martyrism to a young audience, without the issues of death being shown as permanent (main characters get revived), or why should minors even be drafted into war. The quantity of characters who die just for plot or to give the show some 'depth' is absurd. Death is serious and countless people in real life suffer because of it. This returns me to Lloyd and Wu, who are considered good guys but have committed horrible crimes.
I don't know if I'm 100% lore correct, but I did my research. Here it is. So no, Ninjago is not "somehow "pro-war"", it IS pro-war.
For contrast: Chima's plot always ended with pacifism. I'm not saying that you can't make characters kill each other, but Chima, as a kids show, has a decent message of respecting diversity, including showing the evils of colonialism. It also shows how people can be skewed into committing bad actions and how they can be forgiven (Laval forgave Cragger even if the latter tried to wipe out the entire Lion Tribe; Flinx forgave the Ice Hunters even when his own father kept talking about how 'evil' the Hunters were)
I'm not in the mood to argue or discuss. I don't know how to block the comment section, but if anyone somehow wants to, please don't. I'll ignore the comment. Also, I am genuinely sorry if I sound aggressive or cranky— it's not my intention.
This is a Chima blog, so I'll end this here.

* Fan "episode"
** If you count witches as a separate species from humans.
Tumblr media
Background and Personality
Blaze is a very fun-loving and passionate soul, especially in three things: Food, horror, and her friends. While, like the others, she can be impulsive and foolish, she is not without her moments of reason as well.
She can be quite the obsessive one, often getting carried away with her passions, straying into extreme methods to fulfill her desires regarding said obsession (ex: Becoming so obsessed with Halloween she flung pumpkins at houses putting on Christmas decorations.).
She's got quite the temper however, and things get to her pretty easily. Not to mention she's one to hold onto a grudge for god knows how long. She's also got some inner self-esteem issues, blame the bullying while she was in school.
Blaze was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Ezra and Johnny Thorburn. Life went well for the family until Ezra died of a heart attack when Blaze was 8 years old. Her family moved to the U.K a little while afterwards due to her father finding new work there. She met the boys in school when they defended her when she was being bullied, becoming friends with them as a result.
Blaze and her family moved back to the US during her high school years, but she still kept close to her friends through long distance and was able to be with them during vacations. She was however, an outcast in high school, and while not as bad as when she was younger, she was still picked on from time to time.
After graduating, Blaze moved to the U.K and into Edd's house.
Her witch powers came to be as a result of an authentic witch book she bought at a yard sale...which went on to possess her and cause havoc. While the boys (sans Tord, for he was still in college) were able to stop her by burning the book, some of it's pages still survived. So her powers came back pretty slowly, though thankfully it's not able to take over her mind...usually..
After her powers returned, she got herself a newer, non-cursed, portable (smaller) spellbook.
Tumblr media
Abilities and Quirks
Magic
Blaze has access to various spells at her disposal. As varied as her spells, there are limitations and restrictions to the extent of her powers. For one thing, her spells are reliant on physical and mental energy, and using more powerful spells for too long causes her to become exhausted with quite the headache (Though this will go away after some time, especially after a nap). Some of the more stronger spells also required a special ritual or perquisites to pull off (ex: certain ingredients or markings on the ground).
Blaze also cannot make things appear from nowhere, make people fall in love, bring people back from the dead, or kill someone directly (she can use her magic as a weapon, but has no access to "insta-death" type spells). Basically any spells that would make her too OP, kinda like the genie rules.
Her powers also become erratic and unpredictable when she's angry or under heavy stress.
Glowing eyes
Broomstick Flight
Potion Brewing
